Insecure Giants

here's what I want you to understand to surrender and my opinion is one of the hardest things to ever preach to a church because to surrender there's one of the greatest things you can ever do as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ before you ever step into this house you've surrendered before you ever lifted your hands and worship you surrendered before you ever laid yourself on an altar you surrendered before you gave God anything that you've ever gave God you surrendered it's a continual surrender but it's like I said last night you don't surrender to your enemy you don't surrender to the circumstance you don't surrender to the devils that are attacking your family you don't do it you surrender to God you're surrendering the will your way your thoughts your emotions your your patterns your steps your direction your heart you surrender that to God because only he is able to read the thoughts and the intents of man only he is able to make a way where there was no way only he is able to break down barriers and break down doors and only he is able to make that enemy finally shut his mouth only he is able so you surrender to the greater party so one more time with your hands lifted in your eyes or close up sing that one more time well the Doron would you help me yeah Buffy emotion Akiyama holding nothing haha withholding nothing I hate emotion you the higher Oh God would you let a prophetic word step into this house guys would you let the gift of healing God operate freely of this possible Lord would you let the game get the faith y'all just have it's free flow operation Lord look at every insecurity God look at every trouble God look at every distraction God look at every emotional discomfort God look at him retain in the body gone and what you deal with it in the only way that you can with a with a word of healing a word of hope a word of joy God would you do it right now God as we surrender our hearts God as we open up spirits God to receive what you are getting ready to give us God would you would you do it Lord which give us the confidence that it's gonna be okay it shoddy a table hosted to hear my heart we would hold nothing from you God yes Sahib oh ho shot ahahaha yes yes yes yes Haribo coho sockeye now in the way you know best could you just begin to magnify your God could you lift him up for he is worthy I had a Papa who said I here am i a city kid sonakaille are opposed what an atmosphere I'm privileged to be a cornerstone this is my third year I believe it's like my eighth or ninth time behind this pulpit it's a privilege for me every single time I get the call to come here it's a privilege because I love this church I love to be given the opportunity to speak into the life of this church I love to be given the opportunity to prophesy a bright future over this church I I love being given that opportunity are you thankful to be a part of this church and this church would not be a possibility without the sacrifice of your pastor and your first lady pastor and sister Salaam I give honor to my friend pastor Doron he fears the Lord and he loves this church he loves the mission of the church all thankful for the ackerson's now I'm gonna pray that I am able to communicate what I feel God gave me early this morning for this church I came prepared to preach something completely different and this morning I woke up at about 5:00 and I haven't been able to go back to bed and I really felt that God and parted a word to me I don't know how this word is going to come out I don't know if I'm going to preach it or teach it and they say the only difference between teaching and preaching is once telling it and one's yelling it but I do feel that there is a gravity of the Holy Ghost in this house and I do also believe that if we respond accordingly to what God is getting ready to speak into the life of this church there's going to be an atmosphere that's going to be established and I did not know brother Duncan was coming brother Duncan's a good friend he's a man that's anointed of the Lord and he's gonna have a word for this church I didn't know brother Robin that was coming brother Robin that's a good friend he's been a mentor for awhile he's gonna speak into the life of this church whatever you do do not miss next week services because I firmly believe this is an ascending anointing it's it's it's growing it it started it started with the devotion on Friday but but it's it's not done with the devotion on Friday it's going on ascend and there's gonna be an outpouring next week there's going do you believe that so judges chapter 6 I have great news for everybody under the sound of my voice and that is it's 1 1 o'clock and 2 I haven't had breakfast this morning I had a cup of coffee like four cups of coffee but I haven't had breakfast and that's significant because I only preach my appetite and y'all I've been up since 5:00 so I'm getting hungry so if you preach with me I promise you all have us out of here and at your respective restaurants pretty before the Baptist's praise God I was a joke I'm sorry judges chapter 6 starting with verse number 1 and the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord but it does stop there there's a bright future and the Lord delivered into them and to them into the hand of Midian 7 years 7 years because of their actions they they had to serve their enemy and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them dens which are in the mountains in caves and strongholds I'm gonna address that in bed and verse number 7 goes on to say and it came to pass when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord because of the Midianites notice that they did something they received the repercussion of what they did and now they're asking for God to get them out of the mess that they got themselves into yeah anybody ever do that get yourself in a mess and you ask God to get you out of the mess that the Lord sent a prophet unto the children of Israel what's said unto them thus saith the Lord God of Israel for I have brought you out of Egypt I have brought you forth out of the house of bondage and I have delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of all that oppressed you and and drave them out from before you and and gave you their land verse number 10 and I said unto you I am the Lord your God fear not the gods of the amorite and whose land you dwell but he have not obeyed my voice and verse number 12 and the angel of the Lord appeared unto them and said unto them the Lord is with thee thou mighty man of Valor he's speaking of Gideon and versus their team Gideon said unto Him o my lord if the Lord be with us why then is all this befallen us and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of saying did did not the Lord bring us out of Egypt now the Lord had forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites and the Lord looked upon him and said go in this thy might and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites for have I not sent thee and he said unto Him Gideon said to the Lord o my lord where will swear with shall I save Israel for behold my family is poor in Manasseh and I am the least in my father's house Lord I know you've anointed me I know you've given me the power I I know you've called me to do this but but how can I do this from the least in my house my father's the poor how so for a few minutes I want to preach to us along the lines of insecure Giants I want preach to us along the title of insecure Giants could you put your Bibles down and could you lift your hands and could you invite Jesus to open your heart open your mind and open your mouth to speak when it comes time to speak a Tomica a dodo boho shot ha ha Lord would you anoint our eyes to see your glory one more time well join our ears to hear your voice one more time God would you anoint our mouths got to speak one more time words of faith the words of purpose and words of hope and words of joy and words of healing not words of destruction not words of pain not words of discouragement God but the words which pertain unto you Kingdom God Lord would you put a hedge of protection over every heart that's under the sound of my voice God Lord dispatch angels over them God angels of war angels of protection angels a provision God would you do it according to your word according to your will and according to your way one more time could you clapping to Jesus yes for best words of Pentecost you may be seated thank you my story my journey with Christ if I could put it that way began roughly seventeen years ago I was raised the faithful church a tender my dad was a pastor and he pastored a large church for that matter I was raised the faithful attender of of church I tried to be involved I tried to do every live I tried to be there but but it wasn't this kind of church it wasn't an apostolic church it wasn't one that knew what we were seeing in that to surrender is in other words to adopt the fact that God is going to give you victory it wasn't that kind of church it wasn't the kind of church that that automatically promised you victory it wasn't that and quite honestly I've said it before and I'll say it again I I envy everybody that has had the privilege to be raised in a Pentecostal church I am be anybody that has had the privilege to be raised on on these pews over the last several years because right from the get-go you understand who your God is and right from the get-go you know what your God is capable of doing right from the beginning you know the power of the name of Jesus and aren't you thankful for that but growing up in my dad's church be it that it wasn't a part of this movement we we didn't have youth camps we didn't have youth camps like like we have them in the Tennessee district we we didn't have the kind of camps where where we did just hundreds and hundreds of young people and get them together for one week ours were a little bit different we had a different kind of youth camp we still get the young people out of my dad's church but but we'd go to a retreat somewhere about an hour or so away from the church and and I was raised on these youth camps I was raised on these retreats we'd we'd go hike we'd go swim we'd play and and it was these these specific cams that that completely marked my childhood they completely marked my child that they they didn't mark my childhood because of the activities we played though because we did play hard in those activities but but they marked my childhood because not only did we play but we also prayed not only do we know how to have a good time in the world and a good time in in and just our daily activities but we also learned how to get a hold of the throne of God we learned how to seek the face of God it was in those youth camps that I finally sinned and started to grasp a passion for prayer and and if you don't have a passion for pray I urge you get a passion for prayer because prayer is gonna change your life prayers go to redirect the trajection of your life prayer is going to cause you to surrender to the will of God in the ways of God and the plans of God so growing up because of those camps Church would become a very special thing to me even when I didn't want to hear about church even when I didn't want to go to church I never once disrespected the church I never once walked away from the church I I never once tried to belittle the church and negate the church or step away from the church because I knew one thing about the church and I knew one thing about God and that is if I ever got in some real trouble you ever been in some real trouble if I ever got into some real trouble I knew from where my help is gonna come from I knew that judgment begins at the house of God I knew that power flows out from the altar of the Living God I knew that when I got messed up when I got broke busted and disgusted all I had to do was go to the church because the church would give me hope the church would give me peace the church would give me joy and I came to establish into the environment today that the answer for our world today is still the church the church is the greatest thing God ever made the church is the greatest organization he ever put his blood upon the church is still the answer for the world today but it was at these camps and I would first figure out about the pace of God and understanding the pace of God I learned not to rush the plan of God because if you're gonna follow God if you're gonna surrender to God you cannot try to tell god what to do because he's the greater party he's the one that's more powerful he's the one that predated you he's the one that was there before you ever thought about being there so you can't rush the plan of God you can't rush the pace of God so I was I was comfortable with my walk with God but I wasn't content with my walk with God here's what I want you to understand God will often disrupt your comfort to confront your dysfunction he'll very much often come against the comfort of just doing Church and coming to church and being a part of the church and and going to the prayer meeting and being a part of the prayer meeting and even praying in the prayer meeting he he'll sometimes disrupt your comfort a faith so he can address your dysfunction so he can address the sickness so he can address the pain so he can address everything that the enemy is sending against you so I quickly learned in my walk with God that I'm gonna allow God to disrupt my comfort I'm gonna allow God to make me uncomfortable because if God saw if it to make me uncomfortable it means he's getting ready to take me to another level it means he's getting ready to take me to a whole new stage a whole new direction in his plan so if you ever get teased by something that individuals are saying you know you shouldn't be doing that you shouldn't be going there you should just allow God to direct your steps I got a question have have you ever gotten teased by someone that has something that you want but you didn't have but you really wanted does that make sense that's the tongue twister in other words have you ever really wanted something but you couldn't get it you see the same thing happened to me and happened at these youth camps and I happened at these youth functions and for me that was the Holy Ghost because to me to receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues was a very beautiful thing you as a platform to achieve - it was something I wanted to get from God but at the age of 12 or at the age of 10 really God didn't see fit to give it to me right at that moment he made me wait a little bit and I'm all dressing in just a minute so I began to really desire to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and when I was in sixth grade I was just a youngin little did I know that God would operate in his own timetable little did I know that God was not open to my opinions nor my suggestions and God does not need your opinions nor your suggestions on how to process his plan in your life God doesn't need it God God doesn't need help telling you what to do God God doesn't need help showing you the steps to take because the good the steps of a good man are ordered not of you but they're ordered of the Lord the very need that you're asking God to either eliminate or provide in your life might be the actual space God created to not only show his faithfulness but to also show his supply in other words God truly does have your future in his hands in other words nothing's gonna catch him off guard in other words even when you are desiring something from God there's going to be a timetable with the presence of God there's going to be a process with the presence of God because he's creating a space a space where he could show you that even when you were at your worst he never once forgive forgot you even when you couldn't figure it out he never once stopped providing for you even when you couldn't piece it all together you never once lost your way because the Lord has your life in his hands but I didn't understand that at that time so insecurity would begin to set in and security would begin to set in in those camps and I'd begin to believe a lie from the enemy I would have begin to believe the lie from the enemy that God does not love me or that I'm not called of God or that God did not ordain my life just because I did not receive His Spirit I began to really question my purpose my very existence in life simply all my friends were receiving that one thing I wanted I want you to really grasp it down in your heart and I want to say it many times throughout the course of the next 15 minutes or so that you cannot control the pace of God so what's the big deal about the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost is your answer the Holy Ghost is your hope the Holy Ghost is your joy the Holy Ghost will scare wit's end out of you because the Holy Ghost will demand a surrender out of you the Holy Ghost will tell you where to go the Holy Ghost will tell you what to do and yes it does look a little frightening at first it looks like speaking in other tongues but don't let that spook you it's not it's not mumbo-jumbo it's not something that just that ought to cost fear into your life it's a very securing thing here's why it's a very securing thing because the Bible specifically says that the tongue is the most unruly member of the body so when God wants to show that he is king over your life when God wants to show that he is powerful over your life the first thing he's gonna do is to control the one thing that you couldn't control he's gonna start controlling the one thing that lets you are you tried it all you know when you want to say something good something bad would always come out so God says surrender to me and I'll show you that you can control it so sixth-grade summer would come syska sixth-grade summer camp would come in and it would wrap up I would go back to school that next year discouraged broke bus that I just I just wouldn't want to so so I'd begin to open up my spirit I talked to our - earlier today be careful what you open up your spirit to because if you open up your spirit to negativity negativity is going to proceed out of your steps if you open up your spirits and negative thinking then negative thinking is going to become a reality in your life so in my sixth grade year I opened myself up to negative thinking stink and think and I did it I began hanging around the people I shouldn't be hanging around with I began saying things I shouldn't be saying I began talking ways I should not be talking ways that my momma and daddy did not raise me to communicate its sixth grade or to go by in that fashion I began to get cold and indifferent towards the the house of God I begin to get cold and indifferent towards going to church and being a part of the church and plugging integer I start getting cold and indifferent because that's what happens when you make the choice that you're not gonna keep pursuing after God so sixth grade summer goes by that seventh grade camp comes by and and and then her the sixth grade year goes by then seventh grade here comes buy-in and then the summer camp comes in and the same thing happens I'll seek after the Holy Ghost I say God I need it if there's one thing god that's going to fix me if there's one thing that's gonna set me on your plan god I need it God so so let me go on record and say that you don't need anything that this world has to offer you don't need anything this world has to offer you don't need the drugs you don't need the alcohol you don't need the bad lime so go on record and call it all out you don't need the women nor the man you don't need any of this negative stuff that the world has to offer you your only fulfillment is rightfully found in Jesus Christ where he can give you the things which the world cannot give you for your fulfillment is found in Christ so in the storms and the insecurity in the question and in the brokenness trust in the provision of God trust in the fact that he has your steps ordered out trust in the fact that he has everything planned out according to his will you need you need to trust that God will truly provide for all of your needs be it emotionally be it physically be it spiritually you need to trust that your hands or your hands are tools they're weapons of his glory in that where you go it's because he allowed you to go there be it if it's against the devil or be it if it's against a friend it don't matter what you're fighting God is for you but here's what I want you to understand the provision of God doesn't mean I'll never go through a mess the provision of God doesn't mean I'll never go through a famine it doesn't mean I'll never go through a trial it just means that I could live through it it just means I could live through it but brother Joey I tried to avoid this trial I tried to play all my cards right I did everything my pastor told me to do I tried to do it and and it still came brother Joe I why does this come you ever ask that question why does the trouble still come when all your steps are going right because sometimes God delivers you out of frightened or sometimes God delivers you out of frightening situations but sometimes God takes you right to the front door of frightening situations to show you that he is still able to show you that he is still powerful surest the shirt in this confidence rest the shirt and the confidence which God is imparting to you that if he brought you to it he's gonna take you through it that he's not gonna leave you in the mess he's not gonna leave you in the valley he's not gonna leave you in the brokenness he's not gonna leave you and everything and that one thing which you regard it as always your weakness God's gonna turn it into your weapon that one thing that you've always regarded as the thing that's gonna destroy you is the one thing that God's gonna use to empower you that one thing that you could not figure out that God was allowing to come over your life it's gonna be the one thing that God uses to publish his glory to publish his blessing to publish his authority to publish his promise this is way over your life so my old pastor used to teach me he used to say when you can't track God you have to trust God when you can't figure out where he's at you just have to sit in here in your prayer corner and you have to say God I know you still can because destiny is never without difficulty if you have a plan of God over your life which every single person under the sound of my voice has a plan of God over your life if you have a plan of God over your life and destiny will not be without sacrifice destiny will not be without trouble destiny will not be without a a surrender so what do you do in the meantime in the meantime you do to you choose to do what we talked about last night you choose to wave the white flag you you choose to speak the words of faith you choose to speak no words of power you choose to speak the words of blessing you choose to speak the words of healing that even when everything is going wrong God is still able so I would pray hidden in those youth camps I would pray and I would say god I can't figure you out god I can't I can't figure you out god I want the Holy Ghost I don't know why you're not giving me the Holy Ghost God would you please give me the Holy Ghost and and he wouldn't do it that summer neither it was my eighth grade summer so high I began to change my prayer and I don't recommend you do this but I do recommend that that you start praying big prayers to God I start I recommend that you that you challenge God with the word I recommend that you challenge God with the promises that are in that word I recommend that you challenge God with with words of faith words of power and words of future so in that in that in that prayer meeting in that camp and that youth camp I I said God I'm never gonna ask you again for the Holy Ghost sang gonna do it God you know I want it I've only asked you about a thousand times so I ain't gonna ask you no more when it's time just give it to me I'm gonna fight it no more I ain't gonna badger him because he already knows what's in my heart but I did pray one thing and I said God I ain't gonna ask you anymore but I asked one thing of you would you give it to me before I get to high school is what I said I said because God I know if I don't make it to high school these influences that I have regretfully allowed in my life they're gonna take me over these influences which I've allowed to speak into my life they're they're gonna influence my spirit God they're they're gonna tell me which direction to take they're gonna tell me what stuff I might get involved with drugs got it if I don't have the Holy Ghost god I might get involved without I'll get involved with that God god I need you God just to please that's the one thing I ask God give it to me before I get to high school so for a whole year I didn't ask god I'm sorry my seventh grade eighth grade year I didn't ask God so summer would come and the summer would almost be over and I start high school in September and my dad at the time just took his most recent church which which was a church actually in Knoxville Tennessee he took a church in in Knoxville and and and dad would um would say right before he was getting ready to Pastor that church you say hey why don't we take the whole youth group from Detroit and go down to the church over there and let's just let's just encourage the church it was a great church it was a powerful Church well I don't we just go and and and encourage the church and I was like all right let's go I was really bitter I was really angry I was really upset with God I was not in a good place I was like you know what missions trip free missions trip let's go free was a glorious word it's still it's still a glorious word amen yeah but Friday evening came about and we were getting ready to drive down to Knoxville and my brother looks at me and he says Joe let's get some of our youth group and let's go to one of our prayer meetings in the Romanian culture in the Romanian culture we'd have prayer meetings we'd put 200 or so people in about a room this size and we we just pray we just pray until God just showed up so we went into this prayer meeting in this in actually downtown 8 mile Detroit which it was in a safe place at the time I don't know why I'm constantly attracted to to adrenalin activities from a prayer meeting to a mountain in Turkey I just don't get it so so so so we went to this prayer meeting and and and we began to pray we begin to pray God's blessing over this trip to Tennessee we begin to we begin to pray God's favor over the trip to Tennessee and and and a man that walked in there had no idea we were leaving he begins the prophesy he begins to speak in tongues and he begins to give a word from God and he begins to say there's a group of young people that is getting ready to leave to a church not far from here and he said he said the enemy I sought to sift you the enemy has sought to make a distraction the enemy has sought to destroy this trip he says but I the Lord is what he said I the LORD have anointed this trip dears what I want you to understand about the plan and the purpose of God cornerstone Apostolic Church and that is if God ordained something for your life it doesn't matter what the enemy tries to set your way it doesn't matter what kind of attacks the enemy is trying to set your way God will have his way so that property would go on to say I the LORD have ordained this trip and just go in peace because I have come to meet some people at this church no idea we were leaving so we get to leave it and it's Saturday service comes in Knoxville and and the church is on fire they're just praying and they're just they're just praying after the things of God and they just want more of the things of God and I'm like oh yeah let's go so Saturday goes by nothing happens to me Sunday morning comes by same thing on fire great Church nothing happens to me Sunday night comes by Sunday night comes by and and the church's breaks out in prayer one more time and I I'm sitting in the choir loft at the time I don't sing but for some reason to let me in the choir loft so I'm sitting in the choir loft then and I put my my knees on the floor I'm with my head dug into the seed and and I just get to pray and really just waiting for service to be over and then the prayer meeting just goes and happens again and the glory of God falls one more time you know I fear that we ever get used to the glory of God I fear that we ever get used to the presence and the moving and the operation of the Holy Ghost I fear that we ever get used to the fact that you can come into this house with cancer and God just get rid of cancer I fear that we ever get used to that because God has ordained the endtime Church to be a Church of Hope a church of healing a church of peace a church of joy a church of trying of God God ordained that for every person that's sick in the city of Chattanooga to have an answer as long as they choose to step into the altar of the Lord if you're sick and you're under the sound of my voice you don't have to remain in sick any longer because God has come to meet you because God has come to make a way for you because the glory of the Lord is here and since the glory of the Lord is here it does not matter what circumstance you have he's more than able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that you can hope for or imagine because that is the DNA of the church so my head sitting in that pew and and I just get to pray in and I and then I get to stop it in and then the place just gets to two going and going crazy for Jesus and and then there was a guy that was sitting right behind me with his with his mouth pointed towards my ear and and he begins to pray in tongues he begins to pray in tongues really loudly exceptionally loudly microphone worthy loudly and keep in mind I allowed the wrong influences in my life at that season of my life a lot of the wrong voices too speaking to me so I was an angry person and I said if Davey don't stop I'm gonna stop him Danny don't stop praying straight in my ear then almost stop so I said I'm gonna count to three you know count on the three always works one two churches praying everything's just going to three and as I get ready to stop Danny from praying straight in my ear because his rupture in my eardrum he started he raises his hand he says thus saith the Lord and he says son of mine tonight I call you son of mine tonight I call you so I'm stunned I'm jaw dropped eyes open beady eyes I'm freaking out and I'm like what just happened cuz the church was still praying the church was still hollering the church was still praising God and worship so I'm like what just happened so I get out of that prayer I sit back in my chair right after that now I look to the guy to my left here I forgot one little bit so all my father's churches are Romanian churches so Romanians my first language Romanian is the language dollars race speaking before I ever spoke English so Danny is praying in Romanian and Danny speaks those words into my life in Romanian and and everybody's praying in Romanian so I look it to the guy to my right which his name was David and I say David have you possibly heard anything that Danny just said he says no I just heard him praying in tongues super loudly and I said lolz and I looked to the left and I say tio have you have you heard have you heard Danny pray anything anything specific have you heard him say a word over my life over over anything at have you heard anything he says no I just heard him praying in tongues really really loudly so now I'm freaking out so now I'm freaking out because now I turn over to Danny and I say Danny did you by chance just say a word over my life did you Danny just speak a word into my he says I don't think so he says I just felt the fire of God I just felt God just begin to anoint what I was saying I just don't know what I was saying but but so do you catch what's happening God gave a word to me without me or anybody else without anybody else understanding what that word was here's what I want you to understand about God God is king of turning your barriers into your blessings be it if it's language barriers or be it if it's emotion discomfort if it's sickness God is king it turning your barriers into blessings he is king of turning the things which society has used against you that's the weapons that he's gonna use for you he is king and turning everything that wants fought against you into things that are gonna fight for you he is he is the king of doing all of that for there's nothing that could possibly limit the potential of your God be it even if it's language if you speak Chinese and and you were needing a word in Chinese God God is able to do what you could not do in your own power so so I have freaked out the place is praying again and and I do something I didn't think I was gonna do because I fell to my knees and and I said God I surrender I said God I'm sorry I fought against you I said God I'm sorry that that my mind was warring against you god I'm sorry that I chose to take my life into my hands god I'm sorry God that I did this all against you God would you forgive me God here's what I want you to understand and that is whatever you have done in your past it makes no difference in the sight of God as long as you choose to come to an altar and as long as you choose to say God I surrender God and I'm sorry Lord I'm I'm sorry I sinned against you god I'm I'm sorry I've done this evil thing in your sight God I'm sorry I've walked against you got him I'm sorry I did it got out God's going to receive you back and God's gonna forgive you and God's going to make a way for you and God's gonna heal your thoughts God's going to heal your emotions all that guilt all that stuff you miss suppressing God's gonna take it away and not only is he gonna take it away but he's gonna cast it as far as the East is from the West meaning your we're gonna have to think about it again meaning whatever you've done you have an equal platform in the sight of God so I repented before the Lord I prayed before God and I said god I'm sorry you know I was at that moment that I just felt myself just calling a different world and I just began to speak in tongues I just began to just speak in tongues there was no nobody sitting by me nobody praying for me it was just natural because once you surrender your heart to God there's nothing that can keep God from filling your heart once you surrender your heart to God there's nothing that can keep God from inhibiting your praise from inhibiting
