if you have your Bibles this morning turn with me to the book of the Gospel El of Mark chapter 5 and we're going to look at a passage that many of us are familiar with and one of the great miracles of Jesus I give honor to Bishop and Pastor mul and Pastor Whitley in this great congregation it's an honor to be a part of the greatest assembly on the face of the Earth Mark chapter 5 and we'll begin reading at verse ver number 35 States while he yet spake there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house a certain which said thy daughter is dead and why troublestarts afraid only believe Be not Afraid only believe and he suffered no man to follow him save Peter and James and John the brother of John the brother of James and he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and seeth the turmoil and them that wept and welled greatly and then when he was come in he saith unto them why May make ye this a do and and weep why do you make such a commotion for the damsel is not dead but sleepeth and they laughed him him being Jesus they laughed him to scorn but when he had put them all out he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel and them that were there with him and entereth where the damsel was lying and he took took the damsel by the hand and said unto her Tuma which is being interpreted damsel I say unto thee arise and straight way the damsel arose and walked for she was age of 12 and they were astonished with great astonishment I want to speak to us for a few moments on the subject today making room for miracles clearing the Clutter of Doubt making room for miracles clearing the Clutter of Doubt let's pray across this house Heavenly Father we thank you today Lord we thank you for the opportunity that you have given us to assemble here together to study your word to worship together Lord we ask that your word sink deep down into our hearts and engrafted Upon Our Minds that we may put it into practice in those moments where doubt and weariness might be begin to slip in but obeying your words when it says to be still and Obey and just believe knowing that you'll never leave us nor forsake us in Your Great Name Jesus we pray amen making room for miracles clearing out the Clutter of Doubt our homes are more than just structures of brick and mortar and wood and Nails there's sanctuaries and places of Refuge it's the backdrop against which Our Lives unfold and we're doing a sermon series this entire month on leadership begins at home you spend the most time at home your home reflects your personality your home is that place of Refuge we carefully curate our physical spaces decorating them with items that bring us joy or items that bring us Comfort a sense of belonging Kelly unfortunately removed the Tennessee football helmet from the coffee table shortly after we got married but you know there's some back and forth and some compromise that takes place to get that living space whether it's your bedroom or the kitchen or the dining room just exactly how you like it and it's a reflection of your personalities and those things you hold dear and maybe a place that reminds you of search certain joyous events in your life that's the goal anyway psychologist Matt vegus says though something can happen in all of our homes and that word a bit more of a modern term named Clutter some of you just kind of uh just uh something went down your spine when I even said that word clutter but it has a way of creeping into our lives slowly but steadily taking over our spaces and over our minds and the impact of clutter just keep saying that home John to use those fear tactics you know to to to get provoke that emotional response is more significant than you might think affecting not just our physical surroundings but it can also affect our wellbeing he calls it psychologist Matt Vegas he says there is a clutter epidemic he says over 80% of individuals I won't ask for a show of hands here this morning find themselves grappling with Stress and Anxiety directly linked to clutter in their living spaces this statistic emphasizes the pervasive impact of clutter on our mental well-being he says within the average American home lies a staggering 300,000 items you're supposed to go thank you few of you showcasing the extent to which possessions accumulate and contribute to a cluttered environment don't get offended by the images that are that are shown if you still have you know your Christmas tree up uh from the Hol no nobody's this is a a a judge a judge free zone but Americans spend 2.7 billion doll a year in storage units clutter impacts mental health eating habits and it increases your workload there's even a thing called digital clutter I'm really about to stress some of you out would you show that first image for Di digital clutter if you're a desktop file saver shame on you in the altar you come up right now to the altar or maybe you're this person here with your text oh my hopefully hopefully God there there is a a time for repentance and today today is your day but in the digital age clutter can extend beyond our physical spaces the average person receives around 121 emails a day contributing to this digital clutter and this decreased productivity Additionally the average American accumulates over 1,000 digital files on their computer infas iing the necessity of organizing even your virtual space so to recap it affects your focus and concentration it can damage your health it steals your time it takes your peace it can impact your relationships it drains your energy it waste your money it packs on stress it can increase depression and anxiety but in a spiritual sense the impact that the clutter in our lives can have on our spiritual homes what about the inner sanctuaries as referred to in the New Testament that our bodies are for the Holy Spirit of our hearts and Minds how well tended I ask you this morning are those spaces are they cluttered with the debris of Doubt skepticism stress insecurity shame fear and what do the accumulation of these emotions and these potential mindsets or triggers or the experiences of life real experiences that can bring on these emotions with the accumulation of all of these things together mixed in with the CL of the digital age mixed in with the stresses of life from my workplace to school to my home in the cares of Life all of these things accumulated together could these things perhaps create a blockade for the flow of God's grace and the hind hindering of the manifestation of miracles in our lives well that's just that's a bit too Earthly that that a it's a too much of uh reality when I think about miracles well is it we just read how the onset the first action in the miracle from our key text the first thing that Jesus did when he stepped in to the place where a miracle needed to take place was he removed all of those people that were there lamenting and full of doubt the focus being decluttering our spiritual homes the focus being making room in our life for miracles to take place by removing the obstacles that prevent us from experiencing the fullness of God's power he made such a powerful statement that I want us to take from today today's lesson of Be not Afraid only believe and just as we clear out the physical clutter to create a more peaceful and inviting living space so too we must cre create and clear out the spiritual clutter that weighs down the spiritual woman and spiritual man that prevents us from living in God's abundance and joy the gospel of Mark tells us the story story of jeras the synagogue leader whose daughter was Gravely ill desperate he falls to the feet of Jesus no other option desperate for Jesus to intervene in his situation pleading for him to come and heal her and Jesus agrees and as they make their way to the home of jerius they encounter a crowd of mourners a crowd of lamenters who seemed so eager to let him know that your daughter while you were gone while you were trying to have God manifest in flesh intervene in your situation you missed jarus the final moments with your daughter what a devastating blow that would be one that could easily Crush the hope one that could easily extinguish the spirit but Jesus but Jesus overhearing their words of doubt and despair says to jaras and a confident manner Be not Afraid only believe and when they arrive at the house Jesus encounters a chaotic and our modern term that will use cluttered scene filled with weeping filled with wailing and he enters the room where the child lies and says why of all this commotion why all this wailing the child is not dead but asleep the crowd skeptical the crowd scorn ful begins to Mock and laugh these were these were lamenters these were those that were supposed to be mourning over the death one would think that if Jesus stepped in the room saying that the girl is you would you would think that their countenance would change but they begin to Mock and they begin to laugh at the words of Jesus they had seen and had seen in the past death with with their own eyes and their doubt prevents them from even entertaining the possibility of a miracle and this particular portion of scripture always just intrigued me quite a bit and I began to look at a few commentaries surrounding it and in Geneva Study Bible commentary it states this regarding the mourners In this passage it states the laughter of the crowd reflects their disbelief and Scorn in the cultural context of the time professional mourners were often hired to Lament The Dead and their laughter indicates a lack of faith in Jesus power over death this reaction is reminiscent of the skepticism Jesus faced through throughout his ministry the very thing that was in their house the very thing that was scoffing at them and taking up the space and laughing over the possibility of a miracle taking place they were essentially being financed and funded by the homeowner they were being paid for to be there crying you would think a Hired Gun would uh uh change their countenance when they're begin hope or maybe it would potentially put them out of a job those folks were hired there to lament those folks were hired there to cry those folks were hired there to say your daughter is dead and now at the possibility of a miracle they double down even further and say we've seen death before we were here at the last moments and they also appear to be kind of rubbing it in a little bit to jarus you should have been here in the last moments of your daughter's death you were out trying to Wrangle up some guy that's claiming to be the Messiah but you missed the last moments of your daughter's life and now you're here with this man Jesus and he's saying she's not dead just to sleep and all the time all the time they're going to send him in invoice for it which makes me think how many things in our life do we pass over our credit card information for or maybe you're a little bit better with your finances or exchange it with cash that are the very things in our lives in our homes that are a blockade from our families receiving the blessings of God are the very things that are the obstacle for myself receiving and hearing what God wants me to be the very things that are a dam blocking the flow of God's grace and mercy the very things stopping the ability for Faith to be increased for God's miracles to take place on this day it's an inventory that we must make in every single one of our lives and every single one of our homes the things the entertainment that we place before our eyes the lyrics of the world's ballads that we place in our ears mix this in with the things we read and the news that we're bombarded with and the reals that we scroll through in our digital clutter and our physical clutter and our stressors of life and our uh conflict in our interpersonal relationships and then the Health crisis that comes along in our life and all of these things get mixed together and we can find oursel overstimulated and overwhelmed and unsure of what direction to take but Jesus then takes a decisive step of all of the miracles of Jesus this is one of the ones that just stand out to me the most that you you wish I could I wish I could hear his tone of voice and I wish I could see how he stepped into that room because I don't think even though we know he stands at the door and knocks I I don't think he just kind of bashfully went in there and said hey guys I I'm going to need you all to leave cuz uh I'm going to raise her from the dead so as soon as you all get done crying and lamenting y'all y'all go ahead and exit I don't misinterpret me or taking too much latitude and flexibility with scripture but with I don't think that's how he entered the room I believe that he showed up very familiar with the practice of these lamenters and the practice of these mourners and he may have even looked over at jerus you came to get me you hired these folks to come uh lament over over your father over your daughter's death I believe that he stepped into that room and he looked at every scorner and every mocker and everyone that laughed and everyone that had doubt and everyone that said there's a miracle that can't take place he said get out of this house get out of this room there's a miracle about to take place mom and dad you stay because I know you have faith Peter James and John you've got you boys stay with me I know that you have believe I know that you've seen Miracles and in the presence of all the faithful there had to be an atmosphere and he had to clear out the Clutter if you will he had to clear out the doubt and the skepticism and the mocking before the miracle took place he creates a space of Faith he clears the room of the doubters he clears the room of the Skeptics he clears the room of the naysayers he said get out of this house Jesus is good at clearing out houses of things that shouldn't be there he creates a sanctuary where belief can take root and belief can flourish I don't think it's a stretch to say this morning that the atmosphere is a vital ingredient for a miracle to take place I don't think it's a stretch this morning to say that there's some things that we need to do in our life to make room for God's blessings and to make room for for the Miracles that God is ready to do in our lives but nobody can do it for you you have to make the determination of yourself that I'm not going to allow this doubt to overtake my mind I'm not going to allow this insecurity or skepticism to overtake my mind I've made some mistakes in the past yes there's some things that I wish I could go back and change but I'm not going to live a life of regret I'm not going to walk in shame I'm going to put those things out out of my life because I know God is wanting to do something amazing and miraculous for me the atmosphere is important and within that purified space surrounded only by the child's parents and a few close disciples we see Jesus performing the miracle and he takes the little girl by the hand saying to Letha Kumai damsel arise and she stands up immediately and begins to walk this reminds us that Miracles take place when we clear out some of the obstacles and the doubt and the weariness in our lives our faith is not simply a matter of intellectual Ascent it's a living breathing force that grows strong stronger through exercise and weakens through neglect doubt left unchecked can erode our faith and prevent us from experiencing the fullness of God's power in our lives therefore we must be vigilant we must be aware we must consistently take inventory it's that sometimes you don't Praise by accident sometimes you don't pray by accident sometimes you don't walk in faith by accident actually very rarely do you ever do any of those things often times it's a fight often times it's a spiritual battle often times it's a confrontation of you saying I am getting this out of my house we must identify the sources of doubt that creep into our hearts and minds and give us this modern day spiritual clutter so how do we declutter our spiritual homes and make room for a Miracles number one you have to identify the sources of Doubt ask where it's coming from ask what is provoking it why are these recurring thoughts entering my mind why do I believe in this certain manner are there experiences in my life that are navigating why I am approaching a situation in the manner that I am is it rooted in past hurts is it rooted in past disappointments is it rooted in alleged unanswered prayers and I make light not one of those single things but I want to point out that God has a covenantal promise for every single one of us a promise to provide a promise to bless a promise to heal Psalms 139:23 it says search me God and know my heart test me and know my anxious thoughts because he wants to be the difference in whatever you're facing we must identify those sources and and and allow scripture to address it number two we must confront and challenge those negative thoughts when doubts arise we must challenge their validity every single one of us will have an urge to quit every single one of us will have an urge to let go and stop doing what God has called us to do are my negative thoughts based on facts or are they based on assumptions and fears I must replace the negativity in my life with the Positive AF formations based on God's word and his covenantal promise that are promised from generation to generation to generation I must put my hope in the immutable God who never changes who said that his word is true and is the same yesterday today and forever 2 Corinthians 10:5 says we demolish arguments and every pretention that SS itself up against the knowledge of God and we take take captive say I take captive we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ I'm taking I'm taking a stronghold on every single thought that enters my mind that's contrary to what God has called me to be this isn't just positive thinking this isn't just aimless uh hope but I'm talking about getting in the scripture which leads me to number three you must immerse yourself in the scripture immerse yourself in the scripture get into God's word and see what he's saying to you in the predicament that you found yourself in the Bible is a powerful weapon regularly reading and meditating on God's word will strengthen your faith and it will remind you of his faithfulness and power the Bible combats all of these auor or mentioned clutter in our lives regularly reading strengthens faith and reminds us that faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word about Christ what you need is in this book the best way to declutter those things in your mind and on your heart and in your lives is to immerse yourself in this book because this will work as a sanctification process and it'll begin to clear out all of those things that are keeping you from walking in what God has called you to do number four I hope this isn't oversimplified we must pray for greater faith I begin to think about that and that's easy to say but you know what I I don't know if I've ever you know just phrased it in that manner to say God give me greater Faith Lord give me let me walk in belief L go Lord strengthen strengthen my faith like that verse that he he says just be still be confident fear not just believe don't hesitate to ask God God for help in any of these things that can clutter your spiritual man or spiritual woman he's faithful to answer the prayers of those who seek him with sincere Hearts as you pray ask God to reveal himself to you in New and Powerful ways that's a bit revelatory to me I'm going to start praying God reveal yourself to me God Show Me Your Glory God show me your power Lord Lord build my faith to expect a miracle today Lord build my faith that I can walk into a room and say doubt get out skepticism get out insecurity get out and let your Miracles flow in this house that might be a I hope that's not too pragmatic for you or too practical application and whatever you're facing but I would give you an invitation to just call on that name Jesus where you get in immerse yourself in his scripture and his book when you call out on his name it's filled with every covenantal promises and say Jesus I need a miracle today Jesus I need you to touch my family today Jesus I need you to touch this conflict today Lord I'm Your Vessel please lead me please guide me if there be any filth in my home if there be any filth in this spiritual man Lord remove that Grudge Lord remove those hard feelings Lord remove Hebrews 10 tells us and let us consider how we I like this translation says may spur one another how we may lift up one another toward love and Good Deeds not giving up meeting together that's it's so important to gather together as some or in the habit of doing but encouraging one another all the more as you see the day approaching doubt can enter my mind and I can be insecure about things and not even an altar service not even the Praise Team singing and it's that's amazing but just getting around likeminded Believers can just talk about a pump you talk about uh energized you talk about spurred or iron sharpening IR it just something about getting around likeminded Believers that say Hey I'm I'm here with you and you you can do that man that just does something that does something to me Pastor Whitley preached about this a few weeks ago number six and there's only seven so don't worry focus on God's past faithfulness recall the times in your life when you're in these Seasons when God has been faithful remembering his past faithfulness can strengthen your belief in the present and for future provision Psalms tells us I will remember the Deeds of the Lord yes I will remember of your miracles of long ago and as evidence this morning I would give an invitation I wonder if there was anybody in the house and the musician s and the singers can go ahead and be making their way up I wonder if there's anyone in the house in this congregation that was to be as so bold as to stand up as a walking talking testimony as a walking talking Miracle to say that God has performed the miraculous in my life oh my word whatever you're dealing with today would you just look around oh I'm beginning to be strengthened I know that testimony I know that testimony I know that testimony I know that testimony oh remember we used to sing that song Look What the Lord Has Done oh when I begin to remember about the Miracles when I remember about what he's done for his people I know that what I'm facing right now I can come right at it I can confront it and say get out of my house get out of my thoughts get out of this is My Sanctuary there's going to be life in this place there's going to be healing in this place God's spirit's going to move in this place remain standing and number seven number seven is practicing gratitude cultivating an attitude of gratitude that can shift our Focus from our apparent lack to the great Bountiful blessings that God has already given us because something begins to happen when we start speaking words of Life over in the Middle East at lowest sea level there's a body of water called the Dead Sea and it's dead because things flow into it but it never gives out the Jordan River that flowing living body of water that Jesus was baptized in that we sing about and hold in such admiration that body of water that living water flows into it but the Dead Sea there's no life there's no marine life there's no trees growing around it there's no vegetation everything around it is dead because it only takes it only takes and it never gives and when we're only focused on speaking in those manners of those emotions that going to take over our life I'm not doubting and I'm not minimizing any type of experience that you have but I'm talking about walking in what God wants us to be in joy in happiness there's are things that we have to confront in our life but when we start start speaking words of Joy when we start speaking words of gratitude when I say something as simple which it really is as simple at as all of Lord thank you for waking me up this morning God I thank you for my family Lord I Thank you for my job I thank you for my family I thank you for my church family Lord when I'm weak I can get around those with a testimony and my spirit is strengthened as we close this morning we're bombarded with messages that promote skepticism and cism we live in an age of information overload and this extends to every single capacity of our life with conflicting opinions and conflicting ideologies and all of these things also compete for our attention and all of them aren't inherently sinful but they accumulation of all these things builds up to an extent that I'm unable to hear God's voice and there's no room for God to do anything in my life and we can lose sight we can lose sight in some of those things we're paying for but I believe this morning across this house when we pray that prayer of search My Heart Lord I Lord build my faith I'm belie even for an inventory this morning of clearing out some things and that God's Miracles are going to move in this house on this morning with every head bowed let's pray that prayer this morning Lord I Thank You Lord I start off my prayer this morning by giving you thanks Lord search My Heart Lord let me identify those things in my life that keep me from hearing and obeying your word and that are a faith limiter in my life Lord I say get out of my house right now Lord I say get those things out of my house that stop and prevent your blessings and your Miracles taking place and Lord after I've cleaned those out right now after I've cleaned those out right now Lord I believe there's going to be life in my situation oh Tuma damel rise rise and I'm going to begin to get up and walk in newness of Life In The Name of Jesus sing about the power of that name we pray in Jesus name you're the exalted one Jesus you have the power alone you now is the time now is the time his spirit is moving you've cleared it out there's no reason to think about it anymore push it out of your life push it out get out of my house let his Spirit move the power you the only Jesus the difference in somebody's life today might be you reaching over and putting a hand on him and saying I'm praying with you I'm here with you I'm believing with you and I believe God's going to do it you saw all the testimonies you saw all the Miracles and the same thing that he did for them is the same thing that he's going to do for you don't let anybody pray alone this morning don't let anybody pray alone this morning say I'm with you I'm with you there's more people for you than there are against you don't let anybody pray alone this morning yes Jesus yes Jesus exed higher [Music] Ander [Music] know [Music] know is healing in there is Sal in the name of Jesus there is healing in his name there's power in his name there's like Jesus there power in his there's noer name it's the name all be exed be exed be exalted be exalted higher and higher be [Music] exed be exalted his spirit is moving in this house Miracles are in this house right now Lord grant us the faith right now Lord build our belief right now Lord I want to see your glory Lord your promise says you're the same yesterday today and forever I can't wait a day longer I can't wait a moment longer Lord I need you to show up right now my situation is dead the things in my life are dead I need your resurrecting power right now in this moment if I got to go find you wherever I got to find you however desperate I got to get Lord I'm getting these things that I've been funding out of my life I'm getting these things that I've been sitting with and dwell in on out of my life and I'm expecting and I'm believing for your Miracles just to move on this day would you worship Him worship Him worship that [Music] great there's no name like the name of Jesus there's salvation in the name of Jesus [Music] heing power in his there's Deliverance in [Music] his like Jesus there's healing power in his there's deliver in the Jesus I love that there's no [Music] the be exalted be exalted be exalted be exed higher and higher exed be exalted be exalted Lord be exalted [Music] be exed higher and higher exalted be exalted be exalted be exalted be exalted higher and higher be exed be exalted be exalted higher and higher no other name name I [Music] know Sal in his there's healing in his there Del in the of Jesus [Music] [Applause] [Music] thees be exed be exalted be exalted higher and higher be exalted be exalted be exed higher and [Music] higher the Holy Ghost is in the room we don't have to wait until camp meeting for you to get the Holy Ghost we don't have to wait until conference is here for you to get your Miracle it's here right now and I open up service and I said it it happens according to your faith as we heard today does anybody have any faith to believe that Jesus can do something for you but I wonder if somebody would lift up their hands I know he' already felt his Spirit but there is Ministry taking place here and I want you to lift up your voice and I want you to tell him what you have need of and I want you to believe that he can do it not in July not in September but today today in February come on would you lift up your voice one more time father in the name of Jesus you see every need every situ ation you seen every problem every circumstance there's not one too big there's not one too small but father we believe that you can do all things and you can do anything and we are extending our faith we are extending Our Hope towards you if you have never been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ the only Bible way to be baptized we will baptize you today we've got somebody here who will baptize you right now who will baptize you and you can be buried with Christ and you can come up a new creation old things can be passed away is is there anybody in this room today who wants to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ look around look around we got one to be baptized one in Jesus name we got one isn't there anybody else we've got one anybody else wants to get baptized today this is no pressure but I want to tell you this is the Bible Way that if you want to be in Christ we are buried with him in baptism and we will baptize you in jesus' name is there anyone else is there anyone else we have one we have some sisters brother Jeremy can you help me with this this is what we're here for this is what it's all about we're making room we are making room for Jesus to save lives to heal and redeem why don't you turn around and just pray for somebody one more time I know we've had great ministry in word but pray for somebody one more time I don't want to rush I don't want to rush through what the Lord is doing and what he's been doing but you're here for a reason and when we pray for each other great things happen Faith begins to extend and where your faith ends their faith May begin in Jesus name in Jesus name in Jesus [Music] name in Jesus name father work healing and work Restoration in Jesus name they're going to sing again but I want you just to feel free to worship I want you to feel free to pray with somebody if you've got a good word to give to somebody I pray that you would do that but they're going to sing one more time as we to get ready to baptize one if there's somebody else will'll baptize you as well I don't want you to leave here without your miracle I don't want you to leave here without new life because Jesus is here and anything can happen come on would you lift up your hands as they begin to sing one more time Jesus the most wonderful name of all Nam Jesus The Only Name that brings [Music] Freedom when I speak your name mountains move chains are I when I speak your when I speak your name [Music] Darkness it no on Jesus the most beautiful name that I know you're the exted one Jesus you have the power of you live the L one Jesus beautiful name that I know you're the [Music] ex Jesus you have the power you is the [Music] Jesus be exed be [Music] exed be exalted I know I [Music] know [Music] know [Music] know other I know no other name no other name I know no other name no other name I [Music] know we are so excited this morning about Malia taking on the name of Jesus taking on the name of Jesus the greatest Miracle when we take on his name we're going to extend our hands forward and we're going to pray a prayer over sister Malia as she takes on the name of Jesus in baptism let's pray right now together Heavenly Father Lord we thank you God we thank you for what you have done on this day Lord we thank you particularly what you have done for Malia today Lord as she takes your name on in baptism Lord we pray a prayer of protection around her heart and around her mind as she goes out and is the manifestation of Your Love In this world father today we believe there are going to be individuals that are led to Heaven Led unto your great gospel and the revelation of Jesus Christ through Malia's testimony and her being a walking talking Miracle sermon for you Lord we thank you for this day and we celebrate in the name of Jesus we pray malah upon the profession of your faith and in obedience to the word of of God I do now indeed baptize you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins some be exalted be exalted yes Jesus yes Jesus Lord we've been room for a miracle this morning Lord your Miracles and
