Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The frame: overcome by the blood and the testimony

  • His text, designated and read at the open: 'And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony' — and John said, he notes, that you overcome by the blood first and the testimony second.
  • Because the verse joins the two, he will spend half the sermon on his own testimony; the wonder-catalogue before it (a God who can make food fall from heaven, who extended the day for Joshua and floated the axe head for Elisha) sets the sermon's question: what can this God not do?

Scriptures: Revelation 12:11

God cannot lie: the promise rests on his nature

  • 'For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen': every promise stands, because of whose promises they are.
  • 'My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips' — he adds a plainer rendering: 'I'm not going to break my covenant and I'm not going to go back on what I promised.' Spoken in the sermon as 'Psalm 189 and 34' (as spoken); no Psalm 189 exists, and the words delivered are Psalm 89:34's — the entry is settled to that locus at the gate.
  • 'God is not a man, that he should lie' — 'Moses said in number 23': for God to lie he would have to cease to be himself, and, as he glosses it, he never changes.

Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 1:20; Psalm 89:34; Numbers 23:19

His one impossibility: the anchor of hope

  • The sermon's title text: because God could swear by no greater, he swore by himself — 'surely blessing I will bless thee' — and Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise.
  • Two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie: that impossibility is God's only one, and it is the believer's strong consolation — 'which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast.'

Scriptures: Hebrews 6:13-19

Hold the promise for your family

  • His designated text for the family promise: God will contend with those who contend with you, 'and I will save thy children' — and he speaks it to the north, the south, the east and the west: bring our children home.
  • Many in the room, he says, are holding on to one verse — train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it — and he preaches to the holding-on.
  • Sister Rhonda, of his home church, has become like a spiritual grandmother to him; for 46 years she prayed for her husband, and he was in the service, about seven years ago, when the man walked through a prayer line and God filled him with the Holy Ghost.

Scriptures: Isaiah 49:25

Abraham: the promise, the flesh, and the thirteen years

  • The promise at its first giving: God shows Abraham he will be the father of many nations — and the flesh answers with Ishmael, whose birth is recorded entire: 'And Hagar bare Abram a son.'
  • Then thirteen years of silence: no word, no visitation, Abraham near a hundred and sure the deal was over.
  • 'And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect' — and the covenant renewed: 'as for me,' the deal is still on.
  • The collision of God's timing and God's promise gives birth to Isaac: 'And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.' His application rides on it: don't get weary in well doing — in due season you shall reap, if you faint not.

Scriptures: Genesis 15; Genesis 16:15-16; Genesis 17:1; Genesis 21:1-2

His testimony: Katrina, the campgrounds, and July 4, 2010

  • Hurricane Katrina left his family without power for weeks, and Pentecostal neighbors took him in — to the United Pentecostal campgrounds at Tioga, Louisiana, where he stayed nearly three weeks and was carried to church for three years, seeing people delivered off drugs, without yet receiving anything himself.
  • The church he loved went through trouble, his father died, and by college at Southeastern he was partying nightly and keeping his grades only for the scholarship — until, from March to May 2010, the presence of God kept coming into his dorm room at night as he lay down.
  • The dream, the first week of July 2010: his family, one after another, falling into fire — and God's word in it: 'if you will serve me, I promise you I will reach your family.' That Sunday, July 4, 2010, he ran to the altar and received the Holy Ghost; on August 8, 2010 he was baptized in Jesus' name, and wanted no more of the old life.

The promise kept: his family, one by one

  • He served and waited — student pastor at two and a half years, fasting every Tuesday for his family, teaching them 30 to 50 Bible studies with no breakthrough — until his mother and stepdad began slipping in unannounced; his stepdad was filled with the Holy Ghost, and the next Sunday he baptized his mother and stepdad himself.
  • Then his half-sister, baptized the very next Sunday and filled the Sunday after; his grandmother, baptized and filled; two best friends filled — and his cousin, an all-state football player destroyed by heroin and meth, who lost his children and went to prison, came to church, was taught the Bible study, and was baptized with his wife — and filled with the Holy Ghost a week later while Galloway watched over FaceTime from youth camp.
  • The close gathers the sermon back into its title: the only impossibility God has is that it is impossible for God to lie — 'you gotta believe again.'

man, apostolic man that still believe truth and he does and he embodies it. And so I love you very much and I'm so thankful that he's here. Don't you love you pastor? I was preaching this morning at a church about 30 minutes from here and I told them, as I tell young people so many times that you can't be right with the master and wrong with the pastor. I heard that from brother Huntley that there's a correlation. The healthier your relationship with the man of God's going to be, the healthier your relationship with God is going to be because God has ordained divine order and I'm thankful for my pastor. He's preaching right now. I was talking to him before service. Uh, I love and appreciate him and he has been so good to me and I would not be here without him and to my wife. I love you very much and I appreciate you and to the Walmart family who's been

so good to us as we can thank you for everything and thank you for the impact that you made on my wife's life. I heard about you guys long before I ever met you. So it was good to finally meet all of you. And it's been a treat for us to be here. You have been more of a blessing to us than we have been to you. So thank you. If you have your Bibles, I'm just going to read one verse. I've been so torn over the past couple of weeks, praying and consecrating and trying to find what I felt, what's God's will for me to preach. And I thought I knew until late last night in prayer, I could sleep. So I just kind of eased over to the side room and pray for quite a while and I finally feel like God has given me clarity. So I don't do this unless I feel direction from God to kind of give

you a backdrop of where I come from. And I do this because I want to encourage you that God can do the same thing for you. Revelation chapter 12 and verse number 11. I'm going to read one verse. Now my title is not going to make sense at first, but hopefully by the time we're finished, it will. Revelation chapter 12 and verse number 11. If you have a say amen. And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony and they love not their lives until the death. He says they overcame him talking about the enemy, Satan, Lucifer, the dragon, whatever you choose to call him. He said they overcame him by number one, by the blood of the lamb. Aren't you thankful for the blood? Come on. I know I'm in a church that still believes in the power of the blood. And he says you got to get this order right because you don't

have a testimony without the blood. The blood gives you a testimony when the children of Israel, when they went through the death of the firstborn, all those Egyptian children died and they left with a testimony of what the blood did for them for the Egyptians. But it also gave them a testimony that if you had the blood on your doorpost that your firstborn did not die and they have a testimony for that. I'm thankful that the blood has kept me for some things. And John said that you overcome the enemy number one by the blood of the lamb and by the word of there. Everybody say there. That's ours. See, your testimony blesses me and my testimony blesses you and then Pastor testimony blesses somebody else because this is our testimony because we are God's people. And so for the next few moments, I want to preach. Two simple words. Everybody say God's impossibility. Look at your neighbor and say, I thought God

didn't have an impossibility. Turn to somebody telling them they look nice and you may be seated. July the 4th, 2010 was a day that was celebrated by most Americans as the 234th annual independent state for the United States. However, that day will always be one of the great greatest days of my life, because on that day, I received the Holy Ghost for the first time. And just a few short months, I will celebrate nine years of being filled with the wonderful gift of the Holy Ghost. And those of you that are here and have received the Spirit of God, you can attest with me. And if you're not, it's God's will that you can receive it tonight. That the Spirit of God is the greatest gift that I have ever received. I heard somebody say, do you need the Holy Ghost to go to heaven to which I want to respond? I need the Holy Ghost to go to Walmart. And the Holy

Ghost is not something that we should ask, do we need it? The Holy Ghost is something that we should ask, can I have it? Because it's amazing. It's the most wonderful thing in the world. And I understand that I've only been living for God short of nine years and I'm only 28 years old. And I understand that I'm green and I'm novice and I've got so much to learn. But there's one thing that I've learned about God and that is that God is faithful. You see, some things that teaching has taught me, some things I've learned to the teaching of the Word of God and some things time has taught me. There are some things you can only learn through time, but there is one thing that both teaching and time has taught me and that is that God is faithful. God is faithful to his word and God is faithful to his promise. Does anybody here have a promise from God that

you haven't seen come to pass yet? You know, I've learned that even when I'm not faithful, God is faithful. I've learned when I don't deserve his faithfulness, he's still faithful. I've learned that even when I don't realize it, even when I take it for granted, God is faithful. You see, now that I've been living for God for a little while, the Bible is not something that I just read, but it's something that I've seen come to pass in my life. I used to only be able to read about what God had done, but now I can tell you about personally what God has done for my life and I can tell you without hesitation, a reservation that God is faithful. That if you've got a word from God or you got a promise from God and you haven't seen it come to pass, don't let the enemy lie to you. God is faithful. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians chapter one, for all

the promises of God are in him, yay, and in him, amen, understand church, this is not a verse that we cherry pick in times of desperation, this is the word of God. And when God makes a promise, the promise is sure. The Bible says that all the promises are in Jesus Christ, which means they are enclosed in eternity. Contrary to what the devil would like you to believe, time does not help nor hurt your promise. It's tied to timing, but God doesn't operate within the realm of time because he's eternal. The enemy tries to convince us that there's an expiration date on our promise, but because my promise is in Jesus, because my promise is in eternity, my promises don't have an expiration date. And I know the enemy likes to talk a big game and makes us think he's bad, but I'm telling you tonight that the enemy cannot take what God promised you because God is faithful to his promises. And

sometimes we have trouble believing our promises going to become a reality because too many times in life, people have given us empty promises. Maybe it was a relative, a friend, a family member, whoever it was, they promised us one thing, but yet it never happened. We've all been the recipient of an empty promise. But the validity of a promise is found in the source of the promise. You see, if I know that someone is a liar and they promised me something, I'm not going to believe it because I know their nature. But if my wife were to promise me something, it didn't matter how Atlantis it was, I would believe it because I know her nature is to be honest. And the only time that Jesus gave an empty promise is when he said, I promise you, I'm going to leave the grave empty. And when they walked there on that resurrection Sunday morning, just like he said, the grave was empty and

the clothes were folded because when God gives you a promise, it's sure to come in the past. And the more that you have a relationship with God and you learn the nature of Jesus Christ, you're going to learn that he's not the type of God to tell you something and not to do it. The Bible says in Psalm 189 and 34, my covenant will I not break nor am I going to alter the things that have gone out of my lips. One translation puts it like this, I'm not going to break my covenant and I'm not going to go back on what I promised. Moses said in number 23, God is not a man that he should lie. One translation says this, has God ever promised something and not carried it through? There are over 3,000 promises in the Word of God and I can assure you, not one of them have ever failed because when God makes a promise, he intends to

keep it. I need to hear the testimony of some elders that can say I'm in agreement right now, brother Drew. God promised me some things and I'm a product that when God makes a promise, he always comes through. Come on, give somebody some hope right now that maybe they haven't gotten their promise. Would you wave your hand? If you've known God to be faithful, would you wave your hand? If you know that when God says it, God's going to do it. So how we rejoice at the faithfulness of God? What could possibly be his impossibility? How can a God as great as ours even have an impossibility? How can a God that created the world who looked at an empty canvas and spoke of masterpiece into existence? As Pastor Stevenson said a while ago, how can a God that can part a red sea and transcend understanding by causing food to fall from heaven when it usually grows from the ground? How can

a God that can extend the date for Joshua and cause an axe head to float for Elisha? How can a God that can take Noah's first boat project and make it last through the worst flood in human history? How can a God that would manifest himself in flesh allow them to crucify him and place him to an open shame and then resurrect himself from the grave on the third day? How can that God have an impossibility? But I submit to you tonight that God does have an impossibility. The Bible says in Hebrews chapter six in verse number 13, he says, for when God made promise to Abraham because he gets swear by no greater, he's swear by himself. Now we are taught not to swear. But the reason we are taught not to swear is because we have the ability or the capability to lie. So God says, don't swear by yourself because you're human and you may mess up. But God says,

I'm so great, I swear when I tell you something it's gonna, and verse 14 says, surely I will bless thee and then multiply and I will multiply thee. This is talking about the promise that God made to Abraham in the Old Testament. And verse 15 said, after he sowed, talking about Abraham had patiently endured. He obtained the promise. Verse 16, for men barely swear by the greater and an oath for confirmation is to them of all strife. Verse 17, wearing God willing more abundantly to show unto him the hairs of the promise and the immutability of his counsel confirmed it by an oath. Here it is. I want you to watch it on the screen. Verse 18, that by two immutable things, it is impossible for God to lie as great as he is. If God promises you something, it's impossible for him to go back on his word. God, I've come to preach the wildest wreaths tonight and I've come to resurrect

some all promises that you've allowed the enemy to let you put them in the grave, bury them and give them a tombstone. But God sent me by here to let you know that as powerful and mighty as he is, if he gives you a word, he's gotta do it. He said this hope. And verse 19 is what we have as an anchor for the soul. If you're a fisherman, you know how important that anchor is because the wind can blow and the waves can roar. But if you've got an anchor, it keeps you in the right place. And he said, we've got an anchor that keeps us in the right place. And that anchor is, I don't know when it's coming, but I know God's gonna do it because he promised me my kids are coming back. He promised me my husband's coming back. Come on, I want somebody to go, God, to do a promise. I want you to just lift your

hands and begin to worship. Come on, all this rich, I wanna let you know that God can create the universe, but he cannot lie. He can speak to nothing and create everything, but he cannot lie. He can take dirt and build a man, but he can't lie. He can perfectly align the planets, put earth from the right distance, place it on the right field, but he can't lie to you. I gotta convince somebody, let you know, it's time to resurrect the all promise that God is gonna do what he said he would do. I am anchored to the fact tonight that God, you promised me that my anchor, Paul said, this is the assurance I have that I've got a promise from God. You see, for God to lie, he would have to cease from being himself and the Bible says that he never changes. I don't know where you're at tonight, but I want somebody to hear me right now. If God

has made you a promise, don't bear that promise. I'm speaking to a mother and a daddy right now. Your son and your daughter may not be here, but God promised you. You dedicated that baby to the Lord and God promised you they're coming back. I wanna let you know, I don't know when it's coming. I don't know how it's gonna happen. They may be strung out on drugs tonight, but I want you to hear me. If you've got a word from the Lord, whether it was in prayer or in man of God, I want you to hold on to that promise because they're coming back. If God has promised you and you've got a disease in your body and God promised you, I'm gonna heal you. Every service you come, I want you to come saying, God, you promised me a healing and I don't have it yet. I know that God has promised in church a mighty revival. He taught our both,

so told our Bahá. I know what I feel in my spirit when I drive up on the parking lot. I know what I feel in my spirit during worship and I'm telling you right now while this reheats, your best days are not in the rear view. Your best days are not behind you, but you better get ready because God wants to do something. He's never done before. Come on, guys, look at the church that says I'm not gonna talk about what the church used to be, but I believe greater is coming because I'm resting, that God may, may God cannot lie. God may have promised you backsliders, a bigger building, a breakthrough. I don't know why I keep going back to this, but I feel this in the Holy Ghost. I know what it's like to go to church with good people who did the best they can to raise their kids in the church and all you're holding on to is that

verse that says, train them up in the way that they should go and when they're old, they will not depart, but I wanna speak a prophetic word. Isaiah 49 says, I will fight with those who fight with you and I will save your children. You need to go home and highlight that in your Bible and say that's a word for me tonight, that God's gonna fight with my enemy and it's gonna save my children. The Bible says, we speak to the North, we speak to the South, we speak to the East, we speak to the West, and we say, bring our kids home. And there are two things that I've witnessed that attack the faith of the people of God when it comes to the promises of God. Number one is time and circumstances. When our promise takes longer than we thought it would have taken, we assume it's not going to happen because it doesn't happen the way we thought it should

happen. But humanity operates within the realm of time. Everything we do is governed by time, when we eat, when we sleep, when we go to work, when we exercise, when we come to church, when we do whatever we're going to do, we do it by time, but God doesn't operate in time. He operates in timey, which means it doesn't matter how long it takes. I just want it to happen. The second thing we allow somehow to distort our mind and our faith is our mistakes. And we automatically assume the moment we make a mistake that every promise that God had for me goes out the door. But I wanna encourage somebody that God is with you. God's promise is with you. And in your moments of weakness, it did not nullify the promise of God. When I got into the church, because I was first generation, there were a lot of people that took me in. And one of the people that did

has become like a spiritual grandmother. She has made meals for me as she's helped me. She's helped me and my wife. Her name is Sister Rhonda. And for 46 years, she prayed for her husband. But I was in the service about seven years ago when he walked through a prayer line and God filled him with the Holy Ghost. And after that, I said, how long have you been praying for your husband? She said, I've been praying for him for 46 years. And she said there were some nights he'd never come home and I didn't know where he was at. But I had a word from the Lord that I'm gonna save your husband. And for 46 years, she held on to that promise. And for 46 years, she kept believing and now they're in church every Sunday together. Why? Because it doesn't matter how long it takes. God is faithful. Secondly, we cannot allow the mistakes that we make to get inside of

our mind. And it makes us feel like that we're not gonna get what God promised us. In Hebrew chapter six, the verse that I read when it talks about Abraham and Sarah, God, it promised him a child. And the Bible says that it was impossible for God to lie. But when you flip back to the Old Testament, you'll read in Genesis chapter 15 where God shows up to Abraham and he says, look, you're gonna have a son and the son's gonna be the father of many nations. And in your seed, I'm gonna bless. It's gonna be like the stars in the sky and the seas on the seashore. He said, I'm gonna bless you and Sarah, but they were barren and they were 90 years old. And when God said you're gonna have a baby, Sarah started laughing. She said, God, I'm whole. And God says, I promise you, I'm gonna give you a seed. And Abraham and Sarah, when they first got

their promise, I'm sure they were like most of us. They went back to their tent, to their house, wherever they were staying. And I would imagine they would lay up at night and talk about what they're gonna name and I would imagine they would lay up at night and talk about how they're gonna explain to them that they were barren for 90 years, but God made them a promise. I would imagine if they were like me, they'd be so excited. What color are we gonna paint this room? What kind of clothes do we wanna bring with us to the hospital? Where are we gonna go when we leave the hospital? I can't wait to tell them about how God's been so faithful. I can't wait to tell them about how God's been so good, but all of a sudden it starts taking a little longer than they would expect. Then all of a sudden, it starts not going as according to plan. And

one day, Sarah says, I got an idea. Let's give God a hand. Maybe he doesn't want your seed to come through me. Maybe he wants us to come through the handmade. You see, in those days, it was a custom for a man to have a handmade multiple wives. I'm so glad those days are over. I got one wife and I'm never right. I can't imagine having multiple wives. We have a sign in our bathroom that says, Mr. Right and Mrs. Always Right. And that's the truest thing I've ever read. Cause somehow even when I'm right, she convinces me I'm wrong. And I love being right. So I don't like it to be right with my friends now. But Sarah says, go to Hagar, the handmade. She'll give you a son. But I wanna pause there and let you know when God gives you a promise, you don't have to act in the flesh to help God out. God doesn't need our hand in

it. God doesn't need us to say, well, you know, he's not really know what he's talking about. So let me help you out a little bit. And because they got impatient with the promise, they acted in the flesh. And so they had this son and his name is Ishmael. And the dangerous thing about trying to operate in the flesh is that at first it seemed successful because Sarah couldn't get pregnant. And then all of a sudden immediately Hagar gets pregnant. If you're not careful when you act in the flesh, it looks like it's working. So they have this son by the name of Ishmael. But Ishmael was not the promise of God. And the Bible says that Abraham was 86 years old when Ishmael was born. And the birth of Ishmael is recorded in Genesis 16, verse 15 through 16. And it says, and Hagar bear Abram a son and Abram called his name that Hagar bear Ishmael. Now watch this. And Abram

or Abraham was four score and six years old which translates to 86 when Hagar gave birth to Ishmael. Now that is the end of Genesis 16. And if you were to read in your Bible, the very next verse says this, Genesis 17 to one. And when Abram was 90 years old and nine, in other words, he's now 99, which means there was a 13 year span from Genesis 16 to Genesis 17. And scripture gives us no evidence that God who would regularly talk to Abraham talked to him for 13 years. Now this isn't accustomed to Abraham. He was used to hearing from God on a regular basis. But for 13 years, we have no concrete evidence that God spoke one word to Abraham. And so for 13 years, Abraham watched as Ishmael began to grow up into a teenager. By this time, Ishmael is walking and talking. By this time, Ishmael knows Abraham was my father, but Sarah is not my mother. I

can see Ishmael racing to Abraham, asking for fatherly advice to play ball all the while in the back of Abraham's mind. He looks at his version of the promise, knowing this is not the will of God. He gaze into the eyes of a young man that didn't have to be in this situation. He looks at his 13 year old son who he knows was born because he took a flight of the flesh. That's what it means. That's what his name means. Abraham gazes as a fleshed version of what the spirit was supposed to produce. And for 13 years, Abraham and Sarah were married. And I'm sure it calls arguments and fights. And for 13 years, they wondered, is our promise ever gonna come to pass? Did we mess up the promise of God? Did we thought the plan of God for 13 years? They wondered, is this all we're gonna get? Then one day Abraham is back in his tent and he had

an heart from God in 13 years. And I'm sure if he was like me, he wondered and he thought it's all over. Then one day as he's there, God does, as I often say, what God does best. And he shows them. I'm thankful that even in moments of weakness, I've got a God that's able to walk to where I am. Just to let me know, I haven't forgotten about you. I tell ya, I haven't forsaken you. Genesis 17 and one. And when Abraham was 90 years old and nine, the Lord appeared unto Abraham and said unto him, I am the almighty God. Walk before me and be thou perfect. He said, I will make my covenant or my promise between me and you. And he said, I will multiply you exceedingly. And Abraham fell on his face and God talked with him. Not to him, God talked with him. This is what he said. He said, Abraham, I don't know where you're at

mentally. I know for 13 years you've probably been wondering where I've been. I know for 13 years you've been thinking that this deal was over. But God told him in Genesis 17 and four that ask for me. Abraham, I don't know where you're at on this side of our deal, but I wanna let you know that as for me, the deal is still on. I'm still gonna give you a son. I've still got a promise for you. And he let Abraham know, even though you made a mistake, that's how faithful I am. And this is what it says in Genesis 21. And the Lord visited Sarah as he said. And the Lord did up to Sarah as he's spoken. For Sarah conceived and bear Abraham a son in his old age at the set time, which God has spoken to him. I'm telling you, church, that when God's timing and God's promise collide, it always gives birth to an Isaac because with God,

the deal is still on. I wanna encourage somebody that God's got a set time and it's got your name on it. Don't get weary and well doing. For in due season, you shall reap what you sow if you faint not. I want you to revive that passion for the promise. I want somebody to stand up on your feet right now and remind God, I'm not giving up on my promise. I'm not giving up on my promise. Come on, I wanna let you know God sent me here to tell you. As for him, the deal is still on. His promise is still with you. I'm almost done. You're gonna be seated for just a moment. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city where I grew up in. And it was then that I started going to a Pentecostal church with a young man I went to school with. Because even the reason that this happened is because of Hurricane Katrina, we were without power

for three to four weeks. And I grew up, I didn't know wealthy family. We did well, but we weren't the wealthy people in town. We didn't have any generators and we ran out of food. We were eating MREs and drinking donated water from the army and for a teenager, that's rough. I remember it being so hot in our break home. I wasn't used to life without air conditioning and box fans and cold water and good food. And then we got the news that you're gonna be without power for a few more weeks. Oh God, I don't think I can make it. And our neighbors just happened to be Pentecostal during the storm and I went to school with their oldest son. And they said, look, we have a cabin and we're gonna leave town for a few weeks and we wanna know if you'd like to come. I said, yes. I didn't even ask my parents for permission. I said, I'm going with

you guys. There's are gonna give me permission. I'm gonna have to ask for forgiveness because I'm leaving. I'm coming with y'all because y'all going to AC and good food. So I went to my mom and I said, Mom, you gotta let me go. I know we barely know these people, but it's worth a chance of dying if I can just get to the AC. I said, please, let me go. He said, okay. I said, if you don't hear back in a month, come looking for me. And they told me, pastor, see this. And they said, we got a cabin, I'm thinking. I got a campground that you go skiing and fishing and swimming and you get in the truck and we start driving. I didn't travel a whole lot as a kid so I didn't know where we were going. I was just in the back seat, glad to be headed to AC. Then all of a sudden we pull up in Tioga,

Louisiana and I'm looking at the sign and unite at Pentecostal Church Campgrounds. I was like, oh my God, we're at the Pentecostal Campground. They're trapping me here. I looked at my friend that I brought with me because I thought I'm not dying alone. So I brought a friend and I said, bro, we're at the Pentecostal Campground. What have we gotten ourselves into? And I stayed there for almost three weeks and that was how I got introduced to the Pentecostal Church. And when I went home, they started picking me up for service every Sunday night, every Sunday morning, every Wednesday night, they would bring me to eat. I practically lived with those people. For three years they brought me to church. I never got the Holy Ghost, I never got baptized but I was exposed to the power of God like we felt here tonight. And I knew that there was any church that I ever wanted to be a part of. It was

gonna be a Pentecostal Church because I could tell that something was real about that church. Nobody went to sleep in that church. I saw people get off drugs in that church and I made up my mind. I said, if I'm ever gonna be a part of a church, it's gonna be one of these churches. But my senior year of high school, the church went through some issues and my father had died, my junior year and I got super close with who was the student pastor at the time and then he had to leave. He had to leave and shortly after the pastor left and I was so confused, I didn't know what to do and so my senior year of high school, I was just playing ball, I started experiencing with drugs and alcohol. I decided I wasn't gonna go back to that church. It just wasn't for me. And that August I left for college and I went to Southeastern Louisiana University

or Southeastern University in Hamilton, Louisiana and I went to college and I just thought I experienced all those things and I started partying every night. I made sure I kept good grades because I was on an academic scholarship and I knew that that was gonna be my way to get a good education and a good job. So I made sure I still went to class and that's what I can tell you how many nights I went to class hungover just drugs and alcohol in my body and I was just doing my thing. I thought I was just living the dream. I said college, God. And then I went home in December for Christmas break to see my girlfriend. I was dating at the time and I went back to school in January, scarred my body up with tattoos and started doing all of these things and I thought I was just living the dream lifestyle but then everything was going well until March

of 2010. One night I stumbled up the stairs from a party still kind of under the influence of alcohol and I remember heading to my apartment bedroom and as I laid down on the bed, I remember all of a sudden it felt like somebody cut a big sock fan on in my room and I just felt this wind come in. And it hit me that what I was feeling was the presence of God like I felt in that pentagonal church a few years ago and I started crying and the tears filled the cavity of my ear and I couldn't really remember any of the songs I used to sing so I just got on YouTube and I looked up this one song they used to always sing and it was To Worship You I Live. I would sing it but I'm terrible. To worship you I live, I live to worship you. That's how it goes. I'm not a good singer. But I

laid there and I thought, oh God, why are you reaching for me? I'm so broken. I'm so in sin. And from March, April and May for three months I lie to you not every night that I would stumble home and I would get in my bed. I would feel that wind again. It would blow in my room. I went downstairs one night I couldn't take it. My two best friends I moved in with me to Hamam because we were inseparable and I looked at both of them I said, I don't know what's going on but I'm telling you every time I try to go to bed I feel the presence of God and I said when I go home this summer I'm gonna give my life to the Lord and I'm gonna be a changed man. They said, whatever. Because they knew how into that lifestyle I was. Oh, but I couldn't explain it but I knew God was reaching for me and

I said, God, if you will let me go home this summer I promise you I'll live for you. And then all of a sudden I went home in June and when I got back to my parents' house in the bedroom that I stayed in all of a sudden those nightly visitations they just stopped. And so for June I'm doing the same thing that all of a sudden the first week of July 2010 I'm laying in my bed in my parents' house it's seven o'clock in the morning and I had this dream and in that dream I could see pictures of my family one after another falling off of this cliff into what appeared to be this pool of lava and God spoke to me in that dream I saw my mother, my stepdad, my sister, my cousins two of my best friends I saw their faces as they were plunged off of this pit only to be just dissolved by this lava and

in that dream God spoke to me for the very first time so clearly and he said, Drew, this is what's gonna happen to your family unless you serve me he said, you know who I am but they don't know who I am but if you will serve me, he tell her boy, I come God said, I promise you I will reach your family I woke up from that dream and I called my friend who had taken me to the campgrounds years prior he was in the church he didn't answer he was seven thirty in the morning by that time I made up my mind this Sunday I'm going to church and that Sunday was July the fourth Sunday just kind of a holiday weekend but when they gave the altar call I got out of my seat and I ran to the front and I threw my hands in the air and my pastor who's the only pastor I've ever had laid his

hands on me on that side of the church and I received the gift of the Holy Ghost for the first time one month later on August the 8th, 2010 they baptized me in the name of Jesus and I can tell you without hesitation I didn't want any more drugs I didn't want any more alcohol I didn't want anything to do with that lifestyle because when I got the Holy Ghost something changed in my world and I thought okay God made me a promise He's going to save my family so I'm going to go home at the church and tell them about what just happened and they're going to be with me on a Wednesday night that didn't happen in fact they looked at me like I had poems that got in my head they said we're not going to that church you can go all you want but we're never going to go to your church and so I started living for the

Lord and what I held on to that God you promised me in that dream that if I serve you you're going to reach my family and since my family didn't want anything to do I started teaching Bible studies to people in the city whoever would let me I would teach them a Bible study I started winning people to the Lord I was just a new convert all I knew is that something happened in me I was never able to walk away from that lifestyle but all of a sudden now I was so I started teaching Bible studies I asked pastor if I could take the church van and go get people and bring them to church or I'd let them ride with me in my car and year one that's what I started doing and year two that's what I kept on doing I kept on living for the Lord and then about two and a half years as a new convert six

years ago this week pastor called me and said all this one day and said I want you to pray about something I want you to become a student pastor of our church not understand we got a good size church and I was thinking you got a lot better options than me to lead these young people I prayed and fasted about it and at that time I was fasting every Tuesday for my family I said God you made me a promise and I said yeah I'll become the student pastor I mean if you just had options then yeah I'll do it and I developed a burden for young people so I started reaching young people and I finally one day my grandmother asked me about God and I started I went over to her house and I thought her and two of my cousins a Bible study and I thought oh yeah here we go we're gonna have a breakthrough but nothing happened year

three year three and a half still nothing happened and year four goes by and then all of a sudden my parents start coming to church a little bit and I thought okay we're gonna have a breakthrough then one day they decided we're never going back we don't fit into that church we don't like that church they said we're not coming back and I asked God God why can I win other people but I can't win my own family I said God you promised me and understand I believe every soul was as valuable as any soul but I was just hanging on to a promise that I had from God if you'll serve me I'll reach your family and then all of a sudden about two and a half years ago I've always sat on the front row at church because I don't like to see what's going on behind me and it allows me to stay focused and I'm just walking back and

forth like I do when I'm at home and I look back and our back doors are in the middle of our church and they sneak open my mom and step dad walk in and just totally unannounced by this time I had taught them 30 to 50 bible studies pastor I didn't know what else to teach them I'm like guys I'm a new convert this is all I got I would teach them and we would have bible study nights and all of a sudden I stopped inviting them the Lord told me stop inviting them so I stopped inviting them and I was just praying and the shadows God you promised me you're going to reach my family and then they walk in that night and then they kept coming and suddenly morning Sunday night and all of a sudden brother Chavis was there preaching for us and I remember when my step dad walked down to the front and God filled him with the

Holy Ghost and two summers ago we had a great service and that by this time they had been coming for almost a year strong and they came up to me and they said you know we've decided we need to be baptized in Jesus name I said you're exactly right so the next Sunday I baptized my mom and my step dad in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins the very next Sunday I've got a half sister who had had two children and the father walked out and she called me and she said I'm so broken I don't know what to do I said I want you to start coming to my church because I serve a God that can put you back together and she started coming to our church and the very next Sunday I baptized her in the name of Jesus and the very next Sunday I was praying with her in the altar when God filled

her with the Holy Ghost I have seen God feel both of my best friends with the Holy Ghost I've seen my grandmother be baptized in Jesus name and be filled with the Holy Ghost and last summer I had a cousin who I was so close to growing up he was my hero he was an all-state football player had all kinds of scholarships to go play but he wanted to get married so he passed up on the scholarships went got a construction job and he was married had two beautiful kids and life was great they were doing well with themselves all of a sudden he got mixed up with some guys with the job who were doing drugs and he had never been one to do drugs and he went from about 270 pounds muscle to about my size and I knew something was wrong with him and when I would see him he's always twitching he got so hooked on heroin and math

it just totally wrecked his life until two times almost in the ER that he overdosed and he had to bring him back to life and then his wife got on drugs and the state got involved and they said you're not fit to raise your kids and they took their kids away and he ended up in prison and one day I got a collect call and I said man what are you doing he said I need you to come to the jail I need you to pray for me and every Saturday night I would try and I'd talk to him do that glass and I'd say when you get out I've got a God that can help you I know some men in our church that can put you to work God's gonna turn your life around he got out of jail he went right back to drugs I said I can't help you and then all of a sudden a few months later

he called me from a rehab facility he said drew up a rock bottom and I need God it started coming to church I let him come for about three weeks before I hit him with I'm gonna teach you a Bible study and last summer before I went off the youth camp we met on a Saturday night they have that first picture I believe it's us standing up at our fellowship hall and I just taught him a Bible study he's gained all his weight back his wife's gained no heart weight back they got their kids back they said we're all drugs but we're just missing something I taught him a Bible study and when I got to the part about baptism in the name of Jesus how the blood can wash away all of your sins they both started crying and they said can we be baptized together tomorrow and the next Sunday morning I baptized him in the name of Jesus I baptized

her in the name of Jesus the full remit that is that almost died too tight and last year I was elected secretary I'm trying to hurry but I feel like God wants to help somebody I was elected secretary at youth camp and I had to go up early just get everything ready we got everything ready we're on our way to eat at the restaurant and I got a FaceTime call from my pastor at about seven o'clock and I knew that he should be preaching at this time so I thought maybe he accidentally hit the button and some told me to answer it and so I decided to answer it and then I look up and he's got somebody holding the phone and he's standing right here at my cousin and his wife that I just baptized one week prior was standing there he said, Drew, I wanted to call you because God is about to feel air and hope with the Holy Ghost

and I want you to watch it I was in the back of a truck there was a man and somebody else in the front seat I was doing my best to be discreet I was doing my best to go crazy but I watched it on FaceTime he laid hands with my cousin whose life had been ravaged by drugs and I watched as he started to lift his hands and speak in another tongue as God built him with the Holy Ghost then I watched as God built his life with the Holy Ghost church we're talking about meth and heroin addicts that should be in the grave but when God makes you a promise drugs couldn't take them because I had a promise the enemy couldn't take them because I had a promise because when God makes a promise that was over a year ago I told him next time I went somewhere to preach he's out bringing with me he's at church every Sunday

he checks him when I found out I was coming here and he said hey I was supposed to go with you but I was like man I'm going for a weekend my wife's going I just can't bring you with me to stay where I'm going but I told him I would he's faithful to church they've been through the Cybership class they don't miss a Sunday God's still working on them on a couple of things but I'll tell you what they're off drugs and they never miss a service and they've been filled with the Holy Ghost because with God makes you a promise and God's not doing my family and I told you all of that to let you know that it doesn't matter what you're going through there are some promises in this place I can see it in the spirit on some of you and you thought it was over but I've come to give you faith to believe again I've come

to give you faith to hope again ha la bo si atala bah come on I'm talking to some people that the enemy convinced you that it's over it's not over you gotta believe again you gotta believe again you gotta believe again come on if you can take two methodics and put them on an apostolic pew what can he do with your children what can he do with your family I want you to stand at your feet there's about to be a wave of the spirit that hits this place come on I'm telling you in the next 30 days you're about to see promises come to fruition that have been dead for a while and that's because you started to believe again ha la bo si atala bah I want some of you to get ready go home and write it down put it on your refrigerator God is about to open the door and there's about to be a wave of promises that

hit this church because I'm telling you the only impossibility that God has is that is impossible for God to love come on we're going to lift your hands right now begin to pray ha la bo si atala bah God these are your people and I have done what you've asked me to do now I pray that you would do what only you could do come on somebody get desperate again there were days that when you prayed you always prayed about this particular promise but you don't pray about it anymore and I'm telling you to believe again come on church God sent me here tonight to just encourage you that he's still going to do it come on I said I need some prayer awards I need you helping me right now I need you praying in the spirit come on there's a prophetic touch or the Holy Ghost here right now come on I want somebody to get out of you see to

come down to the front and claim it in the name of Jesus R-a-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra, I'm going to kill you.
