Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A dark hour, a people of the light
- Apostolic people inhabit two worlds at once but are often aware of only one: filled with the Holy Ghost, they can sense what others cannot in an age of darkness — abortion, political unrest, racial turmoil, depression, anxiety, rising crime and lawlessness.
- The world is not getting better, and numbing the pain with the bottle or the pills does not sustain; the only way to rise above the turmoil is through Jesus — repentance of sins, baptism in Jesus' name, and being filled with the Holy Ghost.
- In the midst of the darkness there is a people full of the light of Jesus Christ — a church set like a lighthouse on a hill, an ark of safety where the hurting can be introduced to the one who changed our lives.
Isaiah among the woes
- Isaiah was a child of the light dwelling in the midst of darkness: Judah and the northern kingdom had turned their backs on the God who led them out of Egypt, and Jeroboam's idolatry had set the pattern of wickedness.
- Chapter after chapter he pronounced woes over the sins of Judah and Israel — righteous indignation from a man in tune with the light, who saw everyone else's sin clearly.
I saw the Lord
- In the year that King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple — denoting his victory, his power, his greatness.
- Above it stood the seraphims, each with six wings, crying one to another: holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory — in a world full of unrighteousness the glory of God is still present.
- It takes a vision of God to see his glory and to see the world rightly; when people lift their voice in praise, perspective changes and the darkness grows dim before the light.
Scriptures: Isaiah 6:1-3
Woe is me — the vision turns inward
- Before the vision, Isaiah's word was 'woe is you'; in the light of God's majesty it becomes 'woe is me — I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips.' Our vision of God informs our vision of ourselves.
- The seraph brought a live coal from the altar and laid it on his mouth: your iniquity is taken away. Then he heard the voice of the Lord — whom shall I send, and who will go for us? — and answered, here am I, send me.
- Vision of God gives vision of self, and vision of self gives vision of purpose: had Isaiah never seen the Lord he would never have heard the call to go; the Samuel story shows the same pattern of learning to answer when the voice calls.
Scriptures: Isaiah 6:5-8
A first-generation experience
- Movements run a sectarian cycle: the first generation gives everything to God with fire and fervency, the second follows the same beliefs on the anointing of mom and dad, and the third tosses away what the first two lived for — unless each generation sees the Lord for itself.
- He tells his own story: raised in church and in a Christian school, leading worship while apathetic and headed out of church — he had the Holy Ghost but no vision — until a man of God prophesied over him at a youth revival and he fell on his face before God.
- It is not enough to ride the coattails of pastor, parents, or grandparents; every student must say, I have got to see the Lord for myself — I've got to see him high and lifted up, so I can see myself and my purpose.

isaiah chapter six verse number one isaiah's chapter six and verse number one the bible says in the year that king uzziah died i saw also the lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up and his train filled the temple i saw the lord i will tell you tonight this is my disclaimer we're here for back to school and i believe that students are going to be impacted by the power of god's spirit and by the word of god because i am a nobody and i am standing in the midst of amazing people of god and as long as god is glorified as long as the truth of god's word is preached god will move so if you're a hundred if you're ten it does not matter god wants to move on you tonight do you believe that amen let's lift up our voices praying together lord you are great and greatly to be praised praise god you are so wonderful you are so strong come on that sid fac let's lift up our voices be here lord in jesus name god bless you as you're seated tonight there was an author by the name of leonard ravenhill that would pin the words and gave us an incredible saying he would write in one of his books that christians are individuals that inhabit two worlds at once but sadly are only aware of one the meaning behind his words is that apostolic people when we are filled with the gift of the holy ghost we have the ability to see things feel things sense things that others may not sense and feel there are people that walk through incredible darkness today there are individuals that walk in incredible darkness as they see the amount of atrocities that take place every few minutes as babies are aborted i read in the news just a few weeks ago that in ohio there was an abortion clinic where they took the body parts of aborted babies and they discarded them in the trash bin behind the clinic we live in a dark world we live in a day of political unrest where people are fighting across the aisle there is no unity bishop carpenter said it best this morning when he said where there is no humility there can be no unity there is no humility and there is no unity in their day people walk in a spirit of pride people walk looking for a battle fighting one another screaming and yelling against one another if we disagree no longer can we agree to disagree but we have to grind each other down to dust and that is not just simply people being people i believe that there is a dark force behind those things there are men and women that walk in darkness every day dealing with depression because when they look around and and they see all of the racial injustice and all of the political upheaval and all of the the racial turmoil in our world today people only see the dark as the darkness closes in as depression sinks onto people's minds and ways down their shoulders as as anxiety begins to grip their hearts as fear begins to creep in and keeps you home from church on a sunday because you're afraid of certain things and this or that i'm here to tell you we live in a dark hour we live in a day where bad things are happening to good people we here live in a day where where where where they're defunding the police and we see all of these uh increases in crime and and law and order is being thrown away with and let me tell you the bible said that there would be a day where lawlessness would reign supreme and that is today but in the midst of this darkness in the midst of the turmoil in the midst of the pain in the midst of a heartache in the midst of all of the terrible things going on there are a people that are full of the light of jesus christ there is a beacon of hope there is a place that people can run to and can be safe there is a church that is set like a lighthouse on a hill calling out to those that are battered by the storms that rage on the sea i'm glad i'm in an ark of safety tonight and i'm glad i can tell people though you may be hurting you can follow me to a church and you can follow me to an altar and i'll introduce you to something that changed my life we see it all the time people battled by addiction and and and we saw early on in 2020 depression rates were at an all-time high suicide rates are at an all-time high people that had been clean off drugs for years went back to the bottle went back to the pills went went back to the crack house why because they did not have the one thing that could sustain them because when the darkness creeps in you want something to numb the pain when the darkness comes in you want something to make you forget about it and let me tell you those pains those anguishes are going to come back unless you find yourself full of the holy ghost baptized in jesus name and repentance of your sins the only way to rise above the turmoil of the world is through jesus apostolic people hear me tonight the world is not getting any better it will not be better tomorrow it will not be better next month and that's why we're starting a school is we want to give an ark of safety to our children where they can grow up hearing the word of god they can grow up understanding things that they're going to have to have to get through this world they're going to have to know how to to do reading and writing and arithmetic but let me tell you when you can get the word down deep in their hearts there's no better investment because it's not getting better in fact it's going to get worse the bible tells us so jesus told us so matthew 24 did he lines it out for us that it's not going to get any better and i look back over the word of god i look back as men and women of god live for him throughout centuries i look back at at men like david and solomon i look back at men like moses i look back at these men like jeremiah i look back at the prophet isaiah i look at how he would find himself living in a world that is not much different than our own though the customs were different the spirit was the same though they behaved a little differently the thought process was still the same they had turned their back on their creator they had turned their back on their god the one that led them out of egypt and brought them into a promised land was now nothing more than a token sitting on a mantle they left the thing they had loved they turned their back on the one that saved them and that's why the prophet isaiah would write time and time again of the sins of judah he would write about all the terrible things that were taking place because he was a child of the light that found himself dwelling in the midst of darkness he was a child of the light dwelling in the midst of evilness he was a child of the light dwelling in the midst of unrighteousness the kingdom of israel was divided there was the kingdom of judah and then there was the rest of israel the northern kingdom king jeroboam would be a man that the bible says he would do more wicked than even the ones that came before him jeroboam the first was a bad dude he would be the guy that would lead an uprising against solomon he would talk to the children of israel trying to get them to turn on their leadership and turn their back on their god he would be a man that would prostitute god's word and god's law and give it in exchange for ease he would set up idols in the east and the west so nobody would have to come up to jerusalem he would set up idols for worship and then they said this king now jeroboam ii is doing even worse and i can't imagine the things that isaiah must have saw but i can tell you right now that he did see them because he would write about them time and time again in verse number one he would write about the sin of judah and of israel in verse number two he would keep on going and the hits keep on coming and then we'd find in verse number three he would give out this word whoa oh sinners whoa oh those ones that turn their back on god two times he would speak this word about the children of israel and we would find keep on going through the word of god and you would find in isaiah chapter four the same thing pronouncing the evilness of the world we get to verse number five seven times he would say woe woe to the people that do unrighteousness woe to those that have turned their back on god woe to those that are doing evil woe to those that that pursue an alternative lifestyle woe to those that are aborting their children woe to those that are leading our country on a bad path and turning their back on god and like us he got focused on those bad things that were happening like us he saw the sin of everywhere else he saw the sin of everyone else and i don't believe it was self-righteousness that god over got a hold of him i believe it was righteous indignation because he knew what was right he knew what was wrong he knew what the children of god were supposed to do and he looked out and he saw everyone turn their back on god the prophet telling them oh you're doing wrong the prophet speaking over them this was a man that was in tune with the light this was a man that was in tune with the spirit of god woe to you then he would reach a point in his life i don't know how many years would go between these chapters i don't know how many times he would be downtrodden and disheartened i don't know how many times that he wanted to throw in the towel but i know there was a point where he came into contact with something that he had never experienced before in isaiah chapter six and verse number one we saw it here tonight in the year that you king uzziah died i saw also the lord he said he was sitting on a throne high and lifted up and his train filled the temple it was denoting his victory it was denoting his power it was denoting how great and mighty he is and he said above it stood the seraphims each one had six wings and with twain he covered his face with twain he covered his feet and with twain he did fly and this is what the bible says and one cried and to another and said holy holy holy is the lord of hosts the whole earth is full of his glory in a world that is full of unrighteousness the glory of god is still present in a world where people are turning their back on god the glory of god is still present in a day in an hour where you don't feel like you can make it trust me saint of god the glory of god is still here it's all around us if we can just open our eyes they cried holy holy holy three times to denote the completeness of the holiness of god i'm here to tell you tonight when people begin to lift up their voice and praise and worship to a king of kings and the lord of hosts our perspective begins to change and the darkness begins to grow dim because there is a light that will begin to emanate there let me tell you he was the light that dwelt among men he was the lie that's shown in the darkness his name is jesus and if you can but lift him up tonight let me tell you the darkness will fade away and give way to a marvelous light come on let's worship him for a moment come on that's it man there's a remnant in maryville tennessee there's a remnant of people that say though it's dark though it's dreary though it's them i'm going to let the light of god shine hallelujah hallelujah the bible says you can be seated the bible says the doorposts were moved oh the praise of the angels that as they lifted up god the doorposts were moved and he noticed that it takes a vision of god to see his glory it takes a vision of god to inform you about the unrighteousness sometimes of the world that is why people get caught up in false doctrine listen to me students that is why people chase fame and they chase fortune and they chase money and they prostitute the gospel of jesus christ because they've turned their eyes away from the lord there has got to be a people that will find their way back to an old-fashioned halter and lift up their voice to god and get a vision of the almighty again we got to be up i got to see the lord i got to see the lord i got to see the lord we've got to have a vision where there is no vision the people perish the bible says that when you look at parish what it means is where there is no vision that people will cast off restraint you want to know why people are leaving the things that apostolic people have held on to for so long because they've lost their vision for god i was so happy when i found myself in a prayer room tonight with elders in a church that haven't lost their vision for god hallelujah people have a vision bishop billy mccool had a vision pastor kenneth carpenter has a vision men and women of god all across this world have a vision let me tell you something instagram cannot inform your vision i'm here to tell you there can be nothing extra by extra biblical or extra spiritual that can inform your vision and what we have to have is a vision of god we've got to see him high and lifted up i know i know you look at your situation and it's hard to see jesus in such a light i know you've been battling so long and it's hard to view him in such a way as being a conqueror and a king and a righteous god but let me tell you he is so righteous he is so mighty he is so wonderful his train still fills the temple in fact he's added to it because he's conquered more things since then let me tell you something and his glory still fills the earth we have to have a vision because our vision of god informs our vision of ourself for chapters isaiah wrote to israel you're sinning woe unto you two times in chapter three woe unto you like seven times in chapter five when isaiah saw the lord high and lifted up and the train of his robe filled the temple the seraphims begin to cry holy holy holy is the lord god almighty oh and the earth is full of his glory as they cried the doorpost shook and when isaiah would see the lord in all of his might and all of his majesty no longer did he say woe is you he said whoa it's me woe is me there's so many times my self-righteousness can get in the way because as long as i'm doing just okay as long as i'm just doing better than the person to my right or to the left as long as i'm just doing better than that person i know that sin and i'm doing all right no it's got to be a vision of god that informs your vision of self and let me tell you there will be times where your vision of god will put you on your face and put you on your knees and remind you just how much of a nothing you are but there are times like gideon when he felt nothing about himself where the vision of god informs you that you're more than a conqueror you are a mighty man of valor you want to know why the vision of god is so important because your vision of self calls you an addict and your vision of self calls you all of these things but when you view god in the right light you begin to view yourself in the right way isaiah would lift up his voice woe is me i am a man of unclean lips and i dwell among a people had her unclean and in this moment he found something that was so incredible he found something that was so valuable he found something that would inform the rest of his writing he never prophesied correct me if i'm wrong pastor carpenter he never prophesied about the messiah until he saw god high and lifted up he would prophesy about the messiah multiple scriptures about how that the wonderful counselor the mighty god the everlasting father and the prince of peace would come he would talk about how that he was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of his p of our peace was upon him but he would have never saw that if at first he could not see himself in the light of god we have got to view ourselves in light of god's word and in light of god's vision we cannot be a people that loses sight of god if we lose sight of god god is the is the thing is the one from which we derive our identity god is the thing is the one from which we derive our security god is the thing he's the one from which we derive the very being and essence of who we are we are created in his image and if we can't view him we can't view ourselves there is a book called the last generation written by an apostolic pentecostal man he would write about something known as the sectarian cycle this cycle is something that can be seen in history if you go back to the beginning you trace all movements based off of god's word or based off of christianity and what he would find in his study was there would be a first generation that would have an experience with god and they would live with a fire and a fervency for the lord they would live with everything that they had this is where i'm starting to preach to you students so give me just a minute okay because we're going to dive into the deep end together y'all y'all here with me students you're here with me all right that's what i'm talking about where you at noah he got me right all right sectarian cycle says that the first generation will give everything they have to their god and then the sectarian cycle goes on to say that the second generation will follow along they'll believe many of the same tenants they'll follow many of the same beliefs but the fire and the fervency isn't there because what they're experiencing is the anointing of mom and dad hear me i have the i have the great honor of pastoring a multi-generational church i have the great honor tonight to minister to a multi-generational church there are people that sit on these pews that have had a first generation experience and now they look at their grandchildren starting this aca school going in and going through their curriculum and let me tell you we've got to be careful because the second generation will begin to wax and wane and finally when the third generation comes along everything the first and the second live four will be tossed away i'm happy to have my parents here tonight i don't get to brag on them near enough in person my parents took me to church every service my uncle my dad both pastor churches incredible men and women of god my grandmother my grandfather on both sides were the first generation to get into church by all intents and purposes the secretariat cycle says that whenever it gets to the second generation it should be less fire and it should be less fervency but something happened in my mom and my dad i've seen my dad used in the gifts anointed man of god that will prophesy and speak over people i've heard people walk up to me and say whatever your dad says you can take it to the bank because it's going to happen he did not get that because he watched his mom and dad live for the lord and he did not take it serious he got that because he said my second generation vision of god is not enough and what i need is a first generation experience i have to see the lord for myself that's what we need in this place tonight we need men women of god we need young men and young ladies of god that will say man it's not enough for me to ride the coattails of my pastor it's not enough for me to ride the coattails of my student pastor it's not enough for me to ride the coattails of my mom my dad and my mama and pat paul i've got to have a first generation experience i've got to see the lord i've got to see him i've got to see him highly lifted up i've got to see his train fill the temple i've got to see him so i can see myself i'm almost done third generation i should be prostituting the gospel on a pulpit like this tonight i should be standing up and saying you don't have to do all those things i should be standing up if you go off of what it says i should be standing up and doing all these crazy things and preaching false doctrine but let me tell you there was a time where i grew up in church i went to a christian school i can tell you i'm about to do let me tell you something this is off this is not a part of my notes because i don't even have notes i showed brother nolan you can witness it i don't have a licking notes that's not to brag on me but this big boy did not want to get in the way tonight this is not to brag on me either i went to a christian school i'm getting a master's and let me tell you what you can go to a christian school and you could be the president of the united states because i'm gonna tell you that christian school made such a difference in my life that apostolic church that has an apostolic school that will let you come and learn the basic tenets of what you need to have to survive but they instill something more i was apathetic i wasn't just apathetic i was pathetic i was on the i was on the straight path to messing up i was on the straight and arrow of being out of church i was leading worship i had the honor to lead worship with some of the best people in in the world and most of them are in this room i was leading worship i was going to hell i i grew up on a church yeah i had the holy ghost i didn't have a vision i grew up on a pew oh but i didn't have a vision i didn't see but there was a day where the second generation the third generation the fourth generation it's just not enough i i gotta have something more and i can tell you where it happened it happened at a youth revival when a man of god prophesied over my life and said i was going to be a pastor i fell on my face and i began to cry out to god it was a six six months later that i met the love of my life got married and now i've been pastoring a church for a year let me tell you something young man and young woman if you want to do anything in this life even if you don't feel the call to ministry man i'm telling you god's going to call you to do something great by being an entrepreneur he's going to call you to be a business owner and bless the church and bless the kingdom of god but you will never do it if we do not have an experience i've got to see the lord i've got to let my eyes behold him i've got to let my voice cry out to him i've got to have a better vision of him because when i see him i see myself woe is me for i am a man of unclean lips how dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips four mine eyes have seen the king the lord of hosts something happens when you see him the seraphim flew took a cold hot coal from off the offer altar laid it on his mouth low he had touched his lips that iniquity is taken away that's in his purse vision of god informs your vision of yourself but it doesn't stop there god began to call out i heard the voice of the lord saying whom whom shall i sin and who who will go for us isaiah the man that dogged him isaiah the man that spoke woe over him isaiah the man that now saw the lord and he saw himself and he says here am i here am i send me your vision of god and for young people your vision of god is so important because it informs your vision of yourself but it also informs your vision of your purpose if he would have never saw the lord he would have never saw himself if he would have never saw himself he would have never saw his purpose he would have never been in the place to hear the voice of god i think about other notable men samuel lays his head down at night and he hears a voice calling out samuel where are you samuel runs to the prophet eli i'm here i didn't call you buddy go lay back down eli said he goes and he lays down he hears the voice of g again and he says samuel where are you he goes back to eli eli being in tune with the spirit says that's not me but when you hear the voice call unto you again say here am i lord voice calls out here am i where are you tonight the greatest calling that a man and woman of god has in musicians come can carry is the calling to go the greatest calling of god i love pastoring my church haiti wilmington i love the people of god i love being there under shepherd i love being the one that god has called but if i forget my call to go then i've nega neglected my call all together i look out over this room i don't know if y'all know this but quietness scares me it does y'all being quiet it absolutely scares the snot out of me but what i figured out is sometimes me and zach talked about this last night we can get so loud that we can't even hear the voice of god we can get so loud in a service like this on the first day of august 2021 that we could get so loud with our voice in an altar that we'll never hear the call of god if we could stand to our feet together this is what i'd ask for us to do i want us to lift our hands all across this house and i want us to begin to talk to the lord come on that's it the book of psalm calls him a god that inhabits the praises of his people i believe that praise is the key that unlocks the door come on that's it man i know they're playing but don't quit talking to him i'm telling you i was in a prayer room tonight me and pastor carpenter were the only two left and i found my vision of god again i walked to the corner of a prayer room i heard the voice of the man of god pastor the man of god of this house praying over me god give him the right words and in that moment i could speak nothing but what the holy ghost spoke through me in tongues we can never be afraid to be vulnerable and open in the presence of god we can never be so prim and proper my ties got to be just right i just everybody's just got to look so i just got to look so cool all the time i just got to let all these errors let me tell you something when we see god he don't care what you're wearing he don't care what you look like he don't care if every hair is in the right spot but what he cares is there is a heart that is crying out and that's what i want us to do all across this house right now i believe it fac joined me if you want to come to an altar come to an altar and i want you to lift up your voice crying out to god come on that get a renewed vision tonight students get a review a renewed vision tonight students take revival to your school take revival to your campus take revival to aca i gotta have i gotta see the lord come on that's it fill in it's okay but if i was apostolic and full of the holy ghost tonight there is no way in this world that i would leave until i had a fresh vision of the creator there's no way i would leave unless i had a fresh vision of the lord of hosts come on that's it man i believe if you push just a little bit more guards getting ready to break out in this place come on students come on that's it come on that said i got to see him i got to see him come on that's it we're in a place of divine impartation right now come on that's it come on i said jesus i stand on the power and the authority that is in your word i stand on the power and the authority that is in the name of jesus i claim right now that every chain every hindrance right now that's holding people back will be destroyed in the name of jesus let the holy ghost sweep through this house like come on lift up your voice the holy ghost is here let us sweep through this house like a mighty rushing wind let us see you let us see you i gotta see you i gotta see you come on that's it now you've seen the lord i take what he said as repentance because he said he's taking his sin away now just lift up your voice and let's begin to repent together oh god cleanse me of anything that is not like you take away the things that i've done wrong come on that pour it out every fault every failure give it to him that's it come on that's it praise god we've done that together this is what i feel the last this is the last thing i'm going to ask you to do i wonder if uh ashley can help out pastor zach can you help me out pastor erickson pastor carpenter if i could ask you please and i'm so sorry to interrupt your prayer but i feel this in the holy ghost if you come up here with me real quick the last thing i'm going to do when i'm done one thing i figured out about pastoring a church is until that mantle is passed the pastor cast the vision and i know pastor zach is your student pastor and i know i respect all of these men of god highly highly and i know pastor zach does not mind me doing this but the vision is cast from the top down and this is what i would ask us to do i want i feel like pastor i know pastor carpenter is an anointed man of god but i feel like he has the prayer for us right now i'm done i'm out of the way but i want to him i want him to pray over all of us in this place tonight along with this ministry team that your vision for your purpose for this church will be renewed will you receive that prayer tonight
