oh why don't you give him a shout of praise in this house he's ready to take what you have and transform it into something great he's even ready tonight to take some things that you thought died and he's ready to bring life and breathe life into them tonight to make highways out of seas whatever obstacle or hurdle that stands in your pathway he's ready to remove it tonight and i believe that under the authority of the name of jesus christ as the praise team was singing there is nothing better there is nothing greater there is nothing more powerful he's the omnipotent omniscient omnipresent savior and he sits on the throne alone and he is alive inside of you and he died for your sin and through him we have salvation we'll get right into the word yeah give the give the name of jesus a great big hand tonight first chronicles 14 11 and micah 2 13 while you're finding it let me say what a tremendous word we heard from pastor whitley this morning absolutely fantastic awesome let's get fantastic thank you pastor whitley i give honor to bishop mccool and pastor mccool and all of our elders in this entire congregation the greatest in the world as i preach tonight i'll try to keep a few things in mind at our strong tower youth camp i wouldn't embarrass her for anything but i might embarrass her a little bit uh miss [name redacted] we were walking up to to eat uh lunch one day and she said brother anthony you know you're kind of chill and i said well well thank you i was like i like to you know give me a nickname maybe call me recline because i'm laid back or something uh but it's a dad joke i guess but i said well thank you she goes well you know the when i heard you preach last since the first time i heard you preach you were screaming and yelling i thought you might be kind of mean in person well i'll try to keep that in mind but that that uh meant the world to me but i do get excited about this word and i never want to come off mean or angry but i i do get a little bit excited when i read the word of god but i love the hereford so much and it's they've been in our church uh a while now but i i love them and so honored to have them apart and i saw on the live stream earlier brother uh major and we're so blessed to have the major family with us another family that would just keep welcoming welcoming for the next several years but uh he's driving he said i'm going to be getting behind you while you preach while i'm driving well i hope my i don't want him to get a speeding ticket but i hope to preach it'll make him speed up and not not go to sleep or anything and just by the major if you're if you're watching or listening just don't close your eyes when we when we pray over the sermon but i love you brother first chronicles 14 11 so they came up to bell peraism and david smote them there then david said god hath broken everybody say broken in upon mine enemies and mine hand like the breaking forth of waters therefore they called the name of that placed bel perezem which means the lord of the breaks micah 2 13 says the breaker everybody say breaker it's come up before them they have broken up and have passed through the gate and are gone out by it and their king shall pass before them and the lord on the head of them i want to preach to you and minister to you for a few moments this evening on the god of the breakthrough august 1st 2021 if you would one more time tonight put your bibles down and lift your hands and your voice is even louder let's pray over this word mighty god we thank you for what you have already done in this place lord and we thank you for what you are going to do lord let your word go forth tonight and let us obey it and be obedient to it and put it into practice because lord we know when we trust in you and we trust in your word lord the worship has already gone forth as pastor whitley talked about and there's an atmosphere of blessings in this house this is an atmosphere for the miraculous to take place lord and we want you to just step into this room and whatever need what let's go beyond our understanding on what we think is possible lord and let your way be done in this house in jesus name we pray would you give him a handclap of praise and you can be seated across this house the god of the breakthrough august 1st 2000 and 21 breakthrough defined and we could all put a really good cohesive definition of breakthrough together a sudden dramatic and important discovery or development used in a sentence in this context it would be a cure for a disease a scientific breakthrough a major breakthrough in dna research another context it could be an instance of achieving success particularly in a sphere or activity a a band had a breakthrough album and they're now at the top of the charts and they have the best-selling record and they'll be known forever more because of that breakthrough album or maybe you had a breakthrough in business when you reached a particular financial margin and you're now at the top of your game because a particular year that you had a breakthrough in your business or perhaps a sports team who has many years suffered a loss to a particular team and it it seems that this team is what is holding them back from fully reaching championship goals or maybe at the next level of their athletic program and if they can just beat this team it would be a breakthrough that would catapult them through the rest of their season and the rest of their dynasty but the definition i want to leave us with tonight though it refers to a militaristic one it is one closely associated with how breakthrough is defined in the word of god it's an offensive military assault that penetrates and carries beyond a defensive line it's an act or instance of moving through or beyond an obstacle and we serve a god as david described as one who breaks one who goes out ahead of the situation and he called a place the lord of the breaks we serve a lord we serve a god david said who knows how to break through and the most notable breakthrough in the bible took place with joshua and the israelites as the mighty city walls of jericho stood in the way between them and the land promised to them and the breakthrough of jericho lies indeed a foreshadow and a prophecy to a time to come when we reached our heavenly promised land through our high priest jesus christ but there is also a template laid out through the communication and dialogue between god and joshua not a secret code but a recipe if you will on how we can prepare and achieve a breakthrough in our situation and the west bank near the jordan river lies the city of jericho many archaeologists believe it to be one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world also it is believed to be the city with the oldest known protective wall in the world jericho's name in hebrew yejiro is generally thought to derive from the canaanite word raya which means fragrant the city of fragrance thus was the aroma of jericho the city of fragrance this sweet smelling scent seeped out through the city's pores and over its high fortifying walls and vast groves of palm trees as you can see in the video even up to this day are prominent inside and outside and this the palm tree was a pleasant compliment as inhabitants would worship their gods on this flesh appealing mediterranean desert evening prostitution all types of revelry lust driven drunken parties of fornication were the norm in the daytime it would become very hot but at night time it got very cool there was an atmosphere that was being set it was a city caught up with itself and it self-proclaimed greatness however all of these achievements done by man all of these pleasures seeking avenues abundant in this city all of these things were in direct contrast and conflict with the laws of god this city of fragrance where idol gods were lifted up and humanity was lifted up as a god in and of itself for their favor it was a stench in the nose of the true god of israel geographically jericho controlled the way of ascent to the land of canaan the promised land and the israelites were going to if they were going to capture the high ground and have the militaristic advantage moving forward in their canaan campaign jericho must first be defeated and jericho must fall completely and utterly to the ground jericho though a sensual pleasure seeking destination of trade and culture it was a mighty advanced modern militaristic fortress it was a military fortress that could not be bypassed there was no way to skirt around it there was not an alternate route if the israelites wanted to step into the land that god had promised to them if the israelites wanted to make it to the land of canaan for which they were delivered out of the hand of egypt they would have to go through jericho and you didn't just travel through jericho jericho had to completely fall to the ground it was a fortress city it was a symbol also of the enemy's strength and power it was made up in men and women wholly given to idol worship this city stood directly opposed to israel's inheritance and this city had great walls that spoke of its great strength and it had a reputation throughout the land and throughout the country throughout the region throughout the kingdoms to be absolutely in destructible jericho was a fortress city and when we enter into the spiritual dimension that god has promised to us when we seek deliverance for a need in our life when there is a jericho in direct conflict with the land that god has promised for us when we declare war against the enemy for our friends and our loved ones please understand tonight that you must be ready for confrontation there is no progress without resistance if you seek to progress in every any area of your life there will be something or someone that seeks to hinder it there's no kingdom without first taking out goliath and before you touch the hymn of his garment you must be able to have the determination the tenacity to fight through the crowd and touch the hymn of jesus's garment and before jesus can make his way across the sea to the gatherings there might be a time in your life where you have to live with some demons they that are whole jesus said they don't need a physician but those who are sick too and if you've got everything together in your life this sermon is not for you tonight if you've got everything all rolling good in your life this message is not for you but i just wonder if there is someone out there under the sound of my voice tonight that has a need and something that they've been wrestling with and something that they've been dealing with and something that stands in direct opposition from them and their promise i wonder if there's someone who has a request that you've been praying for that you've been worshipping for that you've been praising for that you've been fasting for that you've been giving requests after request i believe tonight that you can have a breakthrough in that situation and i hope i hope i'm speaking to someone tonight where you feel that between you and your promise there seems to be something so highly sophisticated something that would describe itself as an impenetrable military fortress but i just believe in my soul tonight and i wonder if i could get a witness that by faith somebody say by faith tonight by faith if you'll begin to remember and reminisce just a bit about the one who is fighting on your behalf [Music] i believe tonight that there are some people who are so close to the promise that god has for them so close to the blessing so close to the breakthrough that i believe tonight on august 1st 2021 that you are going to experience the supernatural hand of god in your life tonight does anybody believe that or did we just come to give god a golf clap and oh i can't wait to get to the restaurant does anybody believe that did anyone come in here with a need did anyone come in here sick and tired of having to deal with something in your life did anyone give up on praying for a jericho in your life this is who this word is for tonight and only you and god knows the things that you've had to endure the times that you've served when you were the one that really needed to be served the times that you stepped out and prayed for someone where if everyone really knew you were the one that needed prayer for them that night and it's not because you weren't transparent and it's not because you were putting on a facade and faking a smile across your face it's just because you were faithful and you were strong and you were empathetic and you saw someone else in need and you said i've got to step out and be there for that person i've got to step out and serve and pray for that person but down deep inside you knew that when you left this building and when you went to work on that monday or you went back home to that situation that you were the one that really needed the need for that night you were the one that needed prayer and only god knew that you and god knew the things that you were enduring but because you were faithful and because you were strong maybe you weren't even sure what you were doing from day to day and night to night there are some people who have done everything they could for a breakthrough in a situation and i just want you to know tonight through god's word and through the template laid out by joshua that you are oh so close to a breakthrough and when it happens you're going to know that only through the hand and divine hand of god that it took place jerubal said not by might nor by power but by my spirit saith the lord of hosts the battle is not going to be won with your might it's not going to be one with your great and impressive strength it's not going to be one with your capacity or ability director to direct or influence the behavior of others but you're going to know that this course of events turned only through his spirit victory is only going to be achieved through his spirit freedom is only going to be achieved through his spirit a way is going to be made only through his spirit and you've done every single thing you could you've praised you were obedient you were faithful but i want you to know tonight through god's word he's got you right where you want to you think you poured everything out and you said you've got nothing left and he's saying great because that's when i am about to step in i'm about to put my hand on what you are doing and you can receive a breakthrough tonight if you'll walk by faith joshua 5 12 says in the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land neither had the children of israel man anymore but they did eat of the fruit of the land of canaan in that year they had just began to taste the goodness of the inheritance they were eating and nourishing themselves living off of the promised land they were so close they could taste it literally but joshua gives the commission and god gives joshua the commission in joshua 1. now after the death of moses the servant of the lord it came to pass that the lord spake unto joshua the son of none moses minister saying moses my servant is dead read in preceding chapters that pharaoh came to egypt who no longer remembered joseph but moses would be raised up right there in the courts of egypt and we know the story he would go out and then he would come back in and deliver his people through god with plagues and made his way through the red sea and now they were up to this point and god is telling joshua that joseph joshua is dead moses oh the great moses joshua he's dead now it's your time and i want you to know joshua therefore arise get up and go over this jordan and all the people and under the land which i do give to them even to the children of israel every place joshua that the soul of your foot shall tread upon i have given it unto you some of us need to realize what our inheritance is tonight just as i said to moses from the wilderness and this lebanon even unto the great river the river euphrates and to the land of the hittites and under the great sea toward going down of the sun shall be your coast as far out as you can see under the sun all the way to the coast this desolate wilderness that you're stepping in right now is yours as well you have the same inheritance as joseph you have the same promise as moses but they're all dead and now it's your time joshua there shall not be in any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life as i was with moses so i will be with thee point at yourself right now and say me this is your inheritance god said i will not fail thee nor forsake thee he said be strong and be of good courage get your head up be positive prepare for battle for unto this people shalt thou divide for inheritance to the land which i swear unto their fathers to give to them joseph is dead moses is dead and now joshua it's your time to lead that next generation into the land that i have promised you but be not weary be of good courage anywhere that your foot touches uh it's going to be yours and i'm going to be with you just as i was with moses and you need to prepare for the breakthrough for time's sake i will summarize a couple key points for the recipe as i mentioned for a breakthrough the first thing joshua did with that generation is he circumcised again the children of israel the men of war had all died in the wilderness that had come out of egypt and now there was a new generation that had not yet been circumcised the bible says this day i have rolled away the reproach of egypt he sanctified them he called them unto repentance he called them to acknowledge and recognize their freedom out of that land of bondage and the first thing that we need to do if we need a breakthrough in our life over a jericho or a situation in our life we need to first find us an altar and repent of everything in our life next he lifted up his eyes and looked he looked beyond what seemingly high walls of jericho he looked up to the heels from which cometh his help for as high as the heavens are above the earth so great is his loving devotion for those who fear him who acknowledge him who respect him jericho was believed to have a lower wall and an upper wall as you saw in the video up to the height of approximately 50 feet but if you go by today's understanding of the heavens if we match that with our verse if you want to define what the heavens are of the heavens meaning the totality of the universe outside the earth they are approximately 46 billion light years higher in fact the heavens are so high above the earth that human beings cannot even begin to possibly understand or see everything known in the heavens so next time you face opposition next time you face a goliath next time you face some high fortified walls you need to get your head up and remember the one that created this world is fighting on your behalf you need to get your head up and remember that one wrapped himself in flesh and died for your sins and is now living inside of you and last time i checked he created this whole world he created everything in it and he's greater he's more powerful he's stronger than any obstacle or any jericho in your way if you believe that why don't you give him a handcuff of praise oh i wonder if somebody would stand to your feet and say i serve a great god i serve a big god i'm getting my head up wherever my foot touches i have dominion in that space just like the lord was with joshua just like he was with moses just like he's with joseph that's my inheritance he's with me as well there's no wall that's too high for my god there's no giant too tall for my god and whatever you're going through tonight oh i feel the holy ghost of you prepare yourself for a breakthrough august 1st 2021 why do we got to preach about something in the future why do we have to preach about a time to come i believe we serve a god so powerful that he can give you the breakthrough tonight [Applause] you've got to align yourself with god before you go to battle before that confrontation takes place you have to make sure that your heart is clean and pure and you have the understanding of who's fighting on your behalf joshua next fell on his face and worshiped worship creates the atmosphere for hearing god's voice it opens the eyes and the ears of the heart to hear what the lord is saying to you he inhabits the praises of his people he shows up when he hears praise he takes residency when he begins to hear his name called out and when that sound goes out of his name being called that is when he shows up if you want a breakthrough you've got to worship and praise his name next god told joshua you've repented you've called your generation to repentance you've taught them how great and mighty i am in comparison to the jericho that is minuscule that stands in your way you've worshipped and i've showed up god tells joshua now loose thy shoe from off thy foot it was the shoulders of barefooted priests that god entrusted the ark of his presence to possess our spiritual inheritance we must become barefooted we must have no personal agenda we must have no selfish ambitions my plans must be traded in for his plans my desires must be traded in for his desires and god tells joshua i have given into thine hand to jericho and the king thereof and the mighty men of valor the city of yours but before the walls come tumbling down god said you've got to be cleansed you've got to be sanctified and you must humble yourself before you step into battle because i'm going to give you some commands that are not going to make sense i'm going to give you some commands that are illogical by human understanding they're going to seem unorthodox your enemies are going to mock and scoff at you even people under your own command are going to question they're going to complain and they're going to murmur about the things that i'm about to ask you to do but you've got to prepare your mind and you've got to have complete trust in me because if you'll be obedient to what i am commanding you to do then i am going to give you the city i'm going to give you a series of commands no one else is going to understand it but if you'll follow it um you're going to position yourself for a great victory through me the people initially were forbidden to speak which speaks of training ourselves to speak only to speak only that which edifies to speak only that which glorifies god and ministers grace to others colossians 4 6 says let your speech be with grace seasoned with salt that ye may know ought to how to answer every man proverbs 6 2 says thou art snared with the words out of thy mouth thou art taken with the words that you speak with we we can't tear down walls when we tear down each other we can't move forward together when there is division among us faith-filled words will bring us victory but fear-filled doubt-filled weary-filled complain-filled skeptical-filled words will absolutely defeat us words are the most powerful thing in the universe and we must be wise with our words thoughtful in our communication our words can be the obstacle for progression or they can be the vehicle for the absolute miraculous and i have no doubt under the command of joshua as the people begin to march perhaps not understanding completely what they were doing perhaps with a great deal of doubt and skepticism in their minds and why they would be continuing to march around these worlds not being able to communicate anything i feel like joshua might have been telling them as you march every step you take you remember that inheritance that you have every step you take that land is yours and i want you to be thinking as you march around these walls i want you to be thinking about what you're going to say to them when the time comes i want you to save up your shout because there's going to be a time when god commands us to let our voices be heard and i want you to be prepared because you need to be able to speak right into the situation that has faced before you joshua 6 15 it says and it came to pass on the seventh day and i believe this august 1st 2021 i believe it's going to be someone's seventh day tonight it says day that rose early about the dawning of the day encompassed the city after the same manner seven times only on that day they compassed the city seven times some of you have been eyeing a situation a situation has been wrestling with your mind you've been fighting it you've been praying about it you've brought it to the prayer line you've cast it down at the altar and you've done every single thing you're supposed to do you've been obedient and it seems like as if you're just waking up and you're passionate at church you praise and you worship you've done everything you're supposed to do but it still feels like you're going in circles i got good news for you tonight what you've been doing is you've been obedient and you've just been marching around that situation you didn't know why you were you didn't know why god was taking you through that you didn't know why god was calling you to do that but you lived a life of faithfulness and you lived a life of obedience and you've been quiet thus far but i believe tonight there is going to be somebody that rises up and says this is the seventh time i'm old so close to my breakthrough and it came to pass at the seventh time when the priest blew the trumpets joshua said unto the people shout for the lord hath given you a city and i want you to know tonight that sound can impact its surroundings the loudest sound in recorded history came from the volcanic eruption on the indonesian island krakatoa in 1002 am on august 27 1883 the explosion caused two thirds of the island to collapse and formed tsunami waves as high as 151 feet rocking ships as far away as south africa the explosion was reportedly heard three thousand miles away where people described the sound as cannon fire from a nearby ship sound can be so loud that at a football game in baton rouge the crowd became so loud after a game-winning last-second touchdown that a seismograph began to register an earthquake at the local research facility on the campus but the sound i'm talking about tonight that god's people are about to let out i'm talking about a sound tonight that you have the capability of giving that has more power than a volcanic eruption oh i believe that tonight i'm talking about a sound that is in your vocal cords that could be made tonight that can register larger on the seismograph than an earthquake joshua said when you get here it's time to shout i'm talking about the shout of a people of god who are ready for a breakthrough i'm talking about people who are also close to their breakthrough they've been marching around their situation and i believe tonight on august the 1st 2021 that somebody's ready to shout and seal their breakthrough with a little bit of praise oh i believe that tonight [Applause] when you get here he said it's time to shout shout for the lord have given you the city there comes a time when you know you've lifted your eyes up above the problem you've taken off your shoes and you've stood barefooted and worshipped god you've aligned yourself with god you've obeyed his voice and you have learned how to speak only that which edifies and only that which builds up but the only thing that is left for you to do is to shout and your shout tonight is confirmation that you believe it's done you've been praying about some situations and some jericho's in your life for a long time and what you've been doing is you've been marching around them but i believe tonight and i hope somebody will believe with me that on august 1st 2021 tonight can be the night that you remember tonight can be the night that you look back to and remember and say that was the night that i got my breakthrough oh does anybody believe does anybody need anything in this house that was the night i got my deliverance oh that was the night my marriage was restored that was the night i got victory over that addiction god's ready to break through to break through and you're infirmity tonight but you've got to cleanse yourself you got to humble yourself and you've got to shout out to him he's already given you the land but you've got to walk by faith stand with me he is the god he is the god of the breakthrough deuteronomy 31 8 says in the lord he it is that that doth go before thee he will be with thee he will never leave thee and he will never ever forsake thee our key verse says david referred to that place as belle perezm which means the lord that breaks i believe tonight that this is someone's seventh day you've been faithful you've trusted and you've been marching around you were the one that needed to pray for you there's a need that you need a breakthrough for and i believe god is telling someone tonight that i have given you the city i have given you the land you need to remember the inheritance that is yours and you when i tell you to shout you need to shout because a shout is a communication not only to god but it's communication to the enemy and tonight can be someone's bail praise him micah 2 13 says the breaker is come up before them they have broken up and passed through the gate and are gone out by it and their king shall possess before them and the lord on the head of them the one who breaketh is here tonight cambridge encyclopedia and commentary of this verse says the breaker has come it is one that has passed out ahead of them it passed through the prison and delivered those which were confined it's the comparison of a conqueror a human leader but not necessarily moses or joshua we need not wrack our brains as to who this conqueror is for this was a prophetic voice in the light of other prophecies that that breaker that one who breaks is none other than the messiah jesus christ for we all were obstructed by sin and he came on the cross and said i'm going to break through sin i'm going to break through the grave i'm going to break through death and there is now a pathway to salvation because he is saying i am the god of the breakthrough and those who call out on my name shall be saved and whatever situation you are facing if you will call out on that breaking name jesus christ there are some chains that are able to be broken there are some walls that are able to be torn down there are diseases that are able to be healed there are some minds that are able to be renewed when you call out on that name of jesus christ and when you call out of the name jesus christ it's greater than a volcanic eruption it's greater than the vibrations of an earthquake and you've got the power tonight if you'll call out on his name do i need to coerce you to the altar do i need to cheerlead you up here or would somebody step forward with a knee tonight and say this land is mine every step i take is mine and all i need to do right now is shout i need to shout out that name i need to call out on that powerful name that's jesus that's jesus shout it out right now you know what the need is you need to shout it out you need to shout you need to tell that wall to come down tear that jericho to come down right now [Music] you gotta believe it august 1st august 1st august 1st august 1st august 1st the seventh day today is the seventh day it's not a shout out [Music] oh there's someone under the sound of my voice where it's not necessarily a jericho that stands in the way of your promise but you find yourself in a home you're alive it could be compared to a home that is completely engulfed in flames but i want you to know tonight we serve a god who stands at the door and knocks but if you'll call out on his name he will break through that door he'll break through your situation and he'll come and meet you right where you're at but you've just got to call in on his name and he'll never leave you he'll never forsake you he'll be with you every step of the way you have the inheritance you have the same promise that promise is yours tonight [Music] he's showing up [Music] august 1st august 1st [Music] [Music] oh he will never forsake you [Music] and i really don't know what to do [Music] [Music] my spirit breaks through [Music] is [Music] listen we've heard from heaven tonight but here's what i want us to do right now here's what i want us to do i don't want to go through the motions tonight if you are facing a jericho in your life if it's a jericho in your body i want you to lift up your hands it's some type of sickness pain in your body lift up your hands right now there's some affliction in your body whether it's in your mind whether it's physical in your in your in your body i want you to lift up your hands i want you to look around now look around look around look around look around look around don't look at me look around put your hands down if you are facing a situation with your job with your job right now in your career i want you to lift up your hands right now lift up your hands lift up your hands lift up your hands come on you're facing something your job if you're facing something in your emotions whether it's in your mind whether it's in your mentals or something in your thinking whether it's depression oppression anxiety or fear i want you to lift up your hands don't be afraid because listen that jericho's in your face right now and it's mocking you telling you you're just going to go through it you're going to go home and it's going to be right there put your hands down now look around one more one more your jericho is in a relationship because of jericho in your relationship if you want to put your hand up put your hand up maybe it's a backslidden son or daughter a backslidden spouse lift up your hands that's jericho now here's what we're going to do there's some people who didn't put their hands up and brother anthony said tonight this is not your message and that's fine but what you can do is lay your hands on those right now and lift up your voice now listen now think about this for a second there were some people walking around jericho who probably had no desire to go to jericho all it is doing is they're following the crowd but you know what they did we're walking around and we're going to lift up our voice with those who've heard the promise we're going to lift up our voice with joshua we're going to lift up our voice on behalf of moses who's dead we're lifting up our voice and we're going to see these walls come down so that's what we're going to do right now but here's what i want you to do i want i don't want any spectators in this place i don't want you looking around i don't want you i want you being a spectator this is not a spectator church what we're going to do is we're going to lay hands on the sick we're going to lay hands on those who need a job we're going to lay hands on those who are praying for backslidden and we're going to lift up our voices together now here's what i want you to do i want you to find somebody around you who you've seen lifted up their hands i feel the holy ghost right now and i want you to pray and they're going to sing but i want you to pray and lift up your voice right now and i want you to believe that the walls the jericho walls are coming down come on right now in the name of jesus we come against every affliction in your body right now from your head to your feet every pain be gone every discomfort be loosed in your muscles and in your nerves and in your bones right now be healed blood afflictions flee right now in the name of jesus immune deficiencies be healed right now in the name of jesus come on right now we pray for your job we pray for your job right now the doors would open come on that god would open up the doors for your career right now and open up the windows of heaven and quiet a blessing come on right now and [Music] get out of here worry get out of here and we're
