god bless you you may be seated my honor to pastor for allowing me to speak today and to be honest with you is something i'm going to share with you today that the lord has dealt with me on for a number of weeks and so as i minister to you understand that god is leading me as well i don't take his word lightly and i've never had anything given to me by god that i didn't receive something out of it too his words alive his words alive hallelujah hallelujah god is good he's good his word's good his word is good hallelujah hallelujah amen i'm going to talk to you a little bit tonight today about something that a lot of us probably would have problems with and i'll raise my hand but i want to talk to you on a subject that i feel that is very needful in this day and time we live in how many you've ever had your children to say when you're on a road trip and what reminds me of this is little tucker he gets uh one of those little nursery rhymes what what is it called cocoa melon yeah y'all ever heard of that yeah well it goes on at my house anytime tucker's around and he he knows that i will turn it on for him and so nursery rhymes are something that kind of sticks in my head and uh i guess at work they think i'm going back through my childhood i don't know but this little one here says are we there yet how many you ever been on a trip and in your mind you're saying are we there yet or maybe you did say it are we there yet how many uh as a child you remember saying are we there yet because it's just uh it's one of those things that uh we like it right now don't we how many you like mcdonald's now i i know their food can't be good for you but what do you like about mcdonald's it's cheap and you can get it pretty quick right in the 21st century the day and time we live in we can take our food and pop it into this little black cube in our in our kitchen and within minutes sometimes seconds we can have hot meals right what's that thing called a microwave yeah really good for you we can have our hot meals and then there are our little devices that we carry in our pocket we can pull it up and we can have face-to-face talks with people around the world within seconds we can ask a a the device whether it be google or whether it be we probably need to scratch those names today but whoever it may be alexis and we can say we can ask it questions and it's going to give us an answer right it gives us the answer immediately i i would probably dare to say that you could give some of these young ones a dictionary a webster's dictionary and they would look at it and say what is this uh-huh but that is the world we live in the world that we live in we have things that are so quick they're here in our hands right now our food you go to a restaurant probably some of you will go to a restaurant after service and as you stand there in line the lady or the man will tell you that it probably will take 45 minutes and some of you will probably turn around and say i'm not coming here we're going to go somewhere else why because we're used to that time that time frame we want it now that's the world we live in we want it now i was uh reading through a book that i had and been sitting on my desk for some time or my my side table and i picked it up a few days ago and started looking through it and came across some some some ideas and some things that that maybe would say today and i i found one and i thought it very interesting that went along the lines of what i'm talking about today but there was there was this man one time that he had a mountain that was outside of his house just outside of his yard behind his house and his hopes and dreams one day was to climb that mountain that's what he wanted to do because he had heard a lot of good things about climbing the mountain and there was people always going up that mountain and so he decided that he was going to he was going to investigate a little bit more and see when he could go and how to get up there and the two questions that he would ask he would ask how did you get up there and what did you see and everybody that he would go to and ask them this question they would return and they would say you know what this is how i got there and he found that very stressful he said it's it's just too hard on the body and this is what i saw and he would paint they would paint these pretty pictures of what he saw what they saw at the top of the mountain and he would find somebody else coming down the mountain and he'd say what how did you get there because he's looking for an easier route to get there and they would come back with basically the same story as i had to wind this way and that way and when i got there this is what i saw and would be a beautiful setting and person after person would come down that mountain and he would ask them the question before long his journal was full of how they got there and it seemed like it was the same way every time but the picture that he received of what they saw was beautiful there came a day that he decided that i really don't need to climb that mountain because i already know what's lying ahead and he says i already know what that i'm going to see was a very sad picture that was painted because the truth was the man was basing the sight and the journey on somebody else's experience i want you to hear me this morning and i hope that this is very clear to you that what we are experiencing in our world today there are many journeys that you and i will take and there's many things that you will you will indulge in and there's many things that you're going to be able to see and but there's one thing about it is you cannot base your experience or somebody else's experience and live that you're going to have to find a way to experience this yourself i want to talk to you for just a few moments on this simple subject and that is wait wait there are many places in the scripture that we will find that talk about weight that talk about waiting on the lord one of those is found in isaiah the 40th chapter many of you could probably quote that isaiah 40 and verse 31 but they who wait on the lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as eagles they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not fame there are many things that we can say about that scripture but i don't i just want you to capture that portion that says they that wait on the lord there was many in the scripture and i i repeat myself there is an art that comes with waiting there is an art of waiting knowing what is it god that you have for me and then all of a sudden it seems that god does not answer how many have ever been there song that we just sang along with our praise singers take me through the fire think about it i mean you want to walk through fire none of us really but there are things that's going to happen to you in your life and you're going to say why can't i have it now we live in the century that that's what we have is i have it now i can take my device and i can open it up and i can find just about anything i want to know about anything right but i am going to tell you this this morning and do not take this harshly but there is nothing that will ever take the place of god's love nothing there will be nothing that will ever take the place of that holy ghost experience that you've ever experienced nothing will there are some times though that you've got to wait on some things there's some times that you've got to wait and when god says wait he means wait you know and first samuel and we're not going to turn there for the sake of time but first samuel the 16th chapter we find that the story of a young man that is hurting sheep and samuel has gone to a man named jesse's house and he goes to this man's house and he says god has showed me that our next king is in your house jesse having all of the these sons that he had he takes and starts marching them out and says well is this one is it this one is it this one and samuel looks at him and says no he says is this all that you have no he said i still have one that is out on a hillside back there in the back and he is he's taking care of sheep but you see jesse had not thought about david as being a king we find he calls for david and samuel says that's the one and he is anointed that day but you know we that story does not escalate it does not advance at that point it has not gone anywhere david returns to herding sheep doesn't he david returns to doing for the next 15 years from what history tells us he is he is about doing what he normally does watching out for lions tigers and bears and he is he's out there taking care of daddy's sheep but he's been anointed by god the man of god has anointed him as next king now imagine that god said wait one that comes to mind is joseph joseph is one of those that i think if any of our children probably could could talk about the story that is one of the stories we tell joseph with his coat of many colors he has found favor in his father's eyes and so he's basically a homebody with his dad and his dad sends him to take care take food to his brothers and they're very jealous because what is he somebody tell me what joseph uh joseph was he's a dreamer tells me he's been spent a lot of time sleeping but he is he's dream dreams and he would share these dreams with his brothers that i remember so vividly that that i i you you guys were bowing down to to this and this was mine and y'all were bowing down to it and he's telling them all of these stories and they saw the opportunity to take this guy out and joseph goes to take supper to his brothers they take him away and put him into a pit and the story of joseph begins with these ups and downs at that point joseph knows what god has spoke to him joseph knows in his mind that this is what god wants me to do joseph knows that there is something great for him to do but there is something about waiting on the lord he has to go to the pit then he comes out of that goes to the palace comes out of that goes to prison and here he is going in and out of these places now i don't know about you but i would be one of those that would be saying hold on just a minute god is the god of hills and valleys i know that but my head is spinning i i want to talk to somebody today and i hope that you're hearing me in your heels and valleys there is a lesson to be learned there's a reason why that jesus mentions the things he mentions to his disciples that there will be those that will come and they will go and there's things that will happen in their lives and he he tries to tell his disciples and he tries to instruct them of what is going to happen in the book of acts the first chapter we find that jesus is there he has appeared several occasions 40 days there he's he's appeared to them trying to get them to understand and he tells them hey there's not many days coming and i'm going to be gone and he starts telling them that but i want you to in in acts the first chapter in verse 4 we find there that he tells them i i want you to wait for a promise everybody say wait he says i i've got a promise coming to you but i want you to wait on that here they are and they're wanting god to do a quick work right how many of you would like to see god change some things in your life and you would like to have it right now but the truth is god is saying wait here's what god has been dealing with me on and i have shared this with brother herb there is something to be said about waiting on god's move there's something to be said about terry for god to do something miraculous i i am by no means my wife was telling me under that light over there she said you look you look like an old guy because of my hair these lights do nothing great for us today i'm sorry but but i i do remember some things when i was growing up is that i remember one particular time that i literally laid underneath a piano and it was one of those and i'm glad it didn't fall but one of those baby grand pianos that was on its legs but i remember laying under one of those and i must have laid there for at least two hours i don't i don't talk a lot about stuff like this but i i think that our younger generation needs to understand this i i laid there for it must have been two hours maybe longer i don't remember but i couldn't do nothing but cry and i knew that god was doing something in me but i did not know what may i tell you that it's okay when you don't understand what's going on in the spiritual world that's okay but if you will learn to wait on him because i will tell you this when i got up that day after laying there for that period of time my life changed it changed no that i did have to go back to waiting some but my life changed because i realized at that moment that god was in control he was in control of everything you see that is one of the lessons that that waiting does is it it lets me know that i i'm not in control of anything now i know our generation teaches that we need to be in control of everything we need to make sure that this and that and it's okay to not be in control i can remember times where we would go to service brother danny you probably remember these days too but we would go to service and for some reason the preacher did not get to preach i can't explain all of that i just know that god begins to stir and all i wanted to do was try to find a place and just stay you know what the burger joints they they can wait because i wanted to wait and see what god had for me i wanted to see what word and it it may have been nothing but peace that's good enough for me it may have been that it was just a word that said said i'm with you that's good enough for me but i waited on what god was going to tell me and we would stay in those altars and sometimes i remember it was after midnight we'd have youth prayer after service after midnight we're going home and some of us had to be taken home because something inside of us was churning and we were uncontrollably crying and speaking in a heavenly language i'm just telling you what's on my heart folks i i feel a drawing from the spirit of god i feel that god is drawing us and he is looking for people i wasn't going to mention this but some weeks ago an elder in the faith made a statement and i was able to capture the statement as he said it he said he said i stood before the congregation and he says our checking account in the church looked great he said uh we had all kinds of things going on we had a bulletin that was given out of monday we were having a ladies meeting tuesday he went down the list of everything that was going on that week he looked at the bulletin and he said i stood in front of the people and held the bulletin up and he says folks we're gonna we're gonna make a decision right now and i'm gonna make it a executive decision he said you see this he said all this has been canceled he said because in my spirit god is calling his people and he says if you would sunday monday night meet me here we're gonna have prayer you say well why shut that down it's all doing good because when we get to a place that we see that we are functioning without god you're headed for a wreck folks you cannot make it without a move of god in your life you can't make it i i don't know if you understand what i'm talking about here and if you don't please don't take it the wrong way but god is calling us to a deeper walk with him he's calling us to those places that says god i i want to i want to know more about you you see the book of acts the first chapter he told them he says i don't want you to break up i don't want you to split up i don't want you to just go your separate ways he said i need you guys to stay in jerusalem because i'm getting ready to get out of here and he says i'm going to send the comforter the scripture tells us that 200 and 220 people 120 people gathered in an upper room acts 2 and these people were gathered in that upper room and they prayed and they talked about the goodness of god they talked to they did testimonies and they did things and they tarried the scripture says on that day they were all gathered in one accord in one place and they were talking about the goodness of god and the scripture says that suddenly it happened suddenly suddenly god begins to move across why because our people were they were waiting they were waiting they were saying god i don't know how you're going to do this i just know that that the word came to me and the word was spoke that every we we're going to have we're going to have a promise there's a promise that is coming i don't know how you're going to do it how many of you have been praying for some things in your life and you're asking yourself the question well i i don't know how this is going to come together i don't know how it's going to work out i don't know what you're going to do next god but i do know this that there is a promise coming this this is a place that i i don't want to lose you here i i want you to understand this is a place that we must find ourselves alone with god and say god what is it that you're wanting to do inside of me what is it that you desire from me there's lessons to be learned in waiting god you're in control god you know what's coming next and god i can't make it without you i can't do this by myself i will tell you this folks there is we can build great churches we can build great buildings we can bring all of this together and and i hope again do not take this the wrong way but that does not bring god the scripture tells us if my people which are called by my name would what humble themselves and pray seeking is not something that you just say a little prayer and get up and go on it's like god show me and you're looking through his word show me god show me what is it what is it that you got for me and then you're praying saying god i i need you to work on me seek his face repent from all those ways and say god i i surrender all you cannot i can't do it i can't make it on my grand grandmother's can't make it on my grandfather's can't make it on mom and dad i thank god for the heritage i have but but i i can't make it on that there was a day that i had to get up and i had to go to that altar and i had to get on my knees and i had to say god dads is not doing it for me anymore moms is not doing it for me anymore there's something that i need and it's going to take some waiting on the lord it's going to take some tearing and saying god i know our world is full right now of all kinds of movement we're doing this and we're doing that we're moving here we're going there and we got all of these things going and these things are pulling at us there comes a point though that you need to say okay stop i i i close myself off i stop and you get on your knees and say god what is it that i need to be doing god what is it i'm going to tell you something god is god is reaching across lines that we have drawn and he's stirring people that you never thought would be stirred god is moving in ways that you you just wouldn't if you looked at it today you would say well how in the world god's god's finding a people i don't know about you but i want to be in that number i want to be one of those that is say god's he's drawing he's drawing and i want to be a part of that number the art of waiting sitting in a room waiting on your name to be called what are you doing with that god i don't know why i'm sitting here but until you tell me to move i'm not moving you bow your heads with us right now i just feel the holy ghost in this room and i i want you to understand god can lead you into some areas right now in this place that that you will you will never you will never see this moment again i want you to understand something god is leading us into a deeper walk with him why don't you ask him right now to reveal himself to you god that you would reveal reveal to me god i i want to see exactly what brother gibson is talking about right now i i want to see that god i need i long for your presence what is it that you're telling me how many of you can say i want to wait on god what is it god that you want from me what is it that you desire from me o god what is it lord in the name of jesus right now across this room would you begin to pray would you begin to pray in the name of jesus just for a few moments if you would just take a few moments i i guarantee you it will change your life say i'm not getting in a hurry for anything right now god i'm not i'm not trying to rush things out i want to wait on you god i want to wait on you lord what is it that you're saying to me lord let me feel that in my spirit god hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah in the name of jesus in the name of jesus hallelujah open up the windows of heaven right now god god we long for you we we seek your face right now god in the name of jesus in the name of jesus hallelujah hallelujah maybe there's somebody here that needs a touch a special touch in your life maybe you need the holy ghost i i encourage you i urge you to make your way to the altar and you say god whatever it is i want it whatever whatever you're doing in my life right now i want it god i i'm not in a hurry for anything right now god i i want what you've got for me can we learn to wait on him i know it's a hard thing to do the life we're living right now i know it's hard to slow things down but sometimes you've got to slow some things down and say god speak into my life right now oh hallelujah speak into my life right now god give me god what i need for right now i see you in the name of jesus in the name of jesus speak right now god in your in each and every life god we're drawn to you right now we are drawn to you lord speak into our lives hallelujah maybe you're here today and you just don't know what to do if you will just open your mouth and just begin to worship him you'll find that he begins to feel your heart just worship him right now worship him right now god's moving yes god's moving across this place in the name of jesus i need a touch in my life god i need a touch right now god i ask for you to reach to hell right now lord that empty spot that is there lord that you will begin to feel that the scripture said that when the day of pentecost was fully come they were all in one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind and it filled the house where they were sitting there appeared unto them clothing tongues like as a fire and it set up on each of them and they were all filled with the holy ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance when we get to the place that we say god i surrender all and i'm not waiting i'm not waiting on the the restaurants to open i'm not waiting on those to i want to be in your presence god i'm going to stay right here until you do a work in me wait on the lord be of good courage and god's going to strengthen you you need strength today wait on the lord why don't you stand with us right now would you stand with us those of you that and i would like if you would would each and every one of you join me around the front because this right here this has been prayed over folks this is hollow ground and the sooner we learn about what we do in hollow ground the better off we're going to be in our walk with god god i'm standing here in your presence why don't you lift your hands with us i'm standing here in your presence and i ask you lord that you would fill my soul with the joy and peace that only comes from you god that that peace that passeth all understanding i ask for you to restore to me those things the enemy has taken yes see he can't get in here right now restore to us god what the enemy has done to us our minds our hearts i know you hear it from us all the time but this world is not what we're living for and the closer we get to him the more we'll understand about that place he's got waiting on us god i need you to take control over the situations in my life god i need you i need you to show up and just really really speak speak into my life oh god if it's appropriate would you lean over to someone just lay your hand on them let's pray together help us god to learn the art of waiting help us god i wait on you lord jesus what is it you have for me lord what is it that that is coming next god what is it that you need me need out of me lord jesus god i'm willing whatever it is some of you understand right now the power of waiting some of you quite hadn't got it i understand that but i want you to know this that if you will learn to wait on him there'll be strength to do things that you've never done before there is there is a power that will come that you you just can't explain in the name of jesus come on cry out to him right now in the name of jesus god i wait on you i wait on you lord i know god you have a plan for my life i know you have a plan for my life i want to be found in your will oh god jesus hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah oh yes lord yes lord in the name of jesus in the name of jesus that's it that's it i know you're waiting on what's next just terry for just a few moments jesus jesus hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah he's speaking peace to some of you right now you've been in turmoil there's been all kinds of stuff going on he's speaking peace right now why because you're waiting on it god i'm waiting on you yes hallelujah hallelujah in the name of jesus in the name of jesus hallelujah hallelujah holy holy holy holy holy holy thank you jesus i thank you lord for your word today thank you lord for reminding me god you have everything in control and i am not in control god i understand that there will be times that i have to wait god that i learned to wait patiently that i work toward whatever it is that you have for me god i thank you for each and everyone that is here today i thank you lord i thank you for those that are online watching asking god that you would reach into their lives right now speak peace in the midst of turmoil in their lives give you praise god for everything that i have everything that you have provided i thank you for it ask god as we leave this room today that we'll understand that there are times that we need to wait on you god help us to wait on what thus saith the lord is in our life in jesus name in jesus name would you thank him again right now just thank the lord just thank him for his goodness i thank you lord i thank you for your goodness and your mercy thank you for another service god i thank you for it thank you lord for speaking into my life once again take this not lightly god thank you jesus thank you jesus god bless you today totally get this it's a very sobering thought today but something that we need to learn how many accept what the lord spoke to us today you accept that just tell him thank you once again thank you jesus thank you for your word thank you jesus hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah god bless you today it's my prayer and don't forget our shower here in a little bit god's doing great things really feel this folks god's working us into some deeper deeper places with him and if we could throw the brakes on sometime and just listen to him we'll hear his voice amen god bless you in jesus name
