you can be seated for just a moment amen it is such an honor to be here with you today amen I give honor to Bishop and sister McCool so thankful for their sacrifice over the years to this community and to the kingdom of God across the world Amen thank you Jesus and brother pastor and sister McCool God bless you amen and I'll call him brother Nate I'm used to calling him Nate but brother Nate amen happy birthday you're getting much older praise the Lord God is blessing you amen sister Ashley and just Amen to Anthony just thank you guys so much for allowing us to be here today with you guys such an honor amen and today Shelly and I are celebrating our our 18-year anniversary today amen no place we would rather be than right here with you all praise God we were driving out of Indianapolis yesterday and um I said hey honey tomorrow is our 17 year anniversary she said your math is off amen I said oh what do you mean she goes we'll do it again and I cannot believe it's been 18 years amen that we've been married but uh she doesn't get to travel with me much amen but when uh we find out we come into Knoxville she said I am going with you amen so we're so glad to be able to travel together and celebrate this great day with all the graduates today amen praise God and uh Aunt Janet is over there Aunt Janet is great to my family and my kids my kids call her Aunt Janet amen just so glad to see you here today Aunt Janet amen but I'm excited about what Jesus is going to do here today amen let's stand to our feet for the reading of God's word amen thank you Jesus let's turn in our Bibles to Acts chapter 9. verses one through nine praise the Lord and I'll try not to preach too long here this morning amen acts 9 and 1 and Saul yet breathing out threatenings and Slaughter against the Disciples of the Lord went into the unto the high priest and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues that if he found any of this way whether they were men or women he might bring them bound into Jerusalem and as he journeyed he came near Damascus and suddenly their shined right around about him a light from heaven and he fell to the Earth and heard a voice saying unto him Saul Saul why persecutist thou me and he said who art thou Lord and the Lord said I am Jesus how many know Jesus is Lord amen I am Jesus whom thou persecutest it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks and a trembling and astonished said Lord what will thou have me to do and the Lord said unto him arise and go into the City and it shall be told thee what thou must do and the man which journeyed with him stood speechless hearing a voice but seeing no man and Saul arose from the earth and when his eyes were opened he saw no man but they led him by the hand and brought him unto Damascus and he was there three days without sight and neither did eat nor drink I want to preach for a short moment here this morning about God's reach I want to tell somebody here today that God can reach you right where you are right now I want to remind somebody here this morning that you are not unreachable that God's love has not stopped for you just because you made a mistake but the Holy Ghost has brought you here the more this morning to reach out to restore to fill your life again with hope and joy and that you walk out of these back doors here this morning with a new life God can reach you here today let's pray father I thank you Lord Jesus for this opportunity to be in Knoxville God I thank you that your spirit is in this place here this morning and God I pray that your hand reaches down in this place and save somebody's Soul God I pray that you walk into this room Lord Jesus and wrap your arms of Grace around somebody that was convinced by the devil's lies that they were unreachable and unlovable and father I I pray right now Lord Jesus at your spirit come I want you just to lift your hands all over this place amen I want you to open up your heart right now to the Lord I want you to give permission to the Holy Ghost right now to move in your life I want you right now to start pushing down every lie of the devil in the name of Jesus God we plead the blood of Jesus upon this place right now in the name of the Lord reach somebody in this house and I pray it in the name of Jesus everyone say in Jesus name amen you can be seated tonight in the name of the Lord today this morning amen praise God today I want to talk about the reach of God much is preached about men seeking God how many know we ought to seek the Lord today I'm thankful that we all have the opportunity to seek a living God and before I talk about God seeking us I want to ask you about this today how is your reach towards the Lord we should seek the Lord each and every day the Bible says much about seeking him in first chronicles 16 and 11 the Bible says seek the Lord and his strength seek his face continually the Bible says in II Chronicles 7 If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their Wicked Ways then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land Psalm 27 and 4 One Thing have I desired of the Lord that I will seek after that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life Psalm 105 and 4 seek the Lord and his strength seek his face forevermore I want to remind somebody here this morning there is great blessing in seeking and pursuing the Lord I'm thankful that when I seek the Lord he can be found here this morning I'm thankful when I call upon the name of Jesus I'm thankful that he's a living God I'm thankful that I can find his will for my life today I'm thankful he is a God that does not hide himself not only do we seek the Lord but I'm thankful that God seeks us out I've traveled to countries before where they've created the gods with their hands and they put them up on an altar they bring food to them they bow down to these Idols they do all kinds of things they pray to him but that God Amen that they've created with their hands cannot reach out and love them that God that they've created with their own hands cannot provide for them I want to remind somebody here this morning when we seek Jesus Christ we're seeking the provider work seeking the Everlasting father we're seeking the Prince of Peace the King of Kings the Lord of Paul oh I wish somebody would help me preach up in here today when I call upon the name of Jesus he is my strong tower he is my joy he is everything that I need in this place amen I don't call on Krishna I don't call on some Hindu god I don't call on the prophet Muhammad but I call upon the one that's got a name that's above every other name that 2 000 years ago that one that's got to name Jesus hung upon a cross he spoke these words he said it is finished what did he mean it means your salvation is finished your salvation has been bought by the blood that was shed I thank God that I can seek him today amen every question I have in life Jesus help me with this God I need you today time and time again in the scriptures when God he would seek out Humanity he sought out Noah and showed his family Grace he sought out Abraham and gave him a promise he set out Elijah when he was depressed and hiding in a cave he sought out Jonah in the form of a fish and answered his prayer of repentance in the depths of the sea Amen in Daniel 9 and 3 it talks about a man a man that would seek God and it says I set my face upon the Lord God to seek my prayer and supplications with fasting sackcloth and Ashes Daniel was a man that knew how to seek after God he would pray three times a day he would fast often how many know we still have to fast today amen it's not just something for those in the past to do we must pray and we must fast in this last days that we're going to make get to heaven amen and not only did Daniel seek out to the Lord but the Lord sought after Daniel in Daniel chapter 9 verse 18 then the king went into his Palace and passed the night fasting neither were instruments of Music brought before him and his sleep went from him he was worried because he just signed a decree that said if you're praying to your God I'm going to throw in your Lions Den well Daniel didn't care what the precepts of this world said that you can't pray he didn't care what the decrees of the king said at that moment he said my God is greater than any decree of this world I've got to hear his voice amen So Daniel kept praying but he ended up in a lion's den verse 19 then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste into the den of lions and when he came to the den he cried with a limitable voice unto Daniel and the King spake and said Daniel oh Daniel servant of the Living God is thy God God whom Mount service continually able to deliver thee from the Lions I can just see that King look it in there and saying that opening up his ears did his God save him and then Daniel said unto the king O King live forever my God has sent his angel and have shut the lion's mouth that they have not hurt me for as much as before him innocency was found in me and also before thee O King I have done no hurt then was the king exceedingly glad for him and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the Lion's Den out of the den Daniel reached out to God and God reached him in the middle of the Lion's Den I want to tell somebody here this morning if you're stuck in a lion's den and you're surrounded by the lies of this world don't stop praying Don't Stop Believing because God can reach you in the middle of your mess I don't care if the haters put you in there I don't care if you were doing all right because listen we've walked the path of righteousness before and it's landed us in a lion's den I want to tell somebody you keep doing what's right you keep doing what God's spirit tells you to do you keep being led by God because eventually he's going to show up and he's going to send his angels he's going to reach you where you are in the middle of a lion's den God can reach you where you are the devil is a roaring lion seeking whom he made a power but Jesus is the lion of the tribe of Judah who will jump in and shut the mouth of that liar I'm thankful today that God can reach us no matter where we are I remember listening to this message amen when I first got into church they were cassette tapes then they moved over to CDs and now all you got to do is get online it's an MP whatever amen but I was listening to a message and there was this man who had an Hour of Prayer every day at the same exact time he would go to pray well he got sick and he became unconscious and then they put him in the hospital his vitals were all over the place but would you know at that Hour of Prayer his vitals would balance out everything would be come back to normal and it confounded the doctors and the nurses at that point but it was like God said this is our time and he would walk into that hospital room and sit there next to him on their time of prayer and he would be there with him and I wouldn't tell somebody here this morning amen Jesus wants to visit you he wants to hear your voice he wants to be with you he wants to reach out to you here this morning God's love is reaching you here today this is the reach of God I want to remind somebody here this morning you cannot outrun the Lord you cannot outmove her Jesus you can't hide from him his reach can reach you no matter where you go the psalmist said if I Ascend into heaven Thou Art there if I make my bed in hell behold Thou Art there if I take the wings of the morning and I dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea even there shall thy hand lead me Isaiah 59 behold the Lord's hand it's not shortened that it cannot save neither his you're heavy that it cannot hear God's reach is something that we can't even fathom God's reaches the extension of his love and his grace for all of us in this place if I make my bed in hell he's still there if I make a mess of things I thank God that we servant Lord that can come in my mess here today and save my soul [Applause] I remember being a 19 year old kid amen I lost my way praise God amen I remember being at a party in November of 1999 that seems like it's just yesterday amen now here we are in 2023 . amen some of you amen got kids graduating in 1999 yeah you'll think I'm just a kid but now you got kids graduating tonight but I was at a party a college party all my friends were home for Thanksgiving break we've gotten drunk we'd gotten stoned did a bunch of drugs amen and I walked into the bathroom my eyes bloodshot stumbling everywhere amen was looking in the mirror washing my hands and I heard this voice it said Josh what are you doing here this isn't where I want you I did not know what that was at that moment amen but I I would go home at night drunk and I'd walk into my grandmother's in Grandpa's trailer stumbling in and out here Pauline Wilson calling on the name of Jesus for my soul I realize now what that was but do you realize from November of 1999 until March of 2000 every time that I looked at a mirror I heard that voice saying Josh what are you doing here this isn't where I want you to be Josh what are you doing here this isn't where I want you to be amen and I want to speak that to somebody here today amen if you've got Hurts Habits and Hang-Ups in your life amen that is not all that Jesus has for you there is a greater life that Jesus wants for you in your life I want to tell you you don't have to be a drug addict the rest of your life you don't have to be addicted to the things of this world anymore there is a God in heaven that can deliver you here this morning [Applause] amen and God started reaching for me amen that just right after that praise God I was driving some friends around I had a Dodge Shadow convertible amen that thing was trash praise God but it was small I would drive that thing everywhere well I wasn't drinking that night but my friends needed a ride somewhere and so I got him in the car we had like nine people packed into this Dodge Shadow convertible and that's like the smallest car you could ever imagine and I saw a kid that was walking he had some alcohol in his hand I said man get in the car you're only in high school you're going to get arrested get in the car and so we stacked somebody else in there I was only driving four blocks amen but I rolled up to this stop sign and I just did one of those California rolls y'all know what I'm talking but ain't stopping we going amen and so I just kept on going and then all of a sudden I see some blue and red lights flashing in the background amen I've got a Dodge Shadow convertible full of about 30 people at that time amen is a church bus praise God we weren't going to church though amen but uh I got that thing full amen and then that high school kid that I picked up he left his open alcohol bottle on the seat and took off running amen that police officer walked up he said I need you to come to my car sir and man he started giving me one ticket after another he said first of all the license that you have is is uh suspended I said oh okay so I got a ticket for that he said you didn't stop with a stop sign I give you a ticket for that he said that open alcohol bottle in your seat I'm giving you a ticket for that where's your insurance I don't know I'm giving you a ticket for that your registration lights out I'm giving you a ticket for that did you have your seatbelt on nope I'm giving you a ticket for that I had a stack of tickets Amen in my hands and I said sir are you taking me to jail tonight he said usually I would be but if you can tell me where that kid lives it ran off I won't take you to jail I said well in my mind I'm thinking snitches get stitches but I'm bigger than this kid so I said I'll get somebody else to drive you follow us there I took that police offer to that guy's house amen we took care of business I didn't go to jail amen but I lost my license for two years after that point amen it was an eye it was about a year and a half I guess but it was looking back on it it was God reaching me it was God getting a hold of me I got finished with my junior college in Illinois at that point and I had to go to college somewhere else and I hadn't lived with my mom since I was five years old from 5 to 18 and I hope my mouth's not off I am the secretary I guess that's about 14 years if I'm wrong somebody can help me but 14 years I hadn't lived with my mom but I decided I'm going to move in with my mom amen and I get my math wrong somebody's laughing at me praise God but I got you know I moved over with my mom amen and I had to move into her basement and so I moved over there I had my hurts my habits my Hang-Ups and I was living in a basement the only thing that was the same was I was still working at Taco Bell but I had to walk there and I had to ride the Indigo Bus from Carmel Indiana to downtown Indianapolis every single day amen and I had to walk from the bus stop to my college campus in January and February and it was about a mile or two uphill in the deep snow I might have made that up but my life was terrible everything that I depended on was gone I'd stay down in that my mom's basement crying my eyes out I wanted to move back to Illinois where all my friends were I was depressed I had addictions still I had hurts I had habits I had Hang-Ups and I remember in March walking up the steps of that basement and when I walked up the steps my mom looked at me Amen in her kitchen she said Josh you need to go to church today I said Ma I've gone to church with you all we do is stand up sit down stand up sit down drink some wine eat a cracker and go home that never helps she said no I'm not talking about my church I'm talking about that Apostolic Church on 116th Street and I'm telling you something got over me I ran back down those stairs I put on my khakis my Doc Martens and my Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirt because that was cool in year 2000 I got my Gap belt on thick and brown I sprayed on some ck1 come on somebody all my 90s friends in the house and I had a lot more hair back then I could slick it back with some La gel or whatever it's called yeah my mom had to drop me off though because I didn't have a license but she dropped me off at that door and I walked through the back door of that church there was a lady named Judy Oliver that was the door greeter and let me take a time out real quick if you're a door greeter here today are you working some kind of hospitality Ministry your ministry is so important it is so important [Applause] because when somebody walks through the door that's going through divorce court when somebody walks through the back door that's addicted to all kinds of stuff and they feel like I've tried the doctors I've tried the mental health place I've tried the psychiatrist I've tried this I've tried that I've spent all my money I've been to every doctor I've been to rehab 10 times I've lost all my friends I'm depressed they don't want to see some scowl on your face and worry about how you're offended at somebody that just did something bad to you what you need to do is go find a prayer room and say God there's souls to be reached today there's somebody I've got to love today God make my heart ready I realize I'm not preaching a message I realize I'm not behind a Pulpit singing in a choir but they're going to be the first thing that I see when I walk into the church and they're going to be the first time that I feel the love of the Holy Ghost well Judy Oliver she met me at that door and I'd never met this woman in my life she gave me this big old Virginia Grandma hug she grew up around the Kingsport area but on the Virginia side all right I don't know if that even means anything but whatever she always said I'm not from Tennessee I'm from Virginia I said well I don't know what that means but okay amen but she gave me a big old hug and in that Embrace I felt something and I walked into the sanctuary and I sat down didn't have a Bible with me but I smelled good brother Turner David Turner I said come over here he opened up his Bible shared his Bible with me it reminds me here today that when we're sitting on a pew maybe we shouldn't always just be focused on our own lives and our own selves if we got the Holy Ghost we've been baptized we've been coming to church for 30 years 20 years 10 years five years there has to come a point of maturity in all of our lives when it's not about us it's all about him and it's about that guest that is sitting right next to us it's about that person that's hurting that's right next to us that God wants to fill with his spirit and it could be just as a matter of you rolling over there and saying hey do you want to share my Bible with me amen is there do you have anything that you need here we're so thankful that you're here today amen I thank God for Brother David Turner here today he's still at our church amen he's helping us build our new Sanctuary right now but I thank God for him because it was his welcoming self and listen I'm not going to put the microphone foreign but listen he reached out to me that day he's one of the nicest guys there is amen whenever you're not working on the building those building contact they got to be mean sometime praise God but listen he would when we're coming the house of God Amen you put a smile on your face you get your arms out and start reaching for Jesus you start using your voice to speak hope and joy and love for somebody amen you leave your stuff in the car amen well I'm better than that you come up here and leave it right here at this Altar and say God I've got a souls to win I've got a kingdom I've got to build I've got to do something for you I gotta reach somebody [Applause] the choir began to sing I'd never been in an atmosphere like that before they sing Jesus made a way when there was no way he's away maker I want somebody to know here today Jesus is still a Waymaker he can make a way out of drug addiction he can make a way out of divorce corn he can make a way out of a place where you thought God you can't yes he can and I remember standing at that seat in the very back I'm sorry camera guys I know we got new cameras I'm giving you all a workout today in the back we'll just pretend this is the back row Pastor ball preached my life that that morning it was family morning he had no idea that I grew up going through six seven divorces growing up he had no idea of the fear of rejection I had in my life because I'd been rejected so many times he got up there and said God's not going to reject you God's Gonna Love You God's Gonna help you God's Gonna reach you amen I remember standing up out of that row stepping out of the aisle and I made my way to that altar and when I got to that altar that morning I didn't know how to pray I just lifted up my hands I never done that hardly in my life I said Lord I'm so sorry please forgive me and I want you to know that I love you and as soon as I spoke those words that same voice that I'd been hearing for those past several weeks Josh this isn't where I want you to be is God saying that to anybody here this morning before you came into this place what are you doing here has sinned brought us to a place despair and hurt and pain the ways of this world will never give you happiness you can have likely but my son says a googolplex of money in the bank and if you don't have Jesus you will never be happy but when I said Lord I love you that same voice came and spoke to my heart and said Josh I love you and this is exactly where I want you to be [Applause] you see at that moment I was still addicted to drugs I still had a pornography problem I still had hurts from my divorces going through as a child I still had all kinds of things going on in my life but I heard the voice of God say that morning Josh I love you and this is exactly where I want you to be I wanted to spill a lie of the devil here this morning that says you've got to be good before you get God that's not the formula for Success I'm telling you the formula this morning is that you get God first at an altar and then he begins to transform your life and allow his character to shine through you today you are not unreachable God can be you meet you where you are I want our musicians to come I want you to close your eyes amen I want you to begin to pray God can reach you if you feel like you're lost if you feel overwhelmed if you feel afraid if you feel alone God can reach you Jesus can heal you God can lift you up Jesus can fix anything in this house and it's a pattern that he's created since the beginning of time Adam and Eve made a mistake that we find in the scriptures that God showed up in the cool of the day to reach them where they are the Bible says in Genesis 3 and 9. and the Lord God called into Adam and it said unto him where Art Thou this morning where are you he didn't say this or that he said where are you I want to commune with you I want to hear your voice I want to reach you where you're at and this morning that same pattern that was created since the beginning of the time is still happening today here we are in Knoxville on this early morning and God is saying where are you I'm reaching to some young man and some young lady here today that's convinced who I've made too many mistakes I've had too many thoughts amen and they're just not not in line with God's but I want you to I want to tell you you're still reachable God can reach past any mistake in this place and redeem you here this morning my text today was about a man named Saul Saul could not stand this message that we preach here this morning he wanted to persecute Christians he wanted them to make some feel some pain so he makes his way and gets some letters I've got what I need I can persecute these people now on his way to Damascus to make sure that these people went to prison maybe even felt some pain possibly even death laughs but on his way to Damascus this man that was seen that people were imprisoned God reached down God reached down knocked him down a little bit amen I've always heard people say well God is a gentleman that doesn't seem very gentlemanly like it's God's reach saw and I read in the chapter just before there was a man named Stephen got up and preached into this crowd they didn't like what he said people picked up stones and they stoned him they they killed him but his last words where Jesus forgive them don't hold this against them and do you know the scriptures tells us that Saul consented unto his death it was Stephen's reaction to the pain Stephen's reaction the persecution that I can't help but to think started doing something in Saul's heart that we know his name as Paul now [Music] this morning some of you might have been going through some storms and going through some hard times you've been trying to bind the devil in Jesus name but when I think about Jonah it was it was a storm that changed his mind and brought him back to the will of God when I think about my own life it was me losing my license losing my friends losing everything that I had to have that encounter at an altar so this morning your storm it could be God's reach to you that pressure that you're feeling could be God's reaching down to you in your life so as we stand to our feet here this morning I want you to lift your hands all over this place in my prayer going into this service is that the hand of God reach down into this sanctuary begin to heal your hurts take your habits and begin to help you with us with our Hang-Ups and if you're a first-time guest here this morning I want you to know that it is not by accident that you were here God has brought you here because he is trying to reach you amen he is trying to bring you to a place where you can have an encounter of the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost and God wants to save your soul he wants to introduce himself to you in a greater way and I realize you may have had an experience with God Amen in the past but today I want to let you know there is still greater things for you hey man I before we sing a song before we move anywhere I want you to lift your hands and I want you to give permission to God right now to reach you where you are come on lift your voice and begin to pray fac help me pray I want some intercessors to begin to help me pray right now in the Holy Ghost [Music] come on I want the sound of Heaven to arise within us right now come on that person sitting next to you hey man I want you to reach heaven for him come on I want you to cry out to the Lord right now [Music] come on Church help me pray right now help me pray come on I want you to reach up to him first come on to the Bible says draw an eye to God and he'll draw night and you take that first step here draw nigh to him right now in the name of Jesus oh we love you Jesus now amen before we before we sing a song I want to invite you this altar is open right now amen God is gonna reach you you've got to take that first step if you have a situation amen that you need God to reach down to I want you to get out of your seat and come around this altar if you've never experienced the Holy Ghost I want you to get out of your seat and come to this altar here this morning God will fill you with joy he'll fill you with peace amen if you're in the middle of a mess right now God will reach you right where you are but you're gonna take that first step I want somebody to get out of the altar here today gather around this front if you need prayer want somebody to pray with you amen throw your hands up amen I want you to say I Need You Jesus reach down into my life this morning can be the first day of the rest of your life surrender to him not yet that's it come on around this altar throw your hands up throw your hands up in the name of Jesus come on if you've never prayed before I'm telling you all you got to do is say I love you Jesus Oh I need you Jesus amen that's all you got to say and Jesus Will begin to move I'm telling you there's addictions getting ready to fall at this altar today I'm telling you there's families getting ready to be put back together at this altar here this morning there's lives getting ready to be changed right now in the name of Jesus God is reaching for you live your excuses at the altar leave those lies at the altar and say God I'm reachable right now I'm reachable right now thank you I'll climb up coming after me [Music] know all you won't kick down I won't tear down coming after me there's no Shadow you won't line up Mountain you won't climb up [Music] to me [Music] after me [Music] [Music] let's go [Music] chases [Music] do you give yourself away [Music] oh it chases me down finds him I'm found [Music] not good and I don't deserve it is to give yourself away [Music] [Applause] [Music] you'll be willingness [Music] so Channel you won't line up and Mountain you won't climb up coming after me [Music] kick down lie you won't tell I'm coming after you won't climb up [Music] coming after me [Music] [Applause] [Music] coming after me [Music] will be overwhelming Reckless Love of God oh it chases [Music] away [Music] [Music] I don't deserve it still you give yourself away [Music] God there's no Channel [Music] [Music] you won't climb up coming after me [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] coming after me [Music] there's no Shadows [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] thank you Jesus hallelujah amen put your hand on your neighbor's shoulder if it's appropriate pray for your brother come on reach out to him pray for your sister Hallelujah come on I want you to pray for him like you'd want somebody to pray for you right now reach out to them [Music] [Music] thank you Lord now with your eyes closed and your hands lifted [Music] I want you to surrender to him right now I want you to say in your own words God reached me let him know how much you need him here today give him permission to reach you where you are come on I don't want a storm to come in my life so that God can reach me I don't want to be knocked down and blinded for three days so that God can reach me I don't want to have a stack full of tickets Amen in my hand and everything be broken so God can reach me Lord I give you permission right now I am surrendering to you and what you want me to do right now [Music] I'm tired of fighting I'm tired of doing it my way I want to do it your way you're the way the truth and the life [Music] Hallelujah now let's just seek after him for a moment we love you Jesus come on fac still keep reaching there's people experiencing the peace of God right now there's some people's lives being restored they're experiencing hope again like they have an experience in years thank you for Hope again thank you for Joy again Jesus thank you that I can see A New Path before me the brush has been clear the trees have been moved out of the way I see A New Path [Music] I want to tell somebody it's time to start walking on that New Path [Music] and I want to encourage someone here this morning your new path your next step is repenting daily getting baptized in the name of Jesus [Music] if you've not been baptized in the name of Jesus I want you to hear me this morning your sins can be washed away when you go and repent of their sins be baptized in the name of Jesus that you could fill them with your spirit Lord I Thank you for those that you showed A New Path to today God give them the confidence to take
