Wholly Giving

and uh to join us and we're going to be closing out our lessons that we have been talking on giving and uh tonight i want to close that out with with i think probably the most important one of all which would be the base of all of this and that is holy giving and i'm not talking about h-o-l-y i'm talking about w-h-o-l-l-y so think about that we're going to be talking about holy giving and uh if you would turn in your bibles with us i want you to turn to first thessalonians and and the way that we'll use this tonight is really a little different than what we normally would be teaching you this but i think it has a lot to do with giving amen first thessalonians the fifth chapter and verse 23 first thessalonians the fifth chapter and verse 23 i want us to look at this scripture and if you would read it along with us let's look at this and the very god of peace sanctify you everybody say it holy everything and i pray god your whole spirit soul body and what be preserved that it be preserved blameless unto the lord the coming of our lord jesus christ i'm talking about everything everybody say everything so we we're we we normally would talk about body soul and spirit we talk about the spirit and we talk about the soul and and individually talk about these things but i want to just just kind of bring this into what we're discussing and that is that we have been talking about giving of ourselves how many of you uh know that the mind is a very strong thing um and i'll i'll use this because i've used it before and some of you've heard me talk about it but uh several years ago i was weed eating in a ditch and i was i was weeding some it had gotten pretty tall and and i hit something and realized it was a snake and that that he started moving around and if you know me uh snakes and i do not get along and uh i i don't care if you want to handle them you can but not me not me but uh and i i knew he had hit my leg but i didn't know that he had struck me so i felt the stinging sensation on my leg and i realized oh hey snake stinging on my leg he bit me and so i jerked my breach's leg up and looked and yeah sure enough just perfect you know those both things had hit me and i was like oh no i i started whining and carrying on like we do uh run up to the house and it was not calm i'll tell you my wife worked at a hospital there close and and she happened to be home and she called the doctor in the emergency room and she said hey dan's just been bit and we went through all and we took pictures of it the whole nine yards you know and here i am i've got a headache my leg is throbbing and it's actually swelling believe it or not it's swelling we get to the uh we get all that checked out and they look at it and find out what kind of snake it uh that's just a water snake we lived in an area that well if you lived in louisiana you understand that it's everywhere and it's just a water snake and about all you have to worry about is treating around where he bit you it may get a little infected my headache went away believe it or not i got better by the end of the day i'm fine and i i had wounds to say i've been bit by a snake so imagine that war story but you know and i say all that to say this is is is our minds is a very strong thing and we can convince ourselves of things in life whatever's going on around us again powerful message this weekend because it's had my mind going but talking about things things that happen in life the stuff that happens in life all of those things that you are we we allow to get in our heads and and a lot of times those things can allow us to uh or or hold us back from doing whatever we or we've been asked to do to do i mean it can be as far as the scripture tells us that every man has a spirit right how many you got you're breathing today you're breathing you have you have a spirit you have a soul and there is this body that aches whenever something something happens to it in all of these things you have the spirit of a man which is that that godly conscience that that god conscious that supernatural thing that happens to people when god begins to deal with an individual inside and starts moving on them to to repent of their sins those those simple things in life that god begins to try and tell us then then there's the soul of a man that soul is that that self consciousness that that that i i have the emotions i have the will i have those things that that the the the soul does but then then the body is that that is physical everything about it is physical um i i know that uh i'm tired you've been at work that's just one of those things but all of these things together god gives you those those things senses those the the smell the the way to hear those things and and i as i begin to read through this and talking about giving of ourselves you know there's many times that as the spirit moves on an individual individual god can move on you to do certain things have you ever heard the the saying that the the spirit is willing i i didn't even have to say anymore and so many times that is the truth with us we are we are really in our in our spirit says you know i i want to do something special i want to do something for the kingdom of god and then and then god begins to deal with us about things to do but then it has to come in harmony with your your soul and your body has to be a part of that i can i can have good intentions here right but if i don't do anything about it there's been a lot of things i i've solved world war before you know i mean that's just one of those things that we're capable of doing here but the real war is out there and they need somebody that can actually do something about it but it's the truth i mean when we start thinking about giving is is we have to be willing to not only just god you gave me something in my spirit you dropped the thought into my mind and in my heart to do something for the kingdom of god but it is literally coming in harmony with the soul and the body and being able to reach in that back pocket you understand what i'm talking about is there's so many things that that god wants us to be a part of this this body that god gave us body of christ when you start thinking about the whole body itself when when you think about what god has put together the bible tells us that we were fearfully and wonderfully made everything about you god gave every part everything he put it in motion he put it all there and and put it together but but how many times and you heard me say this a few weeks back how many times have we held back what god had wanted us to do because we did not come in harmony with what god was speaking to us how many times have we had good intentions and even made a note of it and said you know what i just feel in my heart how many you've ever been in a service and god lay something on your heart to do but then when you got outside the four walls have you ever noticed that sometimes it just it just goes to a dim and the reason behind that is is that that god begins to lay it upon man and he gives man the ability to make those decisions every one of us make our own decisions we i can i can make up in my mind right now that i am going to live live a godly life but if i don't get out there and take take those steps of faith and walk like a godly man that doesn't make me a godly person right i have to be willing to step out and start walking the way to salvation i have to walk toward it not something that just it doesn't just happen the same with our giving is it's not something that just happens the scripture says that that we are sanctified holy paul is saying that that every part of you needs to be sanctified everything that you do needs to be sanctified every part of your being i i can say god cleanse my mind cleanse my heart and everything that i do let let there be nothing that i touch be unclean hello good intentions usually is all right here but when i can reach out and i can do what god has asked of me laying it at the feet of jesus whatever it may be saying god i want to i want to do this unto you bring it unto you let's look at another scripture here and i think it's worthy of of us looking at let's look at philippians the fourth chapter paul's writing here philippians the 4th chapter church of philippi he writes this in verse 8 and many of you could probably quote this but if you read it with us would you read it with us finally brethren whatsoever things that are true whatsoever things that are honest whatsoever things are whatsoever things are whatsoever things that are whatsoever things that are good report if there be any virtue if there be any praise think on these things again what did i say about the the mind it's very very strong very it's powerful when you're thinking on these things though how many know that when you think on something long enough you're going to react whether it be good or bad ugly yeah you ever had that thought in your mind say i just want to rip that person's head off excuse me a minute but but you you you just you just that's just happens and then you just wanna but the more you ponder it you go into detail right and it's not long until you want to really do that that's the way the mind works and paul says this in the scripture he says youth there are things that we need to make sure we're thinking on i am i am without doubt i could say there's probably been a few times that paul says i i would like to get my hands on that individual you you can find those notes all through his writings there was times that he just really could not handle what was going on in life he was having a tough time but then you would always find him talking about what he did to the flesh there was always mentions that i i i have to reign in my flesh i have to i have to pull myself back because my flesh just really again when we think about what what paul was saying whatsoever things that are good just good report those things that are pure there is there is a meditation that is going on there there is something that is happening and so in in the spirit of giving when we talk about being being whole as as a unit as a body everything apart that we have to say god i i want you to cleanse my mind and i want to be able to do what you have asked of me there is what we call sacrificial giving a lot of times we there there are times when we want to just give that you feel it in your heart and you feel like this is what i need to do but then but then doing it sometimes is a different thing how many times have we walked in and felt the need to do something for somebody and then the more that we pondered it well did did i think that or was that something that god laid in my heart you know i i've talked myself out of many blessings and i i don't say that i really i feel i feel in my spirit that there has been times that god has laid things on my heart and i talk myself out of blessings so many times god wants to bless his people we talked about being in a position to be a blessing last week so many times we have we have been in places that god set us up for for a great miracle in our own lives and and i bypassed it because i didn't follow through with what my spirit was saying my spirit was saying it and i did not i did not really act on what god was laying on my heart god help me help me to be a blessing in return that is just what happens that is that just comes back that that's just the way god works but help me to be a blessing paul talks in in first corinthians the ninth chapter and i don't know if our media people have this one but if you've got it please put it up there first corinthians the ninth chapter verse 21 first corinthians the ninth chapter verse 21. and i want you to i want you to pay attention to what paul says here do i have somebody that can read that for me i did not print it out and my phone is not i'd sit here for a couple minutes trying to figure it out oh there it is somebody read that for me uh is that 27 let's do 27 please i i'm sorry to know notice what paul says here he says i i i keep under my body i keep control of that there again how many you would admit that that's that's a hard thing sometimes yeah that's a hard thing for us to do sometimes because sometimes that that that mind just gets the ticking and i i get i get some crazy thoughts in my head and paul says i have to back off and i have to realize i've got to keep this thing reined in i've got to keep this suppressed because if i say what i really want to say or if i do what i really want to do well some of us may end up in county jail somewhere but paul says i have to watch it because because there's times that i know what i should do and and we've we've heard that scripture he said the things that i should do i don't and and he goes on with this riddle and he keeps saying it because i think paul's trying to convince himself that there are things that he knows he should do and he tries to ring that in and ring it in and say hey look i can't do this but the scripture tells us that he said i can do all of the if i'm not careful i'll preach what's good and i'll tell folk what they need to be doing and not myself i'll lose my own salvation how many of us has been good about that is we could tell somebody how to live it but the truth is are we really whole are we sanctified every part of us is are we sanctified holy every part of us being sanctified and saying god i want to do your will i want to do what you have asked of me brethren once everything's true notable those things think on the things that is pure think on the things that we know we should be should be doing the body of christ and that that's something that we all must understand is is paul was talking about the individual parts of the body but we as a body of christ many times we we need to be doing our part as a body god i i don't want there to be anything that is impure in my body talking about the body of christ the temple of god as a group i don't want to be the sour orange i don't want to be the one that has fallen short and god's trying to bless the group and i'm not doing what i i'm supposed to be doing i hope you get what i'm talking about tonight is this this is this is being a blessing to somebody is probably the greatest gift you will ever have it'll be some of the greatest things you'll ever do is is to bless somebody else and being a part of that body and every part of it emotional side that side that says hey i can pick up a hammer giving of that side of it hey it's something that that no i may not be able to teach well but i can do my part right whatever it may be i want to do my part for the kingdom of god whole heartedly every part of me giving unto the lord giving unto the lord sanctified set aside being totally isolating that part and saying this is yours god and then in the spirit in the soul and in the body isolating and saying this belongs to you lord and then taking it as one body and saying god i want to do my part help me lord to do what is right the communication that we have with god is very important we have so many things in our world today that take and and allows man to to take some of that stuff out of it and and i i hope that you you understand what i'm saying about getting just allowing stuff to we've got ways of of allowing things and manipulating things and saying you know what that's there's there's no reason for that there's we shouldn't be doing that and and we do that to ourselves we do that to ourselves but i want god to be able to look at me one day and say you know what yeah you did that you did that and you did that and you didn't you didn't ask for any credit here's your crown and then i'm gonna turn around and i'm gonna say you know what i don't deserve that and i'm gonna give it back to it you you see all of this working together this is what i'm working for is is i want to be sanctified holy giving of my life to him whatever it may take whatever it is whether it be being in my physical whether it be in the in just the the daily mundane things we all live in that that world but just coming into the house of god and finding your place to pray no you you say well nobody around here that's good that's that place that god can really talk to you that's when you can really get somewhere in what god is trying to do in your life finding that time aside and and finding those those moments in life where i can do my part for the kingdom of god sanctify me god holy do what you do best lord and that is letting me step out of the way and sanctify my body my soul and my spirit let it be a part of what you have for me why don't you lift your hands with us with us right now and just just ask the lord to sanctify us god my body my my soul my spirit god the whole thing lord god that i can give to you freely that i can give of myself lord to you let me god be an instrument just just for you to use lord whatever it is i asked of you lord jesus that you would you would purify my mind that you would purify my soul god the flesh that i live in god that you would sanctify it as well lord god i give of my life to you whatever it is god you have asked of me in the name of jesus in the name of jesus i want you to say this with me no strings of tasks so many times and giving we always look for return we always look to see how it's going to benefit us benefit others but when you are you are sanctified and holy giving there is you bring it to the storehouse and whatever happens i've done what god has asked of me the scripture tells us that the woman that gave the might and you remember this we talked about this but she gave of of all that she had and jesus looked at his disciples and said she's given more than any of you why because she wasn't looking for anything in return she just was giving her best she was giving it unto the lord she she didn't even look to see it what the interest was she didn't look to see what the return may be this is what god wants to speak to the church is that that there there should be no strings attached none again and pastor is not going to i know he doesn't like for people to talk about him especially the way i'll talk about him no but you'll see on this wall over here there are some prints that's on that wall blueprints of a sanctuary that is going to be built and better than what we had the other day when pastor was up here and he was he was talking about those i'll just share with you what my feelings were i i noticed him and the passion that he had in showing us those and we were talking about individual things that was on those that the one that was tore down the one that was destroyed you know we he cried a mini cry on and i know there was a mini night that there was crying over that and and tore and just but when i looked at what he was doing there his faith had been lifted he was back in a position and he was talking about what god was getting ready to do for us and in my spirit i don't know about you but in the physical side i'm thinking god i don't i don't i don't know how he's keeping his keeping his i sanity how he's keeping his mind together because you know we'll build that thing back and we live in a world that is real and i know that that that was one of those things that just happens but i thought this one could be easily destroyed the same way then the spiritual man picked up and said you know what this world is not our home this right here we're gonna we're gonna do this we're gonna have church again in a facility like this and we're gonna we're gonna have people come and we're gonna have people go and we're gonna see things happen and god's gonna bless but the truth is this is not what we're really working for it's not this is gonna happen and we're gonna we're gonna see great things happen but what i want to see is i want to be sanctified holy i want to be able to to speak of what we've done but be looking somewhere else there there is coming a day you can mark it down i and i kind of feel that it's a lot closer than we think it is but there is coming a day that we're going to step into a place and he's going to look at us and he's going to look at everything that we have done and he's going to look at our lives and he's going to he's going to measure our lives accordingly and i don't know about you but i want to hear him say well done that that's that's all i want to hear and if i'm not doing what he has called me to do and i'm not doing what he has asked of me spiritually physically emotionally financially if i'm not doing what he has asked of me i can't stand before him and hear that i've done well think about it god help me help me to be doing what you've asked of me lift your hands once again would you do that in the name of jesus god i want to hear you say well done god i want to be wholeheartedly in this and i want to be giving of my life every part of it everything you have required of us everything you have asked of us god i want to be found doing your will doing what you've called us to do in the name of jesus god that you would you would work on each and every one of us work on our minds and our hearts god lord let us let us see what you're saying to the church and god i want to be doing everything i know god we give you the praise and glory for it and god when i stand before you i want to say god you you've been faithful to me in the name of jesus in the name of jesus would you say in jesus name amen amen would you give the lord a handclap of praise hallelujah hallelujah i want to hear him say well done well done amen god bless you pastor i hope that you you forgive me for saying those things but i really i know without a doubt that we have somebody that is leading us and i i want to i want to do all that i know to do i want to do my part don't you amen god bless you i want you to remember if you're giving give out give online we do have the place out in the front to give and and do that and do all you can remember also we've got special and i know they'll be running all of our all of our guest speakers that's coming up and there's a lot of things going on but we do have our prayer on sunday we'll be doing our prayer again thank you for pastor introducing that very powerful how many you feel something when we started talking about giving and talking about the power of giving that i am a firm believer that god is we're going to see things happen god is going to bless us he is
