well praise the Lord everybody so good to see in the house of the Lord on this beautiful Wednesday evening here the last Wednesday evening in the month of November and so good to see such an awesome crowd that come out to bible study on this Wednesday night and I'm ready to teach Bible study tonight I am I am in my favorites I am in my favorite Pulpit tonight and I'm I am ready I am ready to teach bible study this evening and then in the morning I'm ready to turn into an evangelist and uh you know I gave my heart to God and now they call it by different names now that back back when I was in Christian School we called it Chapel it's what we call it Chapel and uh but now they call it rush rush and that's uh is that what they still call it they still call it rush rush rush it stands for uh acronym R you serving him and I'm gonna find out tomorrow if you're serving him all right and so we're going to have a good time here uh in the morning at uh at rush at rush service I I heard a funny story last night you please turn to Genesis 12 and 1 but I heard a funny story last night made me laugh how many knows laughter is good right made me laugh it made me Courtney it made me laugh I can't help it just made me made me laugh I walked into the Sevierville church last night to do Bible lesson for the Brandon Nelson met me he's a head Usher There he met me he said pastor he said do you know how to catch a squirrel I thought well no I haven't really thought about how to catch a squirrel I said now what did you say he said you know how to catch a squirrel I said no brother Brandon I don't know how to catch a squirrel would you like to know how to catch a squirrel I said yeah I'd like to know how to catch this world he said climb up a tree and act like a nut I've been trying to figure out how Darian I'm trying to figure out how to make that spiritual like you do you want to catch a miracle won't you praise him you know or something like that you know yeah all right Genesis chapter 12. let's go Genesis chapter 12 verse number one now the Lord had said unto Abraham or Abram get thee out of thy country and from thy Kindred from thy Father's House unto a lamb that I will show thee and I everybody say and I and I will make of thee a great nation and I everybody say and I and I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing and I will bless them that bless thee curse him that curseth thee and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed how many have heard the term used guilty by association you ever heard that term you're just guilty you were associated guilt by association well my title tonight is blessed by association blessed by association father I love you tonight thank you for the word of the Lord thank you for the praise thank you for what takes place in this Holy House thank you Lord in advance for what you're going to do tonight thank you in advance for what you're going to do through school Revival Lord we give you praise Lord please bless these people that have come out Lord Lord please lay a blessing of all all these men and women God that have gotten off their jobs and made it to the house of God tonight so Faithfully bless them Lord in Jesus name we pray amen amen you may be seated blessed blessed by Association blessed by association I read the first text tonight because I want you to know that Abraham was a man that God said I am going to make you a blessing I am going to make you a blessing now I'm not just going to bless you and I hope that you read that in those three verses I'm not just going to bless you I'm not just going to give you blessings but I'm going to make you I'm going to make you a blessing as a matter of fact God said about Abram he said there's going to be something so uh miraculous about you because you have obeyed my word you have come out of her of chaldees you have come out not knowing where you were going and I am I'm I'm going to to such make you a blessing that if there's anyone that blesses you I'm going to turn around and I am going to bless them because they have blessed you and if there would be anyone that would try to curse you try to hinder you try to stop you then God said I will curse them pretty powerful man would you know would you would you not say pretty powerful man as a matter of fact he's so powerful that God said at the end of verse 3 that not some of the families of the earth will be blessed because of you but he said all of the families of the earth will be blessed because of you blessed by association how many would like to know tonight by way of Bible study what it means to be blessed by association well you know what it means to be guilty by association you're you're around someone that's doing a deed that's illegal and you know that it's illegal and you become guilty according to the law because you were associated with the the person that committed the crime well I'm not interested in that negative tonight I'm interested I want to be blessed by association I want to tell you first and foremost I want to drop the biggest uh the deepest thought this is what I want you to go home with tonight when we associate ourselves with God's structure when we associate ourselves with God's Church we are blessed because of Association there is a blessing that comes upon people when they associate themselves with what is blessed in God's church is blessed we'll just turn one chapter back chapter number 11 of Genesis and verse number 31 the Bible says in Tira now this was Abram's father Tyra took Abram his son and lot the son of heron his son's son we're going to talk about lot a pardon the pun what we're going to talk about a lot a lot tonight all right we're going to talk about lot a lot this evening because lot finds himself for a period of time bless by association of Abram Abram was the one God made the promise to but lot Associated himself with Abram lot was Abram's nephew lot's brother hayren had died early and lot Abram became responsible for lot so now we have the blessing of God upon Abram but the scripture tells us and if you would flip back to Genesis 12 with me for a moment Verses 4 and 5. Abraham obeys and the Bible says in verse 4 so Abram Departed as the Lord had spoken unto him and follow this now and who went with him lot went with him Abram was 75 years old when he departed out of heron and Abram took Sarah his wife and lot his brothers son now just just look at that for a moment because I'm really going to emphasize that word took took and Abram took Sarah his wife and lot his brother's son it is possible I don't feel I'm doing any harm to the word of God that is very possible that lot could have been of an age that he didn't have a choice he could have been brother Nami I believe I'm safe here tonight that lot could have been at an age where he didn't have a choice whether he went with Abram or not Abram was over him and he the Bible says took lot he took light can I tell you tonight at the greatest blessing that we could bring our children while they're under age is to take them to the house of God no questions asked no questions asked while there are of age and we are responsible for them take them to God's house don't dare submit yourself to the spirit of the Parenthood of this age that says let those kids make their own decisions we better take them to the house of God you know I'm going to take my children to the house of God because it's the greatest thing I could ever do for my children is to associate them with something to associate them with something that is blessed and so lot Abraham Abram took lot now on this journey that Abram had was many blessings that came they were not only spiritual blessings that came with Abram every day was a new day every week was a new depth of a relationship with God there was not only spiritual blessings that filled the mind of Abram but there was also material blessings material blessings that came not only and you'll see this in a moment these material blessings not only came to Abram but they also came to lot why because he was associated with a blessing and because he associated with the blessing he was blessed in a measure of Abram just go to chapter 13 with me verse number one and Abram went up out of Egypt he and his wife and all that he had and lot with him into the South now I could take that verse there and the word took is not mentioned the word took is not mentioned there and Abram went up out of Egypt he and his wife and all that he had and lot with him into the South the word tooth is removed is it very possible that lot has caught on that it is a blessing to be with Abram there's something blessing to be isn't it wonderful to raise our children and yes we do take them to the house of God but I'm looking at young people tonight young adults tonight that I remember when the announcement came that you came into this world and I watched through years of your parents bringing you to the house of God but now you are grown you are married you're on your own and you're coming to the house of God because not because Mom and Dad are taking me or making me you're coming to the house of God because you through the years have seen that it is a blessing to be Associated to what God has blessed verse 2 Abram was very rich in cattle and silver and in gold and he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning between Bethel and A.I under the place of the altar which he had made there at the first and there Abram called upon the name of the Lord now I know we're talking about what Abraham did but do you know that lot got to stand off and lot got to watch Abram worship lot got to watch Abram make mistakes and get back up try again lot got to witness all of this verse number five and a lot also and lot also which went with Abram had flocks and herds and Tents so you see my do you see where I'm going now he is blessed by association Abraham was very rich but Abram but lot but lot also went with him and he had flocks and herds and Tents and the land was not able to Bear them that they might dwell together for the substance was so great that they could not dwell together now let's let me save a few a little bit of time here and tell you that Abram and lot ran into a situation they became so blessed that the land didn't have enough grass for their cattle to eat they became so blessed that the land did not have enough water for all their animals to drink from and so now Abram is not just herding a flock Abram has herdsmen he has men to do this for him but guess what lot is not far behind him for lot is not a herdsman lot is so blessed he have he has herdsmen for his flock also but then a problem arose there became strife and contention and arguing over the land when a blessing turns into contention when they became so blessed that they were arguing and possibly fighting over who gets the next water hole or who gets that Hilltop of green grass and they begin to argue and they begin to bicker and words came back to lot hey Abrams Abram's herdsmen are arguing and word came to Abram hey lots lots herdsmens are arguing and there's bickering you know there should never be contention among people that are blessed there should never be Strife the bigger the greatest thing that will stop a move of God in the church is not the world the greatest thing that'll stop a move of God in the church and keep a church from Heaven Revival is Strife among the members the world can do what it's going to do and the church can be on fire with Revival but let the church members get its Strife with each other and what has been blessed now becomes a curse so Abram here in this 13th chapter Abram just steps out and he says lot he says this shouldn't be going on this bickering shouldn't be going on this stripe shouldn't be going on all of this envy and stripe and jealousy and Malice and backbiting and all of this stuff shouldn't be going on he said to lot lot just choose a direction any direction choose a direction any direction in whichever direction you choose I give you first choice I give you first choice any direction you choose I'll turn around and I'll go the opposite way now when we take a decision we have to understand when we make decisions don't just make decisions based on the moment try to think about the effects your decision will make on your future think about the think about the effects that your decision will make on your children this decision appears to be a it appears to be a common sense decision the common sense decision could it be that lot being much younger than Abram could it be that lot brother Hammond being much younger thought to himself my uncle is old my uncle is out of touch my uncle my uncle is out of touch with things he's old my uncle is my uncle is making making bad decisions well it's only common sense it's only Common Sense look at that green luscious Valley look at those palm trees look at those green valleys down through there Common Sense tells you that's the best place to go can I tell you that everything that is common sense isn't always the wisest to do everything that is oh that's a common sense decision that doesn't mean it's the wisest thing it's the wisest thing for you to do well Abram now think for a moment lot can we think for a lot for a moment do you realize a lot everything you have you have for one reason everything you have you have for one reason and that is you are associated to a blessing and if I choose to go in an opposite direction from you what am I going in the opposite direction of the blessing you see you can have the blessing things and it would be better see the best thing that lot could have ever done was say you know what I must stay with you Uncle Abram I must stay with you it is you that God has called God did not call me but God called you I must stay with you Uncle Abram it is you that God said he would make a blessing God didn't say I'll bless lot but God did say I'll bless you know Abram I would rather stay associated for the Peace of my mind and for the Peace of my family and for the future of my children I would rather have less material things and stay attached to you than to have more material things and be detached from what has blessed us now that would have been the wisest thing or a lot to do but light shows the whale watered planes of Jordan you know I've got another I've got another passage of scripture please State keep one hand in Genesis but go to the Book of Ruth with me for a moment and I want to dwell on that that uh common sense now I'm not saying don't don't go with common sense but don't use common sense as the will of God because everything that is common sense may not be the best thing spiritually for you for example when people ask a question brother Carpenter if I do this is it a sin you're asking the wrong question you ought to ask this question is this wise for me to do is this wise for me to do not not is it a sin you need to ask yourself the question if I do this what effect will it have upon me what effect will it happen on my family what effect would it have upon my children and so in the Book of Ruth we know that Naomi goes down Naomi goes down uh to to Moab and they're her two sons and her husband's her husband dies and she's left with only her two daughter-in-laws and Naomi hears that there's bread in Israel Naomi decides she's going back to Israel and look at chapter one verse 8 of Ruth Naomi's two daughter-in-laws follow after her and Naomi said unto her two daughter-in-laws go return each to her mother's house the Lord deal kindly with you as you have dealt with the dead and with me the Lord grant you that ye may find rest each of you in the house of her husband then she kissed them and they lifted up their voice and wet and they said unto her he was the two daughter-in-laws talking to her their two daughter-in-laws are moabites they said unto her surely we will return with thee unto thy people oh no we will go with you and Naomi said turn again my daughters why will you why will you go with me are there yet any more Suns in my womb that they may be your husbands turn again my daughters go your way for I am too old to have a husband if I should say I have hope if I should have a husband also tonight and should also bear Sons would you tarry for them till they were grown would you stay for them from having husbands name my daughters for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord has gone out against me they lifted up their voice wept again orpa kissed her mother-in-law but Ruth claving to her now Naomi spoke common sense to these two girls she spoke Common Sense she said why you following me back why are you going to go to a Strange Land why are you going to follow me back to a Strange Land he said I'm old I'm not going to get married again said if I would get married today and have a have a child conceive a child would you wait nine months and then after nine months would you would you wait 15 20 years or whatever would you would you hang around to see if they would even like you would you even hang around to see that and do you know that common sense it clicked to Oprah she said man that's common sense that makes sense she got some kleenexes out and dabbed her eyes a little bit she said see you but the Bible says the Bible says that Ruth what verse was that verse 14. the Bible says but Ruth clave unto her had to be something about Naomi that got a hold of Ruth and then in verse 15 and Naomi said Behold thy sister-in-law in other words she pointed in the direction she pointed oh orpra was headed back down the road to Moab back down to her gods and Naomi just kind of motioned with her hand said look look look Naomi look Ruth look thy sister-in-law has gone back unto her people and under her gods return Thou after thy sister law see just go on back after your sister looking at this going back sometimes common sense is not the best thing for your future she looked at Ruth she looked at Naomi in verse 16 and Ruth said and treat me not to leave you in other words can I put it in the KRC version that's Kenneth Ray Carpenter version all right stop talking to me about leaving and treat me not to leave thee or to return from following after thee for whether thou goest I will go whether thou largest I will Lodge thy people shall be my people and thy God my God where thou direst will I die and there will I be buried the Lord do so to me and more also if ought but death part thee and me and when she saw that she was steadfast and minded to go with her and then she left speaking unto her not one time is the word husband mentioned and what Ruth wanted to do not one time did Ruth mention a husband but how many knows that Ruth got a husband how many knows that Ruth understood that Naomi is blessed there's something about this Jewish woman walking into this moabite city there's something about the way she worships there's something about the way that she acts and Ruth said I'm not going back to the false gods of Moab I'm not going back to an old life I'm going with you it doesn't make any sense but where you go I go it doesn't make any sense I don't even know your people but your people will be my people it doesn't even make any sense I don't know much about your God but your God will be my God can I tell you when we stay connected associated with what is blessed God is going to give us the desires of our heart Ruth is going to meet a man by the name of Boaz she would have never met Boaz had she not been willing to put Common Sense aside and follow after follow after Naomi now how many knows going back to Genesis chapter 13. that lot chose the well-watered plains of Sodom now listen to me listen very closely lot did not choose to live in Sodom and Gomorrah he simply chose to live in the direction of Sodom and Gomorrah spiritual graveyards your filled with the relics of men and women of all ages that their famous words when they left the church the Blessed structure said oh I'm not going to become like the world oh I'm not going all the way out there in the world oh oh I'm never going to do this and that I'm just going to detach myself from the Blessed structure of the church and I'm telling you spiritually speaking the spiritual landscape looks like a shipyard where where ships have been sunk all around because that's the famous last words I'm not going all the way to Sodom I'm just going to pitch my tent toward Sodom I'm just going to look in the direction can I tell you the world is like a vacuum the world is like a magnet anytime you begin to detach yourself from what is blessed that world has a greater pull upon you that's why you ought to involve yourself in the ways of the church don't just attend this church find out how to get involved in this church well that's a good place to give a hand clap right now don't don't just attend church here no don't just attend church here find out how to get in the choir find out how to get on the fit team find out how to be a whatever your talent is find out how to attach yourself well why no there's a number of reasons and the first reason is because if you're not attached to this church when the vacuum and the magnet of the world begins to pull it's just going to pull you away there ought to be an obligation that you feel I've got to go I've got to go to church tonight you know I get to go I got to go I don't care which it is there's sometimes I get to go to church and then sometimes I got to go to church I thank God for both of those tonight because they keep me attack I'm telling you the church is blessed if you want to be blessed stay attached to the church can somebody say Amen he just simply pitched his tent towards Sodom I'm not going to go all the way that's a wicked City that's a wicked City down there that's a wicked City down there I'm just gonna pitch my tent in the direction every morning when I get up that's what that meant hit his tent door the front door of his tent face Sodom so every morning that he got up he saw Sodom but can I tell you he not only saw Sodom but Sodom saw him you see the God of this world understands when you begin to detach yourself from what's blessed and you not only start seeing the world differently but the world starts seeing you wasn't much longer after a lot would pitch his tent toward the ways of Sodom she better be careful where you live spiritually because every place every place is not protected by the hand of God see Abraham when he left lot when he left lot he went to a place called Hebron and that place called Hebron means Fellowship and the Bible said Abram built an altar into the Lord there he continued to be blessed but lot finds himself now not just in the direction of Sodom but in Genesis 14 and verse 10. he finds himself living inside of but the Bible says that five Wicked Kings made a confederation and they attacked Sodom and Gomorrah the Bible says in verse 10 of chapter 14 in the veil of Sodom was full of slime pits and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell there and there and they that remained fled to the mountain now notice this you ever noticed something when when lot looked at Sodom and Gomorrah he saw luscious Green Fields and wonderful trees but do you know a closer look there's all these things called slime pits it's the equivalent of what we know is quicksand all through the land the valley there were places to where if you fell into it it will suck you under and take your life and the moral of the story is this the world is easy to get in but it's hard to get out a worldly habit is easy to pick up at happy hour but oh it's so hard to lay down when you realize you're not living in a blessed place when you realize I have detached myself from what is blessed the Bible says that they are the Kings they're the Kings there they fail the Bible says in Genesis 14 and 11 and they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah women all the goods that has got to mean that they took everything that lot had gotten when he was with Abraham and they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their rituals and they went their way and they took lot Abram's brother's son who dwelt in Sodom and his goods and departed there came one not just for time's sake tell you what happened I wonder what I wonder in lot's mind it's a store I wonder what happened in lot's mind when word came five Kings have surrounded the city and they're killing people I wonder if he thought never had that happen when I was with Uncle Uncle Abram I wonder when things started falling apart in his life if he didn't think I never had that trouble I never had that trouble when I was with Uncle Abram I never had that and how about when they rode their horses down the street and they took Abra they took lots cattle they took lot's family I wonder the fear that struck through him when he thought I've never been manhandled like this before I've never been tied up when they threw him on the back of a wagon and began to haul him off as a captive if he didn't go through his mind if he didn't go through his mind I never had this happen can I tell you learn a lesson and I let all of us learn a lesson I want that story to be always told about somebody else but God I don't want it to be told about me I want to I want to learn a lesson tonight I don't care how shaky it gets around here I am going to associate with what is blessed I'm going to associate the church is older than me it's been around for 2 000 years Lions couldn't eat it fires couldn't stop it pharaohs couldn't deter it it's the Church of the Living God and I'm going to stay involved come on give him praise tonight Church just for time's sake just for time to say Lord finds himself tied up as a captive I don't know how many days weeks or me maybe even months he was a captive by these five confederations of Kings but all of a sudden one night 318 armed men came into the camp and they begin to kill the captives they begin to kill those that had taken them captive and these 318 men begin to utter the word we're looking for a young man named lot we're looking for lot I can hear a lot say I'm over here I'm tied up over here what are you looking for me we are soldiers from your uncle Abram's Army and we have come to rescue you now right then and right there I'd have said where's Uncle at because I got a lot of crow I need to eat I'm telling you where's Uncle Abraham at because I want to tell him please just let me come back to you just let me get to your side just let me walk beside you just let me be beside you folks I don't understand it I don't understand it but guess where a lot went right back to son he went right back to Sodom he stayed there for some time it was a wicked City he stayed there for some time in this wicked City and he didn't know that across the mountain some few hundred miles was Abraham and the Lord the Lord had come to see Abram the Lord come to tell Abram that Sarah was going to bear but just before the Lord left Abram that's nine months Sarah is going to give a child the Lord spoke to one of the angels and the Lord said shall I hide what I'm about to do from Abram now listen to the basis of this the Lord said to one of the Angels I'm about to do something should I hide it from Abram and then listen to this What God Says seeing he shall raise his children to follow me Now isn't that a wonderful thing for God to want to let us in on the end times because I know they're going to raise their kids right down at that church so the greatest blessing the greatest the greatest thing that parents want to do in this church tonight if you're if you're a child here tonight I'm going to tell you the agenda of your mother and father is to attach you to what's blessed if you're in the youth group tonight I'm going to go ahead and tell you right here and right now it's not about hot dogs and led screens it's not about it's not about nycs or anything like that it's all about one thing we want to connect you to what is blessed so that when you're out on your own you just come right back to this place and say I've been blessed I found my husband in this house I found my wife in this house I found Direction in this house I I found all of these things should I hide this thing that I'm about to do go ahead Lord tell him Abram The Cry of Sodom and Gomorrah has come to me and I am going to destroy I am going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah and boy it didn't Abraham he stepped up and he said oh God now now why was Abraham concerned Why was Abraham concerned his nephew lot was inside him oh oh God I I I've got him out I I said 318 men to get him but he didn't learn his lesson listen to this now listen to this there's two things that happen when people detach themselves to the church sometimes this works just keep calling them when they get detached from the church call them call them call them call them text them call them take them out to lunch do whatever you can try to get them back in but when that doesn't work the next thing that you're to do is intercessory prayer I'm going to destroy Sodom agaro well why didn't why didn't Abram just simply say well hey I'll go ahead and send I'll go ahead and send my Army of 318 men go there and get him get everything he's got because you know why I've already done that once and he went right back if I'm going to help him this time I'm going to have to pray him out of Sodom when the text messages doesn't work and the invitations to lunch doesn't work don't stop start praying more and don't stop praying until their faces walk back through the church don't stop praying God hears God hears God so women God my nephew's down there my nephew's watched down there my nephew my nephew's got daughters and and my they got married and and and and and and he said God it's not like you God to destroy the righteous with the wicked he said God if there was 50 people God if there's 50 righteous people would you spare the city God said I'll spare the city if I can find 50 righteous people in Sodom and Gomorrah I'll spare it and Abram went on down 45 40 30. and he got down to 10. he got down to 10. he said God now that's a long way from 50. he started at 50. if you find 50 God would you yes I'll and he kept coming on down until he got to ten he said God he said if you found 10 if there's 10 righteous people would you save the city God said if I find 10 righteous people I'll save the whole cities of Sodom and Gomorrah if I can find 10 righteous the Angels Came to Sodom lot was in the gate of Sodom you know the story lot tries to tell them to come inside and this whole ordeal that happens that happens there turn with me to um the 19th Chapter the 19th Chapter of Genesis 19th Chapter of Genesis in them Chapter 19 Verse 12. listen to the angels and the men said unto lot hast thou hear any besides son-in-law and and thy sons and thy daughters and once or thou Hast in the city bring them out of this place for we will destroy this place because the Cry of them is wax and great before the face of the Lord and the Lord has sent us to destroy it lot went out and spake unto his sons-in-law which married his daughters and said up get you out of this place for the Lord will destroy this city but he seemed as one that mocked into his sons-in-law when the morning arose then the Angels hastened Lots saying arise take thy wife and thy two daughters that's only four which are here lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city while he lingered the men laid hold upon his hand upon the hand of his wife and upon the hand of his two daughters the Lord being merciful unto him and brought them forth and set them without the city and came to pass when they had brought them forth abroad that he said escape with our life look not behind they need to stay there on all the plane escape to the mountain lest thou be consumed and lots said unto them oh not so my Lord behold now thy servant have found Grace in thy sight and thou has magnified thy mercy which thou have shown unto me and saving my life and I cannot escape to the Mount unless some evil take me and I die of course let me tell you that lot tried to offer another city and the angel said okay we'll offer another city and lot his wife and his two daughters made their way being led by the hand of the Angels we understand that when they got in that City when they got when they got out of that City God rained down fire and brimstone upon Sodom and Gomorrah and reduced it to ashes he brought he didn't wait for the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah to go to hell he said I'm going to bring hell to you on this Earth and he rained down fire and he rained down brimstone somehow Lot's wife did not fully accept the word she looked back and when she looked back don't ever look back on what God's destroyed don't ever look back stay attached to what what is blessed Lord finds himself without a wife she turns into a pillar of salt lot finds himself but just him and his two daughters without being graphic very graphic about this he runs to a cave that's interesting a man that once had great wealth finds himself reduced to just me and my two daughters you see when we make decisions when we're blessed when we're attached to something that's blessed when we're attached to something that's blessed we need to look out at whatever's drawing our attention away say you want to go to the world say you want to go out and live like the world could you take a look at the Youth of this world is that how you want your little girl to look when you say say you want to go to the world can you take a look at some of the young boys in the world today say that's how you want your young son to look say they can't tell today they're not accepting their gender they're confused they're suicide there's all of this running rampant in youth today is that how you want your children to look I can go across town over here to Knoxville to a church now they don't have the standards but they're kind of apostolic-ish have you looked at their children have you
