oh thank the Lord thank the Lord thank the Lord thank the Lord uh if you have your Bibles why don't you stand with me right now we're going to go into the word of the Lord this morning and I believe every bit of that song today that if he told the son sun to shine and it did God's word is so powerful let's go back to the beginning today let's go back to the beginning the beginning of the church 2,000 years ago Finds Its birthplace its birthplace in the second chapter of the book of Acts Acts chapter 2 and verse number 37 of course leading up to this Peter preached the only gospel that will save you he preached the death burial somebody say the next word and resurrection of our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ he informed them that they had crucified him whom God had raised up and then in Acts 2 and 37 this happened now when they heard this they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest rest of the Apostles men and Brethren what shall we do then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for the promis is unto you and to your children and to all that are far off even as many as the Lord Our God shall call and with many other words did he testify and exhort saying save yourselves from this unored generation I'm going to I'm going to take my text today and my thought from those few words save yourself save yourself from this UNT generation then they that gladly receive received his word were baptized and the same day they were added unto them about 3,000 souls and they continued steadfastly in the apostles Doctrine in fellowship and in Breaking of bread and in prayers I want to teach this morning and preach on this simple subject a response is required a response is required father we love you this morning thank you Lord for giving us your word thank you Lord your word is a light your word is our Compass God your word is that that shows us Lord the people that we are to be Lord we are surrounded and protected by Your Word we are built on the Promises of your word we believe in your soon return because your word declares it we believe God you're the same yesterday today and forever more because that's what your word says Lord move up on us today touch my heart touch our ears that we may receive the word of God today that it would bring about a change in our lives we'll give you the praise and the glory and the honor in Jesus wonderful name we pray amen why don't we give him a hand of Praise before we're seated great is the Lord and greatly to be praised a response a response is required salvation is free salvation was purchased on Calvary salvation is free yet in order to be saved and to grow into the person that God has planned for you now there's where we're going to teach today no one is born perfect I don't care how smart your you think your baby your baby is or was when that child was born there's no baby ever come out of the womb fully developed they don't come out talking they come out crying but they don't come out speaking there is a growth process that happens to that child there's a there's a growth process same way in the kingdom of God when we are born again and enter the kingdom of God none of us are born perfect all of us are born in a process we're born with a process being born again is your birth certificate it is not our graduation certificate as a matter of fact we will be in a process of God working on us until the trumpet sounds and we're changing a moment and the twinkling of an eye we will be in the process of him changing us that's why today salvation is free purchased the calvary yet there is a response that is needed now I understand and I hear the words we're not saved by works and oh how I believe that and I believe that for a number of reasons the number one reason I believe that we're not saved by works is because the Bible says we are not saved by works now that's why I believe that but what Paul is referring to there when he says we're not saved by works he is referring to them trying to take trying to go back under the Old Testament law of sacrifices and all the gifts that they had to bring before God and Paul is saying no you're not saved you're not saved by works but we are saved by a response there has to be a response as a matter of fact after Peter preached and then he began to exhort them with many other words which are not recorded they are not recorded simply says in many other words verse 40 did he testify and exhort saying now listen where he put where he put it at save yourself save yourself in other words he was delivering to them that they were to be personally responsible there there was some personal responsibility that they had to take on when he he said now save yourselves from this untour generation of course the rest of the verses I read says they gladly received his word they they they gladly received that word well well who wouldn't want to gladly once you understand who you are and your destination who wouldn't want to gladly have an opportunity to to be turned around in your life they gladly received the word and that day they were added to them about 3,000 Souls that's a great that's a great harvest about 3,000 souls and then after that they continued they continued verse 42 they continued and they they didn't just continue they continue steadfastly in other words they stayed focused upon the apostles Doctrine and fellowship so today I want to I want to minister for a little bit on a response a response is needed as a matter of fact we find this all through our Bible and I'll go I'll vote go very quickly but we find in James 4 and7 listen to what James says to you the church and to myself submit yourselves therefore to God resist the devil and he will flee from you sounds like to me that James is telling the church there that you have the responsibility there's a response needed and that is you are to submit yourself to God can I tell you you can either submit on your knees or on your back now I will tell you today God would much rather you submit on your knees but he loves you too much to let you be lost he loves you too much to let you mess your life up you were made with Divine Purpose in your life you were made to be a witness and a light and a voice for him go ahead I hear somebody clapping and I think that's great you were made to be a witness and a light for him James doesn't stop James 4:10 humble yourselves in the sight of God in the sight of the Lord he shall lift you up first John 5 and 21 listen to First John an elderly man probably in his 90s when John wrote this 1 John 5:21 little children keep yourself from Idols sounds like there's some responsibility there he's saying I want you to keep yourselves from Idols Jude wrote he wrote in Jude 1 and 20 but ye beloved building up yourselves on your Most Holy Faith praying in the Holy Ghost here again all these writers all these writers are coming back and they're saying hey there's a response that's seated Jude 1:21 keep yourselves in the love of God looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life do you see the words that we just read submit yourself keep yourself all of these phrases that are over and over again hammering to us you're responsible you've got to give a response you see living for God is Not setting doing nothing until God comes by and picks you up God has given us the ability to make a response and then I this is my last verse for this 2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verse 5 and I want you to look very close at this 2 Corinthians 13 and verse 5 Paul simply says look at could could we all say the first two words together say it could we say it again he said you need to do a self-examination he said said you you you need to examine could we say it one more time you we need to why would I need to examine myself Paul whether you be in the faith prove your own prove your own selves know you not your own selves how that Jesus Christ is in you except he be reprobates look at that that's strong long meat right there he says you need to examine yourselves whether you be in the faith well the only book that can really tell us if we're in the faith is the b e yes that's the book for me right don't don't go to any other book don't don't we we don't need any supplements everything you need matter of fact they say that the word bible is an acronym it stands for best instruction before leaving Earth right so how do I know that I'm in the faith I have to go to the Bible he said whether you be in the faith and prove your own selves in other words put yourself put yourself to the test prove your own self know you not your own selves how that Jesus Christ is in you look at those last few words except ye be reprobates and that's that's a strong word for simply saying you have been rejected it's what what's that's what rep reprobate is it's it's something that should have it's really the word really the word brother Perry comes from uh um a Goldsmith uh as they would purify gold and they would purify gold and silver and material and if they didn't get all of the uh uh the the the dross which is is is ingredients in there that has to be burnt and brought to the surface and removed so that it can be called pure gold but if it if it didn't stand the fire you just couldn't get you couldn't get the waste out of the gold or the silver they would sell it as reprobate silver in other words it had it had been it had been rejected well I stand before you today a man that continually must go through seasons in my life of a fresh start of a fresh start there's nothing wrong with you that you come to times in your life that you stop and you say hey I need an examination hey I I I need I I I I need I need to get all these fingers pointing out this way and I I I need to turn them around you know it's been said if you got one finger pointing out you got four more back at you right sometimes I can look really good in the eyes the church can look really good in the eyes of the world but we were never to judge oursel from an untour generation we were to save ourselves from an untour generation and so there's nothing wrong with you when you come to seasons of your life where you say spiritually I need a fresh start well brother car you don't me I I've been in church 50 years I don't care how long you've been in church I I don't care somebody said one time they said now brother I've been in the way and I thought yeah there's a lot of Truth to that but anyway we won't go there I don't care who we are today 50 years in the church 100 years in the church if you'd be that old but we all will come to times to where we just have to flat out sit down and say hey I need a I need a I need a I need a restart I need a fresh start I need a renewal I I I I I don't I don't want to lose this thing I I need a renewal in my life I need a fresh I need a fresh start we come to these times in our lives we need a fresh start come to these times in our life we need to we need to rebuild we need to reconstruct come times in in a Church's life I I think I think the worst thing that can happen to a church as a whole is it doesn't go through seasons of having a fresh start we call it a Revival and we're just trying to say Church let's go back to what brought us to this point here you see he said prove yourselves to see if you be not reprobate see we need to be so mindful and cautious because this this exam this exam we need to be so mindful and cautious because we can allow what we do in the house of God to deceive us that we are in a relationship with God when we are in a relationship with a Ministry and we're not in a relationship with the Messiah see we our hearts are the Bible says it our hearts are deceitfully wicked and no man can know oh I know myself pretty good no you don't and I don't know myself good it's only when we submit to the spirit of God and we ask the spirit of God to search our hearts and try our ways and see if there be any wicked way found in us he's the one that knows our hearts we don't really know our hearts you see we can be deceived and think we've got a relationship with the Lord because we come to church well we got a relationship with the Lord because I've got a position in the church well you've got pastors got a relationship he's the pastor of the church none of that is a 100% guarantee that you have a relationship with God you can work here in the daycare you can come you can be employed by our school in daycare and get here at 6:30 every morning Monday through Friday and stay to 6:00 and work in the house of God and work among the things of God and still will not have a relationship with God our hearts are deceitful well I sing in the choir well that's good but do you have a relationship with God well I play music here well that's good but do you you have to ask yourself do I have a relationship with God now if let me see how to word this today if the spirit of God cannot stir us to cause us to have a fresh start then the second thing that has stirred a lot of us and notice I put that word us there do you know that failure has caused a lot of us to have a fresh start if I was giving you a list of 10 things that are said after a person fails probably on the top of the list would be I never believed I could do that you know why you never believed you could because you weren't being honest with what was going on right here you see the the action was going on a long time right here before it ever got on the outside and when we don't deal with something inside of our heart we will eventually deal with it outside of oursel but do you know that failure will carpent I'm such a failure I I have felt I have I'm I'm such a failure can I tell you today stop looking at failure as an enemy would you let failure become a teacher could we learn from our mistakes because if we know and you know where I'm going with this statement if we don't learn from our mistakes what are we bound to do repeat them and so we we we have to get to the place to where we're learning from our our mistakes will you say brother Carpenter I keep making this same mistake over and over and over again a little boy told his dad he said Daddy I keep falling out of bed at night and the dad said your son my my son the problem is you're going to sleep too close to where you got in bed and if we keep repeating the same act over and over again it's because we're staying too close to the edge now if you have a habit that's ingrained in you you got to bring out the heavy equipment the war that's going on in Russia in ukra Ukraine right now they're they're not over there with Daisy BB guns and pellet guns they're bringing massive weapon Weaponry out and so when we have and I hope you're hearing this today when we have ingrained habits in our lives and we want to be delivered we want to be set free we don't want to go but it's engrain rain and it keeps pulling us this way it's time to break out the heavy equipment maybe it's time that we don't only pray just at church you know I I thank God for the wonderful few hours we spend here in the house of God but I spend the majority of my life outside this place thank God that I'm I'm in the church today and we're rubbing shoulders with people of like Precious Faith but we don't always do that and so I have to bring out some heavy equipment some heavy artillery and and I can break and you can break every habit and you can break any habit and you can have a fresh start and you can have a a a new rebuild in your life if you will just simply say you know what here I am it's on Tuesday and I feel that coming back on I feel that gravitation coming back on wait a minute I'm going to take the flesh back here to the back room and I'm going to begin to pray and I'm going to begin to ask God to give me help God I've got to be delivered I I have got to be delivered I saw the most beautiful post I think it was Friday I saw the most beautiful post a young lady was holding up a sign and it simply said I'm one day sober and the caption read you got to start somewhere instead of instead of talking about about the times that you failed why don't you start holding up a poster I'm 24 hours free I'm I'm one week free from this I I I I I've got the victory over this because there is a response that is needed please don't be deceived please don't be deceived I thank God that I've prayed for you I thank God we have prayer lines I thank God that we have great messages preached that build our faith up and we have hands laid on us and we're anointing with oil and all that's in the Bible and all that's well and good but if you depend upon somebody else's power to deliver you you're going to go right back out there and you're going to repeat it again and again and again a response is needed failure failure has awakened many of us failure has turned a lot of people has turned a lot of people around can I tell you today that there is no greater example in the Bible of failure like King David oh did I also tell you he was a man after God's Own Heart oh oh did I did Al also tell you that that he wrote a lot of Psalms that we we we worship but David had a massive he had a massive failure in his life why don't we take the rest of my Bible study and why don't we chart David's downfall because it's written for our learning the Bible's not written to expose David's sin it's written so we can learn from David's sin and we don't repeat David's sin so let's let's start with this sin here in second Samuel 11 and verse number one 2 Samuel 11 and one here it is and it came to pass after the year was expired at the time when kings go forth to battle that David sent joab and his servants with him and all Israel and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged rabba but David star stried still at Jerusalem 2 Samuel 11 records the ugly failure of David it records his lust it records him calling for baseba another man's wife it records the ugly adultery he had it records it records the deceit the deceit that he tried to cover up his sin it records that he had bash sheba's husband Uriah murdered in battle killed in battle it records that he married basba and was going to live the rest of his life the rest of his life living a liive living a lie but where did it start starts in verse one simply You' picked it out probably already it simply says at the time when kings go forth to battle David sent joab we are individuals today God does not love us as a whole he loves us as individuals and you will never have a renewal and a restart in your life sending somebody else to battle oh Pastor Will you pray for me sure I'm going to pray for you but if you don't pray for yourself it I'm sorry Pastor would you please remember in pray oh we've got I've heard people say this before and and and oh we we we've got a pray and Pastor thank you I I I'm I I I will be transparent with you I'm praying for myself I'm I'm praying for me all right I'm praying because C can I give you a new Flash I'm human I face the same Temptation maybe not the same Temptations but I face the same let me reward that I face the same tempter I face the same tempter so I I appreciate I pray for you we we'll pray for we'll gather up around you and all this church is so good when somebody comes to the altar we all gather up we all pray that's well and good but if that person we're praying for doesn't give the right response to their life they get in a cycle of and then eventually they just quit because man that church scene's not working it's not that the church scene's not working it's that you're not working it because if we give a response 3,000 people are going to come no one else can do your battle no no one else no one else can fight for you there are certain battles that only you can fight you can only fight those battles 1 Timothy 612 look at Paul fight the good fight of Faith lay hold on eternal life second Timothy 4 and7 here is Paul's closing hours of the ministry here's what he says I have fought a good fight I have finished my course I have kept the faith now let me tell you this none of us are really really really who we are right now we are at our very best right now we're at our very best right now we're saying things like thank you and we're saying things like oh let me get that for you we're saying things like you know but you are who you are oh which quiet here today you are who you are when you are all alone when you're all alone in that car and the guy cut you off and your hand gets raised but it ain't the praise the Lord that's as far as I go and words come out of your mouth oh come on now don't you or you are by by yourself and you're in Walmart you're going to get that parking spot but somebody speeds in there right quick remember how you talk to them don't they they tell they tell this as a true story they tell it as a true story an evangelist was late one night getting to church he had pulled out of the hotel and got on a country Street Country Country Road Church was way out in the country and was an older man and an older woman in front of him driving half the speed limit he had about all that he could take he pulled up beside them the Evangelist pulled up beside them rode down his window hey Pops if you're going to pull it over if you're going to go this slow pull it over he sped on to church only to be introduced as the Evangelist in the back door open opened and there come in that older man and the older woman I don't think he was very effective that night but you are who you are and I am who I am when you are all alone David you're all alone somebody else is fighting your battles David you're all by yourself David you're on the rooftop David you know this is the evening hour and you know David that in the evening hour it's a custom it's a tradition it's a standard that men would remain indoors in the evening time because that's when the women would wash and bathe out in their Courtyard so it was accustom that men would stay on the inside of their homes because of of not being tempted to look but David walked upon the rooftop and there he not only saw bash Sheba but he lusted at The Bash Sheba there he not only lusted after bash Sheba but he called for bash Sheba but then if you read the scripture real close he had some he had some bails going off thank god listen to this you need to keep people in your life that can be a voice of Correction to you the the the the the worst thing you need to do is to run with an association that approves everything that you do any decision any music you listen to any entertainment you want to go to they're all justifying and all that you need to have a voice in your life that can say hey David said to a servant he said that woman down there he said go go call that woman to me and this is what the servant servant said is not this the wife of Uriah you know what he was really trying to do to him wake him up come on David this is a man's wife here but he ignored that voice I'm tell you God wants to wake you up but if you continually ignore the voice it's when that scripture is read and that prick in the heart that's the Holy Ghost it's when something is said and it kind of Pricks you a little bit that's the Holy Ghost nonetheless David called for her David lay in the bed of adultery with her that night and send her back home there was no love to that relationship there was no love that relationship it was lust it was all it was David sent her home only in a few days to get word from basba I am with your child I'm carrying your child David immediately immediately instead of repenting he begin to try to cover up he calls her husband to come in from the battle knowing that I'll I'll faint it I'll disguise it like I'm really want to know about the Battle I I'll disguise it like you know hey how's the battle going but really I'm wanting you to go home and be with your wife so that you will think that you're the father of that child can I tell you something people that are living deceived lives are contagious they will get on other people can you imagine if God had not intervened how that Uriah could have lived or David could have lived all of his life knowing that boy's really not mine or that boy is mine that I I've said that the boy is uah's follow me on this now that's that's how he was wanting to live he was wanting after he had Uriah killed he didn't marry basiba because he loved her he's trying to cover up his sin so he marries basiba thinking that you know I'm going to I'm going to be the hero of the day I'm Marrying the wife of a fallen son Soldier she'll give birth they'll just think that she got pregnant very quickly and we can just live out the rest of our lives I'll tell everybody you you know I'll just tell everybody you know this child this child was UAH you know and all of that and live out the rest of the life that way living out a life can I tell you before I go to another chapter in this story it's no fun living a lie it's much better to have a restart and restructure your life for god well as the story goes as The Story Goes David had yah killed and he took basheba and a little boy baby boy a baby boy was born a baby boy was born and um the Bible says if you get me 2 Samuel somehow I miss putting these notes down today but if you give me 2 Samuel chapter 12 let's look at verse number one David has covered it all up he's married bash Sheba everything's covered up and then verse 12 or chapter 12 and the Lord sent Nathan unto David and he came unto him and said unto him there were two men in one city the one rich and the other poor let me say this Nathan was David's preacher Nathan was David's prophet Nathan was the word of the Lord to David I want you to understand something the word of God and the preached word of God is the greatest thing you could ever welcome into your life even when it has exposed your sin it's the greatest thing that you could ever have in your life Nathan came and he told David a story about sheep of which David was very very fond of sheep tells him a story about sheep and tells him about a rich man that had a entire flock of sheep and tells him a story about a poor man that had one little household one little household lamb it was so close to him that it ate out of the same plate that he ate out of it was so close to him that one little household lamb was so close that it even drank water out of the same cup and he told he said in the middle of the night a traveler came to the rich man to stay the night and the rich man instead of going out and getting one of many of his sheep in the darkness of night went over to the poor man's Hut and while the poor man slept he got that one little household lamb and he brought that man's one little lamb back and he killed it cooked it and gave it to the traveler David had all he could stand his veins in his neck his face turned blood red and his fist begin to clinch he jumped up and he said the man that has done this shall pay four times over again for his heartless his heartless decision to take a man's one little lamb he'll pay for it over four times he'll pay for it and then here came the dagger Thou Art The Man David you had many wives and concubines that you could have had but all Uriah had was his basba all he had was his one little lamb that's all he had and David you have taken the life you have taken the life of Uriah now stop right here because it's more to being just preached at you got to own it because when Nathan the preacher the prophet got through with exposing David David didn't find some little kink in Nathan's armor David David didn't find some one little excuse well I believe you play favoritism and I I believe you're this you're that we can explain away our flesh will give us an excuse for everything that we hear about the preached word as a matter of fact if we don't watch it in the church today preaching will become the entertainment of the service if a preacher doesn't tell us some good jokes and keep our attention we don't like him but let let a let let let a Bible teacher get up or let somebody just get up and start calling the church out for its sin and long said I I I I'm not I won't be back tonight I'm I'm not going to sit and hear that listen entertainment will never change our lives but the preached word of God will change our lives if we could we can look God I'm not living up to this right now but God would you help me live up to this God Lord I'm not going to allow your word to condemn me I'm going to allow your word to direct me in the direction I'm not there yet God but I want to get there God I want to get to that place God but here it is Thou Art the man but here better be your response I have sinned I have sinned you see David's response began to rebuild his life David's response gave him a fresh start was David's response when he said I have sinned that brought him back to the foundation of his faith in God I have sinned but then listen to the prophet and the prophet said God had put away your sin God had put away your sin you will not die and I like that way I like the how I like how it's phrased God had put away thy sin Thou shalt not die do you know when I don't allow God to put away my sin when I don't allow God to put away my sin I carry my sin and guess what it in the in my mind guess what category it's under regret when I don't allow God to take my sin when I don't have faith in the word of God when I don't have faith in the word of God that the mercies of God are fresh and new every morning and God stands with arms that have been hands that have been pierced to say come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest I am your sacrifice for your sin If any man confess his sin is the the John say John says I write unto you that we sin not but if any man sin and I'm not advocating sinning I'm trying to help us today to understand how we get out of sinning if I write unto you that you sin not but if any any man sin we have an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the righteous and his blood cleans us so what I need to do today what what I what I need to do today if I try to cover it up and I try to make excuses for it well I know I've done wrong but I I'm not near as bad as that guy sitting over there well I know I've done wrong but I'm not as near as bad as that lady over there when I begin to do that I live with regret in my mind now I'm going to tell you what regret is Regret is an energy drainer living in regret drains your energy you have no energy to break hold you have no energy you're just existing you're you're you're you're you're blah you're you're you're just existing why I don't know and some some people even go to the doctor doctor could you help me could you give me some kind of pick them up pill because I just feel so drab I'm not advocating not going to the doctor but I am telling you that if you have a lack of energy and you have a lack of vision and you maybe you're dealing with things up here that you're always living in regret regret regret when God is saying I'd like to lead you out of that regret I'd like to give you peace and joy I didn't just come to give you life I came to give you life somebody help me today I came to give you life and I come to give you lot more what more what give me my first I'm going to use a little illustration here today here's my first I asked you for a mirror today and I I Windex the mirror I got it all clean for church all right you know what regret is like regret is like the rear view mirror of your car I don't want to be on any Highway that 99.9% of the time you look in your rear viiew cuz if you're always looking at where you've been you don't know where you're going well let's just try there Cole I'm I'm going to use you an example come on come on all right I want you to look in the mirror of regret all right that's all I want you to look in all right you you focused on the mirror of regret follow me is this how slow you're walking God said come follow you come on come follow me come on follow me cuz come on follow me keep looking in a mirror of regret come on follow me can't you get those steps no quicker than that H come on follow me are you looking down are you cheating huh no okay you're about to trip over some speakers all right all right let's go down now Zach get up here in case he falls that's the best you can do right best I can do all right let's take regret away from you now go to the top of them steps and back sir come on down what's the difference when we live our lives and regret we live our lives in the past that's how we go through life we can't see God saying we trip over things we fall over things because we're always looking in a rearview mirror things that we can't do anything about you you you cannot unring a rung Bell I'm not going say it again you cannot unring a rung Bell and there's things in all of us I wish somebody shout all of us all of there's things in all of us it's why we have the blood that's right that's why we have a savior that's loving and kind and gentle and forgiving is because news flash he knows your flesh oh oh I you you nothing surprises God that's why he became flesh he knew you would never become like him if he never became like you but because he became like us we can become no no I'm not I'm not living a life of regret anymore I'm going to repent the Bible says the Bible says you may be seated the Bible says that God said David you're not going to die I've taken your sin but the baby's going to die you've given great occasion to the enemies to blashe and the child's going to die and David went in and lay on the floor of the temple for seven days and seven nights and the baby was sick and they kept coming to David and they kept saying David would you eat no I don't want to eat David would you drinking on David and then on the seventh day the baby died the product of his sin died and the Bible said David look brother sin David looked and he saw the servants whispering and he looked at one he said is the child dead and they said he is dead and David got up and washed himself and anointed himself and changed his clothes and went in into the house of God and there he began to Worship the Lord and they came to him and they said David your behavior is quite different said most people fast and pray and mourn and lay in the floor when the death has happened but you did it while he was yet alive and now that he's dead you have got up you have washed yourself you have anointed yourself you have changed your clothes and you have went into the church house and you have begin to say bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me for God is good to Israel high and holy is the name of Jehovah for the Lord is my shepherd I shall not walk he leadth me beside David what are you what are you doing you you've got this backward he said no I don't have it backward he said that child that mistake is never coming back to me that that mistake is in heaven I that mistake will never it was
