Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The heartbeat of God
- The guest preacher thanks the pastor and his wife and the church for letting them be here this weekend, and gives honor to his own wife, whose notes he is preaching from.
- God has a distinctive heartbeat that propels him to action; to know God is to know his heartbeat — David longed for it, and John leaned on the Lord's breast at supper to hear it.
- Blood pressure measures the health of the heart: the body must match the intensity of the heartbeat at the source — and when the systolic and the diastolic are right, what you have is apostolic.
- Christ is the head of the church and dictates the pace of the heartbeat — unless the body is sick.
The whole creation groans
- Romans chapter 8, verses 22 through 23 read: the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.
- And not only they, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption — the redemption of our body.
- All of creation can feel the ticking clock of mankind's temporary existence winding down toward the close of the ages.
Scriptures: Romans 8:22-23
At the last trump
- First Corinthians: in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed; this corruptible must put on incorruption and this mortal immortality.
- Then shall be brought to pass the saying, death is swallowed up in victory — O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
- First Thessalonians: the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and the trump of God, the dead in Christ shall rise first, and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air.
- But what about everybody else? That question should put the church on its face every day — people will not make it because people like us do not tell them.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:52-55; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
Moved with compassion
- Matthew chapter 9 and verse 36: when Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd.
- He will always leave the ninety-nine and go after the one — because if he always goes after the one, he will always have the ninety-nine.
- The heartbeat of God is lost and dying souls; we are the apple of his eye, the creation he said was very good.
Scriptures: Matthew 9:36
No intercessor — so his arm brought salvation
- Isaiah 59 and 16: he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore his arm brought salvation unto him, and his righteousness sustained him.
- The intercessor is the link between two points — and the cross is where the intercessor hung his heart, at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical pieces, where heaven connects to earth.
- Before there was anything — before let there be light — God saw our faces in the darkness, and his love propelled him to action as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Scriptures: Isaiah 59:16
Not 19 — 28:19
- He is not so much worried about COVID-19 as about 28:19 — Matthew 28:19, the great commission: go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
- There is no disqualification: in the temple Jesus reached for a prophet, Simeon; with his last heartbeats on the cross he reached for a thief — the heartbeat of God is for whosoever will.
- The altar call invites everyone to search for the Lord's heartbeat, and to pray for someone else — bind your prayer together with theirs and believe God for them.

his family we love them dearly we give them honor today thank you so much praise the god of glory and let may those blessings be upon you i give honor to your your church today as well it's a good looking house today there ain't no people like god's people if i could get a little southern this morning there ain't no people like god's people because god's people can dwell together in unity and i thank god for that to those watching online we uh we give honor to you today too thank you for tuning in to cornerstone apostolic church if you're looking for a church in the area this is where it's at i'm here to tell you there's a presence in this place if you're looking for god you can meet him where you're at but you can know him right here and it happens every week and we're excited we're excited about it you may be seated this morning give honor also to my wife today she's so gracious to be with me uh and you know if the the notes that you hear will come from her so i'm just you know the speaker but we give honor to her also today we love her dearly just want to talk to you a few moments this morning i'm i'm not a long preacher by any means so i hope to have you out by four o'clock this afternoon right in time for the building oh wait a minute no okay no seriously i believe god's going to do something powerful in this place i think god's going to speak to our heart this morning with a word from god today the heartbeat of god who can hear it who can know it what does it sound like even though the god of the universe is not originally flesh and bone he does have a distinctive heartbeat that propels him to action much like our hearts move and propel us the great god that reminded job that that he was the only one present when he began his creative masterpiece as a heartbeat fueled by an unwavering and relentless desire if god is great hear me today then his heartbeat is great as well if god performs the miraculous then it would be accurate to say and describe his heartbeat as the mode from which all of his actions are performed if we were created in god's image and our hearts our own hearts beat to the effectual working of every muscle and every joint then if we're in his image it's safe to say that god is propelled by a similar force he's motorized he's mobilized he's propelled by a heartbeat as it were and thus the heartbeat of god is an eternal cadence the cadence of eternity it's the driving force behind his motivation it it propels his thoughts it influences all of his actions and i'll take it a step further to know god is to know his heartbeat you can't get close to someone without hearing their heart beat david heard it he longed for it he was a man after god's heart he sought it and he wanted it john the apostle john leaned on the lord's breast at supper he was his stethoscope why because he wanted to hear the heartbeat of god he wanted to hear what it was he wanted to know what made him tick come on somebody i want to know his heartbeat i'm going to lean on his breast here today when i'm feasting on the word because i want to know what makes him tick paul said he wanted to know him in the fellowship of his suffering and in the power of his resurrection come on i'm here to tell you that there's a god that's got a heartbeat for people that he's reaching and he's pulling for amen amen and we feel as we get close to that eternal god and as you get close to anybody you feel the pressure of the beat over boom boom boom over and over and over so you can't talk about the heartbeat without also talking about blood pressure now to measure blood pressure we measure both systolic and diastolic pressures do i have any medical professionals in the house today anybody no hopefully i don't fall out with a heart attack but we've got a god right amen so we measure systolic and diastolic pressure the bottom number refers to your blood pressure when your heart muscle is between beats this is called your diastolic pressure the top number refers to the amount of pressure in your arteries during the contraction of your heart muscle essentially this is a measure of how the body responds to the pressure of the heartbeat this is called systolic pressure why is this important it's because we're talking about heartbeats and blood pressure is a measure of the health of the heart see the body needs to match the intensity of the heartbeat in order to sustain life if the pressure at the source is good and it always is then the intensity must be matched by the body and if it's good then you have quality life somebody in this house get me today i'm talking about the body of christ being in tune with the heartbeat of god because if the heartbeat of god at the source has the right pressure and the heartbeat can be matched by the intensity of the church which is the body of christ then nothing can stop come on somebody if you got the systolic right and you got the diastolic right then what you got is apostolic and i'm here to tell you today that there's an apostolic church in chattanooga tennessee that's got the heartbeat of god pumping through their veins and the gates of hell shall not prevail yes praise god hallelujah christ is the head of the church he said go into all the world he's the head of the body if he's the head of the body then he dictates the form and the function and the pace of the heartbeat that is unless the body is sick if the bride and the bridegroom are one flesh they have and share one heartbeat as it were and today the spirit and the bride say come jesus said compel them to come to the house we match the intensity of the heartbeat i'm talking about spiritual blood pressure and and once we have the blood of jesus applied to our lives we we start to feel the pressure of a world that is lost so what exactly is god's heartbeat what makes him tick how can we know it what is the propelling force before we know that exactly we have to understand something about the beat the cadence the tempo it's the rhythm it's a a rhythmic harmonic system the god of the universe instilled a harmonic cadence throughout the cosmos when he created everything from nothing everything that was spoken everything created was written on an eternal score a song fashioned with the cadence of eternity god spoke things into existence and they simply were but the bible says something interesting about creation in this sense romans chapter 8 verses 22 through 23 it says for we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now and not only they but ourselves also which have the first fruits of the spirit how many have the first fruits of the spirit we got the holy ghost can i get a witness somebody got the holy ghost in this place has it transformed your life has it tuned you into the heartbeat of god and not only they but ourselves also which have the first fruits of the spirit even we ourselves grown within ourselves waiting for the adoption to wit the redemption of our body jesus said if you've done it to the least of these you've done it to me there's a principle in the word of god that shines through the words on the page if the statement is true then god's heartbeat is connected to the human race if you haven't figured it out yet the heartbeat of god is lost in dying souls and it beats with the ticking clock of the temporary existence of mankind everything god has done from creation to calvary to current has been done with this one motivating factor in mind and all of creation can feel it as it does the clock ticks down and winds down to the consumption of the ages we groan we honestly wait his coming because we can feel it it's winding down it is coming to a close and oh for those that know him what a day that will be in a moment first corinthians says in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump for the trumpet shall sound and the dead in christ shall be raised incorruptable and we shall be changed come on for this corruptable must put on incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality this old body is going away hallelujah can i get a witness in this place anybody tired of that old body so when this corruptable shall have put on incorruption and this mortal shall have put on immortality then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written death is swallowed up in victory o death where is thy sting o grave where is thy victory wow what a promise that we have in the scripture we earnestly wait for his coming first thessalonians puts it this way it says for the lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of god and the dead in christ shall be raised first o and then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together in the clouds to meet the lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the lord what a promise we have in scripture that's exciting right that should get our hearts going a little bit huh it should get the blood pumping a little bit right but one thing what about everybody else that question should have us on our faces every day as the heartbeat of god pumps through us people won't make it because people like me and people like us don't tell them because we don't try that ladies and gentlemen is the sobering and simple truth of the heartbeat of god lost souls the lord gave us a picture of this in matthew chapter 9 and 36 it says but when he jesus saw the multitudes he was moved with compassion on them because they fainted and were scattered abroad as having as sheep having no shepherd this particular passage of scripture is important because it marks the very first time where jesus was moved with or displayed compassion using the physical realm to give us a glimpse of what it looks like eternally jesus had compassion on the human race because he had they had no one to lead them to where they needed to be they had no one to teach them how to get them to heaven to be with him for eternity and that made him cringe it made him yearn and it moved him to action he will always leave the 99 and go after the one because he knows if he always goes after the one he'll always have the 99 he'll always have the 99 if he goes after that one and so his heartbeat his heartbeat is after us we're the apple of his eye we are the the creation that he holds dear the one that he said was was very very good the the one that he looks to the one that he longs for the one that he yearns for jesus is the manifestation of god almighty for god became a man and he he dwelt with us and he he lived amongst his creation he bled and he died and he was buried and he raised again the third day defeating death hell and the grave we know this we're taught this but one thing that slips through the fingers of our mind sometimes is that we have to always remember that when jesus when god got a body he didn't just forget everything that he had felt for eons prior he still had the same feelings he still had the same heartbeat if it were it was just now the heartbeat incarnate it lived with us but that same god reached for the same people he had been reaching for since the fall of humankind and as he lived with us he began to feel what it was to be human but he didn't stop being god for one second he had that same heartbeat he had that same passion his undying love for us his heartbeat his heart is after us it's the reason he created us it's the reason he came to this earth and took on human flesh for me for you for all those that are lost for everyone that's struggling everyone that is addicted to a chemical everyone that is in some form or some fashion lost he came god crossed eternity to get to us heaven is his throne and earth is his footstool and if can you picture this if heaven is god's throne and the earth is god's footstool and god as a spiritual being fills all space and all time at once how far is the distance between heaven and earth it's infinite there is no difference but that's the that's the distance that god crossed for you that's what he went through for you because he loves you before there was anything made before there was time itself before anyone reached for anybody god reached across the infinite abyss of nothingness and emptiness as the lamb slain from the foundation of the world because he saw you because he saw the multitudes in their sin and there was nobody to bring us back before there was anything there was silence has anybody ever been in utter silence i'm not talk i'm not no crickets no rats no nothing i'm talking about darkness i'm talking about silence has anybody ever been there you can be in such silence you can hear your own heartbeat you can hear it pump blood through your veins before there was anything before there was anything spoken god before he spoke let there be light before he flung the stars into existence there was his heartbeat and there he was in darkness as he wrestled with his foreknowledge he went through the ages and he saw your face and it moved him and it prompted him to say let there be light it wasn't just a declaration and a command because nothing existed at the time no he saw the darkness in you and he saw the darkness in us and he as he wrestled with it and as he struggled with it out came a burst of power let there be light and there was light because his mind was on us as the lamb slain from the foundation of the world it's the power of his love for a creation that didn't exist that was the driving force behind all creation for love is what pumps through the heart of a savior that beats with the heart of a cadence of eternity the lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but is long-suffering to us word not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance he longs for us to come back to him he made a way for us to come back to him we have to stop and really think to ourselves what the great god of the universe gave up for a chance to be reconciled to us again he gave up the humanity that he had taken on in the form of jesus christ and sometimes that seems so simple for us just because we're human so what's the big deal but why is this significant for god now this is simple but follow me real quick because god is god he's not inherently human right can anybody agree with that i think we can all agree that because god is god he was not originally human the god of the universe that owns everything has everything did not know firsthand what it was like to be human yes he's omniscient he knows everything but he didn't feel humanity until he got himself a body until he became flesh can you imagine what the one thing that an eternal god didn't have was worth to him can you imagine that for a second but that's what he gave up for you he gave up his flesh he gave up his humanity to be with us the one thing that an eternal god didn't have he poured it out on calvary so that we could be with him forever can i tell you you're worth every drop of the blood that was spilled on that hill in god's eyes you're worth it he longs for you he reaches for you he searches for you it's a relentless heartbeat it's an unwavering desire that he has in himself isaiah 59 and 16. the great prophet isaiah penned these words he said and he saw that there was no man this is god and he wondered that there was no intercessor therefore his arm brought salvation unto him and his righteousness it sustained him he crossed the infinite abyss of nothingness to get to us he looked out over the landscape of the eons and he saw that there was no chance we had no chance so he did it he did it he became the intercessor because he saw the addict taking another hit of the crack pipe he saw the struggling mother in his foreknowledge not be able to to make ends meet and struggle in poverty he saw everyone in their sin he saw me in my sin he saw you and your sin and it moved his heart to action and he became the intercessor he wondered that there was no intercessor the word intercessor has its roots in the word intersection the crossing of two points intercessor is the link between two points the cross is where the intercessor hung his heart on the intersection the cross consisted of two members follow me it consisted of a horizontal piece that seemed to symbolize the connection of humankind and then it consisted of the vertical piece that seemed as it were to connect heaven with earth and on that peace the lord hung his heart for you right there in the middle where the two points connected was where his heart was right at the intersection point right where it mattered the most where heaven can connect to earth and subsequent all humanity was where his heart was a beautiful illustration of what god displayed from the beginning of time often times when the bible refers to our heart it's really talking about our mind and so as jesus as jesus hung on that cross he would fall down he'd fall down and his mind his head would cross that intersection point and it would cause him to cry out ah and he'd raise up and he'd put his heart back on that intersection point because he'd think about you and he'd think about me two thousand years ago removed from the cross he had us in his mind he had us in his heart can we stand all over this place today i told you i wouldn't be long but what i feel right now is the power of a god that beats his heart beats with the cadence of eternity god's come into this place today to display his heartbeat and instill a burden in somebody he's come today to infect somebody with his love and with his relentless passion so today i'm not so much worried about covet 19 as i am about 28 19. matthew 28 19. go into all the world preach the gospel to every creature the great commission the great commandment that we have that's the heartbeat of god and if you're here today and you don't know him i want you to know that there's a god that's got a heartbeat for you you may not know him but he knows you he sees you in your pain he sees you in your struggle and he's crying out he's crying out with the cadence of eternity you are the reason why everything was created you yes you when jesus was little they brought him to the temple and a certain man named simeon who who was a prophet of sorts beheld him now what was significant about this is god promised simeon that before he died he would get to see the messiah the savior of the world and as he was presented with jesus he glorified god that god fulfilled that promise now we fast forward 33 years and jesus is hanging on a cross between two thieves and there within the span of 33 years jesus reached with his first few heartbeats he reached for a prophet but with his last few with his last few he reached for a thief he set a murderer free that's what he did with his heartbeat the point is is that there's no disqualification we we can be somewhere between a prophet and a murderer it doesn't matter it doesn't matter the heartbeat of god is for whosoever will it's for you it's for me nobody's worthy of it nobody deserves it it's unmerited it's unmerited from prophet to murder to thief whosoever will let's bow our heads today lord thank you for this time thank you lord for showing us your heartbeat thank you god for looking out before any creation was ever done you looked out and your heart to love propelled you to action you saw us in our dire situation in our desperate need and you turned to us you lifted your face on us god you became a man died for us and rose again so that we could be with you for eternity so you wouldn't have to be without us thank you jesus thank you god for showing us your love i'm going to invite everybody right now altar is open i don't know your your custom here specifically but if you want to find a place to pray seek after the lord's heart it's here in this place today it's open before you search him seek him and you shall find the bible says knock in the door shall be opened to you why don't you find some place some time today to search for the lord's heartbeat thank you jesus for there is there's a cross on the cross there is on the hill there's a cross there's a heartbeat for you it doesn't matter where you come from what your background is what your struggle is god's bigger god's greater god can love more do more reach still more the power the wonderful power to heal our diseases and cover our weakness there for is for me he still has the power the wonderful power to heal our diseases and cover our weakness he still has the power he still and cover our weakness to heal our diseases let the lord use you right now come on reach out let faith move in your life great god i'm gonna pray for my brother today don't be selfish come on pray for someone let god come on let god use you right now lord you can do a work in them i am binding together with them my prayer god is connecting with their prayer and we're believing you lord come on pray pray for like you want them to pray for you you know what you're going through you know what's happening in your life you know the blood that you
