Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The First Givers

  • Abel brought the firstlings of his flock and the fat thereof, and the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering; Cain's offering, brought without firstfruits, was not respected.
  • Abram, returning from the battle, gave Melchizedek the priest tithes of all — hundreds of years before Sinai.
  • Jacob at Bethel vowed that of all God would give him, he would surely give the tenth back to God.
  • Tithing began as worship from willing hearts; it was not born as a command.

Scriptures: Genesis 4:1-5; Genesis 14:18-20; Genesis 28:18-22

Tithing Under the Law

  • Under the law the tithe of the land and of the herd is the Lord's; it is holy unto the Lord.
  • A tithe held back and redeemed later cost the fifth part more — the hardened heart made obedience expensive.
  • The tenth animal passing under the rod was holy and could not be exchanged, good or bad.

Scriptures: Leviticus 27:30-34

The Schoolmaster Dismissed

  • Before faith came, God's people were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
  • The law was the schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
  • After faith is come we are no longer under the schoolmaster — we do not tithe out of fear or guilt, but out of faith.

Scriptures: Galatians 3:23-25

Grace Raises the Standard

  • Jesus rebuked those who tithed mint and anise and cummin yet omitted the weightier matters of the law: judgment, mercy, and faith — do those, he said, and do not leave the other undone.
  • Under grace the bar rises: the lustful look is already adultery in the heart.
  • If God has done more for us under grace than under law, our giving under grace should not shrink below the law's tenth.

Scriptures: Matthew 23:23; Matthew 5:27-28

Robbing God and the Open Windows

  • Will a man rob God? In tithes and offerings the nation had robbed him, and lay under a curse.
  • Bring all the tithes into the storehouse and prove him: he will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing there is not room to receive.
  • He will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and keep the vine from casting her fruit before the time.
  • In Samaria's famine the scoffer doubted there could be windows in heaven — but the word of the Lord stood, and by the next day there was bread in the gate.

Scriptures: Malachi 3:8-12; 2 Kings 7

The Giver God Remembers

  • The angel told Cornelius that his prayers and his alms had come up for a memorial before God.
  • God keeps the record of every gift; a giver's name comes up when God is choosing, and giving gets heaven's attention.

Scriptures: Acts 10:4

if you have your Bibles and would turn them to Genesis chapter 4 verse number one we'll continue what we were teaching last Wednesday night inspired me when we went out of the country the need to evangelize this world don't stop giving because if we stop giving somebody is going to stop going some people go by giving right some folks give by going and I want to give so that somebody can always go we got a world that needs what we have tonight amen we have a God that wants us to be blessed tonight we have a God I was going to say we have a God that's on our side but we really don't have a God that's on our side we have a God that picked us to be on his side he picked you to be on his side and I'm so thankful we got a good god tonight we got a wonderful God tonight Genesis chapter 4 verse number one Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived bear cane and said I have gotten a man from the Lord she again Bears brother Abel and Abel was a keeper of sheep here's your occupation Cain was a tiller of the ground in process of time it came to pass it came broad of the fruit of the ground and offering unto the Lord Abel he also brought of the firstlings of his slot of the fat thereof and the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering but unto Cain in his offering he had not respect Cain was very Roth and his countenance failed simply I want to continue tonight on don't stop giving I ask you to repeat the title because I really wanted to seek in uh seep into your spirit tonight would you just say it again with me don't let's pray God I ask you this evening Lord that anoint me as a pastor of this church Lord I ask you tonight to touch the minds of all the people that we would understand the role of giving in our walk with you God Lord that we would understand that you you want us to be blessed it is your will for us to have your favor it is your will for us to have your blessings God tonight would you give us understanding in the area of finances God lord you would touch every heart and every mind in Jesus name I pray amen and amen you may be seated tonight I'll simply recap from last week with Cain and Abel Cain and Abel being the Old Testament typology of tithing and offerings Adam had taught his sons Cain and Abel how to give how to give to God and the Bible simply records the fact that Abel was a keeper of sheep and that was his occupation and so therefore because of his occupation the Bible says he brought the firstlings the firstlings verse 4 the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof and this first things has has with it how we worship God because God is first in our lives the secret to living for God is simply put God first put God first seek first the kingdom of God put God first Abel put God first in the firstlings of his flock which was the tithe and of the fat thereof which was an expression of gratitude of offerings we understand that Cain just simply brought an offering an offering unto the Lord no first fruits he could have brought first fruits but he simply brought an offering we understand that Cain was rejected and because Cain was rejected it affected his emotions he was very angry and his anger led to hatred and his hatred led to murder and so the stage was set through the offerings of Cain and Abel Cain's offering led to rejection while Abel's offering led to a blessing of acceptance while Abel lived and also it the blessing or the offering that Abel gave out lived Abel long after Abel was dead the Bible says his gift was still alive and his gift was still speaking when we begin to discuss the subject of tithing and offerings there is a lot of misinformation that is peddled about tithe and offerings and especially about tithing and that is that you will hear some people just simply say tithing was under the Old Testament law it was under the law well the truth of the matter is tithing was many hundreds of years before the law was given to Moses on the Mount Sinai the Bible says that men were giving God tithe for example in Genesis chapter 14 and verse number 18. Abraham has returned from a battle of which he has rescued his nephew lot he has not only rescued his nephew lot but he has taken spoil from the battle he comes back and in Genesis Chapter 14 verse number 18. it says and Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth Bread and Wine and he was the priest of the most high God so as Abraham is coming back from this battle with not only lot his nephew but with the increase of spoil Here Comes Melchizedek and Melchizedek brings refreshment to a man that has been in battle he brings to Abraham Bread and Wine and the Bible says in verse 19 and he blessed him Melchizedek blessed Abraham he he placed a blessing upon him a favor upon him and said Blessed Be Abram of the most high god possessor of Heaven and Earth and blessed be the most high God now this priest gave Abram or Abraham as he would be later called as he gave him refreshment of bread and wine of which some could see communion there as he gave him that communion and as he blessed him as he put a Divine Heavenly blessing upon Abram Abram did something in return look at verse 20. and blessed be the most high God which hath delivered into thine it delivered thine enemies into thy hand now watch what Abram does and he gave him ties of all he gave him tithes of all so tithing predates Mount Sinai for hundreds for hundreds of years it tithing was placed in creation tithing was early in the DNA of Adam Adam passed it on to Cain and Abel and then even early even Abraham knew a system knew a system of tithing and Abraham ties to Melchizedek the priest Abraham had a grandson by the name of Jacob and Jacob had a vision one night and in Genesis chapter 28 and verse number 18. Jacob Abram's grandson has a vision and Jacob rose up early in the morning and took the stone that he had put for his pillows and set it up for a pillar and poured oil up on the top of it and he called the name of that place Bethel means House of God Bethel House of God let me stop there for a moment I'm so thankful for the house of God I am so thankful for the house of God I know you believe that too but we can't relate to people can we that the house of God is something that they look for every excuse not to go to seems like if they can find a legitimate excuse if they can find something that'll float I wasn't at church because of this or because of that and I understand things happen I understand things happen sometimes to keep us out of church keep us from the house of God but that should be the exception right and not the rule I love the house of God he said call the name of that place Bethel House of God but the name of that city was called Luz at the first and Jacob vowed a vow saying if God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go and will give me bread to eat and Rhema to put on so that I come again to my father's house in peace then shall the Lord be my God and this Stone which I have set for a pillar shall be God's house and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth tithe unto thee so tithing predates Sinai my hundreds of years Adam passed it down to Cain and Abel Cain and Abel passed it down to their descendants or Abel did he found his way to Abraham and Abraham passed it down to Isaac and Isaac passed it down to Jacob and when Jacob found himself having a god making a promise to him Jacob simply made a vow that's very serious he made a vow with God and he said to God if you will keep me if you will be with me that's God's presence verse 20 is where I'm at if God will be with me that's God's presence and will keep me in this way that I go that's God's protection and give me bread to eat and Raymond to put on that's God's provision so that I come again to my father's house in peace that is peace he said God if you do all these things you do all these things this is your house on a and of everything that you give me God I will bring the tenth and I will place it in your house hundreds of years go by hundreds of years go by and how many of you know that with the passing of time The Sinner Man did not grow better he grew worse right man in his Fallen nature was not reforming himself to better Behavior he was hardening his heart he spends 435 years in bondage in Egypt 435 years God brings them out of Egyptian bondage takes them to Mount Sinai and there he gave a law he gave a law that shout not or Thou shalt it was a command it was a law why is it a law it became a law because man was so hardened nowhere do we find it being a law to Abel nowhere do we find a scripture that said it's a law able that you give first thing of the flock and the fat thereof nowhere was it a law for Abraham nowhere do we find Abraham under a law saying you've got to give Melchizedek the priest tithe now where do we find Jacob being being prodded by law but you got to understand man now has hundreds of years of being hardened under sin and now God knows the only way I'm going to direct you and guide you is through a series of Commandments that at the end of it either has you do this and I will bless you or if you don't do this I will curse you and so now we find the law we find tithing being slipped under the law because of the hardness the hardness of man's heart Leviticus chapter 27 verse number 30 listen to the law now listen to the law and all the tithe of the land whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree is the Lord's it is Holy unto the Lord if a man will will it all redeem all of his ties now listen What God Says you want to hold back God says why is he saying this why is he saying he didn't say that he didn't say to Abel if you want to hold back he didn't say to Abraham he didn't say to Jacob but he says to these hardened people if a man will redeem at all redeem all of his tithes he shall add there to the fifth part thereof he said you want to hold back the you want to hold back the 10th go ahead and hold it back but when you do decide to bring it to me bring 20 more percent with it I know of a I know I know of a person in this church that miscalculated their income tax and miscalculated their income tax by three dollars three dollars that's a bummer isn't it to miss it by three dollars they got a letter from the IRS this week and the IRS said you miscalculated you Otis when you sent your tax return in you showed you were short three bucks so send us to three bucks oh yeah the penalty is forty two dollars forty two dollars for three bucks and a bummer God said God said you you want a heart in your heart you don't want to bring me what belongs to me when you do when you do just bring 20 more percent with that verse verse 32. and concerning the tithe of the herd or of the flock even of what of whatsoever passeth under the rod the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord he shall not search whether it be good or bad neither shall he change it if he change it at all then both in the change thereof shall be holy it shall not be redeemed listen look what God said he said you start counting the animals he said hold the rod out hold the rod out and every 10th animal that passes under the rod that's mine now said should you be tempted said that little you're just hoping that little scrawny looking animal the runt of the bunch you're hoping oh god Jehovah let the tenth be him But Here Comes the best Here Comes Bessie I mean here comes the here comes the best oh it's that's the tenth God said if you take that scrawny animal and move him to the front of the line and take that fair flesh went away said then you just go ahead and give me both of them all right I'll just go ahead why is he doing this why did he do a table why did he do it to Abraham because their hearts were not hardened but hundreds of years of sin had hardened their hearts verse 34. These are the verse 34. that's on the screen right help me please please help me if I I really want to be a preacher of the word these are the suggestions which the Lord suggested Moses there's a people in the gallery tonight what what are they what is that word it's not a suggestion is it these are the Commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel in Mount Sinai what was the law about anyway go all the way to the book of Galatians in the New Testament all the way to the New Testament now Galatians chapter 3 and verse 23. Galatians 3 and 23. but before Faith came that's the dispensation we're living in now Faith without faith it is what impossible to do what how do we please God today by faith but before Faith came we were kept under the law shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed wherefore the law was our school master to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified by faith but after that faith has come we are no longer under a Schoolmaster now look at the imagery here a Schoolmaster was a servant in a house that was responsible for taking the air the Sun by the hand and leading him to school he was called a school master his job was to take the air in the family by the hand and lead him to the teachers to take him to the teachers that was the job of the school Master to make sure that the air got to the school room and got trained but once he was trained there was no longer the need for the school Master because he was trained and so what the Lord is saying here the law took Humanity by the hand and said I need to teach you about this God need to teach you the ways of this God I've got to give you commandments so you'll know that some things are holy and some things are Unholy I've got to give you commandments so that you can see if you will keep them you will be blessed of all Nations you'll have you'll have Commandments Like No Other Nation will have you'll have you'll have Commandments such as Thou shalt not bear false witness and you'll see where a community of Truth tellers is a far better Community to live in than a community of liars you I'll give you I'll give you Commandments such as Thou shalt not to commit adultery and you you will begin to see how that faithfulness has a tremendous reward for your life but before that happens I gotta take you by the hand the law I have to take you by the hand but I'm taking you somewhere where am I taking you I am taking you to bethlehem's manger I am taking you to the ministry of God robed in flesh I am taking you to the Cross because at the cross the payment for sins are going to be met and at the cross the schoolmaster's job is going to be done away with and now you're going to live not by the law but you're going to live by the faith you're going to live by the faith of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and so this law so now wait a minute pastor am I hearing you correctly so we're not under the law anymore so I'm not to tithe anymore no you didn't hear that you you didn't hear that at all because now that we're under grace tithing just resumes just like it did before the law but we go back you see they had to have that commandment to tithe out of fear folks we should not give out of guilt you should not give out of guilt no one should tithe in this church out of well I better tithe because God will blow my car up I better tithe or the business will go Billy up I better type somebody in the family well I better that's a wrong reason to type that's the wrong reason to tithe we don't tithe out of guilt we tithe out of rejoicing because our Bible says God loveth a cheerful a cheerful Giver so now they had to have that commandment under the law they had you know they had to have that commandment staring them down the face Cain didn't Abel didn't have to have it Abraham didn't have to have it their heart have it their hearts were pliable now we have had our hearts softened by the blood of Calvary we've had our hearts softened by the love of God who wouldn't want to give to a god that would come and die for us who would not who listen you ought to know a good deal when you see it this is a good deal to live for God look at all that God has done for you and I when I think of the goodness of Jesus come on now when I think of the goodness of Jesus that all that he has done for me when I think of his goodness so it was tithing after the law absolutely listen to Jesus listen to Jesus in Matthew chapter 23 verse 23. Jesus talks about the importance of tithing Matthew 23 23 woe unto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for you pay tithe of mint and anus and of coming that was really small leaves on a plant really small small leaves on a plant that they would tithe on he said you pay tithe of mint anise and coming and have omitted the weightier matters of the law there's more weightier things than tithing there's more weightier things than tithing judgment Mercy faith these ought you two have done judgment mercy and faith and not to leave the other undone tithing he said you don't have your priorities right you will count the leaves on a tree and give God every tenth leave but you won't have mercy upon a woman that's caught in the act of adultery you'll get down and count the leaves on your plants so you can go into the temple and pay you tithe but you can't forgive your brother you can't have mercy and judgment in your life he said these are the weightier matters of the law you see if you're struggling to pay tithe if you're struggling with finances you're you're a featherweight you're not even struggling with something that's oh wait a way to your matter he said these ought you to have done and not to have left the other not to have left the other undone tithing was under the law and we're under grace all right let's just let's just uh for a moment let's kind of go down this Avenue with those that say tithings under the law and we're under grace okay so I hear what you're saying so I want to ask you a question did God do more for us under the law than he did for us under grace did God did God do more for Humanity under the law than he did for under grace under the law he just under the law he just wrote with with his finger on a tablet and and Moses brought it down and said do this and it didn't work right it never changed man so now did we get more out of Grace Okay so so it's ten percent of the law and we get less under the law then we get under grace so shouldn't we give more now that we get more these people want to talk about tithing was under the law these are the people that are not they're not giving they're not tithing and they want to justify themselves right so now if he did more under grace I submit to you if you want to go down that road it ought to be 20 percent I'll be 50 well maybe we ought to flip it give him 90 and let's keep 10. because he's done more for us under grace than he did for us under the law he wrote on a stone his law but he wrote In My Heart his word come on praise him with me right now as a matter of fact we'd all do good to read were the standard got lifted under the law under the under grace he lifted the standard he didn't lower the standard look at Matthew 5 verse 27. look at listen to Jesus Matthew 5 verse 27. you have heard that it was said are y'all there you have heard that it was said by them of old time that's the law Thou shalt not commit adultery it's the law but I say unto you this is Grace but I say unto you that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart that's not lowering that commandment under the law you were just told not to do the ACT but under grace because you get more under grace he said you shouldn't even don't even look at a woman with the intent of having adultery with her because if you do that according to Grace you've already done it in your heart I submit to you that tithing the timeline of tithing went like this from creation mankind Cain Abel Abram Isaac Jacob man's Hearts hardened they come out of Egypt God gives a law tithe when the school Master got us to Calgary it didn't stop there it just changed attitudes now we're not tithing out of fear we're tithing out of faith we tithe out of Faith now let's look a little deeper let's look a little deeper at this tithing and giving involves two words that are a blessing to us the first word that I will introduce to you is the word obedience obedience obedience is an outward manifestation that your heart is believing it's an outward manifestation when you are obedient it is an outward manifestation that faith has connected inside of your heart the second word that goes with obedience is discipline discipline we need the favor of God in our lives in the area of finances you need the blessings of God upon your life and you know what we serve such a good god tonight do you know that God wants you to be blessed even in your finances God wants you to be blessed but God wants you to be blessed in your finances so that you can be like the original man of Faith what did he say to Abraham I will bless you to make you a blessing I will bless you to make you a blessing the second word that is attached to obedience is discipline do you know that a lot of people it is not the amount of money they make they will never make enough money because they cannot control their spending oh if I could just make a hundred thousand no you would you would get in debt to where you would need a hundred and ten thousand if I could just have more it's not more that you that you need it's discipline with what you have I read one financial counselor he wrote in a book and he said my appointment this morning was with a man that made a hundred and eighty thousand dollars and he's going bankrupt my next appointment was of man that made a quarter of a million dollars and he's going bankrupt and he went all the way through to half a million dollars and he says the issue is not how much you make it's how much you spend can I tell you when Jesus is allowed to conquer your heart it affects not only your salvation but it affects your decision making down here on Earth because when Jesus is not the master of your heart your heart is empty it's hungry all the time and you begin to think things is what's going to fill it so that second word is discipline a second word the second word is discipline if you will obey God through faith through faith not guilt through faith if you will obey God through faith that obedience will trigger a disciple a discipline in your spirit that you will be able to say no to a lot of whim buying all right because you're not buying things to try to feel an empty heart true now I want to I want you to turn back with me for a moment back to the Old Testament now that we have thoroughly proven through scripture the tithing was before the law tithing was under the law and tithing is after the law in Malachi chapter 3 verse number 10 or excuse me verse number eight Malachi 3 and verse number eight there's a series of questions that God begins to ask Israel and here it is in verse 8. will a man rob God yet you have robbed me but you say wherein have we Rob thee now it God is saying to them you have you have robbed me now what does it mean to rob it means to take my Force something that doesn't belong to us to take by force so God is saying you have robbed me even this whole nation you have robbed me you have you have robbed me and when they heard that they said how have we robbed you how we robbed you you see this is why the priest had failed in their job to teach Israel tithing the priest failed to teach Israel The Obedience and the disciple the discipline of tithing and because the priest had failed to teach this when God said you've robbed me they said huh how did how we robbed how have we robbed you and God gives the answer in ties and offerings you are cursed with a curse for you have robbed me even this whole nation you know what the word curse me does don't you it means to take the life from take life out of well if taking life out of something what does it leave that something it leaves it dead he says you are cursed I have taken the life out of you I have taken the life out of you when Jesus cursed that fig tree what did he take out of that fig tree he took the life that it had that's why people that are not Covenant relationship with God are always complaining about life being a bummer about not having life and they search for life they search for life in many different places you're not going to find it I don't care what kind of cruise you go on what kind of mink coat you buy what kind of house you finally live in you'll never find life because he has cursed and brought the life out of you you are cursed with a curse for you have robbed me even this whole nation now here's one thing I love about God is God not only tells us what we're doing wrong he tells us how to get our act together somebody ought to say praise God have you ever been around people and please don't elbow them if you've ever been around people that can only tell you what you're doing wrong they cannot they can they can only tell you what you're doing welcome to life right welcome to life I read a the other day that Albert Einstein was teaching a call a college class and he asked the class he said one times 1 times 9 is 9 2 times 9 is 18. 3 times 9 is 27 . it went all the way up to 9 times 9 is 81. in the class is looking at him like you're really doing this and then Albert Einstein said and 10 times 9 is 91. and when he said that the class erupted in laughter he said I just taught you a lesson you'll get nine things right in life and nobody will ever say a word but you'll get one thing wrong in life in life and everybody will laugh at you I'm so glad that God will not only tell me what I'm doing wrong but I'm glad that God will tell me how to get it right that's why we're here on a Wednesday night so man I'm ducking back here I got my feet up because I'm not tithing hey I didn't come to blister you tonight I come to bless you tonight I haven't come to make your life miserable tonight it's already miserable I've come to try to tell you how to get it right in the days to come I didn't come to blister you I come to bless you tonight you curse with a curse for your you have robbed me even this whole nation but here's how you get it straightened bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse Now isn't it amazing there that he brought that he said all the time all of it he said bring all of them why you said bring all of it because some people misunderstand giving and tithing tithing is giving but all giving is not tithing tithing is giving but all giving isn't tithing for an example I can give a 20 bill tonight but if I'm giving a 20 Bill and calling it tithe and I made six hundred dollars that ain't all that ain't all the time bring you how much of the tide bring all the tithe into the storehouse that there may be meat in my house now how the priest operated in the Bible days was the priest operated taught the word of God they were they didn't have time to plant Fields they didn't have time to take care of animals they didn't have time to do all this they were opening up the word and they were teaching the word and that God orchestrated so that the the farmer would bring the but would bring the milk in and the butter in and the wheat in and the priest could eat from that and keep teaching the word even it this happened in the Old Testament but when the people stopped bringing the tithe in the priest had to put their overalls on and go out and start plowing and it happened in the Old Testament and so therefore when people wanted to come and know their God there was no priest in the temple to teach the word so the people lived in ignorance until God raised up Nehemiah and said you go get those rooms open get those priests out of those fields get those feet those priests back in the house of the Lord teaching the word tell the people to bring the tithe in so the priest can eat so the priest can teach the word and the people can be blessed by the word can I tell you tonight and I know that you know this but we need to say it the house of God is the greatest place to get information on the in the world the god information the right information the Blessed information you can get your life right with the information that is preached in the house of God God you can raise your children right your children will be taught at children's church how to tell the truth and love God and how to know the things the stories in the Bible it happens at church we're taught how to love our wives at church we're taught how to be good parents at church we're taught how to be good good Witnesses at church bring you all the tithe under the story house that there may be meat in my house and prove me here we saith the Lord of hosts notice how he introduces himself he said brother Carpenter it's it it is a rough place out here finances right now you've got to fight for everything that you've got you've got to fight on your job you've got to fight to keep your job you got to fight it's a rough place out there but he says watch how he introduces himself he says prove me now here with saith the Lord of what host that is a word of a captain of a warrior he says if you'll understand I will fight for you in this area if you will prove me as far as I know as far as I know this is the only Commandment that God said put me to the test put me to the test it's not it will it's not tithing might work for me no no no you take the might out of there tithing will work for you tithing will you you can't understand it but if you'll simply let the eye of obedience take you in to God's presence God is able God is able to take a smaller amount I hope you're hearing me tonight God we said well Carpenter I I can't make it what I got right now and and you're asking me to let it be a smaller amount God is able to take a smaller amount and do more with a smaller amount that is obedient than you can with double what you've got right now I think we ought to trust God I believe we ought to just be obedient to God and this is in my notes this is my notes for real Carpenter man we got the first of the year coming and I think man you've really inspired me tonight we first of the year is just around the corner and I believe you know what brother Carpenter the first of the year the first of the year uh uh I I'm gonna start tithing well let me ask you something let me ask you something tithing is like dieting when you want change I want immediate change I want immediate change so the change is not going to come in because God does not bless intentions he bless his actions see you know it's the best time to start is now best time to start will be a Wednesday night say you know what you go home tonight and talk with your wife say you know what brother Carpenter from the word he taught us tonight let's go ahead and write let's go ahead and figure out what we made last week and give the 10 to God and I know I I I I it's not going to make any sense it's a lesser amount but let's put God to the test could y'all give God a hand clap right now let's put God to the test I'll fight for you God says you know God believes in you God wants you to be blessed God believes in you God wants you to be blessed he says prove me now here we saith the Lord of hosts you still with me in the Bible if I will not open you the windows of Heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive the windows of Heaven I will open you the window do You Know that heaven has Windows Heaven has Windows and the Bible says that tithing and offerings open the windows of heaven and please see it this way tithing opens the windows of Heaven offerings determine what comes out of the windows of Heaven if you give sparingly you're going to reap sparingly but if you give abundantly you're going to reap abundantly the heavens have Windows and when I'm tithing the windows are open but when I'm not tithing what are the windows shut you know Israel was in a famine in second Kings chapter seven Israel was in a famine and and it was so bad they were eating animals they were eating the Bible says Dove's done and and and and that's that's terrible to even go into what Dove's done is but they they it was terrible times it was terrible times they were eating donkeys heads and Doug's done but a man of God stepped out he said by this time tomorrow there'll be fresh bread in the gates of Samaria and a scoffer said this a scoffer stepped out and said if there was Windows in heaven might this thing be no it's not Mr scoffer it's not if there's windows in heaven there is Windows in heaven and we activate those windows by tithe and by offerings don't you want the windows open don't you want the wind is open on your life how about those children that you love how about those children that you love how many once the windows open on those children that there's children there's children that were born wealthy what do you mean by that well their parents were wealthy and because they were born to this set of parents they were born into wealth all right and and there's some there's some families that have wealth in America that there's seven eight ten Generations they were just born into wealth because their last name was Rockefeller or Vanderbilt or Kennedy they were just they were just born into wealth here's the thing I want to tell you I want my children to be born into the wealth of tithing now they've got a tithe that does not that does not negate the fact they should tithe but they will be blessed because mom and dad died they'll be blessed because Mom and Dad type there'll be blessings that come up on their life because Mom and Dad was a tither and then as we at a young age at a young age and we need to get back to this we really need to get back to this thank God growing up when my parents sent me to Sunday school they always sent me with a coin in my hand you know what that instills in that child when you come to God's house you ought to bring an offering in your hand now I know today I know today and I'm just I'm gonna I'm only going to hit this I'm just going to hit this because what our generation has been absolutely just baptized in is all of these thieves all of these thieves and Sham artists on television give me 10 you're going to get a hundred and all this all this stuff and and while they've got air-conditioned dog houses and gold-plated toilets and all of that can I tell you I am a dog lover but my dogs do not have an air-conditioned dog house and I have a porcelain toilet just like you do all right but we don't tithe because of that we tied because it's God's word and we tied because we got a world I'm going to tell you I come home from Germany and God is baptized we got to reach this world we have got to reach this world now watch what he said if we'll bring all the tithe into the storehouse I will pour you out a blessing that there shall not be y'all see this now a blessing that there shall not be what room enough to receive it so if it's not room enough to receive it where does where does the excess go when there's no room here and you know God has met our needs here at First Apostolic of Maryville I said God has met our needs here at this church we are blessed we are blessed we are blessed we are blessed we're blessed with a school we're blessed with our youth we are blessed above measure we we we are blessed but where do we do with the excess I'll tell you what we do with excess all around the world we're sending it here so that Germany has got a Man Standing Up In a Pulpit and is preaching this Wonderful Plan of Salvation because we got to get the job done the son is sitting on this world and we have got to get the job done there shall not be room enough to receive it verse number 11. look at this and I will rebuke the Devourer for your sakes and he who's the Devourer whoever it is it's a he right I'm going to rebuke the Devourer and he think I know who he is I think he is the one that Jesus said the thief cometh but to kill and Destroy but I have come that you might have life I'll tell you I believe I know who the Devourer is I believe it's the adversary and anytime the adversary has a door of Disobedience he walks right through it but he cannot walk through a door of obedience because when he walks through my house in my yard in my life because I am a tither and an offering Giver he is met at the front door by somebody saying I rebuke you you take your death you take your destruction you take all of that you turn around this house is covered by the blood I am and oh he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground neither shall your Vine cast her fruit before the time in the field timing is going to be everything for you he said if you're a tither he said I'm not going to let the vine cast forth and then there are Frost come that would happen a Vine would go ahead and Bud real quick and then a frost would come and kill it God said I'm going to control timing I'm on control timing I'm gonna tell you something if you're a tither and an offering Giver God will be able to put you in the office just at the right intersection your name will show up on somebody's desk your name will come up in a conversation you'll get that promotion and you won't even know how you got that promotion but you don't know that somebody just brought your name up right out of the blue and somebody said yeah God just touched their heart and they said yeah I think they'd be good for that job move them from this part in the factory to the other part I believe that with all my heart he says Yvonne won't cast it's it's not going to cast its time before the time in the field All Nations call you blessed knowing about you but that's the god I want to serve I want to serve a God and bring my name up at a time at the right intersection they'll be they'll be the right they'll be the right they'll be the right time I won't well I just don't really think I shouldn't really think God cares what you give is that right it's nine minutes to nine how many loves the story of Cornelius he got the Holy Ghost didn't he remember he was the first Gentile to hit the Holy Ghost we ought to be very thankful for that because we're all Gentiles here all right and um God God sent him an angel right and I should go through the story real quick God sent him an angel the angel said go down get Peter he gonna come back and tell you about Acts 2 38 right but did God just uh just was it was it all was it the Gentile Lottery was it just the Gentile Lottery just the God said you know any many many Gentile you know just why out of all the Gentiles why did cornelius's name come up I thought you all would never ask me that Acts chapter 10 verse number four the angel appears and talks to him Acts chapter 10 and verse 4. and when he looked on him he was afraid and said what is it Lord and he said unto him thy prayers and thine are come up for a memorial before God folks don't tell me giving doesn't get God's attention Cornelius didn't even have the Holy Ghost wasn't even baptized in Jesus name was serving the god of Abraham Isaac and Jacob but he prayed and he gave offerings and these offerings were just not listen listen when you give offerings and you just kind of put in the plate forget about it God doesn't forget about it the Bible tells us to lay not up for ourselves Treasures on this Earth We're rust and moth and thieves break through but lay up for yourselves Treasures in Heaven all the money you've ever given to God he's got a record book in heaven he keeps a mighty good record book and so God was up in heaven one day and God looked down and it was a monument a memorial and it's a gentile and he had a prayer meeting and he looks over here and here's another Monument it's a monument that gentile's been given and God says he's a giver and he's a prayer he said that's the one I'll use to open up the gospel to all the Gentiles don't tell me giving doesn't matter to God I'm gonna close with this but I want to ask you a question I want to ask you a question and just answer it straight out how many would love for Jesus rode the clock back two thousand years ago how many would love for Jesus to be your pastor would you really you know the ushers come and they have the US they have the containers how would you feel if Jesus just stepped up with them and come down every aisle oh he'd never do that why he did he walked right over to the offering container and stood there and said I want to teach you a little something people come here I mean he's standing there hey stender brother brother Nate run down here real quick just run down here real quick all right is that running I love you buddy I'm so sorry hold your hand out come on y'all the front row here come give come get cheesecake Pharisee he said let me tell you something he said as these people come down here see in the offering container brother stennis it was a brass yeah it was really there hey what's up peony I found a penny and buddy I've been Rich ever since uh there was a big what what they were brother Stan was a big brass it looked like the end of a tuba and what what the fair seasoning would do would take a lot of change and they'd hit it real real big clang it here clanging and they kind of look around but here come a little widow woman in called it the Widow's might m-i-t-e right but when you're given the right way God help me spill it right it's the widows m-i-g-h t Jesus said can I tell you something she gave me she gave more than ever hey figure that because she gave her her living what she gave was of her living can I tell you tonight that God we got a world we got a globe we got a world that's lost we got places brother Tyler are we got places in Africa right now where they're sending this reports fifteen hundred two thousand people that need to be baptized we've got reports from around the world of of ministers just saying if you just come teach us we just we just open we know there's got to be more but they can't go if we don't give and I hope to God this church never gets matter of fact my goal before I die my goal I want to see a year that we hit a million dollars in missions given in this church God's been good to his church God's been good to us so so understand the blessings of tithing let me pray over you tonight before we go farther Lord subject of money God the enemy hates it when we teach on this the enemy wants to try to get in people's minds and and give a false uh reason for why we teach this but I curse that enemy tonight in the name of the Lord Jesus God my family will be blessed and I want every family at fac Maryville and f-a-c fac Sevierville I want every family God in these campuses Lord to be blessed we do not give out a guilt I am not given because I'll go to hell and eat God I give because it is right to give it is a joy to give it is a blessing to give I want it to be passed down to my children and to my grandchildren and to my great-grandchildren Lord let your blessings be up on First Apostolic church tonight in Jesus mighty name we pray let's give him a hand clap offering as we're going home
