you have your Bibles and would stand with me this morning and um we have several guests that are here today and please excuse me for maybe not calling your name individually but thank you so much for making First Apostolic Church your place of worship this morning um as I heard I believe I heard brother Nolan over the speaker this morning online saying a phrase that we much believe out of all the churches here in Blunt County that you could be at this morning the fact that you would choose First Apostolic church for your place of worship is a tremendous compliment to this church and we don't we do we don't take it for granted we we don't we don't take it for granted but I do want to welcome one special guest with us today that are dear to our hearts and um if they're here here to get the Holdings back to Ohio brother and sister Ivy I have problems with you today but brother and sister Ivy we are so glad to have you at First Apostolic church this morning in the presence of the Lord and we welcome we welcome you um turn with me in your Bibles this morning I'm in a teaching mood I'm in a teaching mood right now First Corinthians chapter 12 and verse number 13 1 Corinthians chapter 12 verse 13 listen to the Apostle Paul as he um tells us the importance of the spirit of God Paul says for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body everybody say one one one spirit and we're all baptized into one body whether we be Jews or gentiles Iles whether we be Bond or free and have all been made to drink into one spirit I want to continue today and my um my subject today that I want to teach on is the three types of speaking in tongues that is in the New Testament there's three types of speaking in tongues that's mentioned in the New Testament father thank you for your word today thank you for your spirit today thank you Lord that your word and spirit combined God creates a new man God your word and your spirit combined created the Earth that we now live on and Lord your word and your spirit combine creates new men and new women in your image and your likeness Lord for the next few M minutes Lord would you anoint my lips of clay as I expound your word god upon speaking with other tongues and Lord I'll give you the praise and give you the honor in Jesus name we all pray today amen and amen give him a hand of Praise as you're being seated there is much confusion and misunderstanding in religious circles today on the subject of speaking in a Heavenly language there is much confusion to the point that some say it's of the devil all the way to the other point that it's the language the Angels speak there's much confusion and misunderstanding in these circles on the subject of speaking in a Heavenly language now by the the word Heavenly I mean that language that has its origin that has its origin from God in other words when we're talking from the Bible about speaking with other tongues we're talking about a language a language it's just not gibberish it is a language of which whose origin is is from God God now the Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to rightly divide the word of God to rightly divide the word of God in other words he was saying don't take the word of God out of context don't don't take it out of context uh I know many of you along with me have said something and someone took it out of its context and when they took it out of the surroundings it it was made to sound like something that I didn't say can you say Amen you see Paul said that we were to rightly divide the word now if you if if you really just want to know how you ought to study your Bible and anytime somebody brings you a scripture that and and they're trying to prove a point number one it's a sad thing when you have to take scripture and force it to fit into your Doctrine we don't go to the Bible to prove our Doctrine Doctrine right we go to the Bible to get our Doctrine let every let every word be true and every man of Li the world the the the the word will stand when the world is on fire Paul said to rightly divide it's very simple when you read your Bible number one who is speaking number two who is being spoken to number three what are they talking about so when someone brings a scripture to you an isolated scripture read before it and read after it find out who's speaking find out what dispensation there's seven of them in the scripture find out what dispensation these words are being spoken find out who is being spoken to Peter also joins with Paul and Peter also talked about those that would rest the scripture now not not not r s like rest in the scripture but w s that means to twist the scripture to twist it to get it and and one of the Greek words for rest is is to to pervert in other words you're taking something that is a good in and of itself and you twist it to where it causes causes harm then there's I read a little uh statement sometimes a book will give a story on a word that helps you understand the word it says that that many hundreds of years ago when they were trying to get a confession out of a criminal or an accused criminal they would put put them on a table and they would tie their hands to a roller and they tie their feet to a roller and they would begin to turn a crank which would stretch this individual or what they would call rest them it would stretch them until they finally whether the confession was true or false I do not know they may just wanted to relieve from the pain but they kept twisting until it the person finally said the words we don't have to put scripture on that table scripture plays if you know how to lay your hands on that keyboard if you know how to lay your hands on that keyboard that keyboard will play a sweet melody if you know how to lay your hands upon it but if you're like me and you lay your hands upon it plug years up nobody's ever asked me to play the piano at their wedding I've never been asked why because I don't know how to place my hands on the appropriate keys can I tell you today that this book is not confused if we will know how through the Holy Ghost to lay our hands upon the proper keys of this book this book will play a song of redemption this book will play a song of Deliverance this book will put your life back together this book will save your soul this book will put your marriage back together this book will help you to raise children that'll live for God this book will heal you when you're sick it'll warm you when you're cold it'll rebuke you when you're wrong and it'll praise you when you're doing good can you give him a hand of Praise this morning now although in circles there may be a lot of confusion on speaking with tongues I will tell you that the scripture is crystal clear about speaking in tongues if you first understand there's three types of heavenly language mentioned in the New Testament the first the first that we will deal with this morning is an outward sign of regeneration of regeneration or of recreation God gives a visible sign of a Heavenly language that is an outward sign that regeneration of that individual has taken place the second method and we'll get to that if not today we'll get to that but the second is a method of spiritual Communication in other words the scripture talks about us praying in a Heavenly language that is for the purpose of communication for the purpose of communication and the third the third is a method of edification to the entire body to the entire body so so the first the first the first is and everybody kind of mute your cell phones right right quick not not only the older I get the more my tear ducts um open up but the older I get the more sounds get to irritate me all right so um I preached the other day that fell right on the front Pew and his cell phone was going off the whole time and Lord blessed me amen anyway the sign of regeneration the second is the method of communication which is praying in a Heavenly Lang Heavenly language and the third is the method of educ edification which is the gift of tongues and interpretation now let me let me explain something on that third method the gift of interpretation do all have the gift of tongues and inter interpretation and the answer is no no we do not all have the gift of tongues and interpretation now let's go to Titus for a moment Titus Chapter three and verse number three and we will deal with the first sign and that is the sign the outward sign that regeneration has taken place in that individual's dead spirit listen to Titus in Titus Chapter 3 and verse number three and everybody say praise the Lord praise the Lord for we ourselves also were sometimes foolish and if you ever if you can relate to any of these words right here it be all right to confess and say Amen we ourselves also were sometimes foolish disobedient deceived ser serving divver lust and Pleasures getting quiet living in Malice and envy hateful Bo got a little loud there didn't it I noticed that was that sound was from the feminine tone there probably referring to a husband hateful and hating one another now that's what we look like before salvation that's what we look like but look at verse four but after that the kindness and love of God our savior toward men or toward man appeared now wait a minute that's what I look like before but after that the kindness and love of God our savior toward man appeared not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his Mercy he saved us are you looking at this he saved us how did he save us by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Ghost well now now now the renewing of the Holy Ghost you're talking about somebody that's had the Holy Ghost and they receive it all over again now wait a minute in original creation we had the Holy Ghost when God made man in the G when God made man Adam he filled him with the Holy Ghost when he breathed into him the breath of life he filled him with the Holy Ghost but because of sin Disobedience man lost that baptism man lost that spirit Spirit but God had a plan God had a plan and that plan was that God was going to become one of us pay the payment of our sin on Calvary rais from the dead on the third day Ascend up into heaven be the great mediator be the only Plan of Salvation be the only way truth and light and then he would send the Holy Ghost back into us and we would receive the renewing of the Holy Ghost verse six which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ Our Savior now let's look at what this is for Ezekiel 36:26 Ezekiel talks about what we received he says a new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put Within in you I'll take away the Stony heart out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of Flesh two things here he said I'm going to give you a new spirit a new spirit you see when we're born in Sp sin we have the spirit the Bible says we have the spirit of rebellion we have the spirit of the evil one that we fail prey to we have his spirit inside of us but God's plan was to put a somebody say new God wanted to put a new spirit in me well why does God want to put a new spirit in me because God wants to give me a new heart without God's spirit our heart our heart out of it issues all the sin of life but when God gives me a new spirit he gives me a new heart go over 2 Corinthians chap 5 and verse number 17 now Ezekiel said he's going to give us a new spirit he's going to give us a new heart but in 2 Corinthians 5 and verse 17 therefore If any man be in Christ he is a new creature that's got the word of Creation in it when God gives us a new spirit he gives us a new heart and that new spirit and new heart makes us a new creature or a new creation therefore If any man be in Christ he is a new creature look at these next few words old things are passed away behold All Things become new I don't know about you but I I'm understanding today more clear why we preach the might baptism of the Holy Ghost it's not an emotional Rush it's not something to add to our our bracelet of religious experiences a a little trinket to add there God gives us a new spirit and God gives us a new heart because God is going to make a new creation out of us oh I love this I I just love this today a new creation because Colossians look at Colossians 3:10 I want to pull these all together Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new man which is renewed in the knowledge after the image of him that created him now I want to tell you today I want to encourage somebody today your old song needs to be sung the old children's song needs to be sung he's still working on me to make me what I ought to be it took him just a week to make the moon and the sun Jupiter and Mars how loving and patient he must be he's still working on me can I tell you this this morning that when God fills us with the Holy Ghost he starts a work in us and don't get discouraged and don't don't get off of The Potter's Wheel don't get off the Pew don't leave your Bible at home don't give up on this cuz you got the Holy Ghost and a week later you still don't look like you should you still don't feel like you should you still got issues stay on that because he's going to work the Bible says he's going to work on us he gave us a new spirit he gave us a new heart because he's working on a new creation because day by day I'm becoming a new man I'm not what I used to be and I'm talking to you too we're not what we used to be but praise God we're not what I'm not what I used to be let me say it right I'm not what I want to be but praise God I'm not what I used to be if it took him days for creation is that not a sign to us today don't give up on him he wants to give you a new spirit he wants to give you a new heart he wants to give you a new creature and he wants to make you a new man that people look at you and say you're not the man that you used to be you're not the woman you used to be and it happened on the day of Pentecost it's why we're called Pentecostals it came on the day of Pentecost that Jewish feast and it's in Acts chapter 2 in verse number one and when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all with one Accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing Mighty Wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them clothing tongues like as a fire and it set upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other languages other tongues as the spirit gave them the utterance or as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak these other languages now I'm not going to spend long on this I just want to hit it and keep going because I got a lot to cover but some places have tried to teach and say oh God Ena them to preach the gospel there that day read the entire chapter number one they were not preaching the gospel they were preaching the mighty works of God they were saying the mighty works of God at least 18 of the 120 were speaking known languages but listen now it was not known to them good it was not known it was not known it was not known to them but God enabled them to speak in that language the wonderful works of God while also allowing this outward sign of speaking in a Heavenly language to be the sign that regeneration had taken place it was the indicator that the Regeneration had taken place now just common sense when someone tells you oh they preach the gospel there that day just read the entire chapter second chapter of Acts you will read where they said they were uh drunk with new wine they accused them of being drunk and they said what mean it this we hear every man in our language speak the wonderful works of God had they been preaching the gospel acts 237 which says when they heard this they were pricked in their heart and they said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles acts 237 would have been right under where it said we do hear them speak in our language the wonderful works of God but they were not speaking the gospel because Peter lifted up his voice and began and I want you to I want you to understand this today the only foundation for salvation is the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ born of a virgin God manifested In the Flesh and if anything tries to chip away at that Foundation we are yet in our sins he was ver virgin birth he was God With Us he did live some 33 years suffer bled and died for our sins rose again on the third day ascended up into heaven and thank God sent the Holy Ghost back to the Believers back to those that had believed the gospel back to them because God gave them a new heart come on somebody God gave them a new heart God gave him a new spirit God's making a new creature and God's making a new man we better really we better really appreciate the Holy Ghost it's the holy ghost that changes us it's the holy ghost that moves upon us there's no good in us there's no good in us but God there's no good in us but God and when they were filled Acts 2 and 4 and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them the utterance Peter preaches the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and at the end in Acts 237 the audience was was pricked in their heart and they said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles men and Brethren what shall we do what shall we do we have crucified the Christ Acts 2:38 then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and watch what happens to those that say it was a one- time thing God sent his Spirit one time upon them it must not be a one- time thing because Peter promised and said for baptize you in the name of Jesus for the remission of sin and you shall receive the what the gift of the Holy Ghost now why is the Holy Ghost called a gift because you didn't pay for it if I door Dash today and get me some stuff from Chick-fil-A and the man drives up or the woman drives up and hands me my order of grilled chicken nuggets and kale salad I don't say thank you for the gift why don't I say thank you for the gift because I paid for it why do we call the Holy Ghost a gift cuz we didn't pay for it he paid for it that's why the Holy Ghost is called a gift cuz he paid for it and amazing you just start teaching all of a sudden you start feeling the Lord now I believe it was about it was years later to the exact date I do not know but I know it was years later Peter was on the housetop down in japa he was waiting for them to to prepare a meal he went up on the housetop and there he had a he had a vision a sheet was let down from heaven tied at Each corner and he looked I guess it it looked like a screen a screen and on this sheet was all kinds of four four-footed Beast all kinds of unclean animals to him animals that he had been taught from a child don't eat them they're unclean stay away from them and he saw these unclean animals and he heard a voice from the Lord say rise Peter kill slay and eat and Peter said back to the Lord nay Lord for I've never eaten anything that's common or unclean and listen to what the Lord told him Peter don't you call what I have cleaned cleansed common or unclean he ain't talking about animals he's talking about it calvary he shed enough blood to cleanse every sinner that ever had been born or that would ever be born he shed his blood and he said Peter don't you call what I have cleansed common or unclean about that time unbeknown to him cornelus a gentile a man that Peter had been taught from a little boy doesn't have a covenant with God God God does doesn't even know the Gentiles they're dogs we don't eat with them we don't fellowship with them we walk on the other side of the road when they come down they are dogs they are alienated from the Covenant of God about that time unb knowing to him three days before that there was a gentile by the name of corneus that was a devout man he was serving God to the best of his ability he was a devout man he gave arms and prayed to God always an angel appeared to him it's in Acts chapter 10 an angel appeared to Cornus and said Cornus send down to japa for one Simon his surname is Peter and he shall tell you words where what by you in your house can be saved and Cornus sent men to go get Peter at japa and about that time God had done showed him don't you call what I have cleansed common or unclean and they were knocking at the door and and and they said uh they said we've been sent by Cornelius to have you come down and Peter went down took six men with him the Bible said he took six men with him I guess Peter probably thought I want some witnesses I'm going to get in trouble and when I stand in trial I want some witnesses with me so he took six men with him and they walked into the house of Cornelius and I can see him as he bows his head to go under the door he's kind of thinking I'm already in trouble I'm not I'm I'm not supposed to be under the roof of a gentile and he said says for what purpose have you called me here see Peter has no clue that God wants to pour out his Spirit upon the Gentiles he said why have you called for me and Cornelius rehearsed it to him an angel said you would come and tell me words whereby I could be saved and Peter stepped back and he made a statement he said I perceive and oh it is so true today that God is no respector of persons you ought to thank your God right now that he is no respector of persons and old Peter took off preaching what was he preaching the death the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ now I read a little article the other day that said in Bible days in Bible days that when an author would write something when an author would write something that authors and orators were two different types of people if an author wrote a book sister Thorp if an author wrote a book he wasn't going to read from the book because he was not an oror orators they were men I I read a little bit that they could speak so clearly that to pass some test you would have to fill your mouth with gravel and give a te give a speech that someone could understand while your mouth was filled with rocks so the the orator and the the the orator and the author were two different people now remember this Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith so now Jesus Christ authored this Plan of Salvation you still with me he authored this Plan of Salvation but I also read in this article church that the author would always stand close by the orator and it was nothing uncommon for the author to interrupt the orator nobody else could interrup him but the author had the right that at any moment he could interrupt the orator and that's exactly what happened Peter was preaching the death burial and resurrection and as he was preaching what God had authored this happened in Acts 10:44 while Peter I'll add the author yet spake these words the Holy Ghost which I'll add which I Peter is the orator and I'll add the Holy Ghost is the what author fa on all them which heard the word Peter is the orator for the author but the author the Holy Ghost is right there and as Peter is preaching the author says I'm going to interrupt you and they of the circumcision which believe were astonished as many as came with Peter because that on the Gentiles also Al was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God then answered Peter can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Ghost as as well as we which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we it's years later which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we you answer the question did God only pour it out on the day of Pentecost you answer the question no years later he is still pouring out the gift of the Holy Ghost the author has interrupted the author has interrupted the orator the orator was just telling the plan but the author said it's time for an interruption they didn't call them oh sweet Lamb of God now I have some belief that I don't I'm not so sure how far Peter would have went because when the author brother Holland interrupted him Peter's just up there talking and all of a sudden they must start doing like we do oh Tears start flowing and the next thing they know here these six guys looking said he's preaching and they're getting moved look at they're crying they're look they got their hands oh look look at the lips Trembling stammering Lips another tongue and all of a sudden one just with corus maybe he was the first one that just blurted out and begin to talk in other tongues and the the other one just blurted out Mrs Cornelius blurted out and and and cornelus junor blurted out and started talking in tongues and and when it settled down Peter said all right the author is now silent let me continue can any man forbid water that the should not be baptized I wish you'd say it with me as who have received the Holy Ghost as well as we so don't let anybody tell you that it only happened on the day of Pentecost and it only happened to preach the gospel years later well just like Peter thought just like Peter thought he did get in trouble there was a there was a group they had organized I guess this is the first organization they had organized did you hear Peter went to the Gentiles he did what he went and the Gentiles and he preached to him send him a registered letter let's call him before the council now I added that part in Acts 11 verse number one and the apostles and Brethren that were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God and when Peter was come up to Jerusalem they that were of the circumcision contended with him now the circumcision these were these people that were teaching oh yes God wants to give you a new heart a new spirit a new creature a new man but you got to get circumcised all right they believe that circumcision was part of the The Plan of Salvation and they were ugly arguing about it when they come up they contended with Peter saying verse three thou wentest into men uncircumcised and did eat with them but Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning and expounded it by order everybody say by order by order by order unto them saying saying I was in the city of japa praying and in a trance I saw a vision a certain vessel descend as it had been a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners and it came and it came even to me upon the which when I had fastened my eyes I considered and saw four-footed beast of the earth wild beast creeping things and foul of the air and I heard a voice saying unto me arise Peter slay and eat but I said not so Lord For Nothing common or unclean ha at any time entered into my mouth but the voice answered me again from Heaven what God hath cleansed that call not thou common this was done three times and all were drawn up again into heaven and behold immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was sent from cesaria unto me and the spirit bade me moved me to go with them nothing doubting moreover these six uh Brethren accompanied me sound like when he got called in he he took the six men with him we entered into the house the man's house he showed us how that he had seen an angel in his house which stood and said unto him send men to japa called for Simon his Sur name is Peter look at verse 14 who shall tell thee words whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved and as I begin to speak the Holy Ghost fell on them read the rest of it as on us at the beginning please don't let anyone tell you that the day of Pentecost was a one-time thing and it doesn't happen anymore Peter said when they got the Holy Ghost just like we did at the beginning then remembered I the word of the Lord how that he said John indeed baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost now follow this now listen to Peter for as much then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ what was I that I could withstand God he said when I saw that they believed the death burial and resurrection and the Holy Ghost fell on them who is I to tell God you can't feel them when they heard these things they held their peace and glorified God saying then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance of life now I want to segue for the last five or seven minutes of my sermon I want to segue into this there is another teaching that is not biblical and that is when you believe Upon Jesus Christ as your savior you believe upon him and you accept accept him I think that's kind of the language and I I kind of don't understand the lingo it's not him it's not us accepting him as much as I'm thinking him accepting us but they say is when you believe Upon Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and you accept him as the Forgiveness of your sins that you have automatically automatically upon believing that believing and receiving the Holy Ghost are instantaneous they're one they are one and the same in have you believe you're filled with the Holy Ghost now let's see if scripture holds this true Acts chapter 19 and verse number 17 as a matter of fact Let me let me go back just for a minute look at verse Acts 11:1 17 when Peter is talking to the counsel he says in verse 17 for as much then as God gave them the like Precious or God gave them the like gift as he did unto us are you following me as he did unto us who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ what was I that I could understand God now did Cornelius believe what Peter was preaching absolutely did Cornelius believe the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ absolutely well then why did the Holy Ghost have to follow on them as he did on them at the beginning just let them go their way because good saints of God hear me today and anybody else listening today please don't believe that once you believe upon him which is the start it is the start no man can come unto him except he be drawn and you you've got to First believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him but please don't take your mental Ascent of believing in a historical fact that Jesus died was buried and rose again don't take that and say well I've got the Holy Ghost that's your foundation to receive the Holy Ghost Acts Chapter 19 Verse number one and I would call our musicians at this time and our singers to please come Acts chapter 19 and verse number one and it came to pass that while apollis that's a preacher was at Corin the city Paul having passed through the upper Coast came to Ephesus and he find finding certain disciples these are disciples he said unto them have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed have you received the Holy Ghost since you believe now now brothers and sisters today please hear me if believing meant you're instantly filled with the Holy Ghost and the one and the same Paul is asking a rather strange question here would you not say if when they believed they received why did Paul say this he said unto them have you received the Holy Ghost since you believe and they said unto him we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost now I want you I want you I want you to give me your open mind for a moment the Holy Ghost makes the difference what's different about your life the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost makes the difference what'll cause you to love your enemies oh you're such a good woman oh you're such a good person what causes you love your enemies not not your goodness the Holy Ghost what causes you to forget harm hurt that's been put upon your life oh you're a spiritual person oh no no no no no no no no I'm G to tell you what it does the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost oh praise God the Holy Ghost the Bible said Paul came down and finding certain disciples he said if you all received the Holy Ghost since you believed I personally believe there was something about the way they acted matter of fact there's times I'd like to ask some of you have you ever seen receive the Holy Ghost I know you got it but has it got you that's two different things say Caron I think he got among them disciples he he he wasn't going around pagans he wasn't going around he wasn't going around pagan people I believe he got among them disciples and they were maybe talking in such a way and acting in such a way and he said have y'all received the Holy Ghost since you believed and they said well holy ghost well we've not even heard whether there be any Holy Ghost listen to verse three and Paul said unto them unto what then were you baptized or for what purpose were you baptized if you don't have the Holy Ghost tell me how you were baptized and they said under John's baptism what a lot of people got to understand John was under the law John was not under grace Pentecost brings Grace that's the dividing of the law and the Fulfillment of the law and Grace We're baptized under John I feel God right now I really feel his presence in my mind I can hear somebody right now in my mind I can hear you saying I can hear somebody saying do you think I really need to be re-baptized re-baptized well let me ask you this Jesus said there was not a greater Prophet than John the Baptist he said there's never been a greater than John but Watch What Happens how are you baptized under John's baptism then said Paul PA John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance saying unto the people that they should believe on him which should come after him that is on Christ Jesus when they heard this they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus now here's the difference here's the difference now John said your baptism is a sign that you have repented that's what your baptism is a sign of but in the New Testament in the grace dispensation baptism is not a sign it's not a sign I I I've heard it said many times uh Jesus is baptized we ought to be baptized that baptism is an outward sign of an inward Faith you have in God but the Bible says that we are immersed in water in the name of the one who died for us hey let's go back to Creation for a moment when he started on when he started on creation the Bible says there was water there and so he
