Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Pentecost Sunday: All the House Was Filled
- Pentecost Sunday is the birthday of the New Testament church, and the church today is alive — not a monument to look back on, but Christ being preached, lives being saved, and homes being put back together.
- He reads the account: they were all in one accord in one place when the sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, filled all the house, and cloven tongues like as of fire sat on each of them, and all were filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance.
- The onlookers mocked them as drunk, but the answer was that this was the Spirit of God; his question for this house is how much room each of us has in our vessel today.
Scriptures: Acts 2:1-4
Three Dimensions of the Overflow
- Overflow means flowing over the brim, filled beyond capacity; God never intended the Holy Ghost to be a tight, rationed measure, and he did not save us to barely slide across the finish line — so stop praying just to survive and start praying for an overflow.
- An overflow of joy: in his presence is fullness of joy, an eternal and unfailing spring rather than a well dug in dirt, found by lifting our hands and voices in praise.
- An overflow of power: you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you — strength to overcome and victory, and a mouth opened in witness, for we overcame the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.
- An overflow of influence: out of the belly of the one who believes flow rivers of living water; a bucket holds water for itself, but a river changes the landscape, and the splash of an overflowing life soaks family, workplace, and neighborhood.
Scriptures: Psalm 16:11; Acts 1:8; Revelation (book-only, as spoken); John 7:38
The Advantage: I Will Come to You
- Jesus told the men who walked with him that it was expedient — to their absolute advantage — for him to go away, because if he did not go, the Comforter would not come; even men who saw him calm the seas still needed his Spirit.
- The prophets promised it beforehand: God would put his Spirit within us and pour it out on all flesh, and all means all.
- He did not send a substitute: I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you — the Holy Ghost is not a separate third entity but the very Spirit of Jesus filling mortal bodies.
- When that fire hits, background does not matter, whether brand-new believer or veteran saint; and no weapon formed against the one living in the overflow will prosper.
Scriptures: John 16:7; John 14:18
Contagious Fire: Filled Daily, Not Once
- He was not raised in this truth and came out of a home marked by alcohol and drugs; a Pentecostal altar changed him, his life, and his family, and religious voices telling him it was only emotion could not argue with the experience.
- Teaching Brenda through the book of Acts by video call, he watched her begin to hunger for what she had never known she could receive; at a tent revival she and her pastor friend Spanky were both filled with the Holy Ghost, and the pastor went home and preached fire to his own congregation.
- He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire, and the purpose of the fire is to purify the vessel; a church living in the overflow makes its community take notice and ask to be signed up.
- Pentecost cannot be a one-time event we merely look back on; some walked in leaking and exhausted, running on fumes, and his closing appeal offers the altar as God's prescription for restoration — be filled every day, and live in the overflow.

Praise the Lord, everyone. I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the house of the Lord. Is anyone else happy to be at the house of the Lord? Amen. Anybody happy to be in his presence? Come on, let's just lift our hands right now. Jesus, we thank you, Lord. We magnify you, Lord. It's so great to be in your house, God. It's a joy to be in your house. It's a joy to be with your people, Lord. We praise you today, Lord. You're worthy. You are worthy of it all. Amen. Amen.
You may be seated just for a moment. I give tremendous honor today to your pastor and first lady. Aren't they absolutely phenomenal? Great leaders, great leaders of vision. Gave me a tour of this wonderful church. What a blessing. CAC, you're blessed. Amen. God has blessed this church. And I know that that's through much prayer, much sacrifice. And as you continue to do that, God is just going to fill this building up and you're going to have to look for another one. Some of you say, "Woe is me." Some of you were excited about that. But as I said, it's such an honor to be with you and pastor reached out to me and asked if I was willing to minister. I looked at my calendar and saw that I was completely open and I said it would be a tremendous honor. And then later on, I looked at another calendar and realized it was Pentecost Sunday. and I wondered if he realized that when he called me, but it's such an honor to be with you. And uh also, I've got so many friends in the room today, so many that I could call out. Uh those that I've served in ministry with, just great friends. Uh but I do want to take just a moment to give honor to a dear friend and someone who's been a mentor in my life. He was my first youth pastor, and that I found out is Dr. Vandy Watt. love Brother Vandy and I love Sister Andrea. And I'm just going to tell you right now, you know, the Lord works in mysterious ways. And you never know how you end up in the places that you that you are. But I know for a fact that I would not be standing right here today had it not been for that man and that woman. And so I give them honor today. We announced a couple years ago that we were evangelizing and uh it's such an honor to have my wife and my four beautiful babies with us today. They don't always get to travel with me, but it's a special blessing when they get to and uh I just absolutely love my wife, adore my beautiful children. I'm so glad that they're with me. And I give honor today to my pastor as well, Pastor Allan in Murphy'sboro.
If you'll stand with me, we're going to go. You could probably guess where we're going to go this morning. And if you said Song of Solomon, you're right. I'm kidding. Acts chapter 2, you can probably quote this. Acts chapter 2, verse one says, "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house. Look at your neighbor and say, "All the house where they were sitting." And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat it set upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. Look at your neighbor and say, "All were filled and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them the utterance." With the help of the Lord this morning, I'm going to be preaching on this Pentecost Sunday. Living in the overflow. Living in the overflow. Can you just set your Bibles down, your phones, your tablets, whatever you have, just lift your hands towards heaven and let's pray right now. Father, we thank you so much for this opportunity to be in your house, for another chance for us to be able to worship in spirit and in truth. Mighty God, we thank you that your presence has met us in this place. Lord, we thank you for those who have come in here today, Lord. I know that salvation is in the house. I know that healing is in the house, Lord. I know that deliverance is in this house, GOD, BECAUSE YOU ARE HERE. Open our hearts, our minds, our ears to receive your word. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. And let the church say, "Amen." Amen.
You may be seated. We're in the house today to celebrate. Pentecost Sunday is not just another date on the calendar. It is the birthday of the New Testament church. It's a day of absolute victory, a day of joy, a day that should that should have uncontained praise. Amen. When the Holy Ghost fell in Acts chapter 2, it didn't look like a quiet, somber service. No, it started with an explosion of heavenly fire. It came with a sound from heaven like as a rushing mighty wind. It says it came so intense with joy that 120 stepped out from that upper room and they turned their city and their world upside down. Others began to mock as they saw them worshiping and they said, "I think that they're drunk." But Peter stood up and said, "We're not drunk, but what this is is this is the spirit OF GOD." AND I'M GRATEFUL THAT I can come to a house of GOD ON A PENTECOST Sunday and see people lift their hands AND JUMP AND SHOUT AND PRAISE GOD. THEY'RE NOT concerned about their neighbor. They're not concerned about what's going out in THE WORLD BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS IN HERE AND he inhabits the praises of his people. Amen. Can we give the Lord a hand clap? It's the birthday. It's a celebration. We're not looking backward at a historical monument. No, Pentecost isn't reduced to a historical event. The church today is alive. Amen. Christ is being preached. Lives are being saved. Homes are being put back together. This is indeed the church's greatest hour. We read it. They were all filled. So, I've come to ask you a question. How much room do you have in this earthly vessel today? How much room do you have in your earthly vessel? Because I've come into this house today to say, I don't want to just be filled, but I want to overflow in the spirit. Amen. I want to overflow in the presence of God. And so what does that mean? What does it mean to live in the overflow? The word overflow means to flow over the brim. It means to be filled completely beyond human capacity. It means to to run over. Amen. Now, we have four kids at home and we know what it means to overflow. They go to pour the milk and the whole thing ends up on the floor. They go to pour a drink and it's like, how do you stop? I think we just spill it all on the table. And that's me. That's not even talking about the kids. But I've come today to tell you that that you and I, we don't have to be neat and we don't have to be pretty. Amen. No, the No, I I want to overflow in the spirit. Amen. I I've got enough that I have to do outside the four walls of this church. When I get into the house of God, when I get around like-minded believers, I want to get into the presence of God. I want to overflow in his spirit. Amen. Let me tell you what. God never intended for the Holy Ghost to be a tight, restricted, rationed out measure in your life. He didn't save you just so that you could barely drag your feet across the finish line. He didn't save you so that, you know, a baseball term that my son would understand. HE HE DIDN'T SAVE you so that you could slide into into uh home plate and the ball already in the hand of the catcher and the catcher touching you and it's up to the UMPIRE TO MAKE THE CALL WHETHER you're safe or you're out. He didn't call you to live that kind of life. NO, HE CALLED YOU TO LIVE A LIFE in the overflow so that you KNOW WITHOUT A SHADOW OF THE DOUBT, NO, I'M GOING TO BE SAVED. NO, I'M GOING TO BE SAFE. WHEN I CROSS THAT FINISH LINE, there's going TO BE A HEAVENLY JUBILEE BECAUSE ALL OF HEAVEN IS SAYING, "HE MADE IT. SHE MADE IT. THERE'S NO doubt in my mind. I'm living in the overflow." God wants us to shift our mentality in this house today out of one that is set to survival. And he wants to pull you into a revival mindset. Stop praying just to survive the weak. Amen. STOP PRAYING JUST TO BARELY make it past the devil's attacks. We serve a God without limits. Amen. We serve A GOD OF ABUNDANCE. WE SERVE the God of the overflow. AND HE SAYS, "I WILL FILL YOU past your brim." Amen. I will complete you. Amen. Our God promises us a life of abundance. I've come to tell the church today, stop praying for a lighter load and start praying for an overflow of his spirit. Amen. That is revival. That's revival. And so there are three dimensions to this overflow that belongs to each of us in this house today.
First, there is an overflow of joy. Psalm 16 and 111 says in thy presence is fullness of joy. In thy presence is fullness of joy. Many of us have lived in the world. Many of us have sought joy in places that we just couldn't find joy. Maybe the joy lasted just for a moment. But the word of God tells us that when I'm in the presence of God, that's where the fullness of joy is. I don't want it just a taste of joy. No, I want the fullness of joy. When the world around you is completely dry, your cup can run over because you aren't digging in a well that's in the dirt. When you're in his presence, you're plugged into an eternal unfailing spring of joy. And he inhabits the praises of his people. So when you need that joy, lift your hands. Lift your voices. Amen. Give him praise when you need joy because that's where the fullness of joy is.
Second, there's an overflow of power. Acts 1:8 says, "But you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you." That's a promise for you. That's a promise for me today. You will receive power when the Holy Ghost has come upon you. IS THERE ANYONE in here today that says, "I got the Holy Ghost. I've been filled with the Holy Ghost. I KNOW WHAT PENTECOST is about." Amen. This is the strength to tread on serpents, to overcome temptation, to walk in absolute victory, to be to be a witness. Oh my. To be a w. See, listen. I like treading on serpents. I like overcoming temptation. I like victory. But the introverts in the house, I got to open my mouth. We got to share what the Lord has done for us. Amen. Let me tell you what the word of God says in Revelation. It says that we overcame him, the the enemy, by the blood of the lamb. I had nothing to do with that. stand by the word of our testimony. I have control over that part. You have control over that part. If you need to overcome the enemy today, hey, God's already done his part. HE'S SAYING, "HEY, WHY DON'T YOU AND I JUST PARTNER up here? I'll give my blood if you'll tell others what I've done for you." Amen. See, there are people outside the four walls of this church that need to hear your testimony. and he gives us an overflow of his power.
Third, there is an overflow of influence. John 7:38 says, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers." It's going to flow rivers of living water. I need you to hear me today. See, you know, a bucket, it holds water just for itself. But a river, no. See, see a river, it changes the entire geography of the landscape around it, what it flows through, it changes everything around it. And people are drawn to the river. Amen. Cities are built around rivers. If you want people to flock to you because there's something different about you, maybe you just need that overflow of the presence of God in your life. Amen. It's time for us to tap into the spirit because when we tap into the spirit, there's an overflow of influence. How many of you have ever been to an amusement park? Maybe something like Dollywood. You get on one of those water roller coasters and you just go around and you go up and you get ready for that massive drop. See, the best part of that ride is all the spectators, especially the ones that have no idea what's about to happen. Grandma and grandpa out there about to take pictures of their grandbaby going down their first water slide. So excited. And as soon as that thing hits, the water throws up in the air and it splashes all over the people that are sitting there watching and everybody's like, "Oh no, I I just got wet." See, that's what happens when we have an overflow of influence. Amen. That's what God wants to do. He wants to pour in pour into you so much that it begins to overflow. and your family and your workplace and your neighborhood can't HELP BUT GET CAUGHT UP in that splash zone of what God is doing inside of you. Amen. Come on, church. I know that there are testimonies in this place. Amen. I know that there are testimonies of people that can say that when I got in the overflow of the Holy Ghost, it changed everything around me. It changed my home. It changed my family. It changed my workplace. When I got into the presence of God, people knew something was different. This isn't the power of positive thinking. It's a life in which we live in the overflow. Amen. Can we give the Lord a hand clap of praise?
I believe that the reason the overflow is unlimited is because it all comes down to the revelation of who is filling this earthly vessel. Amen. See, our culture, it's desperately looking for authenticity. They're tired of dead religion. They want to see Jesus. That's why Jesus told his disciples right before he went to the cross in John 16 and seven. He says, "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away. For if I go not away, the comforter, the Holy Ghost, will not come unto you. But if I depart, I will send him unto you. See, that word expedient really stands out to me because it means it's to your absolute advantage. Jesus looked at those men who walked with him, that talked with him, THAT SAW HIM CALM the raging seas, and he said, "You still need my spirit." And so, I've come to tell somebody today that if you've never received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues, today is your day. Amen. Jesus said, "It is your absolute advantage that I go so that you can receive my spirit." Ezekiel said that God would put his spirit within us. Joel said that he would pour it out on all flesh. And last time I checked, the word all means all. Jesus went to that cross as the spotless lamb to save you from your sins and to pour out his spirit so that you and I can live in the overflow. But the best part of all of it, and there's some bad theology out there, but the best part of all of it is Jesus did not send a substitute. He didn't send someone else. John 14:8 says concerning the Holy Ghost, I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to you. My friends, the Holy Ghost is not a third separate cosmic entity. Amen. The Holy Ghost is the very SPIRIT OF JESUS. I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS. I WILL COME TO YOU. What that means is is that when you receive the Holy Ghost, that same Jesus who opened the blinded eyes, that same Jesus who commanded the dead to rise fills your mortal body. Amen. It's an unstoppable advantage. I like that word advantage because it means that no matter what you face, you can live in the comfort of the overflow. You can be assured of what the Bible says that no weapon formed against you will prosper. Amen. I think that that's worth getting excited about. I think that's worth giving him some praise over right now. NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME. THE ENEMY HAS NO CONTROL over me. THE ENEMY CANNOT DESTROY ME. NO WEAPON formed against me will prosper because I'm living in the overflow of his spirit. Amen. Can we give the Lord a hand clap?
And the beautiful thing is is that when that fire hits you, it doesn't matter what your background is. It doesn't matter whether you're a brand new Christian or whether you are a veteran saint. Amen. When the fire of the Holy Ghost hits you, you are unstoppable. See, I I wasn't raised in this apostolic Pentecostal truth. I didn't grow up around shouting and and clapping and running the aisles. I never seen a church do what you did today for that beautiful family. When I came into a church service, I hope this is not a bad word here. You sat down, you shut up, and you didn't say a word. And I had a person tell me one time, they said, "What happened to you? You went from sitting down, shutting up, not saying a word, to going to a church where they're saying, "Why are you sitting down, shutting up, and not saying a word?" I'm grateful for what we have in this church. Amen. Are you grateful? I'm grateful. I'm here to tell you today, it doesn't matter what your home life looks like. It doesn't matter what your home life look like. It may be an obstacle right now, but Jesus tells us that he will fill us with his spirit. He will give us the power to overcome. Amen. See, my life, my home life was a mess surrounded by alcohol and drugs. Brother Vandy, Sister Andrea, know this. I didn't come from a legacy of prayer warriors in my house. But when I met Jesus in A PENTECOSTAL ALTAR, HE FILLED ME WITH THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST. IT CHANGED ME. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. IT CHANGED my home. Amen. IT CHANGED MY FAMILY. AND I'M STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT ALL THE HOUSE NEEDS TO BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY Ghost and with fire. See, the circumstances around me said that I couldn't make it. It said that I shouldn't make it. That environment in which I lived in said that if you get the fire, the Holy Ghost, it will be put out. I had religious people, and I kid you not, this is not just preacher talk today, but I had religious people look me in the eyes and say, "Hey, what you experienced wasn't true. You just got really emotional." Yeah, they told me that to my face, and I got real emotional. See, you can't argue with someone who's had a Pentecostal experience. Amen. See, this isn't fake. It's wonderful. It's powerful. I can relate TO WHAT THE PROPHET SAID. IT'S LIKE A FIRE THAT'S SHUT UP IN MY BONES. AMEN. It's power. AMEN. IT'S THE POWER OF THE OVERFLOW. And everything around you may be TRYING TO PULL YOU DOWN, but Amen. I've come to tell you, you can live in the overflow. And so in this room, there are witnesses. It's an advantage. Amen. Having the Holy Ghost, it is an advantage. There are witnesses in the house that can tell you it's real. There are witnesses in the house that can tell you this thing is contagious. And my neighbor sitting next to me needs it. Amen. And my neighbor across the street needs it. And that person I go to work with and those people I go to school with, oh, this thing's contagious. And they need it. They need the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
I want to tell you about how contagious this thing is. I I worked for years when I was in college at a restaurant, barely making it, trying to survive, pay the bills, go to school, all that stuff. And I was pursuing the ministry as well. And I tried my best to be a good witness. I tried my best to win everybody that I worked with. I probably had some people quit, too. I can't stand to be around that preacher man. Amen. But there was a lady in the church. We called her brother Sam. Where's he at? Hey, we called her big mama. That's what she told us to call her. And she was she was like a mother to a lot of us that worked there. Good Baptist lady, wonderful heart, wonderful mother, wonderful wife, but through some unfortunate situations in her life, found herself in a place in which I could say she was very close to rock bottom. And it was during that moment in which God opened up an opportunity for me to start teaching her a Bible study through Zoom. Every Tuesday, Brenda and I meet for a Bible study. I've taught all kinds of Bible studies. People ask me all the time which one's my favorite. And I guess it just depends on what mood I'm in today. It's kind of like ice cream. What's the flavor of the day? And so I was praying, you know, because the Lord had opened up this opportunity. And I said, "God," I said, "You know, she knows she knows quite a bit about you. She feels like she has a relationship with you. What Bible study can I teach her to show her that there's more?" And so, we just started a Bible study just walking through the book of Acts. I thought, what Bible study would be better than the word of God? And so we're walking through Acts. And uh if you've ever read the book of Acts, you know that there's a lot of Holy Ghost. There's a lot of speaking in tongues. There's a lot of miracles. There's a lot of Pentecostal fire in the book of Acts. We see the birthday of the church. We see the church on fire. We see it turning the world upside down. We see the church being persecuted but getting stronger day by day. They didn't throw in the towel. And we're reading this and she stops me. I did not say a word to her about needing the Holy Ghost. We're about three or four four days into this Bible study. Never said a word to her about it. And she stopped me. She said, "Hank," she said, "Is it bad that I never wanted the Holy Ghost?" And I said, "Let me ask a clarifying question here. Are you saying, is it bad that you didn't want the Holy Ghost, or are you saying, "Is it bad that I didn't know I could receive the Holy Ghost?" And she said, "Oh no, that second part. Is it bad that I did not know that I could receive the Holy Ghost?" I said, "Brenda, you may not have known it, but you know it now." And this is the words that came out of her mouth. She said, "Yes, and I want it. I can't wait for it to happen to me." And I said, "Brenda, with an attitude like that, it's going to happen to you." Few weeks go by and she tags me in a post on Facebook. It's an ad, the Pentecostals of Goodletsville. They were hosting a Jesus tent revival. She saw that ad. She tagged me in it and she said, "Hank, when are we going?" And I said, "You tell me what day we're going and I'll go with you." And so we showed up at the Jesus Tent Revival. She brought her Baptist pastor friend with her. Pastor Spanky. You know, only in Tennessee you get these names. He introduced it. Pastor Spanky. I said, "Well, I'm Hanky. Nice to meet you." They get into the service, man. God is moving in a mighty way. People are repenting. People are people were lined up to be baptized before the service had even started. People were being healed. And then at some point during the service, the preacher says, "If you need the Holy Ghost, today's the day for you to get the Holy Ghost. I want you to come out to the front." And Brenda looked at me and Spanky looked at me and I said, "You all ready?" And they said, "I'm ready." See, that's the kind of attitude you have to have. You can't be scared and timid. You got to say, "If the Bible says I can do it, I'm going to do it." Amen. And so they make their way down to the front and I don't know the last time you checked, but it looks like I'm there's only one of me. And so Brenda's here and Spanky's back there and I'm like, this is being tell this is being recorded. I probably shouldn't say what I thought. She meant more to me. Okay, you get what I'm saying? And so I'm praying with Brenda and as I'm praying for her, I look back behind her and Spanky's just back there just speaking in tongues. I mean, it hit him as soon as he opened his mouth. This facial expression was what I I'm praying. Okay. So, I keep praying for her. Well, at some point she finally lets her tongue go and she lets just a little bit of tongues out, the stammering lips, you know. And as soon as she did, she does this and she goes like that. Looks looks me right in the eyes. And I said, "What?" And she said, "What was that?" And I said, "That's the Holy Ghost, Brenda." And she said, "Oh, that's crazy." And I said, "Hey, turn around." And she turned around, looked at Spanky, and I said, "You see what he's doing? He's just going to town speaking in tongues. I said, "Do you see what he's doing?" She said, "Yeah." I said, "That's what you're going to do." And she said, "Okay." So, she turns around, we start praying. Every time the Holy Ghost would hit her, she'd open her eyes again like, and I said, "What is wrong with you?" And she says, "I feel like I'm being electrocuted." I said, "That's the Holy Ghost, Brenda." I said, "Just let your tongue go." And that's exactly what she did. God filled her with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Filled Spanky with the Holy Ghost. Amen. I got done praying for her. I went to him. I said, "Brother," I said, "Have you done this before?" He goes, "No, it's the first time." I said, 'Wow, you act like you were a professional. I said, "Now, here's the thing. I'll never tell you you received the Holy Ghost. You got to tell me." And said, So, I said, "Brother Spanky, did you hear yourself speak in tongues?" And he goes, "If that's not tongues, I don't know what is." And I said, "I'm with you, buddy." That's what God will do. Amen. I found out right before that service was over that two weeks before that Spanky had had a heart attack and almost died. And he said, "I feel like God brought me back for a reason." And it was for tonight. I've kept in contact with them since then. Sunday rolls around, Brenda calls me, says, "You need to call Spanky." And I thought, "Oh no, what's happened?" Ain't it funny how you just immediately go negative with all this? So I call him up Monday morning. I said, "Brother, how you doing?" He said, "I am on fire, Hank." He said, "God," when he filled me with the Holy Ghost, he said, "I cannot get over this." He said, "I walked into my Baptist church and I walked up to that pull pit, we hadn't even started service, and I started screaming at the congregation and I said, "I'M SO TIRED OF US HAVING DEAD CHURCH. I'M SO TIRED OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD NOT MOVE. I'M TIRED THAT NOBODY'S GETTING SAVED IN THIS CHURCH. I WENT TO A TENT REVIVAL. GOD FILLED ME WITH THE HOLY GHOST. I SPOKE IN TONGUES. I know he's real. And this is a dead church. AND I'M TIRED OF IT. That is what living in the overflow looks like. Amen. It looks like walking into a denominal church, being filled with THE HOLY GHOST, AND NOT CARING WHAT THE CONGREGATION THINKS. But I'm going to PREACH THE WORD OF GOD. I'M GOING TO TELL YOU WHAT'S MISSING FROM YOUR LIFE. And it's UP TO YOU. YOU'RE EITHER GOING TO CONNECT WITH GOD OR YOU'RE NOT. BUT I'M GOING to share the truth with you. Amen. God is good. So, let me play with someone today. We cannot let Pentecost, we cannot let Isuza Street, we cannot let the day that you were initially filled with the Holy Ghost be the last time that that happens. It cannot be a historical event that you and I just merely look back on. Amen. But it has to be a daily walk. We have to be filled every single day. We can live in the overflow. Amen. Give the Lord a hand clap of praise if you want to be living in the overflow.
And so why did he give us the fire? Matthew uh 3 and 11, John the Baptist said, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but he that cometh after me is mightier than I am, whose shoes that I'm not worthy to bear. He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire." And so that fire, the purpose of the fire is to purify this earthly vessel. And when the church of the living God is living in the overflow, that authentic joy makes the community around us take notice. They'll want what you and I have. Amen. They'll be like Brenda. They'll be like Pastor Spanky who says, "You know what? Sign me up." If the Holy Ghost is for you, it's for me. Sign me up. I want it right now. Amen. I believe that's what this community wants because it's real. God's spirit is real. I I'm in a church right now that believes that the spirit of God is real and that everybody around us needs it. See, this city doesn't need another marketing campaign. It doesn't need another program. But what it needs is for spiritfilled apostolic believers to step outside the four walls of this church, look at a broken world, and offer them what we have. Silver and gold have I none, but such AS I HAVE, GIVE I unto thee. Amen. RECEIVE YE THE HOLY GHOST. SEE, when you're living in the overflow, everyone you touch is affected. Amen. I want you to think about that. The fire of the Holy Ghost is blazing on the inside of you and you carry the atmosphere of heaven everywhere that your feet steps. And so, we aren't just surviving in this world. We're not just surviving in the dark. No, we're completely overriding it with every step that we take. Amen. Every step we take. Forget about this little light of mine. I'm going to let it shine. I'm going to tell you what it is. this blazing fire inside of me. I'm gonna light this whole place on fire. Amen. And watch it shine. My dad told me, he said, Hank, he said, I had an uncle. I My family, man, Brother Vandy knows this. They're mountain people. They are mountain folk. Amen. My dad told me, he said, "My uncle, I don't I don't even remember the the reason why he did this. I just remember what the outcome was. He said that his uncle was out in the woods up on the mountain and he was trying to burn something that he wasn't supposed to be burning. That's all I know and that's all I want to tell you. Burning something that he wasn't supposed to burn. And he said, next thing you know, the entire side of the mountain had caught fire. Rescue trucks, fire departments, everybody was trying to get out there to put out the entire side of the mountain was on fire. And my dad said that cities saw what your uncle had done. If that's what one man can do, what can this church do? When we allow the blazing fire of the Holy Ghost, it's not me by myself, but it's me and my wife and my kids and my brother and my sister. Amen. A room full of Pentecostals who's going to say, "I'm going to catch my city on fire." Amen. Amen.
I'll ask that our musicians come. See, I love our Pentecostal services. I love our worship. I love our preaching. I love our fellowship. I love our doctrine. But the truth is is that if we are not careful, if we are not living in the overflow, then we can become critical of God's people. I can't worship to that song. I can't relate to that message. I didn't get fed. Me. Me. Me. And then there's this thing called life. Life happens. Trials of the week, unexpected news, the bills getting tight, family stress. The enemy is throwing fiery darts at our mind, day in and day out. He's good at being the devil. He's just a pesky little booger. And if we're not careful, that daily pressure will begin to dampen the fire that we have. And see, some of you didn't walk into the sanctuary today just overflowing in the Holy Ghost. You didn't look at the calendar and say, "It's Pentecost Sunday. Maybe maybe I just better tap into the spirit." No. You You walked into this place and if I can say it this way, you were leaking a little bit. You walked into here and you were exhausted. You had to put a smile on your face. See, we're all about shaking hands, but you didn't feel like shaking hands today. But with everybody you talked to, you said, "Praise the Lord, I'm doing great." But on the inside, you are running on absolute fuse. And you've been praying, "God, please take away the trouble. I just want to survive. I just want to I just want to make it another day. I I just need a breather, God, if you'll help me. My family, we've been there. I've told my wife before when anxiety hits and decision has to be made. I've said, "I feel like I'm under the ocean and the only thing that I've been given is a straw and I'm just trying to catch my breath. I know I'm not alone here." And that's when God began to speak to me about this message. He told me that Pentecost was never intended to be a one-time event. He began to show me the importance of the overflow and living in the overflow. This past Friday, I had a wonderful conversation with a dear friend of mine. He was raised in the church. He comes from a good, godly family, but he has personally spent years running away from the altar. He has spent years out in the world trying to outrun a call that God had on his life. My friends, you can run as fast as you can, but you can't outrun the love of God. And it may have taken years, but right there that Friday night, I got to witness as Jesus was beginning to heal the life of a dear friend of mine. And I've come to tell somebody who just stepped back through those double doors when you came into the church that God didn't bring you here to look at your record of failures. He brought you here to give you a prescription for your restoration. Amen.
And so I've come to encourage somebody. Don't give up on that family member. Don't throw in the towel on your son or your daughter. Don't give up on that friend of yours because Jesus has given us a prescription for their restoration. And that prescription is called the altar. That prescription is called the baptism of the Holy Ghost. All the house was filled. And so whether you've come in here today and you've never received the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues or perhaps you're a seasoned saint, but it's been a long time since you've submitted to the power of his spirit. I've come here to encourage somebody. Today is not the day to throw in the towel and give up. No, today is a day to start living in the overflow. Stand with me. I'm here to tell someone that every drop of sweat you wasted in the world, he's going to replace it today with the oil of the Holy Ghost. He sees exactly where you've been. He knows exactly what you've been doing. And he didn't write a warrant for your arrest. No, he wrote a prescription for your recovery. And it's here in the house today. Amen. Jesus said, "I'll give you my peace." You see, peace is not the absence of trouble. It's the peace of God in the middle of it. So, I can be in a category five hurricane, but when the spirit of God comes upon me, I can rest in the storm. Church, it's prayer time. These altars are open right now. I encourage every single person in this place, come down here today. Come on down to the altars. Grab the hand of your of your wife or your your husband. Grab the hand of your child. Amen. Grab the hand of your friend, your neighbor, and say, "Come on down to the altar with me." There's an overflow of his presence waiting. Amen. There's an overflow of the Holy Ghost in the house. Amen. Come on, let's just lift our hands all across the room today. It's Pentecost Sunday. It's Pentecost Sunday. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. And that means you and that means me. Come on, lift your hands. &
