Expectations of the Jews | Senior Pastor Kenneth Carpenter

if you have your bibles and would stand with me this morning i want to direct your attention to the great book of acts to the great book of acts chapter number 12 and verse number one the great book of acts you say well they're all great well they're all great um but there's something about the book of acts that's uh relevant to us today the whole title of the book of acts that's an abbreviation the full title of it is the actions of the apostles the actions the verbatim preaching uh what they preached and after all who who better would know what jesus wanted to be preached than the men that walked with him for three and a half years these were the men and this is the recording now about that time herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church he killed james the brother of john with the sword and because he saw that it pleased the jews he proceeded further to take peter also then were the days of unleavened bread and when he had apprehended him he put him in prison and delivered him to four quadrants of soldiers to keep him intending after easter to bring him forth to the people peter therefore was kept in prison but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto god for him and when herod would have brought him forth the same night peter was sleeping between two soldiers bound with two chains and the keepers before the door kept the prison and behold the angel of the lord came upon him and a light shined in the prison and he smote peter on the side and raised him up saying arise up quickly and his chains fell off from his hands and the angel said unto him gird thyself bind on thy sandals and so he did and he saith unto him cast thy garment about thee and follow me and he went out and followed him and whisked not that it was true which was done by the angel but thought he saw a vision peter just thought he was having a good dream and when they were past the first and the second ward they came into the iron gate that leadeth unto the city which opened to them of his own accord and they went out and passed on through one street and fourth with the angel departed from him and when peter was come to himself he said everybody say he said when peter was come to himself he said now i know of a surety that the lord has sent his angel and hath delivered me out of the hand of herod and from all of the expectation of the people of the jews from all of the expectation of the people of the jews for a few moments today i want to minister on the expectation of the jews being delivered from the expectation of the jews put your bible down with you please help me pray today for a precious evangelist we have a precious evangelist by the name of gary ashcraft friday night he has suffered multiple strokes and is currently right now in an icu and he is a man that has preached miracles he is a man that god has used in a dynamic way and now this man that has prayed for others probably some of you in this house today he's in the hospital today can we turn the table and can we lift up a prayer for brother gary ashcraft this morning father the precious name of jesus god touch your servant lord god you know the need lord you know exactly what's causing these strokes lord i ask you lord to allow your spirit to go to that i see you lord god may your spirit lord do what no medicine can do god may your spirit lord today do do what no man can do god may your spirit today lord do not do what the human body cannot do on its own lord in the name of jesus christ today healed brother gary ashcraft lord touch his body today let there be a turn god and let this turn to a miracle that this turn to a testimony let this turn to another faith-building message that this man of god will preach for your glory of your kingdom anoint us today in jesus name we pray amen give the lord a hand to praise before you're seated come on give him a real good hand to praise right now oh hallelujah oh how great is our god and he is greatly to be praised you may be seated according to webster's dictionary the definition of the word exception expectation expectation is a belief that something will happen or is likely to happen he said in this word that he delivered him from what the jews were expecting to happen he delivered them from the expectation of the jews a belief expectation is a belief that something will happen or will likely happen as you read the 11th chapter of the book of acts you will find with me a golden nugget of some spiritual warfare in the fact that the church in the 11th chapter of the book of acts became very missions minded and the bible said they stretched out their hands to give they stretched their hands out to give no sooner had they stretched their hands out to give that the bible says in verse number one that herod stretched forth his hand to vex look at that the church spirit filled stretches out its hand to give life only for the enemy not to set idle but for the enemy to stretch his hand out to vex and so we see this close of the 11th chapter the beginning of the 12th and the bible said that god permitted god permitted herod to behead james god permitted herod to take the head of james the brother of john with the sword then it says and because he saw that it pleased the people you see herod was a people pleaser he was a people pleaser history outside of the bible tells you that herod spent the majority of his time he was one of the he was one of the longest men that held the title of the herod of all of the herods the reason that he did from daylight to dark and beyond he wanted to please the people well he saw that it pleased the people to take the head of james and so he decided that if it pleased the people to take the head of james it would also please the people to take the head of peter that if he could be had peter that that would be but when he arrested peter he had peter apprehended that's another word of saying arrested he arrested peter and he put him in prison intending to after easter that he would bring them forth he would bring peter forth to the people and have a grand execution now again this herod sister carpenter is brilliant because he could have beheaded peter the day he arrested him but herod is brilliant because herod wants to gather a crowd he uh pay per view i mean herod wants uh he wants to get the word out he wants everybody to know hey after easter we have already arrested him we already have him chained to sit between two soldiers we already have 16 soldiers that are taking shifts to keep him bound he has chained to soldiers and he is in the maximum uh security part of the prison he's in the deepest hole of the prison you have to go through two or three other doors and two or three other things to get out of the prison intending after easter that he was going to be had peter and he was going to be pleasing but you see i told you that the church stretched its hand out in giving and that the enemy stretched his hand out in vexing and because the enemy vexes is not the church's last move it might be the enemy's last move but it's not the church's last move because an interesting verse says but prayer was made unto god for peter to be released from prison but prayer was made but prayer was made can i can i stop here and it says but prayer was made verse 5 without ceasing unto god for him the church got together and the church began to pray my message is not on prayer today it's on the expectation of the jews but can i tell you today that keep on praying because god is hearing and the night before the night before the execution the night before the big day the night before herod was rubbing his greedy hands together and ironing his robe and getting ready to please a lot of people the night before chained between two soldiers an angel of god appeared in the prison now i'm going to add some things that the book of acts doesn't add but something had to happen he just came in the angel came in and just put him to sleep just just just put him to sleep rock-a-bye rock-a-bye rock-a-bye little soldiers he just put him to sleep just he just put him put him to sleep and then he turned the light on and he put the soldiers to sleep and he smote peter on the side and said stand up and when peter stood up those chains that was on peter's hands down into the guards fell off of his hands and the angel said get dressed put your shoes on put your robe on follow me peter now you got to realize peter's just thinking he's of course there's there's another little nugget here of a ministry how comforting the holy ghost can be because if you know you're going to die the next day the next day the bible says peter was sleeping i don't know how much sleep i'd get if i knew that was the the last night i i've never understood you know in prison on death row these men getting the last meal i i don't you know i don't i don't know i'd be interested in my last meal it's the last drink i'm gonna have last potato i'm gonna have well anyway he's sleeping i'm telling you today that whether you're delivered or not god can give you comfort in situations that you have no understanding for as a matter of fact i hear a verse of scripture he's a god that gave us peace that pass of all understanding anybody ever walked in that piece this morning do i have any witnesses in the house anybody ever walk in the peace that passeth all understanding now peter thinking peter's just thinking i'm just dreaming this is a great dream man this is a great dream and he's following the angel and one door opens and another door opens and as he walks down the hall there's there's guards that are sound asleep and and they're crumpled over in their chairs they're laying on the floor and he just walks out until he gets outside and there's a big iron gate that's between that's between the prison and the city and that big iron gate swung open of its own accord it just it just opened for peter peter and the angel walked out of the iron gate and down a city street and when the angel got him far enough out the angel just left and when the angel left peter came to himself i'm not i'm not dreaming this is real this really happened those head that herod god has delivered me from herod that herod that people pleaser god has delivered me from herod and the expectation the jews were expecting me they thought man peter is gone he's a he's a goner he's he's done with he he's dead the expectation of the jews where it's likely going to happen it's a belief that it's going to happen but peter stood and said no god has delivered me from the expectation of these jews what they thought was going to happen to me god has delivered me from that you know i think possibly today that i may want to minister to some people that you're being hell-bounded hell you're being held bound uh in in chains by expectation of others that they believe that something is going to happen to you or they believe that you're not going to make it or they they expect that you're never going to recover but on this sunday morning i want to inject some faith into your heart that if god delivered peter from the expectation of the jews god can do it again for us today what they expect to happen to us is not going to happen to us what they expect is going to happen to me is not going to happen to me i i guess i'm going to preach a little bit today i want to disappoint a whole lot of people i want to disappoint a whole lot of people and there's one person i want to disappoint i want to disappoint oh slew foot lucifer the devil he expects me to give up but i'm going to disappoint him why he expects me if i have some disappointments that i'm going to stop praising god and i'm going to stop living for god i'm going to sell my bible and sell my suits i'm going to stop coming to church but i'm here to tell you that i'm going to disappoint the adversary i'm going to show him you know there's a lot of expectation there's a lot of expectation that goes on in our world today people just expect you to do certain things you know for example it can get in the church and that is that when we retire we become uninvolved in the house of god uh uh brother mayo would you mind sir if i ask how old you are today would that would that offend you if it would tell me anyway you'll be 67 tuesday well why don't you kick back and take it easy sir i mean i mean your retirement 60 67 you you look good like you you know you you're a good-looking man and you look good but come on now just uh you don't have to show up to church all the time you don't have to you don't you don't have to praise god wait what are you doing on the front row that don't you know the front row is a is for young teenagers we expect them to sit up front but but i mean you're hitting 67 sir what what you you know and if you had taken that attitude and i'm using him today if you'd taken that attitude i got the most wonderful video sent to me from him this week of his son uriah that fell under conviction and they took him to the sevierville church and they baptized uriah mayo in the name of the lord jesus christ oh hallelujah i rejoice with you man we love mayo's around here we got a church full of mayo's around here we love them hey do you know something don't you know that we're only supposed to shout in a storefront church don't you know that they're expected that we have to have a prayer room in a storefront church because when we're in a storefront church or we're in a home missions church we gotta pray to make it through the service we gotta pray to pay the light bill we gotta we gotta pray just to keep our nose above water but hey when you get in a 15 million dollar campus around here nobody expects the prayer room to keep on going and and the enemy was hoping that he could he could put a sedative on us with this beautiful edifice that we've got and that we would kind of get highfalutin and we would think that we have arrived and there'd be no more shouting and no more aisle running and no more dancing and no more verbal tongue talking going on but why haven't we disappointed the adversary his expectation was we would stop living for god his expectation was we would calm down his expectations now brother and sister zeander blessed me this morning now i'm going to tell you something the world has made age a bad thing but you won't find age in the bible being belittled you find it in our culture if we don't watch it our culture our culture tells us that age is something that we need to try to stay away from forever young forever 21 and all of that some folks need to go stand in the gap and forget about forever 21 amen age is not a bad thing age is a wonderful thing the bible says a wide-headed person is a glorious person if they be found walking in the path of righteousness can i tell you something about old age is the enemy expects us to quit now i might not be a spring chicken and you may not be a spring chicken and we may not be able to run the aisles like brother ben lee runs the aisles but can i tell you i'm running the aisles in my heart i may not be able to run an aisle but i sure can shuffle to the house of god i may not be able to i may not be able to dance and i may not have a lot of strength oh arthritis may really be working on every joint i got but i want you to know as long as the enemy expects me to quit the enemy just says hey just stay home and watch it online just stay home that's what the enemy's expecting but somewhere i'm saying i'm going to disappoint him cause i'm going to keep on going to the house of god i'm going to keep on going listen i'd rather go that's all right sis go ahead that's right go ahead that's good this morning can i tell you something i'd rather be at home in my bed watching online and knowing when i had strength i went to the house of god if i ever get to where i can't come i'm gonna have precious memories oh how they linger i'm gonna know when i did have it when i did have strength i preached when i did have strength i went when i did have sir i don't want to get to that age and not be able to look back oh i wish i had went oh i wish i had done this is this all right today the expectation the expectation the expectation peter said he's delivered me from the expectation the expectation i watched brother and sister xander today as they made their way into the house of god and i thought the expectation is for them to stop doing this but you see today the enemy has an expectation i'd like to talk to him for just a moment the bible the bible talks to him in micah chapter 7 verse number 6 for a son death honor the father and the daughter riseth up against the her mother the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law a man's enemies are the men of his own house domestic violence family trouble now i know there's an expectation with family trouble and that is once we get on the bad side of each other the only time we're going to meet and partially greets at funerals and weddings because i got sideways with you brother i got sideways with you sister i got sideways with you dad i got sideways with you mom isn't a terrible thing this verse says a son dishonor at the father the daughter rises up against her mother the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law a man's enemies or the men or the men of his own house what are you going to do with trouble in your family i don't want i know what the enemy expects you to do unfriend them tell all your friends you've unfriended them that's what's expected of you what's expected is don't talk that's expected but in verse number seven there's a little turn in the story therefore i will look into the lord that's what we need to do with family trouble we need to have one person in that family give me one person in that family that can start looking toward the lord i'll tell you god can turn family situations around if we can just get one person in the family to start looking for god looking to god it may not always it may not always be the answer but i'm telling you i have seen god turn more marriages around because i got one in that marriage it just kept say oh god help us god we need you lord we need you god we need you god therefore i will look into the lord i will wait for the god of my salvation my god will hear me rejoice not against me the expectation rejoice not against me oh my enemy expectation let's talk to him for a moment rejoice not against me oh my enemy when i fall not if i fall when i fall not if i fall when i fall when i fall i shall arise you're expecting me to stay down you're expecting me to stay in my wounded shape somebody offended me somebody did me wrong you're expecting me to go through my entire life this way but i got news for you enemy when i fall i'm going to do something you don't expect i'm going to get back up when i fall and muddy my name and it's an embarrassment to see somebody the enemy's expecting me to stay away from the church but i'm going to do something he's not expecting i'm gonna get up hey you see who's here today hey do you see who's here today hey did you see who went to the altar today you know what they were doing the enemy was expecting them to stay down but they spoiled the expectation of the enemy and they got back uh rejoice not against me oh my enemy when i fall i shall arise when i set in darkness the lord shall be a light unto me you see we've got to understand the wicked have an expectation look at proverbs chapter 10 verse number 28 the hope of the righteous shall be gladness but the expectation of the wicked shall perish proverbs 11 23 the desire of the righteous is only good but the expectation of the wicked is wrath the wicked have an expectation the wicked the wicked one has an expectation oh he did you see this so plainly in job chapter 1 verse number 8 and the lord said unto satan the wicked one has thou considered my servant job there is none like him in the earth a perfect and upright man and one that feareth god and in true of evil then satan answered the lord and said doth job serve you for naught he said come on god he's not serving you for nothing hast thou not made a hedge about him and to that i want to pause and thank the wicked one for one thing he has said you have informed us that god has a hedge around us god has a hedge around us hallelujah hast thou not made a hedge about him and about his house oh i don't have a hedge around me personally i got a hedge around my house and about all that he hath on every side i not only have a hedge around me and my family but i've also got a hedge around my belongings thou hast blessed the work of his hands and his substances increased in the land put forth thine hand now and touch all that he hath and he will curse thee to thy face and the lord said unto satan behold all that he hath is in thy power only upon himself put not forth thine hand so satan went forth from the presence of the lord now the enemy satan was really expecting i know he really really he really brother he really thought see see let's don't get the devil two two up there he's not almighty all knowing he just looked at it and said i'm telling you if i could touch what he has i expect he'll curse you i mean if i take his health and his wealth and his kids and i break him i'm just expecting he's going to curse you well what the enemy may expect is all determining on my response so satan really thought here it goes here it goes god everything he's got in one day's time is gone everything he has kids material things it's all gone verse 20. then job arose i see the devil now can't would you make believe with me can't you see him kind of watch this watch his if he was standing beside god he's elbowing god here it goes god here it goes here here he goes here it goes come on demons come on come on come on come on get gather a moment gather around me oh foul spirits get around because it's about to happen cup your ear of god real good because here it goes then job arose rent his garment watch this he's out of control he rips his garment it's about to happen shaved his head fell back down saying oh he's collapsed on the ground and worshipped now the enemy expects me to complain but what does the enemy think when the complaint doesn't come out oh god i love you god i praise you god what did the enemy think a few sunday mornings ago when i talked to sister roxanne mcknight just a few hours later her husband had been pronounced dead and she opened her mouth and she said brother carpenter god is still good oh the enemy expects us to crumble the enemy expects us to crumble but he worship but wait a minute now you can't worship if you don't have the proper perspective in life things don't make you who you are the moment does not make you who you are job says naked came i out of my mother's womb and naked shall i return thither the lord gave the lord taken away have taken away blessed be the name of the lord he just looked at it and said this i started with nothing you see if you can't worship with nothing you can't worship with something stop waiting to get a certain bank account to get your hands up you're never going to have prosperity until you can worship with what you have right now job said i started with nothing and god has decided to take away now understand this to understand this this morning understand this this morning when job said the lord had taken away does not mean it does not exist we have things disappear sister yates from our sight and we think it doesn't exist anymore it's not there anymore that's not true it's that god has taken it who has it now the best hands it could ever be in god no wonder job could say i started with nothing and i could worship god and now the lord has taken the something away but it just because it's a way doesn't mean it doesn't exist god's just got this sister pool god's got this job was the first you thought you were the first to say it job was the first just to simply look around and say god's got this where's your sheep at job god's got it where's your camel's at job god's got it where's your kids at job you'll notice this notice this god gave job twice as much as he had before with the exception of one thing he did not give he had 10 kids that died he did not give him 10 more kids all right or he did give him 10 kids excuse me he gave him 10 more kids he didn't give him 20 kids all right he took 10 everything that god took he doubled it back he gave him twice as much sheep as he had twice as much camels twice twice twice until it came to his kids and he only gave he job lost 10 kids and god gave job back 10 10 kids but you know what job did have 20 kids he had 10 with the lord in heaven and 10 here on earth so god did god's got this so the enemy expects you when you lose your job to complain that you paid your tithe for 10 years the enemy expects you when when bad things happen to you to look back over what you've done for god and say is this what i get is this what i get for going to church now listen to this some of you that are new to the church some of you that are new to the church get ready for a battle and get ready for things to happen in your life that didn't happen in your life when you were in the world because any time that you stretch out your hand to do something good satan's gonna stretch his hand out to do something bad but he expects you to give up he expects you to complain can i tell you whether you're slipping a hundred dollars in the plate or you're slipping two quarters in the plate get your hands up and magnify god because the enemy expects you oh my god the number one truth that i'd like to leave you with today is that of anything that god values he puts a hedge around he always hedges up anything of value ask adam and eve when he made adam and eve god just didn't let them roam the earth genesis 2 and 8 the bible said the lord god planted a garden eastward in eden and there he put the man whom he had before who had formed garden garden in the hebrew brother erickson simply means a fenced off area that's what it means the hebrew word means fenced and so when god made man he said i value you i value you more than anything else on this earth there's nothing else that has my image but you and i value you and because i value you i place you in a fenced area or a hedged area noah i value your family that's why i put you in the ark because i value your family the word of god the word of god was not laying out there at the altar or laying out there at the the laver the word of god wasn't even in the holy place on the table of shoebread or beside the candlestick or with the incense he values his word so much as a matter of fact this is how much he values his word he has exalted his name huh he exalted his word above his name now we really name people around here rightfully so but he has exalted his word above his name think about it for a moment what good would your name be if your word wasn't any good but he valued adam and eve and put them in the garden fenced them off and he valued noah and his family and put them in an ark and he valued his word and said i don't want my word laying outside i don't want it laying on a table i want my word to be placed inside the ark of the covenant anything god values he places it in something when god came to this earth in the form of a man god placed himself in something of value he placed himself in the womb of a virgin girl mary said unto the angel how shall this be seeing i know not a man the angel answered luke 1 35 the angel answered and said unto her the holy ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee therefore also that holy thing which shall be borne of thee shall be called the son of god behold a virgin and this is matthew 1 23 in something i want you to see this whatever god values this is why our expectation needs to be in the lord because i will look unto the heels from which cometh my help we are not just ain't we are not just defenseless in our world today you as a bloodball spirit-filled water baptized in jesus name child of god you're not just out here easy pickings for the adversary you are like job you have a hedge around you you know why you have a hedge around you you are of value to god and because you are of value to god he puts a hedge around you asks noah asks ask adam and eve ask noah look at how god puts the word inside something now if something comes to my life i stand there and look at everything that comes to my life god you allowed it you have allowed this to come to my life this is a test and a test is meant for a testimony you allowed that cancer cell in my body he knows the hair of the head now we know that we we know today we know today that years ago before science and all things begin to tell us they can take a hair they can take one hair from you and they can tell if you've got drugs in your system so the the what jesus is saying when he said i know the hair of your head he's saying i know everything about you i can i can allow sickness to come to my life and i can let my world fall apart god this is what i get for giving my body to your service god this is what i get for all that i've done for you or i ca that's the expectation and that's the enemy saying man i like that he's complaining he's doubting i i like i really like that but i can stand when that doctor says mr carpenter i i'm sad to inform you but you've got this wrong with you and you've got that wrong i can stand back and say i've got a hedge around me and evidently my mighty god has allowed this to come through that hedge and if he's allowed that to come through my hedge he has done it just for a test in my life and i want to get an a-plus on this test the enemy's expecting that i'll complain i'm going to praise him when i have no understanding i'm going to praise him in the spirit and i'm going to praise him with my understanding i'm going to praise him oh bishop jay frank wilson said there's two times you ought to praise god he said there's only two times you ought to praise god when you feel like it and when you don't there's two times you ought to worship god when you understand him and when you don't understand it there's two times you ought to worship him come on can we do it right now god i love you god i magnify you god lord i praise you lord i thank you lord i magnify you god you're gonna bring my kids back god you're going to bring my marriage back god you're going to bring my job back god you're going to god good things are in the future for me god i'll show you that i can worship you eating a filet mignon and god i can work it worship you opening up a can of pinto beans god i can worship you with a suit from the suit store i can worship you by buying my clothes down at the goodwill god i want you to know i can oh y'all ain't listening to me today come on i can worship your god i can worship you when all my kids are on this pew and i can worship you when they're not on this pew because anything about you anything about you god puts a hedge around it god came to this earth no greater value than god and god played god was placed inside of the womb of a virgin girl and matthew 1 23 would record behold a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call his name emmanuel which being interpreted is god with us anything god values he places it in something second corinthians 5 19 to whit or to understand to understand that god was in christ where was god where god was in christ reconciling the world unto himself not imputing their trespasses unto them and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation now you got to understand something in genesis chapter 3 verse number 1 now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the lord god had said but had made and he said unto the woman yeah hath god said let's stop right here for a moment the serpent is not a creature of the garden he is a creature of the field so therefore god allowed satan to come through the fence the hedge god allowed satan to come through the hedge god allowed the serpent in the garden because a commandment is always given because of temptation god allowed him to come in to tempt and so god said to adam and eve don't eat of the tree it is a commandment but with a commandment comes the adversary all right comes you give commandments because you know there's a temptation not to do that you don't tell your kids at the beginning of the day now you kids don't y'all pray too long today hey kids don't read too many bible verses today you don't say that you say what they may be prone to do don't forget to pray don't forget to read your bible don't forget he allowed god aloud what's satan doing in the garden what's the beast of the field doing in the garden god allowed him to come through the hedge god allowed him to to test to tempt god allowed god allowed that to happen ecclesiastes tells us an interesting thing verse 10 verse chapter 10 verse number eight says that he diggeth a pit he that diggeth the pit shall fall into it whoso breaketh a hedge wait amen who so breaketh the hedge a serpent will buy him which the serpent is in the hedge can i tell you today that there's a place the enemy is trying to get is in the hedge because he knows i can't touch you job as long as the hedge is there and i can't take the hedge down but god if you take the hedge down then i can go in because god places what he loves inside of the hedge adam was bitten and sin came out jesus was bitten and salvation came out when satan bit eve adam and eve from their bloodline flowed death but that's all right god will enclose himself in flesh be born through a virgin's womb be housed in a fleshly body and then god will make some statements god will allow they said we're going to take your life from you he said you're not going to take my life he said i'm going to lay it down he said no man takes my life for me oh they crucified jesus please get on the same page with me he could have at any time stop that but had he stopped it we wouldn't be here this morning we'd still be lost in our trespasses and our sins had he stopped it he willingly laid down his life he willingly stretched out his hands there's no record of roman soldiers having to wrestle his arm down to the cross there there's no record of him trying to run off the hill of calvary he willingly laid down his life you know why willingly laid down his life because adam was bit by sin and death came out and jesus christ was saying go ahead satan go ahead serpent bite bite into me bite into me with your most lethal weapon which is called death go ahead satan bite my heel and inject death into my veins i will succumb because i am flesh i will succumb to death because i am flesh but enclosed in me is the mighty god in christ enclosed in me he was no mortal man he was no mohammed he was no confucius he was no he was no self-proclaimed christ he was the almighty god wrapped in human flesh and the bible says and the bible says in john 13 34 one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side and forth with came there out blood and water he pierced the hedge he pierced the enclosure of the divine almighty god they pierced the body of the lord jesus christ and from that piercing flowed down that side blood and water adam was pierced death flowed jesus was pierced life flowed acts chapter 20 and verse number 28 reads like this pay attention paul says take heed pay attention to therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over the which the holy ghost hath made you overseers to feed the church of god which he hath purchased with his own blood we ought to feel privileged this morning because what bought the church was the blood of the lord jesus christ and the devil can't stand the blood the devil cannot stand the blood he might mess with your shout he might mess with your praise he might mess with your finances but he don't want anything to do with the blood that's why we need to sing about the blood most denominations have taken the blood out of their songbooks most denominations have put handcuffs on their pastors and said don't preach about the blood it turns the early morning stomach of the congregates when you begin to talk about the blood give us a positive mental attitude adjustment give us a life coach tell us what we're doing and how we can become all that we can become but don't tell us about the blood i'm here to tell you ladies and gentlemen today the only value the church has today is that we were bought by the blood what can wash away my sins nothing but the blood of jesus what can make me whole again nothing but the blood of jesus christ satan the blood of jesus is against you i plead the blood i sing about the blood i'm blood bald i i am bought by the blood now please understand something here today please understand rock i will build my church please underline that i will not i have or i am i will build not i have not i not i am not past or present i will build my church he is not when jesus was here for three and a half years please understand this this is going to help connect something really focus on it jesus was not building his church the church was not in existence he didn't own a church because he hadn't spilled his blood he had no church that's what it means that's what that's what it means upon this rock the revelation who i am i will future tense i will future tens build my church the church must be purchased with blood he shed his blood at calvary blood and water came out in john chapter 7 verse number 37 jesus pulls the veil open the bible said in the last day that great day of the feast jesus stood and cried saying if any man thirst let him come unto me and drink he that believeth on me as the scripture has said out of his belly out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water but this spake he of the spirit which they that believe on him should receive for the holy ghost was not yet given because that jesus was not yet glorified the glorification of all glorifications was not water into wine walking on water or raising lazarus the glorifications of all glorifications the proof positive that jesus christ is the flesh of the living god happened on that third day when the stone was rolled away and he that was dead is not dead any longer the resurrection of jesus christ now he is glorified now he tells them these last words don't depart from jerusalem until you be filled with the power from on high because what the blood did the blood paved the highway from earth up into heaven the holy ghost could not yet be given because jesus was not yet glorified there was not a pathway there was not a pathway from earth to heaven but when he died and rose again and shed his blood he created a pathway from earth to heaven and then the church something like this acts chapter 2 and verse number 1 and when the day of pentecost was fully come they were all in one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them in tongues like as a fire and it set upon each of them and they were all filled with the holy ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance remember anything of value god puts a hedge in it adam and eve noah the law in the ark god incarnate god in christ but now the thing of value about us today is the holy ghost and the holy ghost the bible said they were all filled with the holy ghost they were filled their bodies were filled with the holy ghost their soul their spirit was filled with the holy ghost and they began to speak with other tongues as the spirit of god gave the utterance anything of value god places a hedge around it today i'm glad that i've got the holy ghost today i'm glad somebody told me about the mighty baptism of the holy ghost don't get sidetracked with tongues don't get sidetracked with tongues don't get sidetracked with tongues get get to praising god that anything of value he puts it on the inside of you you stand with me this morning the church has an expectation the devil has an expectation but the church has an expectation and the expectation of the church jesus is coming soon jesus is coming soon paul said it this way in romans chapter 8 in verse number eight so then they that are in the flesh cannot please god get out of the flesh today you can't please god in the flesh but ye are not in the flesh but in the spirit if so be that the spirit of god dwell in you now if any man have not the spirit of christ he is none of his for if the spirit be in in you i'm emphasizing it it but and if christ be in you the body is dead because of sin but the spirit is life because of righteousness but if the spirit of him that raised up jesus from the dead dwell in you he that raised up christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his spirit that dwelleth in you that's why i'm preaching the mighty baptism of the holy ghost he put adam and eve in the garden he put noah and his family in an ark he put the word in the ark of the covenant he put god was wrapped in the humanity of christ and the holy ghost today is living on the inside of you and i today the only hope we've got is the god is inside of us it's the only hope that we've got we don't get depressed we don't get depressed as old age comes in upon us we don't look back in depression because we're no longer able to go to the child of god may i preach it as we are walking into the sunset of our lives we're not walking into the ending of our lives we're walking into the beginning of our lives eye has not seen ear has not heard tongue is not told this mortal is going to put on immortality we're going to a place of no more cancer no more death no more crying no more weeping come on let's rejoice today come on let's rejoice today come on rejoice today first thessalonians 4 13. but i would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep that you sorrow not even as others which have no hope for if we believe that jesus died and rose again even so even so them also which sleep sleep where where sleep where in jesus will god bring with him for this we say unto you by the word of the lord that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the lord shall not prevent them which are asleep for the lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout and with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of god and the dead in christ shall rise first then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the lord wherefore comfort one another with these words i am not going to become your life coach i am not going to become a mental positive attitude preacher that's just going to try to pep you up and make you feel like you can do anything i have failed miserably if i fail to tell us that the most valuable thing on earth is the spirit of almighty god and the spirit of almighty god is inside of us today when the trumpet sounds i'm going home with jesus when the trumpet sounds i'm going home with jesus you really believe that if you doubt it don't you ever say about a pregnant woman again she's expecting little couple get married she gets pregnant we we don't we don't use that we will say she's pregnant we say they're ex expecting they're expecting they're getting baby rooms together they're buying baby clothes we're having baby showers because in nine months or so there's gonna be a birth that's why we say we're expecting but can i tell you something spiritually i'm expecting this morning i don't know how much longer we got to go i don't know how much more godless this world is going to be able to get until the lord says enough is enough well i've got oh jesus there's a book there's a little scripture over in revelation that says let him that is just be be just and let him that is unjust be unjust you read that on the surface and wonder what it's saying it's simply saying there's going to come a time when the church has no influence on the world and the world has now just an unjust there's coming a time when there's going to be a group of people that this world has absolutely no effect on and there's coming a time when the church has no effect on the world and it's at that time that he's going to blow a trumpet and only those that have the spirit of god i'm not trying to put anybody i'm not going to scare anybody today but to expect to be ready for the rapture and not have the baptism of the holy ghost is as foolish as you pulling up to a complete stranger's garage and taking your garage door opener and pushing it it's not going to open because your garage door opener is programmed to the frequency at your house but there's coming a there's coming a day he's going to blow a trumpet and a frequency is going to go out all around the world and the dead in christ are coming up out of the ground and then all of a sudden i don't know if it'll happen like this i i'm just but i think i believe that all of a sudden we're going to begin to feel the presence of the lord and we're going to begin to worship him but it's going to intensify until we're changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye i thank you lord today i thank you would you bear your heads with me for a moment pray church those of you that have the baptism of the holy ghost pray right now if you are under the sound of my voice and you are not sure you have the gift of the holy ghost you need to come to this altar today and ask god to give it to you now i promise you if you will come to this altar today i promise you nobody's going to make you do anything just keep praying church keep praying right now i'm going to try to get some folks to come this morning you're here today you don't really know i don't really know if i got the holy ghost or not i don't really know please come right now please come right now it's not just a little trinket of tongues you've got to have the spirit of god in you to be ready for the rapture come on right now come and come out out of your seat right now i'm just unsure i i've just been coming to this church for a few weeks brother carpenter i don't really know somebody told me that i that i did but i've never spoken other holy ghost now i want you to listen to me for a moment there's one other thing you need to make sure you've done you need to make sure you have been water baptized with the name of jesus called out over you for the remission of your sins not joining a church not being baptized because christ was baptized there is a purpose in baptism according to the book of acts and it is for the remission of your sins and it is to put the name of jesus upon you and according to the scripture the only thing coming out of that grave is going to be the bride and a bride has his name so if you're here today we have water we have a change of clothes we are ready to baptize you this morning in jesus name we're ready to baptize you church family let's come down around the altar today maybe some of you would like to come down and pray for the gift of the holy ghost
