Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The guest takes the floor
- He stirs the house to step into the aisles and worship, saying the devil does not want shouting or praising but the church came to exalt the King.
- He leads the house in prayer for those seeking the baptism of the Holy Ghost, teaching that a seeker must repent, turn his back on the world, and yield until the Spirit touches his tongue.
- He says the enemy to faith is condemnation, and that getting rid of what God is dealing with you about frees the prayer life.
- He honors the host pastor and his wife, saying the Carpenters have poured their life and their money into the kingdom and the whole family is all in.
The text: a church hell cannot prevail against
- He reads that Christ will build his church on the rock, that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, and that the keys of the kingdom bind and loose on earth and in heaven.
- He announces his theme, welcome to the party: the world has its party, but the church has the only party worth going to.
- He grieves that many Pentecostal churches no longer hold Sunday night services, blaming a Jeroboam spirit that says it is too much trouble, and testifies that many received the Holy Ghost on a Sunday night.
Scriptures: Matthew 16:18-19
The making of a party: lay aside every weight
- He cites the great cloud of witnesses who have already run the race and won the crown, and they are testifying to the church tonight.
- The race requires laying aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us; things picked up along the way must keep being pushed back.
- He says there is always a connection between consecration and power: a show can be made without it, but genuine power cannot come without genuine consecration.
- God writes his law in the heart rather than legislating volumes of do's and don'ts, and the Holy Ghost in a believer will talk if he is let to talk.
Scriptures: Hebrews 12:1
Casting out Ishmael
- He retells Abraham's great feast at Isaac's weaning, where Sarah saw Ishmael mocking and told Abraham the bondwoman and her son must be cast out, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with Isaac.
- The thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son, but God told Abraham to hearken unto Sarah's voice, for in Isaac shall his seed be called.
- He preaches that you cannot shout and dance with Ishmael on your back: what is grievous must be dealt with, and the church must be united behind its pastor one hundred percent.
A big heart like Solomon's
- He quotes what God gave Solomon: wisdom, understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the seashore.
- He says he has printed the words out with his own name, Joel Holmes, put in Solomon's place, asking God to do the same for him.
- He rebukes little, selfish thinking, the first question of how a thing will affect me, and urges the church to get in the middle of the flow of God's blessing.
No new carts
- He tells how David longed for Jerusalem, the ancient Salem, yet Judah could not drive out the Jebusites and they lived among God's people; the devil lies when he says habits cannot be overcome.
- David's first attempt to bring the ark up on a new cart failed and Usa was smitten; meaning well does not excuse crossing God's lines, and David stopped to search out what had gone wrong.
- He warns that great Pentecostal churches have died when a new way of doing things came in, and that holiness is usually the first thing kicked out.
The Numbers sermon and Norman Clifton
- He recalls preaching years ago from Numbers the 25th chapter, where the Israelite boys went down to the Moabites and intermarried with them, and preaching it as a picture of this world's pull at ball games and halftime shows.
- Brother Norman Clifton, who had gone to school with the man that owns the Dallas Cowboys, told him after that sermon he no longer had to ask about attending the class reunion in his friend's box seats; he knew what to do.
- Years later the friend, an old drinking buddy, told Clifton he wished he could quit; the preacher answers that in a Pentecostal church, by the power of God, a man can quit.
Scriptures: Numbers 25
Shut down, but the prayer room stayed open
- He tells how at COVID he shut his church down for some nine weeks yet kept the prayer room open, watching the numbers of those who came in to pray in the Holy Ghost.
- He says his school gathers to pray daily, some four thousand a week counting church and school, while men who closed their schools said it was too much trouble.
- He tells how the Arkansas Health Department threatened his principal over a sickness case, and how the governor called him personally and promised that the department would call asking how they could help.
The close: honor, hunger, and the children
- He urges the church to remember them that have the rule over them, who must give an account, that they may do it with joy and not with grief.
- He quotes David's word that he set his affection toward the house of God, and calls the people to dance their way down the aisle in the altar celebration.
- He gathers the school children on the platform and tells how his mother at 93 prophesied that their church of about 150 would run 1,750, like Jesus feeding the five thousand once the people sat down, and how she later recognized the second building's slab as the one in her dream.
- He warns that God already sees the church's next phase, that the hearer must be hungry and correctable under a gentle pastor, and he thanks the Carpenters and asks the singers to sing his mother's song once more.

Fresh oil, fresh anointing, fresh breakthrough. Oh yes. Oh yes yes yes yes yes yes. We magnify you God. And you know, to get the Holy Ghost, you you you've got to repent of your sins. >> You got to be willing to turn your back on this world >> and let the old man die >> and let there be birthed a new man. >> That's all you got to do. You just got to be willing to give up sin. >> Amen. You know, the the enemy to faith is condemnation. >> If you got condemnation, it will hinder your prayer life. It'll hinder your walk with God. But when you get rid of condemnation >> when you get rid of things God's dealing with you about. Amen. And say, "Here I am, Lord. Here I am, Lord. I'm a willing vessel, God. You repent of your sins." And I watch people get under the power. Amen. You You know what I'm talking about. Helping people get the Holy Ghost. What do they get to doing? They get to go like this. >> Oh, you you you know when they start doing this, they're feeling it. >> Not only new convert, but old converts, all the converts, when they start doing like this, something's touching them. The electricity of the Holy Ghost is moving on them. Oh yes. Oh yes. And I I can't tell you the times I've told people said just like you feel it in your hands, if you'll turn this loose, you'll feel it in your tongue. >> You'll feel it in your chin >> and you'll go to talking in tongues as the spirit gives the utterance. I feel a witness in the Holy Ghost. If somebody will take those simple instructions, God can fill you right now. right now. Well, what a wonderful time it's been being here this morning with you great people, this great church. and we've heard a lot about the church and a lot about your pastor and his wife and it's been our honor and privilege to get to be here with you all this this weekend. What a blessing. Thank God. You know what? You've got the leadership you've got. You've got people that's pouring it all in. >> They're 100% in. >> I mean, I don't need to tell you that. I remember many years ago, brother Carpenter, my my dad said about Or Roberts, you go to Or Roberts University, you can tell where he put a lot of money, his money if you ever go on that campus. And I want to tell you, it's not hard to see when you walk around here. Amen. Yeah. Yeah. >> All this didn't just jump together. >> You don't buy this one at Walmart. >> Amen. The carpenters have poured their life and their money into the kingdom. >> Amen. You can't never be grateful enough and appreciated. Sorry to say, but there's preachers just, you know, they're in it for what they can get out of it. They never do. There's been a number of times I've been called on to help people help churches find pastors. And I always said, I don't want somebody to come and sit on the ball. I want somebody to move the ball forward. There's there's any number of preachers and pastors, they just sit down. They don't do nothing. But I'm going to tell you what, you're extremely blessed tonight. >> Amen. The entire family. Are they not amazing? >> The unity, the love. Amen. They're pouring it out. Yes. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Amen. Well, God bless you. You can return to your seat. Just remain standing. I'm going to read you a couple verses of scripture here tonight. And they're ones that all of you could quote. And it's Matthew the 16th chapter and the 18th verse. He said, ' And I say also unto thee that thou art Peter, upon this rock I will build my church. And this is the part I want you to catch. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. >> And of course he said, I give unto thee the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Amen. The Holy Ghost to help me just for a few minutes. This is Sunday night. In fact, we're here to party. >> Amen. And what I'm going to preach about is welcome to the party. >> Amen. Thank God for our party. The world's got their party. We got our party. Amen. We got the only party worth going to. We got the real party. Amen. Before you're seated, would you reach your hand in this direction? Let's all get on one team. What do you say? Lord, in Jesus name, I believe you tonight. Have your way in this service. I pray. I believe you. God, speak to us. Speak to us. Speak through us. Let us God carefully say what you would have us to say in love and in grace. Help us. We believe you, Jesus. In your name. In your name. God bless. You can be seated. You know, before you have a party, you got to have something to celebrate about. >> Amen. >> Birthday party, anniversary party, wedding party, and on and on the list goes. You've got to have something to celebrate about. I look and I think about how churches are empty tonight. And it breaks my heart to think about it. >> Jesus name. Pentecostal tongue-talking churches that once had the fire, they don't even have church on Sunday night. >> Amen. >> Well, hallelujah. >> Thank God for church on Sunday night. >> You know what has happened? They got a hold of that Jeroboam spirit >> that says it's too much trouble. It's too much trouble for the go to church on Sunday morning and come back on Sunday night. But we got something to tell the devil. You're a liar, Satan. >> We got something to tell the flesh, you're a liar, flesh. It's not too much trouble. Amen. Blessed to be in his house. I wonder how many of you people, if you can remember the night you received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, how many of you received it on a Sunday night? Uh, I wonder if you wouldn't stand up and be a a witness of it. It was Sunday night. How many of you cannot remember the night you got the Holy Ghost? What what night it was? That's that's the group I'm in. I can't remember the night. >> Well, why don't you just go ahead and stand with these that Yeah, cuz it was probably Sunday night. Hey, take a look around you tonight. I said, I I've already trapped that devil, brother Carpenter. That's the reason the devil wants to take away the Sunday night. >> Thank God for the ministry of Sunday morning and Wednesday, but >> don't take Sunday night party away from me. I want to go to his church on Sunday night. I want to worship the king on Sunday night. I want to hear the choir sing on Sunday night. Hey, I want to see people run the aisles on Sun Yeah. On Sunday night, I want to see people Well, I wonder about some of you young men. Y'all, Y'all can't run. Young men, come on, young man. Get out those pews. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. The devil don't want no running on Sunday night. He don't want no rejoicing on Sunday night. Oh, bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me. Bless his holy name. Bless the name of the Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Look at those fine young men. Take a look at them. What better could they be doing on Sunday night than running the aisles of an apostolic church? They're going to be doing something. And there's nothing better for them than than to be in church praising, glorifying, lifting up the name of Jesus. Keep them out of the drug world, marijuana world, sick world. world that's twisted and messed up. We've got the only thing going. We've got the only party going. It's right here. The world don't even know what a party is. Oh yes. They go, I've never been to their kind of party, but I've heard about them. said they wake up the next morning, they don't know exactly what they've done or where they've been. >> Amen. Sin in their life, >> filth in their life. >> Oh, thank you, Jesus. >> You know what? You're going to get up in the morning if you'll worship God >> and you're going to feel real good about where you've been. Amen. If you'll pray till the Holy Ghost talks through you again. Come on. Just press right on in it. Just press right on in it. Oh yes. There's nothing like saints getting renewed in the Holy Ghost. Oh, bless that wonderful, glorious name of Jesus. We bless your name, God. Amen. You can be seated. >> Amen. You know, I saw this scripture in a different light than I'd ever seen it before, just since I've been here, reading the word of the Lord. Thou art petered upon this rock, I'll build my church. >> Oh, yeah. >> And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. >> My church. Everybody say, "My church." >> My church. >> Well, well, well. Who is it that's in his church? >> Everybody say we are. >> We are. Did you get it? >> The gates of hell shall not stop you. >> It doesn't matter what the devil does. >> Somebody with the victory and with a madeup mind, hell cannot stop you from being victorious and living for God. You're not going to get so weary. You're not going to get so tired. He's not going to come at you from so many angles that he can stop you because he said he shall not >> shall not prevail against God's holy people. >> We are going to be victorious >> for his glory and his honor. >> Oh, thank you Lord for a Holy Ghost party. Yeah. >> You know, the making of a party is is there's things you've got to do. >> And Hebrews 12 and one said, "Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witness." Oh, we got a great cloud of witnesses. >> People that's already run this race, >> battled through it, >> won the crown. >> Amen. I wonder how many in the house you know somebody that's on the other side already with the victory. >> You know what? They're witnessing to you tonight. >> They're testifying to you tonight. Thank God for that great cloud of witnesses. >> Then he said, "Let us lay aside every weight >> and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." We got a race to run. We got to continue to, you know, it's just as you're going through life, you'll pick up things that you got to complete, keep pushing them back. >> Amen. Uh you you got to keep laying aside weights as we run this race. >> We cannot allow the things of this world. That's the difference between the church that I'm in here tonight than the church, the religious world. >> They do not preach laying aside the sins and the weights of this world. >> That's the reason the lights have gone out in their building. >> That's the reason there's no anointing there. >> The There's always a connection between consecration >> and power. You can't have the power without the consecration. >> You can have a show. >> You can move around and make people think you've got the power, >> but you can't have the genuine power until you get genuine consecration. >> And when you say, "Lord, here it is." and I put it all on the altar and you lay everything aside and the weights that are would be bogging you down and you know it it thank God. Hadn't we got a good God? >> He said I'll write this thing not not in a book. He said I'll write this thing in your heart. Hey, you don't need to be legislated to how to live >> cuz you need volumes and volumes of don't do this, do this, don't do this, don't do that. Hey, there's a Holy Ghost in you. >> And that Holy Ghost, >> come on. >> That Holy Ghost will talk if you'll let it talk. >> Speak to me, Holy Ghost. >> I want to walk this circumspect >> life that I should be living. >> I want to do your will, God. I want to be what you want me to be, God. >> Oh yes. I want to please you. I want to lay aside everything that's holding me back. >> And it he said, "He that hath an ear, let him hear." >> God, touch our ears. >> Open our heart tonight. >> Speak to us, God. >> Oh, genuine Holy Ghost saints pray the prayer like this. Lord, I'll do anything you want me to do. It does. Well, >> it doesn't matter what it is. You just lay it on my heart. You just put it in my spirit. It doesn't matter what it is. God, I want to walk and talk with you. Hey, you know what? The little consecrations that we have made. Look at the anointing that we feel. >> The blessings financially, spiritually, oh, hallelujah. I'm here to stomp on that devil tonight. Amen. in your face, Satan. You're a liar and the truth is not in you. Amen. God's going to have a church and he's going to have a people that are all in. Not one foot in and one foot out, but they're going to get all the way in. And it's not that I don't know. I tell you it the way it seems like it comes to me. When there's something in my life I need to do, it's like right here on the end of my nose. It's like I can't see nothing else. It's like, well, hallelujah. >> If I've said something that I should not have said, >> if I've done something I shouldn't have done, it's like I can't do nothing else until I get that thing straightened out. >> You know where he wants? He wants to write it in your heart. >> Amen. It's not brother Carpenter. >> It's God that's put it in your heart. >> Amen. I want to live for him. I want to walk with him. I want to be what he wants me to be. Amen. And then you uh open the door of the blessings, the rich, and the goodness of God in our life. Thank you, Jesus, for it. Lift up your hands right now. Let's talk to him together. Oh, I bless your name, God. This is the making of a party. You can't have a party until you get some things arranged. You can jig, man. You can move around, but you can't have a Hey, hey, what about it? Do I have any uh help out of you folks that got the same color hair I've got? Am I telling the truth or not? >> Am I telling the next generation of Pentecost the truth or not? Could I hear an amen out of you? >> Yeah. Come on, older saints. And Amen. are setting the example before these young people. Amen. They need to have this same old path. They need to have this same good old life of living for God. If it was good for you, it's good for your children. It's good for your grandchildren, great grandchildren. Amen. Lord, preserve it. Preserve it, God. Preserve it. Oh, lift up your voices and thank him for it right now. We magnify you, God. Before you have a party, you got to get some things straightened out. >> You can't just have a party over sin and the world. It won't work. That's the reason this daily prayer is so valuable. Daily searching our life, daily talking to God, daily walking with God. Amen. It was Abraham and uh he he God blessed him. He had a son Ishmael and then God gave him the promised child Isaac. >> I love reading the Bible. Number of times in the Bible he says,"Abraham, your only child. >> Your only son, just one son's all you've got." And it was it was Ishmael. They were having they were having a party. The Bible said that Abraham had made a great feast. Everybody say a great feast. >> Great. >> You know what that means? It was a big birthday cake. >> It had a lot of frills and icing all over it. It was a big feast. And Sarah looked over there and seen Ishmael making fun of Isaac and and and something rose up in the spirit of Sarah and she went to Abraham. She said, "This can't be. There's no way that Ishmael can remain and mock our our son Isaac. You got to put him out. Abraham. Thank God. Well, help me Jesus. >> Thank God for godly women. >> Thank God. I asked Sister Carpenter, "Was I going to preach or was she going to preach tonight?" She said, "Y'all got permission for me to go ahead." But but she said, "I preach here all the time. Y'all are blessed." >> Yeah. Yeah. Thank God for godly women. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Hey man, it won't hurt you to kind of give me a little Baptist nod. >> Yeah, you're probably in church cuz you got a godly wife. >> Oh yeah. Oh yeah. >> Yeah. They helpless. Oh yeah. Thank God for it. >> Amen. A Holy Ghost. >> She said this ain't going to work. And she went to our father in the faith. Father in the faith. It wasn't Moses. It wasn't Noah. Amen. It wasn't Joshua that was our father in the faith, but it was this great man named Abraham. But see, even great men can get a little bit off sometimes and get confused. Now, this Ishmael was a boy probably somewhere, I think it 16, 17 years old. Probably had the probably had the best donkey on the farm. Probably rode in the best chariot. On and on the list goes. fine clothes for Ishmael. But it come a day that she went to Abraham and said,"Abraham, this is not going to work." Hallelujah. Thank God. Let me tell you something. Thank God for a church that gets together. >> There's nothing to bind you together more than truth. Yes. >> Hey, there can't be a half a dozen different churches in this church. There's only one pastor in this church. >> He's got he's got the voice. He sets the standards. Nobody else can do that. But it was as great a man as Abraham was, he was confused right here >> because he did not want to get a get rid of this Ishmael. The Bible said that Abraham that Sarah came to him and said, "Cast out the bond woman and her son, for the son of the bond woman shall not be heir with my son, even Isaac." Listen to this. And the thing was very grievous. Everybody say very grievous. >> Very grievous >> in Abraham's sight because of his son. Everybody say it again. Very grievous. >> Amen. >> Hey, we're going to have a party. We got to deal with things that are very grievious. >> Amen. And get oursel the nap of the neck. >> Well, can I do it again for you? >> Get a hold of ourselves. Come on, church. >> Hey, let's don't get halfway in. Let's get all the way in. Hey, if Brother Carter preaches it, that's good enough for me. We're not going to debate it at our house. We're not going to talk about it at dinner table. If that's what he feels, that's what we feel. Go God's not going to hold you accountable. He's going to hold him accountable. Put your hands together for God. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. said it was very grievious in Abraham's sight because it was his son. >> Hey, God didn't say serve him because it's easy. >> He said, "Serve him because you love him and you want to do his will." Now, a 17-year-old boy that you've raised and you didn't have a son and now you have got you've had him for 16 or 17 years and now you've got this newborn son. You're in a tight spot. Thank God for men >> that will square their shoulders back >> and say, "Look, I'm we're >> tell family, hey, you may go somewhere else, but uh >> I'm not going nowhere." >> That's right. >> This is my church. >> This is my pastor. Thank God for Thank God for real men and women that when it's grievious. >> It's grievious to see people turn their back on God. >> It's grievious to see people do other things. >> And it's not always an easy road, but it's the right road. And the Bible said that Abra, it was very grievious in Abraham's sight because of his son. And listen to this. And God said unto Abraham, "Let it not be grievious in thy sight, because of thee, lad, and because of the bond woman, and all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice, for Isaac shall be thy seed be called." It's just going to be Isaac. Well, thank you, Jesus. Hey, you can't shout and dance with Ishmael on your back. >> That's right. >> You can't feel free in the Holy Ghost. >> Hey, you know what? The devil beats us out of so much because when when you get this liberty, it's not just liberty one way. It's liberty in your health. It's liberty in your finances. It's liberty in your attitude. It's liberty every way. It's victory. Victory. Victory. Victory. Victory. Victory. Victory. But you got to deal with Ishmael. >> You just got to say, "Hey, I know this is going to be tough, but I'm I'm going to do the right thing. I'm I'm got my mind made up." >> I'm preaching to you tonight. You know what makes a great church is when a church is united behind that man of God 100%. They're holding up his hands. Brother. >> Hey, you ought to love Brother and Sister Carpenter so much if you just think that's what they want. >> Yeah. Go buy him a dozen shirts. >> Some dresses to go with it for Sister Carpenter. >> Come on. >> Come on. >> Oh yes, God. Come on. Let's pray right now. >> Speak to me, Holy Ghost. No rebellion in me, Holy Ghost. >> No rebellion in me, Holy. I wonder if you couldn't pray that prayer right now. There's no rebellion in me against my pastor, against the teachings of this church. There's no rebellion in my spirit, God. Oh God, I bring myself under subjection. I'm going to kick Ishma completely out. I want to run the aisle, shout to victory. I want the windows of heaven to open for me. I want there be victory in >> yes God. Yes, God. Yes, God. >> Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. >> You know, before you shout, you got to have something to shout about. >> You can't shout until you have something to shout about. >> I I'm sorry to repeating myself, but that's why churches are empty tonight. >> They're not shout. They don't have something to shout about. Why? Why are we going anyway? We're just going to sit there. No, no, no. Not when you come and you got the victory. >> You can't sit on the pew. >> I mean, you can't help but want to party and praise and glorify the King of Kings. Oh yes. Oh yes. Oh yes. Yes, Lord. All the way to the back row tonight, all over this house tonight, we've got something to party about and shout about and celebrate about. We've kicked Ishma completely out. Said, "Brother Carpenter, you be my pastor, and whatever you do, I'm going to do 100%." Hey, folks, when we've gone this far, why don't we just go all the way? >> What's wrong with going the rest of the way? Brother Carpenter, if you want to pray, I'm going to be praying with you. If you want to fast, I'm going to fast with you. >> Oh, yeah. There's power in in fasting. Did you know if you get one day a week and fast at the end of the year, think about it, you fasted 52 days, >> you almost gave God two months out of the year of not eating. >> Oh yeah. Kick Ishmael out. >> Ishmael wants to eat all the time. Get a hold of him by the nap of the neck and say, "Get out of here, boy. You ain't got any control over this. I want the anointing of God in my life, in my home. I want the blessings. I want those windows of heaven to open wide. Are we having a time? >> Is the party going all right so far? >> Is everybody happy? All right. >> Amen. There ain't no use to preacher lying to nobody, is there? Amen. Hey, we got the call of God on our life. Brother Carpenter's got the call of God. It It's not about us. >> We We're not control freaks. >> Oh, no. We're trying to point you in the direction where the blessings are at. >> Where the sun is shining brighter, >> where the blessings are richer. >> Amen. Where the anointing is greater in your life. >> Amen. It's God. Did you know God wanted Israel all the time? He said, "I I want to I want to take you to a land that is >> Oh, help me out now. >> What kind of land? >> Don't give me them little heavens." >> Uh-uh. Oh, take me to the land that is >> not not a drip, >> not a stream. >> He come. >> Hey, I want to get right in the middle of the flow. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. You're blessed tonight to have a man of God that's wanting to help you get in the flow. >> There's a flow if you can just get in the middle of it. >> Oh, thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. You can drink from the fountain. It's like drinking from a fire hydrant. >> It's coming out faster than you can take it in. >> Amen. Oh, help us God. I think about one of my favorite scriptures and try to read it every day and quote it every day. You can be seated. It was what God said to Solomon. God told Solomon's about him. The word of the Lord said, "God gave Solomon." Everybody say, "God gave Solomon." >> God, >> you know what? I got that printed out. I took old Solomon's name out of there and I put Joel Holmes. I said, "God, if you can do it for Solomon, you can do it for Joel Holmes." >> And God knows I need it. >> The Bible said God gave him wisdom >> and understanding >> exceeding >> much >> and he gave him largeness of heart >> even as the sand that is on the seashore. >> Three things he gave him. Wisdom, understanding, and a big old heart. a big old heart. >> Hey, when you get a big old heart and God speaks to your spirit, missionary, >> new building, >> whatever the need, >> you know, I told you about Dean Martin. Did you know his all the drive in him was >> I want to be able whatever the church needs, I want to be able to write a check. And then he took 10 men, young men in our church, and put them in business actually in competition to him. There ain't no competition to a child of God. >> You ain't got to worry about competition. >> Wow. >> There's enough for you. Hey. Hey. Did you know God's so big he can love you >> and he can love your enemies, too? >> And if you get big enough, you can love your enemies. >> All right. That's right. >> Come loose. Come loose. You got you well stopped up over nothing. Foolish. I want to get in the flow of it >> where it's coming out. >> Oh yes. Oh yes. We're born our very nature is to be selfish. That's our nature. >> It's to think little. Anytime you hear anything, somebody starts some well, let's do this. The first thing that comes to our mind, how will this affect me? >> Amen. Help us, God, to get rid of little thinking. >> Amen. and and get in the flow where God is at >> and let God pour out his blessings >> of victory in our life. >> Oh, thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. >> Oh, yeah. >> You got to deal with Ishmael, Abraham. You get rid of him >> and then watch what God will do. And then and it come along David, you know, when you read the story of David, it was uh uh Jerusalem that he had his eye on all the time. >> Yeah. Uh you know, because you see one of the first thing he does when he takes over the kingdom, it's them Jebusites. >> He's going to take care of them. And Salem was that ancient city that Mekazdc was from. that was Jerusalem and he knew that was a holy city and a sacred city. There's no doubt about it. He had read the Bible tells us that he had read ancient proverbs because he said one of them is the wicked will just do wicked when he was talking about Solomon. So David was a student of life and he knew that sa Salem was the city of God and the devil had camped in it all those years and now he becomes king. The Bible said that that Judah of all people Judah could not drive out the Jebusites >> so they just lived among them. Oh devil, you're a liar. >> Amen. I'm going to tell you, the devil will lie to us and tell you you can't overcome. >> You can't overcome habits. >> You can't quit things. You can't get rid of things. >> But he's a liar. The truth is not in. If we're going to have a party to celebrate, we got to have something to celebrate about. >> Oh yes. And then he goes to, you see, it goes to Jerusalem and and uh they say, you know, you you can't come in here. You you the the blind and the lame could whip you, David. >> And uh but he talks to his men and says, "The one that uh conquers uh Jerusalem will be the captain." But then and some way they they went up the gutter, whatever that is. They swam up the gutter and they got into the city of Jerusalem. You got to watch when you deal with them country boys. >> Them country boys will give them city boys a good weapon. >> Oh yeah. You think you going to stop us, devil? >> Come on. >> Somebody needs to rise up in faith. >> You think you're going to stop me? >> You think you're going to stop my finances? You think you're going to shut down my company. You think competition is going to take over. It's not going to take over. We're going to take over you. Amen. We're children of the kingdom. God's got his hand on us. The anointing is in our life. We're victorious in Jesus Christ. >> Oh yes. Lift up your voices with me and thank him right now together. We magnify you, God. >> We worship you, God. >> Oh yes. Oh yes. Oh yes. You know, and then David has got his eye on one thing and that's that ark of the covenant >> and he says, "I'm going to bring it back to Jerusalem where it belongs." >> You know, he he goes to get it. >> And because they have they put it on that new cart. >> Oh boy, that's a message right there. >> Pentecost and their new carts. >> Pentecost and their new carts. >> It won't work. >> It's never work. great churches that have been herited by the next generation. Tonight, I could give you I don't know how many. In fact, uh we we compiled a book. I flew secretaries to California, the West Coast, and and East Coast, and and South, and all we did, we got stories from old saints that were raised in some of the greatest churches in Pentecost. And today they do not exist. >> They're not charismatic. >> They're off the map. Are you hearing me tonight? >> Amen. Churches I grew up with dreaming of someday to be like them and to see the people they've got. >> Today it's over with >> because somebody came in there with a new way of doing things. >> And the main thing they always kick out is holiness. It's all right. >> It's all right. >> It's all right for women to dress in pants. When the book said it's an abomination. >> Amen. >> And if a woman's got a right to wear that, men's got a right to wear a dress. >> What a twisted, crazy world we're in tonight. >> Amen. We need to pray for the president. He's certainly not a perfect man, but thank God for anybody that try to take any kind of stand. >> Jesus Christ, help us. >> What? >> Oh, Jesus, help us. Can you imagine taking a little boy and a little girl 12 years old and say, "Honey, do you want to be a little boy or do you want to be a little girl? You can decide. Here's a dress and here's some pants." Come on. >> If that's not a sick, twisted world that make all of us cry and pray for America that they'd come to their senses and wake up. >> Oh, help us, God. New carts won't work, church. You can't have a party if you got got it on a new cart. Thank God for you godly sisters. I salute you tonight. You carry the banner of holiness. Shame on me if I'm ashamed to walk in a >> store with godly looking. You know, I can go out here and people don't know whether I'm a atheist or what I am. >> But I'm going to tell you, you ladies, and thank God. >> I think we ought to lift our hands, men, and thank God for these godly ladies tonight. Thank God for these Holy Ghost ladies. >> Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Hey, we're having a party. Yes. Yes. >> You can be seated. Even though he meant well, just meaning well, you can't cross certain lines with God. >> He meant well. David meant well by bringing that card up. But when Usa was smitten dead, he said, "Hold it. We can't go any further until we find out what's went wrong." >> Oh, God. I don't want to just keep going over things. I want to stop and search and say, "God, where are you at in all this? Speak to me, God. I want your help. your blessings, your anointing in my life, you're helping my life. >> Guess what? When they got it right, when he went back and read how Moses said to bring that ark up, see, nobody's exempt. A man after God's own heart, hey, you can be a man after God's own heart and still get it wrong. >> Don't get upset because you got it wrong. Just get right. >> Hey, I missed the mark, but I'm getting back where I ought to be. I'm turning my thinking back around where it ought to be. >> It's not in the things of this world. It's not in the sports gods. It's not in the Hollywood movies. No, the trash the world is pumping into our children and into our homes. >> You got to get it right. You got to get it right. I was preaching number of years ago on a Sunday morning and I was preaching about the Moabites. And in uh Numbers the 25th chapter where the Bible said the Israelite boys went down to the Moabites and they married intermarried with the Moabites and got them in trouble. And God was giving this to me as a comparison to this world. >> And I I I was preaching this message and I told him, I said, and this is exactly what God laid had laid up on my heart. I said, it was like they were going down to the ball games. >> Amen. >> And they were, "Oh, there ain't nothing wrong with that." Okay. >> Halftime, the Mull girls come out there. >> Amen. I've always wondered what Pentecost was doing is watching Super Bowl and uh well >> I don't know the name of the girl but >> I I do remember back then it was quite it created quite of a stir. Amen. And so I preached that message and little did I know one of the great men in our church his name's Brother Norman Clifton. He was raised and went to school with the man that owns Dallas Cowboys. They went to school together. They were big buddies. And he bought it. He he lived right there in North Little Rock and he moved, of course, to Dallas. And what I didn't know, oh, don't you think God can't search out things? What I didn't know is that his class uh 25th class reunion was coming up and uh and his buddy had already called him and said, "We've got box seats." And tell you how far back this goes. He said, "Liz Taylor will be there with us." Oh, Lizzy and uh other movie stars will be there with us and we're going to celebrate and we're going to watch watch the football game and you'll be in my box seat. And so I I preached it after church. You know what he did? He's a man. He's a man. He's a Abraham. There wasn't a doubt about it. It grieved him. Think about it. He walked up to me and he said, "Brother Holmes, I was going to ask you about going to that 25th school uh anniversary." He said, "But I don't have to ask you now. I know exactly what to do." >> Take this whole world, >> but give me Jesus. Oh yeah. Hey. Hey. Am I in a Pentecost church? I believe I am. Hey, if the pastor says it, I'm going to do it. >> You know what? I'm not only going to do it, I'm going to tell my children to get it done. >> Our house is going to serve the Lord. >> For me and my house, we shall serve the Lord. I want the blessings, brother. >> I want to see my children saved. I want to see revival in my family. >> I don't want to drag around. Just tell me what it takes, pastor. >> You want to hear a little more of the sadness of that story? You can be seated. He met him here a while back. He said, "Come on, Norm. have a drink. He said, "Oh, no." He said, "I quit that years ago." He said, "I don't do that anymore." They were old drinking buddies, high school buddies drinking together. I don't do that no more. You know what he said to Norman? He said, "I wished I could quit. >> I wished I could quit." Oh, God. And to think God has led us in a Pentecost church where we can quit. There's the power of God flowing through this place tonight. You got you got things hanging on you. I'm going to tell you, under the power of the Holy Ghost, you can shake it off tonight, God can deliver you from the bondage of sin in the world and give you the liberty of the Holy Ghost in your life. Brother Pastor, if you say it, I'll do it. I don't care, David. You're a man after own God's own heart, and I love you and all that, but you still can't get by just doing what you want to do. >> Moses wrote something that I gave him to write. Do you understand this is not brother Carpenter's Bible? >> Did you know brother Carpenter is walking trembling in the fear of God? when he gets up and declares something and preaches something, >> he y'all know him better than I know him, but you know, I'm just recently getting acquainted with him, but I I've never met more kindhearted people. >> Yes, sir. >> Caring people. >> Amen. It's not about them. >> You know what you got this man doing? You got him trembling. >> Oh, God. Let me say it right. >> Let me preach it right. Oh God, I don't want no blood on my hands. I want I want to say what needs to be said. I want to lay it out like it should be laid out. Help me, Jesus. Do you believe you got that kind of pastor? >> Well, I want to tell you, if there's anything you know, you ought to say, "Hey, tonight you ought to give him a call and say, "Don't worry about me. I'm all in. I'm 100% in." That's right. Oh yes. Oh yes. You know what's wrong with Pentecost tonight? You know what's wrong with Cuz churches have closed down? >> They're shallow. >> They're are inch deep and a mile wide. >> There's no depth to the move of the Holy Ghost. >> They're playing games. And the game won't last long >> cuz Paul said you got to build on the gold, silver, precious stone or wood, hay, and stubble. And you know what happens with with fire when it hits wood, hay, and stubble >> before the fire trucks can get there. >> Before the pastor can get to where you're at, you're already swept off your feet. You're gone. >> That's right. You know, I said back when COVID come out, I told my son, I said, "Son, we got to shut down." I mean, we're right there on the Interstate 40. Uh, and I said, "They'll blame us for every everybody that dies in this city. We were the ones that did it." >> Yeah. >> I said, "We got to do it." >> I said, "Oh, God, I'm praying." I said, "God, there's so many of them on Sunday night. They're getting renewed in the Holy Ghost. What are they going to do for the next I think it was nine weeks of no church." >> That's right. >> Can I tell y'all a little secret y'all won't tell nobody? We kept the prayer room open. >> Said, "Y'all, y'all slip in here." >> Hey, you know what? I kept my eye on the numbers that were coming. I said, I got to I got to praying in the Holy Ghost cuz I'm going to tell you, y'all don't know the load this man and his wife cares. And thank God for these. My goodness. How in the world did God do this for you, Brother Carpenter? Give you these children, son, and daughters and son-in-laws. >> Oh, Jesus. >> Oh, is this not amazing? >> Amen. How on earth God just opened the windows of heaven and has blessed y'all so much in this church. >> Yes, sir. God is so faithful, isn't he? >> Yes, he is. >> Amen. He's so gracious and good to this. >> Oh Lord. Oh Lord. >> Oh, thank you Jesus for the truth. Thank you Jesus for the message. Thank you Jesus for the church. >> Oh, hallelujah. Hallelujah. >> I told him, I said, "We got to shut down." But I kept watching those numbers because they're coming in. It's not estimated numbers. And I want to God everybody say to God be the glory. God >> every day our school comes into the auditorium and praise. >> Course the upper class upper campus they got a chapel. They go in there and pray. The low ones come here. I told them I found out they wasn't bringing them little bitty ones. I said bring them in. >> They said they crawl under the pews. I said I don't care. >> They'll remember. They'll grow up remembering. >> How many of y'all in this house remember mom and dad, >> living it before you, showing you the way? Come on, wave your hand. Yeah. See there what I'm talking about. >> Yeah, it'll work. And to God be the glory. >> Amen. With them, it's right out. It's sometimes 4,000 including the church and the school a week. a week. >> They're in the auditorium praying. >> Devil, get out of here. >> You can't have our babies. >> Hey, you know what? Y'all need to thank God every day. I can't tell you how many men I know that's closed their school down. You know what they said? The sissies said, >> "Too much trouble." >> Too much trouble. >> Bring it on. >> Yeah. Bring it on. >> Bring it on. >> We'll fight the fight. Yes, sir. >> Oh, yes. We're going to save our babies. >> We're going to save our babies. >> Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh, hey. Hey, listen. The greatest ministry y'all have got. And I I It's amazing. This church, I looked at that playground. I wanted to go play. I said, "Dear goodness sakes alive, McDonald's ain't got nothing on y'all. Jesus help us, Lord." Amen. Ever Everywhere I look, they carry me all over this place. We was here 11:00. I didn't know we was here that long, but his son, he said, Brother Nolan said he was calling his mother, and his mother said, "Oh, we're showing Brother Holmes church. It's 11 o'clock up." I didn't realize it. Thank you, Jesus. >> And thank you, Jesus, for Christian education. >> Amen. >> Oh, it's beautiful. It's wonderful. You know why? Cuz you take these the little girl, baby, don't you cut your hair. >> They come up up here, they get this. Don't you cut your hair. >> If you cut your hair, you get to be out of school for a whole semester. Yeah. Keith, >> you know what you're doing? You're building a culture. >> You're putting the fear of God in their heart. >> That's right. >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Amen. You know, uh there was a Arkansas Health Department. We had a teacher that got sick or a student and I don't know who it was. Anyway, they went to the uh hospital doctor and they said, "Well, the school and here we go." And they called our principal and threatened him. They said uh and it was a woman and uh she was Butch. You ever met a Butch? She was a Butch. Yeah. Yeah. And she was second place in the Arkansas Health Department. And uh and oh oh Miss Butch, she said uh she said, "We're gonna we're gonna prosecute you for this. We're turning you over to the media." He said, "I'm going to tell them what you've done." And I'm telling you, my my son and the principal, they were shaking. Well, they told me about it. I've been in so many wars and fights. So, but you know what? I kept going back to prayer meeting and I kept winning every time, >> man. They I'm tell you, they're scared to death, man. We're going to get in the media and they're going to sue us and shut the school down. Well, whatever. Amen. Can I tell you what happened? The governor called me and he said, "Uh, Brother Holmes, I just want to check on y'all. see how y'all were doing. I said, "Well, we're doing fine." He said, "Everything all right?" I said, "Yeah, everything's fine." And then it hit me. I said, "Well, over at the health department, Butch called and threatened and threatened our principal that they're going to turn us over to the uh the prosecutors and prosecute us and she's going to call the uh call the news media and and they want to interview and they want to tell they want to know what all and who all." And uh he said, "Really?" I said, "Yeah." He said, "Well, let me tell you something. Hey, I I get too much party in me when I said it's it's Butch that said it. He said, "Brother Holmes, that was on Friday." He said, "Money morning, they will call you and they will ask you, "How can we help y'all?" >> He said, "Don't you worry about that no more. Yes, >> I believe I'll keep praying. >> I believe I'll keep going to church. I believe I'll keep honoring the man of God. >> I believe I'll keep holding up his hands. >> I believe I'll keep shouting the victory with him. >> Brother Brother Carpenter, if as I was in this church and you told me whatever >> I needed to do, >> I believe in you, brother. I believe you are absolutely a sincere, Holy Ghostfilled man of God. >> Hey, the only way this church can go forward is get behind this man right here. >> Go ahead and stand with me. And it you know what? It it it's obvious you're behind him. I can feel the spirit when y'all clapped about them shirts. I said, "Oh, yeah. They love him." They were They worried about your shirt, brother. >> Amen. >> Hallelujah. And you know what? You don't never need to forget this man. >> That's right. >> The Bible said, "Remember them >> that he's put in rule over you." >> I didn't put it in there. It's in the book. >> Read the book. >> Just live by the book. He said they they're going to give an account for you >> joy. >> They can do it with you do a little >> that they would may do it with joy >> and not with >> with grief for that would be unprofitable for you. >> Hey, hey, hey, folks. You're dealing with one of the most kind, God-fearing, God-loving men. >> You don't see many pastors like this. >> You don't see many Come on over here, Sister Carpenter. Amen. You don't see many. >> Hey, you you you got a couple of people that are all in. >> They're not part of the way. >> And I know y'all are all in, but I'm just trying to stir you up a little bit. I I'm not rebuking nobody. Y'all understand that, don't you? I know you love him. >> But I just want to tell you how what makes this thing work where you really have a party. You know what you need to say? 99% won't do. >> Brother, brother Carpenter, just tell me. >> Uhhuh. >> I'm a frontline soldier with you. I'm standing shouldertosh shoulder. >> If they're after you, they're after me. >> That's right. >> Amen. We're going to fight this battle together. >> We're going to live victorious. We're going to have the anointing of God. >> We're going to have an oldfashioned holiness dressed godly living apostolic Jesus name tongue talking out running devil stomping. We're going to have that kind of church God. >> Oh yes in Jesus name. Amen. Thank you, Jesus. >> Thank you, Jesus. >> Thank you for our church. >> You know what David said? He said, "I have set my affections >> toward the house of God. >> I like my house, but I like this house so much better. >> This house is so much more important to me >> than my house." >> Oh, yes. There's nothing like the church. I wonder if somebody wouldn't just kind of dance your way down the aisle. Oh yeah. Come on. Would y'all dance this way? Come on. Come on. Pick them up. Yeah. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. It's party time. Come on. Dance your way. Dance your way. Pick up your feet. Come on. Sing your stance for I got to praise everybody. I got to praise. Woo! Oh, yes. Oh, amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. I wonder if y'all couldn't worship a little bit. Yeah, they're going to do that. Hey, hey, let me tell you one other thing. My mother was 93 years old and she would come to the church. It just I could tell you stories on and on. We had about 150 people in our church. Our Well, let me back up and say this. I was 16 years old when I started preaching. For some reason, my daddy had the church to vote on me as the assistant pastor. So at 19 years old, he had a paralyzing stroke and he never took another step on his own. His face was drawn, his words were slurred and uh and the weight of the church fell on me. We were up to about 150. 150. Mother gets up. She's always been mightily used of God. >> Yes. >> Anybody in our church will tell you. She gets up and she says, "God spoke to me. This church is going to run 1750." Now, we got 150 people. They're all sitting in one section, center section on Wednesday night. Hey, Brother Carpenter, when she said that, I slid down in my chair. I said, "Mother, we have struggled to get this far. What in the world have you just said?" and old doubt and Thomas. It was doubt and joy. And so I said something to her after church. I could tell, you know, she didn't she just humble and sweet. She said, "Well, I just felt God speak to me that number." >> I said, "Uh, so she back about a day or two later, she come back and she said, "I prayed about it again." >> Wow. And the Holy Ghost said that just like Jesus fed that 5000 when he got them to sit down. >> And if you can get them to sit down, you can feed 1750 just as well as you can uh 150. She didn't back up one inch. Well, you know what's happened? You know another miracle. She had a dream of the new church, the slab, the size of the slab. So I got her and I we built that first building on and I walked her over that slab. She looked at it. I could tell she was disappointed. She said, "This is not what I saw in my dream, son." Really? Man, it looked like two Walmarts to me. Guess what? I never forgot what she said. >> When that second building they poured the slab, I went back and got mother again. >> I walked her out there. What do I need to change? >> Cuz you know, he's he he's not a he's not that kind of Y'all know that, don't you? He's not that. He's a gentle man. Thank God for a gentle shepherd. >> But that doesn't relieve you of doing what he's preaching. If you know it's what he wants, that ought to be good enough. Hey, I want to be in the body. I want to be in the body. I want to function in the body. That's where the blessings are at. >> Well, thank God. I I if y'all don't mind, I'm going to get out of the way after this one.
