turn with me to romans chapter 12 verse number one romans chapter 12 verse number one we'll read verses one and two we're in this series body soul and spirit uh while you're looking for that my wife told me of something she saw today a little saying and it's so true it says when you were born you look like your parents when you die you will look like your decisions when you were born you look like your parents but when you die you will look like your decisions and uh i'm thankful that through the power of the word of god the power of the word of god that we get to decide what condition we die in and i want to die that my decisions that my decisions have been good decisions romans 12 and 1 i beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of god that you present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto god which is your reasonable service and be not conformed to this world but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of god father i love you tonight i thank you lord for your anointing your presence god that's in this room tonight lord i pray this evening lord father that you would just touch our hearts may your word bring illumination to us god may your word lord change and alter our lives tonight may your word birth hope in us may your word birth decision in us lord touch us tonight in jesus name we pray amen and amen you may be seated it's wonderful to hear the word of god isn't it how many is glad to hear the word of god it's wonderful to hear the word of god i was sitting beside a gentleman on a plane today and he asked me he looked over at me and he said preacher and i told him i was a preacher he said preacher i want to ask you a question he said what do you call a pig that goes to the car wash i said i don't know he said hogwash and he said well i've been sitting with you on the plane today he said i have not heard any hogwash so i i think he was complimenting me all right i think he was what he says here the apostle paul says that we the decision is ours we are to present our bodies we are to present it's our decision we are to present our bodies a living sacrifice it's it's our decision that we make later on paul in the first book of corinthians chapter 6 verse 12 we'll go there i wanted to read romans 12 1-2 just to extract that it is our responsibility to present our bodies a living sacrifice it's left up to us in first corinthians chapter 6 and verse number 12 paul is addressing sexual immorality in the church in the church that was in corinth paul was addressing sexual immorality in the church not in the community in the church in the church so some people that want to live a myth and say oh i wish i lived in the book of acts days i wish i lived in the bible days and had paul for a pastor i wish i wish i could went to church with some of those first century saints after i get through you may be thankful you're here with us tonight he addresses sexual immorality he says all things are lawful unto me but all things are not expedient all things are lawful for me but i will not be brought under the power of any let me see what that verse means paul said there are things that are lawful for me to do but they are not expedient the word expedient means to my advantage to my spiritual advantage so paul begins to say you should not look at your walk with god based on what is lawful he said there's a lot of things that are lawful for me but the measuring stick that i use is not what is lawful for me but what is to my advantage because quite honestly all of us need all the help in the world to get to heaven to be who he has called us to be i'm telling you i need to lay aside every weight i need everything to work in my favor i don't need to import any more weights i've got enough on my own i i want to look at things and question things through the eyes of is this expedient will this work for my spiritual good he says in verse 13 he says meats for the belly and the belly for meats but god shall destroy both it and them now it's unusual here he says and i want you to know that meat was made by god for your body meat was made for your stomach it was made for your stomach and your stomach was made for me watch the two meat was made from my stomach and my stomach was made for meat but god shall destroy both it and them now here's a little sub you say well why does he start talking about the body was made for meat and meat was made for the body because he's going to introduce a subject and he says now the body is not for fornication but for the lord and the lord for the body he started off by saying meat was made for the body and the body was made from meat and then he turns it around he says this is what i'm trying to tell you you were not made for fornication your body was not made for fornication but your body here we go your body for the lord the end of verse 13 but for the lord and the lord for the body now notice this he says your body and what fornication is and we'll go into it in just a moment it's any unsanctioned sexual act any unsanctioned sexual act paul says i want you to know something your body was not made for fornication body but your body was made for the lord ties back into romans 12 1 and 2. i pray i preach beseech you by the mercy of god that you present your body it's up to you you present your body as a living sacrifice he says to this church he says your body was not made for fornication but your body was made for the lord and the lord for the body verse 14 and god hath raised up both the lord and will also raise us up raise up us by his own power now watch this he starts talking about getting things right your body was made for the lord therefore there will be a glorious resurrection but if you choose to believe that your body was made for you to satisfy it and gratify it with unsensual sexual behavior you will not have a glorious resurrection as a matter of fact you will not have a glorious life down here he says the body was made for the lord and the lord for the body verse 14 and god hath both raised up the lord and will also raise up us by his own power know ye not that your bodies are the members of christ now this is why we're going to hammer away at this because we have several layers of generation that have believed the lie that it only matters what's in the heart and anybody that lives a separate life must be a pharisee that must be if you you decide that your body is the temple of the holy ghost that you must be a a pharisee because all that matters is what's in your heart according to paul paul says know you not that your bodies are the members of christ your bodies are the members of christ i recently saw a picture of a so-called politician and i do emphasize so-called politician i didn't look long at the picture i looked enough to think that's about right but she went to a ball the other night with a gown that had been made for her and on the back of it i don't know how many thousands of dollars they said that sister yoko she spent getting that gown made but on the back of that white gown it simply said tax the rich tax the rich sure tax the rich tax people that get up go to work work a job tax people that take little businesses and grow it into big industries tax those people tax them so that you can have enough money to give those folks that won't get up and go to work that's now so help me god that's what she's really saying by that she is using her dress to convey her message let that sink in in case anybody's googling it right now i promise you pastor didn't look at it but about three or four seconds just to see it came up on it just came up on my aol feed that's my email aol i know this came up on my aol feed tax the rich he says know you not that your body's bodies bodies are the members of christ your bodies are the members of christ you know i wonder how we would live if we truly had something around us that reminded us always of who we are if sin if sent if if if if going into a so-called adult bookstore which i call it an idiot shop nothing adult about it if it's so right then why do they have a fence that you can drive behind and hide yourself as you go in now just buckle up okay know you're not that your bodies are the members of christ he's talking to the church shall i then take the members of christ and make them the members of a harlot shall i take the members of christ probably there were some of these people in the corinthian church that said well it don't really matter as a matter of fact there's a there's a popular teaching that says when you sin when you sin when your body does it but your heart doesn't want to do it and and and that's not sin i heard i heard someone on the radio a minister so-called i knew the politician so-called that said there's a difference between a saved or there's a difference between a saint that lies and a sinner that lies said when the saint lies they really don't want to in their heart but when the sinner lies they just do what comes natural i don't know about you but i remember being a sinner lying and i felt bad i knew i was lying didn't have the holy ghost i was lying i knew i was stealing you get a witness now some of you might come in with a jacket on sunday morning with the letters across it vote the preacher out but that's absolutely foolishness to justify god godless living by really didn't want to do it he really my body my instincts my caveman instincts to me but i really didn't want to do it paul said well let me show you what you've done when you went down and got that harlot which was a form of fornication when you went and got that harlot and you joined yourself with them paul said no you're not that your bodies are the members of christ shall i then take the members of christ and make them the members of a harlot and i do know i do no injustice to the word sister carpenter say do i take the members of christ and join them to fornication that's a question at the end of harlot can i still be a christian and engage in fornication i'm going to answer it god forbid now now now when you say god forbid that's not that's not like some people use that term oh that that happened that that was just terrible what happened god forbid no no no it really means god forbid god does not allow it if you choose to practice if you choose to practice if you choose to live in fornication i want you to know god leaves you he leaves you well that's pretty now now because he's why we got to preach this teaches to this generation because we have a little aftertaste in our mouth our genera this generation today this generation today has just about odd on mercy most pastors will tell you today i'll describe my ministry to you today i have the ministry of building guardrails on the cliffs of life because i don't want i don't want people to drive off the mountain but i'm dual nature i not only am building guard rails but i'm also an ambulance driver and a paramedic for those that choose to drive over the guardrails and crash at the bottom but can i ask you something wouldn't it just be a whole lot better for your kids to be taught and your grandkids to be taught of the value of the guardrail instead of raising your daughter to get on the birth control wouldn't it be a whole lot easier just to believe what god's word says because she may not get pregnant but i'm going to tell you something there's an eternity coming when you choose to fornicate god leaves you god forbid you cannot take the members of christ and join them fornication to a harlot god walks out god steps out well you need a scripture to back that powerful statement up i do it was a man greatly used of god his name was samson sampson's life can be summarized by this he was a he man but he had a she weakness he was an anointed man that had the spirit of god in him but he had a weakness for fornication and it just so happened in judges 16 and 20 that a harlot delilah judges 16 20. he had went in his life was marked by harlot after harlot he goes in in verse 20 and she said the philistines be upon thee samson follow closely now judges 16 20 and he awoke out of his sleep and said i will go out as at other times before and shake myself and he wished not that the lord was departed from him that's right because god said god said samson if you're going to live a life of fornication you are not going to live a life of my power surging through you i will be merciful for you with you for a time but when you choose to ignore my mercy and my admonition i will allow my spirit to move from me because quite honestly some people don't wake up until they realize god is gone how about the prodigal son in luke 15 and 30 the elder brother said about his behavior in luke 15 30 but as soon as this thy son was come which hath devoured thy living with harlots thou has killed for him the fatty calf can i tell you where he did not have his fornication with harlots at in the father's house so what's your point he had to go out of the presence of his father to have the fornication because there is a principle you will not have fornication in your life and god at the same time you will not that you will not mix them together let me go back to first corinthians 6 16. first corinthians 6 16. what know you not he that is joined to a harlot is one body for two saith he shall be one flesh but he that is joined unto the lord is one spirit look verse 18 tell me what the first word of verse 18 when it comes up on the screen what's the first word of verse 18 do what can it tell you something how you will avoid fornication is when you recognize the temptation don't walk run from it flee from it don't try to toy with it don't try to flirt around you will lose that battle ma'am you will lose that battle young person don't try to flirt with it listen it will take you down it will it will destroy you he said flee fornication every sin that a man doeth is without the body but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body in other words fornication keeps coming back around un sanctioned sexual behavior keeps coming back around and it gets a little worse it gets worse and worse what satisfied you here doesn't satisfy you now and it just keeps going on and on and on it will lead you into sexual perversion and let me tell you something god created something for the sexual part of you it's called marriage it's called marriage and if you will get build you biblical guidelines around your life you will build those biblical guidelines around your life god has a wonderful beautiful most fulfilling life for you to live but when you commit fornication it just keeps going on and on and on and on in pornography and perversion and this doesn't satisfy anymore and that doesn't and that's where we have gotten to today as a culture that is molesting children do you know what the number one statement that could be made of people whose fornication is brought to light i never dreamed this would happen that's right that's right you never dreamed it because fornication has a way of darkening the corners of the room you sin you sin against your own body in acts chapter 15 verse number 20 the gentiles that came into the church and the gentiles brother erickson created quite a stir there was jewish apostolic believers that were still holding on that they were the elite and that the gentiles could not be saved but word came from acts 8 and acts 10 the gentiles came into the church and when cornelius house came into the church the jews had to take a step back and they had to say well if we're going to let them come in the church at least circumcise them at least make them go through the painful process of circumcision and that caused quite a stir because now you have the gospel that looks something like this then peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of the lord jesus christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost and after that go get circumcised and this so stirred that the church the apostles came together in a council and peter rehearsed about cornelius and they talked about the gentiles finally james the pastor the superintendent james st stood forward and james said in acts chapter 15 verse 20 james wrote these words he says that we write unto them the gentiles that they abstain from pollutions of idols and from fornication and from things strength strangled and from blood he listed several things he said at least they need to stay away from these things and is it any surprise that fornication was one of those things he said you gotta tell the gentiles not to commit fornication you've got to tell the gentiles fornication is out and then in verse 29 of the same chapter verse 29 of the same chapter that you abstain from me to offer to idols and from blood and from and from things strangled and from fornication look at the last of these listen to the superintendent listen to the pastor james from which if you keep yourselves ye shall do well fare ye well you want to do well he said abstain from fornication i want you to know that fornication has no part in the kingdom of god we cannot allow fornication to become a thing that we accept in the church we cannot accept fornication in the church we have to teach against it we have to preach against it we cannot accept foreign account i'm going to tell you i'm going to tell you about fornication accepting fornication would be like me stepping up here after someone in this church commits had committed suicide and for me to get up and say i'm going to say something folks suicide is here to stay and we're just going to have to understand we're just going to have to understand we're going to have members commit suicide we're just going to have it's going to it's going it's in the world it's going to be in the church and what if you heard that time after time after time after time again the first thing that you would begin to believe hearing it from a pulpit is that evidently nothing's wrong with it and the next thing we would see a generation that would arise that would see suicide is the norm in life so therefore when they have pressures unbearable and they have problems in their life instead of coming and turning it over to god they just end their life because after all part of life i shall not i will not cave in to the pressure of this society and say that sexual sins fornication will just be a common thing in the church i believe that we've got a group of people that love god men that love god women that love god young people that love god that want to say put the guard rails on my life tell me about i i want to know fornication has no part in the kingdom of god if you are fornicating god has left you first corinthians chapter six verse number nine first corinthians chapter six verse number nine know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of god be not deceived boy he says it here and this a good place to put it because we can actually get deceived about our sin be not deceived be not deceived is it amazing look at this be not deceived neither what fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor abusers of themselves of mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of god there it is it's not up for discussion there it is so the next time fornication temptation comes you i hope you can hear this reverberating in your mind if i do this act i'm released i'm removing the lord from my life i'm removing him or let me say it biblically he is removing himself first corinthians chapter 10 verse number eight first corinthians chapter 10 verse number eight listen to paul talking to this church that is battling with fornication among its members first corinthians 10 and 8 neither let us neither let us i wish we'd read those three words together man we can just you know we can just really get on a little hobby horse about what's going on in the world and i can have you all standing up clapping shouting but i'm not concerned what's going on in the world i'm concerned about us neither let us commit what of some of the as some of them committed now he's rehearsing an old testament story he says neither let us commit fornication as some of them commit he's talking about israel in the wilderness as some of them committed and fell in one day three and twenty thousand neither let us tempt christ as some of them also tempted and were destroyed of serpents neither murmur ye as some of them also murmured and was destroyed of the destroyer you remember all that that judgment that happened in the old testament all that people dying the earth opening up the ground and swallowing up all the serpents all this judgment that came you know why we got it written in the new testament look at verse 11 why is this written in the new testament verse 11 now all these things happened unto them for examples and they are written for our admonition they're written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come you know why that was written because god said i know the church is going to face a barrage a flood of immorality of fornication being paraded and being legalized and being accepted but he said i want my church to know how i view fornication i want you to know that you see today that very word i want you to know can i share with you just a moment of personal a personal testimony of what really made me decide to quit fighting conviction and and while i'm on the subject i was praying i think it was sunday night or sunday morning here and the spirit of the lord spoke in my ear and he said you pray often for anointing when you need to pray for conviction anointing means the choir saying good anointing means that i preached and delivered the message but conviction means that the sinner was touched so i'm going to tell you something from now on you're going to hear me use that word conviction a whole lot more because that's why we gather together as a corporate body is to allow god to convict us for the way we live oh god convict me every time i come to church oh god if my attitude's not right god convict me god god don't let me feel the goose bumps and the chill bumps and have the good feels and all the time my life is drifting away from him god every time i come to church convict me god but i'll tell you what caused me to turn my life over to god every time i went to church my mother made me go to church and every time i went to church i fell into conviction and finally the principal at the principal at the christian school that i was in the knoxville school he said these words to me he said you know too much to live in the world now and be happy he said you felt too much he said you'll never be able to go out and do what you did before this school year started because in the back of your mind you felt the touch of god and you know there's something real and when he said that to me it was not a few weeks later i surrendered my life to god because it's a whole lot better to follow the lord than to fight the lord you hear me it's a whole lot better whoa it's a whole lot better to follow him than to fight him i mean he's glad you stopped fighting him and started following him javon can we praise him right now can we just god convict us god convict us god you know too much church we know too much to become a worldly church we know too much to let the world creep in in in romans chapter 1 verse number 18 romans 1 verse 18. listen to this romans chapter 1 verse 18 for the wrath of god is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness that word hold there means suppress can i tell you he's writing to the church he's not writing to congress or the senate he is looking at a church and he is saying the wrath of god is coming upon the person who holds suppresses the truth with one hand and tries to hold on to unrighteous ungodly living with the next the only thing you have to look forward to is the wrath of almighty god you cannot you know too much you know too much you can suppress it you can take one hand and say well i know every time i go to church i i get a little stirred and it's 25 to 9 and he's going to quit in a few moments and i'm just going to push and while the other thing i'm going to go home and i've got things on my television i've got apps and chat rooms and things you better get rid of them you better get rid of them i know this may be sound like an old-fashioned i am old-fashioned you better get rid of them you better cut clean because you need the lord's help and the lord's not going to help you as long as you've got that fornication in your life the lord's not going to help you as long as you're partaking that you got that little place you go you got that you you you got that and they come out listen the world comes out with all brother hammond did a wonderful thing brother erickson did a wonderful thing uh uh uh telling us us parents uh your children your child can have on his phone uh snapchat and that's where they can send a message take a picture and it'll dissolve well why would you want such trash ask yourself a question now i want to say i want you something what we don't need is necessarily more restraints well i think we need to make a rule these kids don't have a cell phone i think we need to teach them to fear the lord because quite honestly if your child doesn't fear the lord or let me just tell the parents if you don't fear the lord i can't have enough standards to get you in the choir to keep you living right if you don't fear the lord my god i just felt the holy ghost move through here i just felt the holy ghost move through here huh well you need to make some standards and you need to do this we have them you may be seated we have them well you need to do this no we need to teach our kids the fear of the lord so that they'll be when they come up on fornication or they come up on being tempted and they're all going to be tempted because they're all flesh but they're going to know what to do with the temptation when the devil's telling them everybody's doing it when the devil's telling them oh you won't get caught when the devil's telling them you could go this far but not that far when the devil's telling them all that all of a sudden they've got the word in their heart they've got the conviction in their heart and they're sitting back saying no i'm not going to do that i i'm not listen you keep your hand off my knee you keep your hand off the side of my breast you keep your hand you no no i'm not i'm not going to look at this on my phone i'm going to get this trash off my phone i i know i'm not going to do this because i want the lord to move into my life i want them to be a part of my life verse 2 verse 19 because that when because that which may be known of god is manifest in them for god has showed it unto them for the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things which are made even as eternal power and godhead so that they are without excuse because that when they knew god they glorified him not as god neither were thankful but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened professing themselves to be wise they became fools changed the glory of the uncorruptable god into an image made likened to corruptable man and birds and four-footed beasts and creeping things wherefore god also gave them up to unl god also gave them up to uncleanness god also gave them up to uncleanness sounds like a god forbid moment you see we got this little god chasing us around we got this little god chasing us in the world oh please come out of the bar and talk to me oh please come out of here and talk to me oh please turn your your television off and talk to me oh please oh please stop this foolishness stop this pornography come on please stop this and come ahead no there is a god that somewhere says if that's what you want we need more of this preaching i'll be the ambulance driver to bring a bring a shot of mercy and grace to your life but i'd like to be the guardrail builder that simply says don't do it people don't live happily ever after who changed wherefore god also gave them up to uncleanness god gave them up to uncleanness through the lust of their own bodies to dishonor their own what are we talking about tonight what are we talking about tonight to dishonor their own bodies between themselves who changed the truth of god into a lie and worshiped and served the creature more than the creator who is blessed forever amen for this cause god gave them up i'm gonna i want you to say it god gave them up say it again god gave them up unto vile affections for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature and likewise also men leaving the natural use of the woman you see i want you to know how we got here because i've got a culture telling you people are born this way no man got here sexual perversion this is how it got here likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust one toward another men with men working that which is unseemingly and receiving in themselves that recompense that's a pay receiving that recompense that's wages receiving that recompense of their error which was meat one man one woman produced children one man one woman produced peace and happiness two men two women produce sexual diseases that the north america continent is littered with their graves tonight because of the way that they live because the wages of sin is death not life verse 28 even as they did not like to retain god in their knowledge take them ten commandments down on that wall take them manger scenes off of the courthouse square take prayer at a school take take god take crosses off of off of hillsides take crosses off of soldier's grave we don't want to look at it any longer we don't we don't want to be reminded we don't want to be reminded of that look at this verse real close and even as they did not like to retain god in their knowledge god says is that right you don't want to think about me i'll just give you a mind that's that doesn't have the ability to think about me you know one thing about me see see well i think i got everybody's attention tonight because it's been a long time since you heard this jesus preached you don't want to think a holy city do you really think unholy people are going to meet a holy god and want to live hey whatever part of holiness it is if it's what you put on or if it's the attitude that you have you ought to thank your god when the man gets up don't get nervous oh lord he's talking about holiness he he's talking about and i i just think he's gonna offend somebody here you know who i really offend i really offend a backslidden saint of god that doesn't love holiness let that sinner decide for themselves whether they want to live it or not and don't you get no don't oh there they go again oh i'm just so oh i just feel so bad tonight sister so-and-so's here and brother so-and-so's here and you know they've they fornicated and they're trying to live for god and i just hate that they're hearing this tonight really oh lord i told somebody to be watching online and i ooh i wish they wouldn't watch it you wimp can i tell you what somebody that has fornicated and has got back in the grace of god they're sitting there now tonight and they're saying preach it brother carpenter preach it brother carpenter oh i wish i'd have had this oh i wish i wish i'd had somebody tell me this that's what they're saying they're saying oh i wish i'd been in i wish i'd had somebody talk to me you don't want to think about god you better be real careful with this even as they did not like to retain god in their knowledge god gave them over to a reprobate mind there you go to do those things which are not convenient hey stop believing that it's hard to be in the church and easy to be in the world it's the other way around the ways of a transgressor god gave them up to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient being filled with all unrighteousness and what's that next word fornication wickedness covetousness maliciousness full of envy murder debate deceit malignity whispers backbiters haters of god despisers proud boasters inventor of evil things disobedient to parents without understanding covenant breakers without natural affection implacable unmerciful who knowing the judgments of god that they which commit such things are worthy have you ever heard them say i know this will send me to hell no you don't really know that uh you know you don't really know that i know this is not right no you don't really know that because if you really thought it would send you to hell it stopped because who in their right mind would want to go to hell who knowing the judgment of god that they which commit such things are worthy of death not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them would any of you open your home up tonight if somebody called you and said hey you you got a spare bedroom and uh um me and my secretary's got something going in could we use your bedroom tonight your spare bedroom i'm going to sleep with i want to sleep with her you handle my teeth no heavens no why do we bring in our homes by way of television well i know bill carpenter no no no no no my soap operas they don't get unclothed really they're acting it out and that's what we call pleasure i say to you the entertainment industry if we allow it to go unchecked in our lives will cause us to laugh at what we should weep over it'll glorify all these can i tell you something years ago hollywood knew it and they did it there was an innocent little movie about mayberry and several characters about mayberry number one when you really study when you really study andy out and you really study otis out otis was a town uh for the after otis was a town drunk and guess what we got to do with him we got to laugh at him because he would stagger into the jail when he was drunk and pick up the key knew where the key was and he would be drunk i promise you tonight if there's a young person here that's got an alcoholic father a mother they would walk up here and say there's nothing funny about it there's nothing funny about coming home and not knowing what i'll come home to come on first apostolic church let us ask god tonight to help us we have got to maintain a spiritual structure we have got to be strong against sexual immorality we have got i'm putting out a clarion call tonight we have got to guard ourselves we don't need to be bringing things into our home we don't need to be bringing nudity talk that inflames our emotions get that junk out of your lives what would be better there's nothing any more enjoyable than not being able to share my wife and i share that we sure did like that movie we sure we had to turn our heads a few times and and when we had we we kind of had to turn our heads away but boy didn't we like that no no what's enjoyable is for her to come out of the bedroom with a bible in her hand and say honey i gotta share with you something i read right here in the word of god let me share with you something right here in the word of god can i tell you that that's what marriages need to be built on you'll never have a
