Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

All together tonight: something in the shout, and teaching the ordinances

  • There's got to be something in the shout: when we shout we tell a weary, worn spirit it is time to wake up, and we put our emotions on another station — come on, church, let's lift up a shout in this house.
  • The plan was for the classes to break out tonight by age group, each teacher teaching their group on communion and foot washing; but in a prayer time on Monday he felt a gentle tap of the Holy Ghost: you need to do this — the young and the old need to do this together.
  • Our children need to know what foot washing is and what communion is; a child raised Apostolic who had to ask 'what's that?' when tongues and interpretation went forth is a sad indictment.
  • Tonight he plans to wash his son's feet and his son-in-law's feet, and wants the grandchildren to understand what we're doing — passing something down from generation to generation.

The institution at the Passover table: Matthew 26

  • They were eating the Passover — the several-hundred-year observance of the night Israel came out of Egypt, eating the lamb, the unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine — when Jesus stopped the celebration and took a piece of the unleavened bread.
  • The leaven represents the nature of sin, for it affects the entire lump; the unleavened bread represents his body, for he knew no sin — he became sin, but he never committed sin.
  • 'Take, eat; this is my body' is symbolism: at no time does the unleavened bread literally become his body; eating it is a reminder of what Jesus Christ did for us to purchase our salvation.
  • The cup is 'my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins' — remission meaning the removal of those sins.
  • He said this was the last time he would have this meal with them on earth; the next time will be in his Father's kingdom — the marriage supper of the Lamb.
  • Is it a salvation issue — will I be lost if I don't do this? Get beyond heaven-or-hell and into the real question: if you are saved and in a right relationship with God, why would you not want to do it — does it please God?

Scriptures: Matthew 26:26-30

Paul received it by revelation: 1 Corinthians 11 and the unworthy manner

  • The apostle Paul was not in that room that night — he was not even converted; what he received, he received by direct revelation of the Spirit of God in Arabia, boasting in Galatians that he was not taught it by man and did not confer with flesh and blood, and when he later went up to Jerusalem and compared what he had with Peter and the apostles, they were eye to eye.
  • 'For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.'
  • After the same manner also he took the cup: 'This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.'
  • As oft as ye do it leaves the frequency to the church — weekly, monthly, yearly are all right; his own wisdom is that weekly it would become common, though God has sometimes laid it on his heart in the middle of the year.
  • 'For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come' — tonight we go backward to remember the past and build our faith, and forward, because the Lord will come again: get ready and stay ready.
  • Unworthily is a manner, not a feeling: if you ever feel worthy to take something from God, you are not — none of us will ever reach that standard, and that is why he had to come; it means eating and drinking without discerning, without appreciating the things of God.
  • 'But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup' — for he that eats and drinks unworthily eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body; 'for this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep': not appreciating the things of God leaves people spiritually weak, spiritually sickly and spiritually asleep.

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 11:23-30; Galatians (book-only, as spoken)

What he suffered: the scourging, the shame, and the pierced side

  • Then he released the prisoner unto them, and when he had scourged Jesus — with the cat of nine tails, nine leather belts tipped with rock, stone, glass and metal, designed to cut the literal flesh from the body — he delivered him to be crucified.
  • The soldiers of the governor took him into the common hall, stripped him, put a scarlet robe on him, platted a crown of thorns on his head and a reed in his right hand, and bowed the knee before him, mocking him as King of the Jews.
  • The Creator allowed himself to be stripped naked and humiliated before an army of men whose breath he could have taken in an instant — so do not dare hide your faith over what you listen to, what you talk about, or what you put on.
  • They mocked him, blindfolded and smote him, and spat on him — one of the most degrading things one human can do to another; put what you are going through beside what he went through and it is absolutely nothing — square your shoulders and thank God you have been counted worthy to be persecuted for the name.
  • When they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs, but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water — that the scripture might be fulfilled: 'A bone of him shall not be broken,' and again, 'They shall look on him whom they have pierced.'
  • He refused the sedative they offered him on the sponge — he wanted to feel every bit of the pain for you, so that when you go through pain that is nothing like his, you know he has already been there for you and made a way of resurrection.

Scriptures: Matthew 27:26-30; John 19:33-37

Isaiah 53: the only cure for the fatal disease of sin

  • 'Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?' — he is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid as it were our faces from him.
  • 'Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows... he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.'
  • 'All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all' — he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him, and by his knowledge shall the righteous servant justify many.
  • We are all born with the most fatal disease ever known to man — the disease called sin — and there is no cure for it in good works, entertainment or money; the only cure is what those twelve verses just read.
  • James tells us how dreadful the disease is: 'But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death' — lust, sin and death.
  • There is no neutral zone: when you die you end up in one of two places, heaven or hell, and a good man who does not embrace Jesus Christ is not going to heaven.
  • 'But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die'; and 'it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment' — we all have an appointment, and we had better go to it with the blood applied and a relationship.
  • 'Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell' — young people, get victory over peer pressure now; you will not stand before your youth group to give an account, but before your God.
  • Hard preaching does not turn the world off: his former next-door neighbor came to church Sunday and texted his thanks for a preacher who preaches the gospel with boldness and without apology — and gladly accepted the offer for the pastor and his wife to come to the hospital, anoint his sick wife with oil and pray the prayer of faith.

Scriptures: Isaiah 53:1-12; James 1:14-15; Genesis 2:17; Hebrews 9:27; Matthew 10:28

Foot washing: the new commandment — love one another, serve one another

  • 'A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another' — and 'By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another': it is the greatest evangelistic tool the church has, because the world is eavesdropping on how we treat each other at restaurants and on the job.
  • In his home, growing up, his son was never allowed to say 'I can't stand that person' — you can have your services, your tithes and your heritage all down, but if there is somebody you can't stand, you need to pray through; Jesus died for the people he couldn't stand.
  • 'For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another' — that is what foot washing is tonight: not dirty feet, but a symbol of serving one another.
  • Even the greeting of 1 Thessalonians 3 preaches one God — 'Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you' cannot be three separate persons, or with the Holy Ghost you'd have four; the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, 'to the end he may stablish your hearts unblamable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.'
  • Love starts at the church and then goes out to the world — you cannot love a world if you don't love the church — and the lesson closed in the prayer of examination: search my heart, Lord, for anything said or done amiss, any cynical or negative spirit, any bitterness held against man or woman, before we take the elements together.

warn tonight why don't you give him a shout of Praise right now oh yes yes yes yes yes yes somebody say yes oh somebody one time gave me a NE G they gave me a message but they were a little negative in how they gave it to me because they thought I put too much on shouting and the message came through the person said preacher it's not all in the shout oh well I agree with that but I got inspired to preach there's got to be something in the shout if it's not all in the shout and I understand that then there there got to be something in the shout you know I believe when we shout I believe that we tell a weary worn spirit it's time to wake up I believe when we shout we're telling our emotions hey I need to put you on another station right now because I don't like this mood that we're in I don't I don't like this drab mood that we're in I'm going to lift up a shout tonight come on Church let's lift up a shout in this house let's lift up a shout oh hallelujah hallelujah Hallelujah Lord I praise you tonight I praise you tonight God go with me in your Bibles to the Book of Matthew chapter 26 chapter number 26 and verse number 26 Matthew chapter 26 in verse number 26 and um I had a I had a change of schedule had a change of schedule I had um I had a plan that I wanted the classes to break out out tonight and let each teacher Let each teacher uh teach the different age groups on communion and foot washing and I thought you know that would be a that would be a good um that would be a good thing and each class and that's way it was going to go until about Monday in one of the prayer times I felt a gentle tap of the Holy Ghost on my shoulder that said you need to do this and teach the children The Young and the old need to do this together The Young and the old need to do this together so I plan tonight after communion I plan when we're washing feet when the men I believe the men are in here correct and the women are in the U The Event Center uh I plan tonight to u to wash my son's feet I plan to wash my son-in-law's feet tonight and at my grandson Sons understand what we're doing I want to wash their feet because I'm telling you I want to pass something down to generation after generation after generation one of the saddest things that I I heard with my own ears was a a young child whose Grandparents were Apostolic parents were Apostolic and the child was being brought up Apostolic to be in a church service and there was tongues and interpretation went forth and evidently that child although raised Apostolic had never been never heard tongues interpretation and for that young child to look over and say what's that I think is a sad indictment I think it's a sad indictment our our children need to know what foot washing is they they need to know what communion is and it plays a vital role so I did feel so we're all going to stand here tonight we're not going to break out in into the different classes we're we're going to stay in here and I want to teach for a few moments on communion Matthew 26:26 and as they were eating Jesus Took bread and blessed it and break it and gave it to the disciples and said take eat this is my body and he took the cup and gave thanks and gave it to them saying drink ye all of it for this is my blood of the new testament which is shed for many for the remission of sins but I say unto you I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my father's Kingdom and when they had sung A Hymn they went out they went out into the mount into the Mount of Olives communion 2024 God first father I ask you tonight Lord to anoint my heart anoint my mouth help me to articulate the words God help me Lord to minister your word Lord to your people tonight God these are the people of which you shed your blood for God open our minds and our hearts God as we walk in obedience to your word we'll give you the praise and we'll give you the honor and the glory in Jesus name we pray amen and amen you may be seated the reading the past pass over they were eating of the Passover dinner the Passover was a several hundred year observance of the night that they had came out of Egypt they were eating of the Lamb they were eating of the unleavened bread and they were drinking of the fruit of the vine it was the Passover it was the celebration of the nation of Israel it's in the midst of that celebration that Jesus stopped and he took a piece of unleavened bread now the reason the unleavened bread is important is because they left Egypt that night in such a hurry that the bread that they took with them had not had the yeast or the leaven added to it that would cause it to rise the leaven the yeast as it affects the entire lump of the dough it represents the nature the nature of sin and of course when Christ took the bread the unleavened bread which would represent his body his body which Christ knew no sin he was sinless he became sin but he never committed sin he took upon Him sin so his body would be represented as a symbol by the unleavened by the unleavened bread he took and he gave them he first he blessed it and he gave it to the disciples and he he made a rather strange statement he said take this and eat this is my body this is my body that will be broken for you and of course tonight without spending too much of our time telling you that it's an understanding that it was simply symbolism here it wasn't literally his body and at no time does the unleavened bread ever become the body of Christ this eating of the unleavened bread to the disciples in the years to come and even the year of 2024 is simply a reminder to you and I what Jesus Christ did for us to purchase our Salvation he then took the cup which had the fruit of the vine and he told them to drink all of the cup where he said this is my blood again this is symbolism this is my blood in the New Testament which is shed for many for the remission or the removal the removal of these sins and then he made this statement he said this is the last time that I'm going to have this meal with you here on this Earth he said the next time that we have this meal the next time that we partake of the unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine the next time we do it it will be in my father's Kingdom in Heaven of which that is the marriage supper the marriage supper of the lamb and so he gave them he gave them this and they followed along they followed along throughout the Book of Acts we find the early church we find the early church having communion now what's really important tonight and and to lay importance upon this because sometimes when we have communion and foot washing with without fail I will either have someone walk up to me and ask me this question or I'll have someone uh an anonymous person uh leave a note on my Pew and it'll say something like this is it a Salvation issue to do this will I be lost if I don't do this well my answer simply is this if you are saved why would you not want to do it can you tell me one reason why you would not want to go through a a symbol celebration that would remind us of his body that was broken and his blood that was shed how could someone ask is it a heaven or hell issue you see when you really get salvation and a relationship with God in your heart you get Beyond is it heaven or hell and you get into does it please God right and and so answering the heaven or hell issue is not going to come from me tonight I'm simply going to tell you if you're in a right relationship with God why wouldn't you want to do this and I think there's a lot of people here tonight obviously that's a sign that you want that you want to do this but we're talking about those you know we're talking about those in another state tonight right we're talk talk about those in another country one of the things in in in um mother Tharp one of the things many years ago as a younger Pastor as I studied out communion and foot washing I studied it out for my own um and one of the things that really sold me on how important communion is is the fact that the Apostle Paul was not in that room that night and heard Jesus teach on this is my body that is broken for you this is my blood that was shed for you this do in remembrance of of me he wasn't there that night as a matter of fact Church Paul wasn't even converted at that time Paul's conversion writer of over half the New Testament Bible Paul's conversion would come many years later many years later would Paul's conversion come when Paul was converted it's interesting Paul said seems to like to boast in this that after he was converted he had the Damascus Road experience and he was baptized after that he went into the desert of Arabia he went into Solitude and there in the book of Galatians Paul begins to boast that what he received of God he received by Revelation he uses the word in Galatians God chose to reveal himself in me and he says I was not taught this by man I didn't confer with flesh and blood in other words he's saying what I received I received it just like John the Revelator uh there wasn't a board of preachers that taught John the Revelator on the aisle of patmas right John received what he did by direct Revelation by the spirit of God so in that the apostle the apostles that were there was listening to God in flesh tell them this is my body this is my blood this do in remembrance of me Paul received it by direct revelation of the spirit of God he later said about he later said some years later I went up to Jerusalem and compared what I had with Peter and the of the Apostles and and we were eye to eye on what we had received Paul was not taught by Jesus Christ God in flesh Paul was taught by the God that was in Christ you understand what I'm saying tonight so if he was taught that if he was taught that turn with me now to the book of First Corinthians chapter 11 and verse 23 here is a man that wasn't in the room that night here here is a man that got everything that he got by a revelation of God 1 Corinthians 11:23 listen to Paul for I have received of the Lord that which I also delivered unto you that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread wait a minute Paul you wasn't in the room oh he got it I've got it I've got the answer to that I know how Paul found out about it Peter told him about it that's not what Paul says here Paul doesn't say I got this from Peter or John or Matthew or any of the rest of the 12 Paul says would you look at it again very closely for I have received of the say that word with me of the Lord the lord gave this to me I have received of the Lord that which I delivered unto you that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread when he had given thanks he broke it and said take eat this is my body which is broken for you this do in remembrance of me after the same manner also he took the cup and when he had s saying this cup is the New Testament in my blood again this do ye as of as you drink it in remembrance of me now let me stop here and just kind of help us out a little bit there's some Churches that take communion every week all right there's some churches that take communion every month there's some churches that take communion once a year well who's right they all are they all are because God just simply gave Paul and said as of as you do this now it would be my wisdom tonight and M alone that doing it weekly it would become common it would just become common I think when he gave us the leadway here as of as you as you do it as of as you do it I believe it being set apart a year and there are sometimes let me say this I don't want to tie myself down to a year because there has been times in the history of fac miral that God has laid on my heart in the middle of the year to say hey have communion gather the church together and have communion so he said as as of as you do this look at that word as of as you do this as of as you eat this bread and drink this verse 25 uh after the same manner also he took the cup and when he had up saying this cup is the New Testament my blood this do ye as often as you drink it in remembrance of me for as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you do show the Lord's death till he come now look at this now what are we doing tonight we're going back and we're going forward we're celebrating tonight we're remembering what the Lord did for us in the past to build our faith to know what he's going to do for us in the future Church the Lord will come again the Lord will come again you got to wake yourself and Shake yourself and you got to live you know it's it's time to get ready and stay ready because the Lord is will the Lord will come again and he says I want you to do this for you do show the Lord's death till he come and then this is where some get tripped up wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord and here's where a lot of folks stand back and say I'm not going to take communion cuz I don't feel worthy if you ever feel worthy you're not worthy well I'm right no you're not you're rotten if you ever feel like you're worthy to take something from God you're not worthy there's none of us that will ever reach the standard of being worthy that's why he had to come because there's no way we could be worthy now what that means is an unworthy man manner it means to take this and not understand and and really be um not in the reverent spirit that you ought to be in not appreciating the things of God folks we ought to all appreciate the things of God we shouldn't take anything for common we ought to appreciate a God that would save us we ought to appreciate a God that said I'll love you so much that I'll have a plan we ought to appreciate the things of God we ought to appreciate the spirit of God we ought to appreciate the things of God we ought to appreciate our Bibles we ought to appreciate the Holy Ghost we ought to appreciate our brothers and sisters now we're going to get to that in a moment foot washing we ought to appreciate one another tonight we ought to appreciate the things of God we want to appreciate these things value these things see that word unworthily if you break it down the word worth is there don't you know he's worth it don't you know he's worth it don't you know it's worth living for God he is worth living for God do you put your worth he is worth what we're doing tonight we're not a bunch of religious Fanatics tonight he is worth what we are doing tonight he is worthy he is enough but if you don't discern the body of Christ if you don't discern the things that God has done for you although it's possible for you to be born again and I preached the message several years ago and I may get it out and preach it again I preached a message entitled born again but not converted there's some people that can get the Holy Ghost and get baptized but never go on and get converted and I not only want to get born again I want to be converted I want to be changed I want to be a different man I want to Value the things of God God I love you tonight I owe him praise that's why I'm going to praise him whether I feel like it or not your great-grandfather brother Hammond used to say there's two times to praise God when you feel like it and when you don't he had another saying too your great-grandfather had another saying he said it's going to be all right in the end and somebody said well it ain't all right he' say it ain't the end yet but it's going to be all right it's going to be all right in the end I appreciate appreciate God tonight he's going to get my emotions more than anything else in this world he's going to get my praise when I come into his house you don't have to sing my favorite song you don't have to have my favorite Pew and it don't even have to be my favorite preacher preaching I'm going to give him some praise tonight cuz look up here you're looking at one 5 foot 7 inch greeneyed preacher that loves God and I want to tell him every time I come to the house God you're worthy you're worthy of everything that I can give you God Lord I may be sick but you're worthy God I may be upside down but you're worthy God you are worthy of that praise but if you don't know how I appreciate the things of God I'm sorry to tell you this things are not going to get good for you because in verse 27 it says wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord but let a man examine himself and so let let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup for he that eateth and drinketh unworthily you don't appreciate what God's done for you you don't appreciate you have more emotions to the things of this world you have more desire to please the world than you do the than you do God that's something else we could ask ourselves tonight who has influence over you who has influence over you I believe who has influence over you can be manifested in a number of ways the music we listen to the friends we keep well I don't like them why don't you like them because they they're always telling me the truth well that's a sorry reason not to like somebody you tell who's influencing you by the music you listen to the entertainment the people you run with you can also tell who's influencing you by the clothes you wear some folks Hollywood's influencing them they wouldn't care about modesty and what God thinks about them all they think about is how the world will give them a hand clap and admire what they got on or in many cases what they don't have on he said you eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily you'll be guilty of the body and the blood you don't discern what God has done for you but let a man examine himself and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup for he that eateth and drinketh unworthily verse 29 eateth and drinketh Damnation to himself not Discerning the Lord's body verse 30 for this cause what cause not Discerning the Lord's body for this cause what cause not appreciating what God has done for you for this cause not appreciating the things that God has given you for this cause many are weak many are sickly and many among you and many sleep now that's all spiritual application we don't appreciate the things of God we are spiritually weak we don't appreciate the spirit of God we are spiritually sickly we don't appreciate the things of God we are spiritually asleep I don't want to be any of the above I don't want to be any of the above but if you would tonight just for a few moments let's go to Matthew 27:26 Matthew 27:26 is going to take us through a familiar story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and I gave them some um some some uh photos to put up on the screen and they can begin to run them as they see me going through the scripture then released he barabus unto them and when he had scourged Jesus he delivered him to be crucified IED the scourging happened with the cat of Nine tals the cat of nine tals had nine separate leather belts attached to it at the end of each leather belt was tied Rock Stone Glass and Metal they took and they would take the person and tie their hands and pull them over a cross beam and there they would lift them up until their toes barely would touch the pavement and there in a methodical way they would whip him with the cat of nine tals this way and then hand it to a Roman soldier and he would whip him this way the whipping was designed to cut the literal flesh from off the body it is believed that possibly that the Flesh on Jesus back was so torn that you could have possibly seen muscle and S you down the back back of Jesus Christ you tell me we can't serve him tonight you tell me tonight a price is too high for something that God would ask us to do and I'll tell you when I'm reminded of what he did for me there's no way that I could tell you that anything would be too of a high of a price to give to God oh a little raising of the hand that's too much a little lifting I know we're all tired I know it's in the evening but you're telling me that a little lifting up of your voice would be a price too too big or too much for what he has done what he has done for you come on right now Shake yourself tonight you don't want to get sick you don't want to be spiritually weak oh you're going to need to pray a demon out of your house sometime you're going to need to pray a spirit off Somebody Sometime you you need to have a strong vibrant Spirit they scourged him they delivered him to be crucified then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common Hall and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers and they stripped him and put on him a Scarlet a Scarlet robe listen to me tonight tonight anybody that battles with living for God and you battle the Temptation that you're afraid to be public with your faith because you're ashamed of it he said if you are ashamed of me I'll be ashamed of you but let's talk about shame let's talk about shame for a moment the God our creator allowed himself to be stripped naked before an army of men a God that could have instantly taken the breath from these soldiers a God that could have instantly caused every Soldier to have a massive heart attack and he could have walked out of that room allowed them to strip him naked there and he suffered humiliation and he suffered shame and you're telling me that I'm going to DARE think for one moment that I'm going to hide my faith in God by what I listen to and by what I talk about and what I may put on or not put on I say First Apostolic Church 1,000 times no I say he's done too much for you and I for us to ever battle being ashamed and if you're battling that tonight it's all because you don't know him they stripped him and put on him a Scarlet robe when they had platted a crown of thorns they put it up on his head and a re in his right hand and they bowed the knee before him and mocked him saying Hell King of the Jews oh my friend little Caron I'm gonna get out of the choir I I just can't live up to the I just can't live up to they called me a Holy Roller at school they mocked me at school they called me Pentecostal at school they called me tongue talker on the job and all of this oh was that right right you know what they did to Jesus they dressed him up like a king put a reed in his hand and a and a robe on him they took him and they begin to beat him on the side of the face they begin to mock him they were there in that room saying oh hell King of the Jews oh look at the king here they blindfolded him and be to smack him on the side of the face and said if you're the Son of God prophesy who it is is smiting you they begin to walk by and do one of the most deg degrading things that one human can do to another one of the most degrading things one human can do to another is to spit on them they walk by and they begin to spit on him listen you can call me a Holy Roller and I often say this I am not a Holy Roller if you don't go to church on Sunday You're the Holy Roller you get up on the holy day and roll over and go back to bed I get up and go to the house of God you can call me Holy Roller you can call me tongue talker you can call me Jesus only you you call me whatever it is but when I put what I'm going through beside what he went through it is nothing you hear me it is absolutely nothing as a matter of fact when we are persecuted for the way we preach and for the way we teach and we're persecuted for the way we live you know what we need to do is not put our head down we need to square our shoulders back and say thank God I've counted worthy to be persecuted for the name oh come on somebody praise him with me in this house tonight they mocked him they mocked him let's go to John 19:33 John 19:33 but when they came to Jesus he's hanging on a cross now he's been crucified when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already they break not his legs but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side and forth with came there out blood and water and he that saw it bear record and his record is true and he knoweth that he saith it true that ye might believe for these things were done that the scripture might be fulfilled should be fulfilled a bone of him should not be broken and again another scripture say they shall look on him whom they have pierced why why did he go through all that why'd he go through all that he went through the agonizing the shame the pain that he went through they tried Church the Romans had a little bit of a heart they had a sedative there at the cross that they would give the criminals sentenced to die it was a sedative it numbed them it was in water it was on a sponge and when Jesus when they nailed him to the cross and they took the sponge to his mouth and when he tasted it he turned his face away he turned his face away I know what this is this is a sedative this is to this is to low me into a sleep but I believe he was saying to you and I tonight 2024 I want to feel every bit of the pain for you so that when you go through pain that is nothing like I've went through I want you to know I've already been there for you for you and I've already made a way of Resurrection don't judge me here there is a resurrection that's coming three days later but let me go further than that we know there's a resurrection but let me go further than that wake yourself up there is a soon return of Jesus Christ to this earth do you know him are you ready to hear him why did he do it why did he do it the Old Testament Isaiah I met a precious young man tonight was here for the bible study this is that I met a precious young man introduced himself as Isaiah I said it's a Bible name Isaiah 53 and verse one follow along with me Isaiah 53 and 1 who hath believed our report and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed it's all prophecy of Jesus Christ he shall grow up before him as a tender your plant and as a root out of dry ground he hath no form nor cless and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him he is despised and rejected of men a Man of Sorrows and acquainted with grief we we hid as it were our faces from him he was despised and we esteemed him not surely he hath borne our griefs he hath borne our griefs notice he didn't bear his griefs he bore our our griefs he is despised he's rejected of man A Man of Sorrows acquainted with grief we hid as it were our faces from him he was despised and we esteemed him not surely he hath borne our griefs and carried would you say this word with me and carried Sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken smitten of God and Afflicted but he was wounded for he was wounded for he was bruised for the chastisement of Peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed all all we like sheep have gone astray we have turned everyone to his own way and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all he was oppressed he was afflicted yet he opened not his mouth he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before his shears is dumb so he opened not his mouth he was taken from prison and from judgment and who shall declare his generation he was cut off out of the land of the living giving for the transgression of my people was he stricken he made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death because he had done no violence neither was there deceit in his mouth yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him he ha put him to grief when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin he shall see his seed he shall prolong his days and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand he shall see the TR of his soul and shall be satisfied by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many for he shall bear their iniquities therefore will I divide him a portion with the great and he shall divide the spoil with the strong because Heath poured out his soul unto death and was numbered with the transgressors and bear the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors let me tell you something we're all born with a fatal disease we're all born with the most fatal disease ever known to man and there's only one cure we're all born with that fatal disease called sin we're all born with that fatal disease called sin and there is nothing there is no good works there is no amount of entertainment or money that can cure the disease of sin the only thing that has conquered sin is what I just read to you in 12 verses in the 53rd chapter of Isaiah it was the Lord that took our iniquities it was the Lord that took our griefs you want to get under you want to get over sin stop trying to do it on your own and give it to God you want to break habits you want to break out you want to be free from sin and start growing in the grace of Jesus Christ give it to him he's the only only he's the only cure for this dreaded disease called sin well how dreaded is this disease preacher tell me tonight how bad is this disease well James in the New Testament James chapter 1 and verse number 14 James tells us how dreaded this disease is but every man is tempted when he has drawn away of his own lust and enti listen to it now then when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin and When sin and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death it's the original LSD it's the original LSD lust sin and death and I don't care how pretty you go to funerals and I don't care what's spoken necessarily over the deceased that person that person if they're not in the relationship they need to be with God is not in heaven but not in heaven when you die and when I die I'm ending up in one of two places there's not a neutral zone there's not an oven I'm in one of two places I'm either in heaven or I'm in hell and the only thing that'll get me in heaven is the only way the way the only truth the truth thy only door the door well brother Carman what if a man's a good man but he just doesn't Embrace Jesus Christ he's not going to heaven he's not going to heaven you hear me tonight we've got to understand something Church there's only one of two places you're going to end up and it's either heaven or it's hell and we need to shake ourselves tonight and we need to make sure that we have given our lives to the only one that has conquered death hell and the grave and it is the finished work of Jesus Christ oh love him tonight love him tonight church love him tonight love him tonight run run my cell phone up to me real quick somebody run it up to me real quick cuz I got a feeling I'm picking up some Vibes tonight oh friend oh we ain't never going to get people to come in this church with you preaching like that man with you preaching with you preaching like that we ain't never going to get in we never man you preaching like that brother Carpenter we Ain never going to get in church we're never going to get let me give you my former nextdoor neighbor came to church Sunday my former nextdoor neighbor come to church Sunday and this morning he sent me this text he said pastor Kenny it was good to see you and talk to Miss penny Sunday thank you for the warm welcome to your church I felt very privileged many of your members made a point to welcome me I was impressed I could feel the I could feel God's spirit throughout the service be from the beginning to the end I enjoyed your sermon as well does me good to know that you're a preacher that preaches the gospel with boldness and without apology God's word needs to be preached in every Church Church like that but it isn't in so many today I'd like to ask you to pray prayers for Robin she became ill and he goes into the sickness of his wife and I sent him I sent him another note I said Ronnie thank you for your message thank you for your text thank you so much and please let Robin know I know y'all got a pastor in the church but please know that my wife and I would be privileged and available to come to the hospital but we believe in James 5:14 through you really told him that we believe in the anointing of oil and we would be privileged if Robin would like for Penny n to come we'll come and anoint her with a little oil on her head and we'll pray the prayer of faith well you just turned him off you just turned him off here's his answer that would be great I think sometime tomorrow would be good if you're available we're in room and I'll keep that silent in the hospital can I tell you something folks I think what happen it's carnal apostolics who get offended at hard preaching and not a world that's looking for a difference I'm not here to pacify as a matter of fact I am here to afflict the comfortable and to comfort The Afflicted I I am here tonight to tell you Church Get Ready Get Ready Get Ready the Lord is coming the Lord is coming Genesis 21:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil Thou shalt not eat for in the day that thou eatest thereof Thou shalt surely die Hebrews 9:27 as it is appointed unto men once to die but after death the Judgment after this the Judgment can I tell you all of us has got an appointment and after that appointment is a judgment and you better go to that appointment with the blood applied to your life you better go with a relationship and I need to go past some scriptures I know I know that I've given you tonight but let me let me turn the corner with this Jesus Christ said these words in Matthew 10:28 he said fear not them which kill the body but are not able to kill the soul but rather feel him fear him which is able to destroy both soul and Body in hell I'm telling you that sometimes people are fearing the wrong thing young people fear peer pressure oh if I really worship God like I want to worship God my buddies might think I'm weird you better get victory over that because that'll go with you in your early 20s and in your 30s and it'll go with you all through life you need to learn not to fear what the world says don't it bother you I I told you my wife woke me up from a good dead melatonin sleep here a while back induced sleep and she said Kenny I said what she said don't it bother you what people are saying about you you I said no no can I tell you that you can't be bothered by the lies from hell that are told about you because all it is is a distraction to try to get you over here yaking I got too much to preach about the goodness of God to get distracted by anything else in this world you've got a God that you're G you're not going to stand if you die tonight young man if you die tonight young lady you're not going to stand before your youth group and give an account you're going to stand before your God and give an account if you die tonight you're not going to stand before your office people and give an account foot washing foot washing foot washing John 13:34 Jesus said a new commandment I give to you that you love one another as I have loved you that you also love one another John 13:35 let's all read this together let's all read this together by this shall all men know and my disciples what if you have what folks let's love one another it's the greatest Evangelistic tool the church has is for the world to look at a church and know that we love each other how we treat each other in a restaurant how we talk about each other on our job we got a we got a world ease dropping on us we got a world we got people in the other cubicle that are hearing what we're saying about this and about that ohmighty God let's love one another it's the 11th commandment of God a new commandment I've given you that we love one another let's love one another and I know tonight there's Grins and all of that going on folks I'm dead serious we need to love one another let me tell you Nolan was talking to me the other day and he said dad I was brought up in a home that you and mother never allowed me regardless to how upset I got it people I was never allowed to say I can't stand that person I can't stand that person I don't like that person can I tell you what if that issues out of your mouth you need to pray through because you don't have what you need to have you can have your skirt the right length and your hair the right length you can have free services down you can have your tithe and offerings down you can have it all down you can have Heritage down but I got news for you if there's people in your life that you're saying I can't stand them you need to pray for them oh God we can't ever have any now there's people that may disle you there's people that you maybe wish had different ways about them but to say you can't stand somebody I I just can't hear Jes can can can c can any of you ever hear Jesus saying I I Peter I just can't stand that that guy he died for the people he couldn't stand go I'm plow tonight ain't it Galatians 5 and 13 for Brethren you have been called into Liberty only use not Liberty for an occasion to the flesh let's all start reading now but what are we to do by how by what serve one another by love serve one another by love and I finish with this first Thessalonians chapter 3 and verse 13 or excuse me 1 Thessalonians 3:1 follow hang on every word that Paul is saying hang on every word now God himself and our father and our Lord Jesus Christ let me stop there for just a second get totally off subject you have people wanting to prove that they're three separate persons in the godhead and they'll go to a lot of the the the the the greetings giving thanks unto God giving thanks unto the father uh of the Lord Jesus Christ and they see there there's there's three and that's not how that reads and if it would be you've got to stay true to the way you interpret scripture seems like we got four now now God himself and our father that's two and our Lord Jesus Christ that would be three and if you throw the Holy Ghost then that make four right but that's not how you interpret that but that's not even the sermon tonight but I couldn't this one God preacher just can't go by this without saying something it's in you when it's in you it's in you how you thank God some things are just in you now God himself and our our father and our Lord Jesus Christ direct our way unto you and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another and toward all men even as we do towards you you know what love starts at the church and then it goes out to the world you can't love a world if you don't love the church you can't love you're a phony you're fake you're never going to get them you're never going to win them because love don't start with you loving a world love starts with us loving one another he didn't say by this shall all men know you're my disciples if you evangelize the world and give to missions he said by this shall all men know you're my disciples if it start in the church if you have loved one to another verse 13 to the end he may establish your hearts unblamable in Holiness before God even our father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all the saints looks like loving one another leads us into stability and love leads us into the end so tonight just a moment we're going to distribute a little container that has just a little bit of unleavened bread just a little bit of unleavened bread and just a little bit of the fruit of the vine and all of us are going to take that together then after that we're going to break out all the women all the women will go to the event center for and sister C will direct you there the men will stay in here and after a time of washing one another's feet and a spirit of being a servant to one another we're going to pray our we're not washing feet tonight because our Feet's dirty or at least I hope not okay we're washing feet tonight as a symbol that we're serving we're serving one another why don't we stand right now and our ushers will begin Distributing they'll begin Distributing the small container and why not as they're Distributing that let's just have a little prayer going on in
