Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The lesson and its focus
- The lesson is entitled The Unseen Harvest, in the series on the Gospel of John
- The focus verse is read at the head: he that reapeth receiveth wages and gathereth fruit unto life eternal, that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together
- He displays bound copies of the church's Voice of Pentecost papers, first published June 25, 1968, and reads from their pages
Scriptures: John 4:36
Do not overlook the labourers God sends
- The Pharisees questioned John's authority from his outward appearance, though God had sent him
- Samuel at the house of Jesse is the warning: man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart
- David was discounted by his father, Gideon discounted himself, and Samuel was a child when God took him
- Amos answered that he was no prophet's son but a herdman, and the Lord took him as he followed the flock and sent him to prophesy
Scriptures: John 1:25; Amos 7:14-15
He must needs go through Samaria
- Jesus left Judea for Galilee and must needs go through Samaria, coming to Jacob's well at the sixth hour
- He tells his own Knoxville beginnings: evangelising, then a tent, a basement, an eight-foot-wide trailer, and a season of wondering whether he was in the will of God
- With no food in the house, he and his wife went out inviting people to Sunday school, and came home to a box of groceries left on the porch
- Jesus sits wearied on the well because a woman is coming who needs him, and asks her for a drink
- The woman is met at noon, alone, with five husbands behind her and a man who is not her husband
- Jesus refuses the controversy of who is greatest and offers living water that springs up into everlasting life
Scriptures: John 4:1-38
God gives others the opportunity to serve
- The Lord had need of the colt, though the first chapter of John says all things were made by him
- The lad's five loaves and the man carrying a pitcher of water are the same lesson: God requires his people to bring what they have
- John 3:16 is read: God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son
- Colossians 1 is read: redemption through his blood, the image of the invisible God, and the head of the body, the church
- True worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in truth, neither in the mountain nor at Jerusalem
Scriptures: Mark 11:2-3; John 1:1, 3; John 3:16; Colossians 1:14-18
Labourers together with God
- Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy
- Job esteemed the words of God's mouth more than his necessary food
- The closing reading stands the class: Paul planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase
- Every worker in the house, on the platform or in the parking lot, is God's husbandry and God's building
Scriptures: Psalm 107:1-2; Job 23:12; 1 Corinthians 3:4-9

praise the Lord everyone we greet you tonight in that wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ The Only Name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved and I want to join with Pastor mul and and requesting prayer for sister Gardner we want to you may not understand what I'm saying but there's a scripture in the Bible that gets my attention it said that Jesus went a little further and prayed more earnestly now I cannot conceive of Jesus praying a prayer that wasn't in Earnest but there's depths of earnestness desperation from the days of John the Baptist to now the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence and the violent take it by for so uh there is levels and depths of uh and degrees of us uh getting down to business with God and we do want to be praying for sister Garden want to continue to pray for sister Kathy Williams she's now in rehab she's been moved from UT hospital and I talked to brother Mike a little while ago and she is improving and and uh it's a a rather long process but uh she is improving and sister Kathy I know you're listening tonight you and brother Mike and we are indeed praying for you and we're going to pray here in a few minutes and then I want to say we are so glad to have brother flaty home he's a traveling evangelist he's an apostle Paul and he's a and we are so glad to have him back home tonight it's all always a joy to see him and all the family of God when we gather together and um let's pray right now for these requests father we thank you for a prayer answering God we thank you that you do care and understand we do pray uh more earnestly for sister Gardner you know what she needs we are asking for a touch from the hand of God and we continue to pray for sister Kathy and Lord the others in our church there are so many whose names we may not be able to quickly call them but you know each and every name and we pray for each one of them I pray Lord that you'll bless this Bible study tonight as we study the word of the Lord amen and amen we're going to do a little something tonight I hold in my hand a a little a folder that has two years of uh voice of Pentecost papers you probably are seeing it on the screen about now this is what it looked like and the first uh voice of Pentecost was published on June the 25th 1968 the very first copy and uh it was printed and mailed out everyone that that attended our church and gave us gave us their name an address we put them on the mailing list and we eventually accumulated up to 3,000 names and we were mailing these every week no charge and it finally became it's kind of like the dinosaur we outgrew ourselves and I believe in 1984 is when we finally stopped publishing it but um I have kept many of these copies and I've had I I have two particular Years brother Bill Jenkins and Pontiac Michigan bound together in in order and Staple in with a commercial stapler and S and whoever I think I think brother Jenkins passed away but someone sent them to me and I have them in my position possession and um I'm going to scan just a little bit of uh these uh voice of Pentecost papers here and this little thing right here we'll go with our Bible study because tonight the Bible study is entitled the Unseen Harvest and uh this little article says little sermons do not expect God to use you as a ligh house somewhere else if you cannot be a candle where you are say I thought that was I thought that was pretty good workers are welcome Saturday 9:30 a.m. we're meeting at the church to work on the house which we are making into a Sunday School annex and youth center all workers are welcome we hope that very soon we can announce the completion of the remodeling so we can begin our youth activity everyone pray for the Youth of the church as there is a good move on and we want to see many more added to the numbers you some of you probably remember there was a a house right by behind our church across one Avenue which was actually an alley and the folks moved out we bought that house and knocked the petitions out of it and made a youth center and and just look what Youth Center we've got now just just think of what God has done for us and U here's another little article if you don't have the baptism of the Holy Ghost if you have a nagging sickness or problem I challenge you to join uh with us fasting and prayer and be with us this Saturday night Sunday morning and Sunday night and see what God can and will do for you God is the master of cancer heart trouble or any disease he's the Holy Ghost baptizer come let us prove him and his Mighty works and we had every every week we had what we call the song of the week and this one is entitled pity the man I guess we should pity the man in this world who must use the Earth for a bed and I guess we should pity the man who must to From Dawn Till Earth till dust to for his bread but these can be rich if they have contentment and sharing God's salvation plan but if you know any who though they have plenty are lost then pity the man pity the man who has Treasures on Earth and he owns not the pearl of great price pity the man though he lives long on Earth and he knows not The Giver of Life doctor or lawyer traveler or Merchant Builder who builds on the sand poer or King to be saved that's the thing if it's lost then pity the man just hold the Applause if you know and I noticed something else in here that was interesting it says brother Jimmy Deus who's been seeking the baptism of the Holy Ghost this was back in 1968 brother Jimmy debus who's been seeking the baptism of the Holy Ghost for some months was baptized in Jesus name Sunday night November the 10th we're all praying for brother Jim to soon receive that Heavenly gift well he did receive that wonderful gift and it's kept him a long long time brother Jim we appreciate you and I thought it was rather interesting to go back and uh read a few of these things and uh some of you were not here at that time many of you were not here at that time but some of you were and thank God for it well we have a great lesson tonight I I've enjoyed studying this lesson the Unseen Harvest our Focus verse is John 4:36 and he that reapeth receiveth wages and gather fruit unto life eternal that both he that sth and he that reapeth may Rejoice to together and then I I our lesson uh Hopscotch is here and there and I like to go back in a chapter and and get the background and study it as it was put in the in the book and so John chapter 4 of these lesson series one is on on John it's lesson 1.2 tonight when therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus Jus made and baptized more disciples than John you see the Pharisees were self-appointed authorities on who could perform religious activities uh now they they felt like they they could approve or disapprove of who was able to perform religious activity uh Jesus said but whosoever drinketh of the wait a minute I'm jumped all all the way over to to uh page six John 1:25 and they asked him John said unto him why baptizes thou if thou be not that Christ nor elas neither the prophet now this is what the Pharisees said of John the Baptist what are you doing out there preaching if and and baptizing folks you say you're not El lias you're not uh this or not that said what who gives you the authority Authority at to preach you are neither Christ Elias nor neither any of the prophets now we sometimes Overlook our most effective laborers by looking on the outward appearance now they were looking at John's outward appearance he was clothed in in Camel's hair his food was Locust and wild honey and he came preaching in the wilderness saying prepare you the way of the Lord and and and said make his path straight he's going to bring all the mountains Down The Valleys up and U but he said uh I must uh decrease and he must increase and the Pharisees didn't improve him a a a bit now we sometimes Overlook our most effective laborers looking on the outward appearance for one David you remember when Samuel went to the house of Jesse and God told him look not on his outward appearance because God's refused him man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart uh sometime we look at somebody and we make a a visual evaluation of what we think they could do and we either approve or disapprove you don't know what God can do with what looks like uh very weak material a and uh when David when uh the seven sons of Jesse passed before Samuel they allil would not come out of the Horn of oil and when when they passed by they first of all passed by the oldest one the next and he surely will be the one and finally when they all passed by and God didn't anoint any of them then Samuel said to is this all of your sons he said I have one left but said he's just a kid and said he's keeping the sheep and uh didn't think there's any use to bring him in here well Samuel said send and get him said we'll not sit down till he comes hether and when they brought him in God said anoint him for this is a man well now this man when he goes down later on when his father sent him to see about his brothers when they were in war with the Philistines and he took uh the the Bunch for them and when he went there was no fighting going on everything was at a standstill and David said why are we at a stand still why isn't there not fighting and then his brothers rebuked him and said uh you just we know the naughtiness of your heart you've come down to see the excitement of the battle and and David said what tell me why are we not fighting well they tell him about this 9- foot giant well you know the story he says I'll go fight him and he made such a fuss they brought him before Saul who who was uh Head and Shoulders taller than anybody else and he was convincing enough to Saul Saul said you're just a lad you can't fight this man he's a he's a warrior of many years and he told him about killing The Lion and the bear with his hands and so on so I I think I'll let you go so here take my take my armor my boots my shield my sword and when by the time he got done dressing David with his armor and David could hardly walk he and he threw it aside he said I hav impr proven myself with a sword and the thought comes to us that sometimes those who will not cannot do something they can tell somebody else how to do it I've told you the story of brother Goble nuk was an elderly man that helped us here in this church when we first started building many years ago and when was on Colombia and he started to he was going to uh sell eggs and he building a big h house for the and a fellow down the road came by and and told him that he was doing it all wrong and he said I didn't realize you knew so much about raising chickens and eggs oh he said yes I went broke in that business well that's a pretty good uh that's a that's a pretty good recommendation well we sometimes overlook some very valuable workers Samuel himself remember at the age of of about five he he was turned over to the man of God and his mother made him a a little epod a little little garment lik to Eli the the priest and he became a great worker don't overlook somebody that God's got his hand on and we're talking about the hidden Harvest now we're looking for uh workers to go in that Harvest be careful who you discount Samuel was a one who was discounted Gideon he he discounted himself why he said I'm the smallest of all said you call me a strong and mighty man why he said my family is the poorest of all and you call me Mighty and it said we're the we're the worst God said wait a minute I've got my hand on you and I'll show you a thing or two and when he let Fire come down from heaven lick up the the the the broth and all the good things God showed him gave him a little courage then I want you to notice in Amos 7:14 and 15 then answered Amos and said to amziah I was no Prophet neither was I prophet's son but I was a Herdman and a gatherer of sycamore fruit and the Lord took me as I I followed the flock and the Lord said to me go prophesy unto My People Israel now Amos he was being told to shut his mouth and quit preaching quit preaching against God's people or Israel that disobeyed God and he turned to amziah and he said when God called me I told him that I was no prophet's son I was a Herdman I was a I was a cowboy and a gather of sycamore fruit and the Lord took me as I followed the flock and the Lord said go prophesy unto My People Israel now when God calls you the devil can't stop you now my father used to have an old say and he would testify that some was called and some was sent and some just bundled up and went and there's a big difference to being called and being sent and if God send you he'll stand with you you see Jesus called the most unlikely he called fishermen he called tax collectors and the most unlikely of all Saul of Tarsus a blasphemer and a murderer but God called him and told him he had a special Ministry for him now we're talking about the the the hidden Harvest be careful that we don't over look what God sends our way or your way to help us harvest the Harvest though Jesus him out in in verse two though Jesus himself baptized not but his disciples when his disciples baptized it was the same as Jesus baptizing now we're in this first part of the chapter four of John and it tells about the minister of John and then Jesus and it said that Jesus he himself he baptized more uh converts than John and though Jesus himself baptized not but his disciples now what this is saying is Jesus didn't physically baptize them himself perhaps it would be um some feeling that they were more honored more honorable for him to baptize them but it was the same effect if the disciples baptized them as if Jesus baptized them let me tell you something when the man of God up here baptizes you in jesus' name he may be a 18y old or a 14 he may be a 15 I was 11 years old when I baptized my first convert in 1948 in the the the Little River and uh just uh and when I got out in the water deep enough to baptize them I was they was up to their waist and it was up to my neck and I realized at the last minute I had a problem on my hands and and so I I quickly made an evaluation the bank was sloping and I got on the high side and I bapti my first convert I baptized him and I said my ceremony right and I baptized him and his arm and leg stuck out he didn't all go under now this was my first baptizing I said wait a minute when you bury a man you don't leave a leg standing out you so I said it again and baptize him and so help me he didn't all go to the next time and I baptized that fellow three times and that's rid of the truth but I want you to know that dead man got buried it might have been a show full of time at a time but he got he got buried in Jesus name now that stuck and that counted now let us not discount the laborers that God is sending in the field verse three he left Judea and departed again to Galilee now he left now according to the commentaries uh and the behavior of of the Pharisees and the enemies it was getting more dangerous all the time so Jesus was moving further away from Jerusalem rather than closer now Jesus wasn't afraid of death he was more afraid of folks trying to crown him as king but he wasn't afraid of death and he wasn't moving away because he didn't want to die it wasn't time for him to die it was in God's dispensation now there's something that we need to understand sometime we do not coincide with or cooperate with God's timing God there's a time that God answers every prayer you pray sometimes he says no sometimes he says wait and sometimes he answers right then don't be discouraged obey God listen and wait they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall Mount up with wings as eagles they shall run and not be wary they shall walk and not faint now the next verse says he where he left Judea and departed again to Galilee and he must needs go through Samaria now that that verse has more meaning to it than you might realize Samaria might have been the most direct route to his destination but that was not the reason for that statement he must needs go through Samaria then he cometh to the city of Samaria which is called siker near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph and Jacob's Well was there Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey at thus on the well and it was about the sixth hour now sometimes our seed sewing Journey leaves us weared hungry and waiting for a potential convert you've heard me tell my own experience right here in Knoxville uh I prayed for God to answer give me I I was weary I was burned out and I was sitting on the side of the well wearied with my my journey and and and I lay in the Floor of that pink and white used trailer that we had bought 8T wide and 41t long and I laay there and I cried a puddle of tears and God tell me am I in the will of God lord maybe I'm maybe I've missed you maybe I missed the will of God have somebody have a preacher to call me right now do something to let me know that I'm really in the will of God sister mol and I had been evangelizing we'd preached in big churches like uh brother Al Holmes and and Little Rock Arkansas and uh Cincinnati Ohio Pontiac Michigan and some of the largest churches in Pentecost and now here I had come to the city of Knoxville with an old ragged tent and uh now then we started in a a basement and now I I I didn't know whether I was in the will of God or not sometimes God will let us wait on him and and don't get in too big of a hurry with God I've told you a little bit about this last week but by sometimes God send somebody like my wife that when we started evangelizing and she would say there's someday going to be a a good church in Knoxville Tennessee and and sure enough there is but God had to let me come back to Knoxville after after 5 years now Jesus didn't go to Sam he must needs go through Samaria not because Jacob's Well was there not because it was a parcel of ground that that Jacob gave to his son Joseph not because of it was a convenient place but there was somebody in that area that needed Jesus and Jesus knew it I want to tell you something sometimes you may not know why God send you where you are where you are at the present time but wait upon the Lord you'll find out that God has got a purpose in everything he does sometimes our seed sewing Journey leaves us weird hungry and waiting for our potential convert uh sister mul and I we buy cold 50 cents a bag back then you could buy a bag of coal for 50 cents we didn't have the money to buy a ton of coal we didn't and we finally didn't have enough money to buy a Bago I broke up an old uh uh chair and a couch chair the a couch frame out back of the house at on V Street in South Knoxville and used it to to heat with but I God was proving me God was letting me wait until the time came now they that waited on the Lord shout we was waiting for our potential convert and one day we had no food in the house and sister mul and I said well we have nothing else to do let's go visit for Sunday school let's go invite people to church and uh brother Peters and and uh the Apostolic Church in Kingsport that donated us a a big school bus a 66 passenger School Bus well we could put our whole church in that bus at that time but we were out visiting uh inviting people to church no food in the house no money to buy cold and and when we got back to our house there was a pasteboard box sitting on our porch and we looked in it and there was all the staple Goods that you would normally go to the grocery store and buy everything from salt and sugar to uh lard and and beans and potatoes and everything you you needed for about a week's groceries brother and sister Robert Perry had gone out and bought us a bill of groceries and left it on our front porch let me tell you God will provide this building that you're setting in tonight is here paid for because God has provided he has supplied he said he would Supply our needs according to his riches and Glory well we're talking about the hidden Harvest all right why did he go to to this city what why was he there why was he weary sitting on the side his disciples had gone into the city to buy meat it was at noon time it the 6th hour it was the hottest time of the day it was the middle of the day day when nobody came to that well and Jesus was sitting on the well there cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water Jesus said to her give me the drink give me the drink Jesus often puts himself in the position of apparent need to give somebody else something to do sometimes I think I must have thought of that when I was late getting sister mol home the first date when the fellow followed us and r i was B out of gas and I couldn't find the service station open and and I had to sihon gas out of my car to go in his and and I smelt like a a gas tank myself and when I got to her house the first thing I said when I went I said sister cook could you give a thirsty man of drink of water well I figured if I could get her mind off of her being late and giv me a and it worked Jesus said give me to drink Jesus often puts himself in the position of a parent need to give others opportunity to serve now in Mark 11 uh starting at at verse two uh and said unto them go your way into the village now he was getting ready to ride into town on the Victorious donkey and as they would say blessed hosan is he that cometh in the name of the Lord they were going to throw uh uh tree limbs and and coats and everything down his path as he came through town but that was not prepared yet and so Jesus told his disciples go your way into the village over against you and as soon as you be entered into it shall find a cult tied where on never man set loose him and bring him to me and if any man say unto you why do you this say ye that the Lord hath need of him and straightway he will send him hether wait wait a minute now the first chapter of John said in the beginning was the word the word was with God and the Word was God all things were made by him and without him there was not anything made that was made the first donkey that was ever made Jesus made him the first mule was ever made Jesus made him because the Bible said all things were made by him and without him there was not anything made that was made yet Jesus said if they ask you what you in time that Co for said tell them the master have needed of him oh yes Jesus could have said let there be donkey he could have said let there be a cult and he could have created one just that quick but he didn't he gave them the opportunity to go and find that which was needed there's a lot of things he can do but he's going to depend on you and me to do it he's going to give us a job to do tell them the master hath need of him you remember the lad that had the the the Five Loaves now after they fed 15,000 they that's been estimated that there was 5,000 men and including the women and children the commentaries say there's probably about 15,000 if Jesus could feed 15,000 with five little barley loaves well if he needed anything he could say let the be loaves but he turned to his disciples said what you going to do how you how are you going to feed them well Philip said Lord 200 pennies worth of bread is not enough that they' all take a little Andrew said Lord there's a lad here that's got five barley loaves I don't know how he knew that but he did and Jesus says bring him to me Jesus didn't have to have that Jesus didn't need that kid Jesus didn't need his lunchbox Jesus didn't need his Five Loaves in a basket but he required them to do something on their own bring him to me God didn't need a little 11 year old sharecropper boy cotton picker in Southeast Missouri God didn't need me he didn't need it here he was out there barefooted picking cotton had no had no accomplishment other than I felt like I was a the the the champion cotton picker for my age of at 7 years old I picked 203 lb of cotton and one day man that was my badge of accomplishment Jesus didn't need me but yet he looked down and saw the sharecropper son and said son I'm going to have you to preach my gospel oh he didn't have to have me but thank God thank God he didn't have to do it but he did it when they needed a place to eat the Last Supper it's called The Last Supper the there was the Passover supper and they needed a place to eat it and they didn't Jesus told the disciples said go to a certain place and said you'll see a man carrying a picture of water said follow him my goodness how come that to be Jesus first of all knew the faithfulness faithfulness of a man carrying a picture of water he must have been there every day Jesus said there'll be a man carrying a picture what said follow him I want you to know God is looking for faithfulness in small things if you can't be a candle you'll never be a Lighthouse if you can't carry a picture of water then you're not going to be able to carry the gospel that's right they were in terrible shape they were outnumbered war was going on and finally somebody said do we have a man of God Among Us you know it's amazing how sometimes we look for the man of God as the last resort when it should be the first thing we do but sometimes it's the it's the last resort and do we have a man of God Among Us and somebody said well I don't know uh we got a fell here by the name of Elisha and said he used to pour water on the hands of Elijah boy that was a great accomplishment wasn't it what a what a pedigree what a reputation what a certificate of accomplishment we've we got a man here named Elisha and and he used to pour water on the hands of Elijah I said go get him and they went and got him and Elisha said all right let me tell you here's what we're going to do you want me to guide you here's what God says now sir this takes a whole lot of faith to believe what he he said now all your warriors put them in the back and said all the music musicians and singers said put them up front now how silly can you get put the Warriors behind and put all you musicians and your singers out front and start singing this song the beauty of Holiness Holiness un the Lord and now let me tell you something if we'll just listen to God he's going to take care of the situation and the singers and the worshippers went out front singing the beauty of Holiness let me tell you we don't need Fighters we need worshippers we need worshippers that lift up the name of Jesus and sing praises to the lord well excuse me if you please you'll find that Cod If any man said to you why do you do this say the Lord needs him verse eight for his a IES were going to way into the city to buy meat they had gone to buy meat because it was noon time and it was the normal time that in that part of the that's when they ate at noon time and they were going into the city to buy meat now even this I think was directed by the Lord Jesus needed a personal representation and a personal relationship with somebody that was in bad need of him then said the woman of Samaria unto him how is it that thou being a Jew as drink of me which I'm a woman of Samaria for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans now Jesus sat wearied on the well and here came this woman and uh said Jesus said to her give me the drink and she said how is this that you being a Jew asked me a Samaritan Jesus answered and said un her if you knewest the gift of God if you knew I don't need a bumper sticker that says acts 238 or hell I don't need a flag that says Holiness or hell I need a banner that says if you only knew the the gift of God if you only knew what we've got to offer the the message of Salvation if you that's what we need we need a better that said if you only knew what we've got over here oh Hallelujah come and get it buy without price Jesus said unto her if thou knowest the gift of God what is the gift of God John 3:16 Says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son God became flesh the invisible God became visible through the body of Jesus Christ that he may take our sins upon himself and now then if you only knew that if you could only understand that thou wouldest have asked of him and he would have given thee The Living Waters the woman said him sir thou Hast nothing to draw with and the well is deep from whence then hast thou that Living Waters now they say the commentaries say and even missionaries in our time said that particular well was 100 ft deep it took a cord or rope 100 ft long to reach the water and the woman said to the Jesus the well is deep from when then hast thou that Living Waters art thou greater than our father Jacob which gave us the well and drank thereof himself and his children and his cattle now I want you to noce something he asked her uh she asked him a question are you greater than our father Jacob she was leading him into a controversial discussion are you greater Jesus didn't uh dive into a discussion and an argument of who was the greatest he didn't he didn't pay that in intention when she said are you greater than our father Jacob that gave us the well and he drank thereof himself and his children and his cattle Jesus refused to get into a controversy as to who was the greatest we ought to let that be a lesson to us there's some folks that Pro you just to get you into an argument that does no good I can tell you one thing Jesus loves you I can tell you the Plan of Salvation but I don't have any time to argue with you over whose church is the greatest and who has the greatest program and who's the greatest preacher who's the greatest this or that I can tell you this if you knew the gift of God Jesus answered and said unto her whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again you see all the natural Pleasures eats drinks excessive Indulgence drugs leaves one dissatisfied and wanting more it's called diminishing returns which means a rate of yield that Beyond a certain point fails to increase in proportion to additional investment of Labor or Capital benefits that Beyond a certain point fail to increase in proportion to extend to Extended efforts that's why so many of the wealthy entertainers die of Overdose they have to have more and more substance to get the same pleasure they got before and they got the money to buy it and they take more and more and more until it takes their life Jesus said whosoever drink of this water that I give him shall never thirst it's not something that diminishing returns that it gets less and less effective sweeter gets a journey every day serving Jesus really pays I get happy and happy way because let me tell you something we found it this is that and he said the water that I give him he'll never thirst I got a blessing last week from the preaching I got a blessing the week before of the preaching and every time I hear this choir sings the next song they sing is going to make me happy the one that just sung made me happy I can't get happy I Can't Get Enough joy in my soul just to Rejoice over what I'm hearing it don't get old it don't diminish it just keeps on the the the the child song says this bubbly this is what we play at the house sometimes in Old Callaway he'll dance and and clap his hands it's bubbling it's bubbling it's bubbling in my soul it's bubbling it's bubbling let me tell you it just keeps on bubbling up poor sister Kelly sister cool today we kept uh Callaway and sister muda is a she's an absolute genius I'm telling you the truth she is a genius not because she found a the man like me that might have been one of her weak points but she she got three stainless steel bowls and set them in the in a chair one was this size one was this size one was that they were different sizes and they each one made a a different sound and she gave him two long handled Wooden Spoons and he knew what to do with them I mean to tell you if he didn't beat those drums he and this one it's to be Tong and be blow and he would just make them all you see we found out the joy of the Lord is in our children in our family and what God does for us and well let me get on with this get sidetracked with her great grandchildren that's you'll have to forgive me because you've got great grand some of you have got great grandchildren and you're just as proud of yours as I am of mine all right the well is springing up into everlasting life it's bubbling it's bubbling this world this world's drink leads to death and destruction but the Jesus drink leads to ever lasting life oh what a oh what a comparison the the this world's drink where it's alcohol or uh they they do everything from Sniff and gasoline to paint cans to whatever to get out of their mind but you see the the the Jesus drink that we got the well the water it will never it'll never thirst it's all because he said it's in you and it's springing up into everlasting life oh could we not sell that product could we not give that if we're going to if we're going to be Harvesters of could we not make that a settling Point well let us go on Jesus and the woman said him sir give me the water I that I thirst not neither come e to draw Jesus said to her go call thy husband and come hither go call thy husband Jesus has a way of helping us face our difficult dilemas and then he gives us a remedy he lets us face our dilemma but he don't leave us in it he gives us a remedy Carol McGruder go wrote the song years ago there was a woman who came to Jesus she was was taken in her sins cast down at his feet that day she was guilty and condemned the law said she must pay the price or mistakes that she had made but her shame became rejoicing when she heard the Savior say I forgive you I forgive you go thy way and sin no more let me tell you something friend we've got the greatest product in this world why can't we package it in in a in a position and a in a coat that folks could see how precious it is instead of being harsh and hateful With It Go call your husband just has a way of helping us face our most difficult dilemma and then gives us a remedy the woman answered and said husband I have no husband Jesus said to her her thou Hast well said I have no husband for thou has had five husbands and he whom thou now Hast is not thy husband in that sayest thou truly probably a bestseller book could be written or a movie could be made about the woman who had five husbands consider her days her ways her pain her shame her suffering she may have endured an outcast by the town's upper class the reason she came to the well at noon time it was common for the women of the town to come to the well at evening time it was not only a necessity but a social event when they exchange gossip news recipes stories about new babies grandbabies but this woman had would not have been welcome she had had five husbands and was living with a man with whom she was not married now this condition was not only condemned but with certain segments of their religious Society it could mean the death penalty she could be stoned to death but she came at Noonday when nobody would be there it was the heat of the day everybody was having dinner she could go to that well by herself and get her water her picture of water and get back home in seclusion in uh in autonomy but when she got to that day there was a man sitting on the side of that well and said woman give me a drink you look like a Jew to me Jews don't have anything to do with us and then the conversation ensued now he found a woman in terrible condition now remember our lesson is the hidden Harvest we'll get to the point here before we're finished she said to him sir I perceive that thou art a prophet our fathers worshiped in this mountain and you say that in Jerusalem is where men ought to worship Jesus said to her woman believe me the hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain nor Jerusalem worship the father you worship you know not what we know what we worship for salvations of the Jews now the day is going to come that you're not going to be worshiping in this mountain or at Jerusalem why because I'm going to have a new church and your body is the Temple of the Holy Ghost and if you're on a a busy sidewalk if you're in the jungles of of Africa if you're on the side roads of Missouri whatever you can have church wherever you are because the well is in you and is springing up into everlasting life oh what a promise but the hour cometh and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth for the father seeketh such to worship him God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and Truth Now the spirit have not Flesh and Bones as you see me have one time Jesus said Colossians 1:14 in whom we have Redemption through his blood even the forgiveness of sin who is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of every creature for by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in Earth visible and invisible whether they be Thrones dominions or principalities or Powers all things were created by Him and for and he is the head of the body the church oh this is why it don't matter if it's on the mountain or if it's at jerus J or it's Charo or it's Knoxville Tennessee he is the head of the body of the church who is the beginning of the firstborn of the Dead that in all things he might have preeminence you see he is before all things and by him all things consist the woman said unto him I know that messiah's cometh which is Christ when he's come he'll tell us all things when he comes lady when he comes oh my this this Thrills me woman this is your day Jesus said to her I that speaketh unto thee am he and a and upon this came his disciples and Marvel that he talked with the woman yet no man saith why seekest thou or why talkest thou with her the woman let me pause there just a little bit they came and they didn't say anything to him but they wondered why is he talking to this woman could it be her reputation had had preceded her did but they didn't say anything out of their respect to Jesus why is he speaking to this woman let me tell you something some may wonder why we minister to this age or that age or to this group or that Group Well the reason is a soul has no color it has no economic level it has no positive or negative a soul is a soul and God loves the soul and we love every soul it don't matter how rich or how poor how what color you may be it don't matter and they why is he talk why is he talking to her because she is's part of that Harvest and you fellas are overlooking a fantastic Harvest right here because you look at now let me let me go further I know the messiah's coming the woman then left her water pot and went her way into the City and said to the men come see a man which told me all things that ever I did is not this the Christ the first thing a real convert will do is start telling others about what they've got the the the the the best evangelist we'll ever have is ourselves Psalms 1071 and2 oh give thanks unto the Lord for he is good for his mercy endureth forever let the redeemed of the Lord say so let the redeemed reded of the Lord say so whom Heath redeemed from the hand of the enemy in the meanwhile his disciples prayed him saying Master eat but he said to them I have meat to eat that you know not of therefore said the disciples one to another hath any man brought him ought to eat Jesus said unto them my meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work job 23:12 says neither have I gone back from the Commandment of his lips I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food at this point Jesus is about to inform his disciples that they had just witnessed an unlikely ready Harvest verse 35 he says say not ye there are yet four months and then comes the Harvest behold I say unto you lift up your eyes open your eyes look around lift up your eyes and look on the fields for they're white already to harvest you see we often look for programs and special opportunities to be an evangelist or missionary while Jesus is saying not in four months then cometh the Harvest but lift up your eyes and look on the fields here comes a sad downcast woman to draw water this is your field of harvest and he that receiveth wages and gather fruit unto life eternal that both he that Seth and he that reapeth may Rejoice together and herein is that saying true one sth another reapeth I'll send you to reap that's whereon you bestowed no labor other men's labor and you are entered into their labors now before I go further uh sometimes we can look for special opportunities and let pass right by us the Harvest that's ready to be harvested and what Jesus said is lift up your eyes you're looking for something it was here all the time and you didn't see it I came here to to to minister to this downcast adulterous woman you didn't see it but I saw it I want to tell you something First Apostolic church we must not be looking for the high and the mighty and the low and the lonely we must be looking for one and all for we are looking for Harvest lift up your eyes and look around there's somebody on your street there's somebody in your family there's a son there's a daughter there a grandchild look at it it's here first Corinthians 34 and9 would you stand with me please 1 Corinthians 3: 4-9 for while one saith I'm of Paul and another I'm of Apollos are you not carnal who then is Paul and who is Apollos but ministers by whom you believe even as the lord gave to every man I have planted apollis watered but God gave the increase so then neither is he that planteth anything neither he that WTH but God that giveth the increase now he that planteth and he that WTH are one and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor for we are laborers together with God ye are God's husbandry that's someone that takes care of the The Vineyard ye are God's Building there is not a person in this building and I do not mean to diminish the great choir great singers I can't sing like brother Jeremy I can't sing like brother Dominic I can't direct like sister Ashley you can't either maybe but let me tell you something if you're out there picking up McDonald boxes and cans in the parking lot on Saturday to keep this place looking presentable God is taking note of that and you are part of the ministry you may not ever step your foot on this platform you may not ever preach a sermon you may not can preach in a travel like brother Flanery you may not can preach like Pastor Whitley Pastor Anthony Pastor Mark you me but let me tell you something you are just as important and just as valuable in the kingdom of God as any of the rest you you are God's husbandry you are God's Building for we are laborers together with god father we thank you for this service tonight thank you for the privilege of teaching the word of the Lord I pray God that you will let the word of God sink deep into our hearts and may we understand how important we are in the kingdom of God may we continue to be workers in the vineyard for you told us in your word through your leaders that Paul Peter uh Apollos that none of them were any more special than anyone here in this church and everybody's going to get a reward I reward your people for being in this service tonight bring us back at the next appointed time in Jesus name we pray amen continue to pray for our sick folks pray more earnestly for sister Gardner uh
