well that's what I said to them and that's what I've been saying for many years now this has been a rather lengthy service already but oh I'll keep it in my bank of memories what a treasure it is to hear my wife say what she said what a treasure to hear Pastor Mark McCool but I have a message it's not a real long message but could you stand to hear a message from me tonight all right we've taken this time we've talked about the past and what's just happened my topic tonight I've given it to our video genius brother I hope I don't embarrass uh brother Derek by saying that but he really and truly is such a genius with these things and uh Pastor Anthony they've worked together on these slides but my topic tonight is live in the present look to the Future but don't forget who you are and brother Williams gave me another subtitle today don't squander your legacy and I felt like that fit in with what God had given me Chicago tribute magazine nine uh 1 1996 following a ray a Rags to Riches since season that led them to the Rose Bowl their first in decades Northwestern universities Wildcats met with Coach Gary Barnett for the opening of spring training as always found their seats as players found their seats Barnett announced that he was going to hand out the awards that many Wildcats had earned in 1995. some players exchanged glances Barnett does not normally dwell on the past but as the coach continued to call players forward and handed them their placards proclaiming their achievements they were cheered on by their teammates one of the other coaches gave Barnett a placard representing his 17 National Coach of the Year Awards then as the plot the as the Applause subsided Barnett walked to a trash can marked 1995. he took an admiring glance at his placard been dumped in the can and the silence that followed one by one the team's Stars dumped their placards on top of Barnes Parliament placard Barnett had shouted a message without uttering a word what you did in 1995 what I did in 1948 what we did in 1968 now he said what we did in 1995 was terrific lads but look at the calendar it's 1996. it's great to celebrate the accomplishments of the past but with God our best days are always ahead because of their sin and Disobedience God have allowed his people to be defeated by Nebuchadnezzar and taken to Babylon as servants for 70 years after which God raised up King Cyrus King of Persia and gave him a heart and an attitude to allow his people to return to Jerusalem with the king's blessing and command for everyone to assist with gold and silver for the furtherance of the project the following is the record Ezra 1 1-3 now in the first year of Cyrus King of Persia that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus King of Persia that he made of reclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing thus saith Cyrus King of Persia and as in any Silas King of Persia had defeated the former Administration that Nebuchadnezzar was now in the past there is a new king and the Lord started the spirit of Sorrows King of Persia he made a proclamation throughout all the kingdom and put it in writing thus saith Cyrus King of Persia the Lord God Of Heaven have given me all the kingdoms of the earth and have charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah who is there among you of all his people his God be with him and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and build the house of the Lord God of Israel he is the god which is in Jerusalem after 70 years just think about it they'd been under the influence of paganism and worldliness Babylon has always represented the world in the Bible it's a worldly uh terminology after 70 years we're getting to go home to Jerusalem what a scramble there must have been for so many to pack up and go home but wait there must be an organized system and verse after verse after verse there's a checking of the records of their genealogy if you read this it's just so many names that you can't pronounce one right after another but it was all recorded in their genealogy and checking of the records of their genealogy let us look at the efficient records keeping of 70 years let's start at verse 64 of chapter 2. the whole congregation together was 42 303 score besides their servants and their Maids of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven and there were among them 200 singing amen and singing women their horses were 736 their mules 245. they're camels 435 their asses 6720 and some of the chief of the fathers when they came to the house of the Lord which was at Jerusalem offered freely for the house of God to set it up in its place that gave as after their ability to the treasure for the work therefore now but but but but but wait wait let's go back there seems to be a certain group which have turned into difficulty with their passport their genealogy seems to be flawed of all people it's among the ministry the priesthood of all people the governor steps in and makes a startling ruling let's go back to verse 61 and see if we can find what the problem after all of this strict record griefing they've hit a roadblock and there's a group that there's something wrong with their pedigree there's something wrong with their genealogy there were 652 people who couldn't prove their Jewish ancestry the towns mentioned were in Babylon not in Judah zerubbabel and Joshua didn't send these people back but allowed them the right of passage but only as strangers now they were former priests but something happened in their past that they could no longer be recognized as priests we are told how many priests were unable to provide adequate credentials but we're told that they were excluded from serving in the temple no doubt some men thought they could enter the priesthood and have a much easier life living in Jerusalem but zerubbabel rejected them God had made it clear that any Outsider who attempted to serve at the altar would be put to death numbers 151. these men were treated as strangers and allowed to make the journey but zerubbabel Governor excluded them from the Priestly privileges until they could be tested by the urum and Thurman this was a means provided for the high priest to determine God's will we read about the fabulous breastplate that the high priest wore with all kind of of jewels in it but in that there was a little pocket of some little Stones it was called urom and Thurman and all the Bible it does not explain how it was used it only says that it hung around era's neck and on his heart and stayed on his heart continually and I thought of that the man of God today if we hear from God we've got to have it land on our heart day and night constantly some that were looked upon as Israelites by birth and others as priests and yet could not make out a clear title to thou honor there are some that could not prevent that could not prove themselves Israelites a considerable number who presumed they were of the seed of Jacob but could not produce their pedigree and yet would go up to Jerusalem having an affection to the house and the people of God they were ashamed to those who were true-born Israelites and yet we're not called Israelites indeed who came out of the Waters of Judah Isaiah 48 and 1 but had lost the appreciation please listen they had lost the appreciation of those Waters there were others that could not prove themselves priests and yet were supposed to be of the seed of Aaron what is not preserved and appreciated will soon be forgotten and denied let me tell you something the reason you hear Acts 2 38 over and over again if I Don't Preach enough for these men don't preach it you're not going to believe it for very long these these men had been down in Babylon so long they had failed to stand up for what was right they had failed to execute the office of the the priesthood and that which is not appreciated will soon be forgotten now then let's dig a little deeper into these men who were disqualified and of the children of the priests the children of habaya the children of cause the children of Brazil which took a wife of the daughters of barcelium the gilenite and was called after his name these sought their registry among those that were reckoned by genealogy but they were not found therefore were they not they were polluted and they were put forth from the priesthood then the governor said unto them that they should not eat of the most holy things till they stood up a priest with Europe and with women one of their ancestors had married a daughter of barcelium that great man whom we read of in David's time The Descent of Aaron felt proud to be in that honorable famous family are y'all following me here is a priest that thought more of the family name of a rich powerful famous man that the name of the high priest and I fear that there are those today that are more interested in being accepted by the world than they are for standing up for the real true Apostolic message it wasn't just the marrying into the honorable barcelius family but in doing so he lost the family priesthood name and would have his children called by barzalia's family name thus forfeiting their pedigree reserved in the registry of the House of Aaron and so they lost it some would rather have their son or daughter be famous in the world of entertainment they would have them to be a Pentecostal child of God there are those that rather have their son to be on the football team or their daughter to be one of the cheerleaders or they would like to be recognized in some high position but let me tell you something the greatest honor they will ever have is to see these little children around here shouting and dancing they they may not know what it's all about but they feel something and they love to come to church let me tell you and if we're not careful we will sell out we will give and there's no place for us to let up on preaching repentance water baptism in Jesus name filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues we must keep on preaching or we'll lose them and the name must be Supreme the Bible said God has highly exalted him and given him a name that is above every name [Applause] there were those they knew how many cattle they had they knew how many horses they had they knew how many camels they had I mean they kept great records but when it got down to who are you what's your name uh well you see my great great great great great great grandchild was Aaron what I don't say so in the record it says you are brows allele that rich man that everybody respects him oh yeah well what happened he married a daughter of barcelium instead of her taking his name he took her name now you stop and think about that for a minute if we are careful instead of US changing the world the world will change us [Applause] it's one thing and it's a Godly thing for us to get down on the level of The Sinner and and preach to and pray for it and and find out and get a sinner saved but I want you to know when we start acting like them and when you stay with them so long you will start acting like them and before you know you're going to lose the Zeal you're going to lose the determination and you'll be ashamed to be called Jesus name you want to be called something else brother blevitt said something to me a year or two ago he said he was looking online at some of the used to be Apostolic churches and to find out what they believed and they would avoid putting in that they believed in water baptism in Jesus name it was some of them even said We Believe similar to Billy Graham or we believe similar to so and so because they wanted to identify with something that was popular and something acceptable well these priests who could one time eat of the food that's on the altar those who were blessed by the people the levitical priesthood they didn't have to own land they didn't have to farm the land they were blessed by the congregations and supported but when they got to looking at the world and wanted to be like barzalia they lost the privilege of being a high priest and they look for their registry and they couldn't find it barcelia found the name thus forfeiting their privilege preserved in the register of the House of Aaron and so they lost it in Babylon there was nothing to be gained by the priesthood and therefore they did not care for preserving the name they may feel like there's nothing to be gained to be in the world that rather be but let me tell you something there is so much to be gained to be in this world in this church I remember it'll always dwell in my mind sister Brenda Wilson told this story someone was telling her oh you have to give up so much to be Pentecost you give up she said oh it's not what I have to give up it's What I Gain I gain so much more by being what I am and when we start looking at this thing and we need to lift up the name if God highly exalted him and gave him a name that's above every name we need to be exalting that name and not be ashamed of it we don't have to be arrogant we don't have to be rude we don't have to be crude the picture found acceptable words and we can preach the truth and we can preach it in love but I don't want to marry a Babylon person and take on their name I want to be in Jesus name one God Apostolic Holiness preacher I'm still a Holiness preacher gave them a hand clap those who think their Ministry or their relation to ministers is the meaning or a disparagement to them they forget what Paul said in Romans 11 13 Paul said I magnify my office we need to magnify this church we need to magnify this name we need to magnify this Doctrine you see what they lost with it it could not be taken for granted that they were priests when they could not produce their proof let me tell you something the Bible said that the god of Highly exalted and give you the names above every name and now then the Gentiles upon whom my name is called we must never lose our Zeal for loving what we preach loving this Doctrine now that the priest had recovered their rights and had the altar to live upon again they would gladly be looked upon as priests but they had sold their Birthright for honor of being of the House of barcelium and therefore were justly degraded and forbidden to eat of the most holy things no Christ said he would be ashamed of you if he's if you were ashamed of him we need to be more proud more thankful and more blessed to be this of this name than any other thing we'll just stand to your feet with me right now ah I hesitated knowing what I said such a great service we've had to preach this message but I feel God wanted me to preach it Peter said in second Peter 1 12-16 wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things though you know them and be established in this present truth yea I think at me as long as I'm in this Tabernacle to stir you up by putting you in remembrance knowing that shortly I must put off this my Tabernacle even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance you see I felt it incumbent upon me I knew most of the men are knew about them and believe the same truth that we believed but I wanted to take the opportunity to re-establish and reiterate my love for this great message of Jesus name Apostolic Holiness the Healer the Holy Ghost baptizer the one that you can depend on that's what I wanted to do then and that's what I am doing tonight and what I feel like doing after this absolute fantastic Service as to having a prayer meeting of Thanksgiving of this great truth now I'm not preaching for you to be rude or crude or to be unfriendly I'm I'm preaching for you to preach what we believe and to preach it in love and continue to live it let our little children who was it this week the little one I said tell Bishop how many gods they are tell Bishop how many gods they are and and the little thing I don't know I couldn't talk but but it helped up one finger we need to be teaching it to our children and not all of that we need to teach them the God is still yet the Healer and the prayers the musicians are here I want to ask us at this glorious service now I'd like for us to all together around this Altar and have a prayer of Thanksgiving for this wonderful Truth for as I've said in my speech before if I can do any honor at all it's because honor of the name and all of us we are do the honor of giving him the honor because it's his name as the musicians play Let's thank God for our heritage let's thank God for our genealogy thank him for his goodness tonight everyone let's worship Him worship Him right now just have a timer if you need them if you don't have the Holy Ghost you of our ministers and Elders please and I want Pastor Whitley and sister Ashley to come at this time I'd like them to step right down front please Pastor Whitley and sister Ashley will be leaving tomorrow on a mission's journey First Apostolic churches reaching literally around the world and they are going to be going to Poland to minister in a conference there for our aljc missionaries and they are going into a part of the world that there's a lot of unrest very nearby and I'm asking our church family I'd like for all the church family to reach toward them when we pray and we're praying for safety protection and for souls for their labor could we all pray together right now Mighty God I love you God I come before you now Lord pleading the blood for safety Lord pleading the blood for care send your holy angels to encamp around brother and sister Whitley as they Minister for you God I pray that you would give them souls for their labor let the power of the Holy Ghost work through them Lord we're living in a dangerous World we're living in an evil world but we bind the powers of the enemy that would limit the gospel from being spread for your word commissioned us to go to all the world and preach the gospel now Lord I Thank you for your hand and we know that you will do the work we honor your presence in the name of Jesus we pray amen and amen First Apostolic church I love
