Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Seculosity and the God of Enoughness
- A book he has been reading names the condition seculosity — secular and religiosity mixed together: the culture has not given up on faith, it has shifted, setting up new places of worship in the everyday corners of life.
- Careers become worship when promotions, raises, and the corner office are treated as if a job title could define our worth.
- Parenting becomes worship when children's achievements — straight A's, sports trophies, college acceptance letters — become the proof of a parent's goodness; helicopter parents who make every decision for a child raise adults who cannot make a decision.
- Technology becomes a way to confess: we post our lives in carefully selected photos and opinions, and the likes, the shares, and the comments can create an identity in us; he fasted social media in January and it helped him mentally.
- Politics turns beliefs into absolute truths and makes those who disagree with us opponents we cannot even sit with at a table.
- Behind it all is enoughness — a self-made god of proving we have value, that we are complete and acceptable on our own; these false gods never let us rest, always asking for more time, more energy, more of us.
Grace, Not Works
- Galatians 2:16: knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ.
- Ephesians 2:8-9: for by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves — it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
- His key verse, Genesis 32:28 — thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel, for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed — announces the wrestling story the message opens up.
- We shy away from preaching grace because the denominational world preaches it so heavily, but grace flips the whole seculosity struggle upside down: Jesus has already paid the price and completed the work; we do not have to try to be the Christ we preach about.
- John 1:16, read on into the verse that follows: of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace; for the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
- 2 Corinthians 12:9: My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness — against every idol of climbing and earning, grace says, I am enough for you.
Scriptures: Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Genesis 32:28; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:16-17; 2 Corinthians 12:9
Esau: The Quick Fix
- Esau was the firstborn, the rugged hunter with the birthright — everything culture told him should have made him enough — yet he came in from the field famished and traded his God-given inheritance for a bowl of red pottage: Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage, for I am faint; behold, I am at the point to die, and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
- That is the core of seculosity: temporary fixes, satisfaction for an hour in exchange for an inheritance — instant gratification wearing a different name and a different piece of technology in the church today.
- Hebrews calls Esau a profane person, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright, and afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
- Romans 9:13 — Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated — is read as God's hatred of the ways of Esau: a heart set on the temporal that gave in to its urges instead of wrestling against them.
Scriptures: Genesis 25:30-32; Hebrews 12:16-17; Romans 9:13
Jacob: The Wrestler
- Jacob dealt with the same seculosity in its other kind: not instant gratification but worthiness — a schemer, a worker, a climber who tricked Esau out of the birthright, deceived his father out of the blessing, and ground out years of labor for his father-in-law trying to prove he was enough.
- Running from his father-in-law and terrified of his brother, Jacob was left alone, and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day; when the man saw he prevailed not, he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh and it was out of joint — and Jacob still held on: I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
- He walked out of the wrestling match with a title that was not a trophy: a name change, from Jacob the deceiver to Israel, and a limp he would carry the rest of his life as a reminder of what he had been through and where he had been.
- The belt belongs not to the spotless or the perfect but to somebody once named Jacob who was willing to wrestle — beat up, bloodied, limping, but still in the house of God: we are more than conquerors.
Scriptures: Genesis 32:24-26
Wrestling Free Tonight
- Grace is not waiting until the end of your struggle: Matthew 11:28-30 — Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest; take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls; for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me — Jesus stepped in and handed us freedom; no more striving to be enough.
- James 4:6: God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble — refuse to let pride keep you from getting into the wrestling match against the things that have become idols in your life.
- Hold on like Jacob until daybreak: linger at the altar as long as it takes to receive the blessing, and walk out with a new identity — even if you walk out with a limp.
- TRUNCATION: the capture ends inside the closing response song; the sermon's call and altar movement are complete in the text, but no dismissal is captured.

has prevailed uh my title's not going to make sense for about 30 or 40 seconds of until I begin to explain it in my introduction but my title is simply this wrestling free from seculosity wrestling this place Lord God and lord they're going to leave here differently than they came in here they're going to leave here Lord God free and liberated God they're going to be set free from things that are holding them God that are binding them Lord God chains are going to fall off in this service tonight I just believe we're going to wrestle free from some things that have us Bound in jesus' name come on if you feel that way just lift up both hands to Heaven come on just love him right now I love you Jesus woo God I thank you for the word we heard from Pastor Hammond this morning I thank you Jesus God we've been liberated oh God that you've given us away Lord God a Salvation a way we don't have to be bound we don't God even when we're bitten Lord by the serpent oh God I thank you Lord God that you've given us Lord God a way you've given us Lord God a way out of the things that we get ourselves into we bless you for it and we're thankful for it come on clap your hands if you're thankful for it he's a God that loves us a God that cares and the god that wants to see us all the way to the end you may be seeing there there's a book that I I've been reading that's really open open my eyes and it's simply entitled seculosity it's by David z zahl i i i highly urge you to to download this book purchase it on Amazon um I believe it's a wakeup call from a Christian thinker who sees through the confusion of our present culture he has sharp piercing Insight on this topic and I I think he's coined this word seculosity but the the author introduces this idea it's a mix of secular en rocity so it's religion and secular that have been mixed together and he's called it seculosity it's to show the culture hasn't really given up on faith entirely we've just shifted and we're setting up new places of worship in an everyday corner of our lives where where the least expected Divinity can reside we take things like careers we take things like like parenting technology politics and we turn them into something that we treat deep almost religious if you will a religious devotion as if they hold the keys to our identity and to our purpose and I just want to talk about a couple of these things and I believe all of us are going to be relate to them in one way or another in in careers it's not just about paying bills BS it's about it's about promotions and raises and trying to get up the corporate ladder getting that corner office believing that somehow a job title can Define our worth He talks about parenting in parenting our our kids' achievements whether it's straight A's or whether it's Sports trophies or or College acceptance letters become the proof of the goodness that we we we feel we deserve as mothers and fathers while there setbacks they they failures failed tests or or rebellious phases they go to it it makes us feel like we have a personal downfall people are trying to live their life through their children it's seculosity it's it's it's putting Idols in place of God a lot of times a lot of times we'll throw off on on Sports and on the NFL and on the NBA and talking about how how we could worship Sports and worship uh become Fanatics for for sports but let me tell you something in our world especially in the Apostolic Church there's things that we can put before God that have nothing to do with sports have nothing to do even with television sometimes it's things like our children and we can feel like because we're parenting because we want to be good parents that it's okay but oh I got news for you we can't live our life through our children let let our kids be our kids let our kids grow well let our kids you know sometimes kids got to got to fall down and Bruise their knee a couple times I watch people as they try to make decisions for their children you say well isn't that what we're supposed to do we we are to a certain extent but then there's what are called helicopter parents helicopter moms and helicopter dads that child can't even move without them trying to make a decision for him and and the problem with it is this if we don't train our children to make good decisions they're going to grow up one day and not know how to make a decision and we're not going to know if they're going to make a good decision or a bad decision I might come to that here in just a few minutes but parenting that could be seculosity technology come on somebody technology is a new way to confess through social media WE Post Our Lives carefully selecting photos witty updates and passionate opinions that we put on social media it's it's a measure of approval it's it's the like and I'm losing my monitors the likes and the shares and the comments the likes and the shares and the comments can can absolutely create in us an identity how many followers we have I just want to slow down right here because a lot of times we we throw off on drugs and alcohol and we talk about we talk about uh we talk about oh man I'm telling you we talk about hits of LSD and we talk about uh we talk about heroin and meth and all these things and we try to tell well these things are are things you can get addicted to we can to get addicted to more things than just elicit drugs we got to be careful as the church what we allow to take control of our minds take control of our hearts I don't want my identity to be represented by what's on this right here matter of fact in January the the best thing I've done in a while I I fasted social media and I cannot tell you how that helped me mentally and it's not that I even I even care about how many friends or how many followers or or whatever the latest terms are it's not even about that it's it's it's about being tied to this device right here to every time I sit down I I feel like I got to open it and open up a social media app sit down with a family and one person's watching YouTube one person's on Instagram somebody's on Facebook God only knows what other apps are out there can't even hardly communicate with one another anymore because there's a control there's there's a there's an idol oh god there there there's an idol that can get control of us it's seculosity right politics what about politics we we faced that this year this past year turns our beliefs into absolute truths making those who disagree with us opponents of us we can't even sit with them at a table right the author of this book seculas he he digs deep into the heart of our culture and he argues that we're not faithless we're just focused on the wrong things we're we're pouring energy into Pursuits we we act like we act like those things which are temporary are what's best he talks about the word enoughness I like how he makes up these words but he he's right because this is what we're facing it's a self-made God where we were hard to prove we've we've got value we're complete we're acceptable on our own and we want to prove it to ourselves and we want to prove it to everybody around us but these are false gods these paychecks these these perfect kids that we want to have these these 5,000 followers they never let us rest they're always asking for more they want more time they want more of us they want more energy it's exhausting just to preach about it and do God did not create us he didn't design us to be defined by any of these things that I'm speaking about he invites us to experience Grace a Grace that doesn't demand your resume we we probably don't preach about Grace enough and I know it's because the denominal world they they they preach it so heavily that sometimes we in the apostolic church we shy away from preaching it but here's the the truth Grace flips this whole osity struggle upside down offering a way out of the mess it's it's Ephesians 2 and8 it says for by grace are ye saved through faith and then not of yourselves is it the great it's it's the gift of God not of Works lest any man should boast lest any man should brag about how they have the ability to save themselves that that's what's being said right here it's God's love in action John 1 and16 says and and of of his faithfulness or fullness have all we received Grace for grace for the law was given by Moses but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ it's 2 Corinthians 12 and9 it reads and and he said unto me my grace is sufficient for thee for my strength is made perfect in weakness so the seculosity the the seculosity that I'm I'm referring to this this great book this this great idea it's all about us trying to climb and trying to earn and trying to achieve enough but Grace said I am enough for you the grace of God simply says you you got to stop struggling and accept what I offer because I've already done the work Jesus has already paid the price of Salvation he's already completed the work we don't have to try to be the Christ we preach about that we don't have to try to be the Christ he's already paid the price the ultimate price so here we go my my story that I really want to talk about is the story of Jacob and Esau because they're like mirrors reflecting the traps that we stumble into every day whether it's uh whether it's chasing quick fixes or or working ourselves to death but Jacob he wrestled and it points Freedom it points us to Freedom a freedom that we can claim if we're willing to let go and Trust Our God but let's begin with Esau he was a man who lived a life of seculosity without even knowing it Esau was the firstborn you you know the story most of you know the story he was the rugged Hunter he was the one with the birthright everything culture told him should have made him enough he had it all here he was again he was the firstborn he was the oldest he was the one who was going to take on his father's name and take on everything his father left to the family it was Esau he he had his life he had his future made but Esau a story in Genesis 25 it tells us how he traded his Birthright for just a bowl of beans Genesis 25 and3 tells us he came into the field he came in from the field famished and he said to his brother Jacob he said said feed me I pray thee with the same red pottage for I am faint and Jacob asked for his Birthright in exchange and Esau said behold I'm at the point to die what profit shall this Birthright do to me come on think about that Esau was so caught up in the moment so driven by his immediate hunger that he traded his god-given inheritance for something that satisfied him for what an hour to satisfy him for maybe a day but that's what seculosity that's the core of it it's temporary fixes that Fleet away it's it's having enoughness that's what it's all about and I know I know listen I know I could preach again I could preach worldly things that I could preach about what the world faces for instant gratification but I believe in the church today we still face with the very same things but it's just a different name it's just a different piece of technology it's just a different way of looking at things uh oh my God help us today to realize we got to put God first and we got to do whatever it takes uh to get the secular out of our belief system amen amen Hebrews 12:6 calls Esau a profane person who for one morsel of meat sold his Birthright and later when he wanted it back found no place of repentance though he sought it carefully with tears Esau fail because he let the world's quick rewards Define who he would be he didn't wrestle against the urges he just gave in Romans 9:13 says and it is written Jacob have I loved but Esau have I hated and I believe this could be better translated than Esau it was the ways of Esau that God hated God saw Esau's heart oh yes he did it was set on the temporal and he turned from him and he turned away but he looked towards Jacob and he said here is Jacob someone who's willing to struggle in order to succeed he's ordered to struggle to find Grace so I quickly want to look at Jacob I I quickly want to see Esau's younger brother because Jacob he also dealt with this very same thing seculosity but it was different it was a different kind because he didn't chase uh simply the the insignificant he came after that of worthiness he wanted to be worthy he wanted instant he he didn't want instant gratification he was a schemer he was a worker he was a climber he was a trickster he tricked Esau his brother out of his Birthright he deceived his father from giving his brother the blessing he spent years working for laan to earn Rachel's hand Jacob's life was a grind he believed his worth came from what he achieved come on I'm preaching to some of us tonight he could secure his own through his own efforts he thought I am enough I can work hard enough I can show my father law that I'm able to do the work uh I can work seven years for my for my wife and then when he was given the sister of Rachel when he was given Leah he worked another seven years and he kept on working and he kept on working he kept on trying to prove himself he kept on trying to prove himself and his life was in shambles but his story takes a turn and this is where I want to begin to preach because in Genesis 32 he begins oh to run again he's not only running from his brother but now he's running from his father-in-law he's terrified that his father-in-law is going to come and take his wives from him and his children from him he's worried that his brother's going to come and he's going to come and kill him because he's stolen his Birthright and his brother has lived a life oh his life has been horrible because of Jacob but here is where we have a wrestling match between Jacob and God himself God in human form a theophany if you will when he wrestles till the dawn with God look with me in Genesis 32:24 Jacob he's left alone and there he wrestles a man with him until the breaking of the day and when he saw that he prevailed not against him he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint and and he said let me go for the day breth and Jacob said I will not let thee go unless thou bless me this wasn't just a physical fight it was Jacob wrestling with seculosity it became so near to his life it began to control his life so much uh he was willing to do whatever it took uh to wrestle it out of his life and I know Pastor ham and he always has cool props and and so so I had to bring a cool prop tonight I got friends in high places y'all this is a world champion WWE wrestling bill I grew up in the 80s and 90s now listen I I have not watched don't judge me I've not Ro watched wrestling in probably 30 some years I wasn't supposed to watch it back then but somehow sorry Mom and Dad back then it was just a bunch of men about 200 lb overweight wearing tights wearing nacho Libro masks you know what I'm saying I couldn't perform any of the moves but I I sure knew what they were the stone cold stunner you youngsters aren't going to have a clue what I'm saying right now but I just got the attention everybody everybody 40 and older man I've got their attention the the tombstone pile driver The Sweet Chin Music the pedigree The Rock Bottom the people's elbow I just heard a woman's cry out right there the choke slam The Diamond Cutter the mandible claw the figure four leg lock now listen some of you imagine Jacob wrestling with God you wrestle you imagine high school wrestling that's not what I imagine matter of fact high school wrestling was kind of awkward if you know what I mean I grew up I grew up in Upstate New York and throughout all the seasons of sports we would have to uh we'd have to play those Sports brother Josh and I was all about during basketball season I was all about playing basketball in gym and volleyball was cool man we played badminton the winter time we cross country skied bet y'all didn't do that man we' get in a line and we'd follow each other we we had Trails out behind the school we cross country skills it was a blast what I hated the most was wrestling season I'm just going to be honest with y'all when I greet you I don't mind shaking your hand putting my hand on your shoulder putting my hand on your back man the wrestling I just to know do with my hands it was awkward I know I'm offending somebody because we probably got Champion wrestlers out here I don't know but but I I can watch WWE and I can understand that man because they they would just they'd bang you overhead with a chair you know what I'm saying like like they come they come flying flying off the corner of the ropes and pile Drive yeah that was okay and I guess what when I imagine Jacob wrestling with this theophany man I I just see some crazy stuff happening I don't see Jacob going into this wrestling match was looking for a looking for a trophy that we give the kids you know the the participation trophies I believe he was looking for this right here the Bible says that man he wasn't going to let go until he walked out a champion he thought God I'm not going to let you're going to have to bless me you're going to have to tell me your name you're you're going to have to explain some things to me because I'm in a bad place I'm in a bad State I've got some Idols that I've been worshiping that I ought not be worshiping I brought some things home from from father-in-law lab and my my my wife has an idol of of her father's under and she's got it under the she's got it under a battle in the tent and I've been worshiping some things and I've got seculosity going on in my life and he said I got to wrestle with you long enough to know that when I come out of this thing it's not going to be me it's not going to be anything that I've done I need you to do something in my life I need you to make a change inside of me I need you to do something for my family because if you don't show up I don't know what's going to happen I believe I'm preaching to somebody today that for far too long you've tried to do it all by your yourself you try to be the man you try to be the woman you're a single mother trying to raise kids and you think that you're enough you've got the spirit of enoughness is what you've got but I want you to know you serve a God who wants to be there for you he wants to help you in the time of need uh he's not going to leave you by yourself he's not going to make you raise your children by yourself he's going to step in he's going to be the father that your children don't have he's going to step into your life and be the provider that you don't have but you got to realize You' got to wrestle long enough to allow God to do something great into your life oh woo what he walked out what Jacob walked out of that wrestling match with he had a title he had a title but it wasn't it didn't look quite like this uh it was a title his name was changed from Jacob to Israel from Ser planter from dece oh my God from a deceiver woo his name was changed during that wrestling match because the Bible says that God touched the inner part of his thigh and took his thigh out of joint to I began to read that Brother Dean and when he I thought to myself well that must be why he let go is when God shoved his thigh and shoved his body out of sword that he didn't let go when that happened he kept on holding on cuz it wasn't about him letting go God was saying I'm going to give you something that you're going to remember W you're going to remember this wrestling match the rest of your life you're going to walk with a li for the rest of your life you're going to remember that you thought you had it all taken care of uh you thought you you thought that you were enough for your wives you thought you were enough for your children but my God says I'm more than enough I said I'm more than enough I'm going to remind you I'm going to give you a title I'm going to give you an identity change a name change that's going to change history and it's going to change the future we have a country in the Middle East a powerful country because that's what the name Israel means it means power with God and power with men you think you think it's because of America that that little small country of Israel still is in the Middle East oh no no no I thank God that we have a president and we have a country that loves Israel but I want you to know it's a place of power it's a place of Power with God and a place of Power with Mankind and it all took place in a wrestling match and I know I might I might have it a little far-fetched today and I know some of you are offended because I'm talking about the WWE I'm so sorry but I just have a big imagination when I think of my big God woo when I look back over my life and see the stuff he's brought me through experiences that I've had come on somebody you got you got to help me testify just for a moment because I know some of your stories right sister Heather I know some of your stories you don't know what it does to me to watch you walk up and and dance across the front because I remember oh my God I remember moving to marville 26 years ago oh there's been a lot of water under the bridge but I'm glad to say you're here today sister Heather you're here today sister Heather you got a beautiful daughter that's about to marry a young man and do great things for God you've got children coming back you've got grandchildren in Jesus I claim in Jesus name but you got to understand there might be some type of Li that you're going to have to carry the rest of your life it's okay it's just reminded you of what you've been through and where you've been brother B we can't have a testimony without a test you may be seated man I tell you one of the hardest things of being a second generation preacher is I don't have the same testimonies that first generation preachers have I can't get up here and tell you I smoke two packs of of cigarettes a day I I can't get up and tell you that I I've smoked a joint I can't get up here and tell you that I I've drank alcohol and got drunk I can't can't get up here and tell you that because none of that's happened but I'm looking out over people that used to be on bar stools on a Friday night and you you you gave up your whole paycheck just to drink your sorrow away but then woo but then you had an encounter you had a little wrestling match and you wrestled free from secularity you wrestled yourself free from those false god and those false Idols that you thought you were enough I wish some with hel me that has a testimony in this place that you can say hey I've got a title I've got a title my title says Champion we are more than conquerors we are more than conquerors come on I know you may be seated Genesis 38:20 32:20 I just want to make sure I read this thy name Shall be Called nor no more Jacob but Israel for as a prince oh I like that for as a prince hath thou power with God and with men and Hast prevailed hey you might have got your hip knocked out a joint you might walk with a limp but you prevailed you got what you came looking for ah I'm almost done oh my goodness I'm I'm over time already the spirit of seculosity that ruthless voice of enoughness is real and it's Relentless and it'll wear you down it'll leave you grasping for life if you let it but there's good news you don't have to keep fighting Al because Grace oh I'm so thankful for Grace Grace isn't waiting until the end of your struggle I said Grace isn't wai ring till the end of your struggle it's one to break through tonight uh in the chaos of somebody's life uh Jesus called out in Matthew 11:28 come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am meek and lowly oh ye shall find rest unto your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light this Bel doesn't belong to the Spotless to the perfect it does belong to he who never stumbles but belongs to somebody who once was named Jacob and now is named Israel it belongs to oh it belongs to somebody who's saying I'm willing to wrestle oh my God I know I might walk out all bruised up banged up limping up out of here I love preaching messages like this because I'm looking out at faces man I I know your testimonies and it it fires me up and I wish I would have I wish if if I would have thought about it beforehand I would have found some of y'all and got some permission but I look out at some of you and I think to myself I didn't know if they were going to make it out of the fight they went in just like Jacob they went all in all alone trying to free themselves of stuff generational curses generational stuff that had gotten a hold of them stuff they thought they could never let loose of but we watched you and we pray for you and we believe for you and the next thing we know you show back up to church you show back up with your wife you showed back up with your children all of a sudden well we thought there was no hope for you you walk back in those doors and said hey God has brought me through another day the devil thought he had me but Jesus came and grabbed me he pulled me up out of a Mary clay woo drugs thought they had me El thought they have me and what am I trying to say what I'm trying to say is some of you have got to face it and every day you've got things wrong WR with you you got things wrong in your body because of previous Lifestyles some of y'all got brain cells that were burned out by drugs that you you you took you shot up you snorted you pumped in your early days and you've got to face that but I got good news for you you're still in the house of God you might have a limp but you're still in the house of God one thing oh ah I want to go too carnal but one thing that I notice about every wrestler or every boxer or anybody else that wears one of these belts they always look beat up man they got their noses crooked got two black eyes got blood running all over their face got blood all over their body got blood got blood dripping but man when you're wearing the build it doesn't matter when you've got salvation when you're on the road to heaven when you're watching your CH children come up through a Christian school and you're seeing them when you watch your grandchildren sing in a choir on a Sunday night I know we've got a lip but we also got a belt that says Champion we also have a belt that says I've been through it I've had a face some things in my life I tripped but I've got back up again I've tripped but I've got back up again I fell off the wagon but I got back on the wagon again come on somebody I wish you just begin to praise God for what he's brought you through I wish you just begin to praise God for what you've been set free of you wrestled your way out of some stuff and I know we give God all the glory but sometimes we got to get all by our our eles and just begin to wrestle things out of our life wrestle free from secularity oh to stand your feet I'm almost done I'm done I'm done I'm done Galatians 2:20 tells us say I am crucified with Christ that sounds painful that sounds ugly that sounds bloody nevertheless I live yet not I but Christ liveth in me and the life which I now live in the flesh woo I live by faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me come on somebody that's the prize Jesus stepped in Jesus took over Jesus handed us freedom Jesus did it no more striving no more worried about being enough I wish tonight I wish somebody could make their way into the altar you've been struggling I don't know what you've been struggling with there's so many things we struggle with there's so many little things that get in our way so many things that that try to Blind us and try to trip us up uh Strong Tower young person I'm sure there's something in your flesh you've been struggling with but you got to wrestle free from it I God don't let social media take over your life I wish I just talking the students I'm talking to everybody how don't people in their 60s and 70s who who figured out Facebook and it takes over their life tries to identify who they are I got to look like her I got to look like him looking through to see who liked your post my god there there's apps that aren't even bad there there's all kinds of apps said I'm trying to suck you in to do horrible things it's just simply it controls your time I would read my Bible but I don't have time I would pray but I don't have time I do my homework but I don't have time I'd write that paper but I don't have time that blessed science fair project oh we have time it's just what are we doing with our time God help us break fre Break Free of those things God come on every age group in this place I wish there's somebody that just say God I refuse to be caught in the same trap that Esau was caught in I refuse oh God just just something so easy so little so minute Lord just a bowl of beans something so silly they could somehow pull me away from my Birthright there ought to be a country in the Middle East called Esau it should be Abraham Isaac and Esau but just one little insignificant bowl of beans my God Esau go find your own beans go make your own soup I don't even like bean soup God when I go to Mexican restaurant I say hold the beans I don't even like beans you gave everything up for that but if somebody can come into this place and figure out what your idol is James 4:6 says but he giveth more grace wherefore he saith God resisteth the proud but giveth Grace unto the humble I refuse to let Pride keep me from getting in a wrestling match against things that have become Idols in my life the Holy Ghost just swept into this place somebody in this room just decided I'm sick and tired of fighting against the same things the same little Idols the same things that trip me up the same cycle of sin I'm so sick and tired of fighting those same things I wish you would come to this Altar and get on your knees and just say God I'm ready to make Lord heaven my home and if I'm going to make Heaven my home I got to straighten up uh and I've got to walk with a lip and I've got to get a name change and I've got to fight with everything inside of me to wrestle myself free from seculosity come on come on come on come on right here you there's got to be a spirit of desperation there's got to be a Jacob spirit that says God helpo I'm willing to fight I'm willing to wrestle all night long until day break if I have to as Pastor Hammond said I'm willing to linger in this altar as long as I have to until I receive the blessing that I need to receive I need a new identity I need a new identity God help help help help help God right now to every paren I pray God help them to raise their children God help me as a father I want to be able to raise my daughters God to fear you uh and to make right decisions God and to put you first in their life uh I got to raise my daughters to fear you oh God but at the same time God I got to allow them to be who they are I got to allow them to fight their own battles I got to allow them oh God to be Lord God what you've called them to be the Holy Ghost is thick right here come on if you're not feeling that something's wrong you got to get your hands up get your antennas up come on you got to feel after God right here he's want to release you of things willing to love like I've never loved before I'm willing to forgive like I've never forgiven before I'm willing to forget like I've never forgotten before come on there's a ministering spirit in this
