Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Seven years in the hand of Midian
- He reads the text: Israel did evil and was delivered into the hand of Midian for seven years; the angel of the Lord found Gideon threshing wheat by the winepress to hide it, and greeted him, “The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.”
- He takes his line from a Christmas song — “Do you hear what I hear?” — and says the message is about hearing what God says and coming to see ourselves as God sees us.
- He notes this continues last week's preaching on Gideon and the power of a cry.
Scriptures: Judges 6:1; Judges 6:11-12
Oppression gets into the fabric
- Oppression means to squeeze, to press, to limit and confine; it starts on the outside of the mind and works its way into the very fabric of a person's being.
- From the laws of leprosy he shows a spot could be in the warp and the woof of a garment: seven years of pressure was no surface spot on Gideon — it was in the fabric, so that no one smiled, laughed, or celebrated anything.
- Gideon was out of place: wheat is threshed where the wind blows, but he hid at the winepress, the place of gladness and wine, because the enemy had taken Israel's joy.
Scriptures: Leviticus 13:47-48; Psalm 4:7; Psalm 104:15
The Lord is with you
- People live oppressed by labels, reputation, and a past that cannot be erased by man, measuring themselves by what people see in them.
- Against that hearing he sets God's promise, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”: God does not see a coward hiding at a winepress — he sees a mighty man of valor, because he is with him.
- “Valor” means strength, ability, wealth, an army force — the word belongs to what God says, not to what seven years said.
Scriptures: Hebrews 13:5
Ownership, and “go in this thy might”
- Gideon's answer — “if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us?” — was no worship introduction; Israel knew why: they had left the covenant of Jehovah God and bowed their knees to Baal until there was no difference between Israel and the culture around them.
- The first step to getting help is ownership: you will never walk out of the hole you are in, and stay out, until you realize the road that led to it.
- God does not take up the complaint; he commissions: “Go in this thy might.” Do what you can do, and God does what only he can do — as at Lazarus's grave, where they rolled the stone away and God raised the dead.
- Gideon pleads that his family is poor in Manasseh and he is the least in his father's house; God uses humble people — as with TWW Barnes, who took his own name off the healing-crusade sign because there is only one name that can heal.
Scriptures: Judges 6:13; Judges 6:14; Judges 6:15
Reassurance, and the present of worship
- He pauses to say why the church emphasizes prayer before service and every day: we can have a program without God, but lives will not be changed without him.
- God reassures Gideon: “I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man” — and it is right to ask God for the reassurance of his presence again.
- Gideon asks for a sign and begs the angel to tarry for his present; a little talk with God begins to erode the fabric of oppression.
- Our present to God is our worship: when we hear his word and believe it and begin to worship, we give him the greatest gift we have.
Scriptures: Judges 6:16; Judges 6:17
Fire out of the rock: Jehovah Shalom
- Gideon brings the flesh, the unleavened cakes, and the broth, and at the angel's word lays them on the rock — the same rock of survival he had been beating wheat on — and pours out the broth.
- Fire rises out of the rock and consumes the flesh and the cakes, and the angel departs; if we put half the energy into God that we put into serving sin, we would have victory.
- Gideon's first response is fear — “Alas, O Lord God, because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face” — and God answers, “Peace be unto thee; fear not, thou shalt not die.”
- He builds an altar there and calls it Jehovah Shalom: the place of seven years of confinement becomes the place of peace.
Scriptures: Judges 6:19; Judges 6:20; Judges 6:21; Judges 6:22-24
The closing appeal: time is no obstacle
- He retells the Luke 13 story of the woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, who still made her way to the house of worship, and whom Jesus touched and straightened.
- Time can become a prison warden, but time is irrelevant to God: it does not matter how many years a person has been bound when God steps into the life.
- He calls the church to the altar to bring God the present of worship, leads a time of laying on of hands and prayer for healing — including those watching online — and dismisses the service.

The book of Judges chapter 6 and verse number one. And then we'll go down to verse number 11 of Judges chapter 6 and verse one. We started preaching teaching about Gideon last week when we preached on the power of a cry. The power of a cry. Uh Judges 6 and1. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. The Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. Verse 11. There came an angel of the Lord, and set under an oak, which was at Oprah, that pertainth to Joash the Azarite. And his son Gideon thrushed wheat by the wine press to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor. You're going to hear this if you've not already heard it in music and department stores, but I'm going to use for a line of a Christmas song. I'm going to use this line. Do you hear what I hear? Do you hear what I hear? Precious lamb of God, thank you for letting us be in your presence today. Father, our righteousness is as filthy rags. And Lord, just thank you for your peace, your sweet spirit, God, that we felt already. Lord, for the next few moments, anoint my lips of clay with your spirit. It may penetrate the heart of man. It may comfort, God, and touch and convict. Lord, I'll give you the praise and the honor. In Jesus' name we all pray. Amen. And amen. You may be seated. God bless you. You look so good this morning. So good to see you. So good to meet new people here today. And met a precious couple from Knoxville and New Tas. And it's so good you would be at First Apostolic with us today. Thank you. Thank you so much. Do you hear what I hear? Gideon and his people had been oppressed for seven years. They had been oppressed. They had been in the hand They had been in the hand of Midian. They had been oppressed. They had been oppressed for seven years. This word oppressed means to us to squeeze. It means to put pressure against. It means to It means to limit. It's to oppress to squeeze. to press, to limit, to confine. They had been in the hand of Midian for seven years. You know, oppression starts on the outside of your mind. Starts on the outside of your mind and works its way into the very fabric of your being. oppression begins to work on the outside of your mind and it it it over time works into the fabric of your mind. It it seeps through until not only is the surface not only is the surface of your of your mind oppressed but the very fabric of your mind is oppressed. It's an interesting read when you study the laws of leprosy, the laws of leprosy and how in Leviticus the priests were instructed by God how to identify what leprosy was and what leprosy wasn't. And an interesting thing that we find in the scripture is that leprosy could get in a person's clothing. They could actually have leprosy of a sort in their clothing. And so there was a way if you if you saw a spot on your clothes, uh there was a way you could take it to the priest and the priest could determine whether it was just a spot. Um uh you just got too close to the uh grease, uh you just got too close to the salad dressing, you just got too close of something of that nature. and the the u the priest could determine whether or not it was just a spot of some food or if it was in fact if it was in fact leprosy. In Leviticus chapter 13 47 and verse 48, uh we're given instructions about what the garment would be like. And it simply says uh the garment also that the plague of leprosy is in whether it be a woolen garment or a linen garment, whether it be in the warp or the wolf of linen or of woolen, whether in a skin or any other thing made of skin. the warp and the wolf. That was the fabric of it. That was the fabric. It was where the the threads were interchanged. That was where the the fabric of the material was. And and a a spot on top of the wolf and the warp uh could be identified as just a food stain. But if they looked and they saw that the leprosy had got into the warf and the warp of it, it had got in the wolf and the warp of it. Say that backwards. If they had got in that uh then they would know that that it was it was leprosy inside because it was in the very fabric. Can I tell you something? Seven years of oppression was not a spot on Gideon's garment. Seven years of restriction, seven years of cons confinement, seven years of pressure, constant pressure had gotten into the very fabric of Gideon. And in the very fabric of the people, they didn't have rough days. You hear me? We talk about having rough days and we talk about having we talk about having a bad day and we talk about having a rough week or a rough season. They had seven years, Sister Carpenter. Seven years of oppression. Nobody smiled. No one laughed. It was, if they marked their calendars, it went like this. It was a miserable Monday, a terrible Tuesday, a weary Wednesday, a torturous Thursday, a fearful Friday, a sad Saturday, and a sorry Sunday. I'm telling you, there was nothing. There was nothing happy going on. There was no nobody was cheering. Nobody was laughing. Nobody was sharing bad news because it was in the fabric. It was in the fabric of their being. Nobody was cheering for Carter and Abby when they got married. Nobody was cheering for Zach and Brianna when they announced that they're expecting. Nobody. There was nothing good that was going on because it was in the fabric of their mind. Now, Gideon, you know, you know, when you're oppressed that long, you're in what we refer to as survival mode. You're just surviving. Can I get a witness today? >> You're you're just going from day to day, from sun up to sun down. You're just in, man, I'm just making it. Well, I don't think we say survival mode. I think we say, hey, how you doing? And somebody will say, I'm making it. It's day by day, man. You You heard that? >> Making it making it Well, how about this? How about one step at a time? How about one day at a time? Well, that's where Gideon, his people, that's where they're at. The Bible tells us that Gideon is threshing wheat by the wine press to hide it from the Minionites. He's threshing wheat from the wine press. Now, I want you to follow something with me today. Oppression will get you out of your place. Because as we read the story, why are you threshing wheat at a wine press? You're out of place here. Wheat should be threshed on a threshing floor high on a mountain somewhere where the wind blows. That's where you would thresh wheat at. A wine press is a place of joy. It is a place of peace. It is a place when they were when they were bringing the the the grapes in to be crushed. It was a happy time. The scripture tells us they would sing, they would dance, they would rejoice. Pro Psalms chapter 4 and verse number seven puts it this way. Thou hast put gladness in my heart more than in the time that their corn and their wine increase. So joy was connected to the increase of their wine. Psalms 104:15. And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthenth man's heart. Can I tell you today that Gideon was threshing wheat in a wine press because it was probably the last place that the enemy would look for them because the enemy knew we have taken your joy. We have taken your dance. None of the Israelites are down at the wine press because they have no joy. They have no peace. They have no happiness. They have no contentment. And so they would look for them to thresh wheat from the mountain where the wind would blow and the threshing floor was at. But everybody was smart enough. No, don't take your wheat there. There's where the enemy is looking out for. So Gideon said, I'll go to the wine press. Nobody, the enemy is not going to look for me in the wine press. You see the joy of the Old Testament, you got to read it this way. The joy of the Old Testament is if you will read it and study it, you will see the Lord Jesus even in the story of the wine press and Gideon threshing wheat. Let me give it to you this way. Jesus Jesus we find Jesus woven in the fabric of the story. Did not Jesus say I am the bread of life? And also we know that the bread went to a place called Gethsemane. What is Gethsemane? Gethsemane is a place where they would crush the grapes. It was an olive place. It was a place where they would crush the grapes. And from the crushing of the grapes, the oil would be extracted. And from the oil, guess what we get from the oil? We get medicine from the oil. We get oil for the lights of the lamp. We get we get anointing oil to be in the temple. But also there at the g garden of Gethsemane, his sweat became as great drops of blood. Three things we see here. Bread, flesh, blood, redemption, and oil for the joy of God's spirit. Can I tell you, even in these oppressive times, God was saying, "I'm going to weave who I am through the fabric of this oppressive time." Now, here's what I want you to understand today. Do you hear what I hear? And in order for you to hear what I hear, you got to follow the song along. Because the song not only says, "Do you hear what I hear?" But it'll also say, "Do you see what I see? Do you see what I see?" You see, if I can do my job today, if I can do my job of what I prayed for and studied for today is to get you not necessarily to see God, but for you to see God as God sees you. To get you to see God as God sees you. See, there's a lot of people today that are in oppression because they're living their lives by what people see in them. There's labels, there's reputation, there's past that can't be can't be erased by man. And so people go through their life in heavy oppression because they're always living by what people can see. Well, this is how they see me. This is how they perceive me. This is what I done. Whether good or bad, right or wrong, this is what I've done. But I have got good news to tell you today. Do you hear what I hear? >> Because the Lord shows up at a man hiding of seven years of oppression, of seven years of restriction, of seven years of pressure. The Lord shows up to a man that's hiding at a wine press. And of course, that can even be a message in itself. I wonder how many memories flooded Gideon's mind when he was at the wine press. I wonder how many times he struck the wheat and he thought, I remembered eight years ago we were here dancing because of the wine. We were here rejoicing because of the wine. And now God sees him here. And in verse 12 of Judges 6, and the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor. Gideon, do you hear what I hear? Oh, we're seven years oppressed. No, no, no. Gideon, do you hear what I hear? The Amalites come and rob everything we've got. No, no, no, no, no. Do you hear what I hear? We've not had peace in seven years. We had We lost our home. We're living in a cave. We're homeless. No, no, no. Gideon, do you hear what I hear? Because what I hear is the Lord saying, "And the Lord is with you. You mighty man of valor, do you hear what the Lord is saying about your life? The first thing I want to bring to your attention is, do you hear what I hear? The Lord is with you. The Lord is with you. Hebrews 13 and5. Look at this closely with me. Hebrews 13 and5. Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as you have. For God hath said, "I will never what? Leave thee, nor forsake thee." Let me read it from a different translation. It kind of brings something to light here. Don't be obsessed with money, but live content with what you have, for you always have God's presence. For hasn't he promised you? I will never leave you alone. Never. And I will never loosen my grip on your life. I don't know about you today, but I'm not going to hear what seven years says about me today. I'm going to hear what the Lord is saying about me. Because if you look at me, you see a coward threshing wheat at a wine press. You see a man surviving a miserable Monday, a terrible Tuesday. You see a You see a man merely surviving. But when God shows up in my life, I don't see that anymore. I see a God that is saying, "You are a mighty man of valor because I am with you." you. How many How many are glad for that today? That God, Lord is with thee. You mighty man of valor. Question mark. If a image could have come on top of Gideon's head, it would have been question mark. Me a mighty man of valor. Valor means strength. Valor. Valor means ability. Valor means wealth. Valor means an army force. What Gideon? Do you hear what I hear? Now, that's only half of the your deliverance today. That's only half way to jour your journey to change things. It's not all of how God sees you. But now, how did Gideon see God? How did Gideon see God? Judges 6 and13 says, "This is how Gideon sees God." And Gideon said, "Oh my Lord." Write into that anything you want to. Oh my Lord. If the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us, and where be all his miracles, which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? But now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hand of the Midionites. Now, let me tell you something. That, oh, my Lord, was not his intro into worship. It was not I'm about to worship you. It was his audience with the Lord. Oh my Lord. You're with us. If you're with us, then why has all this happened to us? And you know something, Gideon, you know very well why this has happened to you. You all have left the covenant of Jehovah God. You have bowed your knees to false gods of Baal. You have become like the culture that surrounded you. There's no difference between the church. There's no difference between Israel and the culture. And you know that's the reason that you are defeated. You know, I I really think the first step to getting help is to realizing why you got in the mess you're in. >> It's called ownership. We don't want it. Our natural flesh rejects it. It's called being responsible. But I got to preach to you today. I can make you laugh, but I hope I make you repent. I got to preach to you today. You'll never walk out of the hole you're in and stay out of the hole you're in until you realize the road that led to that hole and how you got in that hole. But if you'll ever start realizing, hey, this is the mess I got in. The next time you get tempted to take the exit, you're going to be thinking, "Wait a minute, there's a trap down there. >> Am I preaching this morning?" >> Come on, Gideon. You know why exactly? And then he said, "Where are his miracles which our fathers told us of? Where's all this bringing up out of Egypt? By the way, the Lord has forsaken us and the Lord has delivered us into the hand of the Midian." I said, "No, we're forsaken of God. God will never care for us again. He's left us. He's forsaken us. He's went on to his God business. He's went on to other things. And we are here. We are here without without hope. But watch what happens in verse number 14. It's as if God turns a deaf ear. It's as if God doesn't even respond to him. His his his his complaints if the Lord be with us, why this? And where are the miracles? And and didn't you bring us out of Egypt? And and and I have to say it's as if God turned a deaf ear to this in verse 14. And the Lord looked upon him and said, "Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midionites. Have not I sent thee?" Now look at those words there. Go in this thy might. Hear me now. God was saying, Gideon, use what you have, the strength that you have. A lot of times we're wanting God to help us when God is simply saying, "I only kick in. I only kick in when you use what you've got." You see, there's many miracles that prove that God won't do it all. A miracle is not necessarily the things that we can't do. It's we do what we can do and God takes care of the rest. The miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead after four days of being dead. The Bible said Jesus came to the grave and then he requests something of them. He says you roll the stone away. Wait a minute. God, why don't you roll the stone away? You can roll the stone away. We know that. I mean, if you can bring a man back to life, you can roll the stone away. But you know what he's saying there? He was saying, you go in your might. You do everything you can. You put the stone there, you take the stone away. And when they did what they could do, church, hear me now. When they did what they could do, God came in and did what only he could do. And he raised Lazarus from the dead. I've come this Sunday morning to preach to somebody. You do have strength. You do have something you can do. You've got brain power. You've got your self-will. And if you'll just do what you can do, I believe that God will step in. Stop making excuses. Stop saying, "Where's the God of of of yesterday?" Stop saying God has forsaken us. If God has forsaken you, what are you doing here this morning? Somehow there's a thimble full of faith in your life that says, "I know I'm in trouble. I know I need something today. And if I can just get to the house of God, God is saying, give me your strength. Do what you can do." Let's listen to Gideon now. And he said unto him, But that's a that's a phrase with him, isn't it? Oh my Lord. Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am on the lease of my father's house. He said, I'm telling you, we're the basement of the bottom. We're the basement. My family's poor in Manasse, and we're the poorest family. that's of the poorest tribe of Israel. We're the basement of the bottom of the people of God. You know what this says? God can use humble people. If you think you can, God stands off and wants to be your audience. But if you know that only God can, you sit back and watch God work. years ago. Many of you know of this name, many of you from Louisiana. Matter of fact, not even Louisiana. He was very powerful preacher. Uh his name was uh TWW Barnes. TWW Barnes. And God be to use brother Barnes early in his ministry of miracle signs and wonders. Notable miracles would happen, miracles that could be seen before you. And just so many so many miracles were happening in TWW Barn's life that he wanted to go traveling and get a tent. And uh he did he bought a truck that could carry his tent and all of his equipment. And brother uh Knuckles he he had painted on the side a sign that advertises his crusades. TWW Barnes Healing Crusade. TWW Barnes Healing Crusade. Brother Barnes said one night he was going to the tent and said the Lord spoke to him and said, "Uh, hey TWW." said, 'I hear you went in the healing business. And brother Barnes asked the Lord said, 'What do you mean, Lord?' And he said, 'Well, says there on the sign, TWW Barnes Healing Ministry. He took the sign down that had his name on it because there's only one name that can heal. >> You hear me? There's only one name that can heal. No man has the power to heal you. No woman has the power to heal you. The power is in God Almighty. Give praise to his name. God only uses men and women as a vessel to let his power run through. But can I tell you, God resists the proud. >> If you have pride in your life, if you're wanting God to do something so people can look at you and give you an applaud and say, "Man, what you've done, can I tell you, God resists you like water and oil?" But if you can be an humble vessel and realize if God doesn't anoint us, we're in for a rough time today. If God doesn't take Let me a minute. Let me explain to you one of the reasons we emphasize prayer before church and we emphasize prayer every day. And if you want to come by and be a part of our sun up to sun down prayer, there's a method and way this auditorium is open for prayer. You know what? One of the reasons we have prayer before church because we can't do it without him. >> We can have a program without him. But lives won't be changed without him. >> Oh, we can have a perfect program. We can I can be I can study to be an ortor. I can study when to have voice reflection. You know, I can I can study all this and Mary had a little lamb and and and the Lord is my shepherd. I can study all that oratory stuff and all all of that. The choir can work on staying on key and the choir and the music and all of that and we can get it picture perfect and that's just a performance. >> But I'm going to tell you, I don't know who the gentleman was. But while we were singing holy to the Lord, God touched a gentleman's heart in this church today and he made his way down to this altar and there he knelt and he talked to the Lord. Performances don't bring people to the altar. Only people saying God if you don't help me today. Oh God, if you don't help me today, God, I It's a Sister Jon Stone that says, "God, if you don't anoint my voice today, I It's a Sister Ericson that says, God, if you don't anoint my plan today, it's a church that says, God, if you don't touch us today, we can't be helped." God uses humble people. Verse 16. And the Lord said unto him, surely I will deliver thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. God reassures him of his presence. God, you're going to go with me. How many today by the raising of your hand would like just to say to God, I'd like the reassurance of your presence. >> Glory to God. I just want the reassurance of your presence today, God. I I know you've told me once that you're with me, but God, once is not enough for me because I may have a miserable Monday and a terrible Tuesday and a a weary Wednesday. God, I I'm just telling you, you know why I'm made up, God. I know you touched me last week, but God, I just want a reassurance, Lord. I just a reassurance. God gave him a God gave him a reassurance. He gave him a reassurance. God gave Gideon a reassurance of his presence. I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Medidianites as one man. Look at verse 17 with me for a moment. Gideon said unto the unto him, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then show me a sign that thou talkest with me, depart not hence, don't leave here, I pray thee, until I come again and bring forth my what's that word? What? Present. Is present not connected to party? And is party not connected to celebration? You see, just a little talk with the angel begins to erode the fabric of oppression because now the man begins to mention present. Present. I I want you to stay here because I have a present to bring you. I have a present to set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. I I've got a present to bring you. I I've got a gift that I want to bring you. I've got I've got something that I want to bring you. Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, let me tell you today, we all have the ability to bring a present to God. And do you know what our present is to God? Our present is our worship. When we hear God's word and we believe God's word and we begin to worship God, it's the greatest presence that we could ever give to him because I'm absolutely believing that seven years of oppression, that seven years of it being in the fabric of my mind, I don't know when I've ever had I don't know the last time I had a merry Monday or I had a terrific Tuesday, but you have walked into my life on this Sunday morning, God. And because you have told me that I'm going to remove this seven-year stigma, I got news for you. Would you wait just a minute, God? Because I've got some worship I want to bring you. I I've got some I've got a present I want to bring you, God. I want a present. I want to give you a gift. Has anybody today c can can c can can you just not wait for me to call the musicians because you're going to be given an invitation to walk up to the front of this room and begin to unload a present to God. Oh, why don't we do it right now? Oh, why don't we do it right now? Why don't we open up a present to God? Oh, I love you, God. That's a present. Oh, I worship you, Jesus. That's a present. Oh, I lift my hands and surrender. That's a present. Oh, I magnify you. Do you hear what I hear? >> He said, just wait right here. Just wait right here. Verse 19. And Gideon went in, made ready a kid, unleavened cakes of an ephod of flour. The flesh he put in a basket and he put the broth in a pot and brought it out unto him under the oak and presented it. Here's a flesh. Here's a pot of broth. Here's some unleaven bread. Unleaven represents sinlessness that you know you know I understand that God can forgive my sins. That's that's God's place to forgive me of my sins. But would you look at me for a moment? It's God's place to forgive me of my sins. But it's my place to repent. He doesn't forgive what I don't repent. But we all got the ability to repent. Cleanse the vessel. Cleanse the temple. Do your best. Live your best. Try your best. God will take care of the rest. So he brings some flesh and he brings some unleaven bread. and he brings some broth. Verse 20. And the angel of God said unto him, "Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes and lay them upon the on this rock, pour out the broth." And he did so. Can you see him? He's threshing wheat. He's thresh threshing wheat there by the wine press. He says, "Put the flesh on the rock." The same rock of survival. The same rock that you've been wearing your arms out, beating the wheat, put the flesh and the unleavened cakes and the broth on the rock. Let me say this to you. If we would put half of the energy into God that we did into serving sin, we would have victory. >> You believe that this morning? >> Will you put a half? Well, what you you go to church every week? Go to church several times a week. the world celebrates and goes seven days a week. He said just what you put the flesh, the unleavened cakes and the broth. And and he and he did so. Verse 21. Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes. And there arose fire out of the rock and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the Lord departed out of his sight. Can you see that? I just want a sign. I just want a sign, God. The angel said, "Put it there." The angel just took his staff, touched the end of it, touched the rock. Fire came out of the rock, consumed the flesh, little broth, the bread, and then the angel departed out of his sight. Verse 22. When when Gideon perceived that he was the angel of the Lord, Gideon said, "Alas, oh Lord, my Oh Lord God." Well, he's changed it, hasn't he? Alas, oh Lord God, because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face. And the Lord said unto him, "Peace be unto thee. Fear not, thou shalt not die." Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah Shalom. Unto this day it is yet an Oprah of the Abaz rightites. Now let me just say this. Anytime we begin to step out to do something for God is a natural feeling of fear to come. Natural feeling. I hear people say, "Well, I don't know about committing my life to God. I just don't know if I can live it and all that." Well, the truth of the matter is you can't live it. All right? You can't live it without him. >> But God doesn't want you living in fear. You see the first thing that attacked Gideon after the angel touched the rock the fire came consumed the the the offering. The first thing that came to Gideon was fear. Oh alas, oh Lord God, I have seen face to face. That meant he was afraid of dying. He was afraid of dying. And God answered him. He said, "You're not going to die." And when he said that, God gave Gideon peace. You shall not die. peace. You shall not die. Gideon built an altar there and called it Jehovah Shalom. Shalom means peace. He built an altar there and he said, "That's the God of my peace." Used to be the place to where our fresh week used to be the place of seven years of confinement. Used to be the place of oppression. Used to be the place of a miserable Monday and a terrible Tuesday, a weary Wednesday. Used to be that place. But now it's the place. It's the place of peace. It's a place of peace. Do you hear what I hear today? Do you hear God say there's something in you? And I'm not just preaching today to people that need to come and surrender their lives. I'm preaching to people whose lives have been surrendered for decades. But even you and I need to be reminded that God sees something inside of us because we go through trials and we go through tests and we have things happen in our lives that we can't explain and we have seasons and we have oh yes miserable Mondays and terrible Tuesdays and we we have weary Wednesdays and we have all those things. But somehow in the midst of that, there's a God that's saying, "Do you hear what I'm saying to you? Do you hear what I hear?" Would you bow your heads with me for a moment? And would you just ask God to let you hear what he's saying to your life today? Come on, do that with me. Our musicians are coming. Would you Would you do that with me right now? Do you Do you hear what I hear? Do do you hear what I hear? Do you Do you hear the Lord say, "You're a mighty woman of valor. You're a mighty man of valor. You're the Lord is with you. I I am inside of you. I I'm I'm deeper than the fabric of your mind. I'm I'm inside of your heart." Come on. Let's pray right now. Come on. I want every man, woman, boy, and girl in here, regardless of where you're at spiritually, I I want you to begin to pray right now. Do you hear what I hear? Do you hear? Do you hear what I hear today? Do you hear? Do you hear what I hear? Help me pray. Would you come on? Help me pray. Please help me pray. I don't you want to hear what God is saying this morning? Oh yes. You're lifted high, God. Come on. There's somebody right around you today that God is speaking to you right now. Sister Ericson, we don't. We only know that she was oppressed, afflicted by a spirit of infirmity. We don't know how long, if it started when he wrote it or if that was the length of it, but for 18 years. I've often wondered in the Bible the many miracles that God did. He put time. He He puts time on it. The man had been that way since his birth. The man was above 40 years old and been blind since his birth. And the woman had an issue of blood. But don't just say that she had an issue of blood. It says she had an issue of blood 12 years. Throughout scriptures and throughout scriptures of miracles being performed, God simply wanted to add the time there. And I believe I know why. Because time be can become a prison wartner. Warden time can become the greatest negative factor of your life. Well, Bill Carpenter, you don't know how long I've been this way. You don't know how long, how many years we've been in this situation. Can I tell you today, I represent Jehovah, God of eternity. And time is not an obstacle to the God that we serve. I've come to tell you in Jesus' name, it doesn't matter how many years you've been bound. In Jesus' name, it doesn't matter how long you've been in this situation. When God steps into your life, time is irrelevant to God. Come on, stand and let's give a worship to God right now. Stand and let's give a worship to God. Yes, Jesus. Yes, Jesus. Glory to God. Yes, Jesus. Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. Remain standing with me. The Bible records a story in Luke 13. Jesus was in the synagogue teaching one day. He was in the synagogue teaching. And here the woman came in. The Bible says it doesn't say she had an infirmity. It specifically says she had a spirit of infirmity. Jesus later said Satan had bowed this woman over to where she could not look up. Everybody knew who she was. She would walk in the temple something like this right here because she had the spirit of infirmity. A spirit of infirmity will drive you to always looking down and never being able to look up. But you got to hand it to this woman just like I got to hand it to you. Even though she had a spirit of infirmity, she made her way to the house of worship. Even though she had a spirit of infirmity on her, she made her way into the house of worship. But on that morning, hallelujah, on that morning, hallelujah, Jesus was there. >> Could this be your morning? Could this be your hour? could this be the time today? And he just went over and here's what he said. When they begin to complain because he just touched her, that's all she needed. Brother Josh, when I get over to you, put your hand over on my shoulder. Jesus just walked up. And when he touched her, she stood up, right? Oh my God. Oh my God. Brother Ibans, how many services have we seen Chloe coming in with her oxygen on? But I'll tell you something about that girl. She may come in with an oxygen tank and she may come in and wall that on, but she got a smile of joy on her heart because Chloe knows that God could touch me at any time. And if he doesn't touch me down here, I'm going to get that ultimate touching. I just wonder today, I just wonder today how many with transparency in your spirit, you don't care what people think. You You've been held. You listen, that oppression has held you long enough. You don't care what people think. You don't care what people say. I'm going to go to the altar this morning because I need a touch from Jesus Christ today. I'm tired of the spirit of oppression. I'm tired of a miserable Monday and a terrible Tuesday. I'm tired of all this. Today, I want to go and just like what happened to brother Carpenter, when I make my way to Jesus this morning, when I make my way to that altar, he's going to touch me because I'm bringing my worship to him right now. I'm bringing my praise to him right now. Who'll be the first to step out of your pew and say, "I'm bringing you a present. I'm bringing you a gift. I'm bringing you my worship right now." Come on. Come on. Right now in the name of Jesus. I'm bringing you my worship right now. In the name of Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Do you hear what I hear? I hear you're saved. I hear you're free. I hear you're delivered. I hear you're whole. I hear you're forgiven. I hear you're righteous. Do you hear what I hear? >> Come on, gather up around the altar. Push up around the altar. There's going to be a lot of people come to the altar this morning. Your name, >> your name stands above the Lord. Hallelujah. Your name is the highest. Your name is the greatest. Your name stands above them all. All thrones and domin all powers and positions. Your name stands above them all. And the angels cry. Holy all creation cry. Holy you are lifted high, holy forever. Your people sing to the king of kings. Oh, you will always be holy forever. Your name, your name is the highest. Your name is the praise. Your name stands above them all. All thrones and all powers and position. Your name stands above all. Your name. Your name is the highest. Your name. Your name is the greatest. Your name stands above the wall. All and dominions. Your name standing high. Holy forever people to the king of kings. Oh, you will be holy forever. You'll always be >> You'll always be holy. Holy forever. >> You'll always be holy. You'll always be holy. >> Oh, move, oh, Holy Ghost. >> Oh, let's yield to him right now. I feel the power of God in this room. I feel the power of God in this room right now. Come on. >> God's wanting to see the sign of worship. >> God's wanting to see the sign of worship. God, I've been oppressed. >> God, I'm here, >> but I believe I'm a mighty man of valor. >> Here's my sign. >> Here's my sign, God. >> Come on, give him your sign this morning. Give him your sign this morning. I beg you. I plead with you. Give him your sign. He's holy. Forever. Hallelujah. >> Forever you. Oh, God is moving, church. God is moving right now. You hear me? God is moving. Holy. Woo. You are >> chains are being broken right now. >> Sins are being forgiven right now. >> Joy is coming right now. >> Joy is coming right now. >> Peace is coming right now. Peace and joy. You are holy. There is no one like you. There is no one else. You are you are Yes. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Glor. Many of you today are standing such as high. You're standing such as I today. And those of you that are praying, please keep praying. If you're standing such as I today and you're feeling the power of God literally run through your spiritual body like your blood runs through your veins and I believe in a transferring of a power of God through the laying on of hands. It's biblical. It's it's it's it's in the Bible. They shall lay their hands. It would be an absolute tragedy today for you to be standing beside somebody and all you need is just somebody to lay their hand over on you right now as you begin to worship. And as you would begin to worship, I want to ask the camera man today. I want us to have a ministering time here by laying your hand on. Put your hand up if you're comfortable putting your hand over on somebody beside you. You're praying. And I want to pray for those that are watching today by way of the worldwide web. You're unable to be in the house of God today, but the house of God is coming to you right now. We're presently right now here in the auditorium. There's a tremendous anointing. There's a tremendous flowing of God's spirit that's blanketed this place today. And we know that that spirit is not confined to this room right now. So, in the name of Jesus Christ, if you're sitting down at home, I want you to stand up right now and I want you to begin to lift your hands and I want you to begin to worship and I want you to begin to praise God. If you're in a hospital bed, I want you to begin to lift up your hands. There's a healing power. There's a tremendous healing power right now in the name of Jesus. Be healed. In the name of Jesus, be healed right now. Let cancer be healed. Let cancer be healed right now. God, I pray God for heart disease. I pray for lung disease this morning. I pray for liver disease this morning. I pray for tumors on the brain today. I pray for blood disease today. I pray today, God, that you would move. You're a God of miracles, signs, and wonders that you would move upon them right now. >> Go ahead, begin to rejoice. Go ahead and begin to rejoice right now. Go ahead. there on the other side of that screen. Begin to rejoice right now. God is in that room. Heat. Heat. Heat. You are holy. Glory. Singer forever to on the other side of that string today. And in this auditorium, I come against the spirit of infirmity. Today, I come against those that have found themselves addicted to substance that's wrecking and ruining their natural body, wrecking them in all areas of their life. Jesus, today, for every person addicted to drugs, that they would put forth an effort to worship right now. that they would put forth an effort to worship right now. I pray for every person suffering with alcoholism. If they would put forth a an effort to worship right now, come on, roll the stone away. Those of you watching online right now, come on, put forth an effort to worship right now. Deliverance is coming in Jesus name. Deliverance is coming in Jesus name. He that was victorious over death, hell, and the grave has come to give us life. Yes, Lord. Come on. There is none beside you. Oh, you're holy. I can't ask you to I just want to ask you to sing that one more time. As we linger in the presence of God, there is no more higher. Alhamdulillah. >> No one left behind. >> You are holy. Holy, holy. You are holy. There is no one like you. There is no one else beside you. You are holy. There is no one like you. There is no one else beside. You are holy. for you. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Hey, power forever. Now, there's those that are praying right now. And I want you to remain praying. But I want to lead us in one last act of worship. One last act of worship. All right. Before I lead us in that last act of worship, I need to clarify something Pastor Nolan said when he got up here today. He said that the choir would the children's choir would be singing at 5:15. They're going to be practicing at 5:15. All right? But if you want to come to the practice, you can come to the practice, but they're not going to sing to six o'clock. All right? Now, the sound that's among us today is a sound of worship, and it's a sound of asking God to do something. But now, by faith, I want you to believe with me, whatever your mountain is, whatever your addiction is, whatever your issue is, I want you to begin to believe with me that you're healed. You're set free. The mountain is gone. It's something you talk about in the past that God took it away this Sunday morning. Now I want you to give him a shout of thanksgiving. Come on if you believe God did it. Come on if you believe God did it. Come on if you believe God did it. Come on if you believe God did it. Come on. I believe he did it. I believe he did it today. I believe he did it today. Keep on shouting. See you tonight at 6:00. God bless you. I believe he did it. Come on.
