Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

God Is in Trouble — Your Trouble

  • He greets the church with the name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved and opens with startling news: God is in trouble — Psalms 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble; when you have a problem, God has a problem.
  • He tells the story of Isaiah 36 and 37: the king of Assyria's spokesman blasphemed and threatened Judah, Hezekiah spread the letter before the Lord and prayed, and God defeated Assyria — the secret is, when you are in trouble, don't fight your own battles; put it in the hands of the Lord.

Scriptures: Psalm 46:1

The Priority of Obedience

  • The lesson's focus verse is Matthew 7:24 — whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock — and he pairs it with Matthew 25:24, where the one-talent man says, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, and hid his talent in the earth.
  • From a book's story of Michelangelo's teacher smashing work that was beneath his ability, he takes the sentence: talent is cheap, dedication is costly — it is not just our ability that counts, but our availability and obedience; God gives talents according to our abilities and only expects our reasonable service.
  • He tells how in 1948 the McCool twins started out evangelizing at eleven years old, hitchhiking on Highway 84 in Missouri: their sharecropper father, hurt in a tractor accident, went with them after all; in a revival at Dexter their father received the Holy Ghost; and one elderly lady's single dollar started an automobile fund that sent them home in a brand new 1948 Dodge — one small obedient act can start something.

Scriptures: Matthew 7:24; Matthew 25:24-25

Not Everyone That Saith Lord, Lord

  • He walks Matthew 7: not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father; many will say in that day, have we not prophesied in thy name and cast out devils and done many wonderful works, and the answer comes, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
  • He returns to the wise builder with the full storm: the rains descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock; it is not enough to hear the sayings — we have to do them.
  • Answering what must we do, he gives Peter's words with the promise: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the promise is unto you and your children and all that are afar off — and he urges the church not to forsake the assembling together, for we find the rock by digging in the house of God.

Scriptures: Matthew 7:21; Matthew 7:22; Matthew 7:23; Matthew 7:24-25; Acts 2:38-39

Searching for the Rock

  • The foolish man heard the sayings and did them not, and built on the sand; and the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it — everything we need is in this book, and whatever our problem, we can find the place where it is written.
  • He presses the study of the word with Paul's charge: study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth; this midweek gathering, he says, is not a pastime — we are here hunting the rock.

Scriptures: Matthew 7:26-27; 2 Timothy 2:15

According to Their Several Ability

  • He walks the parable of the talents in Matthew 25: the man traveling into a far country delivered his goods to his servants — five talents, two, and one, to every man according to his several ability — and the five-talent man traded and gained five more, and the two-talent man likewise gained two, while the one dug in the earth and hid his lord's money.
  • At the reckoning the lord says to the five-talent man, well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things — and the same blessing is spoken over the two-talent man, for the reward is measured by faithfulness at our own ability, not by comparison with another's.
  • The one-talent man blames the master — Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man — and hears, thou wicked and slothful servant; the talent is taken and given to him that hath ten, and the unprofitable servant is cast into outer darkness; we must avoid blaming God for our own inactivity.

Scriptures: Matthew 25:14-19; Matthew 25:20-22; Matthew 25:23-30

Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice

  • From Matthew 21 he reads the two sons: the one who said I will not, but afterward repented and went, did the will of his father — not the one who said I go, sir, and went not; what matters is doing, and many who think they will not serve God find themselves repenting and going.
  • He tells of Saul sparing Agag and the best of the spoil for sacrifice, and Samuel's answer that obedience is better than sacrifice and rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft — and of the family where mother and sister each shortened the same trousers two inches, a lot of operating but not cooperating.
  • He closes on exact obedience: Peter said repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the church is not here to suit the world or both sides, but to obey what he said — whatever our ability, God gave it to us, and we are to use it as he directs, no more and no less.

we greet you tonight in the wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ The Only Name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved I have some startling news tonight God is in trouble Psalms 46 and 1 God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble yes God is in trouble your trouble when you have a problem God has a problem I'm thrilled to the story found in Isaiah 36 and 37 it seems that the warmongering Assyrians had conquered every city that war might that in the country that they had set out to conquer so successful was there war effort that the king of Assyria said his henchmen rabishek to war against Judah with his advice bewareless Hezekiah persuade you saying the Lord will Deliver Us have any of the Gods of the Nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Syria drunk on the wine of success rabishek stood arrogant and angrily spewed out the venomous words of his King saying thus saith the king of Assyria let not Hezekiah deceive you for he shall not be able to deliver you neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord the Jews hearing these words rent their clothes and went before their King Hezekiah who in turn went before his prophet Isaiah who in turn went before his God the Devil is a big blustering bully and delights and pushing God's children around his intimidations however backfires in his fiendish face his threats frightened the Sheep into the arms of the shepherd the king of Assyria trying to add insult to injury sent a personal letter to Hezekiah king of Judah reminding him of all the kingdoms which had fallen before him he carefully pointed out that even the god of Judah could not deliver them from his hands his blasphemy against God and his people was his fatal mistake Hezekiah took the letter and spread it out before the Lord and prayed saying incline thine ear O Lord and hear the words which has been sent to reproach the Living God here is the secret when you are in trouble don't try to fight your own battles put it in the hands of the Lord and let God do for you what he did for Judah Syria Was Defeated and their King also was killed yes God is in trouble in your trouble and in my trouble and he said if God before you who can be against you aren't you glad you know this great God tonight praise the Lord praise the Lord I don't know if the request was given tonight or not sister Jeanette Lynn had a fall and she needs our prayers tonight and of course Pastor McCool's uh under the weather tonight and I insisted that he stay home he sounded terrible with a cold and we'll be praying for him and uh and also we want to pray for all of our sick folks and their their names have been put up on the screen brother Livingston and all those that that need prayer we're praying for all of them tonight well our our lesson tonight is entitled the priority of obedience the priority of him of obedience there's something very important about obeying obeying and our focused verse is found in Matthew 7 24. let's pray father we thank you for this privilege of being in the house of God we're thankful for the great word of the Lord that we've heard from this Pulpit from time to time God you know all those that have requested our prayer we continue to pray for each one until they are completely healed and delivered we thank you for answering prayer I pray that you'll anoint the lips of claim with the spirit of God give what you will have for this service tonight in Jesus name we pray amen NADA mentioned the great preaching we heard over the weekend wasn't it fantastic praise God we are so blessed with great preaching here at First Apostolic Church I'm amazed every time uh when one of these brothers comes to this pulpit and and I heard preaching a long time I've heard a lot of preachers and I I don't I don't belittle any of them but I want you to know I've never heard better preaching than we hear right here from this pulpit and I thank God for it so very very much Matthew 7 24 therefore whosoever Hearth these sayings of mine and do with them I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock then he which had received now in verse 24 that he would received the one Talent came and said Lord I knew thee that thou art a hard man reaping with us of soul and Gathering where thou Hast not strong now that's in Matthew 25 24 the first verse was in Matthew 7 24 and Matthew 25 24 says that he which had received the one Talent came and said Lord I knew thee thou art a hard man reaping where thou shalt sowing Gathering where thou is not strong and I was afraid and went and hid my tell my talent in the earth low there thou Hast that is thine and his book a call to Excellence Gary Ingrid tells a story now Michelangelo is reputed to be the greatest sculptor that the Earth has ever known but he was about 14 years old when he started his formal studies under a teacher and his teacher one day came into his Studio and I found Michelangelo working with a project beneath his abilities his teacher grabbed a hammer stomped across the room and smashed the work into tiny pieces shouting his Unforgettable message quote Michelangelo Talent is cheap dedication is costly Talent is cheap dedication is costly it's not just our ability that counts but our availability and obedience we're going to be studying something tonight that's very important what you have to offer God is what God has given you now we'll find in the stories that we'll be reading that God chose men and gave them talents according to their abilities and God knows each one of us and he knows the abilities that we have and he only expects our reasonable service and God gives you enough to do something for him it may not be the greatest thing in the world but if you are a one talented person For Heaven's Sake don't bury it use that one talent that you have for the Lord I remember in 1948 the McCool twins started out evangelizing hitchhiking on 84 Highway between hatai and Kenneth Missouri and my dad he was a farmer it was a sharecropper if you don't know what a sharecropper is it's a it's a it's a man it's a person that don't have enough money to buy cultivators horses or teams or tractors don't have money to rent land and he's somewhat of a indentured servant really and the man that owns the land or rents the land furnishes all the equipment the seeds and so forth and the sharecropper plants cultivates and rapes the Harvest and is divided up by share the man that owns the land gets 60 percent and the sheriff corporate gets 40 percent that's after everything is taken out and sometimes there's not very much left and my father had been hurt in a tractor accident I've been preaching a short while and Bobby just started preaching and uh my dad wouldn't go with us to preach and we we were just 11 years old and and we were Brazen enough to ask our daddy to go with us the whole revivals and he didn't even have the Holy Ghost in fact I'm not sure he had quit smoking yet and because he later tells about going to the Altar and seeking for the Holy Ghost and throwing the package of cigarettes out the window back then we didn't have air conditioning so they had the Winter's raised and dad would go to the altar to pray for the Holy Ghost he said it he couldn't get through to God because he was worried about it raining on his cigarettes outside because after the church he'd go back out and start feeding around until I found that pack of cigarettes well he wasn't really settled and and sincere with God to get the Holy Ghost but after this tractor accident my father told God if he would provide a way he would go with his twin boys to preach well I said God he said God spoke to him or he felt it that God was said you don't see the highway crowded with preachers hitchhiking do you and Dad accepted the challenge and we stood out there on 84 Highway between Hayti and Kenneth and Ghana arrived and picked at a back end of a cattle truck wound up and and uh Dexter Missouri at my grandmother's house and uh you heard me tell the story many times we hadn't been there for just a little while till the local Pastor brother Gunn who was a pastor of the local Pentecostal church and he asked my grandmother Miss Craig do I hear your your grandsons are preaching would you know how I could get in touch with him I'd like to have them to hold me a Revival she said yes brother Gunther sitting right here in my living room right now and he didn't know we were going to be there and we didn't know he was going to be there but we started a Revival in in Dexter Missouri and in that Revival my father received the baptism of the Holy Ghost I didn't have a whole lot of wisdom back then but I went down the aisle and my dad was sitting there and I said Dad if you don't quit them cigarettes and get the Holy Ghost you're gonna die and go to hell well I I'm not quite that abrasive any anymore but it must have worked for him because he got the Holy Ghost in that Revival well from there we got enough money to buy a bus ticket to Harrisburg Illinois and we uh brother Durfee was his name and willed Revival for brother Durfee and Harrisburg Illinois and one Sunday morning during that Revival there was a an elderly lady got up in the back of the church and she came down the aisle and she had a one dollar bill and she said brother derpa can I say something she said the Lord is laid on my heart to start an automobile fund for these boys they needed transportation and I'm going to start the first dollar well money started coming in now this was back in 1948 a dollar was more like a dollar back then but it took a lot of them to buy a new car but when we left Southern Illinois came back to Dexter Missouri we were driving a brand new 1948 Dodge Automobile because go ahead and give the Lord a hand clap that that dear little lady didn't know what she was going to do when she brought that one dollar bill down that aisle it started that fun and and we went home got I got mother and Spencer and Lanny and Garrett and we started out evangelizing and uh would what a few clothes we had we put them in the trunk of that Dodge and when it wouldn't hold everything dad built a rack to put on top of the the 48 Dodge and put a turtle pole in over that and and we and I somebody got offended one time because I said we look like gypsies well there's nothing wrong with being I understand the gypsies is a is a group of people by name and I don't mean to to throw off on anybody because you don't get any lower than the McCool family was at that time but we started out traveling and and that's been that's been 75 years ago and I want you to know that one dollar bill started something I want to tell you something you may have one Talent you may have let me tell you something your testimony is going to be a witness to somebody I remember back several years ago uh sister brother and sister Mason uh met a man and woman a little girl in Walmart and that little girl didn't know who they were but she stopped them and invited them to come to First Apostolic Church does anybody remember that and they started coming to our church because of that little girl and they stayed in this church in Kimberly the Mason passed away sister Carolyn still comes to church she's married her brother uh David uh um who yes but I get excited talking up here sometime and and forget forget my own name brother Latham but anyway what I'm telling you is if you've got one to whatever it is God don't make any mistakes and if you'll just do what God called you to do he will reward it he will bless it now let's get into this lesson in Matthew 7 21 not everyone that saith unto me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven talk is cheap talk is sheep but obedience sometimes is expensive and and God only wants our obedience and sometimes we do more or less than what God is asking us to do not everyone that saith unto me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven I couldn't help but think last night we went up to Kingsport for the funeral the the celebration homegoing of Brother David Peters and it was in in 1952 was of a conference in Dayton Ohio and actually the the the the church where sister Jamie McCool her family came out of and and but they had a conference there and I met brother g.d Peters and he asked Bob and myself we'd just started traveling by herself in 1952 and asked us to come to to his church for a Revival and we went to Revival and then met brother g.d Peters and he became one of the dearest friends I've ever had and but and I I just thought I told says just suppose I had never gone to Kingsport Tennessee I would have never met sister McCool what a difference it would have made in my life but God knows what he's doing God knows I want to tell you something you just trusted the Lord God's in trouble in your trouble and in my trouble and in our plans we don't know what God is doing and we just need to say God I'm going to follow you and Jesus said it's not everyone that said the Lord Lord but it's he that doeth the will of my father what he wants you to do is the will of God in your life whatever it may not be huge but the song says little as much if God is in it and I'm going to tell you that's exactly right not everyone that saith unto me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven there's a lot of folks that talk to a lot of talk but he said it's not everyone that says Lord Lord but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven what you and I are concerned about tonight is doing the will of God in our life it's not that I may want to do some stupendous thing some great things but God may have me to do something that looks very small but God can take something very small and and I don't know uh who who did the survey but several years ago I read that they'd done a survey what causes churches to grow and one of the things was that a nice building a nice facility and another one was uh having a good preacher good pastor but the number one thing that caused the church to grow were thus people in that church that loved it and invited other people to come to church with them that was a tough thing that caused a church to grow is the saints of God that reaches out to lost and dying people that need God verse 22 many will say unto men that day Lord Lord have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works now they're going to say they did this now the Bible does not confirm that they had done it but he said many will come that day and will say we're prophesied in your name we cast out devils in your name and we did many wonderful works then will I profess unto them I never knew you I never knew you'd depart from me ye that work iniquity God knows the real from the unreal and he knows the Widow that came down the aisle and put two mites in the offering he turned Through the Bible said Jesus sent himself by the treasury purposely to see what was going on and he told his disciples that that lady that Widow has given more than everybody else because they gave of their abundance and she gave of her living you see God knows what you're doing for him that's just one illustration and you don't have to do what somebody else does you simply do what God allows you to do therefore whosoever Hearth these sayings of mine and do with them I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock and the rains descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house and it fell not for it was founded upon a rock Jesus is giving a parable of a man he said whosoever Hearth the sayings of mine and doeth them it's not enough to hear it but we've got to do something when we hear it and one of the most heartbreaking things to me in my Ministry is to see people that hear the word of God understand but because of of the social pressures around them they cannot give up that life and consecrate themselves to God but Jesus said whosoever heareth these things of mine and doeth them I'll lock it him to a man that built a house he was wise and he built this house up on a rock and the rains descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat up on that house and it fell not for it was found to put a rock one of the beautiful things about the teachings of Jesus do you notice that the Simplicity this is a little story it oh I wish I had the video of of Eleanor teaching the the lesson that she taught she got taught last Sunday in in her class it it is so beautiful the way she tells it and and it was it was a simple story but that's the way Jesus taught he didn't get so deep that folks couldn't understand he put all the bread on the lower Shelf so that the little folks could reach it and the tall and the big folks could stoop down and get it whosoever Hearth these sayings of mine and now his his segment all that complicated to the average but now to the Pharisees and the Sadducees and Republicans and some of them Nicodemus came to Jesus by night and so I I want to I know you're a great great prophet Jesus said you must be born again whoa he said how can a man be born on his own can he enter the second time into his mother's womb and be born and Jesus said except a man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God now that's pretty straight but it's pretty plain being born of water and the spirit there's three that bear witness and Earth a spirit the water and blood and these three agree in one the Bible said repentance Peter said well they said what must we do what shall we do Peter said repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and you shall received the Holy Ghost for the promise is unto you and your children and all that are far off even as many as the Lord our gods are called all right now let us go on uh the range of sin the floods came winds blew and beat upon the house and it fell not for it was found upon a rock how do I say this without sound like I'm uh I've got a selfish motive it's more to live for God to come down and repent and get baptized and even get the Holy Ghost the Bible said forsake not the assembling of yourselves together the matter and as the matter is as you see the day approaching for Satan not did you know that if you're really going to get found up on the rock you need to attend the house of God for Bible study for youth rallies for youth service for adultery service or whatever it is it's it's something there that you're going to need because what you're doing you're digging looking for The Rock looking for The Rock that little old girl she she told that story about that storm of a bad storm coming and how Jesus spoke the word and the and the wind ceased and and oh how sweet how sweet it was well if we could just understand that that Jesus needs to be in our boat and he can speak peace be still when the storm is Raging now that was a simple little story that Jesus told but now that he goes on to say everyone that hears the sayings of mine and doeth them not shall be likened to a foolish man it's foolish to hear the words of Jesus and then not do anything about it and I I want to be very careful of what I'm about to say because we always must have Jesus had time for Nicodemus and he had he had time for every one of the little children when the disciples tried to get Jesus to rebuke the mothers to get the children away and Jesus rebuked them and said the the forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven and he refused to send the little children away so Jesus has a time and attention for for everyone now then he said but he hears the sins of mine and doeth them not it's likely to a foolish man which built his house upon the sand I've talked with a lot of people and and the heartbreaking thing is is when you take the time to explain the word of God and you see that it's registering with him and I'm taking time to to counsel and deal with folks and said what you really need to do maybe it's marital problems maybe it's a juvenile problems or it might even be any financial problems or whatever and you'll tell them what the Bible tells and so what you need to do you need to get in church and dedicate your life to the Lord he's got a pattern for your life he said bring you all the tithe into the storehouse and prove here we're simple Lord if I'll not opening the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there's not room enough to receive you see it's not altogether what you get it's what God allows you to keep but some folks don't know that and the Bible speaks of folks that put their money in bags with holes in them it gets away and you don't know where it goes and and then you say now what you need to do you need to be in church next week well now let's see I believe I'm I believe I've got something planned I can't be there something's I and they start making excuses about not being in the house of God uh best food reason that's unwise you need to get in the house of God and not just one time but you're digging you're you're looking for the rock you don't just come one time and go you just keep up the Paul says search the scriptures study to show yourself approved a wordman under God that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth and the Bible said the search of scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and these are they that testify of me so what we're for tonight this is not a midweek Pastime this is another midweek where we'll go to prayer meeting them no we're here because we're we're hunting The Rock we want we want to be on a solid foundation and I'm going to tell you something I have never in my 75 years of ministering I've never seen so much Falling Away the Bible says it's going to shake everything that can be shaken that that which cannot be shaken May remain I see folks that you never thought would make a turn to the world that could turn to leave God out he said he that heareth the Sands of mine and don't do it he said he's like a foolish man and it said he built his house upon the sand and the rain descended the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house and it fell and great was the fall of it I want to tell you something everything you and I need it's in this book it's in this book I've said it so many times when Jesus entered Nazareth his hometown would have been brought up to enter the synagogue and they delivered to him the scroll the book and the Bible said he found the place where it was written and let me tell you something whatever is your problem Jesus found the place where it's written you can find it in this book it's the greatest marriage manual it's the greatest uh job description it's the greatest book you'll ever hold in your hand and we need to study it but this foolish man heard the words of Jesus and just let it pass over and it's he likened him to a man that will build a house and not put it on the foundation not pour concrete or not find the Rock and then when the same storm same wind beat upon that house of the Bible said it fell and great was the fall of it well that's why we're here tonight we want our our experience with God to last and hold and keep us secure Matthew 25 14 for the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man traveling into a far country and who called his own service and delivered unto them his Goods now he tells another little story his stories are so simple his stories are so plain you don't have to try to analyze and and make a a lot of uh depth to it it's just simple where you can understand it the kingdom is like a man that's going to take a journey it's going to be gone for a while and it caused three servants in and he's gonna leave them money talent that was money in those days the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man traveling into a poor country who called his own service and delivered them his Goods and the one he gave five talents and another two and another one to every man according to his several ability and straightway took his journey notice this one clause in there this one phrase according to their several abilities I I remember um I believe it's Bishop um oh maybe I'm not sure I'll give credit to anybody because he said that God gives Grace according to the gift he's given you and be careful that you don't ask for a gift that you don't have Grace to handle it was and and he had a scripture they applied to that that that we need to make sure that we have the grace to handle the gift and then whatever gift God gives us we need to use it to its fullest extent to one I said according to the several abilities and and then he immediately took his journey then he better received the five talents with and traded with the same and made them other five talents now right off I I get a I get an idea here the man that had uh he gave five talents he he went and he gained five talents evidently well not evidently factually the master knows what ability we have by the service we performed the same traded and made other five talents this man had ability and he used it until it's fullest extent and he gained five talents and likewise he that received two he also gained other two but he that received one went and digged in the earth and hid his Lord's money after a long time the Lord of those servants cometh and reckoneth with them now all the stories in the Bible the in fact I've seen the 25th chapter of Matthew tells about the five wise virgins of the five foolish the five was the Bible said that took oil in their vessels with their lamps they not only had an oil in their lamp they had a vessel with oil to replenish the supply but the foolish they took their lamps but they didn't take extra oil and at midnight the cry went out behold the bridegroom cometh go ye out to meet him and all ten virgins arose and trimmed their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom but the foolish realized that their lamps was going out they didn't have enough oil and so they went to the the wise and said give us of your oil for our lamps have gone out and they said not so lest there be not enough for us and you would go where this help and buy for yourself and so they went and when they returned the bride and grooming come and the door was shut and they were shut out again what do we learn from that we learned that we don't stop seeking God we don't stop studying the word we we keep our vessel full and folks that get get make a a profession and they get converted and they go through this motion that's all great and good but some folks stop right there and we just don't do that I'm here for Bible study I'm here for camp meeting I'm here for Evangelistic service I'm here Sunday morning I'm here so I want to hear what the word of God has for me and in all conditions well let's go on and so he that received and long time and the Service Company reckoned with them and so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents saying Lord thou Deliver Us unto me five talents behold I have gained beside them five talents more and his lord said unto him well done thou good and faithful servant thou has been Faithful over a few things I will make the ruler over many things enter thou in to the joys of thy Lord verse 22 he also that had received two talents came and said Lord thou delivers unto me two talents behold I've gained two more talents besides them now notice they were presenting a yield according to their several abilities the master said to the man that had two talents and gained to he said well done you've been Faithful over a few things I'll make you he said the same blessing over the man that had two talents as a man that had five tablets and gained five and and this is not a complicated story it tells me that I may not have as much ability as someone else but if I do all I am capable of doing God is going to give me equal reward what about the story that he told about the the the the men that had a Vineyard and he said some men out to work in that Vineyard and they wonder how much they're going to get paid he said you're going to be paid a penny and way on up near the 11th Hour there were other standing Idol and he said why stand you hear idle all the door all the day they said nobody's hired us he said going up what's right I'll pay you and so they were only there a short while but at the end of the day he gave each one of them the same pain and those that came in the early part of the day they were disgruntled and said wait a minute we've been here working all day these fellas just come in at the 11th hour he said is it not right that I do with my own what I want he said are you evil because I'm doing this let me say something I don't regret anybody getting a blessing from God whatever um which one of our preachers preached about this was I believe it's Pastor Anthony David said my feet had well and I slipped when I looked around and I saw the prosperity of the wicked when I saw how they were blessed and what I'm going through and then he said until I went to the house of the Lord and then he got a new lease on life and he realized that God had a reward for him so and it's so simple what I'm teaching tonight is it's just so simple I'm not trying to dig out any any great prophetic teachings and revelation of Daniel but I'm saying that just the Simplicity of the word of God the man that got five talents gained five the man that got two talents gained two now we got one fellow left [Music] his lord said to him well done good and faithful servant thou has been Faithful over a few things I'll make you rule over many things enter down to the Church of the Lord then he went then had then he which had received one Talent came and said Lord I knew thee that thou art a hard man reaping where thou shall not soul and Gathering where thou is not strong you know we need to avoid this blaming God for our inactivity or our lack of production it's not God's fault because he's going to give us everything that we need and I was afraid that when it hid my talent and the Earth low there there's that is thine his Lord answered and said to him thou Wicked and Soulful servant put my money in the exchangers and then at my coming I should have received my own with usury take therefore the talent from him and give it to him the last 10 talents for everyone that has somewhere has been given and he that has a and that day I have abundance but for him that hath not shall be taken away even that's what you have and cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer Darkness there's somebody weeping and gnashing of teeth now let me go to it to uh well let me go to Matthew 21 and 28. but what thank you a certain man had two sons and he came to the first and said Son go work today at my Vineyard and the answer and said I will not but afterwards he repented and went and he came to the second and said likewise and the answer said I go sir and he went nut whether them Twain did the will of his father they send him the first Jesus said unto them verily I say unto you that the publicans are the hardest go into the kingdom of God before you one son he said yes sir I'll go work but he didn't the other person said no I'm not going but he went um most of us most of us are guilty telling friends now what if you need me you call me anytime that uh anything but usually when there's when you need when you're needed we the guy we need to say it if it's where I can if I if if it's if I'm not tied up with something else I will but but to say anytime any day and night so forth well once that I'll go and didn't once that I want but it did he said which one's the greatest he said the one that did what he said he wouldn't do well I want to say there's a lot of things you and I might think we're not going to do for God but when you get down to it you repent and you go and do it I've got one more story I want to give to you tonight King Saul missed out on God's blessings Samuel the man of God told him to go and and God told him through the prophet said you kill uh the amalekites the amalekites are a cruel wicked men that had murdered God's people and God said I'm going to give them to you I want you to destroy all the amalekites I want your straw but I don't want anything they've got I want a big little old and young want them destroyed all the cattle everything well at the close of the day uh Saul comes to me Samuel and he said blessed be thou the Lord for I have performed the Commandments of the Lord Samuel said if you've command if you have performed the Commandments of the Lord what meaneth in the blading of the Sheep and the lowering of the auction that I hear oh he said uh what he said the the people decided that what we needed to do is to keep the best cattle and sheep for sacrifice to the Lord well so what have you done about agag the king well we've spared him and God spoke to the prophet and said because you have not obeyed I'm going to reject you as being King and then these great words were uttered he said Saul don't you know that obedience is better than sacrifice and not to obey Rebellion is this is as the sin of witchcraft God wants our obedience and because he did not slay the king Samuel saw what he was slain because this is what God Said was to take place I heard a little story and uh of course pastor Mark Clark says don't tell folks you've told us and then just tell it but I noticed he does the same thing sometimes too but uh The Story Goes that this young man bought him a pair of pants that were not altered they were two inches too long and you know her pants are they have to be altered to fit the person and he brought the pants home and and ask his mother said Mom would you cut these pants off two inches and put a cup on them that'll just fit she said son I I would but I am so busy I got so much to do I I don't have time so we asked his sister and sister said brother I would love to but I am too busy I can't do it right now maybe sometime later we will and so we just hung him up and left after he left his mama got to thinking you know I'm not all that busy that's not much to ask I'll go fix those pants for him so she went and cut them off two inches and put a cup on them put them back the sister got to thinking you know he's a good brother so that's very little for him to ask and you know you got it you're ahead on me she went and cut them off two inches put a cup on them now there was a lot of operating but there was not any cooperating if they'd just done what they were asked to do sometimes we we may try to do more God don't want you to do more than he ask he told he told Saul what he wanted but Saul had another idea and he allowed the people to persuade him to keep the good the best cattle and the best sheep and he said this is going to be for a sacrifice for the Lord but the man of God said This is What God Says obedience is better than sacrifice now Peter said to repent to be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin I've heard you recently that some has started baptizing saying I baptize you in the name of the Father the Son the Holy Ghost which is Jesus that's not what he said to do the best what you're they're trying to do is just trying to to suit both sides we're not here trying to suit the world we're here trying to obey what he said obedience is better than sacrifice would you stand your feet with me please father we thank you tonight for the privilege of studying the word of God we thank you for the Lord that you're a great God that reward your rewarder of them but diligently seek you I pray o God that you'll bless your people with a love for the word of God as we study it and apply it to our hearts and may we do what you say and God may we have confidence to know that whatever our ability is you gave it to us and we want to use it as you see spit for us to use it no more or no less I pray Lord you will dismiss us from this place but not from your presence in Jesus name we pray amen shake hands and be friendly you're dismissed in Jesus name
