Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Building the Temple

  • The study is lesson 1.3, 'Building the Temple', in the series on David and Solomon; the focus verse is Solomon's word to Hiram: I purpose to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God.
  • David wanted to build the house, and God would not let him; the teacher warns against the jealousy that rises when God passes a man by, reaching back to Cain and Abel as the first jealousy in the human family.
  • He traces the trouble jealousy and unchecked desire brought into David's own house — Amnon's sin against his sister and the murders and insurrection that followed among David's sons — as the shadow over the house David could not build.

Scriptures: 1 Kings 5:5

David's Charge and Preparation

  • David charges Solomon: now, my son, the Lord be with thee, and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God — only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, be strong and of good courage, dread not nor be dismayed.
  • He marvels at what David prepared in his trouble: the gold and silver tallied in talents, which by the figures the teacher researched runs to billions — God could trust David with money because money never owned him.
  • David calls the house God's footstool — who is so great as to build God a house, when five billion people stand on this one footstool — and the teacher reads that the glory of the latter house shall be greater than of the former, applying it to the Spirit-filled upper room against the grandeur of Solomon's temple.

Scriptures: 1 Chronicles 22:11-14; 1 Chronicles 28:2; Haggai 2:9

A Broken and Contrite Spirit

  • David's sacrifices were refused where his heart was wrong: God wants a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart, and David, the sweet psalmist, came back confessing his sin rather than covering it.
  • The cleansing of the leper — two birds, cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop, one bird killed over running water and the living bird dipped and let loose — is read as the pattern of cleansing by blood and water.
  • Naaman's dipping in Jordan is set beside the cleansing, and the teacher names Peter's answer on the day of Pentecost: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the promise is unto you and to your children.

Scriptures: Acts 2:38-39

Workmen in Abundance

  • Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance — hewers and workers of stone and timber — and the teacher turns it on this congregation: some of the hardest workers in the house of God are the least seen.
  • He honors the unseen labour — the men who haul the trash, Stanley and Jim and Roger; sister Betty Pierce managing the cafeteria; brother Kevin handing him water bottle after water bottle; brother Jim opening doors — and tells his own speeding-ticket story on his preacher's license plates.
  • He closes the movement with the picture of the church's janitor, a retired professional ballplayer carrying four World Series rings, who took the job to keep his mind occupied — salt-of-the-earth men who find something to do in the house of God.

Scriptures: 1 Chronicles 22:15

Hiram and Solomon

  • The lesson returns to its head text and reads the whole exchange: Hiram, who was ever a lover of David, sends his servants to Solomon, and the two kings make a league together.
  • Solomon's return message rehearses why David could not build and asks for cedar and fir trees from Lebanon, promising wages for Hiram's servants; Hiram answers with joy — blessed be the Lord this day, which hath given unto David a wise son.
  • The teacher applies the friendship across the years to the congregation and dismisses the class in the name of the Lord.

we greet you tonight in the wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ The Only Name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved I quote that about every time I take a service because it's so important that there's no other name that will do what that name will do their names that mean money names it means political power names it means sports power names it means all kinds of things but there's no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved that wonderful name of Jesus and I'm so glad to see you here tonight um I appreciate having you in our Bible class um I'd love for you to have helped me we have a lot of folks that's not in any other class but they're they need to be here on Wednesday night to study the word of the Lord and that's very important we we believe in singing and shouting dancing and running and jumping and we also believe in settling down and just studying the word of the Lord that's very important and tonight we are study we've got a great lesson it's a lesson 1.3 it would have been taught if it was teaching it on Sunday would have been September the 17th but uh it's entitled building the Temple now this series of lessons is about David and Solomon and the Bible says that all scripture is given by inspiration of God everything that's written it's inspired of God in the Bible and it's for our edification and our instruction and every line has something to tell us if we'll study it he's telling us something in the word of the Lord and tonight building the Temple this is a very important and exciting lesson as far as I'm concerned father we thank you for the privilege of being in the house of God tonight we thank you for the privilege of being able to have Bible study and study the word of the Lord I pray that you will anoint the lips of clay to open our hearts and Minds that we may be able to impart the word of God and that our hearts will be open to receive it in Jesus name we pray the focused verse is found in First Kings 5 and 5 and brother Derek and you folks upstairs um I think you have a a quick way of finding a scripture and I have sent you the the lesson but there may be some scripture that I'll give you that you might want to use your expertise and and getting you on the screen for us this verse says and behold I propose to build a house under the name of the Lord my God as the Lord spake unto David my father saying thy son whom I was set upon thy throne in thy room he shall build a house unto my name now this is this is a a very strategic lesson because of course the the focus verse is Solomon talking but he's talking about what God told his his father and and Solomon is going to do something that David wanted to do and should have done but there were reasons that he couldn't do it and and there is room for Jealousy on both sides a one thing for for Solomon to have to say now this is all because of my daddy my father got this from the Lord but I'm going to have to do it but but the Lord told my father this and he could have had a little jealousy toward David as a the two first Brothers uh uh Cain and Abel it was their jealousy of one another over one being favored more of God than the other they it created a circumstance that a murderer was uh created and so so we we hear Solomon and behold I proposed a building house unto the name of the Lord my God as the Lord spake unto David my father saying thy son whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room he shall build unto my build a house under my name now then David could have very easily been jealous of Solomon because this was a high honor because they had worshiped in in a tent in a tabernacle all throughout their Journeys from Egypt through the to the promised land and it had been an old drab tent they had worshiped God in and and now then David is desperately wanting to build God of a house but we're going to find out from tonight's lesson that God wouldn't he was a man after God's Own Heart but God was not going to let him build it build the house but he's going to let his son do it and you and I can learn a lesson from this um I made mention on the way to church we met a man and a woman that walking had a little girl a little boy just a little little tossed just in fact one of my thinks being carried and I said isn't that so beautiful to see how precious and beautiful little children are but then to see how many of them will be growing up to be ugly nasty have bad habits and will turn and there will be nothing like that little child that we saw walking up the street but if they have the right teaching if they have the right parents and the right influence on their life what a blessing it could be to see them grow up loving God and and so now then David had much to grievable where he had he had one son that was a rapist he had another son that was a murderer he had a uh he had some very Adam another son that was a insurrectionist that uh overthrew him for a period of time so David had a had a house full of kids and there were not all Angels he had some bad ones but he had one that God said is going to be my king and he's going to build me a house now the man that should have been in line to take the throne was was amnon and he was the one that raped his sister and and I'll never I'll never get it out of my mind when he called his sister into his bedroom and played off like he was sick and when she brought him food he grabbed a hold of her and and proceeded to rape her and she she uttered some of the most faithful words she said wherefore shall I make my reproach what am I going to do how am I going to live this down I I'm a virgin and I'll be a virgin no more and he she said and as for you you're just going to be another fool in Israel from a prince to a fool and one act he was the oldest son and literally should have been the one in line of taking the throne but he allowed his instincts of of of lust rule him and she told him you're just another fool if we're not careful what we could we could be a prince or a princess or we could be a fool with one act now the without going into the details uh two years later now the the brother said told her uh don't don't worry it'll be all right but he waited two years and he had him killed when the family when the brothers were having an outing he and he paid with his life so how much do we have to read and study to teach us some things to do and things not to do okay well let's go on into this because there were a little bit off of the line but we're talking about David and Solomon tonight building the Temple First Chronicles 22 11-16 now my son the Lord be with thee and prosper and the Lord be with me and prosper thou and build the house of the Lord thy God as he hath said of thee only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding and give the charge concerning Israel that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God number one is not building the house number one is having the wisdom of God and keeping the laws of God according to what God had laid down and nothing else matters if we break the law of God and we go against the rules of God you're going to pay a terrible price then shall thou prosper if thou take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel be strong and of good courage Dreadnought nor be dismayed now if you if you'll notice what is what he's saying here that don't don't dread it don't fear it just go ahead and do what God says for you to do some of us it's Sunday morning we've got to go to church again no I get to go to church we get to go to church I I love the little video of my grand uh my granddaughter-in-law is that what she is is over there is that what Kelly is she's my granddaughter-in-law all right uh she sends us some of the most beautiful videos and she talked to Callaway the other day and said you want to go to church and I mean he went to the door and started clawing that clawing at the door he was he was wanting to get out of there and and and go to church that's where he wanted to go and then she sent us another video of him down here shouting and praising the Lord and dancing and he may not know what it's all about but those little girls that that they dress up scantily and let them play like they're a cheerleader and and and doing their dances they don't know what it's all about yet either but they will know by and by and these little children that we see around this altar are praying and singing and shouting if you'll stay with them that's what they're going to grow up to learn and know and that's what they're going to be if we can teach our children to walk in the ways of the Lord somebody give the Lord a hand [Applause] um well you're going to have to to kind of bear with me just a little bit because I'm a I'm a little bit on the exciting uh sign tonight as I I get into this lesson Now Behold David's Talking Now Behold in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold and a thousand thousand talents of silver that's a million a thousand thousand and of brass of iron without weight for it is in abundance Timber also and stone have I prepared and thou mayest add there to let me pause there just a little bit and we'll go back uh to another another scripture um and um in the book of First Chronicles chapter 22 and uh verse 14. um tell you what let's do upstairs if you could get me first Chronicles uh 28 and two uh and let me see it on the screen if I can a first Chronicles 28 and 2. then David the king stood up upon his feet and said hear me my brethren and my people as for me I have in my heart to build a house of rest for the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God you talk about a footstool let me read you some of the statistics and some of the requirements and the benefits and what kind of material went into that footstool and First Chronicles 22 14 and behold in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold and a thousand thousand talents of silver and a brass and iron without weight for it is in abundance Timber also and stone have I prepared and thou mayest add there too we just read that and what I'm what I've laid aside you can add to it The Spoils of War and the Frugal lifestyle of David had made it possible for him to amass a sizable sum to give to the building of the house of God a pattern of goal when 3 000 shekels and was worth five thousand seventy five pounds 15 Shillings seven Pence half penny one hundred thousand such talents were therefore amount to five hundred and seven million 578 125 pound sterling now I did some research on this some years ago and uh I had some help in calculating the the British Sterling and and today's money but this is what it came to a tablet of silver weighed 3 000 shekels and was worth 353 pounds 11 Shillings and 10 pence or the immense sum of 353 million 566 pounds 13 Shillings and four Pence Sterling both sums amounting to 800 and 61 million 169 791 pounds 13 Shillings and four Pence are in American money it would amount to 2 billion 411 million 275 414 dollars that's a pretty nice footstool would you say that's a pretty nice footstool but now let me tell you what Hagar said about it in uh uh hey guys writing he said but glory of the latter house is going to be greater than the former now all this 2 billion so many million dollars that David had laid aside it don't compare to a little meeting in the upper room on the day of Pentecost when the 120 received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and got born again of the water of the spirit no wonder Hagar said and the glory of the latter house is going to be glory it's going to be greater than the former verse 2 said the iron in abundance without measure verse 3 brass in abundance without weight verse four cedar trees in abundance verse 5 a house must be magnifical that's another word for magnificent verse 15 Workman in abundance there was no strikes there was no walking out there was no uh begging for higher wages but Workman in abundance verse 28 fleshooks even the fleshooks were of gold gold bowls and cups and basins of gold at up the cost it would be mind-boggling and First Chronicles 28 and 2 David said we're building God a footstool and as I said what a footstool and Hagar said Hagar 2 and 9 the latter house shall be greater than the former at the completion of the building of the house of God Solomon gave a peace offering of 22 000 oxen 120 000 sheep but David said the circumstances I'm under God will not accept burnt offerings and sacrifices what in the world are you gonna do when you've got all of this to give and and now David said God won't accept it what's the problem God's always accepted burnt offerings and sacrifices before not David Israel's fair-haired singer songwriter and poet but now he prays for God to open his closed mouth and let him speak and wait what a gift do you give when you've committed the sin that David had committed adultery with another man's wife having the man put to death there's no amount of money that David could give to right the wrong that he had committed David had over two billion dollars worth of material to give to the house of God but he said God will not accept my offerings and my sacrifices but you know what God wants God wants a broken and a contrite spirit God voted out of David the same thing that he requires of you and me and we've got it I don't have two billion dollars worth of material to give to the house of God but I tell you what I have got I've got a broken heart I've got a spirit that says God forgive me from a sin God I want to be and a little barefooted boy in Southeast Missouri in 1948. he repented of his sins and God baptized him with the Holy Ghost and he spoke in other tongues and it was more important than the two million dollars worth of material that David had a nest for the house of God would you give him a handiclap [Applause] God said David thank you it's all right but I'm not going to let you build me a house I'm going to let Solomon do it because Solomon prayed for God to give him wisdom above everything else he didn't ask for wealth he didn't have to ask for a victory in battle he just asked God for wisdom and God gave him wisdom and God gave him peace and God gave him the nose now one thing David did he gave the plans I was reading here and and and and David said now Solomon here's what we're supposed God won't let me do it and I won't be around to enjoy the glory I won't be around to enjoy the credit but that's all right I've got peace with God he's opened my mouth and he said he's forgiven now then you go ahead and Mill the house and and I'm going to give you all that I'll let you have all the honor you know stop and think about in just a little bit David please for cleansing renewal and restoration when he says cleanse me with his referring to the practice of cleansing of a leopard this is what he wanted cleansing but all of this was a sideline he's going to let God's going to let Solomon build the Temple uh what what about you and me how do we feel when we feel like that so and so such and such honor and credit should go to us and somebody else gets it we sometimes become Petty in our feelings and our attitude uh if if I don't get to do a certain thing that I want to do in church or what have you and I'm not harping on this because I don't think this is a a big problem with First Apostolic Church but uh I've preached in a lot of churches in the last 75 years and I saw one great church a great church one Sunday morning it split 70 some odd people left the church all over the real seat was who got to play the piano and they picked they they chose sides of who who got to got to do this and who got to do that now just think if David had had that kind of spirit that here look what I'm giving look what I've saved up and now then God's not going to let me get the credit part he's going to let my my fair-haired son Sullivan no he didn't have that attitude David pleads for cleansing and restoration and this is what we need he referred to the law of the lepers in the day of cleansing uh he shall be brought unto the priest now this is the leper and he's found out he's got leprosy David had the leprosy of sin murder adultery also David was guilty some terrible things he had the leprosy of sin on his life and then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean and Cedar Wood and Scarlet and his and the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an Earthen vessel over running water as for the living bird he shall take it the cedar wood and the scarlet and the hyssop and shall dip them in the living bird in the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over running water and he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times and shall pronounce him clean and shall let the living bird loose into the open field the two birds alive and clean cedar wood and Scarlet and his one bird dies and the other is dipped in the dead Bird's blood that has been mixed with water he is then set free to fly away David deserves this freedom of forgiveness and cleansing but burn offerings and Gifts won't do the job the only thing that God will accept unto these abhorrent circumstances is praise worship a broken and a contrite spirit well we got two birds one's alive well they're both alive but they take the one of the living birds and he kills that living bird under running water and mixes the blood of that bird that's just been killed in water and then it takes his that's a little Branch off of a fuzzy like plant and he dips at hyssa in the water and blood and water mix blood and water there are three that bear witness in Earth the spirit the water and the blood and these three are these we agree and want the water and the spirit and he he dips up hyssop in the water and blood and he sprinkles it uh on the living bird and then he turns a living bird loose and he's free he flies away somebody has died someone has given blood that this bird may live and fly away it takes this same water and blood with hyssop and there stands an old leper he's sentenced to death because it's a it's a horrible uh disease that eats away at the flesh takes away all feeling you could have your hand in boiling water and not even know it but then it takes his hyssop and he dips it in that water and blood and he sprinkles it on the man that's got leprosy and says now you're clean fly away oh no matter what sin you've got if you've got the leprosy of sin in your life you don't need a million dollars in the bank you don't need tons of gold you need the cleansing by the blood of Jesus Christ that'll set you free and you can fly away and claim your victory in the Lord Jesus Christ um Naaman was a wealthy Syrian captain he learned that there was not enough money to purchase the cleansing of the deadly disease of leprosy it took a humbling and a healing from God which was the result of a broken Spirit a stubborn self a sufficiency arrogance and egotism it had to be broken in his life well what happened there was a little Hebrew made that was uh naaman's wife's servant and one day she said I just would to God that my master knew about the prophet in Israel he could be healed of that that leprosy and when his wife told him what the little Hebrew maid said he goes to his Captain his King and says there's somebody down there in Israel that that can claim leprosy well he gave him permission and gave him a letter here's a letter to the to the king of Israel uh Naaman is a highly respected General in my Army he's a great man and gave him a great great uh send off and uh gave him a great reputation here in and he took that letter to the king of Israel and when he did the king of Israel actually fainted so oh my God he said that that the Syrian King is trying to start War he's sending a man here with the leprosy to for me to cleanse him I can't cleanse him I can't cleanse him so he's trying to start a war the word got to the little mate she said he's gone to the wrong man he wasn't supposed to go to the king he was supposed to go to the prophet the man of God it's the man of God that's that's in touch with God and so they oh Naaman he loaded down cherish with with gold and silver and goodly garments I mean he he he had him a wagon train of wealth he was going to impress the prophet and show him how much he had and he was going to buy his healing and when he pulled up in front of the preacher's house servant consider Naamans here wants to see you he's got a letter from the he said go tell Naaman that I said go jump in the right now that's not the way he said it he said tell him to go dip seven times in the river of Jordan and when they told him that the Bible said he went away in a rage he said what about all the rivers in in Syria we got great and beautiful rivers and and the the Jordan River it's a muddy Old River nobody wants to go down to the river and he just just went into a rage and his servant said master you know had he told you to do some other great thing you would have done it said why don't you give it a try and began to talk a little reason a little sense you're a leper you really don't have much of a choice you know what when you have the leprosy of sin you don't have much of a choice but just just to throw up the white flag say God I surrendered dry surrender and said why don't you try it so Naaman said I'll give it a try he went to the river of Jordan and went down Watson I could imagine this I thought I'd be getting a little bit better let me try it again too three four six just as bad as uh this is just what I thought nothing's happened here I am making a fool out of myself out here in the river of Jordan and one more time you haven't obeyed yet until you've obeyed it all and it went down the seventh time and when it came up his skin was as a baby's skin the leprosy was gone I want to tell you the world makes fun of our baptism in Jesus name the Holy Ghost let me tell you something when you go down in that water in the name of Jesus you're doing it the right way you may go down the center but you're going to come up a wash whiter than snow you're going to be clean it would be great if the story ended there but it didn't gehaza was a servant of Elijah and he said uh I think you should get something out of this and it took off after Naaman overtook his chair he said my master changed his mind said you know he likes to have this this and this oh the Naaman was so pleased just give him and he just gave him abundance I'm so much he couldn't care it he had the the Servants of Naaman had to carry the stuff and and he took it and put it away and when it came to the man of God the man of God said where have you been I hadn't been anywhere don't worry when you're when you're a sinner a lion is just one of the little things you do yeah you know Elijah said did you know my heart went with you I was with you every step of the way and now son here's what's going to happen the the the leprosy that Naaman had it's going to be yours and your house forever because this is not a day of rewards this is a day to glorify God for God's miraculous power let me tell you something you don't have enough money to buy repentance you don't have enough I I want you to know there's not a politician there's not a an investor there's no man that's got enough money to buy repentance but I don't care how poor you are I don't care how tall how short how rich when you come to God if you repent of your sins it you've got it there because he said whosoever comes to him coming to you I will and no wise cast out Peter said just repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for the promises are to you and to your children and to them that are far off even as many as the Lord our gods are called Glenn are we still here all right let's get back to the temple uh moreover there's workmen with thee in abundance hearers and workers of stone and Timber and all manner of cunning men for every manner to work now are you hear me now listen to me close he didn't say we've got a lot of real spiritual men they can speak in tongues they can interpret they can prophesy they can preach and they they have they have uh the the gift of of oratory they no moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance now these are men that knew what they were doing humors and workers of a stone Timber and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work God's got a job for you to do whatever you can do and God's given you God's given you the ability to do things and you may be a mechanic you may be a carpenter you may be a plumber you may be a a uh somebody that uh floors they don't mind what what God gives you a gift and you are doing something for God let me get on this some folks like if they're not preaching they're not doing anything for God if I'm not up there preaching and yelling and going then then that's what I want to do God may have something else for you to do and forgive me fellas for me saying this uh I've said it so many times but I'll say it one more time sometimes I I drive over here on Saturday just on purpose and and brother brother Stanley brother Jim and it was a brother Roger and they're going around here picking up trash they got they got bags and and all of it and this is quite a quite a lot it's a great big building did you know that God is watching that and did you know that God's got a reward for that that neither one of the men that never may never stand in the Pulpit but I want to tell you they're doing something important for God God May sister uh sister Betty uh um Pierce she's been our cafeteria manager for years and and she keeps the the finest cafeteria in fact when we were applying for our class four uh license with the state uh one of the politicians from Nashville came down and went through our school visited our classrooms and it went through the uh the the cafeteria and we went to Nashville when they were having a hearing about us getting our our classification being recognized by the state this man got up and spoke he said gentlemen I wish you could go with me to this school and go through the school and watch how ordinary it is what's has to offer and then said go through the cafeteria said the kitchen you could eat off of the floor that was his words you tell me that's not a blessing from God the thing that you're you teachers are teaching this school you get over here in the morning and you're teaching these little children you tell me God's Not Taken notice of that and not yet dude are you listening to what I'm talking where I'm coming from here the the the temple was built by men that had expertise in different fields the way the man that works in says uh brother uh cabins a tree they've been here for Years brother Kevin you see him going to the garbage can every little and I could say this about every one of you here of the things that you do and I want you to know god brother gentlemen see you but Truckee we got these cameras I'll turn it on then and I'll see that that beautiful red Ram truck sitting out front brother Jim's been opening the doors for years and years a year over year decades do you know what that means to me the first time I ever got a speeding ticket in Knoxville I think I've only got one best I can remember I was on my I was living in South Oxford and I was driving over to Washington Avenue to open the doors and get ready for Sunday school and I was in a hurry and I was going too fast and I got stopped by the police I I needed it I should have should have got it but now suppose every Sunday morning I had to get up and get over here I I'm studying Pastor Mark's study brother Jim's been doing this for years and it means it means so much it means so much and I want you to know I appreciate it sister Uncle read something to me this week online because you know if it comes online it's got to be true yes it said that this this florist went to the barber shop and got a haircut and and the start to pay in the barber said no I can't take your money so this is my week I'm I'm doing uh community service I can't take your money the florist thanked him I said the next morning when the barber got there said there was 12 red roses I hung on the doorknob and a thank you no and that day there was a uh another fellow came in he was a policeman and he got a haircut and started to pay in the The Barber said Kate this is my week I'm doing community service so I can't can't take your money said the next morning there was a dozen donuts at the front door and a thank you from that policeman that same day there was a preacher came in got a haircut and he started to pay and Barbara said this is my week I'm doing a community service he said I can't take your money well the preacher thanked him and the next morning when the barber got there there were 12 preachers and I ended up waiting to get a free haircut so much for the levity so so much for living I guess I could tie that in by saying whatever occupation you're in you got the opportunity to to participate let me go back to First Kings 5 and 1 and we're just about out of time and Hiram king of tire sent his servants unto Solomon for he had heard that they had anointed him King in the room of his father for Hiram was ever a lover of David now I know the Bible said Beware that of him that all men speaks well of but now we're not supposed to be spoken evil of just just because you are a Christian uh harem was ever a lover of David you and I should live a life and behave with other people to make friends if a man will have friends he must show himself friendly and and we used to say this more than we do now but I used to advertise our church was the friendliest Church in town and we need to prove that we we need to be the friend now Hiram I I I I hire him was a uh the king of China and he was an Amber lover of David and Solomon sent to Harlem saying thou knowest how that David my father could not build the house into the name of the Lord his God for the wars which were about him on every side until the Lord put them under the soul of his feet but now the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurred oh and behold I propose to build a house unto the name of the Lord my God as the Lord spake unto David my father saying thy son whom I was set up on thy throne and by room he shall build a house unto my name now therefore command thou that they Hume cedar trees out of Lebanon and my servant shall be with thy servants and unto thee will I give higher for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can a skill to you Timber lock into the sedonians and it came to pass when a harlem heard the words of Solomon that he rejoiced greatly and said blessed be the Lord this day which have given unto David a wise son even his this great people and Hiram sent to Solomon saying I've considered the things which thou send us to me for and I will do all my desire concerned Timber of Cedar and concerned Timber of fur by servants shall bring them down from Lebanon to the Sea and I will convey them by seeing in floats unto the place that thou shall appoint me I will cause them to be discharged there and thou shalt receive them and thou shall accomplish my desire in giving food for my household so Harem gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire and Solomon gave Hiram 20 000 measures of wheat for food for his household and 20 measures of pure oil thus gave Solomon to Harem year by year and the lord gave Solomon wisdom as he promised him and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon and they too made a league together would you stand to your feet with us please I didn't do much commenting on those last several verses but I don't think it requires this it's pretty evident that Solomon didn't just take these these things as a gift he returned the thing by giving Hiram something in in return and you and I need to realize that in life we're given we take we don't we don't just become a all a taker or all the giver we've got something to offer to someone else father we thank you tonight for your goodness and mercy we thank you for the Blessed word of the Lord God I pray that you will let the word sink deep in the hearts and may we rejoice as did these characters in our Bible lesson that said that they will rejoice may we Rejoice over what we're reading in the word of the Lord bring us back at our next appointed service in Jesus name we pray amen shake hands and be friendly you're dismissed In The Name Of The Lord
