thank you lord thank you lord thank you lord as you're going back your seats tonight what a wonderful joy it is to be lifted up above the shadows of gloom and despair by praise and worship there's nothing like coming to church singing and shouting and praising god some may ask we all shout every service yeah that's because god is good every service some folks serve a christmas tree god they only get him out once a year but we serve a god who's a consistent god he's a faithful god and he is worthy of all our praise he is worthy he is worthy jesus jesus christ is worthy of all of our praise unto him do we give our praise unto him do we sing do we dance do we clap our hands unto jesus tonight the great head of our church the one who shed his blood for us tonight before i read my text could we just give jesus praise right now could we just could we just praise the mighty name of jesus tonight come on let's just praise the mighty name of jesus oh i thank you lord come on he deserves praise tonight i love you jesus i love you jesus two passages of scripture two passages of scripture the book of joel chapter number three the book of joel chapter number three and verse number 14. it's actually one verse that is tucked into the events that will happen at the end of time at the end of time joel under the inspiration of god said multitudes multitudes in the valley of decision in the valley of decision for the day of the lord is near in the valley of decision in the valley of decision go back over with me to the second book of kings the second book of kings chapter number one and verse number one second book of kings chapter 1 and verse 1. then moab rebelled against israel after the death of ahab moab rebelled against israel after the death of ahab for a few moments on this fourth of july evening with an outstanding outstanding congregation that's here i thank you tonight i sincerely thank you tonight i want to preach just for a few moments on decisions decisions decisions would you say that word with me decisions decisions father i love you father i thank you tonight for all of your love that you have showered down upon us father i ask you tonight as i feel that i have a word from you to these people god these are your people god you shed your blood for them and then you gave them the ministry you gave them the word to encourage them to warn them to perfect them oh god tonight i ask you to touch my voice god help me lord to take a few moments tonight and lord just communicate to them your love your mercy your word in jesus name we pray before you're seated worship jesus for a moment just worship jesus worship jesus oh thank you jesus oh thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus decisions you may be seated decisions you know that june june marked the halfway through 2021. we are now living in the second part of 2021. to some they used january 1st to set goals new year's resolutions and etcetera but i've always tried to sometime in the month of june almost like a ball game you know ball games there's been teams that have went in that have went in at halftime there have been teams that have went in at halftime way behind but something happened at halftime the coach got them in at halftime and began to tell them it's what we're doing wrong this is what we've got to watch out for and more and you've got fingers and toes to count has a team come out at halftime and not only did they even the score they won the game and i don't know what the first half of 2021 was playing with you but i just believe there's one little powerful word that everything turns on it's a word called decision decision we study end-time prophet prophecy and the events that will take place prior to prior to the rapture of the church and then the second coming of jesus christ which are two separate events becoming the rapture of the church is one event the second coming of christ is another both of these events both of these events have all kinds of prophecies tethered to them but one word in the event of the coming of the lord to the earth it is summarized that there would be multitudes multitudes in the valley of decision that just prior to jesus return to this earth that there will be those that are in the the process of deciding because he's telling them that multitudes multitudes are in the valley of decision now living for god is not a one-time commitment it's not something that you do uh and walk away living for god is an everyday decision and sometimes it's more than once a day that you make your mind up you decide some things that you're going to do and some things that you're not going to do because as the old blessed song says i have decided to live for jesus i have decided to follow jesus if you've been reading your bible through and i want to really advertise our spiritual growth tracker uh sometimes it hurts to look at it but that's why we need it the spiritual growth tracker that's provided for the church every day tells you a number of scriptures what scriptures to read and if you spend just a few moments a day just a few moments a day by the end of this year you have read the bible through but not only that it has a place there where you mark if you had prayer and you have a place there that you mark if you attended the house of god it's something that you privately look at and that you can understand hey um man i'm doing pretty good or i i need to get back in the game i need to i need to get i need to get back in the i need to get back in the game well last week this second chapter or excuse me this first chapter of the book of second kings was part of our part of our bible reading to read through the bible and when i came to second kings chapter 1 the very first verse hit me real real odd it was as if i i started to read because it's not like an epistle if you would be so kind to put second kings chapter one verse one up it's not like an epistle like uh greetings to all of you that are reading second kings um it's not like that it just starts out then moab rebelled against israel after the death of ahab and as i read the chapter i soon discovered that second kings chapter one with the exception of one situation is nothing more than a series of bad decisions just bad decisions you could you could you know you could just write a sub title over the top of second kings chapter one verse one bad decisions just bad decisions it it all but one situation it's just a chapter of bad decisions the very first verse tells you then moab rebelled against israel after the death of ahab now when you'll study this verse out you'll find out that king david was actually of the lineage david had a little moabite in him oh yes he did because david's great-grandmother ruth got a book named after was a moabite was a moabite as you study bible history you find something interesting church and that is that david was on such good terms with the moabites that when he was having to run for his life from saul who wanted to kill him david was sleeping under trees david was sleeping in caves david was running for his life and all the while he had his blessed mother and father with him and he had some of his his cousins some of some of some of his family was with him and there came a time scripture tells us that david went to the king of moab and he asked the king of moab would you take care of my father would you take care of my aging father would you take care of my mother would you take care of my family of which the king moab accepted but then something terrible happened and the only explanation that we've got because years later david would attack moab and not only attack moab he would attacked moab with a vengeance as a matter of fact matter of fact the very way david had this battle is unlike david david would beat you now don't don't get me wrong david would beat you but he would be civil about it david david would go in but david even when david would defeat nations he had a little bit of mercy to him he had he had just a little bit i'm going to defeat you in the name of the lord but he had a little bit of mercy he uh he had a little bit of mercy to him but not when he defeated the moabites why when he defeated the moabites he did a most gruesome thing after he defeated them he lined them all up and he put two-thirds two-thirds of the population in one line he had two thirds they didn't know what was happened there was much they were much like brother erickson they were much like the jews and the holocaust they didn't know what david was doing but david formed two lines scripture says it and in one line he put two-thirds of the population of the land he'd go into a city he'd line him up he had two lines one would have two-thirds the other would have a third and if you fell in the line that had two-thirds they came through and took every life that stood in that line there was no battle that david ever treated that way so cruel they would not only defeat you but he would go in and line line them up and then take their lives and the only explanation that we have is that this was a vengeful killing because there is a little bit of study that reveals that somewhere moab the king of moab to appease the heathen nations around him it was told that he was housing david's father and david's mother and david's family and that the king of moab had been publicly executed and so when david went to take over moab he had a little bit of vengeance he had a little bit of vengeance about him and he was settling the score as a matter of fact church he defeated moab to such a point that he made moab pay him taxes every year a percentage of the grain a percentage of the corn a percentage of the animals a percentage of percentage and moab for years was under a heavy tax to israel but things began to happen solomon took over after his dad after his father david and solomon made the decision because what i want you to see tonight a lot of times what happens to us in a moment is really the decisions that we made yesterday we can get all caught up with trying to fight with moab but we need to find out why moab rebelled we can get all called up that moab rebelled against israel but we need to stop the tape and find out what happened that caused moab to stop feeling like they were servants to israel and to actually rebel well solomon comes on the scene after david solomon just doesn't serve the lord as fervently as david solomon somewhere catch the wording now solomon somewhere decided that you didn't really have to do all of what his father did you do know that it's never recorded one time that solomon ever danced before the lord there's not one time in scripture does it talk about solomon's exuberant worship you know maybe somewhere solomon just felt like that you just really didn't have to do that anymore and so it becomes a decision and can i tell you with every decision that we make that has to do with our love and fervor for god and every decision that we make where we begin to lower our dedication level to him you must understand yesterday's reducing of dedication is the answer for today's power shortage you see the answer is not the question is not why is the church not as powerful as it used to be it's not in the day's service that we have find the answer it's in yesterday's lack of consecration well somehow solomon's son he took over and he was just a little less than what his father solomon solomon was a little less than what his father david and each generation is time ebbed away each generation did less and less and less until they finally came to a day that moab said well israel is not all that big and bad well israel's not all that you know what are we doing bringing our bringing our food and our our gold and our livestock what are we doing being a servant to israel and the bible says there came a year when moab rebelled against israel that moab said no more can you answer to me how in the world we can go with having the enemy under our feet to have any enemy in our face it all is tied back to decisions that we make decisions little decisions little decisions that we make that just lessen just just little decisions that cause us not to exert the spiritual energy and the fervor that we need to just little decisions that we make until we soon begin to feel moab slipping under our feet and what once used to serve us is now in our face challenging us i'm talking about decisions tonight i'm talking about making decisions tonight oh i want to always make decisions that draw me closer to god i always want to make decisions that draw me closer to god i want to make the decision to read my bible through i want to make my decision to have a little talk with jesus every morning and i want to make my decisions to to live for god i want to make my decisions to serve god i want to make my decisions to make the house of god of great value in my life i i want to make those decisions in my life i've i've often been accused and i plead guilty to the accusation the uh i've been accused of being an extremist and i say guilty as charge i'm going to play on the words for just a moment but as a pastor of a church i find that i must be extreme to get you in the stream there's a lot of extremism as a leader that i feel i must do in order to look back at you because you got to understand the reason is parents we need to set the bar high more than likely your children are not going to hit that level but if you can leave it so high that at least they'll try they'll at least try to hit it i would rather them try for that mark and miss it than not to have a mark at all i i know it's extreme i i know sometimes i seem like an extremist but i would rather be extreme and get you in the stream than to just simply to be laxadaisial and you do less we need to worship god we need to love god we need to make the decision i want to ask you tonight is he your all in all is he your everything is he the first thought of your morning is he the last thought of your day does he fuel your mind through the day is he wonderful jesus is he precious jesus do you do you just find yourself humming a song and say i love you god isn't jesus wonderful isn't jesus wonderful decisions decisions no i know this might not be an aisle running strong tower sermon but oh if you can get it decisions decisions there are men and women in prison today you say oh yeah what they what they did to get in prison y'all what the crime they were charged with oh you know what yes that was a crime that put them in there but do you know there was a lot of decisions there was a lot of decisions oh you know she got pregnant out of wedlock oh that's terrible her and that boy did that well yeah i understand that and i say yes but do you know there was a lot of decisions that led to that oh do you know that that woman was unfaithful to her husband yes that is terrible but too many times we just focus on moab rebelled and we don't focus on what brought the rebellion on decisions so i read the second book in the first chapter of kings moab rebelled i can give you the answer moab rebelled against israel after the death of ahab because israel had lost their consecration to god just like we'll have battles in our lives if we lose our consecration we'll have battles untold if we lose our consecration to prayer there'll be spirits that knock on your door you never dreamed that you would have battles with you say oh we got the spirit we we need to cast out the spirit of perversion we need to cast out the spirit of this and spirit of that before you ever go to naming a spirit you better start naming your consecration because i'm going to tell you something the devil doesn't want to knock on the door and have jesus answer it verse two and ahaziah second kings chapter one verse two and ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in samaria and was sick he sent messengers and said unto them go inquire of bills above the god of akron whether i shall recover of this disease let's stop here for a moment talk about two things the bible says he's on the second story of his house and he leans against a lattice and the lattice gives way and he falls several stories breaks bones as a matter of fact it's life-threatening and as a matter of fact he eventually dies from the fall but i have a number of questions that i'd like to ask him why are you leaning on something that is weak i mean i don't know about you and if lattices were made in the bible days like they're made now and i want to put a decorative lattice around the top of my house and the peak of my house say let's say it's 20 feet tall i got news for you if i do get up there i'm not leaning on that lattice put a guard rail up there and i'll buy into it put a brick wall up there you might you might find me close to it i doubt you would but a lattice you're up high and you're leaning on something that's not strong but isn't that the way a lot of people do that lose their consecration they begin to lean in life on that which is weak this whole world is weak i don't know what you're looking for if you're not completely sold out on jesus christ i don't know what you're looking for hollywood doesn't have your answer the sports industry doesn't have your answer and can i get a hearty amen washington doesn't you know i've been in the ministry long enough i've been preaching for over 40 years and i've been in the ministry long enough that there was a generation nolan there was a generation that used to throw off on us preachers and say we need to get educated and have it together like the men and women in washington my hell that's changed my health that's changed so hollywood doesn't have your answer fashion industry doesn't have your answer politics doesn't have your answer your family doesn't have your end why do we build our lives money no we don't need to get quiet money why lean on money money's not going to make you happy do you know there's a group years ago that were very famous called the beatles the beatles all right and they were replaced by the monkeys all right you say the who no that's another group that came along later all right all right but one of the beatles you know that that's back in the day when you bought a record and the real hit was on one side and then on the other side was just something they wrote to fill up that side and a lot of people don't know but the beatles had a song that didn't go real popular and they said over and over again we want your money we want your money we want your m m m m money we want your money all right well they got it did they ever get our money they swept america and swept the world of course they had one little downfall and they plummeted when ringo starr made the statement in his little british accent we are more popular than jesus christ they begin to plummet not before yet they got your m m m m money and then they wrote another song money can't buy you love love money can't buy you love come on folks if a bunch of heathens can write a song money can't buy you love how much more should you and i know tonight don't try to find it in money it's all right to be ambitious it's all right to do all those things but at the core the epicenter of your life should be a desire to live for god and to magnify him and to serve him and if money does come your way you are gladly to put it into the work of god and serve god could we love him right now for just a moment come on could we just love him right now hey hallelujah hallelujah should we just love him right now as isaiah you're leaning on a lattice four and he leans until it broke and he finds himself laying on the ground broken and dying and then something unusual happens he gets the messengers together and he says i need help i need help where do you want us to go hey hessiah where do you want us to go i want you to go inquire of bell zebub the god of akron whether i shall recover of this disease you know isn't it amazing that he leans on something that is weak and then he looks for his answer in something that is weak achron is no god akron is the work of man's hands he's the figment of man's imagination he's all the product of what man there there's no god that's the god of the flies there's no god he's a god of the flies but you see he leans on something that is weak and when he needs an answer he goes to something that is weak brothers and sisters at this very moment in this very county is an untold number of men and women sitting at a place called a bar and they're either drunk or getting drunk because they're trying to find an answer that's right they're trying to find an answer they have leaned on life so fragile and their life has busted on the ground and now they feel bars and restaurants and they're there trying to find the god of akron to give them an answer alcohol will never give you an answer oh you said well brother carpenter it knocks the edge off you'll have to drink more next time to knock the edge off but you will not knock the edge off they are at this very moment in this county there's drug deals going on or someone's got a little cro cocaine to sell someone's got some pain relievers some pain pills to push and there's people paying big money for that cocaine they're paying big money for those painkillers because it helps me to cope with life oh your pain medicine is never going to take your echo and it's never going to cause you to recover look look how good we got it tonight church look how good we got it we got the best thing that has ever been there is nothing any better than the gospel of jesus christ there is nothing youth group there is nothing that can compare to jesus christ love him right now with me there is nothing that can compare to repentance there is nothing that can compare to what a baptism in the name of jesus there is nothing that can compare with the gift of the holy ghost we got it made we got it good we got the best thing going the best thing i read a survey a study was done james dobson had it done years ago of happy marriages and happy marriages is not found among the swingers happy marriages is not found among those men and women that are having marital issues and they go to a counselor and the counselor says to the woman or man what you need to spice up your relationship is a third party yeah god help us what you need what you and your wife needs some pornography what you and your wife needs another partner what what you all need can i tell you that it's foolish and they are not happy you want to find some happy people find some people that don't have to go get a bottle of alcohol find some people i didn't say we don't have problems or we do have problems and i didn't say we don't have pressure or do we do have pressure but the only thing what we turn to is good for us what we turn to is not bad for our liver not bad to our lungs not bad to our brain cells when we come in the prayer room and we stagger and say god i need your help he's an ever present help in the time of need i'm talking about decisions oh god let's read on let's read on let's read on ahaziah his bones are broken he may be spitting up blood he's on a bed dying go talk to the god of ekron the fly god but verse 3 says but the angel of the lord said to elijah the tishbite arise go up to meet the messengers of the king of samaria and say unto them is it not because there is not a god in israel that you go to inquire of the else above the god of akron now therefore thus saith the lord thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art going up but shall surely die and elijah departed when the messengers turned back unto unto him they went back to their king the king said unto them why are you now turned back in other words it should have took you a few days to get to ekron the god of the flies how are you so soon return back to me when the messengers turn back he said verse 5 why you turn back verse six and they said i want you to follow this closely there came a man up to meet us and said unto us go turn again unto the king that sent you and say unto him thus saith the lord is it not because there is not a god in israel that thou sentest to inquire of bills above the god of akron therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up but shalt surely die listen to the king he said unto them what manner of man was he which came up to meet you and told you these things who met you and told you that i was going to die who stepped out and said this to you what what what did it look like what did he look like because evidently he did not give his name what did he look like and they answered him he was a hairy man gert about with a girdle of leather about his loins and the king said it is elisha the tishbite now this is very interesting what are you doing you don't have the excuse that you don't know you don't have the excuse that you you've never heard of elijah all they had to say he was a hairy man they had a wide leather belt around his loins and you knew exactly who it was well if you know exactly who elijah is then you know that elijah is a prophet that mighty miracles have worked through if you know elijah you know the power of god if you know elijah you know elijah held a dead baby in his arms a mother gave him a dead lifeless limp child but elijah took him and had some prayer with him and the child sneezed and came back to life why if you know elijah you know that he's the man that stayed with the widow and the mill barrel never failed and the cruse of oil never felt why if you know elijah you know the great power of god then i've got to ask you then why do you send out to ekron bills above oh friend i would rather be lost and never had heard the name of jesus i would rather wake up in a devil's inferno hell and just think this was a part of life than to wake up and realize that my decisions put me here you see tonight there are people just like i told you about people right now in bar stools and i told you about people right now that are doing drug deals and i told you there are also people right now in this county that are at home right now that once served god that know the god of the power of pentecost they know the god of cloven tongues they know the revelation of the godhead they know tongues and interpretation they know the great power of god but somehow someway they have been deceived to believe that their answer to life is in the world it is not in the world don't ever be deceived don't ever let a backslider cause you to think they're having fun they're not having fun church they'll only have fun for a season but if they would swallow their pride they would tell you i would give anything to have never decided to leave the church he's elijah the tishbite i know him and then i got to go and tell you this you know when god lets you fall when god lets you fall god doesn't want you to fall for it to be final he wants to wake you up you say i've fallen yeah god wants to wake you up god let you fall isaiah god let that banister give way that was god he let you fall because he's trying to wake you up and humble you he's trying to get a different spirit inside of you but it's proven even his fault hardened his rebellion how we know this he sent a captain of 50 men 50 men with a captain and they went out and they found elijah sitting on a hill and that captain of 50 and isn't it isn't it amazing let me stop here i mean i wanted to put this in this afternoon 50 is the number of pentecost 50 is the number of jubilee every 50 years what happens things go free so he sends 50 soldiers out and they are to arrest elijah and they come up to a hill where elijah was sitting and the captain of the 50 in a brazen bold way ordered him off the hill he asked him are you elijah the man of god he said i am he said come down come down and elijah simply said these words if i be a man of god then fire will come down from heaven and devour you and your 50 soldiers and just like that fire came down from heaven struck the captain and all 50 soldiers well word got back to hey josiah see god's trying to wake you up trouble is trying to wake you up it's an alarm clock stop smacking the snooze button all right stop just trying to get a band-aid on it on sunday night when trouble keeps happening to your life god's trying to wake you up so somebody i don't know who it was it wasn't any of the soldiers it wasn't the captain somebody comes in and says hey there's 51 charred soldiers on the side of the hill he said all right i'll send another 50. so he sent another 50 with another captain 51. he comes up the hill and he decides to roll his sleeves up he adds a little word to it he said are you elijah the man of god he said i am he said get down here here's the word quickly you get down here you're getting out here right now you know it's amazing you would think when you had to step over 51 charred bodies you'd be a little more humble you'd just think that some things would change you i want to tell you something you're you and i both are fools to believe that we can't lose our walk with god there's preachers way better than me that's far out in the world tonight but i'm going to tell you something i've stepped over enough of them to know i better keep my heart right with god i stepped over enough of them to know i better stay right with god you you get that you you you get off the top of that hill and get down here quickly he said if i'm a man of god then fire will come down from heaven and devour you and your fifty and just like that fire came now there's 102 soldiers littering the side of a hill and the king says send the third captain send the third captain with the third fifty you know sometimes trouble really has to come to get our attention because this old boy is pretty smart he tiptoes over 102 charred soldiers and when he gets up there to the top of the hill he gets down on his knees and he says have mercy on me have mercy on me and my soldiers over here please have mercy upon us how many people have to die how many family members have to lose out before we will make the decision our answer is getting humble before god i don't care how many hypocrites there are in the church there's no hypocrite gonna cause me to act like somebody that i'm not because the fire is gonna fall have mercy he said he got on his knees he said oh man of god have mercy on me have mercy on me and these 50 men we've walked through 102 charred bodies please have mercy on us and the lord spoke to elijah and said be not afraid of him go with him you see nothing is going to come from god that you're going to mistreat god will never let you have anything from him that you're going to mistreat that's why god went ahead and killed those 102 men because they were going to mistreat elijah they were going to mistreat that man and so elijah made his way sister hawkins i i saw you tonight and i can't help but i want you to come at the end of my message and it's going to be in a few moments sister erickson i think it's time we decide to count our blessings and where our blessings come from our blessings come from the lord i've got a few tangible things that are the product of hard work but my real value is not in what i've worked for my true value is what i've worshipped for i've got oh come on tonight come on tonight come on warm up warm up come on come on we've all got a few things we've all got a few earthly possessions that are the product of hard work and staying at it but oh what i've got that rust and moth and thieves cannot break through is what i have worshiped for it's my real blessings it's a joy that the world didn't give it to me and the world cannot take it away why don't you decide tonight count your blessings count your blessings count your blessings count your blessings shout your blessings but let me finish the story matter of fact go ahead and get in place to sing the song let me finish the story god spoke to elijah he said get on up go with the men they won't hurt you and these 51 soldiers led elijah to the sick bed of ahaziah it led elijah to a bedroom the old king was busted up from a fall possible bones protruding from his skin possible internal injuries possible spitting up blood a dark room and the man of god came to him and the man of god simply says over and over again did you send to akron for bills above because there wasn't a god in in israel in other words he's saying all they had to tell you about me was i was a hairy man with a leather belt across my loins you know who i am you know that the miracles of god of jehovah flow through me you know i'm connected to him so why did you not send for me you know what the whole story is about don't you had a haziah many had a haziah when he had that fall he was spitting up blood and dying and he said somebody go get elijah he raised a dead boy somebody go get elijah he caused a widow woman's barrel to have meal somebody go get elijah somebody go elijah would have walked in that room and elijah would have called the healing power of god down on him and he would have got up out of that bed but because he leaned on the wrong thing and because he sent for help for the wrong thing the man of god stood there in that room and said you shall die and not live and the bible says that just like he said a heziah drew his last breath what a tragedy when he could have lived with a healing when he could have lived and had a testimony are you hearing me tonight when he could have lived and had a testimony he leaves us with a tombstone what you gonna leave us with tonight a testimony or a tombstone it all depends on what you're leaning on i will look into the heels from which come with my help my help cometh from the lord for the name of the lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are saved let me tell you tonight lean on your mancho image you're gonna grow old one day man lean on the mancho manly marlborough man lean on it you can grow old one day somebody's gonna have to say about you was it that there was no god in your church yeah that was a god there was a god but you just chose there was a god but you just chose your limit you decided you decided your threshold of worship you decided that your threshold of worship was just getting here that's your threshold that's your threshold i'm here that's why your children their threshold is they come every now and then and that's why you'll have grandchildren that never darken the door of this place so i thought she was going to have us count our blessings i am just give me a minute there was one man that made a horrible mistake he was a king that wanted to be a preacher stay in your lane stay who you are if god calls you to be a preacher don't try to be a king and if god calls you to be a king don't try to be a preacher but he tried to be a king and a priest he took a censor and he went into the house of god he trespassed he wasn't supposed to be there and a group of priests went after him and withstood him and blocked the way of the holiest of holies and said you're going no further you're going no further and instead of giving the right spirit to these men he rose up in anger and when he rose up in anger he rose up in anger leprosy popped out on his head like a cauliflower and he was pushed from the house of god one generation was told no he raised a son that when his son got in trouble he stripped the gold off the doors of the temple and gave them to hire a heathen nation to defend them he devalued the house of god melted the gold and gave it to a heathen nation said come fight my battles well one man stripped the gold his grandson got him a hammer out one day and got him a handful of nails and went to the house of god and nailed the doors shut isn't it amazing what one father devalued a son came along and nailed the
