Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Three readings to open

  • His Father's Day message opens with three readings: Noah, warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear and prepared an ark; by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, not of works; and every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights.

Scriptures: Hebrews 11:7; Ephesians 2:8-9; James 1:17-18

Noah found grace

  • At his birth Lamech names him Noah, saying, this same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands — and in his line lay the promise of Genesis 3:15, the seed who would crush the serpent's head.
  • He reads Genesis 6 from the top: the sons of God, the wickedness of man great in the earth, God's grief that he had made man — but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, because Noah kept faith in his God in an ungodly generation.
  • A good father heeds warnings: when God warned Noah it moved him to fear and to work, and he got his whole family into the ark — the eighth person in, after his wife, his sons, and their wives.

Scriptures: Genesis 5:28-29; Genesis 3:15; Genesis 6:1-8

Not friends with the world

  • James gives the clue for keeping faith: friendship of the world is enmity with God — first you befriend the world, then you love it, then you conform to it.
  • John's word matches: love not the world, neither the things that are in the world; the world passeth away and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
  • Paul's word completes the chain: be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind — whatever you love, you begin to look like.

Scriptures: James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17; Romans 12:2

The name of the plan

  • He turns to the ultimate Father and reads Matthew 28: all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth; go ye therefore and baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost — and he reads it as the name of the plan: the Father created us, the Son redeemed us, the Holy Ghost regenerates us.
  • Isaiah 46 says the plan came first: God declares the end from the beginning, saying, my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure — the plan predates the creation itself.

Scriptures: Matthew 28:18-19; Isaiah 46:9-10

The mystery kept secret

  • Paul's chain of the mystery runs through five readings: kept secret since the world began; the hidden wisdom God ordained before the world; the fellowship of the mystery hid in God from the beginning of the world; hid from ages and generations, now manifest to his saints.
  • The mystery itself is read last: without controversy great is the mystery of godliness — God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
  • He opens the altar on it: anyone never baptized in Jesus' name, or never filled with the Holy Ghost, can be baptized and filled this morning — he is a good Father, and like the father in the prodigal story he is watching down the road.

Scriptures: Romans 16:25; 1 Corinthians 2:7; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:26; 1 Timothy 3:16

and verse number seven i'm actually going to read from three places in in the word and so just follow me by faith noah being warned of god of things not seen as yet moved with fear prepared an ark to the saving of his house by the which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith ephesians chapter 2 ephesians chapter 2 verse number 8 and 9. for by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of god not of works lest any man should boast james chapter 1 verse number 17. you know johnny james said this years ago he said if you'll read a lot of scripture before you preach even if your sermon flops at least the people got the word that morning well i hope my sermon doesn't flop today but if it does at least you can't go home and say it didn't get the word james 1 17 every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the father from the father of lights with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning of his own will of his own will beget he us with the word of truth that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures just for a few moments today in honoring our fathers i want to minister a job description of a good father a job description of a good father father i love you today jesus i thank you that you're the everlasting father i thank you today that you only give good gifts and lord there is no shadow of turning as if you have changed your mind or diminishing in your power and in your love lord for the next few moments touch your servant god help me to feed your sheep today of which you shed your blood for god help me today and i'll be ever so mindful to bow my knee before i leave and give you praise honor and glory in jesus wonderful name i do pray in jesus name amen and amen you may be seated if you would give me the picture of the young sailor man on the screen that i sent in and i would like to start off with the a young sailor who fought during world war ii signalman third class elgin staples is his name he thought he fought in world war ii in the navy about two o'clock in the morning on august 8th his boat was hit and with a torpedo and it hit his boat with such force that staples was literally blown overboard and into the sea the only thing that was saving him was a small rubber life belt is what they called it at the time he was wounded in both legs scrapping in both legs and even suffered semi-shock he floated for some time until another boat came by and rescued him and took him back to the boat that he had been blown off of it took him back to that boat only to discover that the captain of that boat was in the process of running it aground to let it sink he once again finds himself floating he along with 500 other survivors floating in the sea to be rescued and to be taken to a hospital and shortly thereafter he would be discharged to go home home was akron ohio he um he remembers as they kept trying to get his rubber life belt is what they called and if you could give me the picture of that the rubber life belt he remembers they kept trying to take it but you know after all if you've been blown off one ship put back on that ship and it sinks i guarantee he probably held on real dear he said he wouldn't let it go he he kept it and for whatever reason he became fascinated with it and he just remembered several several details about this boat about this life belt as they called it one of the things that caught his attention was the manufacturer was firestone and the reason that firestone caught his attention because he's from akron ohio and at that time and it still may be today but at that time firestone's headquarters was in akron ohio and it had three digits beside it he finds his way he finds his way back home and has a grand reunion i guess we can all understand sister artwood has a this sailor boy has a grand reunion with his mother and while they are sitting around the table talking he begins to tell his mother about this life belt and of which the mother says to him well son you know during the war for help i was employed by firestone i was employed and we also were asked to give volunteer hours to build to make sew together these life belts and the young man said mother not only beside the life belt was the name but there was a number six three six of which at that time the mother places both hands over her face and begins to sob uncontrollably what's wrong mother what's wrong she said elgin she said my number said the supervisor had to come through and inspect all the light belts and said my number that i would stamp on these life belts was six three six it says my mother was not one to show emotions about that give me the next picture my mother was not one to really show emotions but said my mother and i shared a lot of emotions that night now can you imagine how that mother must have felt can you imagine there in that hot sweaty firestone factory as she was sewing together and making sure that the the threads were tight and tight and making sure everything was put together just right and she had to put her number on that little did she know that that life belt would make its way to her only son and had it not been for that life belt that young man would have perished in the ocean that night well you know today that i haven't come to talk about history but i do believe there's a lot of similarities in that mother making a life jacket or a life belt that saved someone and that is the love that our god had and has for us before the foundation of the world if i could convince us all today and even myself of just how much god loves us and how much that god has planned for us to make heaven our home i believe that the devil will lose every battle that he rages against the child of god can we stop before i go on in my message and just praise god today on this father's day for our heavenly father right now go ahead just praise him lift your voice up and just thank him this morning magnify his name glorify his name oh yes what a wonderful father noah was a good father noah was a good father one of the things about noah being a good father is that it was said of him at his birth when he was born in genesis 5 and 28 his father genesis 5 28 and lamech lived 180 in two years and begat a son and he called his name noah now this baby's just been born and they called his name noah saying now this is the time of his birth i want to keep on reiterating he's just been born and they called his name noah saying this same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands because the ground which the lord hath cursed in other words this noah now again we're talking about an infant we're talking about he's just been born and they they take him in their arms and they say this is noah he's going to comfort us the ground is cursed but this noah is going to bring us comfort how would you like to grow up and when people looked at you they said one day he's going to comfort us one day he's going to comfort and just excuse me but i reckon he did comfort because you do know that the promise of the messiah laid within his loins and there's no greater there's no greater had god had god had god destroyed all humanity then god would have had to start over again genesis 3 15 the promise of one crushing the head of the serpent would be off the table but in one man lay the seed of the greatest comforter that we've ever had how many is glad for the comforter i mean he's glad for the comforter the comforter the company how'd you like to grow up how'd you like to grow up and people just kind of whispered just kind of look at you when you go down the road and they say he's he's going to bring us comfort one day ah that boy right there is going to bring i just would imagine noah probably lived up to what people said about him you know i'd like to always name my children and our youth group brother hammond i'd always like to name the church something we can live up to not something he lived down to i uh i read a little story i hope you find this humorous i hope there's no one gets offended at this but there's a little custom that a group of people have in another country and when a child is born and can begin to walk that they will take three items it's a ceremony it's a ceremony they do a little child can walk and talk and they will take him in a room and on a table they will put a bottle of wine a pile of money and a bible and whichever the young man young boy a young girl goes to get they believe that that's the destiny for their life they'll be on the watch for example should the young lady should the little baby girl waddle over and reach and get the bottle of wine they say we better be careful he or she's going to be sensuous going to be given to the flesh we better watch with a guard she's grabbed he's grabbed a bottle of wine but should the little boy or girl waddle over and get the handful of money they will say oh he's going to be industrious he's he's going to be an entrepreneur he he's going to be the type that makes money or should the little boy or girl waddle over and get the bible they will say his journey will be spiritual he will be a spiritual young person well they had that and one day something unusual happened the little boy went and got the bottle of wine and the pile of money and put a bible under his arm of which the grandfather said there goes a politician i almost got a clap it started it just didn't noah you're a good father you're a good father noah do you know how i know that noah is a good father how he lived in the condition that the world was in you know how we could know he was a good father turn with me to genesis chapter six let's just look at a few verses and i hope my little joke didn't offend any politicians in the house god knows that i hear way more preacher jokes i've heard more fried chicken jokes than you can imagine all right genesis chapter six verse number one it came to pass when men begin to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born unto them that the sons of god and saw that the daughters of men that they were fair they took them wives of all which they chose let me just clarify a little something here the sons of god here are not angels um the sons of god are the lineage of abel and seth because they called out on the name of the lord and you'll read i believe it's at the end of chapter four of genesis where that it is seth it is it is able and of course cain who hated worship slew abel god gave another seth and then the bible said men begin to call upon the name of the lord now there's two ways you can look at this and both could be accurate they begin to call out on the lord for help or they begin to be called by the name of the lord or sons of god now it says here that the sons of god saw the daughters of men who are the daughters of men that's the descendants of cain that hated worship they they had no godliness about them they were sensual uh they were they were living to the flesh and what happened when the sons of god a godly seed begin to interact with an ungodly seed watch what happens that the sons of god saw the daughters of men that they were fair and they took them wives of all which they chose and the lord said my spirit shall not always strive with man i'm not always going to fight with you for that he also is flesh yet his day shall be a hundred and twenty years god set a timetable he said i'm tired of fighting with humanity you better hope that god never gets tired of fighting you better give up he says i'm tired of fighting with them i set the clock i give them 120 years there were giants in the earth in those days and also after that when the sons of god came in unto the daughters of men and they bear them children to them the same became mighty men which were of old men of renown god saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of thoughts of his heart were only evil continually it repented the lord that he had made man on the earth and it grieved him at his heart and the lord said i will destroy man whom i have created from the face of the earth both man and beast and creeping thing and the thousand of the air for it repenteth me that i have made them but noah found grace in the eyes of the lord now you know what that tells me in verse 8 noah was having nothing to do with the first seven verses i read noah found grace in the eyes of the lord strength in the eyes of the lord but did i not read a passage in my opening from ephesians two and eight that says for by grace four by grace are you saved ephesians two and eight for by grace are you saved through faith for by grace are you saved through faith but noah found grace in the eyes of the lord you know why noah found grace in the eyes of the lord because noah had faith in god you don't get grace first and faith second everything we get from god comes through the avenue of faith that's why it says we're saved by grace we're by grace through faith you can't get grace without faith so what noah has in this ungodly generation noah has faith in his god he maintains faith in his god now i really want to drive that point home noah maintains regardless of how ungodly the culture gets noah doesn't change his standard noah doesn't decide to live a different way it doesn't matter how god ungodly people are getting doesn't matter how many people are are being ungodly noah maintained his faith in his god and because he maintained his faith in god noah found grace with god now here's an interesting thing look with me in james chapter four verse number four how many want to keep your faith in god how many believes our world is becoming more and more and more ungodly i was about to say as the day goes by but a day doesn't even have to go by the the hideous things that we hear spoken and talked about and done church how weak and vile and corrupt the world is getting but we can't let it affect the church you see the church is like a ship in the sea the ship belongs in the sea the church belongs in the world we're a city on a hill we're peculiar people the ship belongs in the sea but if you get the sea in the ship you're going to sink so i want to find grace because jesus will return again the earth will be destroyed again by fire this time jesus will rapture the church just as sure as the flood happened he's going to rapture the church and i personally with my family in this church family and anyone else i can get to listen to me i want us to make it in the rapture i want to be ready i want to be ready when he comes now how can i keep my faith in god james 4 and 4 gives us a little clue james 4 and 4 ye adulterers and adulteresses now here james is not addressing physical adultery as in the commandment shalt not commit adultery james is addressing spiritual adultery spiritual adultery now what spiritual adultery is the word adult means to mix and delude all right it's it's a um it's i guess i got some stories on my mind today it's a adultery is is to mix and dilute to mix to lessen the power adultery uh that's why we'll often say we'll say i am preaching the unadulterated word of god a little boy came home from sunday school on the way home uh his his mom said johnny what did you what'd you learn in sunday school today he said i learned about mature trees mature trees what do you mean yeah grown-up trees mama well what do you mean grown-up treats she said the teacher taught us on adult tree adult all right you're being merciful to me today aren't you y'all got a little y'all got a little machine back there you turned laughter up through the speakers i i know i know the adulterers and adulteresses know you not that the what friendship of the world is enmity with god whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is an enemy of god you want to keep your faith in god don't become a friend of the world don't laugh at their entertainment don't crave their entertainment don't be able to quote more songs in the secular realm than you can maybe not quote any of them and not know about a blessed song that lifts up the lord know all the stats of the nfl but don't know where the beatitudes are at know all the things of this world know what's shaking in the stock market but you don't know which way the wind or the spirit's blowing don't become a friend of the world their jokes are not funny their entertainment's not funny what they what they crave after is not what we crave after so one way to keep your faith in your god if you're interested in keeping your faith in your god don't allow the world to be your friend don't have anything in common with the world because just as sure as you make friends with the world this is why we teach our young people oh mama he's just my friend that boy is just my friend oh mama that girl's just my friend you got to be careful about your friends because you have a way of falling in love with your friends what you can just go have a few minutes visit with and then walk away if you keep making a friend with the world it's not long and i bring you to the next passage of scripture first john now not the gospel of john but first john chapter 2 verse number 15 and 17 15-17 listen to john write love not the world that's right you'll never love a world that you weren't you were not first to friend with james said don't have friendship with the world john says don't love the world love not the world neither the things that are in the world if any man love the world the love of the father is not in him you cannot serve god in the world at the same time you cannot be in love with god and in love with this world at the same time one is going to take precedence one is going to rule you're either going to love god with all your heart soul mind and spirit or you're going to love the world but i'm convinced today that i'm looking at a group of people we want to love god today the choir wanted to love god today musicians want to love god today love not the world need the things that are in the world if any man love the world the love of the father is not in him for all that is in the world the lust of the flesh the lust of the eyes the pride of life is not of the father but of the world and the world passes away and the lust thereof but he that doeth the will of god abideth forever can i tell you let your flesh have its way and if god gives you longevity of years let your flesh have its way and if you live to be 70 80 or 90 you will live years of regret because you will regret allowing your flesh to reach for that which was so empty but if you live because the world passeth away but if you live according to the will of god and god gives you longevity can i tell you whatever nursing home you're at whatever retirement place you're at you can lift your hands and say i have absolutely no regrets at all because i'm just in a transition period of going where a city where the lamb is the light and i'm going to a place where they'll never grow old love not the world well you love the world because you became friends with the world and then the next verse i'd like to tie into this is romans chapter 12 verse number two romans 12 verse number two and be not conformed to this world but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of god look at this again with me please you're first a friend of the world your first a friend of the world and the next thing you know you love the world oh i'm never gonna do this i'm never gonna dress like this i'm never gonna act like this i'm never going to do this but you you became friends with it and then you started loving it and it's not long you started conforming to it that true whatever you love you will begin to conform to its image that's right whatever you love you'll start looking like it whatever you love for example if you love sports over god i think you can i think you can love god most of all and i think you can like sports but if you start loving sports and things of that nature you'll start looking like them you'll start look whatever it is whatever it is just start looking let me give you a little thing i thought of and this so happened today when i was coming in uh i i ran in her sister malone was coming in and i i stopped her for a moment and i said it's odd i said in my notes today i think i'm going to mention you and brother malone you know several years ago those of you who don't know him you know they adopted arie when arie was just a little bitty girl they they adopted her and um uh she became the love of their life and and uh arie loves her parents you know something very interesting arie looks like her mother or adopted you know she's adopted there's no dna there's nothing there's nothing there they adopted harry but she looks like thank the lord her mother is todd in here yeah okay yeah and she looks like her dad two legs and two arms i you know but she does she looks like her mother and father and it's incredible the similarities and although there's no dna there i submit to you that because there's a love between parents and a daughter and a daughter and parents that whatever you love you begin to conform into its image that's why that's why paul said and be not conformed to this world but don't get to that third step get on the first step don't be a friend of the world don't be don't fall in love with the world don't love other places here in this town more than you love the things of god our bible our church time the people of god there's nothing like fall in love with the things of god and if you will it won't be long you you'll start conforming noah's a good father because noah never conformed noah never conformed to the world noah found grace and i'm going to tell you noah had a great great grandfather noah had a great great grandfather and i might have left one great out but he had a great great grandfather whose name was enoch and when you ask who's the oldest man to ever live tell him you don't know yet because he's still living because the bible says about noah's great great grandfather that enoch walked with god and he was not for god took him i mean all of a sudden god looked down on enoch one day and he knows just he just doing what a godly man does and god just simply says i'm going to take you to heaven with me and he he took he was not for god for god took him enoch enoch becomes an old testament type and shadow of the rapture because a few generations later the tribulation of the flood came in and so enoch becomes a old testament typology of the rapture of the church i want to go on the rapture of the church i want to walk with god this is an ungodly culture that we're living in i don't want to be friends with the world i don't want to love the world and i sure don't want to start conforming to the world david said it like this david said it like this he said if if i do not hold jerusalem the house of worship as my chief joy everybody say chief joy chief joy now i was teasing with brother goodman a little bit today about his boat and he's telling me how he's getting that boat to do 70 mile an hour and all that well let me tell you something that's brother goodman's joy but i don't believe it's his cheap joy see we can have habits we can have fishing habits hunting habits whatever that can be a joy it's a joy to get in that tree stand i don't understand it but it's a joy to do this and it it's a it's a joy to go to a room and still i i that either i it's it's a joy it's a joy to do all this i got i got one daughter i'm gonna tell you you could take lauren and you could take her down to the smallest town and put her in a thrift store and come back two days later and she'd say could you give me a few more minutes that's her joy but that's not her chief joy it's all right to have some joys in life but david said if i forget jerusalem if i forget if i forget jerusalem and worship and tambourines and harps if i forget the ark of the if i forget jerusalem let my let my right hand not know how to hold the sword let me forget how to write let me forget and then he said if i don't hold it as my cheap joy said let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth i don't have anything to talk about other than my chief joy hey did you know we baptized somebody hey did you know somebody got the holy ghost hey did you know a prodigal came home that last week hey did you know god did this to this hey did you see a brand new family hey did you know that oh brother brother sister mcbroom help me okay uh help me with the name uh uh we your your daughter that came and testified this will help me [name redacted] i guess she's in sunday school right now but she suffered so much from seizures and and she was going to the doctor and going to the doctor and going to the doctor but a few weeks ago they began to to realize that she wasn't having any more seizures and and they took her back for all the scans and she come up this morning i was talking to some brothers she brothers and she said i know my daddy told you but i want to stand here little girl i want to stand here and tell you that jesus healed me of my seizures brother carpenter pastor he healed me and i said can i tell you if i forget that i don't have nothing to talk about i i don't have any i don't have anything to talk about today if it's not about my god i don't have anything can i tell you what a good father is a good father can have a bass boat a good father can have a side beside a good father can be a dear hunter but the chief joy of a good father is hey let's go to church it's time to magnify the lord it's time to worship his name it's time to clap our ass that's the description come on let's praise him fathers that's the definition of a good father to the pastors that i'm privileged to lead in the assemblies of the lord jesus christ a pastor fleury from michigan and a pastor jud sears from indiana both of them diagnosed brain tumors and had brain surgery both of them were given a very small chance of survival but this week at general ministry conference both of them came to me and told me of doctors reports that they're saying no more cancer no more tumors come on that's what we ought to talk about i promise you that's what i'm talking about right now is better than fox news it's better than the newspapers it's better than the junk that's going on come on the world's messed up but we're in our chief joy we're in the art we're building the ark knowing his sons we're building the ark this is going to take us out of here somebody keep the church open at 10 o'clock on sunday morning somebody come back for prayer meeting at 5 30. somebody come back for wednesday night we're keeping the old ship of zion you may be seated brother flurry come to me now when they had to remove the tumors from the flurry's mind from his brain he had to go in the doctor just every so many weeks and i believe it was last week the week before conference brother flurry said i i had to go to the doctor and the doctor said reverend uh flurry he said any time that we remove tumors from a brain we take tissue with us and said you are going to suffer from several side effects said the first thing said reverend flurry your eye vision uh have you begun to notice that you're losing sight he said brother carpenter it couldn't be timed any better said on the doctor's wall was an eye chart he said i covered one eye and stood back as far as i could and said i read that whole chart off and said the doctor said interesting and then he said well sometimes we remove tissue you will suffer fatigue he said fatigue he said hey how you been doing ribbon flurry how am i been doing it he said i feel grace how are you feeling he said i feel great and he said he said i don't know why he said i just stood up and he said i started doing this industry i just feel great i just feel great that's so great doctor said interesting he said matter of fact i felt so good he said last sunday i went to church and i preached sunday morning and he said doctor when i preach i get off i run down i run around and i wave my hands the doctor said interesting he said i felt so good i went back sunday night and i preached again doctor said that's interesting and then the doctor said well we've got to schedule you for another brain surgery you have something on the back of your brain that resembles a tumor and we're going to schedule you for another brain surgery that brain surgery was scheduled for a tuesday but late monday evening the flurry residents got a phone from the doctor's office got a phone call and the doctor said upon further examination we have determined that that is no tumor at all and that by every appearance all the tumors are gone from your brain and there's no growth of any new tumors that are coming on your brain folks if we want to talk sister oz let's talk about that i i'm going to tell you something we talk about the world sister truly we talk about the world all we want to but i've come this morning to talk about the goodness of god because i believe a good father come on with you worshiping with me just for a moment come on worship with me just for a moment worship with me just for a moment come on oh thank you lord thank you lord thank you lord a good father a good father you may be seated a good father a good father it was god that gave noah the plans for the ark a good father a good father in the book of peter noah is called the eighth person you have read that in the book of peter where peter calls noah the eighth the eighth person and i've often wondered why did god a lot to him the number eight you know why i believe that with all my heart nope i've not heard anybody refute it i believe he was the eighth one to get on the ark i believe that mother tharpey stood there when the rains began to come and god god got the animals in and i believe he looked at mrs noah and said come on mama get in the ark come on mama get in the ark ham sham jpep come on sons get get a hold of your wives get ahold of your wives mamas went in that's one ham and his wife's went in that's three she him and his wife's went in that's five j that and his wives went in that's seven and when he got his whole family in the ark he stepped through the door and god said that's the eighth person can i tell you a good father will always make sure that his family's in the ark fathers today know the spiritual condition of your house i don't know brother erickson don't know brother hammond don't know brother nolan doesn't know we don't know the spiritual condition of your house that's left up to you father know where your wife is at spiritually father know where your children are at spiritually be the eighth person be a good father be a good father he let all of his children his wife get in the ark let me show you just a few things before we call our musicians do you recall with me in hebrews chapter 11 go back with me hebrews chapter 11 verse number 7 by faith noah would you just say that with me by faith noah of course we know how he found grace right he found grace because he had faith watch the steps by faith noah being warned of things not seen as yet you know have you ever known anyone that's not heeded a warning you see for a warning to be effective you've got to heed the warning so good father heeds warnings let's don't wait till we're dangling off the side of the mountain to heed the warning god gave noah a warning god gave noah a warning i'm going to destroy the earth by faith being warned of god of things not seen as yet how has your warning affected you warning sharp curve ahead and you're staying at 65 miles an hour so when you buckle into the guard rail and flip over the warning was there you just didn't heed the warning another minister and his wife that i'm privileged to leave the walkers left chattanooga early on friday morning to go back they passed her outside of st louis road construction brother hyde could tell us plenty about that road construction in nashville is horrendous there were warning signs for miles merging lane one lane flashing lights with lower speed limits brother and sister walker obeyed slowed down but witnesses say that a tractor-trailer never slowed down witnesses say that on that one way road that one lane road some say the truck was doing some 70 mile an hour in a 35 mile an hour zone he had the warnings he had the warnings but this sunday morning sister walker is in vanderbilt hospital with broken bones brother walker has been released but he has broken bones you know that never should have happened right because someone did not heed the warning noah was warned that god was going to destroy the earth he was warned that it was going to happen but a warning is no good unless it moves you you see the warning is here that's where you get the warning that's where your brain says that's a warning but the move by fear comes here he believed the warning and then he got the fear here but it doesn't stop there he was moved with fear and then he began to prepare go get wood let's labor let's work for 120 years building a floating vessel where did it all come from he heeded a warning i'm talking about what good fathers look like good fathers heed warnings good fathers get moved with godly fear but good fathers also go to work with their hands to work not just a job but the bible says work out your own salvation that doesn't mean i get to choose which way i come to god that just simply says work out your salvation really what the terminology that scripture is when paul said work out your salvation he is saying bring your salvation to the surface so that all can hear and all can see you come the musicians would come right now a good father noah you're a good father you're a good father noah because you would live for god in a godless culture noah you're a good father because when god warned you it moved you to fear and it moved you to go to work with your hands and build a church build a place where your family could be saved but now i want to move to the ultimate father today i want to move to the ultimate father and that's god our father that's god our father i want to read a very familiar passage of scripture matthew 28 18 and jesus came and spake unto them saying all power is given unto me in heaven and earth go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost i'll leave that on the screen for me but church you know as well as i do that about any time we read that verse what do we feel compelled to do talk about the name of jesus talk about the name of jesus and rightfully so but the other day when i was praying and i read this scripture i saw it from an angle i've never seen it from before that what i believe that jesus was actually saying i want you to go and i want you to baptize them in the name of the plan the plan that i had i want you to baptize them in the name of the plan i had a plan i had a plan and the plan involved a father and the plan involved a son and the plan involved the holy ghost what are you talking about isaiah 46 and 9 and please if you could just give me your razor point focus right now because i really want this to click isaiah 46 and 9 god says remember the former things of old for i am god and there is none else i am god and there is none like me declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done saying my counsel shall stand and i will do all my pleasure now wait a minute god had a plan we know that father refers to god being the creator thus god becomes the father of creation nowhere in your bible is he ever called an eternal father nowhere nowhere in your bible is he ever called the eternal son nowhere the only place that eternal is ever attached to is the spirit holy ghost because there was a time when god there was no creation this creation this earth we live on is not eternal it was created it was a time when god was not a father it was a time when god was not flesh a son but there has never been a time when god was not of his essence nature a spirit so when he is telling the disciples go baptize them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost he's saying get a hold of the plan i had a plan before the world was look at how good god is we're not an accident god didn't have a perfect adam and eve and an and an accident happened and god scratched his head and said what i'll do next god knew before he ever caused one star to shine one flower to blossom one bird to sing or one man to talk god already had a plan of redemption for that man the plan predates the father oh you understand where i'm coming from today no wonder the bible says it this i'm going to read very quickly to those of you that have my scripture romans 6 25 excuse me romans 16 25 romans 16 25 now to him that is a power to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of jesus christ according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began what was the mystery what was the mystery let's read on first corinthians two and seven but we speak the wisdom of god in a w in a mystery even the hidden wisdom which god ordained before the world unto our glory ephesians 3 and 9 listen to paul new testament and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning of the world had been hid in god who created all things by jesus christ colossians 1 26 even the mystery which have been hid from ages and from generations is now manifest to his saints watch this church watch this this is so beautiful it's revelation watch this before one tree blossomed before one star would begin to shine before there was any earth without form without void god had a master plan and the master plan is in first timothy chapter 3 verse 16 and without controversy great is the mystery of godliness god was manifest in the flesh justified in the spirit seen of angels preached unto the gentiles believed only in the world and received up into glory what was the mystery before a star shine what was the mystery before a bird sang what was the mystery before the earth was god was going to become a man and god he saw he saw the end from the beginning you can't have a man without creation and you can't have a man accepted be created and so god becomes the father of all creation he creates a man you can't have a fallen man until you have a creative man but when god created man and everything we see he becomes the father of creation but a few thousand years later man has fallen and man must have a redeemer thus god becomes a man god becomes flesh and god buys him back out of sins penalty on the on the cross he bore my sin on the cross he took my shame what can wash away my sins nothing but the blood of jesus there's power in the cross there's power in the blood there's power in him why are you staying with me right now wait a minute now you can't have a man until you got creation and when the man fails you've got to have a son of redemption but the cross alone only settles the score and paves the road that's why i said the name of the father he created us and of the son he redeemed us and of the holy ghost he regen regenerated us he changed us he causes us to take on his image for this same spirit dwell in you that dwelt in christ jesus he changed you know what causes us to act more like jesus the holy ghost so when he said oh lord have mercy i i just get so thankful for this glorious truth when he said apostles get on down the road and baptized them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost i believe they knew i believe they knew the name but also believed they knew the plan the plan of god creation redemption regeneration what a plan that god has had if there's any of you sitting standing with me today and you're not ready you've never been water baptized in jesus mighty name you've never been filled with the holy ghost today is your day you can be baptized this morning you can receive the holy ghost this morning if you're here today he's a good father well i've walked away from him brother carpenter he's the father in the fa and the prodigal son story that's looking down the aisle for you to come this morning he's a wonderful god let's just pray right now father as we bow our heads and close our eyes and open this altar up right now god woo somebody out of their pew today god you know that man that woman that's standing here today and they have not yet committed their life to you lord they have not yet lord they've been warned but god they've not been moved god they've been warned lord they've been reading their bible and they they see where they need to be baptized in jesus name but they've not been moved god move on them today lord move on them today god this altar is open right now for anyone wants to come and pray oh lord touch god's souls this morning lord touch fathers this morning god i want to be a better father oh god i want to be a better father today lord lord i may have salvation but i want to be a better father today does anybody like to join me any fathers like to join me in the altar today just pray a prayer god help me to be a better father lord help me to be a better husband help me to be a lord help me to be a better brother here in the church god help me right now god help me right now god help me right now lord the name of the lord jesus christ the name of the lord jesus christ let's all gather in around the altar brother erickson is going to sing a song that's going to seal this service today speaks about the great plan of god just prayed his from his glory and jesus was his name boring to his own just a stranger a man me is my god what that not one faint hope in sight he laid aside his my soul is is foreign oh my is us oh let's give him praise right now men fathers let's give him praise young men oh thank god thank god well i really bragged on the choir this morning and rightfully so i really bragged on the music department and and right rightfully so but i tell you something else i said you don't know what you have i want to turn the mirror back on me today you know i preach a few places other than here i call for men to come up around the altar other than just here it would amaze you the lack of cooperation of men they send her wife up the aisle send their kids up the aisle but they've always got a reason i i i i i just i want to turn it back on me today god may i always know how to appreciate men feel an altar like little troy like this right here this is this is not something you see just anywhere you go men men i appreciate you i really do come on have a wife every woman in the house hold up this church is made up of strong masculinity now sister carpenter is going to come and we want our fathers to be loved today so we always buy you a gift to give your family more of you to love on and that's donuts all right but before she comes and directs us i want to give you this last note because i it'll just bug me if i don't it's part of my sermon a good father was noah noah the bible said let the dove go out of the ark he took a dove and he let the dove go out and the dove came no more the dove came no more but i'd like to say that noah released the dove but we do find that dove if you give me a little lead way here we do find that dove again because there was a godly man by the name of zechariah was married to a godly woman by the name of elizabeth and they produced a godly son by the name of john and the lord spoke to john and said you're going to baptize a person and when you baptize you're going back you baptize multitudes but you're going to baptize one man and said when you baptize him you're going to see the spirit descend like a dove and said he's going to baptize you with the holy ghost noah thank you for letting the dove go jesus thank you you said it's expedient for me that i go away for if i go not away the comforter will not come noah thank you for building the ark we're all indebted to him no none of us will be here today if it wasn't for noah but none of us would really be here today if it wasn't for jesus christ before sister carpenter comes it's one last time give him praise honor glory meet me in the prayer room tonight at 5 30. come on praise honor and glory to jesus christ right now
