Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
I know too much about him, and you can’t make me doubt him
- He has been given a very specific task this morning, and he says plainly they will not be taking a specific scripture text today.
- His theme is a church phrase he loves: I know too much about him and you can't make me doubt him — he came a little too late in the party to be told anything that would make him doubt him.
- The ages in the house run from 13 to the twenties, but he tells them to forget about age this morning and just have church as the body of Christ.
The God he knows: Genesis to Joshua
- He knows the God of Genesis: who created the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1, caused the flood in Genesis 7, confused the languages at Babel in Genesis 11, enabled Sarah to conceive Isaac in her old age in Genesis 21, provided a ram in place of Isaac in Genesis 22, and revealed the ladder in Jacob's dream in Genesis 28.
- He knows the God of Exodus: who spoke through the burning bush, brought ten plagues on Egypt, parted the Red Sea so Israel crossed on dry land, gave manna and quail in Exodus 16, brought water from the rock in Exodus 17, and led them by a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night in Exodus 13.
- He knows the God of Joshua: who stopped the flow of the Jordan in Joshua 3, brought Jericho's walls down in Joshua 6, and in Joshua 10 made the sun stand still and rained hailstones on the enemy.
- The same God who worked every one of those miracles is in the room today, and he is still in the miracle-working business — God is still able to fill you with the Holy Ghost and to do it again.
A generation that knew not the Lord
- He reads Judges 2 from verse 6: Joshua let the people go, and the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders that outlived him, who had seen all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel.
- Joshua the son of Nun died at 110 years old and was buried in Timnath, and all that generation were gathered unto their fathers — and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
- His amazement: how could a generation whose parents were led through the Red Sea arise and not know him — after all they had seen, all they had heard, all the services and conferences they had been to?
Scriptures: Judges 2:6-10
Disobedience first, then idols
- Before there ever arose a generation that did not know him, there was first a level of disobedience: in Judges 1, Israel was given a mandate to drive out the Canaanites.
- The mandate was not only to drive out the people, but to drive out their practices and rid themselves of their gods; the idols were built by man's hand, and somewhere the idols took the place of the real thing.
- Every generation has to rid themselves of their own idols — God desires to know you, but the question is whether you desire to know him.
Scriptures: Judges 1
The idols we build now
- We have built idols out of worship itself — out of the act of worship, the look of worship, our actions of worship; the microphone cannot become your God, nor the pulpit, the drums, the guitars, the piano and organ.
- We have built idols out of certain singers — he says it plainly: I don't want to be your idol; don't you dare put me into that category — and out of apostolic music when it becomes about being flashy and shared.
- We have built idols out of media and creativity, dumbing down the pulpit so content looks good and making light of conviction; and idols out of reputation, occupation, education, and even ministry itself.
Know him, not only about him
- His fear for this generation: that we will know all about him but we won't know him — a powerful, gifted, talented generation that can know everything and not know him; it is not good enough to keep hearing about what God did a hundred years ago.
- When you know somebody, you can pick their voice out of a crowd; he wants to know God well enough that when he whispers, he can hear his voice — and God knows his voice when he prays.
- At 2:43 in the morning he heard a sound over the baby monitor and found his son not breathing, convulsing in his bed; there was no time to call his pastor or a prayer warrior — the only thing he knew how to do was pray, and outside in the freezing cold, as he cried for God to save his baby, the breath came back in.
- His question stays with the house: who do people call if they don't know him? There is a ministry at its infant stage that is at the point of death, and a calling in the same place — save our babies — and the close is an old-fashioned repentance service: empty yourself, for God cannot fill a space already full of other things.

I'm so thankful for what I feel in the house of the Lord today. And what a great honor it is to be here with each and every one of you. Uh what a great job this music team did. They did a great job today. And uh I give them honor for all of the effort that they put forth and all of the things that they do before everybody gets to service and the things they do after everybody leaves. So I give great honor to them. You you can return to your seats for just a moment. I want to give honor to the uh pastor of this church and uh I I just I'm so honored to be here with you. I love the leadership of this church. God bless you, Pastor Carpenter. Thank you so much for letting me be here. Brother Ericson, I'm so grateful for you. You and your family. Brother Hammond, so grateful for you. You and your family as well. I've heard so much about this church uh kind of from afar and then I was able to meet some of the leadership uh of this church and I just I'm grateful for what you stand for. Grateful for who you are. Grateful for who you stand for. Also want to give honor today to the missionary, brother Rodriguez, this morning. Give great honor to you, sir. I know they always say I'm going to get in trouble if I start saying names, but I've already started. Pastor Thornton, I love you, sir. Grateful for you. And I want to give great honor to my bishop, Douglas White, my pastor, Benjamin White, this morning. If you're grateful for your pastor, you ought to give your pastor a great big hand. Well, this morning I have been giving a very uh specific task. And so what I ask of you today is that you would go with me for a little while. Is that all right? Now, I know this church loves preaching because you get some of the best preaching that you can get anywhere. I just wonder if the young people in this church love preaching. Y'all love preaching. I don't plan to be very long this morning, but I do plan on preaching just for a little bit. if you'll just go with me. We won't be taking a specific scripture text today, but I just wanna uh uh I just want to tell this church this morning and this mighty group of young people that we are living in one of the greatest times of the apostolic church. We are living in one of the most powerful uh times of the apostolic church. And God is doing something tremendous in the people and in the young people of this of this time. I heard the ages here are what is it 13 to 20 something? That's a pretty wide range of people we got here in this house. So why don't we just have church as the body of Christ? Forget about your age this morning. Forget about who how young you are or how old you are, but why don't we just have church a little bit this morning. Is that all right? I want to know where the awake people are in the house. Is that all right? Come on. If you think that's all right, you ought to shout with your voice this morning. Come on. Use your voice and shout unto God. You may be seated all across the house. I love what God is able to do and I am grateful for the Lord because he can do things that we cannot do. He is the greatest of the great. There is nobody higher than him. Nobody is above him. Nobody is beside him. We serve a great God this morning. That's a great place to say amen. Amen. And what happens is we have people over the course of life that have come up with these phrases, these interesting churchy phrases. What y'all know about churchy phrases? They say things like, "Won't he do it? Won't he will." Now, I'm from the country. That's real down south country. But one of my favorite phrases that people say is, "I know too much about him and you can't make me doubt him." I thought I'd get another amen in the house on that one. I know too much about him and you can't make me doubt him. I want to testify this morning to tell this church, I do know way too much about him. And you came a little bit too late to tell me anything that would make me doubt him. I just got to preach for a couple minutes here in this church about my God and to tell you how great he is. Uh and to tell you how powerful my God really is. Uh I know too much about him. Uh, and you can't make me doubt him. Uh, you came too late in the party uh to tell me that he's not able. Uh, how many of you know Jesus today? Come on, say, I know too much about him. Testify to your neighbor, I know too much about him. I know about the God who in the book of Genesis 1 created the whole universe. I know about the God who created the heavens and the earth. I know about the God who created all living things uh in a matter of six days. I know about the God in the book of Genesis 7 who caused the flood. I know about the God in the book of Genesis 11 uh who caused the confusion of the languages uh at the Tower of Babel. I know about Jesus today. I know about the God in the book of Genesis 21 uh that enabled Sarah to conceive Isaac uh despite her old age. I know about the God uh in the book of Genesis 22 uh who provided a ram for the sacrifice in place of Isaac for Abraham. I know about the God in the book of Genesis 28 uh who revealed a ladder reaching from heaven with angels ascending and descending in Jacob's dream. I know about the God in the book of Exodus uh that spoke to Moses uh through a burning bush, but the bush uh was not consumed. I know about the God who brought 10 plagues uh upon Egypt to deliver the Israelites from slavery. I know about God. Uh I know about him. Uh you can't make me doubt him. Uh I know about the God in the book of Exodus uh who parted the Red Sea uh to allow the Israelites uh to cross on dry land. Uh I'm going to stop there and preach for just a second. Uh if God wants you to cross it, uh you're going to cross it. Uh if God wants you to make it, uh you're going to make it. I know too much about him and you can't make me doubt him. I know about the God uh in Exodus 16 uh who gave procision the provision of mana and of quail to the Israelites uh in the middle of the wilderness. Uh I know about the God in Exodus 17 uh who caused the water to come from a rock uh at Herob. Uh, I know about the God in Exodus 13, uh, who gave Israel a pillar of cloud by day, uh, and a pillar of fire by night. Uh, how many of you know about him this morning? Oh, that's cute. If you don't know that he's the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, but how many of you really know about him? I know enough about him to make me shout. I know enough about him to make me dance. I know enough about him to make me clap my hands. I know enough about him. Come on. I just need a little help from everybody in here. Let's make a loud noise if you know about him. Let's give him a shout if you know about him. Let's give him a praiseh if you know about him. I came to preach to everybody today that our God is still in the miracle working business. Uh I know about the God uh in the book of Joshua 3 uh that stopped the flow of the Jordan River to allow Israel to cross. Uh, I know about the God in Joshua 6 uh that caused Jericho walls uh to come down after Israel marched around them and shouted. And I wonder what would happen if some young people got ready for Jericho walls to fall this week. Brother, can I get a little more monitor, please? I wonder what would happen. I wonder, just wonder what may happen if some young people made up in your mind that I know so much about God that I know he can't fail and I know that it won't fail and I know that oh yeah, I wonder what would happen if some young people made up in your mind on this day today that God was able to do anything uh he wants to do, anything he's able to do, God is still able to keep you from falling. Uh God is still able to pick your life up and turn it around. Uh God is still able to fill you with the Holy Ghost. Uh God is still able to pour out his spirit uh in the last days. Uh you came too late to tell me uh my God doesn't work miracles cuz I know a God who does. I know. I know too much about him. And uh you can't make me doubt him. You see, I know about the God in the book of Joshua 10 that caused the sun to stand still to give Israel more time to defeat their enemies. I know about the God in the book of Joshua 10 who called hailstones to rain down on the battle to defeat Israel's enemies. God throughout the course of humanity has always been demonstrating his great power, his great miracles, his great signs uh and his great wonders for God's people. And I tell you today that those things are available to you. Uh the fire of the Holy Ghost uh is available to you. I'm going to preach right here for just a little bit till it breaks. Uh the fire of the Holy Ghost uh is available to you. The fire of the spirit of God is available to you. The gifts and the callings of God are available to you. The miracles, signs, and wonders uh are available to you. Uh and I've got news for you. Uh I know too much about him. Uh and you can't make me doubt him. God has established his power. God has established his miracles. Uh God has established his church. Uh and he's able to do it again. I read you about Israel. I read you about what Israel knew about him. Israel knew that God was a healer. Israel knew that God was a savior. Israel knew that God was able. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be brought out of slavery? I'm guessing not. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be brought out of slavery to cross through on dry land where there was no dry land? Can you imagine what it must have been like uh to be brought out of chains uh and for God to do things that nobody in this world had ever seen done before? Can you imagine being the one that God would pour his spirit out on? Uh to show this world his miracle, signs, and wonders. Uh I want to preach to this church today to tell you that God is still able to do it and he's going to do it again. And if he did it in the Bible, he's able to do it again. If he did it in his word, he's able to do it again. Uh I believe what the book says. Uh and the book says that he can part the sea. So in your life, uh if you're dealing with slavery, if you're dealing with issues, uh if you're dealing with a a sea that you can't cross, uh there is a God uh that will split the sea for you. There is a God uh who will pick you up and carry you through. Uh there is a God uh who is well aable uh there. Oh, you ought to just shout right there. Come on. I know it's a morning service, but somebody ought to just wave your hands right there and say, "I know a God. I know about him. I know too much about him. And you you can't make me doubt him. You see, the same God that worked every miracle that I just preached about is here in this room with us today. That same God was here during the worship service. That same God was here last night. That same God has been here through every prayer meeting. That same God has been in your worship uh because he abides in the praises of his people. That same God is able and that same God is here today. But I've got to preach to this church something this morning. And I've got to tell you about something that's going on. I've got to preach to us today to bring our mind to the forefront of something. We've got to think about what happened uh in the book of Judges chapter 2. I'm about to go into some scriptures. I want you to stay with me here and I want you to hear what what what what the Lord has to say. And the Bible says this, Judges 2 and 6. And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went from every man unto his inheritance, possessing the land, and the people that served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel. Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died and being 110 years old and they buried him in the border of his inheritance. And one of the Bible scholars can say this better than me in Timnath in the mount of Ephraim in the north side of the hill of Gash. And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers. And there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done in Israel. If I could please preach to you, my heartbeat this morning. I know too much about him. You can hold the other the other stuff for me for a while. Media, just go with me here for a little while, church. I have wondered. I have been so amazed. And I read this scripture and I was so so so amazed by what I was reading. How how is this type of thing possible? How could there ever arise a generation that knew not God? What am I telling you? I'm telling you there rose a generation of Israelites that knew not God. Yeah, they were Israelites, but they did not know who he was. How could a generation that had seen all of the miracles? How could a generation that had seen all the signs? How could a generation that had seen the wonders, whose parents were the ones that were led through the Red Sea, How could a generation who had heard about the miracles that God had worked in the years past uh arise and not know who he is? Uh how could a generation uh not know after all that they had seen after all that they had heard? After all that they knew about, after all of the services they went to, how could a generation not know him? How could a generation not know him after all of the conferences that they had been to? How could a generation not know him? I fear, church, if you'll just let me preach my heart to you this morning. I love what God is doing in the midst of every young person. I love the gifts and the callings that God is pouring out on us. Uh I love the miracles, the signs and the wonders. Uh I love the prophetic that God speaks. Uh but I fear I have a fear. I have a fear today. I have a fear today for you. I have a fear for this generation. I need you to feel my heart this morning. Now I have a fear for this generation that we will know all about him but we won't know him. We have to understand church that we are not living in a time where knowing about him is good enough anymore. I don't want to keep hearing about what they saw a hundred years ago. Oh God, help me in the Holy Ghost. Now I'm done hearing about what God did 200 years ago, a thousand n I'm grateful for it. Don't get me wrong, but I want to hear about what God is doing right now in the midst of his people. It is not good enough for us to know about him. It is not good enough for us to just know about what he did for the Israelites. Uh it's not good enough uh for us to know just about what God did for our pastor. I believe there's a place for a testimony. I believe there's a place for speaking about what God did. But I'm not satisfied. There arose arose a generation. This generation is more powerful than we've ever been before. This generation, oh help me, Holy Ghost, has got more talent than we've ever had before. Uh-oh. Since I'm a musician and a singer, I'm just going to go ahead and say it. I'm going to just preach raw today. Is that all right? Shoot at me if you want to, but I got to reach us today. Okay. We've got more talented musicians and singers than we ever have. We got more talented creatives than we've ever had before. We've got more talented preachers than we ever had before. And this generation is rising. There is a generation that is arising just like the word said. And there arose a generation. But I fear church. I fear that in this day that all we will do is we will know about him but we will not get a grip on who he really is. I fear today that there is arising a generation, a powerful generation, a gifted generation, a talented generation, a generation that knows about all the tech in the world. A generation that is smarter than any generation that has ever lived. Uh but I fear church uh that we can know everything and not know him. How how is it possible? How is it possible to eat the mana and the quail and to tell somebody about it and for them to walk away? It is not the will of God that any young person in this house make the decision to walk away from God. It is not the will of God that any young person in this room would make the decision after youth camp to go home and backslide. I'm preaching for your soul today. I didn't come to be your favorite preacher, but I'm preaching for your soul today. It is not the will of God for you to leave these camps the same way that you came in here. It's not the will of God for you to come and say, "Man, the everything was great. It sounded great. It looked great. It was great. I hung out with my friends. I had a good time." But your soul be lost. Uh but your soul not find God. But your soul not be right with God. Uh hear me today, church. Uh we've got to change how it's been. Uh we've got to change, church. Uh there's got to be a young person that says, "I want to know you. I've got to know you. If I'm ever going to make it, I have to know who he is. We will not see the greatest miracles that God has for the church until we know who he is. Can I get a little bit more monitor, please? We will not be able to see, we will not be able to know him if if we don't make it a point to know him. I know this is simple, but at some point in time in your life, you will be faced with a challenge and you will be faced with a moment where the only thing you can do is depend on him. The only thing you can do is call out to him. The only thing you can do, the only thing you'll be able to do is call out to Jesus. But my question for you today is, who do you call on if you don't know him? Are you going to call mom and say, "Mom, you got to pray." You going to call dad and say, "Dad, you got to pray." Who you going to call if you don't know him? I know I'm preaching to apostolic young people. You know the doctrine. I know I'm preaching to apostolic young people who know how to carry your Bible just right, who know how to walk into the church just right, who knows how to do the good old Pentecostal hairdos. Who knows how to put on a suit and wear it better than anybody else can. I know that I'm preaching to apostolic that walk into churches and you know just the right time to say amen. And you know just the right time to say oh me. I know I'm preaching to apostolics uh that should know all of this, but I fear I fear that there is arising a generation that just knows about him but doesn't know him. How how could this happen? How could this take place? You want to know how? Because the Israelites did something in Judges one before any of these things ever happened. Judges 2, there's a generation that arose that didn't know him. But in Judges 1, the Israelites were given an account and they were given a mandate to drive out the Canaanites. Oh, why is this important? You've got to understand that before there ever arose a generation that did not know him, there was first a certain level of disobedience. And God told them to drive out the Canaanites. But not just drive out the Canaanites, but God told them to drive them out, to drive out their practices, and to rid themselves of their idols. They built idols and they built it idols because they did not know who he was. And the Canaanites were idol worshippers. Somewhere the idols took place of the real thing. Somewhere the idols that were built, they took place of the real thing. Idols were built by man's hand. Idols were created and worshiped. And God told them, "Don't just drive out the people, but you've got to drive out their practices." Uh, and you've got to drive out their gods. Uh, can I preach to us for just a little bit? Uh, we've got to be careful in this day that we don't build idols out of something that God meant for good or we don't build idols out of something that meant God meant to be holy. We've got to be careful that we don't build idols where they don't belong. I fear, oh help me, Holy Ghost. I fear that we have built idols out of worship. We have made idols. Oh, help me Holy Ghost. Today we have built idols out of worship. We have built idols out of the act of worship. We have built idols uh out of the look of worship. Uh we have built idols uh out of our actions of worship. Uh we have built idols out of the very things that was supposed to belong to God. But we made it belong to us. Worship was never meant for us. Worship was meant for him. I love that you can sing. I love that you can play. I love that you can do it. I love that you're talented. I love that you're gifted or that you're gifted, but it was never meant for you. We have to be careful that we don't become guilty. Oh, come on. We got the best instruments. We've got the best drums. We've got the best guitars. We've got the best microphones. We've got the best singers. But what's happened in the generation when we've made idols? God, I love you so much. I love you young people so much. I love the potential that we have. But the microphone cannot become your God. I love the pull pit, but the pull pit cannot become your God. I love the drums, but hear me in the Holy Ghost. The drums cannot become your God. I love the guitars, but the guitars cannot become your God. I love the piano and the organ, but it can't become your God. We built idols. Oh, we've built idols. We built idols out of certain singers. I'm going to preach it because I I I hate to say it, but I'm going to preach it. I don't want to be your idol. I'm not trying to be your idol. I don't want to Oh, yeah. You may love me and I love you back, but I'm not trying to be your idol. Don't you dare put me into that category. Don't you dare worship me. Don't you love what God is doing. Oh, God. I'm going to go ahead and do it today. I love apostolic music. I love where apostolic music is headed. But if you create an idol out of apostolic music, you're dead wrong. If you create an idol, oh help us, Holy Ghost. If you will create an idol out of all the things that are happening because it's flashy and because it's wonderful and because people think it's great and because people think it's awesome. Oh, please don't get me wrong. We love the Lord. We cherish the Lord. We pray. We fast. Uh we write songs that are biblically based. We do all of these things. Uh but we've got to be careful. We got to be careful that our talents don't become our idols. We got to be careful. And I love the video teams and I love the media teams and I love what everybody is doing. You guys are awesome. Some of you have taught me some of the stuff that I know today. But we got to be careful that our creativity doesn't become our idol. We got to be careful that it becomes less about how awesome we can make content look. See Here's what happens is sometimes we get in this mindset that the content has to look good and has to sound good. But we forget about the actual content that's being posted. This is just at large. This is not here at this church. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. I just I I have to tell us that we have to be careful. We have to be careful because what's happening with some of our content these days, shoot at me if you want to, but we're we're we're dumbing down this pull pit. We're dumbing down the preaching. We're dumbing down the way it looks to people on the outside because we want our content to look good and we want everybody to share our content. So, we make fun of the pullpit and we make fun of the preacher and we make fun of the message and we make light of conviction. It's done, church. We can't make light of conviction anymore. We can't make light of the preach word of God anymore. Where is the reverence? Uh, where is the reverence for the word of God? Where is the reverence for the pullpit anymore? Where is the reverence? Where is the reference again for the preached word of God? We've made idols out of how good we can make everything look. Help us, God. We made an idol out of it. And I know your media team is good. I know your creatives can make graphics. But don't you dare make an idol out of those things that won't matter in 10 years. Uh there'll be another social media platform. There'll be another thing that they make. Uh there'll be another thing that they do. Uh it's temporal, but we've got to get back and say, "I know him." You can know the greatest settings that you can use for a camera. You can know how to explain, how to get the best footage. You can know how to do all these things. But my question is, can you teach somebody a Bible study? Can you go to somebody and say, "Here's what the Lord said." Can you get on your phone and text somebody and say, "Hey, bro. The Lord's been dealing with me about you. Uh, can I teach you a Bible study? We've made an idol out of our reputation." Oh, help me, Holy Ghost. We've made an idol about of our occupation. We've even made an idol about our education. Some of us have made idols out of our own ministry. But I fear that there is a day coming if we are not careful where we will shout about stories about a god that we don't know. We'll dance to songs about a god that we don't know. We'll sing verses about a God that we don't know. We'll invite people to come encounter a God that we don't know. Young person, I am reaching for you today. The kingdom needs you. But more than any of these things, you've got to know him. We live in a kingdom under a king that we don't know. We serve a savior that we don't know. Every generation has to rid themselves of their own idols. And God desires to know you. But my question is for you today, do you desire to know him? No doubt this generation knows about God. This generation knows all about God. We go to some of the most powerful meetings, listen to some of the greatest preachers. This generation knows all about him. But I fear, and I'm not talking about I'm not talking about the the the fear that comes from the enemy. God's always going to have a church. God's always going to have a church. But what I fear is that some of you won't be in it. The church will always go forward. The word of God will always go forward. Oh, help me Jesus. Why am I preaching what I'm preaching this morning to you? I'm preaching because I sat on pews just like you. I went to camps just like you. I listen to powerful preaching just like you. And I made some of the worst mistakes of my life. Yeah. Because I shouted about a God that I did not know. I played drums for a God that I didn't really know. We have this thing that's been happening where it has become we've become so social media driven and what we do I'm just going to go ahead and say it this morning and I say this with love. I say this in the Holy Ghost but if you're practicing just so you can post a video online. So everybody can see you play. So everybody can see you do your thing. We're doing it for the wrong reasons. We're not doing it for him. I'm sorry that I'm hitting on the musicians and singers so bad today, but you got to hear me in the Holy Ghost. We're dying slowly. We're dying. Whatever happened to the Davids in the field that would just play for the sheep? Whatever happened to the David in the field that dealt with the stink of the sheep and dealt with the heat of the day and didn't care who else was around to hear, didn't care who else saw it, whatever happened to David. We've got to have a generation that says, "God, in my time, I'll hide behind a wall. I'll hide behind anything, but I just want to do this for you. I'll sing without a mic. Oh, I'll sing without a mic in the corner of my room if I have to, but I've got to know you. I'll play all by myself, but I've got to know you because I got to tell you just about me. I can't speak for anybody else, but I can't do anything outside of knowing him. I can't market good enough. I can't sing good enough. I definitely can't preach good enough. I can't lead good enough. I can't play good enough. But all I've got, all I've got is knowing him. I don't have a pedigree. I don't have a last name. I wasn't born into a preacher's family. I I I don't have anything to my name. I got nothing going for me other than him. I've got nothing going for me other than a God who cared enough to pick me up. out of drunken stoupers when I didn't deserve it. I've got a God that cared about me enough to take me out of violence when I didn't deserve it. I've got a God that cared upon me enough to save me from myself. I've got a God who reached down to pick me up when I did not deserve it. I know a God What happens so many times is when we get lonely, we fill up our space with so much noise. We try to distract our minds. We try to distract ourselves because we want things to happen and we don't want to deal with the real issue. Have you ever thought to yourself that God is taking you through a season of loneliness, young person, so that you can draw close to him? So that you can get to know him? So that you can draw to him? But instead we reach for relationships. Uh instead we reach for social media. Instead we reach for a hobby. Instead we do all these things uh to replace him. And God is saying, "Come, come to me. I desire to know you. Come to me. I've been waiting for you. Come to me. I want to know you." But do you want to know him? Sometimes God will take things out of your life so that you can know him better. Sometimes God will take people out of your life so that you can know him better. If you want great anointing, you're going to have to pay a great price. And you're going to have to know him. There are no substitutes. There are no substitutes. If you're going to have great anointing, you must pay a great price. If God is going to use you in great ways, you must pay a great price. I'm not just satisfied with existing. I want to know him. I don't just desire the gifts. I desire to know him. I don't just desire to put together something that makes sense and preach it. I desire to know him. If you don't get anything else out of what I'm saying to you this morning, there's got to be a desire that comes back to this generation that says without a cell phone, without drumsticks, without pianos, guitars, without my friends, I desire to know him. It's it's interesting that when you know somebody, you can stand in a crowd full of people and if they come into the room and they talk, you can notice their voice. Isn't it wild how there's times where you can almost think what your best friend is thinking before they ever say it? Isn't it interesting how sometimes the people that you talk to the most, you almost finish their sentences. Some of you are sitting by that person today. You do it all the time. You want to know why? It's because you know them. But we ask ourselves questions like, "God, what are you saying?" Could you imagine that he's been speaking this whole time to you, but you've been drowning it out with the noise of something else. There is so much chaos going on that we cannot hear his voice. It's covered up by the roar. the roar of expectations of other people, the roar of what you're going to be and who you're going to be. But I want to know him well enough that when he whispers, I can hear his voice. I want to know him well enough that when he walks into the room and he says anything, it's almost as if he's sitting right next to me and I can hear him loud and clear. I want to know him. I want to know his voice. But I also need him to know my voice. So that when I pray, he says, "There he is again. I hear him calling for me. I hear him praying again. I hear him fasting again." We can blame everybody else all we want to, but if we don't know God, it is out of our choice. Is out of our own decisions. The children of Israel knew the miracles that God performed. But somewhere along the lines of taking in what outside world, the outside world said, the cultures of people that weren't the church, taking in and ingesting those things, eating the food from the Canaanites, living off of what the Canaanites ate, and partaking of a culture that didn't belong in their community. They didn't know who God was. In this day, the culture of our outside world is trying their best to push themselves in and infiltrate your mind, infiltrate your thought process, infiltrate what beauty is. I'm going to go ahead and say it. You don't have to do what the world does to feel beautiful or think you're beautiful. That's a lie from the pits of hell. That's something that wants you to doll yourself up and make yourself look like something that you're not. And young men, you don't have to let down on anything for somebody to be interested in you. Oh, I'm preaching against it now. You don't have to do anything and cross lines with anybody anywhere at any time just so that they'll be interested in you. You will make a a mistake you'll never be able to come back from. And young lady, you get what you invite. You better be careful at what you're putting out there and how you're presenting yourself because you're going to get what you invite. We've got to be careful, church, that we know him well enough that it does not pain us to dress holy. It does not pain us to act holy. It does not pain us to get into his word. I I had a situation happen. It was quite a few months ago and I'm going to be absolutely transparent today. I had a situation happen to me that I absolutely was not prepared for. I was not prepared. I Well, I was prepared. I just didn't know I was in that moment. There's coming a day when things will happen in your life and you're not going to know what else to do. You're just going to go off of what you know. In a car crash, you don't have time to make a decision. When tragedy strikes, you normally don't have time to make a decision. You just go off of what you know. Would you mind playing that clip for me? Oh, my baby. You save my baby. You save my baby. Is he breathing right now, babe? Yes. It's It's a kind of labor. kind of gasping, but his his arms are hanging. His eyes areus. No, no, no, no. He's kind of crying now. He's kind of crying now. It's like You may not understand what that was, but at about 2:43 in the morning, I was sleeping in my bed and I heard this sound over the baby monitor and something wasn't right. And I got out of my bed and I ran to my son's room. And when I did, he wasn't breathing. He was convulsing in his bed. And I didn't have time to call my pastor. I didn't have time to call the prayer warrior in the church. I picked him up out of his bed as he laid limp in my arms and I watched and I looked at him helplessly and I said, "God, what do I do?" I rolled him on his side. I spin him over backwards. And the only thing I knew how to do, I just knew how to pray. I didn't have anything else. I didn't know what else to do. I was discombobulated. It's 2:00 in the morning. I was just sleeping and my baby lays limp on my bed and I see him and I say, "God, you got to save my baby." And what you hear, that's our our little ring system at the front door. Because I heard a small whisper say, "Go outside." It was freezing outside, but I heard a whisper say, "Just take him and go outside." So, I pick my baby up and I run out the front door. And that's what you hear when I get out the front door and I say, "God, you got to save my baby. God, you got to save my child." And I watched as my baby laid limp for the next few moments. But then something changed where he started He took a deep breath in. And when that breath came back in, I continued to pray. And I watched that night as God saved my son from a tragedy. God saved me from being a dad who lost his baby that night. And after it was all said and done the next morning, I looked at my wife and I said, "Babe, who do people call? If they don't know him, who do they talk to if they don't know him?" I fear that there is a ministry that is at its infant stage. There is a ministry that is just a toddler that is about to die. Come on. There is a calling that is at its infant stages today that is at the point of death. And God sent a preacher here to you today to say, "Save our babies. Save them." You got to help them before they make the biggest mistake of their life. Before they make shipwreck of their life, before they ruin their future, save them. I'm trying today. I'm trying to reach for you today. I'm trying to reach past what you normally do. And I'm pulling for you today. I'm pulling for somebody. I'm I'm I'm not even going to invite the musicians up this morning because we going to get this thing raw today. I need you to hear me. I'm pulling for somebody that needs to say, "God, past all of the regular things that we do, past all of the regular things that we are, I just want to know you." There are some of you that should have already crawled out of your seat to this altar because you already know. You already know that I've been preaching to you today. I'm pulling for you today. I'm pulling for you. Quit waiting for somebody else to walk up here for you. Quit waiting for the next person to come up here. Quit looking across the aisle because it's not about them today. It's about you. There ought to be a cry in this house. Forgive me, God for replacing my skills with you or for replacing you with my skills. Forgive me, God, for replacing you with my wants. Forgive me, God, for replacing you with my desires. Come on, make your way. Squeeze up in here. Come on, find you a place to kneel. I don't care if you got to spread out across this room. You got to find yourself a place and say, "God, I have to know you. You won't be able to find him anywhere else besides prayer. You're not going to be able to know him anywhere else beside finding a place to really pray. Come on, quit looking around waiting for somebody else to do it for you. When tragedy hits, you're only going to have him. But my question is, will you know him enough to speak to him? Will your voice be familiar to him when you cry out to him in need of a miracle? There's a day coming. There's a day coming. God. Come on. God's looking for hungry people. You got to use your voice today and talk to him. God wants to hear from you. God wants to hear your voice today. God wants to hear your cry today. Come on. You've been here before. You know exactly what to do. But we're going past that place today. Come on. I'm preaching to all the cool kids today. I'm preaching to all the popular people today. I'm preaching to the people that nobody knows you yet. I'm preaching to the people nobody knows your name. I'm reaching for you today. It's not even about me. It's about your soul. It's about who you're going to become. You've got to know him. Come on. You've got to get serious today. You've got to get serious today. No more motions. Quit going through the motions. Come on. You got to get serious today. You got to get real with him today. He wants to get real with you. Come on. I hope you heard my heart today more than you heard my words. I hope you heard the spirit of God today. Come on. Come on. Pray for just a little bit. God, I want to know you. God, I've got to know you. I feel this in the Holy Ghost. I think there's a break that needs to happen in this room right now. I feel there's a break that needs to happen in this room right now. God cannot fill any space where there are already bunches of other things. We ask God to fill us all the time. And we say, "Fill me, God. Fill me with your spirit. Fill me with your anointing." We do all these things. But before God can ever truly fill us with everything that he has for us, we must first empty ourselves. The facade cannot stand today. And there is some unrepented sin in this house. There's some unrepented sin in this house. And if we entertain those things, we'll never know him the way we should know him. I know you're young, but the world is throwing stuff in your face every day, a lot worse than what I'm preaching right now. That's right. The world wants you to think that it's okay. So, what we're going to do for the next few moments, we're going to have a oldfashioned repentance service. And we are all going to repent. You know what you need to repent about. I'm not in your phones. I'm not in your relationships. As a matter of fact, I don't hardly know any of you. But I do know that there's some unrepentant sin that we need to get taken care of this morning. We heard a powerful word last night. We heard a direct word this morning. But before the rest of this week happens, we're gonna clean house because we can't shout on dirty floors. We got to clean it up. We got to clean it up. So, for the next about five minutes, I don't care if you kneel. I don't care what you do, where you go, how to do it, but we need to have a old-fashioned repentance service. The atmosphere is getting ready to shift in this room once we get this taken care of. You ought to lift your voice up. You ought to pray in the Holy Ghost and say, "Forgive me, God." And not just say, "Forgive me." But there's got to be a turning away. Come on. There's a turning point coming to this room right now. There's a turning point coming to this camp right now. Come on. Somebody is about to come out of this thing. Somebody's about to come out of your sin. Come on. Forgive me, God. Forgive me, Jesus. Forgive me, Jesus. I'm sorry, Lord. Come on. Come on. Really talk to him. Come on. Something should come over you. Something should come over your mind. Something should come over your soul. Come on. Really pray. I'm going to push us just for a little bit. Come on. Come on. Don't just stand around and look at everybody else. Come on. Get serious with God this morning. It's time to dig, church. It's time to dig this morning. We're getting out of the shallows. We're getting out of the shallows. Empty me, God. Empty me of me. Empty me of sin. Empty me of iniquity. Empty me of sin. Empty me of pride. Empty me. Come on. That's it. Come on. I hear that cry coming out. Come on. I hear that cry. I hear that cry rising in the room. Come on. Come on. I'm going push it just a little bit. Come on. Reach into your heart. Reach into the depths of your soul. Reach in and pull out the issues. Reach in and pull out the Come on. Come on. Reach in. Oh yeah. Come on. Press just a little bit. Press just a little bit. Press just a little bit in the name of Jesus. Let there be purity in this house. Let there be a purification from the right side to the left side. Declutter, God, this atmosphere. Declutter the minds of your people. Declutter the hearts of the young people. I pray that you would remove all confusion. That you would remove every conf Oh yeah. Come on. That's it. God shifting it right now. Come on. He's listening for you. He's listening for you. He's listening for you. His ears are open this morning. He's calling for you. Are your ears open to him? He's calling for you. He's calling for you. Come on, find you somebody to pray with. That's all right. Find you somebody to pray with. Let's bind together. Let's bind together for the next few minutes. Come on. Don't let your prayer die. Just bind in with somebody. God everybody else. Come on, young man. Today is the beginning of the rest of your life. Come on, young man. Come on, young man. Today is the beginning of the rest of your calling. Come on, young lady. God is about to reveal himself in a new way to you. Come on. God is going to do it. I feel it happening. Come on. Press this morning. Press this morning. Press this morning.
