you have your Bibles in return with me this morning to the Book of Luke chapter number 11 and we'll begin reading it verses one and two and then we will go to Exodus chapter 20 and verse 9 through 11. you're glad to be a child of God say Amen you're glad to be an overcoming child of God say Amen the overcoming child of God I want to say in conjunction with the message today that the 21 days of prayer that have been scheduled for months is such a tremendous power and presence in these early morning from Monday to Friday from 6 30 a.m to 8 30 a.m such a wonderful presence of God that is met here in this place and we'll begin and we'll start right back up next in the morning Monday morning in prayer God is certainly doing great Mighty things Luke chapter 11 and verse number 1. and he came to pass that as he was praying in a certain place when he ceased one of his disciples said unto him Lord teach us to pray sound like a good request doesn't it Lord teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples and he said unto them when ye pray say our father which art in heaven Hallowed Hallowed be thy name Hallowed be thy name that's my title for today Halloween be thy name a little boy came home from Sunday school sister Sutton he's told his mother he said we learned God's name today in Sunday school she said well that's wonderful I said what is his name she he said Howard Howard said yes and the teacher told us to say Our Father which art in Heaven Howard be thy name so I want to teach today on Hollywood Hallowed be thy name father I love you this morning God I lay my hands upon the prayer request God that I've written down lord you know all the needs of this church today you know every one of them lord lord your spirit moved through here after the choir sang and God your presence was felt and Lord only you and people know what was done in that tremendous move of your spirit Lord the next few moments help me to feed your people with knowledge of the word of God help me God to feed them with knowledge today that we can go home and shine a greater light for you in Jesus wonderful name we pray amen give God a hand of Praise before you're seated would you please now Exodus chapter 20 and verse number 9. six days shout thou labor and do all thy Work but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God I got a little I got a little afraid a few moments ago brother Hammond when he got talking about the Sabbath I thought get off my subject get off my subject but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God in it Thou shalt not do any work thou nor thy son nor thy daughter thy certain men servant nor thy maidservant nor thy cattle nor thy nor thy stranger that is within thy Gates for in six days the Lord made Heaven and Earth and the Sea and all that in them is and rested the seventh day wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath and hallowed it now these two words hallowed these two words are like bookends they're like bookends in your Bible the first time you hear the word hallowed in the Old Testament is the verse that I just gave you that pertain to the Sabbath day the last time that you will hear the word hallowed is in the New Testament and it has to do with when we begin to pray Our Father which Who Art in Heaven which art in heaven Halloween be thy name I believe that God has something to speak to us today about a name being hallowed and a day being hallowed that God has something that will speak to us of course let me give you the definition of the word hallowed it means to set apart it means to become completely completely unique to separate from profane things and dedicate to God to set apart when we say hallowed to set apart completely unique in other words there is not another one like this to separate from profane things and dedicate to God and when we begin to talk about the name of the Lord we understand today that the highest exalted name of the Lord is Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the highest exalted name that the Lord has given to man as a matter of fact this name is so unique this this name is so unique that the Bible says in Acts chapter 4 verse number 12 that neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name there's no other I guess that would make him that would make the name of Jesus very unique that there's no other name under Heaven that's been given among men whereby we must be saved now names today don't mean quite what they meant in Bible times but a name the name hallowed separate unique be thy name the name represents the whole character of God the whole person the whole character it it means it means more than just simply an identification it represents his entire his entire character now as you study the Bible you'll find out and sometimes sometimes you will hear this on tabloid news but you will hear breaking news we have discovered the tomb of Jesus Christ and bones are in this tomb don't doubt that don't doubt that we've got we've got inscriptions this is the Tomb of Jesus don't doubt that because Jesus was a common name in the New Testament it was a common name it it was an interpretation of the name of of the name of Joshua it was an interpretation it means of the Lord has become our salvation but there were others even in the New Testament you find others that are being identified that are being identified as Jesus but yet what makes him so unique is he is simply just not Jesus he is Jesus the Christ he is Jesus the Christ he will not find Jesus the Christ bones because he took those with him when he left this Earth he goes by many names in the Bible here's just a few he's Jesus the savior he's the Redeemer he's the bread of life he goes by the Lord Jesus he's the Creator he is identified as the son of the Living God he is identified as the only begotten son he is identified as the Beloved son he has identified as a Holy One of Israel he has identified as the wonderful counselor the Mighty God the Everlasting father the Prince of Peace he is identified as the King of Kings so his name Hallowed be thy name when you say Jesus and your faith is upon God you have opened the door to everything that's in God's vault everything that God possesses do you need salvation it's in that name do you need healing it's in that name do you need Deliverance it's in that name do you need a comforter it's in that name do you need guidance it's in that name what are you trying to say I'm trying to say no wonder he said when you begin to pray say our father Hallowed be thy name could you give him a hand of Praise right now hallowed me thy name Philippians 2 9 says wherefore God hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every which is above every name so we understand About the Name of Jesus today hallowed unique set apart be thy name today I'm glad to know the name of Jesus I'm glad to know that I can call on that name I don't have to go through anybody else to call on that name I can call on that name his name is Jesus could we just love him for a moment today with hands lifted as high as you can come on would you love the name of Jesus today in this Auditorium Hallowed be that name Hallowed be that name no other name like the name no other name like the name of Jesus well we come to the Old Testament now we go to the bookend of hallowed the Old Testament Moses is giving the Ten Commandments The Ten Commandments is like the it's like the Declaration of Independence it's like the Bill of Rights it's uh it's the document that governed Israel it was the governing factor of Israel it was those Ten Commandments that God gave that were to govern a delivered people God didn't just bring them out of bondage and say go live any way that you want to live no he brought them out of bondage and then he said now let me give you the Ten Commandments let me give you something that you are to live your life by you're to have no other gods before me and if you really look at the Commandments in a positive way they're not negative they're they're positive because if you believe his Commandments you'll never go searching for another God for there is no other God but one and so here in Exodus chapter 20 and verse number 9 God gives the Commandment he says six days shout thou labor and do all thy work now when you understand where they came from in Egypt they shouted for that now some of us here some of us westerners we're thinking six days we work five days now now you really work six days if you're a good husband because at six days a honeydew list day I don't know about you but I would trade a lot of Saturdays for a Friday any day of the week amen but you've got a group of slaves that never were given any days off no days off and for them to hear that the god they embraced was not going to require them to work seven days but the god that they served said six days shalt thou labor six days shalt thou labor six days shout out labor and do all thy Work but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God in it Thou shalt do Thou shalt not do any work Sabbath means rest it means to rest it is the rest of the Lord it is the rest of the Lord in it Thou shalt do no work thou you nor thy Sons nor thy daughters nor thy man's servant nor thy maidservant nor thy cattle nor the stranger that is within thy Gates now just do you start to get a hint if this is a positive verse here and it is you're not going to labor seven days you're going to only labor six days then on the seventh day you're going to enter into the Sabbath which is the Lord's rest but this is not only for you it's for you and your wife and this is not only for you and your wife but it's for your sons and your daughters and this is not only for your sons and your daughters but this is for the maidservants and the men servants and this is not only for those that are Jewish but this is also to The Strangers The Strangers that are in Israel I don't know about you but I begin to hear Joel and it shall come to pass in the last days that I will pour out of my spirit upon All Flesh this is a promise that God is given that goes to Sons and Daughters man's servants made servants strangers then verse 6 for in six days the Lord made Heaven and Earth and this sea and all that in them is and rested the seventh day wherefore the Lord blessed the seventh day or the Sabbath day and Hollywood hallowed it now look at the bookends we have a book in one is the name Hallowed be thy name now we have a day a Sabbath day that he said I want you to hallowed this day that's very interesting that in the original Genesis 1 and 3 1 2 and 1 when he gave the Sabbath day that he doesn't use the term Hollywood it just simply says that you are to keep it holy to keep it holy now that's interesting because the first time the word holy is used is in reference to time time if the Sabbath day has to do with time then God said you can keep time holy now we're we we very well understand that buildings will say this is a holy place of worship uh we'll say certain parts are holy we'll say people are holy but we have to grasp but what we are doing here that involves time is just not ordinary time this is Under The Canopy of holy it's interesting that seventh day that seventh day is interesting because you'll never find as you do the first six days of creation the first six days of creation all come to an end the the evening and the morning were the first day or the evening in the morning where the second day but you'll never find the ending oh Hallelujah of the seventh day because the seventh day represents the rest that God has extended to man you'll never find an end to that Sabbath an end an end to that rest as a matter of fact going further on this subject of the Sabbath day and to keep it holy to guard it holy we find in the Bible that the matter of Life One lived the way one lived Godly or ungodly was connected to whether or not they kept the Sabbath day imagine that how people lived if they lived Godly you would look at them and say that's a Sabbath day keeper there he he lives Godly he got his instructions from the Sabbath day he's a he's a Sabbath day keeper if you saw somebody that was living ungodly you begin to say well they've been missing the Sabbath they've not been obeying they've not been obeying the Sabbath just travel with me for a moment to the Book of Ezekiel chapter 20 and verse 21 this is is brought to light and the children of Israel how they rebelled Ezekiel 20 and verse number 21. notwithstanding the children of Israel rebelled everybody say rebelled they rebelled against who me God they walk not if I say not they walk not in my statues neither kept my judgments to do this I stopped there it's a comma but let's stop there and here's the people what kind of people are they rebellious what kind of people are they they don't walk in God's principles or God's laws what kind of people are they don't they don't keep God's judgments which if a man do he shall even live in them they polluted my sabbaths no wonder there are people that's rebellious no wonder there are people that don't live by principle no wonder there are people that don't live by guidelines why they have polluted God's Sabbath and in polluting God's Sabbath it affected the way they lived can I tell you something this morning on a day that we would refer to as our Sabbath day it does matter whether you come to church or not it does matter whether you attend the house of the Lord it's not just your attendance here it's what you get to hear when you're here and what you get to feel when you're here and what you get to see in your here that causes you doesn't that make sense to you today they're rebellious they're not they don't live by principles because because they obeyed not they obeyed not the Sabbath look at Leviticus chapter 19 and verse number 3. ye shall fear or respect you shall fear or respect every man his mother and his father and keep my Sabbath I am the Lord your God where was a child going to be taught to respect his mother and father where was a child going to be taught the very first promise the excuse me the very first commandment honor thy father that thy days may be long upon the land and you would do good in the land where was a child to hear that in the house of God when on the Sabbath day can we understand today can we understand today that we don't need to look to society to train our children God almighty God I hope not we don't need to we don't need to think that a Disney movie is going to tell our sons and our daughters how to live where are they going to hear it at then church I got news for you bring them to the Sabbath bring them into the house of God somewhere they're going to be taught that they are to honor their father and their mother Leviticus chapter 26 verse number two here's a plain commandment ye shall keep my sabbaths now let's stop right there for a moment what I do on Sunday I just go I just go driving through the mountains me and Jesus and Cades Cove we have a great time there and that's all well and good but you got to read the whole thing ye shall keep my Sabbath and reverence my sanctuary in other words you can't have a Sabbath outside of God's house because it's in God's house that the full purpose of a Sabbath is to take place the full purpose of a Sabbath is to take place excuse me Ezekiel 44 20. and in controversy as Ezekiel 20 excuse me 44 24. and in controversy they shall stand in judgment and they shall judge it according to my judgments and they shall keep my laws and my statues and in all my assemblies and they shall hallow my Sabbath that hallowed means this is a unique day there's not another day like Sunday there's not another day now now I know what may be going through people's minds is now brother Carpenter the Sabbath is Saturday the Sabbath they they did obey was the Sabbath was Saturday but when Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath and I'll get to that in just a moment the New Testament Church did not worship in the Old Testament day of Sabbath but they worshiped on the first day of the week which was the day of the Resurrection but we still keep the principle of the Sabbath the Sabbath was not just God rested and God wants you to rest but the Sabbath is what we are to enter into that rest it's what we get on the Sabbath day that makes the Sabbath day important now follow closely Exodus said in six days shall you work everybody say that's me all right in six days shall you work and on the seventh day shall you rest all right you understand with me this morning that when we obey when we obey the Sabbath that man begins to resemble he is God and just stay with me for a moment how many days did God work and he rested on the seven in the fourth Commandment he says to you to work how many days six days and to rest on the Sabbath so now man begins this commandment man resembles his God when he works six days and rested on the seventh but the seventh day was not a day off it was a day devoted to the things of God most importantly reading and teaching of the word of God now you say well you're saying we we resemble God absolutely just like when they asked me uh what religion are you I say Christianity Christianity well what is Christianity Christ eness Now understand understand this morning that no man can be God but we can live our lives to be like God I understand today no man can be the Christ but the Bible says in the book of Acts and they were called Christians at Antioch so when I begin to obey the Sabbath when I begin to do what's what what is happening on the Sabbath I become like my God I become Christ like I hope you're I hope you're getting this today this is what happened on the Sabbath Luke chapter four it wasn't just a lazy day off it wasn't just nobody did anything Luke chapter 4 verse number 16. and Jesus came to Nazareth where he had been brought up and as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up for to read what was happening on the Sabbath day the reading of the word of God my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge Hosea said and because they have rejected knowledge I have rejected them can I tell you that not every sermon here is going to be a fast machine gun preaching worded sermon or be a sermon that's going to cause you to to want to stand up and shout sometimes the Bible we're just going to give some good Bible teaching that we're going to be able to say that's how my God wants me to walk that's how my God wants me to act that's how my God wants me to love that's how my God wants me to give and that's how we follow Acts Chapter 13 Verse 27. I give this next verse just for those folks it'll say well that was in the Old Testament that Jesus was under the law right there well Acts chapter 13 verse 27 they're not under the law they're under the grace dispensation the same that we are right now acts 13 27 for they that dwelt at Jerusalem and the rulers because they knew not him nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read how many sabbaths every Sabbath day they have fulfilled them in condemning him now this is a verse of scripture that says they should have been listening on the Sabbath day all right so I thank you for your attendance but please give God your undivided attention I thank you that you can say I'm here from 10 to 12. I I thank you for that but you'll miss who Jesus is if you don't listen on the Sabbath day they went these these rulers went to the Sabbath day they heard they heard the Old Testament prophets they heard Moses talk about God was going to raise up a prophet like unto me they heard all the Prophecies of Jesus Christ but because they were not listening when he came they rejected him because they were not listed even Jesus said once when they were questioning his identity he said would you all search the scriptures for in them you think you have life but these are they which testify of me what's he saying here in Acts chapter 13 27 he says they went to Sabbath they went to the synagogue but they didn't listen in the synagogue could I tell every serious child of God get a Bible get a Bible the Bible on our phone is good I've got many bibles on my phone I've got many bibles on my iPad you know Paul didn't have an eye Pad but he did have an eye press he said I pressed toward the mark you know it's good to have a Bible on your phone it's good to have a Bible on your iPad and all that that's all well and good but a phone can also have other books on it a phone can it's supposed to be for calling folks so a phone can have multi-purpose it too your iPad can have multi-purposes to it but you see this Bible right here it only has one purpose to it and that's for me to study God's word every serious Bible student ought to have a Bible and they ought to bring Pen and Paper to church with them and they ought to take notes you may be seated this morning but you see we're going to miss out on life young people because you're going to be faced with some decisions in the world that you're going to have needed the knowledge from the Sabbath day teaching to be able to say no I heard about that decision I heard what happens to me if I make that decision I heard what happens to me if I do this or do that come on we need not only to attend the Sabbath day but we need to give God our undivided attention and we need to listen on the Sabbath day Acts chapter 15 verse 21. for Moses of old time hath in every city of them that preach him being read in the synagogue every Sabbath day Acts chapter 17 verse 2 and Paul as his manner was went unto them and three sabbaths he run a three-week Revival and through Sabbath reason with them out of the scripture acts 18 and 4. and he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks now we have thoroughly I hope I've thoroughly connected that when we come to our Sabbath day here that there should be the preaching and the teaching of God's word but the preacher is only part of getting a touchdown in your life you can have a good quarterback but you got to have some good receivers right and and you can have you can you can have I hope I'm a good preacher and I'm not wanting any kind of I'm anything said right now I try to be but I'll do my best you try to do your best and if I try to do my best and you try to do your best we're going to make a touchdown in life I'm going to give you the word you're going to catch the word the word's going to change your life and we're going to make things great Jesus Christ in Colossians chapter 2 and verse 16. there were people that wanted to go back and this would only be for those that want to be confrontational about which day we should Worship On can I tell you sister Patterson now that Jesus has come and fulfilled the law I worship every day we worship every day now we gather together as a corporate body on Sundays Sundays could be considered I thought about this didn't put it in my notes but I thought about this it's not an option about a Sabbath he said you need to keep the Sabbath that would be the that would be like that would be like tithing I don't decide I don't decide that what I make decides that right I don't decide that what I make besides that but Wednesday be like an offering wouldn't it be like be like it be like an offering you see we we on Wednesday evening we we study the word of God together now they the Pastoral team has come up with a wonderful breakout sessions after we all Gather in here on Wednesday nights and we all Worship the Lord we have breakout sessions for every age group now that's not just a babysit we don't believe in just babysitting but on their level the way that they can receive the word they're receiving they're receiving the word and many times it is in conjunction with what I'm teaching here but it's just simply given on their level how many want your children and grandchildren to be brought up with the word of the Lord now Paul addressed in Colossians chapter 2 verse 16. he said let no man judge you and meet or in drink or in respect of any holy day or of the new moon or of the Sabbath days now this the reason being there were certain drink offerings you had to come bring to God and I've seen some folks want to go to this and say well I'm a Christian and I drink alcohol and the Bible says don't judge me and drink will you have horribly murdered that verse all right you have you have horribly joined Johnny James God Rest his soul he was on a plane one time and a person claiming to be a Christian ordered uh ordered uh a little bottle of avakia and saw brother James with his Bible open and wanted to justify himself and he said he said well you know I'm a Christian and said Jesus turned the water into wine and brother James told me he just reached over and got that little bottle of vodka and smelt it and he said sir that is not wine that is whiskey that is liquor don't judge me for what I'm drinking well this was the drink offering they poured out to the Lord this was the drink offering and when when this verse 17 happened he said you're not to judge and meat or drink or respect of any holy day or new moon or Sabbath days verse 17 which are a shadow follow this now which are a shadow of things to come but the body is of Christ in other words he's Paul is saying don't let somebody tell you what day to worship or not worship on don't let somebody judge you because you don't bring meal offerings or drink offerings to God anymore don't let somebody judge you because you're not observing all of the Jewish feast days that they were said don't let anybody judge you in that said because Christ has come and he is the embodiment of Passover he's of the embodiment of Pentecost he's the embodiment of Yom Kippur he's in the embodiment of all the Jewish feast days that you could ever want to celebrate Jesus Christ is the embodiment of all of those aren't you thankful today to know that not only is his name hallowed but the Sabbath day is Halloween oh yes now now in Hebrews 4 in Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 1 Hebrews 4 and 1. he says let us therefore fear lest a promise being left us of entering into his somebody say that word with me if you're looking at it into his rest any of you should seem to come short of it rest For unto them excuse me for unto us was the Gospel preached as well as unto them but the word preached did not profit them not being mixed with faith in them that heard it for we which have believed do enter into rest what do Believers enter into rest as he said now said the Believers enter into the rest as he said as I have sworn in my wrath if they shall enter into my rest although the works were finished from the foundation of the world and he spake in a certain place on the seventh day on this wise God did rest the seventh day from all his works now we begin to understand a bigger picture of creation and of the Sabbath day God Almighty wanted man to have a day of interaction with him of interaction receiving the word reflecting back on the weak reflecting forward or looking forward to what could be but you did it all in the mode and in the frame of worship oh thank God that once a week we get to come to this building and baptize our minds in what is Right throughout the week individually the adversary can pick at our minds and you're all alone and you're all by yourself and you're the only one going through this and this this but thank God we can come together on Sunday and we gather with people of light of light precious faith we look around here and you're trying to serve God and I am too and you're trying to raise your family to live for God and I am too and you're trying to make Heaven your home and I am too isn't it wonderful to come oh what a God we serve oh what a God we serve oh what a God we serve Genesis 2. verse number three I want you to pay real close attention to this and God blessed the seventh day and Sanctified it because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made to the English readers to even Hebrew Scholars this verse here is a little redundant why not say at the very end from all his work which God created put a period there put a period there why do you have to add and made doesn't everything doesn't everything which God created create doesn't it cover all doesn't it cover the whole totality of it why does it say made it's after a lot of study on this of Hebrew Scholars and and Scholars of the word that they said this is not being redundant that on the Sabbath day that has no ending you don't hear where it says and the morning and the evening were the seventh day the Sabbath day has no ending because God's promise of rest to man has no ending in other words God made available an opportunity to be saved on the Sabbath day God made available an opportunity to be delivered to be healed to be comforted and the list could go on and on it is an opportunity on the Sabbath day and now it's just not given to this day but we do give you an opportunity to be saved today if you are lost today and you're wanting to be saved we can give you two verses of scripture that can lead you on the way believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ he is the truth the light and the way well I I I'll tell you three scriptures is the truth the light and the way there's no way to heaven but by him you can't be saved through any other name you can't be saved through any other person you can't be saved through any other teaching if you're going to make Heaven your home it's got to be through the Lord Jesus Christ he is death he is burial and his resurrection I'm gonna tell you though that may be common to you today there are multi-millions of people that need to hear it's not in this false religion and in that false religion it's not in this philosophy or that philosophy it is in the Lord Jesus Christ what an opportunity what an opportunity that's been given to us today and after you've believed I've got one verse of scripture and I'll try to be stay truthful on that one acts 2 38. then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sin and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost you know why the Sabbath has no ending because that rest is still being offered to you today are you weary put your faith in him are you troubled put your Worship in him do you need anything from God to rest the rest is available today look at this the name and the day are combined the name and the day are combined Matthew 11 28 listen to Jesus listen very closely to him Jesus says in Matthew 11 28 come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest take my yoke upon you and learn of me where am I going to learn get down to the house of God on the Sabbath day and learn of me for I am meek and lonely lowly I'm not an oh I'm not somebody that's wanting to send you to Hell get that imagery of God out of your mind he's not wanting you to go to hell he came Rogue himself in flesh and died on a rugged old cross so that you don't have to go to hell today he's done everything why right now while I'm preaching his spirit is moving through this building it's moving through the pews some of you've had to wipe a tear out of your eye some of you've got an uncomfortable feeling in your gut right now that's because God is safe I don't want you to be lost I don't want you to spend another day without me oh come on give him praise today in the house of the Lord give him praise this morning in the house of the Lord here's the opportunity here's the day today is your day today is your day you can receive the Holy Ghost here this morning you can be baptized in Jesus name here this morning you can spend some time in the altar today and let God give you strength in the house and the Lord aren't you weary today aren't you weary listen if you've got a trial you haven't given to Jesus I'll answer that for you you are weary if you're living life without Jesus without the Sabbath you are weary you're Sleepless you're troubled but when rest and the name comes together I don't think it's a coincidence that the word hallowed unique none like him Hollywood is in the Old Testament and book ends in the New Testament one has a day and the other has a name you understand now maybe this scripture will cause your eyebrows to raise a little bit more the next time somebody gets up and says this is the day at the Lord has made let's rejoice and be exceedingly glad oh friend oh let's just love him right now all because a name and a day came together in the man Christ Jesus a name and a day came together say his name what a wonderful name what a saving name what a delivering name it will trouble you when your world is falling apart it'll comfort you in the ways of this world come on worship His name this morning what a lovely name I don't know as you try to enter into the world of someone who is physically blind physically blind thank God we live in the day that we live if someone is physically blind we live in the most advanced age to help people with with uh with handicap of being blind not being able to see and uh but I'm going to tell you about a man this morning that wasn't born in such a day we live in such a wonderful day of anyone who's impaired there's the latest technology the latest Technologies of Braille and and seeing eye dogs and all of all of that and all of those things but what about if you had been born in a day Brother John when to be born with any impairment whether it was hearing being able to walk or seeing when people when they said I tell you I got it I may be blind but Mom and Daddy took me down to the to the synagogue on the Sabbath day and I heard about a man that was going to come out of the loins of David he would be called
