Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The text: the rich man and Lazarus

  • The preacher reads the whole account from Luke 16: the rich man clothed in purple and fine linen who fared sumptuously every day, and the beggar Lazarus, full of sores, laid at his gate desiring the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table.
  • Both men die. Lazarus is carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom; the rich man is buried and in hell lifts up his eyes, being in torment, and sees Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.
  • Between the two sides a great gulf is fixed, so that they which would pass from one side to the other cannot; the sermon returns to that gulf with both of the rich man’s requests.

Scriptures: Luke 16:19-31

Death: the one appointment every person keeps

  • It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment; death is the one appointment that cannot be cancelled, rescheduled or transferred to somebody else.
  • What man is he that liveth and shall not see death, or shall deliver his soul from the hand of the grave?
  • The living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything; and whatsoever a hand findeth to do must be done with might, because there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave.
  • Because nothing can be done after death to change where a soul spends eternity, everything that matters for eternity has to be settled while a person is alive.

Scriptures: Hebrews 9:27; Psalm 89:48; Ecclesiastes 9:3-5; Ecclesiastes 9:10

The change that is coming

  • Job’s question is taken up — if a man die, shall he live again? — and answered with the change: all the days of the appointed time the believer waits until his change comes, when God calls and he answers.
  • Lazarus passed from the rich man’s gate to Abraham’s bosom in a moment; the rich man passed from his table to torment in the same moment. Death ends neither man; it changes both men’s address forever.

Scriptures: Job 14:14-15

The first prayer request from hell: water

  • The rich man’s first prayer is for water: Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame. Abraham refuses; the gulf cannot be crossed.
  • The water the rich man begs for in hell is the refreshing God offers the living now — the rest that comes with stammering lips and another tongue, given to people who will hear in this life what the rich man would not.

Scriptures: Isaiah 28:11-12

The second prayer request from hell: send Lazarus to my brothers

  • His second request is for his five brothers still living: send Lazarus to my father’s house to testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
  • Abraham’s answer stands as the sermon’s warning: they have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them — and if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead.
  • No prayer crosses the gulf in either direction, so the only time to pray for lost family is while they are alive; the preacher tells how prayer reached a man who had turned his back on God and brought him back, and urges the church to intercede for their own that very evening.
  • The sermon closes in thanksgiving for every heart that was changed.

Turn with me in your Bibles to Luke chapter 16 and verse number 19. Luke chapter 16 and verse number 19. Just for a second, I'm going to share with you how I get messages from what I who I believe to be the Lord. And you study your Bible and then you pray or you pray and then you study your Bible and and in the midst of that you you feel that um that voice talk to you. But then there's other times, sure, you've prayed and you've studied your Bible, but there's times that God just speaks um not in prayer. You can just be uh sitting at a table or you could be just uh in a church service and God suddenly speak to you. God just suddenly speak. And uh Friday night I was in a church service and the Lord just suddenly spoke to me and and when he did he spoke to me about these passages and I want to I want to share them with you today because I believe that God wanted me to share these with you especially today. Luke chapter 16 verse 19 Jesus said there was a certain rich man which was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus who was laid at his gate full of soores and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores. It came to pass that the beggar died, was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried, and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham a far off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, "Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame." But Abraham said, "Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivest thou thy good things." and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot, neither can they pass to us that would come from then. Then he said, "I pray thee therefore, I pray thee therefore, Father, that thou would ascend him to my father's house, for I have five brethren, that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment." Abraham saith unto him, they have Moses and the prophets. Let them hear them. He said, and he said, "Nay, Father Abraham, no, Father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent." And he said unto him, "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." Please remember as you pray this morning, please remember Sister Rhonda Meyers. I failed to mention her in prayer, but they tried to put some stints in her heart. And um the next step would be open heart surgery. And there's some complications that they are battling with open heart surgery. But could we remember Ronda Myers uh in prayer today that God that God would touch her. You don't care. Put your Bible down and just ask God this morning to touch your heart. This message is for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come unto you today. Lord, I believe that Friday night that you spoke suddenly to my heart. And Lord, you gave me the verses. Oh God, you gave me, Lord, the the the the meat of this sermon, God, you gave it to me in a moment's time. And Lord, I pray today that I could deliver it the way that you would be pleased with today. God, anoint my mind, anoint my tongue, and Lord, help me today to be led by you in the delivery of this. And let it touch many hearts today. And let people decide today that they're going to serve the Lord. Let people decide today that they're going to serve the Lord with all their heart. Let people decide today they're going to repent, God, and they're going to go back to their first love. And Lord, I just ask you to to touch, Lord. Father, touch Rhonda Myers today. Touch her heart, Lord. God, you know all things, Lord. You You know what needs to happen. I pray for healing, Lord. I pray for healing for her body this morning. In Jesus' name we all pray. Jesus name. Amen. And you may be seated. I want to minister today. And please allow this thought to se to seep into your heart. And as I go through the scripture today, you'll see where this title is applicable. But I want to preach this morning on two prayer requests from hell. to prayer requests from hell. You know, Jesus Christ was a master master storyteller. Uh there is no one to ever master the art of telling a story like Jesus could tell you a story. Jesus could tell you a story and and put it right in front of you with his wording. He was a He was a master storyteller. He could he could pull you into the story. He could cause you with his words to see what he was speaking of. You would you you you could understand it that this was a story. But then you would begin to understand that the story is all about a spiritual principle, a spiritual uh uh precept, a a spiritual guide, a spiritual guide to behavior how that you ought to live. And he would he would weave the story in. He he also taught church, he also taught by comparison. He would he would teach you a lesson by comparison. For example, he taught on we we spoke of this a couple of weeks ago. He taught on the wise v virgins and he taught on the foolish virgins and he used the comparison there between the wise virgins and and the foolish virgins. He also spoke about a swer and seed. He he spoke about good ground and bad ground. He spoke about a faithful manager and an unfaithful manager. He spoke about an unjust steward and a righteous steward. He spoke about he spoke about sheep, but he also spoke about could somebody help me? He spoke about sheep and he also spoke about goats. All right. He he teaches he teaches by comparison. He he talked about the way to heaven and and and and the way to hell. He talked about the two roads to heaven. uh the two roads that either would lead you to heaven or one would lead you to hell. And he said he said the road to hell is very wide. All right? And he he he said that that road to hell is very he's very wide. And then he said many are in that wide road. In other words, he was saying if a person goes to hell, there's a lot of different ways that they can go to hell. But he said, "When it comes to going to heaven, narrow is the way and straight is the gate and few there be that find it." So he he teaches he teaches by comparison. We come to this and it is not a parable. It is not a parable. It is an actual event that took place in the Bible. It actually had taken place. But Jesus uses this event. Jesus uses this event, a comparison to teach a spiritual reality and a spiritual principle. He said that there was a certain rich man. There was a certain rich man clothed in purple and fine linen and he fared sumptuously every day. Now, on the surface, this just looks like that he liked to wear the color of purple, but yet it's what purple stood for in that day. No common person could afford the dye that was used to make a purple garment. It was extremely rare and it was extremely extremely expensive and only the extreme wealthy would be able to purchase the dye and have the garment dyed into purple. The fine linen, the fine linen there was linen that had been worked with. It was the softness of any kind of cloth that a person could wear close to their skin. Fine linen was made to to give comfort to those that are wearing. He might have had a purple robe on the outside, but on the inside of that purple robe was fine soft linen. It didn't scratch the flesh. It didn't cause you to have any discomfort, but it was fine. It was it was fine linen. And of course once again once again this fine linen was only for the extreme wealthy. Only the wealthy could afford to wear only the wealthy could afford to wear the purple and the fine line the fine linen. And then it adds another thing that he fared or he lived. He fared lived sumptuously every day. That simply means that every meal that this man would eat would be gourmet. Every meal, every every egg, every piece of meat, every piece of bread was made by the finest. It was the finest this and the finest piece of bread and the finest meat and the finest egg and every every meal was a gourmet meal. Although it doesn't say it here, but he probably had many servants that did nothing for him but wait on him. He he he he well I was going to say probably, but I'm gonna go on out there and he didn't know what an iron looked like. He he didn't know what a bucket to draw water looked like because when he got up every morning, there was somebody waiting that had already filled the tub with water. When he got ready to put his robes on, unlike most of us today who left ironing boards up and steam irons at our home, it was already there for him. No one No one He didn't have to break an egg and fry fry a piece of baloney. He He didn't He He didn't even He didn't even have to put anything in the microwave. It was all ready for him just as he had ordered it. They knew, you know, some of you visit uh restaurants here in town, Waffle House, Mexican restaurant, Chinese restaurant. You go there so frequent. You go there so frequently that when you walk in the door, they already know the drink. They already bring it to the table because you you've been there. You've been there so much. And you don't sometimes you don't even have to tell them you want the the number four or the number six that you just look and say the usual. They they've seen you there enough. These cooks had had cooked for this man that they knew how he liked his eggs. They they they knew just just the right way that he liked uh just the Sister Carpenter just just the right amount of peanut butter on your toast. Just the right amount of jelly and peanut butter mix. Just the right amount. Not too much peanut butter. Not and not too much jelly. And and and and and not a hint of the toast being burnt. I mean, it it it's got to be light brown. It's it's got to be and you just read between every line I just told you. All right. But it's just got to be just right. Um I looked up and did a little research on the lifestyles of the rich and famous. As a matter of fact, several years ago, there was a there was a show on television called the lifestyles of the rich and famous. And um I I looked up several of the rich and the famous and they own um huge jets and one person the rich and famous owns a u owns a uh like a 200 foot yacht and u owns multiple multi-million dollar homes around the not only the country but around around the world and has 80 or 90 80 or 90 servants governments that do nothing but but but but that wait on them. Don't have to wait in line. Got enough money. Got enough money that when Disney shuts down at night, got enough money that the people stay there, the employees stay there and you get Disney all by yourself for four or five hours up into the night. That that actually happens. They they don't want to have to stand in line. They don't want to have to get in that line that says uh uh two hours from this point. they, you know, they go right on because it's shut down. They just got they just got this this kind of wealth. And I I'm telling you all that to pull you into the picture. This was more than likely exactly like this rich man clothed in purple and finally and fared sumptuously every day. Jesus pulls us in. But now he goes to the total opposite. He goes to the total opposite. Remember, because he teaches by comparison, he goes to the total opposite. He he goes to a certain beggar named Lazarus. And I'll inject this here. The name Lazarus means the help of Jehovah. The help of Jehovah. How would you like to have a name like that? The help of Jehovah. Certain beggar named Lazarus. He was povertystricken. He was not only povertystricken, he was in extremely poor health. He had some kind of infection, some kind of blood infection that caused there to be large open sores on his body. He was povertystricken. He was sick and he was helpless. His clothing is rags. His clothing is rags. What a comparison. His clothing is rags. And not only that, but his food that he eats, his food is eating out of people's garbage cans. And that's exactly why he's at the rich man's house is because he only wanted what they would take out and what they would put in a garbage can. I made the statement one time about I can't imagine eating out of a out of a out of a dumpster. I can't imagine eating out of somebody's garbage can. And a person came up to me that God had done a marvelous work in their life. And he said, "Pastor," he said, "The reason you can't imagine it," he said, "you've never really been hungry." And he said, "If you really ever get hungry, you get desperate when you get hungry." Sometimes I think we add the same thing in our walk with God. Are we really hungry? >> Or do we go to God like we go to our refrigerator of the morning and open it up and have to stand there and see what I want today? He um he said, "If you get hungry enough," he said, "you go to McDonald's and climb in their dumpster. If you get hungry enough, you'll sit at Burger King and wait for somebody to take their tray and put in the garbage and you go over and you'll get it out of the garbage before they before they run you off." His clothing was rags. His food was eating out of garbage cans. He is in constant pain. He is in continual constant pain. And I hate to bring this last sentence up and may God help our stomachs to settle, but the dogs with their unusual si smell and ability to smell. The dogs, the wild dogs could get a scent of the rotting flesh on his body. And the dogs would come and the dogs would lick the open sores on this on this man. Now Jesus, today you cannot get more of a comparison, right, than the rich man clothed in purple and fine linen, fairing sumptuously every day and Lazarus rags eating from a dumpster. sores, dogs, etc. You can't get more of a of a comparison than this. But then the Bible, the story takes a turn and the story says that and the beggar died and the beggar died. It's amazing that in the story the beggar dies first. He dies first. Lazarus dies first. And um I think there's some meaning. I think there's some meaning to that. The beggar, he dies first and then the rich man dies. You see today, brothers and sisters, ladies and gentlemen, today you see understand this principle. It's not how long you live that matters. It's where you go when you die that matters. >> So no, not how long you live. It's where you go when you die. So the Bible now says that the same thing that the identical they have nothing in common. Riches, rags, dumpster eating, fairing sumptuously. They have nothing in common but one thing, death. They both die. Hebrews 9 and 27 says, "And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this death, the judgment." Can I tell you today, we all have an appointment? >> And we're not going to miss it. Right? >> And we can live like we're never going to die. But the reality of it is we're going to die. >> If Jesus doesn't return, we're all going to be the centerpiece of a funeral one day. That will be you and that will be I. But I I like what and Billy Graham got it from a religious uh preacher in the 18th century. But this preacher says this. He said one day you will hear that brother so and so has died. He said don't believe it. He said for at that moment I am more alive than I have ever been in all of my existence on this world in this world. Can I tell you today and this is what keeps me going. This is what should keep us all going is that this is real. There is eternal life. There is life after this life and this life is only the dressing room of preparation for that that that life that's after this life. And when we close our eyes and by the help of God, we close our eyes, our brain stops working and our lungs and our hearts cease to beat and cease to breathe. And we open our eyes, we we inhale. But I believe if we can embrace the gospel that the exhale can be in the presence of the one who died for us and shed his blood for us. It's real. It's an appointment we're all going to keep. Doesn't matter if you're in riches. It doesn't matter if you're in rags. Psalms 89 and verse 48 says it this way. What man is he that liveth and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? In other words, he's he's saying there's not a man that lives that shall not shall not see death. There's no one rich enough to deliver himself from the power of the grave. Ecclesiastes 9 and verse number three says this is an evil. This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun that there is one event one event unto all. One event unto all. Yay. Also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil and madness is in their heart while they live. And after that they go to the dead. For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope. For a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die. But the dead know not anything, neither have they anymore a reward. For the memory of them is forgot. You You see what he's saying there? He's saying there's one event that's going to happen to everybody. It's going to happen to kings and potentates and poppers. It's going to happen to all of us one day and that is death. But the writer says that a living dog is better than a dead lion. You see, everybody wants to be the lion in life. But you got to understand something with me that what we have to do with life right now is live the way that God has ordained for us to live. >> You want to be a lion? I would rather be a living dog than a dead lion. Why? A dead lion has no hope. But a living dog has hope in a God who is able to change us, remake us, and set us on the right path to heaven. >> Amen. This is why we need to be this way in Ecclesiastes 9 and 10. Listen to this. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might. For there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave where thou goest. You better get busy now. Cuz when they lay you to rest, there's no work going on there. Whatever we're going to do for God, we better do it now, church. We must not delay. We must not procrastinate. Whatever we're going to do, we're going to do now. Both of them, the rich man and Lazarus, both of them suffered and fell prey and captive to the same grip of death. Can I tell you the finest hospitals cannot deliver you from death? There is not a drug, a prescription that can deliver you from death. And in case I have to tell you this, there is no fountain of youth. >> There's no fountain of youth. Doesn't matter if you're Donald Trump today or Chad Ericson. That's I don't know. I don't know why y'all thought that was funny. Somehow that was matter of fact I thought there was a little humor too but it doesn't matter brother Ericson death is coming to us all the rich man the beggar but here's where things changed. The Bible says that after they died that the angels come. What a sight. What a sight. little old beggar that wore rags. Dogs came. He'd ate out of dumpsters and what have you. When he drew his last breath, beautiful, angelic, indescribable, unimaginable beings swept in and they picked him up and they carried him into a place called Abraham's bosom, which is which is paradise. He's not clothed in rags anymore. He's clothed in the finest. He's not living watching dogs come and lick his wounds. He's not having to shoe off the wild dogs as they lick his open wounds. But he now becomes entertained by angelic beings that that walk around him. And now he he he is in he's in paradise. He's in paradise. But when the rich man died, the Bible said he was buried. Look, look at the two different directions, Lazarus went up and the rich man went down and the rich man was buried. You know, it didn't matter. Would you imagine with me? Would you wouldn't you imagine with me today that this week having the loss of Dolly Pardon? Wouldn't you imagine with me, Brother P? I I would imagine this that that she was taken to the finest of the finest of the finest funeral homes. And I say in Nashville, it may be it may be the world prepared her body for a funeral. Would you? I'd say that would be true today. The finest Wouldn't it be safe to say that when the rich man died, he was taken to the finest funeral home? I guarantee you that when the family of the rich man stood in that room with those caskets, they didn't have to choose that one that was wallpaper put over wood. Okay? The finest wood, the finest that could be the finest that could be that could be given was was given was given to you. The finest of all was given. And um he was buried. He buried his body. But the Bible said, "And in hell, in hell he lift up his eyes being in torments." Torments. Now this word torment here, if you study the word out, torment or torture was an actual machine and a method that they would use to get the truth out of you. They would torture you. They had a certain machine and they had a certain method. They called it torture. And it was to cause you to tell the truth. It was to cause you to tell the truth. And in hell, the rich man lift up his eyes. And notice the wording. It said, "And being in torment." Being in torment. He's there in hell now. What are you going to ask for now being in torment? And he seeth Abraham and Laz he seeth Lazarus in Abraham's bosom and he cries out, "Would you send my chef? Would you send my servant with my favorite golden cup and my favorite drink? No. No. Because in hell there's going to be a lot of truth come out in hell. There's going to be a lot of truth that's going to come out. And the truth was that man just wanted Lazarus something that he would not touch here on this earth. Can you imagine that? You cannot get be you cannot get beyond my gate. You cannot get in my presence. But in hell what he would not allow to be close to him on earth. He said he can take his finger and he can dip his finger his finger in water in the tip. As a matter of fact, this is the tip of his finger in water. And I will allow him to touch my tongue. I got news for you today. What people would not allow on earth, they're going to beg for it in hell. What they would not allow, what they said, they had no time for. I believe that the torture of hell will be causing people to say, "I needed more of God. I needed more of this. I was too prideful. I was too macho. I was too vain. I acted like spiritual things didn't matter to me. But inside my heart, I longed for them. I'm going to tell you, hell is going to be the place of torment. And the truth is going to come out. >> Just just just just just water. Just just just water. What a change has come. What a change has come. Job said it in Job 14:15. If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time, will I wait till my change come? You may live be living like the rich man today. But I got news for you, brother. Your change is coming. You may be living like a rich man, a rich person, sister, but I got news for you. A change is coming. You may be a righteous child of God whose life is filled with trials and vexation, whose life is filled with unexpected uncomfortable things in your life. But I want to preach to you today and tell you there's a change coming, brother. There's a change coming. Job said, "I'm full of sores. My joints are out. I've buried all my children. My wife is not even on my side." But he said, "I'll wait right here until my change come. Then then shall God call and I will answer." Can I tell you something? Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord deliverth him out of them all. There's a change coming, brother. There's a change coming, sister. Do you know him? There's a change coming. A rich man is begging now while Lazarus is fairing sumptuously through eternity. There is a change. There is a change. And then to my title, the first prayer request came from him. It's the first prayer request. You ever thought about prayer requests from hell? That quick? It came to my mind the other night. Just that quick. A prayer request from hell was a prayer request. The rich man had had no time. Had no time to pray while he was on this earth. Had no time to come by. We We listen. We all have the same 24 hours. Nobody gets 28. We all wake up with the same 24 hours given to us. It's simply what you choose to do with your 24 hours that will determine a good change or a bad change in your life. It's what you He had no time for prayer. He had no time for church. Imagine that them you know God wanting me to give him time in his house and God wanted me to give him time just he and I talking but he had time in hell. He gives the first prayer request. He gives the first prayer request. He says, "Please allow Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and touch my tongue for I am tormented in this flame. I am telling the truth now." Remember I told you that Lazarus meant God's help. I wonder how many times because riches will never make you happy. And you need to get that inside of your head right now. Get it good. Riches will not make you happy. Oh, if I could get a bigger home, if I could get a better this, if I could get a better mate, if I could get a better this, it's never going to make you happy. I wonder I wonder, brother Lawless. I wonder how many times that rich man, fairing sumptuously every day, looked out the window of his house to a man called Lazarus, whose name meant God Jehovah helps. I wonder how many times he stood there and denied himself. Money won't make you happy. Cars won't make you happy. People will not make you happy. Hear me today. People, money will not make you happy today. The only thing that will make you happy. Pray it while you're here on earth. Oh God, to know you more, to know you in a deep relationship, that's the only thing that brings La Ling. He prays his first prayer. Father Abraham said Lazarus that he may dip the tip this finger in water and for I'm tormented touch my tongue for I'm tormented this flame. But the prayer request was answered with a denial. It can't happen because there's God has fixed a great gulf. There's a great expanse. There's a gulf that has been fixed that God fixed it and those that are in hell cannot get out and those that are here cannot go to hell. Said there's no way for us to come to you or even for you to come to me. He's denied his first prayer request for water. That's all he wanted was water. Can I tell you today, brothers and sisters, we can pray that prayer right now and God will give it to us. God is the refreshing water. And God's refreshment, the Bible says, with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak unto his people. And this is the refreshing. But then it would be it would be something that that verse ended there. But the verse goes on. I believe it's Isaiah 28 and8. The verse goes on or Isaiah 28:10 and it says, "Yet for all this they would not." Is it amazing? Today I'm preaching to you the water. I'm preaching the only thing that can satisfy you today. I am giving you a prayer request that God will answer. If you ask God for the water today, he will give you the water today. If you ask God for the refreshing today, he will give you the refreshing today. If you're tired of living in your sin and you're tired of living in your misery and you're tired of living a hopeless life of despair and you want to cry out today, lose your pride and cry out from your purple and your fine linen and all that you got and say, "God, I need you today. He is faithful to begin to pour the water out on you." Oh, I wish you'd give him some praise. I wish some of you that know what the water tastes like today. I wish some of you would give him the praise right now. It can't happen. The rich man's prayer in hell is not answered. But our prayers here in heaven here and on earth can happen. That's the first prayer. And here is the second prayer. And he even uses the word pray. Did you catch that in the text? I even went over it again. I pray thee. He's praying from hell. I pray thee. Verse 28. I have five brothers. Please send Lazarus to my five brothers that he Lazarus may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, they have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them. And he says, back from hell. Now he follows Abraham. But if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And Abraham answers back, and he said unto him, if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead. You won't you hear me? You know what the second prayer in hell was? His second prayer in hell was the evangelizing of his family. The second prayer in hell, listen to this, church. The second prayer after he prayed for something for himself and was told there's a great golf fit. Nobody can come from heaven into hell and nobody can come from hell into heaven. He now says, "Well, if I can't get out of here and nobody can come here, then send someone from heaven to witness to my lost dying family. I don't want my family to come here. I don't want my brothers to come here. Oh God, baptize our church a fresh and a new today with a compassion for the lost. >> You see, the reason we've lost our compassion for the lost, I'm going to preach to you this morning. The reason we've lost our compassion to the lost is we really don't believe what we say we believe. >> There is a heaven to gain and there is a hell to shun. And if you know Jesus Christ and you have a relationship with him, you're going to spend eternity. You're going to be changed in a moment, in a twinkle of an eye, and corrupt corruption shall put on incorruption. And we shall ever be with the Lord in eternity in glorified bodies in a place of paradise. We're going to be in that place of no more death, no more pain, no more cancer, no more troubles, no more sorrows, no more hopelessness. We're going to be in that place. You hear me? We're going to be in that place. We don't only need to hear from heaven when we're burying our saints of God. We need to hear from heaven right now. We need to hear that he is the place. We really don't believe it. That's the man who sings a song. I wish somebody singing around here. You never mentioned Jesus to me. You showed me not the light to see though I passed you by day by day. The way you did not you you did not show me the way. You never mentioned Jesus to me. You know why we never mention is we really don't believe what we say we believe. When a person dies lost, they die without God. They don't get a brand new body. They don't live in paradise. They go to a place of unimaginable torment. They go to a place, the Bible says where, it doesn't say the worm. It doesn't say, it doesn't say the worm. It says their worm dieth not. You know why it uses the word their worm? Because in their days, a human brain looked like nothing but a pile of thick worms. and they just simply said their memory does not die. They take their memory to hell. Now, what's going to make hell even more hell is think about somebody that had God's help at the gate of his house. He wasn't somebody. Listen, five times he calls Abraham father and five times Abraham calls him son. We're not talking about a gentile. A gentile would never call Abraham father. And Abraham would never have called a gentile son. He is a man that was raised in the temple. He was raised with the with the with the law being given. He was raised around the songs of Zion. He was raised around the ark of the covenant. He was raised around the things of God. But he chose to make money than to make a life for God. And he takes that memory to hell with him. I don't want my family in hell. That's why I've got a list. That's why I pray for them. My children are not home yet. The devil's got a trick for them yet. But I want my family to walk on streets of gold. I pray for my wife. I pray for my son-in-laws. I pray for my daughter-in-law. I pray for my family. I walk the aisles of this church. I I lay my hands on the pews because I don't want anybody to be lost. Come on. Church is more about happy slappy feelgood. Church is more about helping you to be a better man and the champion in you. Church is all about going to heaven. Church is all about escaping that place. You really don't believe it. I wonder I wonder how many more fasting days we would have on our calendar. I wonder how many more prayer time would we have on our calendar if we really believe that our prodical children we if the trumpet sounds our prodal children will be lost >> we're not really wish we if we believe that >> if we if we believe that I'm telling you I'm telling if you if you believe that you'd be looking for every opportunity to get them in the house of God you'd be you'd be looking for any opportunity you'd be praying for them I'm going tell you something I'm going to tell you something it is true it is God's gospel truth if you will Pray it to God. It's God's will. If you will call your lost loved ones names over and over and over again and ask God to send angels and ask God to move and ask God, that's a prayer request that God will move. At least at least I can lay down at night. And if they go to hell, they'll go to hell over my prayer. They'll go to hell over my fasting. They'll go to hell over me. At least I can lay down and say, "I've done everything that I could do." You never mentioned Jesus to me. You never showed me the light. I wonder if we just lift our voices in a prayer. We can just lift our voice in a prayer right now. God help us. Oh God, help us. God. Oh God, help us. Lord, I'm talking about the prayer request from hell today. I'm talking about the prayer request from hell today. My God. Oh my God. I'm I'm talking about the prayer request from hell today. Abraham, send him to my brothers. I don't want my brothers to come here. >> I witnessed it. Lord, I hope this doesn't come across. I am nothing. I am nothing. There is nothing special about Kenny Carpenter. I am nothing. But when I yoke up in prayer, I become more than a conqueror. I am I am limited in so many ways. My education is limited. My wisdom is limited. My knowledge is limited. But when I yoke up in prayer with a God that is limitless, with a God that knows all things, I'm going to tell you. I'm going to tell you. Listen to me now. I'm going to tell you something right now. I have prayed. I have seen marriages in this church. I have seen marriages in this church. I've seen separations. I've seen marriages in this church on the verge of divorce. Now, I'm not saying that some have not always went through with it, and you know that they have. But I could tell you of families that were on the verge of divorce. I could tell you of families that were separated. But because they were on the verge of divorce and because they wouldn't say, they were separated did not stop me from coming in this room with nobody in it. And calling their names out, God sent an angel. God send them. Now, whether or not they listen to God, that's not my job. My job is to be an intercessor. My job is to My job is to be that intercessor. That is my job. Come on. You don't decide. You don't decide, saints, if they get it or not. You just decide you're going to pray for them. I've had them come and say, I've watched them. I've watched them walk back in the house of God holding hands. I've talked to them and counseling. They say, you know, we just got to thinking the other day and we just got to thinking and and I just got to thinking and I just got to thinking and I'm thinking and I'm thinking I know why you got to thinking. Why you got to thinking is because God's in his spirit there. >> We got a city. Why Why do you keep on harping? Why do you keep on harping on the plan of salvation? Because listen to me. They said, "Don't don't don't try to paint me in the corner. Are you saying if you're not this way, you're not saved?" What I'm saying is what the Bible says. The Bible says you must be born again. I didn't write it. I just get to preach it. You must be born again of the water and the spirit. Come on, church. Come on, church. That's why we're here. That's why we're here. That's why God put us in blood. >> Musicians, would you come? >> The prayer requests from hell. >> I want to be refreshed. There's no refreshment in hell. I wonder how many prayers I wonder how many prayers in hell. I I believe hell is a prayer meeting. I believe hell is a place of truth being told. I believe that there's truth being told in hell because they're in torment. I believe there's prayers going on in hell right now. And I believe the prayers are similar to the rich man's prayer. I believe there's prayers. Oh God, I don't want my boys to come here. Oh God, I don't want my daughter to come here. Oh. Oh God, I don't want my daddy to come here. Oh God, oh God, would you in mercy, God, would you send somebody? Would you send somebody? I don't want I don't want my family lost. We sit idly by while the devil flaunts them in front of us with drug addictions. We stand idly by while people while people admit to us they're they're contemplating taking their lives and and and and they're all that and there's a there there's something you know that they tell us these things and and and and and we we're calling the right people to get them the right help and that's our obligation to call the right people and get them the right help. But more than just that, can you call on God for them and not stop? Let me tell you, well, when do you die praying? When they die, you hear me today. Mark them off your list when they die. Because that's it. I don't care what they tell you about burning candles. The Bible says, "As a tree fallth, there shall it lay." when they you don't know how long I'm going to pray for you and how long I'm going to pray for our family till we roll them down the aisle. >> I wonder what would happen if we got that bulldog tenacity to get a hold of the horns of the altar. God, I'm not going to quit. I guarantee you within a month or two, you would begin to see changes in them and possibly if they re if they listen, we know God's going to go deal with them. We know we we know God's going to we know God's going to deal with them. We know God's going to deal. Did you hear me? We know God's going to deal with them. That's his will. But he said, "I looked for a man." This is what God said. He said, "I looked for a man. I wondered." The word there means amazement. I was amazed that there was no intercessor, but I just looked for a man that would come and stand in the camp, fill up the gap so that my judgment could be poured out. Hell, listen to this, and I'm done. Heaven is a reward. Hell is a judgment. Hell is a judgment. But maybe all it would take is for a daddy or a mama or a brother or sister or just a concerned coworker to come and stand in the gap. Say, "Jesus, send your spirit to Tom. Send your spirit to Barbara. Send your spirit, God. Begin to deal with them and then look for those signs. Would you would you stand with your pastor today? Would you stand with me right now? Prayer request from hell. Lord, give me water. No. You had an opportunity for water on earth. Your pastor begs you to come to the altar time after time. You were too moo. You were too pride driven. No man going to tell you what to do. So no God, send them to my family. No, they have Moses. They have the prophets. They've got to hear them. No, Father Abraham. But if one went to them from the dead, they would repent. No, they wouldn't. Unless they hear from Moses and the prophets and they receive it, they'll never be changed. Would you bow your heads and close your eyes with me this morning? The prayer requests from hell. The prayer requests from heaven. Singers, you can come across the platform. The prayer requests from heaven. I don't want my family lost. God, I don't want my family lost today. God, I've got extended family, God, that if you came, Lord, by your word, they're lost. God, I'm not judging anybody. Your word's already done that. That they would be lost. I'm really not going to plead with anybody today, but I'm going to do this. If you're here today in need of salvation, would you come immediately? Would you would you walk down here immediately today? If you have not yet been baptized, if you have not yet been spiritfilled, would you would you come immediately to the altar today? Would you come? God's help is asking, God's help is calling for you right now. Would you come? Would you come? Those of you, and I I know I say this, I know I say this, but I got to ask you today. When you come to the altar in just a just a few seconds, would you push in as close as you can? If you have a family member or know someone that you want to pray for today, would you make your way down to this altar right now? Would you make your way? Stand if you can push in as close as you can, please. God, I love you. Lord, I thank you. God, touch. God, touch today. God touch today. God touch today. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Happy birthday. >> >> Hallelujah. Bless. >> >> Come on. If you if you see somebody that needs prayer, would you go pray for them right now? God will answer prayer here. God will not answer a request from hell. But he'll answer requests from here. Come on. If you see somebody that needs prayer, go pray with them right now. Hallelujah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. >> >> As long as there is breath in their body, there is hope in their soul. Come on. As long as they're alive, a living dog is better than a dead lion. Oh, God. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh, come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. You feel like praying for somebody, go pray for them right now. Hell does not answer that. Hell will not give you refreshment. Hell will not evangelize your family. But right now, God will give it. Oh, God. >> >> I got to I got to stop right here and I got to direct your attention to the baptismal pool because there's Kenny and Jess right there. Kenny and Jess, we love you. Kenny and Jess, we love you. We're so glad for what God has done in your life. Both of you have been baptized Jesus name. And both of you receive the Holy Ghost. And now a son comes this morning. Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Lord, I know you're going to remit the sin. But God, filled with the Holy Ghost. Fill with the Holy Ghost. Touch the tip of his tongue. Touch the tip of his tongue in Jesus name. >> Thank you Jesus. keen indeed upon the profession of your faith and obedience to the word of God, I now indeed baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins. And the Bible says you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in Jesus name. >> >> Sing for above all else. >> >> Oh yes. Oh for above. Heat. Heat. Heat. You have to do to me. Don't let me lost forever. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Oh yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. >> >> Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. >> >> to me. Don't let me for >> >> Come on, let's form a great choir here. Come on, sing it. Sing it. Sing it. >> Oh yes, God. >> I must be. >> Sing it now. for whatever you have to do to me. So let me be lost for eternity for above. If you're serious about soulwinning, raise your hands and ask God to help you right now. God, I believe you gave me this message today. Oh God, I believe you gave me this message today. God, I believe you gave me this message, God. prayer. Two repair two prayer requests of hell that were both denied. No water on the tip of your tongue. No one going back from hell to witness to your family. So today, I'm going to ask you something. I feel compelled in my heart. Please do not fall prey to the devil who wants to play in your mind that your loved one who got offended and left God and left the house of God. And sometimes we play with words. Well, they got offended at church. If if they're not serving God, they're not serving God. All right. But the devil, would you hear this? The devil will play in your mind the offense. Oh, they're they ain't never coming back. Boy, he loves to hear you say that. Oh, I don't believe they'll ever come back. I I don't believe they'd ever step a foot back in this door. Then you're saying that God and their will, cuz God can make them miserable. But God's looking for an intercessor. God's looking for an intercessor. So listen, your prayer for your loved one is greater than their offense. Your prayer for your loved one is greater. I wish somebody say greater. >> Say it with me. My prayer >> My prayer >> for my loved one >> is greater >> than their offense. >> That's why we need to pray. That's why we need to keep on praying. We need to keep on praying. >> If it's a month from now and they still haven't come, keep on praying. Keep on praying. Keep on praying. Sandra Ammons made a promise to her dying mother about her brother, Sister Kerson's son, Sister Ammon's brother. Don't let him die lost. He's out of church. Don't let him die lost. And prayer was made. And I would say for a time it looked like it was just prayer being made. This all of a sudden old Jeff starts showing up for church. And old Jeff starts coming around and old Jeff got refilled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. You see, we can't see God's time clock. that Jeff didn't have a lot of years to live. If he had any if he had many years, I don't know how long he lived. He He didn't know he was that sick when he got back. But on God's time appointment, God had a time appointment for Jeff to die. But thank God, somebody prayed for Jeff and God went to him and God went to him and God went to him and Jeff said, "Yes, I'll come back. Yes, I will. And the same thing will happen. At least at least at least God will deal with them and they will be given an opportunity to say yes. But I know I'm a broken, but if they go to hell, let them go to hell over a multitude of prayers that said, "Touch them, Lord." One more time. Believe Brother Ericson and brother Hanley going to come with some announcements. I love you. Thank you for letting me preach to you today from the bottom of my heart. One more time, would you lift up hands and just thank God for what you heard today? We love you, Jesus. Come on. That's it. Clap your hands to him for a moment. Lord, we thank you for your word today. I thank you for every heart that was changed today. Jesus name.
