Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The Power of a Testimony and a Mother Arising
- There is something about the confession of your mouth: when you speak out what you know is true, the Holy Ghost settles on it in agreement.
- We are overcomers by the word of our testimony, and hell hates to hear who our God is.
- Her text: the inhabitants of the villages ceased in Israel, until Deborah arose, a mother in Israel.
- Her question to the mothers of the church is simple: will the mothers rise up? The enemy has used insecurity and past blows to stifle the authority God gave mothers to raise the next generation.
Scriptures: Revelation 12; Judges 5:7
How a Generation Was Lost
- Deborah's chapter is a song of victory, the way Moses wrote the song of victory after the defeat of Egypt at the Red Sea.
- After the victories in the days of Joshua, something changed in Judges: tribe after tribe did not drive out the inhabitants of the land.
- Benjamin, Manasseh, Ephraim, Zebulun, Asher, and Naptali chose to coexist with the nations God had told them to drive out.
- God warned that he would not drive them out before Israel, and that they would become thorns in their sides and their gods a snare.
- In a single generation Israel went from knowing God to a generation that knew not the Lord nor the works he had done; what parents let coexist in the home will reach their children.
Scriptures: Exodus 15; Judges 1; Judges 1:21-33; Judges 2:1-3; Judges 2:10-11
The Whole Armor of God
- Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the tactics of the enemy and withstand in the evil day.
- The armor is not only so the mother will not fall, but so she can guard her home and her family.
- She tells how she kept access to her daughter's phone and computer while paying for them, refusing to let the enemy come in a back door.
- Do not let the devil babysit your children and then blame the church when they do not love God; mothers are on the front line of the battle.
Scriptures: Ephesians 6:11; Ephesians 6:13
Deborah, a Mother in Israel
- Deborah was a prophetess and a judge, one of only two judges given both callings, and she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah while the children of Israel came to her for judgment.
- Israel had been oppressed for twenty years by a king whose captain had nine hundred chariots of iron, and the people cried unto the Lord.
- Deborah sent for the captain of Israel's army and reminded him of the Lord's command to draw ten thousand men toward the river, with the promise of deliverance.
- The captain would not go unless Deborah went with him; she went, but the honor of the victory would not be his, it would go to a woman.
- Unlike the judges before her, Deborah did not rise as a military general; she rose in the middle of the toughest oppression Israel had seen, with the word of God as her weapon.
Scriptures: Judges 4; Judges 4:4-5; Judges 4:3; Judges 4:4-5; Judges 4:6-7; Judges 4:8
Awake, Awake, Deborah
- In the days of Shamgar the highways were unoccupied and travelers walked through byways, and village life ceased until Deborah arose.
- Deborah sang over herself, awake, awake, utter a song: mothers must wake up, stand up, speak up, and pray up in the authority God is releasing.
- The song ends with the enemy captain's mother waiting at the window for a son who would never come home; be a Deborah instead.
- Build memorials your children can ask about: faithfulness to the house of God, prayer they can hear and imitate, and giving they can see.
- She closes by calling families to the altar, asking husbands to release their wives in spiritual authority, and praying deliverance and healing over the mothers.

There is something about the confession of your mouth. We spend a lot of time as apostolics and rightfully so with tongues and the Holy Ghost. But sometimes just simply confessing, I still believe who you are. I still believe your word. I still know you.
I still trust you. Sometimes you just need to let those words come out of your mouth. There is a power and an agreement that the Holy Ghost will settle upon you. When you begin to speak out what you know is true, you are an overcomer. Revelations 12 says, "By the word of your testimony." Does anybody have a testimony who your God is?
Does anybody have a testimony of one thing he's done for you or two things he's done for you? Is he still God of your life, the Lord of your life, your redeemer, your savior, your healer? Hallelujah. Sometimes I just say that stuff to make the devil mad. Because the devil gets enough glory every day and our God's name gets enough abuse every day that sometimes I like to just say it out loud.
You're still my God. You're still the creator of all of this. You're still my redeemer. And hell doesn't like to hear that testimony because that's how hell was defeated because of who he was. Sometimes just opening our mouth and saying it, there's something that happens with that.
Well, it is my honor and privilege to be with you all. I give honor to your pastor and his wife wherever they are in the world. Hallelujah. But it's wonderful to be with you. I don't often leave the Turning Point Church.
That's my church on Mother's Day. But this is my first year as a grandmother. So I'm sacrificing a lot because I take care of Piper during church. Um but my daughter's first year as a mother. And so I asked her to speak in my place.
So I'm going to listen to my daughter's sermon on the way home. But I felt it would be a good year to honor her. She said, "Mom, I'm kind of glad you're going to be gone. I think I would be nervous. She will do wonderful.
But it is an honor. I give honor to all of the mothers in this room and I give honor to my mother who passed away when I was 30 years old. I've been without her many years now. But um she placed all the things that matter to me in my life. And that was the love of God, the love of the word of God.
Amen. And I want to get right into the word of God. If you'll just stand all over the building in honor to the word of God and the power that it has. Just a simple scripture I want to give you this morning out of Judges chapter 5 and verse 7. Judges chapter 5 and verse 7.
The word of God says, "The inhabitants of the villages ceased. They ceased in Israel until that I Deborah arose that I arose a mother in Israel." A mother in Israel. And I just want to preach to you this simple question. Will the mothers rise up? Will the mothers rise up?
I want to tell you something. I think we are allowing the enemy through insecurity, through issues that he's given us and blows he's dealt with us in the past, especially the women of this church of of the church across the world. We have allowed him to stifle our voices and stifle the authority that God has given us to raise up the next generation to know him in the fullness of truth to love him with all of their hearts. And listen, ladies, if you're not aware of this, you are on the very front line of battle when you choose to be a mother. You are on the very front line of battle.
And the enemy wants nothing more than to destroy the innocency of your children. And the Lord is saying, when will the mothers rise up? Lord Jesus, I thank you for your word and what you want to do in this house today. I give honor to you, God, for your word and the power that it has and a word that still speaks. God, even though this was written thousands of years ago, it still speaks into this generation.
God, I want someone's heart to hear it. Lord, let the authority that you have released from heaven upon the women of this day be released upon the women of this church, God, to become mothers, grandmothers, overseers, God, to stand in the middle of battle, to stand between the enemy and his tactics and to see our raise the next generation that will know you and that will live in the knowledge of you and grow in the knowledge of you. We give you the glory. We give you the honor. Can you just clap your hands and give the Lord a little praise for just a moment?
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. You may be seated. When we read this verse of scripture in Judges chapter five, you need to understand that this chapter in the Bible is actually a song. In the days of Israel, they would often go through very difficult times.
They would go through a miraculous time and they would come out and someone would write a song of victory. Exodus 15, Moses wrote the song of victory when it when Egypt was died and their enemies were killed in the Red Sea. And then there was a song written later on by uh in the d times of David over victory. But now we come to the time of Deborah and this is the time of the judges. And they're going to write a song in Judges 5.
And it's going to be co-written by Deborah and a her partner named Bareric who was the captain of Israel during that time. And this song was to celebrate a great victory that had taken place over the Canaanites. But to really understand why they needed a victory over the enemy, you have to go back just a little bit into the years following Joshua's death. And I love the book of Joshua. If you read the book of Joshua, it is victory after victory after victory.
But something comes to a screeching halt in the book of Judges. Something changes within the children of Israel. And I believe we find it in Judges chapter 1. And I'm going to read through these very quickly, beginning at verse 21. The children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites.
Verses 27, neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethanne. Verse 28, it came to pass when Israel was strong, they put the Canaanites to tribute, but they did not utterly drive them out. Verse 29, Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites. Verse 30, Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron. Verse 31, Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of all of those cities.
Verse 32, the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, for they did not drive them out. Verse 33, Naptali did not drive out the inhabitants of Besmesh. Can I just tell you that story after story of Judges 1 is someone in Israel thinking that they could allow themselves to coexist with the sinful natures of that world. Somewhere they said, "Well, you know, it's going to be okay. We can kind of fellowship with them.
We can kind of walk with them. We can kind of listen to them. We can kind of be around them. We're stronger than that." But they were not stronger than that. God had originally told them, "Drive these nations out.
I've given you this land. I've given you this promise. I've given this to you." And and Judges chapter 2:es 1 through three, God is pretty upset with the Israelites of allowing this to happen and not completing the work that he he basically gives them a curse that's going to come upon them. And an angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Boim and said,"I made you to go up out of Egypt and have brought you into the land which I swore unto your fathers. And I said, I will never break my covenant with you." That's the faithfulness of your God.
I'm not going to break covenant with you, but watch this. I also told you, you shall make no league with the inhabitants of the land. You got to throw down their altars. You got to obey my voice. But you have not.
Why have you not done this? Wherefore I also said, I will drive them out BEFORE YOU. BUT BECAUSE you did this, he said, I will not. Previously, he said, I will. But now, he says, because you have NOT OBEYED TO DRIVE THEM, I'm not going to even allow them to be driven out.
But here's what's going to happen. They're going to be thorns in your side, and their gods are going to be snares unto you. Hear me, Mom and Dad. If you think that you can allow your church, your kids to love the world as much as they love God, that's not going to happen. Somewhere you're going to establish in them what they need to love the most.
You're going to teach them what they should hold to the most. You're going to say, "Look, I know we live in this land, BUT WE'RE NOT A PART OF THIS CULTURE. WE'RE NOT A PART OF THIS IDEOLOGY. WE DON'T BELIEVE like that. We don't act like that.
We don't talk like that. We don't WALK LIKE THAT. WE HAVE chosen to be separated from this. You never ever ever want the things of this world to become thorns and snares to your children. The enemy does.
He sets that. He baits that trap for them over and over and over again. And let me just tell you, I this day makes me very nervous to have a grandchild to be perfectly honest because at the tip of their fingertips is the access to so much worldly ideology and worldly thinking and worldly thought process. I've watched it. I I've watched these kids get married and we make them do symb.
I don't know if you guys know what that is, but it's a a thing where they have to go through it and then my the we they meet with our counselor in our church and then they meet with my husband and I and I'm just going to be honest. I sit and read that Simbus and laugh a little bit, but then I cry at the other part because I see the world ideology and thinking about marriage. I see those things coming through those pages. And I told my husband, we got to kill that little thing right there because that right there's going to destroy them one day. We got to be careful because being in the world, we can allow the world to be so attached to our thinking, to our heart, and what we love.
And it's trying its best to get our children. >> Mom and dad, you may be able to stand up and take it a little bit, but your kids are innocent. And the enemy is after your children, and you are the only thing sometimes standing between the enemy AND HIS DESTRUCTION OF YOUR CHILDREN. I NEED some mothers that will rise UP AND SAY, "NO, NOT TODAY, ENEMY. NOT WITH MY FAMILY.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CROSS THAT LINE." SEE, the problem is we have the ability. Ephesians 6:11 talks about the whole armor of God. Put it on that you may be able to stand against the tactics of the enemy. But that's for you. But watch this.
6:13 says, "Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day." It's not just so that you won't fall into his trap. It's that you will guard your home and your life so that that that even the ideology that they're trying to put out there will not become a trap for your family. I mean, we're having to we have to have had to deal with situations in our church where kids would come in and not even know what gender they are. What a day for America to be in. What a day for that proclaims itself as a Christian nation to be in.
I don't want my child confused with what the creator designed and purposed them to be. I don't want the ENEMY TO STEAL THAT IDENTITY OUT of their MIND AND HEART. WHAT GOD HAS PURPOSED and planned for them, the good things he has for them, the enemy's doing it. And you have to be careful. Do you know what I look at driving out the inhabitants today?
I don't know about you, but when my daughter was growing up, I paid her cell phone bill. That meant it belonged to mom. It wasn't hers. I had access to it 24/7. I bought you that computer.
I got access to a 24. There's no password I don't have. And if I jump on there and find there's a conversation or I'm locked out of something, then you're going to be locked out. It comes back to me because I will not allow the enemy to sneak IN A BACK DOOR. I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO COEXIST WITH HIS IDEOLOGY WHERE HE DESTROYS YOU.
THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN on this mama's watch. >> Oh, there were many temptations. There were many tantrums. Oh, I stood it. Oh, it was tough, Mom.
It's like wrestling the the devil sometimes to get that girl. Sneak around, try to get my phone. Here's what we got to be careful. Be careful that you're not letting the devil babysit your kids and then getting mad at the church because your kids don't love God. Is that okay?
It's how I talk to my church. So, y'all just get it this morning. They're so glad I'm gone. Hey, if I don't talk to you like this, who's going to talk to you? The world's not going to tell you this.
The world's not going to tell you to stand up against them for their your children. The world's not going to tell. And can I do Oh, I'm on a tangent now. Praise God. Sister Burton will get on one.
Do you know what I've outlawed in my church? Any sleepovers. I know gets a little quiet. That's all right. You go to the park, you play all day in the park, then you go home and they go home because you do not send your child who is unable to defend themselves into an environment that you don't know.
I know them. They're my best friend. You don't know who has access to that house. You don't know what children have been exposed to. Keep your CHILD SAFE.
KEEP THEM IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. Keep them protected. MOM, RISE UP AND PUT A HEDGE around them. Don't pay for the enemy to come in, steal your child. We have to be careful.
We're fighting against so much. And And I'll just be honest with you. I I understand it from both perspectives, a parent and a pastor. We can't We cannot make your child live for God. We get them a few days a week.
You keep them 247. Mom, you got to rise up and teach them to love the things of God. So, we get an Israel that wasn't doing their job, was thinking they could coexist even though the Lord told them they couldn't. And finally, the Lord said, "Okay, you think you can do it? Here's your chance." But it becomes thorns and snares for their children.
And one generation, one generation of 40 years, Israel goes from knowing the Red Sea and Joshua and Moses and being fed in a wilderness and winning victory after victory. One generation, that's 40 years. That's in a lifetime for us. But one generation goes from knowing God to not knowing him. Look at Judges chapter 2:es 10- 11.
And also all that generation were gathered under their fathers. And there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor the works which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel did evil in that one generation. Scary that one generation just because you think you know more than God. I'm gentle parenting.
God forgive us. I read an article the other day about a woman who had raised her children as gentle parenting for the first seven years of her life. And she was writing this article to say, "I've had to change everything I done. And I'm doing double work and harder work than ever because I've had to go back to a disciplined lifestyle because I realized I was raising a rebellious child who didn't understand that there are lines and there are consequences and there are things that God has placed in his word that we must obey. >> Be careful what you're allowing to exist.
In Israel, Israel was in a cycle. This cycle became sin involved with the other nations, sinning, serving their God. Then all of the sudden, those nations would turn on them and take them into captivity. Isn't that like the enemy? You think you're having fun with him.
The next thing you know, you're enslaved to him. And then they would cry out to God. They'd go back to cry out to God to save them. And God would raise up this judge who would free them from the nation that was lording it over them and set them free. But it didn't last.
And this cycle after cycle was taking place. And then we come to Judges chapter 4 and we're going to find for the first time in the Bible this woman that is raised up. Deborah was not just a judge. Only her and the and Samuel were given the title of prophet and prophetess. There are only two judges in the whole book of judges who serve as both judge and prophet and that is Samuel the great one we know but also Deborah.
No other judge is given this respectful title. Judges 4:es 4-5. And Deborah a prophetus. She is given that title. But she was also the wife of Labad who she judged Israel at this time.
Now, I love this because look at verse five. And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah. I don't know if she just moved in and named it after herself. I'm assuming so. But she's going to judge Deborah, Israel.
And this palm tree is Deborah is between Rama and Bethl in Mount E. and the children, everybody say children of Israel, man and woman, old and young, would come to her for judgment. What's unique about Deborah is not just that she's known as a prophetus and a judge, but it is also because every judge before her stepped onto the scene as a military general. If you read about Offneil, who was the nephew of Caleb, he was the first judge and he defeated the king of Mesopotamia. He stepped up and defeated them and judged the land.
And they did have rest for many years. Ehud, the left-handed judge who slew the fat guy, Eiglon in the Bible, he also rose up and killed Moab and then had Israel had rest for 80 years. And then there was Shamgar who stood up and he slew over the Philistines 600 men. Each of those judges rose up as military men and slew. But then we come to Deborah, the fourth judge in the history of Israel.
And we do not see a woman who stepped up as a military general to have A 10-1 BATTLE. IN FACT, THE Bible says that under the captivity of Jabin, who was the king of Canaan, they had a famous army captain by the name of Cicora. And the Bible says in Judges 4 and verse three, the children of Israel cried unto the Lord because he had 900 chariots of iron. And everybody say 20 years. 20 years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
Now we don't think 900 chariots of iron is a big deal, but when you didn't have a lot of that in that day, that's too that's too much for the children of Israel. He had been oppressing them for 20 years. Deborah didn't rise up and have a one-on-one battle with Cicora and slay him. But Des de Deborah rose up in the very middle of the toughest oppression that Israel had ever seen. No other ruler in the first three judges had 900.
And the Bible says that they were a terrible people ruling over Israel. And for 20 years, this mother rose up during oppression. In fact, Judges 4:4-5 says, "Deborah the prophetist, the wife of she judged Israel at this time." I I just picture it in my mind. I don't know how long Canaan had been subduing Israel. I don't know how long they had been there making them slaves to them and treating them roughly.
But all the sudden, somebody by the name of Deborah, who God had anointed as a prophetist, who God had anointed as a judge, she just goes finds her a tree. Well, I don't have a lot of battle skills, but I tell you what I do have. I know the word of God. Let me just go get under this tree. I'll name it after me.
And if you want to know what the Bible says or how to take care of your kids and your family, just come see me. Now, let me tell you, if all of Israel knew where she was, all of Canaan knew where she was. Cisora knew where she was. The king, Jabin, he knew where she was. But she sat under that tree.
Don't tell me, "Oh, this world's too tough. This world's got too much influence. I don't think I can do it, Sister Burton." Yes, you can. You have the authority and the power. You just got to seize it.
You got to say, "I'm going to step into this moment. This is the most important moment for MY FAMILY. I WILL not allow THE ENEMY TO DESTROY WHAT GOD HAS GIFTED me with. YOUR CHILDREN ARE YOUR GIFTS. THEY ARE YOUR PROMISE.
They are your hope. YOU GOT TO STEP UP, MOM. YOU GOT TO SAY, "HERE I AM, TO KNOW THE WORD AND to fight with the word." Do you know the only thing you need, Mom, is an understanding of your authority in the word of God. The enemy doesn't know how to handle you when you know the word of God because you have the same power that Jesus showed us when the enemy came to him. He didn't fight him.
He didn't wrestle him. He didn't pick up a stick and poke him. He just said, "Hold on a minute. Let's just talk about what the word of God said." And the enemy's like, "No, I don't want to do that. I just want to I just want to get at you.
I want to aggravate you." He said, "No, no, no. I don't come at you with your aggravation. I don't read you word for word what you're trying to get me with. I come to you with the word of God because it is powerful. It's sharp.
I don't need any other sword but the word of God to lift up and to destroy the yolks of the enemy. I'm not ashamed of being a woman with a godly heritage. >> I I travel a lot and I see how crazy the world is. You go sit in airport for a few days. I have a godly heritage.
I have a heritage of years. My mom and dad fought some demons and and tore down some giants like David did for his kids. Those kids never had to face Goliath again. Mom and dad, what giants have you killed for your children? My husband came out of an alcoholic family.
His father was an alcoholic. My husband doesn't touch alcohol. He's never raised his hand in anger and us in alcohol. We've never heard a fight because of alcohol in our home cuz he said, "You know what? I don't want that in my family.
And he slew that giant. And that giant went down and he's raised A GENERATION. HIS DAUGHTER DOESN'T HAVE TO FIGHT THAT CURSE ANYMORE. SHE'LL HAVE HER own battles. She'll have her OWN GIANT, BUT IT WON'T BE THAT ONE.
I WILL DESTROY WHAT THE ENEMY IS TRYING TO DESTROY MY CHILD WITH. And you have been given that authority. I'm telling you what I feel when the Holy Ghost and I travel to women's conferences and I speak all over America. Just came back from Missouri and over and over God is saying I need to raise up an army of women. I love and appreciate every man in our building.
I love and appreciate my husband. But I'm not going to send him out there to fight for our family alone when God has given me an authority to help raise up children that love God with all of their heart, ALL OF THEIR MIND, ALL OF THEIR SOUL, ALL OF THEIR STRENGTH, KNOW HOW TO BATTLE THE DAY, KNOW HOW TO BATTLE THE IDEOLOGY, KNOW how to stand for themselves. I uh my daughter went to a non-denominational Christian school growing up, predominantly Baptist, had Bible class, five days a week. And I was a little worried. Have I put enough of the truth in her?
Until I got the phone call, Mrs. Burton. Yes. can you come to the office when you come to pick up Caitlyn? We need to talk to you.
I thought, "Oh, Lord Jesus." I walked into the office and the principal is there and a gentleman, younger gentleman is there and this is Mr. I can't even remember what his name was. M Mr. So and So, he's a Bible teacher. And I went, "Oh, Jesus, what happened?" Well, we had a class today and he said, "Perhaps I wasn't right in saying it this way, but I said to the children that you didn't really have to be baptized today." I went, he said, "Caitlyn raised her hand, yes, Caitlyn, and begin to quote scripture to me.
What about Acts 2:38? What about Mark 16:16? What about and I thought Caitlyn was in so much trouble and he said, "I just want to compliment you because your daughter knew more scripture than I did." I felt like saying, "Would you like to be baptized?" Can I just tell you? I kind of walked in there with like a, yeah, what am I here for? And I walked out with a, look at that girl go.
Look at that girl go. We did something. We planted something so deep in her that she is only 10 years old, but somebody tells her she don't have to be baptized. And she said, "BUT WHAT ABOUT THIS SCRIPTURE? AND WHAT ABOUT THIS SCRIPTURE?
AND WHAT ABOUT THIS SCRIPTURE? AND WHAT ABOUT WHEN JESUS GOT BAPTIZED AND SHE KNEW ENOUGH TO DEBATE A BIBLE TEACHER? I'd rather her know that than all the nonsense of the world, than all THE IDEOLOGY OF THE WORLD, THAN TO COME HOME AND TRY to get me to explain something against the word OF GOD. PUT THE WORD OF GOD INTO THEM. YOU'RE SENDING THEM OUT with the most powerful weapon THEY WILL EVER HAVE IN their mouth AND THEIR SPIRIT AND WHAT they believe.
She used to say something would happen. She'd get in trouble or she'd ask a question. Mom, what about this? She would say this. She said, "This was the most hated refrain of my childhood." Well, let's see.
What does the word of God say? She's like, "Oh, mother, do we have to?" like, "Yes, because I have to have you build your life upon what is going to last for eternity. I have to let you know that the enemy is a liar, but your God's word is truth and life and hope. Don't teach them to be ashamed. Teach them to be strong." Here's Deborah, this godly mother.
She rises up. In Judges chapter 4, we learn the backstory. Verse six, she sent and she called Bara, the son of Ahino out of Kadesh Neptali, said unto him, watch this. This is a good mother son relationship here. Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded you, saying, "Go, draw towards Mount Tabore, take 10,000 men with you?" She said, "I got to ask you a question, son." It's not really her son in real life, but he's he's the captain of the army of Israel, mind you.
"Hey, Bareric, hasn't the Lord told you what to do? Hasn't he told you how to be the leader?" The Lord had already spoken to Beric, but Bareric didn't listen to God. And God said, 'Okay, that's fine. I'll just jump over you and get this mother in Israel. This mother in Israel's about to get you.
You about to get up and get something done, cuz this mama got her ruler and she is ready to come after you. He He said verse seven, and I will draw thee under the river. This is what to Kishan Siri, the captain of Jab's army with his chariots as much. I will deliver. The Lord's already promised Bareric, I'm going to deliver him into your hand.
Now, now mind you, if you already had the battle plan and the Lord said you're going to win, wouldn't it be easy to get up and go? But for some reason, Bareric had sat there so long, God said, "Go take 10,000 men with you. I'm about to give you Cicora." Well, he's got 900 chariots of iron. I don't know what Bareric stopped him. But he wasn't willing to get up and go until the Lord moved on a mama to say, "Hey, what are you doing?
Why are you not serving God the way you've been taught to serve God? Why are you not living by what God's already spoken to you? And I love the Bible because then we get the first millennial ever. Judges 4:8. Bareric said to her, "If you won't go with me, I won't go." Now, y'all think I'm joking, but I read an article the other day.
Do you know how many millennials have to take their parents to a job interview? You go read that statistic. They won't even go to a I said barracks first millennial. It's in the Bible. He said, "I'm not going if you don't go with me." He's saying that to a mama.
Uhhuh. The Lord SAID, "YOU'VE GOT THE VICTORY BARRACK." I KNOW, BUT YOU GOT TO go with me, mama. And I love it because Deborah said, "All right, that's fine. I'll go with you. But here's what you're going to do.
All that glory you going to get for being the the one who killed sister, you're not going to get it. In fact, God's going to take that out of your hand and give it to another woman. Her name was JL. Bareric wouldn't go without Mama. But when Mama went, something happened.
And and so Ciser is running. He goes into the tent of JL and she puts a tent spike through his head. So in Judges chapter 5, we began to hear the song that they put together in honor of this deliverance over the Canaanites. Her song, Deborah's song explains the conditions in Israel leading up to this victory. Because Judges 5 6-7 in the days of Shamgar, he was judge number three, the son of Anath.
In the days of JL, the woman who won the battle, he she didn't say Bareric, the captain of the In the days of JL, the one woman. Here's what was happening. They were so rough. The Canaanites were so rough on the Israelites that the highways were unoccupied and travelers walked through byways. If they wanted to go from house to house, they couldn't even walk on the streets because the Canaanites would subdue them.
They would sneak through back ways to get into to visit a neighbor or to go somewhere. In verse seven, the inhabitants of the villages ceased. In other words, they weren't out. They weren't around. They died.
They ceased in Israel until I, Deborah, arose, a mother in Israel. Bareric doesn't get any of the glory. Bareric doesn't get any of the honor for being the captain of the army. Only JL, the one who killed Cicora, and Deborah, the mother, who rose AND SAID, "GO." THEY ARE THE ONES who receive the honor for the defeat of the entire Canaanite army. She said, "I saw what was happening and God spoke to my heart and said, "Enough is enough.
I'm going to send you to make a decision." A mother. Think about that. We knew she was a wife. We didn't know she was a mother. She becomes a mother to all of Israel.
And she rises up and says, "This is not how my children are going to live. I'm not going to allow this damage that the enemy has tried to do to my children. You know what she said? Enough is enough. It stops today.
Do you know in the book of Timothy, Paul gives the admonition to women that you are the keeper of the home. That word keeper simply means this, a watchman on the wall. In other words, you have been given the authority to speak over your home to declare, "Oh, the enemy is coming against our families." Can I tell you husbands something? The best thing you can ever do is lay your hands on your wife and release her to have authority in your home. Lay your hands on her and say, "Babe, if you feel like there's something in this home that needs to change, I give you the authority to do it.
Don't fight her when she takes away your cable. Don't fight her when she takes away this or that. Don't fight her when she says that computer's going in the living room. It's not go. You give HER THAT AUTHORITY BECAUSE THAT MOTHER is rising up under the uncction of the Holy GHOST AND SHE'S ABOUT TO DESTROY THE ENEMY THAT WANTS TO DESTROY YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
The sad thing is even Deborah understood took her a while because Judges 5:12 she says ABOUT HERSELF, "AWAKE, AWAKE, DEBORAH, AWAKE, AWAKE and utter this song. You cannot fall asleep. I've pastored for 30 years. My husband and I had conversations with moms when they would allow their children to do certain things would say, "Please don't do that. Please don't do that.
You're lowering some guard rails. You're exposing them to some things. Don't don't do it." And I've had that same conversation 10 and 20 years later when that same mother would come sit in my office weeping. My children don't love God. They don't want to serve God.
They don't want to come to church. And I can't say, but I tried 20 years ago to get you to understand to step up in the authority that you have. Quit telling your children it's okay not to live this lifestyle. Don't do that. You're allowing the enemy into their mind and heart.
We need some mothers to wake up. And we need some mothers to stand up. And we need some mothers to speak up. And we need some mothers to pray up. And we need some mothers to take authority.
And we need some mothers to to a walk in the authority that God is releasing on you. You know what I want you to be in this room, young mom? I want you to be the young mom that fights the enemy so that you don't have to be the old mom who prays for the prodal. I'm not saying if you do it all right that they're going to live for God because the world has a a vicious tug on their hearts. But I'll tell you this, I sure ain't going to give the enemy time to mess with them when they're young.
I'm going to raise them the right way. I'm going to put that taste in their mouth SO THAT ONE DAY THEY'LL ALWAYS KNOW HE'S SWEET. He's sweet. His word is sweet. THE THINGS OF GOD ARE SWEET.
>> If you read the rest of Judges 5, the song turns at the end. It's not the voice of Deborah anymore, but it is the voice of Cicora's mother standing at the window crying, "When will he come back in victory?" Not knowing that her child is already laying dead in the tent of JL. You can be one or the other, but I want to be a Deborah. I don't want my child to die in the world. I don't want my child to be lost.
I don't want my child to lose every victory. I want to give them every fighting chance. I want to give them the armor of God. I want to give them authority. I want to give them uncction.
I want to give them a strong belief system. Listen, if you doubt why you're in the church, your children are going to doubt why you're in the church. You got to fall in love with this. Fall in love with Jesus. Fall in love with the word of God.
Fall in love with worship. Fall in love with faithfulness. Fall in love with giving. Fall in love with your pastor. Fall in love with all the authority.
fall in love with the youth leaders. Quit finding reasons to keep them out of church. BRING THEM EVERY SERVICE. BRING THEM EVERY PRAYER MEETING. BRING THEM every youth rally.
BRING THEM EVERY TIME THE DOORS ARE OPEN. Israel used to build throughout the land memorials. When they crossed the Jordan River under the rule of Joshua to go and take the land, they took 12 stones out of the Jordan River and set them up. And he said this, Joshua said, "These stones are a memorial." Why do we need a memorial? Joshua, for when the children ask.
When the children ask, "What are these stones?" you'll be able to say, "These stones came out of that river when we brought the ark of the covenant into this land and took victory." What memorials are you building, Mom? Do your children have anything to ask about? Do you know your faithfulness to come to church is a memorial? When your kid says, "We're going to church again." Uhhuh. Why are we going to church again?
Cuz the doors are open and the Lord is there and that's our family and we're going and we're going to get a blessing and we're going to hear what our pastor has said. We're going to get that vision. That's why we're going. Mama, we got to go to prayer meeting. Uhhuh.
Why we got to go to prayer meeting? Because you know what? I want you in that room listening to people pray. You know how you're going to learn to pray? You listen to other people pray.
That's how you learn to pray. It's called imitation. And then imitation becomes your real prayer life because you've learned it from hearing someone else. Listen, they don't need to be learning how to scream and holler at the soccer field and not know how to scream and holler at church. I'll just meddle for pastor for just a little bit.
What memorials? Do you know when you march up here with your offering, you're showing why we doing that, Mom? Because we're giving unto the Lord what he's given to us. We're giving back. You're building a memorial and it might be one little stone and one little stone, but before you know it, it's standing tall and that kid says, "What is this?" And you have an answer.
And one day, their children were SAYING, "HEY, DAD, what's this?" Well, let me TELL YOU WHAT MY MAMA TOLD ME. BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THE KNOWLEDGE IS PASSED DOWN. THAT'S HOW THE WORD IS PASSED DOWN. THAT'S WHY WE RAISE GENERATIONS WHO KNOW THEIR GOD AND DO NOT FALL AWAY FROM THE KINGDOM. You can stand.
I'm getting ready to close. When When will mothers arise up? Can I just caution you mothers? I know we live in a day when many of you are wounded by past things that have happened to you. Perhaps it was ab abuse or neglect from your own childhood and it still affects you.
But can I tell you, mother, go to counseling. Go into a season of prayer and fasting. Let God heal that breach because what you don't want to do is so be self-involved with your issues that you miss the moment to train your children. You miss the moment to rise up and say, "No, enemy. This is the gift that God has given me.
You cannot touch it. God in this room, I believe, is asking a question that he asks in Israel. Will the mothers rise up? So, here's what I want to do in closing. If you would, I I'd like you to come as families, husbands and wives.
Bring your children, bring them to the altar. my church, they laugh because I keep my granddaughter with me. If I feel to go pray for somebody, she's right there with me. But I raised my daughter that way. And I've had moms sit in the back with their children and I said, "No, bring them to the altar.
Bring them right here." If you just come as families, I I think it would be good this morning. Here's what I want us to do. I I want us to I want to pray over the wives that God will give you the authority there. Some of you are grandmothers in here. I'm a grandmother.
If your daughter and son are not doing it, God will raise you up to become a spiritual authority to your grandchildren. I want to pray over your families. But if you're a man and your wife is beside you, I'd like you, if you would, just to lay your hand on her because I want you to release her. Release her in authority. Say, "God, I want to release my wife in spiritual authority.
Help her to know right from wrong and to teach our children right from wrong." Nobody in this room wants to see your child devastated with drugs or alcohol or to be lost to negative relationships or the ideology of the world. And I want you to pray for your children. But more than that, mom, it's resting on you. You are the living memorial of who God is to your children. I feel an uncction of the Holy Ghost.
Can you just lift your hands all over this room? Come on, begin to pray. Open your mouth and begin to pray. Come on, mom. Say it.
I receive it, God. If you're pouring out that authority in my life, if you're pouring out that anointing upon me, God, I will receive it. Help me to know what to say. Open my mind to scriptures, God. Let me train up my child in the way they should go.
Help me, God, to turn things around. If I've let things go, let me take back the authority of my home. Make me a keeper. Make me a watchman above the wall of my home, above the door of my home for my children, my grandchildren, God, for those that you placed IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW, GOD. NOW, HUSBANDS, release your wives.
Just pray over them right now. Even if they're not standing beside you, you can release them, God. Let our men realize to release their wives and spiritual authority, God, to release them, God, to become the leaders of their home. Give our women wisdom. Give them understanding.
Give them admonishments, God. Let their voices be heard. Let our husbands release them, God, to raise and to work together to raise up godly children. Come on, lift your hands right there. There it is.
The Holy Ghost is putting authority upon you, ladies. He's speaking that authority upon you. You don't have to lose YOUR DAUGHTERS TO THE WORLD. YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOSE YOUR SONS TO THE WORLD. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THE MOTHER OF THE PRODAL.
YOU'RE GOING TO BE THE MOTHER OF THE CHILD WHO KNOWS, WHO BELIEVES, who understands, who walks in it. There it is. Come on, walk in that mom for just a minute. I pray over EVERY MOTHER, GOD, THAT WOULD HAVE an issue from her past. I pray deliverance for her right now.
I pray a healing of her emotions and her mind and her spirit, God, so that she can walk in the authority and the enemy will not use her past against her. I pray in the name of Jesus that you would remove every doubt and all fear, God, and all anxiety AND ALL DEPRESSION AND ALL OPPRESSION, GOD, REMOVE IT OFF of our women so they can walk in the spiritual authority that you have given them. There it is. Come on. There's the Holy Ghost.
NOW, THE HOLY GHOST IS putting a little uncction on it. Come on, women. Pray in your prayer language. LET THAT VOICE OF AUTHORITY COME OUT OF YOU. Come on with your hands raised.
Come on, let a LITTLE AUTHORITY COME THROUGH YOUR VOICE RIGHT THERE. COME ON. I know YOU'VE HAD ISSUES. I KNOW THINGS HAVE GONE ON IN YOUR LIFE, BUT GOD IS HERE THIS morning and can deliver you from them in one moment so that you can walk IN THE AUTHORITY THAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU. Thank you.
Come on. Come on. We got time for the Holy Ghost are here. That's okay. Some of you, he's taking out the insecurity and he's putting in an authority.
HE'S REPLACING ALL THE DAMAGE that the enemy did to you SO THAT IT WILL NOT GO TO THE NEXT GENERATION. COME ON, LET GOD DO IT RIGHT NOW.
