Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The text: a pot of oil

  • He reads the opening of 2 Kings 4 entire: a widow of the sons of the prophets cries to Elisha, the creditor is come to take her two sons, and all she has in the house is a pot of oil
  • He announces his subject from Elisha's question: what is in your house
  • He opens with discovery stories: a comic book collection, a lost painting under a mattress, and a rare automobile in a garage, each a fortune found inside a house

Scriptures: 2 Kings 4:1-7

Start from where you are

  • All crises are not equal, and every problem begins to be answered from where we are
  • Debt is a wager that all conditions will remain constant, and the devil is a merciless creditor who will not settle for one son if he can get two
  • Panic skews our evaluation of our resources; we say always and never and wait for instantaneous help from somewhere else
  • Elisha first asked what she had: perhaps the elements of our own deliverance are already in our possession

Come on in the room

  • He tells the testimony inside the song: a grandmother shut herself in a closet to pray over her injured son-in-law, and the doctor they could not find knocked on that house's door
  • He tells how his great-grandfather prayed for his uncle Gary, whose leg was burned in a service-station fire, and refused the amputation the doctor advised; the leg was kept and bears no burn some sixty years later
  • He tells of the first building on 123 West Columbia, when the forms for the steps were built with borrowed nails and a concrete truck with a surplus load was directed to them

Do not overlook what is in your house

  • A family's place in this church began with a teenager's conversation about the Bible at a sleepover; parents must not overlook what is in the house
  • Teachers, musicians and teenagers serving in the house are not overlooked by God: if you cannot be a candle you will never be a lighthouse, reworked here as faithfulness in small things
  • The widow borrowed vessels from every neighbour, not a few, and the oil flowed as long as there was a vessel to fill
  • She sold the oil, paid the debt, and saved her sons, because she obeyed the word of the man of God

A little bit of oil

  • He asks the house directly: what is in your house tonight, and what have you brought him
  • Oil is the type of the Holy Ghost: it may look like almost nothing, but God always starts with what is in the house
  • The altar call invites anyone down to a little bit of oil to trust that the same God who made a way for the widow will make a way again

from Pastor mul absolutely tremendous tremendous 2 Kings chapter 4 verse one says now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophet phets unto Elisha saying thy servant my husband is dead and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the lord and the Creditor has come to take unto him my two sons to be bondman and Elija said unto her what shall I do for thee tell me he says what hast thou in the house and she said thy handma ha nothing anything in the house just save a pot of oil then he said go borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors even empty vessels borrow not a few and when thou art come in Thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons and thou shalt pour out into all those vessels and shalt set aside that which is full so she went from him and shut the door upon her and upon her sons who brought the vessels to her and she poured out and it came to pass when the vessels were fo that she said unto her son bring me yet a vessel and he said unto her there's not a vessel bore in the oil State then she came and told the man of God and said go sell all the oil pay off the debt and live thou and thine children for the rest of the rest for the rest of your days I want to preach to you from this topic tonight what is in your house look at your neighbor next to you and say what is in your house let's say a word of prayer before we get into the sermon Heavenly Father we thank you for what you've done thus far in the service this evening Lord we know that that resurrecting power is in this house your spirit is alive in this house no matter what circumstance that we might find oursel in Lord we know that the power inside of us your power you said that we shall receive power from on a high when the spirit comes Upon Us Lord that's Ouray pray this evening and that's what we approach every dilemma in our life with your Holy Ghost saving power in jesus' name we pray Give the Lord one more hand clap of praise and you can be seated it is important to know what is in your house Michael Roar didn't realize what he found when he what he just what he had when he found a box containing his deceased great uncle Billy r his comic book collection in Martinville Virginia in his basement in early 2012 it was only when a coworker asked R uh this comic book collection he said do you have any Action Comics number one this was the first appearance of Superman and it's considered of Great Value and sure enough The Collection did contain that comic as well as an abundance of other famous issues produced in their early 1940s and the collection contained 345 comic books including Detective Comics Number 27 the first appearance of Batman and Batman number one those two issues sold at auction alone for $523,000 and $275,000 respectively in total The Collection fetched $3.5 million at auction thank you Uncle Billy I sure do miss you and it was a beautiful memorial service but thank you for your comic books it's good to know what's in your house people are known to bury a bit of cash in mattresses from time to time and mattresses uh usually cost you nowadays all the cash that you have amen but what about an Italian Renaissance Masterpiece for one lost rajio painting that's just what happened an unnamed family found this Judith and holist canvas under an old mattress in the Attic of a house in too France the family theorized that one of their ancestors who served in Napoleon's Army may have brought it back to France centuries ago and after two years of research and debate over the works authenticity Eric Turin a leading expert on painting from Old Masters declared it to be genuine an anonymous person bought the painting valued at 170 million dollar and it was never able to go to the auction that would be an oh so comfortable mattress to sleep on in 2009 amen the Holy Ghost is breaking out y'all going to be at home tonight just looking looking around everywhere in 2009 you guys that flip houses you're you're going to be going through them the the car family I coincidentally and I I guess appropriately made an amazing Discovery while sorting through the estate of a deceased relative Dr Harold Carr in Newcastle England they found an extremely rare vintage automobile worth millions of dollars just sitting there collecting dust Dr Harold Carr who had died in 2007 had been stowing multiple vehicles in his garage including an Aston Martin and a Jaguar as I I believe it's uh pronounced around here it's Jaguar you know but the prize possession was a 1937 Bugatti type 57s at tante and I believe there's one of those little accent marks at the end of that of which only 17 were made these cars being sold for multiple tens of millions of dollars it's good to know what's in your house it's good to have something of value inside your house all all crisis are are not equal in our lives every problem that we Face needs a type of evaluating and the answer to everything starts from where we are and Elisha asks the Widow the first thing after she tells tells him of the Dilemma that she is in he says what is in your house the woman immediately answered I don't have a thing in my house any anything that I have i' I've sold or I've tried to barter away just to make it from day to day the the creditors have come to collect the debt and if I don't and if I'm not able to pay up I'm going to have to give my two sons I'm going to have to give my blessing I'm going to have to give the Next Generation the only thing that I have left my husband's dead I've sold everything I have and the creditors knocking at the door and the the only thing I have left is my family and if I don't pay up they're going to go into a life of servitude and the prophet asks her what's in her house and she says I don't have anything saved this small pot of oil this oil that would have been used for anointing Elisha took this one small hint of a solution that this was the only thing that she had left so he began to proceed from there this Widow who was left with insurmountable debt who was this Widow who who was her deceased husband from The Narrative we read that the scripture explains the husband was a member of the sons of the prophets these groups had their Roots as far back as the time of Samuel she was the wife of a prophet who had died and unfortunately unlike Uncle Billy earlier she was not left with a comic book collection worth multiple uh millions of dollars she was left strapped with absolute debt she sold everything of value and she still lacked enough to pay the creditors and when she came to Elisha with the problem he did not offer immediate help instead he wanted to determine if the Widow had any available resources all debt is a wager that all conditions will remain constant it's uh a life on the edge that with the slightest disruption in your life can send you snowballing into an abyss that you're never able to climb out of and this isn't just talking about debt as we refer to it in the financial sense or in the uh in the in the literal sense which is pertaining to this story but we could receive a report from a doctor or we can receive a text from a family member or we can exchange some words and the the heat of a confrontation where we can just bring up this Shadow and this Cloud over our lives or we can live a a lifestyle or sin comes knocking at the our door and some decisions that we've made and in whatever the case it comes knocking at our door with a debt to be paid and we have no answer for it we we have nothing to confronted with and in our flesh we say I I do not know and I don't have anything to face this with the Devil is a merciless creditor and he will not settle for one son if he can get two and the creditors in our story were demanding the remaining balance of the debt be paid by the involuntary servitude of the two widow's Sons the parents had no idea that it would come to this oh when they took out this debt when they took out this loan if you will if if they would have been able to seed down the Road in this circumstance they would have they would have never they would have never done it if if if we if we knew that end result of the decisions we make even seemingly small there's some things that if we could go back we would change the whole thing but as the the debt Rises up as the as the as the numbers increase through the years we can get to a point in our life where we're no longer able to even pay them and this was all legal under the law but the legality was different than the morality men could borrow on their personal credit and primary security for debt was first considered to be their own persons the value of their labor and that of their dependence they didn't know when they were making these decisions that the husband and the primary Breadwinner of the family if you will was going to die there were there were decisions made without a longterm Focus the Hebrew word the Shu and I probably butchered the pronunciation of that I'm not even going to look over it s but this word uh used in different Financial uh uh uh context of the Bible uh it means to strike with a sting as a serpent or to oppress with interests on a loone to to take a bite and this is what news can even feel like in our lives we can sit down at a dinner table and because of a situation we're faced with where we're not even able to eat or we lay down our our head on the pillow at night and because of a report that we've been given in some capacity or because of some stress that we might be dealing with or because of some familial relationships or because some conflict I've had with a friend or a coworker and we're not able to go to sleep and it's it's seems like this news is that of a serpent bite and it takes my joy and it takes my sleep and it takes my inability to even enjoy my dinner and while I should be spending time and enjoying the blessings of my family it's sucking and taking every single thing away from me and if there's you wish there was something that you could do you wish there was something that you could confront that situation and that dilemma with and you find yourself like the Widow in the story where you say I don't have a thing I've tried everything that I've know to do I've tried to reach out to him I've tried to pray over it I've tried to seek the latest and the greatest thing to go after this problem but nothing seems to work to calm the Widow's desperation Elisha said calm down we need to think through this just a little bit he simply asked this question that prefaced a course of action he said first off she's panicking her her sons are about to be sold or taken in in in involuntary servitude the debt was that insurmountable she she had no means of earning any income her husband was dead what do you have in your house he wanted her to evaluate the resources that were available to her panic in the face of dilemma can skew the results of our resource evaluation we'll use words like always and never as it will never work out or everything always goes wrong for me and most often we want and expect instantaneous help from the Lord from resources other than our own and he can do that he can work instantaneously he can bring means and provision to us through sources that we can't even identify but in this story and in often times in our life he'll ask you what resources are available to you in the moment what do you have in your house how much better is it to look and ask what do I have to work with perhaps we already have in our possession the elements of our own Deliverance perhaps God has already given us the tools God has already given us the weapons God has already given us the resources to combat the problem that lies in front of us the man in our story may have left his wife and sons in deep debt but he left them something pretty valuable more valuable than gold and more valuable than the comic books or the car or the Italian Renaissance painting he left them a legacy and a testimony that he feared God and was faithful he left an example at least to the extent that the Widow followed What Elisha told her to do the narrative of the desperate Widow reveals to us that the Lord helps unnamed ordinary Everyday People the Bible documents numerous stories of God's Deliverance of Ordinary People it shows them in their homes and it shows them in their businesses it shows them in their joy and it shows them in their grief it shows them at the marriage feast and it also shows them at the side of a funeral we've learned both lessons positive and negative from the Kings and the prophets and we also learn Le lessons both positive and negative from unidentified people that we don't even know their name like the Widow in our story that we're looking at now and to us she may have looked like nobody but to God she was somebody and every single one of us need to acknowledge and we need to realize that no matter what problem we Face we we we we start that self deprecating talk even in our uh approach to God sometimes and we'll say I I'm I'm not able to do this by myself or I I'm not able to uh do handle a situation like this person would or I could never do that and we forget all along and we'll try everything else except for realizing that I have the Holy Ghost living and breathing inside of me and I'll try everything else than saying I'm going to get on my knees on Monday night and I'm going to get on my knees on Tuesday night and I'm going to get on my knees on Wednesday night and I'm going to lift this need up to the Lord I might not have the resources of this world I might not have the financial security that modern-day life might have to offer but I do serve a God I do serve a God who can use what I have even when I don't think it's a lot he can use it to perform the miraculous would you Give the Lord a hand clap of Praise she said all I have is just a small teaspoon of oil oil was used for anointing oil was a sacred product it didn't have a lot of value uh numerically to sell but it was used for every capacity of life whether it be the anointing of Kings or maybe it was used for sanitation purposes or medicinal purposes or nutritional and cooking purposes purp say it was used to heal wounds it was used in all capacities and all she had left was just a teaspoon of oil and the man of God said well what do you have she said this is all I've got well guess what you serve a God who can use that right there to get you out of your problem if you listen to what I have to tell you I remember growing up with the CD player and we had the the uh in the car and my mom and dad had uh I don't they they weren't hip enough to have the CD wallet that had like 40 of them in there no offense to you he did separate just uh celebrate whatever number that was birthday but they they had they' keep four or five cases in the in the sitter console at a time and my mom mom would make sure they were all lined up uh good and that the they they they would have the cover on them and and everything else but I remember they had a CD of the Georgia Mass gospel choir and I remember one of the first songs on that CD was come on in the room and the song wasn't even necessarily a traditional song but the song really consisted of a testimony and the testimony would go and I remember it so vividly the testimony would go that the there was a there was a family driving out on a dusty road and a bad storm came and they were out in the middle of seemingly nowhere and they were lost and the drive lost control of the car and everybody in the family there was a man and his wife and the wife's mother and there two kids in the car and they had nowhere to go and there was a house across the street so the testimony goes that the wife got the husband out of the car and they took him into the house and knocked on the door late at night and they they let him in and they said can we use your phone and they used the phone and they were trying to call a doctor and see if if there was a doctor in the area because he was injured so severely and they they would call and they called and nobody would pick up and finally they got somebody to answer and they said I'm so sorry the doctor's not here the the doctor is somewhere he's doing his rounds and this was before the days of cell phones and everything like that and we don't know where he is and we don't know when he's going to come back and and I'm so sorry and just a few moments later they heard a knock on the door and it was the Grandmama in the car and she came to the door and she stepped in and said How's my son-in-law doing and they said he's he's doing he's not doing too good he he he he's he's bleeding and he's he's really struggling and she said do you have a closet and she said well we got a phone right here our phone's right here she said no do you have a closet and the lady of the house said she uh we've got a closet right here she went into that closet the testimony goes and she shut the door and she begin to pray God I need you to show up right now God I'm calling out on your name Jesus and the song was called come on in this room I need you to come in the room right now I don't have a doctor in the house I don't have anything else in the house but I do have a relationship with you and she began to pray she began to pray and the kids eventually followed her in there and she started Ed rejoicing she started celebrating her sonin-law and daughter started celebrating the other people in the house who by all appearances from the testimony didn't really go to church or were churchgoing people they started celebrating they started shouting and rejoicing and as the testimony goes they then heard a knock on the door and they said who's there and there was that it he said hey I'm a doctor and I it was just needing to turn around I got stuck can I use your phone and the Grandmama didn't skip a beat she said well there he is and she just continued rejoicing we've got to remember in 2023 I believe in every resource available to us with modern day help whether it be medicinal whether it be with our music whether it be if it's if it's going to the doctor you know whatever the case I believe that God has given people amazing gifts and they and they've St studed and they've they've researched and I believe all of those things but I also believe and we can't forget that in times of Despair and in times when all hope was lost that we've got to be able to find oursel a prayer closet we've got to be able to find ourself a space and get a hold of God and say I don't have anything left all I have is the Holy Ghost within me all I have is that prayer life that I've and God I need need you to show up I remember this story Bishop tells often when he's telling about different things that's happened in his life and I I can't help but recall the other night when at uh pastor and Sister C's uh Pastor Joseph Sister C's ordination service such a beautiful ceremony with our with our uh Pia the Spanish speaking uh church that meets every every Sunday uh at 4 p.m. I'm giving a commercial for it right now so just lock in right here uh but we had the ordination service and it was just a beautiful service and then uh Sister C's grandfather is my grandpa's Brother Gary and uh they my grandpa tells of a testimony that took place when they were younger my great grandfather owned a a service station and Gary and Don were were cleaning up the service station after after the work day and my my my my my great grandpa and and all those boys they were sharecroppers in Southeast Missouri and they they worked so hard and they just they worked their their whole lives really and that now he had owned a gas station and this was uh fantastic and they had just all of these boys and we know the the story of my grandpa and his twin brother preaching and so many different ones in the ministry and my great-grandfather you know he he was a really good man and Bishop also tells about the tobacco habit he had and God gave him Deliverance over that and he he was a good man and uh he he just would was always looking out for his kids and trying to give them everything that he could and everything that they needed but one night as they were cleaning up in the gas station they would clean that uh oil up am I telling it right that oil up with gasoline and in any case around there a a spark flew from something I don't know the derivation but it set that whole floor on fire and I think my uncle Gary was around 11 or 12 years old and it was just a a horrible thing his leg was completely burned and my great-grandfather took him and rushed him to picked him up rushed him to the hospital and went through a series of tests and everything else and the doctor told him he said that we're going to have to amputate his leg and my great grandpa said no you're not taking my boy's leg off and he took him out and he said you could get in trouble and he said we'll revisit that in a little bit but you're not taking my boy's leg off and he he took him and and he began to pray he wasn't he wasn't some Pastor or bishop or been handed one dime his whole life he grew up in servitude essentially being a sharecropper and Southeast Missouri but that man begin to pray and he begin to call out on the name of Jesus Jesus yes he took him to a doctor and believed that they could help him and assist him and yes he was getting counseling from them but he said in this situation I need something even higher than that to show up right now oh I wish somebody might would get excited in this house I I wish somebody's Faith would be built in this house he begin to call out on the name of Jesus and you saw my uncle Gary up here some 60 years later walking just as nor noral as he can and not a burn on his leg because somebody said I don't have much I don't have everything this world might have to offer but I do know a name that I can call on the Bible says don't despise the days of small things oh I look around here and it's absolutely amazing and I'm so humbled to be a part of this great church LED screens and and RGB lights that you can make every single single color uh an amazing floor here and uh all kind of the latest instruments and pedals to make it my favorite sound with some Distortion and we got drums and acoustic guitar that you can even plug up and we got keyboards and and everything else but when I think about faith and about what God can do it's not the result of what he's done but I think and I go back to 123 West Columbia when they're just rubbing nickels together to try to make sure they could keep the lights on and they and they didn't have any way to get up into the building and Bishop tells us the the story they needed some steps built and any one of us nowadays God's blessed us so mightily that any one of us could put the money forth and build some concrete steps like that with with no problem but then they they didn't have the money to do it and they said we are we going to live by faith so they built the forms for the steps and they didn't have enough nails so they were going and trying to find Nails over all part what's in the house hope to God there's a nail here or two you know and they got the some of the pride some of the old nails that maybe they weren't using somewhere else just just to barely get those forms put together well we got the forms built now what's we're going to look pretty foolish right now we're supposed to have church tomorrow and people can't even get up into the building but we got some forms built and just as they finished up a concrete truck comes rolling up and they said here we go God's answering our prayer and that concrete truck pulled across the street and started dumping the concrete somewhere else well they continued to finish up and clean up just a few hours later that concrete truck came back in said hey gentlemen we've got some concrete some extra here they over ordered do you have anything do you have anywhere that we could dump this or pour this and if you saw Bishop in that video the other night you can imagine what he looked like even 20 years younger I can see him taking that dumpster that cement truck by the or asphalt truck by the the the front of the hood and just pulling it as hard as he good I know right where you need to put it and they begin to pour that concrete and they begin to pour that concrete and the very last drop finished the exact amount for those steps to be built don't don't look around to but don't despise the the the the thing the small days don't despise what you have in inside of you don't overlook the power of the Holy Ghost that is living and breathing inside of you the enemy can place a lot of Illusions in front of our face of oh you don't have this so you're not going to be able to combat it if you don't do this or you don't look like this or you don't have this or you're never going to be able to do that because mistakes you made in the past say the devil is a liar I've got the Holy Ghost I might not have all those things but I've got the Holy Ghost living inside of me I got just a little bit of oil I I might be on the worst days of my life but I got a little bit of oil oil was Universal spiritual type for the Holy Ghost and it was in inextricably ingrained in the culture of Biblical times a pot of oil was not much it may have been very small and it may have not have been full it was just a little bit of oil that she head but God is always going to start with what you have in the house God is going to start with what you have in the house when things happen to us we can make those statements or everything bad is always going to happy to happen to me and we can throw a party of pity for ourselves and we become angry and mad but I promise you those things are temporary and they're not going to be sustainable sooner or later you have to make a decision am I going to quit and quitting is not an option or am I going to confront what is in front of me God will always start with what's in the house I couldn't help but think this afternoon we had just a beautiful baptism of arel and Christian and we got to go to their house as I mentioned earlier and you look around at the whole family and and and all and friends and the the many that you know pack this Altar and such a vital part of this church and the several weddings that we've had all because and the Genesis of that relationship with that family was because a a 14-year-old [name redacted] at a sleepover with her friend Emmanuela began to talk about the Bible began to talk about the word of God and emanuela was filled am I telling it right was filled with the Holy Ghost at a sleepover at your house and from that God has just miraculously expanded that sincerity God has miraculously expanded that encounter what would have would have been the difference young people what would have been the difference if and man you if uh [name redacted] would have been more interested in showing the latest whatever garbage that's on an app or talking about and watching who knows what what would have been the difference parents don't overlook what's in the house don't overlook what's in there when you're stressed and you you're you're you're playing the comparison game scrolling through uh social media don't don't don't overlook what what's what's in the house can you you look around here the the cameraman that were up here earlier and the cameraman uh right there uh making service happen there some ah they're just it's just kids quest it's just a bunch of bunch of teenagers don't overlook what's in the house you look up here behind this this keyboard is Nathan Milstead and you see him now hitting all of these different cords and they've got this seven on them and his pinkies sliding down here and all that stuff and just this amazing stuff but you don't remember when he was uh I do seven or eight years old uh sister Donna weeks was was training him and she's not able to be here tonight but I I know she's watching online and and and and and all the musicals that she put on and and making sure that we knew music theory and knew all the notes and she would teach Nathan and Nathan I'd tried to play the piano but then Nathan would get up and just do all this Beethoven type stuff I said I better do something else but but there but there was a there was a sister Donna who said there's something valuable there's something valuable in this house it's it's not going to be something that shows up in three or four years but if we if we'll continue to pour if we'll continue to have vessels there's going to be a day down the road you look up here and you got you got my friend Chad on the drums and uh I know my friend Justin in the the technical stuff and sister Daniel could probably tell you she knew what was in the house when she was in her office sometimes during school and there's a bunch of clacking and clanking and who knows what was going on in the the auditorium but some some kids were in there maybe practicing after hours and sometimes they had to be sent back to class for sure but there was there was a principal there was a the teacher that she she knew what was in the house and there there's some there's some value in the house and don't be guilty of overlooking what's in the house don't don't be guilty of overlooking at what God has entrusted you with don't be guilty of overlooking what God has blessed you with oh I'm just teaching a Sunday school class or I'm just doing a middle school class or I'm no no no no no no no that is the most valuable thing in the kingdom of God he Jesus said that's the greatest in the Kingdom don't you overlook for one second the opportunity what God has given every single one of us to do we all have a Ministry to do we all have a calling and sometimes we do stuff that we don't we don't know if we're called or not but we just do it cuz it needs done and that's great too Jes they the Bible says if you'll be faithful over small things I'll make your ruler over many don't you despise for one moment the opportunity that God has given you to do something he's going to start with what's in the house after determining the Widow had something to work with Elisha charged her with a curious task go borrow vessels from everywhere do every single thing you can empty out the vessels if you have to don't gather just a few however many vessels you gather that's how much oil you're going to have he didn't explain how the miracle was going to be performed the exercise was an Act of Faith she vigorously collected her neighbors empty vessels from all her neighbors not just a few and the first poor was the hardest because this is all she had left this was the difference between her and her two sons and she tipped that little Cruise of oil on its side on the side of the Kett and the oil be to flow and that oil just kept flowing it wasn't something that took place instantaneously there was a plan in place that she had to implement there was a strategy y there was a purpose there was some adversity she had to confront she when when trouble is happening and and there's a dilemma in your life that's not the time to separate yourself and isolate yourself from everybody that's the time where you need to go door to door that's the time where you need to get into his house with everyone else and say I need some help with this thing once the first vessel was full her faith began to build she was afraid to tip up that little Cruise lest the oil stop flowing so her sons kept changing the containers while she held the miraculous Cruise of oil on its side and we know the outcome the Widow sold the oil paid the debt and saved her sons from bondage because she obeyed a message from the word of God to the man of God in her life it's hard to appreciate what we have when we've lost a lot it's hard to appreciate what we have when we're going through the dilemmas of life she had some oil but she called it nothing she had lost a husband she had spent a lot the loneliness attached to that loss has overwhelmed her and she has lost her ability to be thankful and appreciate what she had but I've got news for you we don't need to undervalue and I know we preach about it and we sing about it but the greatest thing that we could do is to put it into practice and know that we have the Holy Ghost Inside of us I believe in all of modern day marketing and we'll do it I believe in all of modern day technology to to reach the lost and we're going to scrape and do what whatever roll up our sleeves get to work and do whatever we can but the greatest thing any of us can ever do is like the story I told earlier be a good example in front of our friends be a good example in front of the ones that we work with be in good example in front of our family and live a life on fire for God and know that whatever we might face the Bible says that they shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon them and you have that power inside of you yes I believe in pastors yes I believe in the laying of hands on the Sick by ministers and elders but there's going to be a time in your life where there's nobody else to pray for you there's going to be a time in your life where you're going to have to make a decision if you're going to lay your head in between your knees or if you're going to say hey I I I don't have anything left but I but I do know who I serve I do know that there is a power inside of me you know in my flesh I'm deprived in my in my flesh I am weak in my flesh I am weary and it feels like all I have is just a little bit of oil all I have is me but that's the moments in our life where God says that's exactly where I want you to be and if you'll trust in me and if you'll walk by faith it might not happened overnight it might not got to happen in a week but if you'll trust in my word I'm going to make that oil flow I'm going to make that oil flow through you through your family and from generation to generation so I ask you tonight what is in your house what's in inside of me tonight what have you been dealing with what's plagued your mind what what giant has stepped onto the back battlefield of Life what mind monster might oppress your mind tonight stand with me what is in your house can anybody say tonight that I don't know if I have anything left to confront what I'm facing but I do have a little bit of oil I've received report after report I've tried this and I've I've tried that but I do have a little bit of oil and I ask you what did you bring him tonight I so encouraged brother O'Brian's back in the house and I saw him up around this Altar and he's suffered a real severe injury with his ankle and I was over there kind of looking through my notes and I saw him up here standing and worshiping I said my God I got to get out of my seat if he's up there worshiping I I I better go worship sister charity sent us a video a few months back unable to walk but he was in his he was in his recliner giving God praise and out worshiping half of us in the house myself included probably didn't seem like you had a lot left probably didn't seem like there was not much worth praising for but I do have I do have a little bit of oil does anybody have just a little bit of oil tonight does anybody have just a little bit of Faith tonight oh I believe God is in this house if we I believe if we can get a hold of God tonight it might be be somebody in a desperate moment it might be somebody where the enem is tell I've been telling you you don't know your name you're not worth a thing God could never do that for you God works in the [Music] orinary you might be down to what you feel is nothing and what you are in need of but God inquires of you tonight he's not asking well what did this how did this person hurt you or how uh this this provision can come in in an in and he's asking what do you have what do you have to give maybe God has been calling you to a work but you don't feel like you're good enough or you don't have the right credentials or you've done too much in your past maybe you're in need of provision in your life and he's calling you to start emptying out some vessels he's calling you to take a an extra step of faith maybe you're in uh maybe you you've been weary with your job and you're tired of a a conflict you've been dealing with maybe it's fresh energy and a and and and and fresh Rejuvenation and not getting weary and well doing he's asking you tonight that with whatever situation you face he's saying well what do you have what do you have are you able to give me some praise in advance are you able to give me some some worship in advance are you just going to are you going to give me praise and and celebrate me after I do it or are you going to live by faith and do it before I make a way the praise team sang that song earlier he made a way and I tell those stories of Faith throughout the history of this church and each and every one of you have stories of faith in your own life where there was only one way that the situation was going to be reversed and that was only if he made way and I want you to know tonight that the same God who delivered my uncle Gary the same God Who provided the concrete the same God who was alive in the midst of that sleepover is the same God that provided for this Widow and it's the same God that's alive in your situation and I I don't want to come to church and just go through the motions I want to take advantage of it I want to take advantage of the promises and the blessings that God has and I want to invite you tonight maybe it's something you prayed for over and over and you've kind of let it die and you said you know I'm it's never going to happen maybe it's a situation where you're you're needing the app absolute course reverse tonight I just believe tonight with this group of people who identify with being baptized in the name of Jesus who call themselves Pentecostal because of the day of Pentecost and they believe that that Spirit just continues to flow from glory to glory I believe tonight that nothing's off the table I believe tonight that whatever situation that you might be faced with I believe if you'll step forward and say all I have is just this little Cruise of oil all I have is my relationship with you oh and I believe God's spirit will begin to work I believe God's spirit will begin to give discernment I believe God's spirit will continue to light the pathway to see what the next step is and I believe he's going to fill you with his spirit and he's going to show you some things things tonight he's going to put some names on your heart he's going to empower you to go get those vessels and do what you need to do to make sure they're fed oh yes Jesus don't let anybody Pray by themselves tonight don't let anybody Pray by themselves tonight make this place an AER you call the world to with your power mirales Alles there is nothing that's imposible and we stand here because oh your kids are worth the sacrifices that you're making for all that treasure is in your house it's worth it it's worth it yes oh the Holy Ghost is Flowing up and down these house yes Jesus yes Jesus standing here only because you you move [Music] Mountain yes Jesus yes Jesus [Music] he's going to make a way he's going to make a way standing here standing only because you we are standing here only because you made a way somebody needs to get their Peace of Mind back tonight somebody needs to get their Joy back tonight somebody needs to get their hope back tonight and say hey all I've got is just a little bit of oil I need to clean some some junk out of my life and he's going to fill you up with his [Music] Spirit yes [Music] Jesus know how you [Music] it you could we praise him for just a moment let's turn it into some praise he's done it before and he's going to do it again Lord we celebrate you Lord We Lift Your Name on High whatever you're calling me to do I'm going to do it all I've got is just a little bit of oil all I've got just a little bit of oil but I know you're going to make a way and stand only because you made we are standing here only because you made we are standing here only because you made a way you made a way Lord you made a way way you made a way Made A Way You Made A Way made and I don't know how don't know how but you did it l oh I don't know how don't know how but you did it L I don't know how don't know how but you it know how but you it you know how you know how you don't know why going to don't know I'm going to don't know don't know don't know don't know going to don't know going [Music] to we are standing here only because you made we are standing here only because you made we are standing here only because you made a [Music] way
