The Nature of the Gifts of the Spirit

Turn with me to the book of 1st Peter chapter 4. We'll begin at verse number 8 first Peter chapter 4 verse number 8 When you have it say man Bible says and above all things Have fervent charity among yourselves Where charity shall cover the multitude of sins Use hospitality one to another without grudging As every man hath received the gift Even so minister the same one to another As good stewards of the manifold grace of God go back with me to verse number eight and above all things Have fervent charity Have fervent charity for charity shall cover a multitude of sins I want to preach to you tonight on this subject the nature of the gifts of the Spirit I feel So strongly tonight that the Lord wants to release something in this body. I I have prayed that God would just expand us tonight and

I have come so burdened That before this service is over That there would be healing like we have not seen in a long time Mental emotional physical whatever it may be I feel like before we're done here If we will allow the work of the Lord to do what it desires to do that we will see The supernatural in a way that we have not seen it tonight If you believe that and if you're hungry for that I'm asking for you to link up with the person next to you as it's appropriate Take that hand and lift it under heaven And I'm asking you to pray that God would work through you to do something tonight That he has not done before Lord, I love you. I thank you for your word Let revelation flow tonight God. I don't feel adequate to deliver what you have asked of me to deliver, but I

Trust that I have heard from you Pull it out as you have put it in Lord loose love in this house like we have never experienced before I Pray that it would reach to every corner of this building I Pray God that you would find people that feel obsolete overlooked Unfit and you would minister to them in a way that I have not seen an Ear have not heard Ignite something in the body of Christ tonight. We ask it all in the wonderful wonderful name of Jesus a Man a man one more time before you're seated. Why don't you clap your hands and just tell the Lord you're loving I? Love you Jesus a man. You may be seated in Jesus name About a year ago almost to the date I was Hunting in Arkansas let all the hunters say a man And I was headed to the deer woods with my dad and my uncle Mark

And whenever I can get those two alone I try to prod them and ask them questions sometimes against their will and I Asked a question. I said Why is it that we're not seeing the gifts of the Spirit in full operation like I feel like God wants to do it And my uncle said something that night that Came back to me last week as the Lord began to give me what I'm gonna try to preach to you tonight He said because we want the gifts to operate by power authority and faith But in all reality Dylan the gifts of the Spirit flow from one place, and that's love And I remember hearing that and it resonated with me and it just kind of fizzled out I guess you could say until last week and I was sitting in my place of devotion and I was reading 1st Peter chapter 4 and

I begin to read above all things have fervent Charity That word charity as you many of you know is love. It's that Agape love It's the love that the Apostle Paul after he gets done talking about the operation of the gifts of the Spirit He says it's all noise Unless there is charity As a matter of fact if you open your Bible to 1st Corinthians chapter 14 and verse number one he commands us to follow charity and Desire the gifts of the Spirit. I Find it interesting that when he tells us to follow something that it's not Anything other than charity Follow love That word follow simply means a passionate pursuit We know that these signs shall follow them that The believers have signs following them, but the believer must not follow the signs Follow love And if you follow love you can desire the gifts there's nothing wrong with that

But the center of our core and our desire Must not be greater authority It must not be greater power It must not even be greater dominion We should desire and fervently pursue love Love is a very interesting topic When Jesus was asked a question of the Pharisees he looked at them When they said what's the greatest commandment? He said love God with all your heart He quoted to them the Shema give God everything in singleness of heart. You better love God But the only way you're gonna know that you love God with everything is that in like manner You love your brother I See the love of God and the love of our neighbor Almost as an infinity sign as you love God You better love your neighbor as you love your neighbor. You better love God You can't have one without the other you can't say you love God and have ought against your brother

It was it was of such importance of God that him manifested in the flesh said if you're at the altar one day And your gift is on the altar, and you know that you have ought against a brother. You better leave that gift right where it's at run to them and Make it right Because your gift is null and void as long as you have something against somebody in the body Because you can't say you love him if you don't love them and So the nature of love is something that really is beyond Human grasp that's why this love that he talks about it's not it's not a love that Westernized culture is familiar with when we think of love we think of love tied to emotion There are three Greek words for love, and I'll butcher them But I'm gonna do my best to explain them to you to you one is

Eros one is Phileo and one is Agape the first word you get is Tied the central desire the second word you get is tied to brotherly love It's in the nature of friendship, but those two are tied to emotion how you feel Love tied to emotion and feeling you'll find often fades But the Agape love that he commands us to love It's the same love that he looked at the church and he said you ought to love your wife as Christ loved the church It's a commanding love. It's an Agape love and that love has nothing to do with emotion It's a love beyond emotion It's a love beyond the way you feel When he said love God and love your brother, it's not based on how you feel that you love them It's a command. It's something that you will to do you have to wake up and make the decision

I'm gonna love them today It's not tied to emotion because the way that we serve God should not be tied to how God makes us feel We love God simply because he is the creator of the universe I Don't want to get ahead of myself because often I get a little excited and I don't ever explain my thought You've got to love Without emotion It's something you've got to make up in your mind. I'm gonna serve God Rather, I feel like it. I'm gonna come to the house of God Rather, I feel like it. I'm gonna serve the local church rather. I feel like it I'm gonna get involved rather. I feel like it. I'm gonna pray rather. I feel like it I'm gonna read my Bible rather. I feel like it. I'm gonna be committed rather. I feel like it It's beyond emotion It's beyond the emotionalism of human nature in westernized culture has made love based so much upon how we feel

That we have lost the true nature of love That is I love him in spite of my circumstance Though he slay me Yet will I trust that's a love that goes beyond the nature of humanity That's why if I could put one word to define a God they love it would be this transcendence What is transcendence? It's going beyond human nature It's going beyond who you are That's why when he commanded us to love he said it's easy to love the person that's done good under you Anybody can love that person He said but true love is loving the person that's your enemy That kind of love cannot come from human nature or flesh or carnality That kind of love comes from a spirit that transcends flesh That kind of love comes from when you come to an altar you rip pin of your sins

You're baptized in the name of Jesus and you leave in covenant that kind of love comes from a fruit That is beyond the nature of humanity that is beyond the natural man that kind of love can only come when it transcends Humanity and it begins to operate in the realms of the spirit that is beyond you and I That's why when you read something for God so love the world That he gave his only begotten son for God so Transcended eternity that he stepped into time and he became the pardon of our sin In spite of how it made him feel in spite of father remove this cup from me I don't want a drink of suffering the suffering must come because I've got to let sin be pardoned Love that goes beyond how you feel. He said I will transcend Time I will step out of eternity into time

Rope myself in flesh and I will pardon you That's love Love that goes beyond human nature love that goes beyond Understanding love that goes beyond your faults or your failures. That's love I began to look at this and I began to study it out. I found that when you read First career, I mean first Peter chapter 4 and it says above all things have fervent charity Among yourselves for charity shall cover the multitude of sins That is coming from a proverb found in Proverbs chapter 10 verse number 12. It said hatred stirreth up strife, but love Covereth all sins When you read that you have to understand that this was actually referring to cities of refuge Now what's so important about cities of refuge? When you begin to read and study about cities of refuge and you start understanding love covereth now when it's talking about

Covering sins. It's not talking about you did something and somebody covered it up and hid it for you That's that's not what it's talking about. It says love knows how to forgive Go with me for just a minute. Please don't lose me tonight. Love knows how to forgive sin And so when you begin to see that that's tied to the cities of refuge and you go back and to begin to study the cities of refuge You find that there were six cities of refuge They were all placed one day's journey from any location of the children of Israel You were always one day away from refuge This city of refuge was meant for a man who slayed somebody by accident He was called the slayer if the slayer was chopping down a tree one day and the axe head Came off of the axe handle and it accidentally struck somebody and it killed them

The next of kin to them had a right to kill you and So if the slayer couldn't make it to the city of refuge in time Before the one that was allowed to take his life could get to him Then the high priest would stand at a city of refuge and he would judge the matter my mom And he would say this is what I determined this man did it by accident It was not an intentional. It was not it was not on purpose. This was an accidental thing go with me for just a minute He said it was accidental and then you have to hear this that man was held captive in that city until the high priest died He could not leave the city of refuge until the high priest died and Once the high priest died he could go back to his homeland

That's why Jesus said it's better that I go away He Bruce says he is our great high priest and he understood if I don't go if I don't die You can't make it back to your homeland Now here's what I think the homeland is for New Testament Christians I think Christ knew that if I die you can be restored to Eden a Place of communion with God a place where God and man can walk with each other a place where we can freely Be at one in the cool of the day and he will descend down and we will walk together You see tonight's not gonna be the only time I talked to him because I'm back in Eden I'll talk to him on Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday And so he said I know what I've got to do. I've got to die so that you and I can commune beyond this present time

I'm gonna restore you back to Eden and so Christ said it's better than I go away I've got to go because if I don't go we can't freely commune and you can't be restored back to where I always Intended for you to be in the first place but watch Then because they went back if the kin was still there and remembered what the man did He could still slay him. That's why he couldn't stay in the grave Not only does he die to send you back to your homeland He resurrects so that he can become your protection Until the day of judgment my Lord have mercy He said not only am I going to restore you but I'm gonna stand in front of you and tell the accuser of the brethren You can't have them. I know they made a mistake. I know they failed

I know they fault it up, but I'm standing in the gap. You can't have I know you messed up I know you made a mistake, but I'm standing in the gap as the agent of protection This high priest had to get back up and that's why we have a high priest that can be taught Can be touched with the feeling of our infirmity So not only can we freely commune, but we're protected from the accuser of the brethren It's like a cloak of protection the high priest said you can't get to They're in the city of refuge you can't get to him Now watch here's something else I learned about the city of refuge and you can read this in the book of Deuteronomy It said that as God increases you in the land as You continue to take more territory. He said you better also add more cities of refuge

As you increase and you begin to prosper you better also add more Cities of refuge because you better always be one day's journey away from forgiveness I feel like preaching in this house right now Now watch there were six original cities of refuge and what does Christ say? You are the city set upon the hill that cannot be hid you become the seventh city of refuge You become the place of forgiveness You become the place where you let your brother go in spite of his fault and his failure you become the You're the seventh city friend and if you don't learn how to let go You're not gonna let go and so he says as you increase in the land You better add more cities of forgiveness Because there better not be a day That they are in a day's journey away from forgiveness Don't ever get so elevated out of sin

Lose the idea of what he brought you out of as God increases you in favor as God increases you in authority And everything else you better still know He brought me out And I will not Pastor Myers, it's easy Five generations removed from Egypt to forget what the taste of garlic and onions was like It's easy five generations removed from the world to forget what it was like to taste sin But I never better get so elevated I Better never get so far removed from the world that I think I'm too good to let a brother go You better never get so far from sin that you forget what he brought you out of You better never get so far removed out of the world that you forget what you used to be But thanks be to God There was a city of refuge That said I judge you and I set you free in spite of my faults in spite of my failures

Had it not been for the Lord You better hear me. I don't deserve a pulpit of platform or a microphone And I'm not gonna hold you accountable for your fault Because he set me free He delivered me he forgave me. So you better believe I'm gonna let you go I'm gonna lift your hands and worship the Lord It's just why Jesus had to have a conversation with Peter Peter do you love me Agape? Yes, Lord, I feel you you no no no Peter Do you Agape me? Yes, Lord, I feel you you No Peter No You're not getting it You've got this too tied up in your emotion and the third time he says all right Peter. Do you feel you owe me? Irritated Yes This day you've got yourself There's another day coming when somebody else is gonna urge you He was teaching him the process of maturing love

At this point your love is about you But there's coming a day he was prophesying of his crucifixion Or somebody else was gonna put him on the cross and crucify him and you can't be crucified by yourself You've got to surrender your will to be crucified He was trying to teach him you're gonna learn how to love outside of the immaturity that you're in right now You're gonna learn to love a love That is not about your will And then I read verse number nine Use hospitality one to another Without grudging I'm talking about the nature of the gifts of the spirit. So just stay with me Use hospitality that word hospitality there is just friendlies Be a friend Just just be friendly You don't want to just be friendly now watch the second part says without grudging Now that word grudging there. It's powerful

Because that word grudging says murmur So he says be friendly, but don't murmur You look at that word murmur it literally means private meetings It says don't get behind closed doors Tear people down Don't get behind closed doors and gossip and lie about your brother and your sister Don't get behind closed doors and isolate people and learn how to tear people down with your tongue Stay with me because verse number 10 and I'm gonna read this in the nlt Watch what it says in the nlt God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts Use them well Somebody say to serve One another And then verse number 11 I'll go back to the King James if any man speak let him speak as the oracles of God If any man minister let him do it as of the ability which God giveth that God in all things

May be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom praise and dominion forever and ever Amen Now when you put all of this together He says let love without emotion be fervent in the church. Oh And by the way be friendly to one another and don't go to dinner and tear a brother down I am afraid we have Paralysed the gifts of the spirit in so many Because we get behind closed doors and we start picking them apart by their human flaws Did you hear what they did? Did you hear what they said? Did you hear where they went? Did you hear this? Did you hear that? Did you hear this? Did you hear that? Did you hear? Did you hear? We gossip and we murmur and what we're doing is is we're removing their Ability to operate in the gifts that God has given them to serve one another in the body

He said I gave you a gift that you would serve the body but if I get behind a closed door and tear you down to him and You have the gift that he needs to get his miracle I have minimalized you to him and now the body can't operate and the gift is Paralysed and now we can't have the miracles that God wanted us to have I am afraid That because of differences in the body we put people in corners and we tear them down Because they don't operate like we operate think like we think and do like we do and instead of loving them And saying Christ forgave me. I'm gonna forgive them and letting the gifts operate like God wants them to operate We have minimalized the gifts of the spirit in the box You want to know when we're gonna see miracle signs and wonders?

When you let your brother go Hello charity forget about the gifts for just five minutes Get love at the center point of everything you do You get on a tight rope You lock eye to eye with love And you say i'm looking at love i'm looking at love And while you're desiring and following love the gifts will operate Because if you really love You won't care what a brother did I know I know when he said put the gift on the altar. He was talking about a sacrifice But could it be pastor miah? Lay your prophesying down for a moment Lay your ability to be used in the word of knowledge and the word of wisdom and the tongue and interpretation of tongue And the working of miracles lay on the altar for 30 seconds You know what he said? He didn't even say it was their problem or your problem with him. He said it was their problem with you read the book

Go to them Make it right Because i'm more worried about me and him Operating together in the body Because he might have a gift that I don't have god had mercy He might have something that you don't have And if we don't let him do what god's called him to do We aren't gonna have the gifts of the spirit in full operation in the body like Hear me nobody wants to see miracle signs and wonders more than this young man. No nobody nobody And I told god I said god I feel so unqualified to preach this Nobody wants to see it more than I do God's been working me over How are you going to see it when you shut up your bowels of compassion For a brother you want to know when we're going to have the release of the gifts of the spirit

It's not going to be when great faith enters the room We don't like that preach to me faith. Let me shout. How about you let god Double your heart in size How about you let love Appound and when love gets looser god, oh you Lift your hands all over the house and let the holy ghost move Come on lift your voice lift your voice Come on lift your voice I'm such a tangible presence of god in this house right now Tell you what god wants to do in this house I'm done I've preached 37 minutes Tell you what god wants to do with this house right now He wants to unlock things That have been paralyzed for too long in the body There are people in this place that have such giftings and such talents and such abilities But we have held each other captive for long enough

Stand with me everybody that's physically able would you come to this altar right now? I tell you this is about to be uncomfortable Hear me There are people in this room You know You know you've said things about no music There are people in this room. You know you have taken a part over dinner tables There are people in this room. You know you have ostracized. You know you have made fun of you know you have mocked Hear me and the holy ghost tonight. Please please fill my spirit I want to see the miraculous right now And it's here But before it can be released You've got to let your brother go This is going to get uncomfortable But I want you to go from where you're at. It doesn't matter where they're standing in this building I want you to go to the person that you know you have odd in your heart against

I know this is uncomfortable, but if you'll do it. I'm telling you god will unlock something in your spirit right now Whoever they are wherever they are lift your hands close your eyes. Nobody looking around nobody's seeing who's going to who I want you to move through this altar right now I want us to have a moment like the bible tells us to have I want us to leave the gift at the altar right now And I want us to go to our brother and I want us to go to our sister come on You need to move right now. There's young people that need to move. There's young marriage that need to move There's adults that need to move. There's elders that need to move You need to walk through this place grab them by the neck and say I love you I love you. I'm sorry that I hurt you come on

Maybe it's 20 years old and god's bringing it up right now. You need to move in this place I'm begging you and the holy ghost Allow the love of god to be released in this house lift your voices come on If I spoke the word of faith right now and told you to shout everybody in this room would do it But this is why we've got to do what god's telling us to do when we say go to your brother and ask him for forgiveness We lock up. That's not the book. You've got to go. You've got to go. You've got to go move through this place Move through this place. Come on. We need to move There are things that god's trying to unlock in you flowing the holy ghost right now This is as spiritual as anything we've ever done. Come on. Let the holy ghost minister in this place

Yallah Come on go to him Go to them and when you go You're going to pray together and god's going to unlock the gift that you've been waiting to have unlocked When you go God's going to unlock that thing within you that you've been waiting To have unlocked. Come on. Let's flow in the holy ghost right now Every voice lifted. Please nobody looking around Unless you're going to somebody your eyes are closed and you're praying in the holy ghost right now Come on. That's it. Come on. That's it. The healing bomb of gilead is being loosed in this house The healing bomb of gilead is being loosed in this house. Come on There is great forgiveness in this room right now There is great forgiveness in this room right now Come on, that's it come on. That's it God's gonna restore some marriages in this room right now.

I'm telling you, in the Holy Ghost, there's gonna be restoration to some marriages right now. Your marriage has been in turmoil for long enough. We're gonna stay here a little while longer. We got another move to this, but we're gonna stay in this zone right here for a little while longer. Come on, there's some of you that haven't moved yet and you know God is charging you. I'm telling you the Lord spoke to me on the way here and said the miracle that some of you are looking for is on the other side of forgiveness. You have sought God for healing and the reason it has not happened is because your brother is still being held captive. If you will go and loose them, God will loose the healing you've been looking for. When you feel the release in the Holy Ghost, some of you are starting to feel it.

You're feeling that bondage come off. I want you to begin to minister one to another. The gifts of the Spirit are gonna be unlocked because God's got giftings in you that have been dormant for far too long. God has got things in you that have been dormant for far too long and it cannot be released until you release your brother. But the moment you allow fervent charity to be released and you let love begin to forgive, I'm telling you. You've got giftings that's gonna serve your brother right now. Come on, begin to flow in the Holy Ghost ministry. Begin to flow in the Holy Ghost, begin to pray for one another. Come on, I'm not just talking about those that get behind microphones and those that are licensed. I mean everybody, there are giftings in the body right now that your brother needs, that your sister needs.

And we have paralyzed them within us for too long. Go to them, pray in the Holy Ghost to flow through this altar. I wonder what miracles would happen if people that have never been used would step out and lay hands on a brother and say, I just feel in the Holy Ghost to pray for you. I just feel in the Holy Ghost to minister to you. Come on, come on, come on, come on. Step out of your comfort zone. There are people that need the Holy Ghost. There are people that need miracles. There are people that have come with needs. Come on, I know this is when we wait for Brother Derek to pray for us. Or Brother Scott to pray for us. Or Brother Richie to pray for us. Or Pastor, what would happen if you turned and minister to your brother from the gift that God has given you to serve the body?

Come on, that's it, serve one another. This is what love looks like. This is what love looks like. This is what the gifts of the spirit feel like. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Serving one another. Sir, you feel that coming in here? He's sataye. You feel that moving through this house right now? Serve one another. Come on, nobody's better than the other. Come on, nobody's greater than the other. We're all sinners saved by grace. Serve one another. Ataye. Ikorashatah. Ikadorosatah. Ikataye. The gifts are flowing. The gifts are flowing. Miracles are being loosed all over this house right now. Why? You're serving your brother. You're serving your brother. You're serving your brother. I know you have your differences. I know you have your differences of opinions. But he needs your gift. Ataye. Ikorosataye. Ikanalabosatah. Isotoratah. Let love abound. Let the gifts flow. Come on, sister. Pray for another sister.

Come on, brother. Pray for another brother. Don't worry about your need right now. Don't worry about your petition right now. Serve your brother. Serve your brother. Serve your brother. Isetah. Ikatah. Itanoyasha. Come on, I'm telling you this is where it's at. This is where it's at. This is where it happens. You feel it move. Ataye. Ikalaboyalashatah. I'm telling you miracles are taking place in this room right now. There are notable things happening in this room right now. Serve your brother. Serve your brother. Serve your brother.
