Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Elijah Under the Juniper Tree
- The reading: Ahab tells Jezebel all Elijah has done; her death threat sends him fleeing to Beersheba and a day's journey into the wilderness, where under a juniper tree he asks to die — it is enough.
- An angel feeds him twice — a cake baked on the coals and a cruse of water at his head — and in the strength of that meat he travels forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the Mount of God, and lodges in a cave; in its original sense, “lodged” means a permanent dwelling — a settling.
- Twice the word of the Lord asks, “What doest thou here, Elijah?” When God has to ask why you are here, something is being acted on that he never intended.
- Wind rents the mountains, an earthquake shakes, a fire falls — but the Lord is in none of them; he is in the still small voice. And Elijah still has work ahead: kings to anoint, and Elisha to anoint as successor of the prophets. God was not saying it was enough.
Scriptures: 1 Kings 19:1-13
Don't Stop in Fear
- Fear is a stopping place: Jezebel's one threat set running the prophet who had just watched God consume the water-drenched sacrifice and destroy the 450 prophets of Baal.
- Fear makes us forget our past victories and focus only on present threats; fear paralyzes us, but faith moves us forward.
- As Timothy was told: God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind.
Scriptures: 2 Timothy 1:7
Don't Stop in Discouragement
- Elijah's “it is enough” — asking the Lord to take away his life — is discouragement: not only afraid, but weary and totally put out.
- Discouragement distorts our perception: we begin to see things and believe things that are not really there, and to think people are thinking and saying things about us that they are not.
- We stop short of our destiny by listening to our emotions and forgetting the promises of God — promised revival, a promised saved family, a promised returning prodigal. Fear has to be told to get out of here.
Scriptures: 1 Kings 19:4
Don't Stop in Exhaustion
- God did not rebuke Elijah for being under the juniper tree; he refreshed him — the angel's bread on the coals and the cruse of water set by his head (1 Kings 19:5 and 7).
- It is not our might but his might, his strength infused into us; refreshing and renewal are on this church's horizon.
Scriptures: 1 Kings 19:5; 1 Kings 19:7
Don't Stop Before You Hear God's Voice
- Elijah kept listening for a dramatic sign — wind, earthquake, fire — but God's sign was the still small voice and its question: why are you here?
- The enemy would love you to plant your 911 number down in fear, in discouragement, in exhaustion, and live there; the resolve is to pick that number up and walk with the kingdom of God, standing on his promises — if the enemy wants a conversation, he can start walking.
- The four stops, recapped: don't stop in fear, God is greater than your enemy; don't stop in discouragement, God's plan is bigger than your emotions; don't stop in exhaustion, God will give you strength; don't stop before you hear the voice of God, because he is speaking — and God's got a purpose for you.
God's Not Finished: Testimonies of Healing
- The four lepers reasoned their way out of sitting still: we can sit here and die, or head down to the Syrian camp and maybe be fed — and their footsteps sounded like an army God had orchestrated, so the camp stood empty, full of food.
- On a 1995 trip to Alaska, alone at a remote lake where the planes had stopped flying and the birds had stopped chirping, he heard that he would see things in ministry that had never entered into his mind.
- The last two years have borne it out: eleven stage-four cancers completely healed, people getting up out of wheelchairs, diabetes completely healed, and heart issues reversed to the doctor's astonishment.
- In Oklahoma he and his wife prayed over a woman whose baby had died in her womb, unknown to them; the next morning she felt the baby move again, and this week the picture of the living baby arrived.
- His own confession closes the message: discouraging things are happening, exhaustion is real, and some outcomes he faces with fear — and he is not stopping here. The service moves into prayer and song, believing for miracles, with the Holy Ghost given as fast as hands are laid on, no more tarrying.

if you'll stand with me I just want you to pray and then I'm going to read this to you would you pray with me Jesus touch my mind my heart let me say the right things to your people today God I'm believing that we're following the leading of your spirit today I'm believing that we're doing exactly what you intended to be done right now in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus Amen I'll let you be seated I'm going to read from first Kings chap 19 verse number 1-15 and Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done and with all how he had slain all the prophets with a sword then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah saying so let the gods do to me and more also if I make not thy life as the life of one of them
by tomorrow about this time and when he had saw that he arose and he went for his life and came to berseba which belongeth to Judah and left his servant there but he himself went a Day's Journey Into the Wilderness and came and sat underneath a juniper tree and he requested for himself that he might die and then he made this statement it is enough I want to preach you this thought for just a few minutes why stop here why stop here now you're you immediately think here is a location here is not always a location here can be a mindset yes sir it can be a heart condition it can be an idea a thought it's not always a physical place sometimes it literally is a state of mind but Elijah said it's it's enough I've done enough I've I've been through enough
anybody anybody can testify about that anybody feel like that you could stand up today with the best of them and testify you've been through enough that you could honestly say Lord I I've got I've got all the pins I need I've got all the Battle Scars I can handle today so Lord it is enough but I'm here to give you a word today why would you stop here why would you just stop right here when God's calling us to go further he said it's enough now the Lord take away my life for I'm better than my father's and as he had laid and slept under a Judah the tree behold an angel came and touched him and said unto him arise and eat and he took and behold there was a cake bacon on the coals and a cruise of water at his head and
he did eat and drink and lay down again the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said arise and eat because the journey is too great for thee he arose and he did eat and drink and when in the strength of that meat 40 days and 40 nights unto H the Mount of God and he came hither into a cave and lodged there you know the interesting thing about this setting right here you know what the word Lodge means in that original setting the word Lodge means a permanent dwelling see you and I thought Elijah was this great man of God that's just got it all together he's got his act right where he needs it to be but yet he's setting and preparing himself by saying it's enough but God wasn't saying it was enough God's
not looking at his situation and saying you know what what you're right I'm proud let's just stop right here I'm speaking to somebody in this room right now that has felt like you know what I I've got my battles and I've won my battles and I've risen to my plateau and I'm sitting in a place where I feel comfortable with and I feel like that I'm right where I should be and yet here I come preaching to you this morning why stop here sir why what is so special about here the kingdom of God is all about moving forward but then the Lord the word of the Lord came to him and he said unto him what Dost thou hear Elijah now let me tell you something when you do something or you get somewhere where the Lord has to ask why are you here
I got a feeling you and I should feel convicted in our spirit because we're doing and acting upon something God never intended for us to do God was looking at Elijah why are you here now you know this story he begins to qualify Lord the children of Israel have forsaken thy Covenant and tore down thine altars and slain th Prophet with a sword I even I alone am left I mean he he's qualifying come on somebody so I ask you why stop here somebody says because I'm the only one I'm the only one pastor's got I'm the only one my wife has got I'm the only one my husband's got I and yet God is calling on you and I and asking the question why would you stop here and again he sent him forth unto the mount before the Lord and the Lord
had passed by and a great and a great wind went the rent the mountains and break into pieces The Rock before the Lord but the Lord was not in the wind and after the wind earthquake and after that the Lord was not in the earthquake and after the earthquake a fire and the Lord was not in a fire and after the fire a still small voice and it was so when Elijah heard it he wrapped his face in a Manel and went out and stood in the entering of the cave and behold there came a voice unto him here we go again here we are what Dost thou hear again he's asking him why are you here I'm I'm presenting you this is personal for everybody today why I'm not talking about this physical location I'm not talking about attending this church but why are
you saying I've arrived I've done it everything that I needed is right here the real truth about it is the Lord had a mission for Elijah he still had him needed him to go anoint Kings he still needed him to go down and ano anoint the Syrian King he needed him to go and anoint Elisha as the successor of the prophets he still had a plan for him he had a purpose for him but what was the prophet's word it's enough the prophet's word it's enough I've done all I need to do we haven't done all we need to do we've still got work ahead of us we we've still got great things to accomplish in the Lord I'll just say all my family is not saved come on there's still work to do yes sir when I left Bitton County a while ago
there was still a lost population in Benton County I got a funny feeling in this county is this R Rutherford County I don't believe that I don't think everybody's saved here well maybe I should have just prayed for you let me give you let me give you some points I'm gonna make it really fast for you number one don't stop in fear fear may not be a physical location but fear is a stopping Place Elisha Elijah saw that other words when Jezebel spoke that word he arose and went for his life he was running in fear now what was amazing is Elijah had just watched God destroy all the prophets of Baal on the mount he watched him reach down with his very wind and destroy those prophets and consume that sacrifice what was it Pastor 12 barrels of water that he watered down the
sacrifice that filled the trench around the sacrifice and yet he came and devoured even the water yeah but here is Elijah running in fear don't stop in fear fear makes us forget I wrote this for you I want you to I want you to remember this I told Pastor I really wanted to grab one of these sermons that makes everybody swing from the chandeliers then I saw y'all didn't have chandeliers but I really wanted to preach one of them sermons as I've already done worked out all the bugs instead the Lord gives me a brand new one so don't live stream it I may preach it to next week but watch this I wrote this for this church fear can make us forget our past victories fear causes me to forget what God just done Elijah is running for his life over one
person and God just destroyed 450 and yet one come on somebody but our fear fear causes us to forget our P our past victories it helps us only to focus on our present threats fear causes us to forget but focus on what's present fear paralyzes us Faith moves us forward what do Timothy say God has not given us the spirit of fear but a love peace and a sound mind come on somebody number two I'm I'm running through this really quick you ready for a miracle there's a miracle in the house there ain't no one miracle there's multiple Miracles number two don't stop in discouragement discouragement is a place in which we can stop I'm just totally discouraged watch in Second Kings he says in 2 Kings chapter 19 verse4 it's enough he asked the Lord to take away his life can I can
you believe me that's discouragement he's totally discouraged that nothing's going to happen I oh it's it's just no good it's come on he's totally put out a was not just afraid but he was very weary and discouraged discouragement distorts our perception we begin to see things and believe things that are not really real we begin to think people are thinking and saying things about us that they're not saying discouragement begins to distort it begins to place us to think and see that things that are really not there I hope I'm preaching to somebody sometimes we stop short of our destiny because we are only listening to our emotions come on yes we stop short because we're listening to our emotions and we forget remember we forget when fear shows up we forget remember when fear shows up we forget so we we're living on
emotions and we're for getting the promises of God God promised us Revival well then get out of here fear God promised to save my family then get out of here fear God promised to bring in the prodal so get out of here fear I'm I'm believing that anybody believe in that you got to get you got to stop in exhaustion you got to stop that oh I'm just so exhausted I can't do anymore I can't sleep anymore I just am always tired exhaustion seems to be a place in which we want to stop at I'm encouraging the church today Centerpoint Church don't stop at exhaustion no it's not my might it's his might yes all right it it's it's what he gives me it's his strength that he infuses me with listen look at look at First Kings 19:5 and7 you'll notice that
God did not rebuke Elijah for being underneath the Jupiter tree what did he do he refreshed him he sent an angel from heaven with what a coal a bread baking on the coal coals what did he do the scripture said he set a cruise of Water by his head he was wasn't being rebuked he was being refreshed can I preach to you today I believe God's got some refreshing on our Horizon I believe God's got something to renew and Revitalize us on our Horizon today I'm believing that number four don't stop before you hear from God Don't Stop Don't Stop Don't Stop Elijah stood or stood in the listening to the wind breaking the mountaintops he was listening to the fire coming down and falling from Heaven he was listening to the shaking of the earth and none of that was God the
scripture said after all of that it was his still Small Voice too many times we're like Elijah we're looking for that dramatic sign I just need a sign Lord Give Me A Sign Lord Give Me A Sign Lord Lord and the Lord's sign was to Elijah why are you here why are you here don't stop this morning I wrote these few words right here down finishing these notes and I believe it's for you the enemy would love for you to stop and stay right where you're at right now if you're living in fear he'd love for you to plant your 911 number down right there I'm just going to live in fear Pastor just loved me my 911 number is fear Pastor just love me cuz I'm I'm planting my I'm planting my location and discouragement am I preaching to anybody y'all look
totally different down here than you do up there I can actually see you y'all are beautiful no Pastor I I'm going to I'm going to plant my brother Wesley I'm planting my 911 number and it says exhaustion I'm exhausted how could God use me I'm exhausted come on my word to you here today is don't stop why would you stop here why would you stop at that location don't allow the adversary to talk you in don't allow the adversary to make it feel comfortable and okay resist that today say to yourself today I don't know where he came from but he brought a word to me today and I'm not willing to stay where I'm at I'm willing to pick up my 911 number H I'm willing to pick up 911 number and I'm going to walk with the kingdom of God I'm
going to walk in the glory of God I'm going to stand on the Promises of God oh enemy if you want to have a conversation with me you need to start walking because I'm walking with the Lord right now I'm not allowing myself come on somebody if the media team would show my last screen if they can maybe they can I can't remember what he told me but I wrote this down for you I'm going to read through them really quick don't stop in fear God is greater than your enemy don't stop in discouragement because God's plan is bigger than your emotions don't stop in exhaustion because God will give you strength don't stop before you hear the voice of God because he's
speaking don't stop because God's got a purpose for you amen the greatest thing that when I came to the revelation of this that God has a plan and I'm a part of his plan that's one of the greatest things that you and I could ever come to the realization of is God's got a plan and I'm in that plan you know we love to sing that song when he was on the cross I was on his mind well then let's take it another step further he's got a plan and I'm in his plan I'm a part of his Pro I'm I'm I'm thanking God for my elders I'm thanking God for all those men and women of God that have blazed the trail that toted the stones on their shoulders and they went over to that Jordan and they plac those for a m a
memorial a monument so that I can pass by and say what meth this and then the word of the Lord will come and say this is the place in which God parted the Jordan River I got a feeling that we're standing on the shoulders of giants in this Sanctuary we're standing on the shoulders of people that have got some stories that could tell us some things that happened and that God saw them through I don't know about you today but I'm willing today to
believe what is it God's got for me you know you read back in Second Kings you find where there's four lepers and they come to the final re reality we can sit here and die or we can head down to the Syrian camp and they may feed us before we die y'all know that story right so they reing among themselves they get up and they start heading down to the camp what they didn't know is their footsteps sound Ed like God had or orchestrated all the armies against Syria and so those that were in the Syrian Camp what is that I'm out of here I'm out of here Pastor the Bible said and the lepers came right into the Syrian camp and nobody's there the scripture says they go to the far end of town now this afternoon before you take your not
read and prove I'm telling you truth he goes to the far end of the camp and the Bible said here's these lepers find this tent with food well praise God the lepers said amongst themselves why are we stopping here well maybe I'll get to come back and I'll preach you a better sermon come on come on whatever your situation is right now yes sir I'm challenging you don't stop there don't allow that to determine who you are don't don't let us have to be able to tell the stories well there was such great opportunity for that man or woman of God there was so great opportunity let yourself stand up today with auress in your heart that says you know what I know what that man of God preached me today and I'm willing to say I'm one of those I'm one of those today
I'm stand standing up on my feet and I'm marching toward the kingdom of God I'm not going to be counted for one of those yeah bring y on back go ahead and stand with me I told you I'd try to make it quick my wife is still reeling over there she's going you got 35 more minutes what are you doing I believe today is the day that we move past that stopping place I I'm not stopping here I may have been here for a moment but I'm not stopping here anymore in 1995 we flew to Alaska the Lord had already told me when I made it to Alaska that he was going to talk to me we went out to one of the places that her mom and stepdad homesteaded still homestead in Alaska and I got up that morning and took
a journey and walked as far as the airplanes quit flying over I walked far enough the birds don't even chirp had a rifle in my hand and I found a lake brother Wesley and I just sat down and I laid the rifle down the wind started blowing across that Lake and I said Lord I'm here I'm right here he said you're going to see things in your ministry that have never entered into your mind the last two years we've seen 11 is that not right so far we've seen 11 stage four cancers completely healed 11 I don't know that that entered into my mind we saw people get up out of wheelchairs I've got testimonies and testimonies and testimonies of people that wrestle with diabetes completely healed people that had supposedly had heart issues the doctor says why are you here it's it's written down
if you want to see it in Oklahoma this past year I prayed for a lady that in her in her experiences her baby had died in her womb nobody knew my wife placed her hand there and we prayed the prayer of faith over her she text my wife the next morning and she said nobody knew this but I knew the baby was dead she said when we left that service and I made it home I could feel the baby the baby come back alive this week we got the text message I guess we got the picture or the Facebook message of the baby can I say it to you I don't think those things had entered into my mind so sister Allan what I'm saying I'm not willing to stop here I I'm I'm not willing to stop here am I discouraged I got some
