Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

One book, one subject: Jesus

  • The Bible is like a puzzle of many thousands of pieces - words, letters, chapters, and verses in 66 books by some 40 authors - and the picture on the box is Jesus Christ: when you finish the message it should look like him.
  • John supposed that if everything Jesus did were written down, even the world could not contain the books; so the record was kept to what can be carried.
  • Someone is coming runs through the whole book: the Old Testament says someone is coming, the gospels say that someone is here, and the rest of the Bible says that same someone is coming again.

Scriptures: John (book-only, as spoken)

The problem: a just God and a Savior

  • The Lord said in Malachi: I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. He does not change his mind, his place, his side, or his methods.
  • In Genesis the price was fixed at the tree: of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
  • In Isaiah God declares what he has said from ancient time: there is no God beside me, a just God and a Savior, and he calls all the ends of the earth to look unto him and be saved.
  • Justice demands the punishment the law pronounced, yet he is also a Savior; somehow he must execute the law of death and still save the same man he has judged.

Scriptures: Malachi 3:6; Genesis 2:16-17; Isaiah 45:21-22

The missing part is a substitute

  • Between the justice of God and the Savior there had to be something in between; in the garden the first blood was shed and an animal took the place of Adam and Eve, who covered themselves with fig leaves.
  • At the altar of earth in Exodus, the offerings were to be made in all places where he records his name: whenever a sacrifice was offered, his name was to be mentioned, because it was never about the lamb - someone was coming.
  • Abraham stayed his hand and found the ram caught in the thicket, and the lamb was sacrificed instead of Isaac; Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Samuel, and David all built altars because they needed something between them and the justice of God.
  • Job longed for someone who could lay his hand on God and lay his hand on him; there was nobody who could stand in between.

Scriptures: Exodus 20:24; Job (book-only, as spoken)

Fifteen hundred years of rollover

  • For about 1500 years the sacrifices were offered year by year, but they were shadows and types, not the substance; it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins, so the debt was rolled over to the next year.
  • The one who would get in between had to be next of kin - flesh and bones like us, able to pay the whole rollover, and willing; though he was rich, yet he became poor, and heaven itself was made poor to buy back our souls.
  • No one takes his life; he lays it down willingly, and while we were yet sinners he paid the price - the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, foreordained before the foundation of the world.

You died in your Substitute

  • In the Civil War a drafted man could hire a substitute to fight in his name and in his stead; one whose substitute was killed was relieved of a second draft, because when his substitute died, he died in his substitute - there could be no double jeopardy.
  • Jesus took the bullets, the crown of thorns, the pierced side, and the plucked beard in your name; you should have died on Calvary, but you died with him and nevertheless you live.
  • The keys of death, hell, and the grave are already won; do not let the devil lure you back into a battle that is already over - someone is here, and that someone is coming again, so be ready.

give that hand clap to the Lord you can be seated thank you so much how honored sister Osborne and I are already made me cry about three times I'm such a ball bag we're honored and privileged to be here on this glorious occasion of recognizing the 40 years anniversary and 40 Years of uh Pastor oal work you're probably wondering how they got launched in their marriage and in preaching you know Boeing's had some trouble getting things launched and uh I was those guys I'd want to sit back a little while maybe we ought to go over this one more time you know before we what about three or four times they couldn't launch turn it down I rode on their airplanes and uh boing used to make a pretty good plane but i' I've fallen twice last year and both of them broke and uh fell apart in the sky one of them the Hydraulics went out on it we were the first commercial flight in the hydraulic well everything on a plane's hydraulic the restroom doors are hydraulic you know everything's hydraulic so the other one piece of Steel fell out of the ceiling as we were Landing fell right in the highway or I would own Boeing right now but it missed me I'm glad for it now they've got all these problems and I'm thinking maybe they ought to you wonder you wonder how things get launched how things get off the pad you know well now that Boeing's got one up in space somewhere and they can't get it back down that's what I worry about you going up may not be a problem but you know we need to get back down you wonder how sister Carpenter got launched into this glorious 40 years of marriage and 40 Years of pastoral work and I wrote a little thing here the best of my memory which is got it up here in this rubber trap so uh I don't hold things a long time but I'm do my best to kind of recollect what it was like we launched these two I don't know how long you've been married just got married I believe when you came in Priest Camp me in Indiana so they Newly Weds they had just gotten married and came to Indie to preach our camp meeting the north being very sensitive to the needs of these new Weds gave them an intimate Cabin in the Woods where they can enjoy their Fellowship the cabins was rather rustic there was only one hinge left on the door and no lock but we furnished them with a big red brick to hold it shut the window was broken out from the previous camp and we fixed that with a 30- gallon trash bag it was quiet out there in nature except for the raccoons and verman who were cleaning up the food from the last camp we try to take good care of our guest speakers the hospitality basket consisted of two root beers with a camp and seals already broken we convinced them that it happened in transit had one bag of Cheese Nips that had been set on one box of Cracker Jacks we told them for their sacrifice they could keep the prize inside the welcoming note was done by a child with a crayon we thought it was special so they could put it on the refrigerator to remember us by that is if Kenny could ever make enough money to buy one my memory is a little cloudy but I believe 22 got the Holy Ghost 16 got healed of terminal diseases boy that was a team that Kenny and Penny was to show our sincere appreciation we gave them a check and I heard Kenny say to his new wife as they drove away don't worry honey when we get home we'll let the paper boy cash it that's what launched them into this great ministry from Indiana I'm glad to be a part of it as weak as the part was to a newlywed couple how great their lives have been and the impact they've had on us you know preaching to some of these young guys they think it's just you know if you're going to preach on faith look up every place the word faith is used in the Bible then just tell them all you know he's preached probably I'm guessing around 400 sermons in his 40 years that's not including Mission work and overseas and church fellowships and church church anniversary service and pastor appreciations and all that kind of stuff just adds to it you know preaching is an art s it's an art form really I'm not saying that I have it I just said you can know what it is and still not have it you know said a young man who refused his degree it's tough enough being tweetle without being tweetle DD that's kind of that's kind of my life be that as in made by the carpenter is a is a preaching he preached at in in uh GMC about the family Altar and how important it was in your home blessed so many people with his ministry throughout the years and throughout his life I value that his fellowship and our friendship that we have that we have enjoyed preaching is a I don't mean to tell you something you don't know I'm just trying to help you to a realizing you know because the Bible is somewhat like uh maybe a 31,000 piece puzzle in this book containing this puzzle there are the following in the King James version there are 78313 words in the same version there are 3,164 180 letters the Bible has been divided into 1,189 chapters in these chapters there are 31,1 two verses all this is written in 66 books by some 40 different authors in the Old Testament there are 631 things you should do and not do putting the different pieces together in a current message will test your ability to preach like a common puzzle there's one essential part that you need to be success in putting the puzzle together is intended there's a picture on the box to show you what it should look like when you're finished if this has air balloons on the box and yours looks like a country picture with a horse in it you probably got some pieces in the wrong places I've heard some sermons like that someone say that we have no picture we have no guide It's just 7 8333725815 wonderful works that he has done many many many he doesn't try to number them he said there are many wonderful works that thou Hast done and thy thoughts which are to us word cannot be reckoned up every time you have thought about us and every time you wrote something that you were thinking of us it can't even be reckoned you can't even add that up how many times you have been on the mind of God is Not countable it's not something that you could assess and come to a conclusion about it then he said can I be reckoned up if I would declare to speak of them they are more than can be numbered I can't even begin to add up everything that you said and everything that you've done John said I supposed to be wrote down everything Jesus did even the world couldn't contain the book that's a little hyperb on his part but nevertheless it would be something the word canot c to so he had to keep it down to a minimum so he could carry it or be like this robod in a suitcase when they waited my heart's pounding you know it's going to cost us another $50 I can tell by this thing you know he's a forklift to put it up on the scales so all these things that the Lord has done and put in this book for us when you're going to when you're going to preach out of this book all the letters and words and chapters and verses all the authors in the 66 books they make one volume and and and and and and Jesus Christ Alone is the subject when you finish your message it should look like Jesus Christ he is the overriding relevance of each and every piece of this puzzle when you get finished it's supposed to look like him yes supposed to look like him not like you but look like him so I appreciate men who can pick this book up with all there is in it and make something reasonable and understandable out of it it's a complicated book it's not easy and I appreciate your pastor and his precious wife for all they have done and they're singing about prayer I'm just kind of Meandering right now just a little bit I'm a great meanderer my family were all this please understand my family were all Baptist I thank God for them they were all down in Kentucky you know they were didn't kind of Backwoods kind of people and uh me this made they were good people and uh and they and a couple of them came to Indianapolis to try to find work they were tired of being tired of being Farmers came to find work and they got a half double and uh he finally found a job and his wife did not find it she was going to just stay at home they have no furniture didn't have anything at 2:00 in the afternoon she could hear somebody praying on the other side of the other half of the devil so like any good woman would she pulled her chair over put her ear against the wall to listen to this woman pray she never heard anything like it in her life I mean this woman was Rowdy she was talking in tongues and praising God and glorifying she had never heard that in her whole life she got infatuated with it so every day at 2:00 she pull her chair over and listen to her pray the woman didn't know that obviously so uh she finally told her husband about what had happened he didn't know part of it but Bertha his wife she she went to church lady finally invited her to church she went to church got baptized in Jesus name filled with the Holy Ghost it was amazing she told her husband about he said I don't want anything to do with that wild stuff you know I don't want anything to do with so she beged she pleased so one day she pulled two chairs over to the wall she said I just want you to sit there and listen you don't have to do anything just listen so he did and she was Rowdy again and she was no letting out she was talking in tongues and interpreting her own self and prophesying and everything else you could do you know and then he was just he was getting kind of uncomfortable so be that may he he he he he got baptized in Jesus name and got filled with the Holy Ghost they were two people in my whole family had an experience like that so he went back down to Kentucky and he found his sister and his sister's daughter and he bapti told them about this wonderful experience he had he he baptized both of them in Jesus name in a farm pond and uh as it turned out to try to make the story medium can't make it short so he uh his sister became my grandmother and her daughter became my mother and I owe everything I have managed in my life I owe it to a woman I've never met I don't know her name I don't know where she is I'm sure she's probably gone by now but she was a woman who prayed through a wall and never never knew anybody was listening to her prayer and I owe her my Ministry I owe her my life I owe her my salvation I owe my children I owe everything that I have I owe it to a woman I don't know her name I don't know where she came from I don't know anything about her all I know is she prayed every day through a wall not knowing anybody was listening if I can make Heaven my home if I can put these nine and a halfs on gold someday I'm going to scream to the top of my lungs I want to meet meet the woman who prayed through a wall I just want to tell her how much she got accomplished that she doesn't know anything about so when you pray there's no telling who's listening up against the wall that you don't know anything about them even listening but you're going to change their world you're going to change Tennessee and Tennessee don't even know you're they're they're just listening they may not even be praying but they will be listening and who knows what God will do if you just pray if you just pray like you can be seated from the beginning of time there has seemed to be a contradiction concerning God and His divine nature for which there seemed to be really no Remedy or no solution to it in my opinion at least the Lord said in the Book of Malachi 3:6 for I am the Lord and I change not therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed he claimed to himself that he does not change I don't change my mind mind I don't change places I don't change sides I don't change methods that's the security we have in the Lord he's not on your side today and then on somebody else's side tomorrow he doesn't change sides he's for you not against you so he doesn't change sides it doesn't change places doesn't change method I'm the same yesterday today and forever now this there some kind of a contradiction concerning this unchangeable God he said in the Book of Genesis and the Lord commanded the man saying of every tree of the garden thou May freely eat but the tree this will get better you're hoping that I'm sure Lord commanded the man saying of every tree in the garden thou M freely eat but the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil Thou shalt not eat for in the day thou eatest thereof thou will surely die you're not just going to get sick from it you're not going to get an upset stomach and this is not else something Elka El is g to take care of the day you eat of this tree you are going to die now I am God and I don't change there' be some no question no debate concerning the price they would pay for this sin you'll surely die without fail be confident no doubt without fail today you will die the rules are set the price is fixed I'm a God and I do not change here we go with a little Quirk it would seem in the middle of this in the book of Isaiah he reads they'll put it up on the screen for you I believe in the 45th chapter 12th verse assemble yourselves and come and draw near together ye that are escaped of the Nations that have no knowledge that set up wood of graven images and play to the god that cannot save tell ye and bring them near yet let make them take counsel together who have declared from this ancient time who have told it from the time have not I the Lord God said I've been saying something from the beginning of time I've been telling something from old and days I I I've been I've been preaching this to the world and to every generation that there is no God besides me now I'm telling you from the very beginning before there was ever a tick off the clock of time I'm telling you there is no God besid me now bring them together and let them argue the facts bring them all together so they can argue and fuss and debate and carry on but nobody ever get the Holy Ghost during a debate I was that generation people like love to debate one another you know this group would get without G they' have big congregation they' all be debate nobody ever got the Holy Ghost they just love and nobody ever changed their mind they just love to debate right I a grandfather like that I've said this from from time bring them near I've declared this from anxious time there's no God besides me I'm a just God and a savior here is the problem how can you exercise Justice and still be a savior there's a problem here because Justice demands punishment Justice demands that you shall die if you eat of that tree so how are you going to exercise your Justice and your judgment being an unchangeable God exercise Justice and still be a savior these two are diametrically opposed you can't get up and find a man guilty well maybe you can and then didn't let him go free be that as a made God said I I don't change I don't change sides I don't I'm not on your side then on the judge's side and I just don't change sides I can't call back the words that I've said but he said I am I am a just God and a savior he said there is none besides me that's who I am I am a just God and a savior now you can praise the Lord and bless God all day long for that fact right there that I am a just God I can judge a man that he ought to die then I can turn around and save the man how do you save somebody that you've already pronounced judgment on them and tell them you're going to die the day you eat of that tree you will die then turn right around and save the man there's a problem here I us to have problems with God CU he usually wins but it it's just something here that don't resonate quite right you know that you could be holding the gavel and you could say I find you guilty and and you're going to die fire up the electrocution turn the electricity up high this man's going to die get this sodium peny get the get the shot ready we're going to give it to him today he's got to die then turn right around and save the man what kind of a God does that he described himself is look unto me and be ye saved all the ends of the Earth for I am God and the ain't nobody else like me I'm nobody else like me that I can pronounce judgment on you then turn around and set you free ain't nobody like the Lord does things like that that this great there's great but there is a problem here to the average mind which mind's debatable but to the average mind there is a a problem here the idea of God being a just God and a savior it's not some new thing he says I planned this back in the ancient times before I ever spoke a world into existence before I ever said let there be anything I had this on my mind that I understand I'm going to have to be a judge and I'm going to have to be a savior somehow I got to reconcile judgment with savior good and somehow I've got to figure out a way to do that because there ain't nobody like me that can do that I I stand alone nobody besides me a just God and a savior even even though the price has been fixed and I do not I'm a God that does not change but I got to figure out a way that I can I can ex execute the law of death and then turn around and save the same man from his death and his own that my own word demanded of him this God told Adam in the day you eat of that you will surely die this is not a questionable thing you're going to die the day you eat of that and the eyes of them both were open and they knew that they were naked and they s figes Together made themselves aprons their knowledge of their own nakedness was the evidence they had sinned and eaten the forbidden fruit they tried to get some fig leaves and make the missing Park to save themselves from the justice of God and dying that very day Adam thought if they could cover up what they have done they wouldn't have to die that very day but God already had a plan declared from the Bible said the ancient of times God being a savior he had to find the missing part between Justice and savior good cuz you understand there has to be something missing here that you can exercise Justice exercise your own law and fulfill your own law and still be a savior there's some component that is missing here in all of this God being a savior found the missing part between Justice and savior the word substitute means below sub like Submarine sub sub flooring it's down below so somewhere between Justice and his blood to cover the sins of Adam the missing component between a just God and a savior was the first blood that was shed in the Garden of Eden between a just God and a savior that animal got in between the justice of God they were supposed to die but he found a substitute someone that was down below that that got in between the justice of God and the Savior good of God and the lamb gave its life instead of taking the life of Adam and Eve that satisfied the justice of God but also save them from the justice of God by finding that substitute that got between them the whole concept of a substitute was the missing link between a just God and a savior and this started the march of the altar down through scriptures which is mentioned about 378 times the altar saturates the old and most of the New Testament scriptures at the altar of Earth which Thou shalt make unto me he says in Exodus 20:24 and shall sacrifice there on thy burnt offerings thy peace offerings thy sheep and thy oxen in all the places where I record my name I will come to thee and I will bless thee they said when you get ready to offer a sacrifice on this altar he said I want you to mention my name I want you to say something see in the Old Testament the whole theme of the Old Testament is someone is coming someone is coming the gospels is that same someone is here the rest of the Bible is that same someone that was coming and is here is coming again there only three thoughts in the Bible someone is coming that someone is here and that same someone is coming back again now if you miss the first one you won't pay much attention to the second one and if you miss the second one you're going to be lost to the third one someone is coming and it's not a bulock it's not a it's not a lamb it's not a sheep it's not a he goat or a she goat or a pigeon or a turtle dob or anything else someone is coming he said whenever you mention the Altar and you're putting a sacrifice on it mention my name say something about me when you're offering up a lamb that it's not really about the lamb it's about someone else that's coming it's really not back the sacrifice of a heer or the sacrifice of her he go or a she goat it's not them he said just mention my name when you get around the altar cuz someone is coming someone is coming and they may be on their way it's coming back again it may be sooner than you ever believe I I can tell you when he's coming he's coming sooner than when you first believe it's quicker than when B don't teach nothing about he coming soon he's coming quickly soon implies you have time to get ready quickly implies there is no time to get ready I thought that was better than that but maybe it wouldn't wherever you at he said record my name don't forget who it was that designed this way don't forget who it was that designed this substitution idea a that would get between you and the justice of God and the Forgiveness of God there had to be something in between that could make those two things work and that was a substitute when Abraham was told to take Isaac up a place that God would show him and sacrifice this boy that you love so much he got up early in the morning went to offer sacrifice you know the story but I have to tell it again anyway Isaac says to him Lord where where is the sacrifice I understand we have to have a sacrifice he said the Lord shall proide provide himself a lamb for sacrifice and he drew Back the Knife getting ready to plch in Isaac and the Lord said Abraham stay your hand I see now that that that you obey me I see now that you have confidence in me don't don't don't kill him he said but look behind you well he's getting ready to kill it up here you know getting Justice cuz he's obeying the word of God I got to execute Justice on Isaac is going to pay for this he said look behind you now and then when you're getting ready to feel bad you feel down you need to take a look behind you there may be something back there that's going to bring a little substitution in your life and you may not have to die over this so he looked behind him and he saw a ram caught in the thicket by its horns and he drugg the lamb out of the thicket I would have been a treat to see right there how he drag a lamb drag drag a this this horned animal out of a Thicket get it up there and he sacrificed the the this this Ram he sacrificed it on the altar instead of Isaac the lamb got between the justice of God and the saving power of God and God saved Isaac Isaac by a substitute that got in the middle you are you with with me a little bit it's going to get better it's going to get better here in just a little bit Yeah cuz someone is coming do you believe someone is coming he's coming again Noah built an altar Abraham built an altar and Beth sich him in Hein Abraham built an altar there on the mountain for Isaac God showed Ram in the thicket Isaac built an altar Moses built an altar Samuel built an altar David buil this the altar building groups you ever know because need God they needed something to get in between them and the justice of God that's why every that's what an altar was for an altar Alters things that's why it's called an altar like when your clothes don't fit you have to alter them and it changes them when you come to the altar down here it Alters you that's why it's called an altar it Alters you it changes you you become something else well that wasn't too bad both the Tabernacle and the temple had an altar all all these altars were places of sacrificial death to get in between the justice of God and the savior of God blessing the United together by substitute the altar was the instrument of sacrificial death of a substitute the offering of a bull of gold calf a lamb pigeon heer whatever the substitute that saved the life of God's people these substitutes were sacrificial deaths preserving in the Integrity of the justice of God and offered his temporary power as a savior let me turn the corner here from Moses and the law to the New Testament of Jesus Christ it was about 1,500 years can you imagine for a moment how many animals were sacrificed as substitutes not just one time but year after year after year for 1,500 years they offered Bullocks he goats she goats Turtle does pigeons Rams Bullocks oxen all the sacrifices that were made trying to get something in between the justice of God and the Savior hood of God they needed a sub something below that that could intervene in behalf so they didn't die 1500 years trying to cover the sins of a Nation when when they came out of Egypt like there were 600,000 men who could fight there was probably about two million of altogether others so if you just take just say there's two million of them two million people for for for500 years that sacrifice and sacrifice how many sacrifices would that take how many animals do you have to kill to get something in between the two for the law of the Bible said having a shadow of good things to come here again someone's coming this was just a shadow of some good thing that was on its way and not the very image of the thing can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the Commerce too perfect it could not complete the substitution it could not make the substitution value they did it because God was trying to get a snap done here trying to get something done until he could get here in time to save the entire world not just Israel but saved the entire world but it says for all they did for 1500 years all the sacrifices and all the altars that were ever built he said it could not it could not do anything for them because for 1500 years trying to satisfy the justice of God that he might be their Savior and save them from Death of penalty because the law had good things to come and not the very image of the thing can never listen to me can never with those sacrific which they offered year by year continually make the commer too perfect it could not complete the bridge between the justice of God and the Savior hood of God no matter what you put in between it could not perfect or make complete what needed to be done trying to satisfy the justice of God for the law had a shadow of good things then the fourth verse he sums it all up for it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away s it could not take away the Judgment of God could not take it away so what did they do God just rolled it over until the next year because the next year they remembered again the goat has come back home that they sent away everything is right back like it was we're still conscious of our sins it couldn't perfect anything because it's not possible you know for 1500 years you're trying to do the impossible Israel and all of Israel was attempting to do that which was not possible but God made stop Gap method till he could get here with a bulock and a lamb and a ram they were all allegorical they were all types and they were all Shadows they were not the substance that could actually take away sins you know you can live your whole life doing little tricks that you think impresses God or saying things or doing things or coming to some kind of a ritual but it's not possible to get between the justice of God and the Savior hood of God you're going to need something that can take it away forever and ever and ever and ever and ever ever cuz you have to keep doing the other over and over and over and over and over and over and over and every Sunday morning you got to do the same thing say the same thing but it's not possible it's not that you wouldn't have a good heart or you wouldn't honest in what you're doing but it's just not possible for them to do that and it get between you can't put a bulock between the justice of God and and the and and the saving power of God it ever saved anybody so it's like it's kind of like the I know you folks never done it but you got plenty of money but if you can't pay for your car you still ow two years on it but you want a new one you know that's not me you know I've never well I ain't going to say it but I'm not afraid to say it I've never had a car payment in my life cuz I buy old cars you I put screwdrivers in no windows to hold them up yeah cuz of Windows all went out in my car power windows you know there was an old car and the power windows they were new and they all fell down Windows fell down in the door you know you got to take the thing off the inside of here and pull them up and put a screwdriver in to hold them up you know but I use good screwdrivers I use Craftsman screwdrivers you know I'm cheap with cars but I I use good screwdrivers you know my wife said aren't you embarrassed to go to somebody to preach for somebody and I said not really you know it's better than a car payment so I just I can buy screwdrivers better than I can buy another car you know so I just put screwdrivers in there you know they're real Handy at drive-throughs you got to be careful you take the screwdriver that thing will go up before you get it so you got to kind of let it down like that you know and tell them I want to give me a basket of french fries and I want a double hamburger then you got to push it back up cuz you can get your wallet now CU you got to push it back up put your screwdriver back in there you know and I was driving on the interstate with my screwdrivers and uh roll along pretty good car pulled up beside me toed the horn I looked over at him as a Mercedes went gold package that gold hand gold door gold all over you know and it was some girl in our church used to be in our church she's backslid and uh she married a lawyer she she's she's she's she's just about half a bubble off to begin with you know she's not right to begin with and so she's tooting her horn at me and I looked I looked around my screwdriver and I said hey that's that's so and so over there you know she's waving at me you know I said God this is not not right it's not right she's backslid she's just 30 Steps From Hell to begin with and she's and she's tooting her horn at me she wants me to see her and she's driving a new Mercedes with a gold package on it I'm driving four screwdrivers and a three-legged dog here with this car I'm driving you know that ain't the way it's supposed to be lord it's not supposed to work out like that you know I'm your servant I serve you a do my best for you Lord and I'm uh uh and the Lord didn't care he didn't care he didn't care he said this will build character in you it build a little hatred in me too about get treated like that you know but see when you don't buy a new car you want to buy a new car but you ain't paid off your old car they'll take however much you ow on the old car and they roll it over into your new payment because you got to pay for it I mean just because you want a new car don't mean you just throw the ow one away you you still got to pay for it however much you ow one it they just keep rolling it over can you imagine how much Israel owed when they kept rolling it over year after year for 1,500 years they never paid for one sin never paid for one not a bulock not a creature on earth could get in between and solve the problem of the justice of God and the mercies of God so he kept rolling it over and rolling it over and rolling and over and rolling it over after 1500 years Solomon didn't have enough money to pay for it he could have not he could have hawked everything he had he could not have paid because if you're going to be a redeemer and buy somebody back first you got to be a next of kin little nod be good right here I'm used to a Baptist nod just a little Baptist nod here yeah I believe what yeah yeah had to be an next of K God could not do it because he's not an ex ofkin whatever you want to think about him Jesus said handle my feet because the spirit doesn't have Flesh and Bones so he's not My Kinsman when it comes to my flesh I don't want to destroy your position here but he's a spirit they thought they' seen a spirit when they seen Jesus come walking in but you can't see a spirit because it doesn't have Flesh and Blood and Bones he said give me something de feeling me I'm not I'm not a spirit I'm I'm Flesh and Bones he had to whoever's going to get between you justice of God and the mercies and cleansing power of God is going to be have your next of kin he's going to have to be close to you he's going to have to be somewhat like you and a bull and a heer and a he goat and a she goat ain't like you we got to have somebody like us who is the next of kin he's got to feel like we feel he's got to talk like we talk he's got to care like we care he's got to have the attributes that we have they kept saying somebody's coming somebody's coming but the debt is getting so high who could ever pay that debt I'll tell you who CU though he was rich he became poor that's how much it cost to save you it broke it it bankrupt Jesus Christ it bankrupt heaven to get enough together to buy your soul back from sin it made Heaven poor Jesus Christ became po poor why cuz he's paying trying to get in between you the justice of God and the saving power of God and being next of kin he had to pay off your debt well how much did you owe for, 1500 years or rolling it over and rolling it over and rolling it over and rolling over and he's ready to pay all the rollover he's ready to pay all the present debt he's ready to pray all the future death but it made him poor he had to be born in a stable because there's no room for him and all the else that he went through to be poor so he could pay over your rollover cuz you keep saying you're going to change but you don't you keep saying things are going to be different but it's not you just keep rolling it over rolling it over and rolling it over but someone is coming someone is coming he's he's just about here but he ain't quite here yet but when he gets here it's going to break the bank it's going to bust the budget it's going to make everybody poor Heaven and Earth spent all that it had to buy back the rollover in your life and all of the 1500 years of animals and creatures and altars that have ever been built he had to be a kin you had to be able and you had to be willing Jesus said nobody takes my life I'm willing I'm going to lay it down scarcely would he die for a good man that's what your Bible says scarely for a righteous man could you find anybody die but he declared his love to us that while we were yet sinners he paid the price of the rollover in your life and for 1500 years and all the roll over from the future he paid it all because he was willing he was a Kinsman and he was able to get between the justice of God and the savior of God there had to be something in between and it's called a substitute he did not die for your sins he did not die for his own sins he died for yours and that would be scarcely to find a person who was a Kinsman who was able and who is willing those three characteristics demanded in someone that was going to buy you back and that's mostly the good part CU job laments that there is no man that can lay his hand on God and then lay his hand on me because I don't have anything in between because he could lay his hand on God and understand the justice of God but then he'd have to lay the other hand on me and understand I need a savior he said there is nobody like that I got friends but they won't put their hands on me they can't put their hands on God job hoped that someone was coming down the road somewhere there would be kinship kinship that someone would come and save him this rollover continued the Bible said as you are not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold with your vain conversation received tradition from your fathers but with the precious blood of Christ as the lamb without blemish and without spot who barely was foreordained before the foundation of the world but has been manifested in these last times for you God decided before he would speak a world into existence he understood he was a just God but he also understood this creation would need a savior and how to get from savior Hood how to get from Justice to savior Hood was impossible so there had to be something get in between which would be a substitute someone that would be sub that would get in between down below Justice and just above savior hood that could save the souls of men over the world I've look for a an example perhaps of this that would help you in my closing and uh maybe you know this maybe you don't during the American Civil War anyone who is drafted for military service had the right to hire a man to serve in his stead The Substitute could not be a person available for military service under the conscription conscription was the same thing you've been drafted act it had to be fit for duty this provision was heavily criticized events the Congress abolished it on December the 28th 1863 under the Confederate con destion law a drafty could evade service by hiring someone who was exempt from the draft to replace him the enrollment Act of 1863 provided that the draft could pay a substitute en rolly a sum of $300 about $5,000 in today's terms in order to enlist his place so if you did not want to fight in the Civil War and you had been drafted or constricted into fight you could go out on the streets and P find somebody that would be your substitute and who would go to war for you who would go to war for your place it cost you $300 in that day which would be about $3,000 today so the rich seldom fought in the Civil War it's the people who had no money who were poor that fought the battles grew over Cleveland John D Rockefeller both took advantage and bought their way out of service they sent another person in who went in in their name and their stead and fought in the Civil War as their substitute for them Abraham Lincoln did not fight in the Civil War he was too old to fight but he hired a man to fight for him if you could put that that up on the screen for me that the first one I believe no no not that one the other one there this is this is Abraham Lincoln's where he signed it he's got his name on there where he signed the conscription that he would pay somebody I've got the man's name and how tall he was blond-haired man that he hired to go into the Civil War and fought in his dead fought in his name and against so he didn't have but it was it was the fact he was too old to go but the north needed men and so men could buy substitutes for $300 that would go into the Civil War and fight in your Stead there were my the next picture just show put it up there please this was a this was in the newspapers there is Brokers that run ads in newspapers wanted wanted wanted 1,000 sub substitutes they're looking for men because there are other men that didn't want to go fight so they were looking for substitutes so this man broker in the newspaper looking for substitutes that could come in and and take take your place in battle and they literally fought in your name they fought in your stead some of them lived and some of them did not one man whose substitute he had paid to go into battle for him he got killed in a few weeks or months after he got killed the government sent him a a notice that he was being drafted back into the military to fight he took it to court and fought it and he said that man was fighting in my name and he was fighting for me so when that man died I died in my substitute cuz he went to battle for me he fought in my name he fought in my stad therefore when my substitute died I died in my substitute the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States prohibits Double Jeopardy you can't charge me with two things there's only one thing you can charge me for and I've already served in the military by my substitute now you can't be put back in the military it caused me to die again because I've already served my time and therefore my substitute was fighting my battle for me therefore you cannot double jeopardize Me by wanting me to go back in the and the government relieved him of fact you don't have to go to battle twice you died for every substitute that died there was a man that was set free and he doesn't have to go and fight I just wanted to let you know in the close of this service you don't have to fight your battle cuz somebody's already went to war for you has already fought in your name for you and paid the price for that he laid down his life so you don't have to fight he sacrificed himself so you don't have to go to war he took the bullets he took the pain he took the crown of thorns he took the Pierce side he took the spittle he took the pluck beard he took it all in your name cuz it was all designed for you but Double Jeopardy still doesn't work and the Lord said I did it all for you I didn't do it for myself I didn't have to do it I just did it in your name because I loved you and now that I I have died you died in me how does that work I died in you the Bible said you you're dead with Christ nevertheless you live well how can that work if you're dead how can you live cuz he was your substitute that's how you live you should have died on Calvary but you're alive that's right you died with him nevertheless you're alive you explain it to me then how can you be dead and still live there has to be something in between there a sacrifice that went to war for you fought every devil in hell and every ition in every problem you know how much it cost it killed him it killed him he was so poor and he died and was buried in a buried grave nevertheless he rose again on the third day and therefore we have life and we have it more abundantly because I've already died in my substitute therefore I don't have to fight I don't have to worry you go s he goes we goes let's lift our hands and Worship the Lord just a moment would you you need to know something about this Jesus that loved you so much and cared so much about you that he paid for all the rollover all the times you said you wanted to change but you didn't he paid for all of that he paid for all the future you don't have to fight your battles you don't have to go to war you don't have to take bullets cuz he cannot a Constitution of the United States plus the Bible declares there cannot be double jeopardy in your life if it's been done once that's all that can be done you don't have to die and you don't have to fight my war is over with it I'm sorry to tell you my war is over with let's sing it thank you Jesus let me oh yeah let me tell you about thank you Jesus let me tell you about my jesusin no way he let me tell you about my Jesus Oh yes the good news for you what done for me let me tell you about my Jesus Jesus save oh yes hallelujah oh yes hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah thank you Jesus away tears oh yes broken dream wasted tell your past to disappear oh let me tell you about my Jesus and all the wrongs that you all the wrongs could it out for thank you Jesus rising up from an empty Ain no s let me love Hallelujah Jesus change your life hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah thank you Jesus take my cross pay the price for all my goods who would care that much about me let me tell oh yes Ain wayes up from an empty ain't no and let my J hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Jesus let my Jesus change your life hallelujah hallelujah the devil will try to lure you back into battle again he try to seduce you and get you to come back and fight fight with him again this battle's already been won it's all he's got the keys to death Hell In The Grave it's already been won tell him I died in my substitute yet my substitute ever liveth to make intercession for us cuz he rose from the grave what a lovely lovely Lord of all the animals for 1500 years that were slain and the Bible said it was just not possible just not possible don't try to do the impossible Let Jesus change your life you can't do it by yourself big leaves will never work never work but he's found a way because he loves you cares about your life and when he was rich he became poor paying 1,500 100 Years of rollover and all the sins that had been committed would be committed today in the future and just kept on loving you knowing someone was coming in your life and that someone is here and that someone is coming again I want to be ready don't you I want to be ready when that someone comes again lift your hands
