well if you remain standing with me this evening and if you're not standing I would like to ask in honor of God's Great word if you're physically able to stand if you're physically able to stand if you would stand for the reading of God's word I going to begin in the Book of Psalms The Book of Psalms chapter number four and we will begin reading at verse number one I'm going to read three texts tonight one from Psalms one from Matthew and one from Mark Psalms 4 verse number one David Cries Out hear me when I call oh god of my righteousness thou Hast enlarged me when I was in distress have mercy upon me I want you to repeat those three words this there have well that's four words didn't do so good and math did I have mercy upon let's say those four words again have and hear my prayer Matthew 15 verse 21 Matthew 15 verse 21 then Jesus went F and departed into the coast of Ty and siden and behold a woman of Canaan came out of the same coast and Cried unto him say let's say the next four words have mercy on me oh Lord thou son of David my daughter is grievously vexed with the devil Mark chapter 10 and verse number 47 Mark chap 10 and verse number 47 and when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth he began to cry out and say Jesus thou son of David say the last say those next four words have mercy on me have mercy on me let's pray right now father we love you tonight we thank you for your word Lord your word is our compass in life when we've lost our Direction your word is our Compass Lord when we're groping in the darkness God your word is our light Lord I pray that for the next few moments that you would anoint your servant that I may speak and teach your word tonight and Lord if you'll use me I will be ever so mindful to give you you all the praise and the honor and the glory for no flesh shall glory in your presence in Jesus name we pray amen and amen you may be seated you're aware that for several weeks now we have been in study of prayer we've been in we've been in study for the last several weeks as a matter of fact it may be the last several maybe the last month or so uh every time I have stood stood here on a midweek service I have ministered to you on the subject of the subject of prayer a prayer I do believe I do believe that prayer holds the answer for every situation in life prayer holds the keys prayer holds the answers so I have decided on this Wednesday evening to take several scriptures and begin to dissect them because these are prayers these are prayers that are prayed and so I decided to take several scriptures and just simply dissect them because they're they're prayers and and uh their they effective prayers they were prayers that were answered uh all three of these texts that I Ed tonight from Psalms Matthew and Mark all three of these prayers all three of them got answer David in Psalms 4 was having horrendous family trouble horrendous family trouble of course you you know we're living in the day that the most dreaded call that a police officer will get it has to do with domestic violence because that is running that is running rampant uh in our world today domestic violence is running rampant and so David has raised a son by the name of absolum and absum has uh absum has overthrown his own Daddy's uh Kingdom and has taken over and has caused David a world of trouble he has caused David a world of trouble and uh in Psalms chapter 4 David cries out in a prayer and we're going to disect this prayer he simply says hear me when I call oh God my righteousness thou Hast enlarged me when I was in distress Now watch how he preface this this have mercy upon me and hear my prayer he calls out for Mercy he calls out for Mercy this is this is interesting when we begin to study the word mercy the word mercy simply is asking God God would you see me through your eyes would you would you God would you see me through the eyes of compassion Through The Eyes Of God would you see me so that word mercy is simply saying David is saying God would you see me through your loving eyes would you see me through your kind eyes and of course we know that he prefaces he he puts have mercy upon me before he says Hear My Prayer in other words David was saying God I don't have I don't have a chance of getting a prayer answered if you don't see me through the eyes of Mercy we know that God answered that prayer David was brought back to the kingdom we know that there was a woman in the Book of Matthew that was a woman in the Book of Matthew that she was a Canaanite and she came to Jesus Jesus and she had a daughter that was grievously vexed with the devil doesn't say that that she was just vexed with the devil it was Grievous grievously vexed with the devil and we know that in Matthew 15 and 22 she comes to Jesus and she Cried unto him and the first word she said was not my daughter is grievously vexed to the devil my daughter my daughter is trying to kill herself my daughter is this my daughter is is that she did not begin that Prayer by saying my daughter is grievously vexed to the devil in verse 22 sister Carpenter she begins that prayer with that simple statement Lord have mercy on me have mercy upon me then we know that in Mark chapter 10 we know that in Matthew 15 21 and 22 the woman the sish woman got her prayer answered David got his prayer answered so I would say tonight that these are successful prayers that were prayed David got his prayer prayer answered the syap phenician woman got her prayer answered her daughter got delivered from the bondage of Satan here in Mark chapter 10 we have a blind man that's sitting by the roadside begging and uh he asked who's passing by and they told him Jesus Jesus of Nazareth is passing by and the Bible says in verse 47 when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth he be to cry out and say Jesus I'm blind Jesus I'm in need he didn't start his prayer that way he started his Prayer by simply saying Jesus thou son of David what did he say say those words with me now have on and and the Bible says he was healed of his blindness now these are three successful prayers I don't know about you I can answer for myself tonight I want to pray successfully when I pray I want to pray I want to get success in my prayers I I want to get my prayers answered and and so I I think I have stumbled upon a key to success is when we go to God In Prayer we have to first approach him and ask him to see us Through The Eyes of Mercy See Me Through The Eyes of Mercy well that begin to trigger some some thoughts in me that all these prayers that were prayed and I and I just I I just extracted a few of them from the Bible there's many more prayers that were answered that all begin with the man or the woman crying out have mercy upon me but then I got triggered back to the Book of Exodus when God was giving Moses the instructions on building the Tabernacle the Tabernacle was that place that God would live on earth God would dwell on Earth in Exodus CH 25 and verse 17 God is speaking to Moses if you follow along God says to Moses in verse 17 and thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof and a cubit and a half shall be the breath thereof and thou shalt make two cherubims these are angels of gold of beaten work shalt thou make them in the two ends of the mercy seat and one make one cherub on the one end and the other cherub on the other end even the Mercy Seat shall you make the cherubims on the two ends there thereof and the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings these angels shall stretch to forth their wings on high covering the mercy seat so if you can see in your your mind's eye these these cherub that wings were to make kind of an arch that would be over that would be over The Mercy Seat covering the mercy seat with their wings and their faces shall look one to another toward The Mercy Seat shall the faces of the chams be and thou shalt Put The Mercy Seat above the ark and in the ark Thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee and there I will meet with thee and I will commune with thee from Above The Mercy Seat from between the two cherubims which are upon the Arc of the testimony of all things which I give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel now I want you to see this tonight the Ark of the Covenant was not one piece of furniture it was not one piece it was actually two pieces the the piece of the furniture that was called The Ark was simply like a shoe box it was a shoe box that held the law that held Aaron's robod that budded but it had no lid he said make the ark and they made the ark he gave the dimensions how wide how wide how long uh how tall it was to be but that was what's considered to be just simply the ark then he said I want you to make a mercy seat I want you to make a mercy seat and this Mercy Seat he gave them the dimensions which would cover the opening which would cover which would cover the opening gave you the the length of it and the width of it and gave it all of that that would cover but there's one and it's interesting there's one dimension that was not given how thick the lid would be the thickness of the lid no man knows to this day and the reason many scholars believe that the thickness of the lid is not given in measurement is that the lid represented the mercy and that you cannot put a measurement on the depth of the mercy of almighty God and so on this lid was not only just a flat lid that covered the ark but connected to the lid beaten of gold was two cherubims one on each end these cherubims or Angels they were they were placed on the end made of solid gold just like the lid was and they came up on each end of the lid and they came up and their wings would stretch out and touch one another creating if you could just visualize the pull pit as the Ark of the Covenant and then and These Wings come like this they Arch over like this and then the faces of the cherubim were looking down at the mercy the face as we're looking down at the at the uh at the mercy or the ark or the Ark of the Covenant now this is interesting because each of these prayers that were prayed began with God have mercy upon me and we know that when we begin to pray that we are in the presence of God he said when you pray say Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name in the Old Testament they they started from the outside of the Tabernacle and worked into the holy of holies but in the New Testament we start our prayers in the holy of holies do you know that the Ark of the Covenant was the first piece of furniture that God gave the instructions for it was the very first piece of furniture now the the Ark of the Covenant was not the first piece of furniture that you you encountered as you made your way into the Tabernacle you first encountered the Brazen altar but it's amazing that God said I want to start with the first thing I want to start where you're going to end I want to start in the holy of holies so now here we are in the New Testament we're not at the Brazen altar when we start when we begin to pray we say Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name in other words we're going directly into the holy of holies there now this is interesting because these prayers that were successful all began the one that was prayed in the Old Testament David absum and then the two that were prayed in in I say the New Testament but in actuality uh it wasn't the New Testament they were still in the they were still in the Old Testament then and but these prayers that were prayed all begin with have mercy upon me and now here we find here we find that God begins with telling them about The Mercy Seat well let's let's go ahead and talk about the mercy seat for for for just a moment this Mercy Seat God's seat because remember let me Let me refresh your memory just for a moment I know we read it but uh Exodus 25 and go to 22 because this is what makes the mercy seat so important and there and there I will meet with thee that there is The Mercy Seat and there I will meet with thee and will commune with thee from Above The Mercy Seat from between the two cherubs which upon the Ark of the testimony of all things which I give in commandment unto the children of Israel so now let's let's just look at several verses of scripture about this Mercy Seat in Psalms chapter 80 verse number one the psalmist said give ear oh Shepherd of Israel that leadest Joseph like a flock that dwellest between the cherubims shine forth they all in the Old Testament when they had when they would address the dwelling place of God it was always between the cherubs Above The Mercy Seat we see this in Psalms 80 And1 let's move let's move a few verses chapters to Psalms 99 and verse one listen to the psalmist the Lord reth that means he rules the Lord reth let the people tremble he God sth between the cherubims let the Earth be moved so these verses are showing you this is where God is is on The Mercy Seat now to me to to to to to me students tonight the light is coming on why these prayers were so successful is that they began where God was dwelling have mercy upon me they didn't they didn't start off by saying my daughter's grievously vexed of a devil or I'm blind or I've got family trouble they begin with where God would dwell and that is simply have mercy upon me oh God I don't know about you tonight but I'm going to answer for myself I'm going to tell you anytime I come in the presence of God I sure do need to just tell the Lord right off the bat Lord see me through your eyes God lord see me through the loving eyes of compassion and love it was Hezekiah was Hezekiah in 2 Kings 19 and verse 15 listen to hezekiah's prayer 2 Kings 19 and verse 15 and Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said oh Lord God of Israel which dwelleth between between the cherubims Thou Art the god even thou alone of all the kingdoms of the earth thou Hast made Heaven and Earth now we've through scripture told you that God dwells on The Mercy Seat now let's bring some understanding to the cherubims let's bring some understanding to the angels the cherubims in Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number 13 Paul addresses angels He addresses Angels let me tell you somebody said Bo K do you believe in angels absolutely have you ever seen one I have not but I strongly believe in angels what makes you so sure angels exist well it's simple my friend the Bible says they exist all right I've never seen an angel I've never I've never seen an angel uh I'm married to one but I've never seen an angel all right I I I've never seen one I've never seen God I've never seen I've never seen an angel uh but Angels do exist right come on it would do you good to say yes to that Angels do it they do exist yes yes yes yeah they do exist now why do they exist Hebrews one chapter 1 verse 13 but to which of the Angels said he at any time now he's what what he's comparing here is how Superior Jesus Christ is to Angels which to the of the Angels said he at any time sit on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy foot stool the answer to that is he never said that to any Angel then in verse 14 he gives the purpose the definition for angels are they the angels are they not all ministering Spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be Heirs of Salvation so what are angels they are spirits that are sent forth to minister to us I am going to be an heir of Salvation I'm doing my best with the help of God to make Heaven my home and everybody that I can get a hold of to make Heaven our home and guess what I've got on my side I not only have the Holy Ghost Within but the Bible says we have ministering look at verse 14 ministering Spirits Angels now we know by Colossians 1:16 that Angels were created angels were created by God God created angels angels are not Eternal as God is angels are created Spirit beings that God that God created Colossians 1:16 for by him God were all things created that are in heaven and that are in Earth visible and invisible the invisible is the ministering Spirits whether there be Thrones or dominions or principalities these are the Angels or Powers all things were created by Him to him as God and and and for him now we've already established what would be the purpose for God to create Angels because God has a church and God has a people and through history's time God has sent those ministering spirits to help us down here on Earth amen also what are these Spirits for protecting the helpless protecting the helpless protecting the helpless Matthew 18 and10 Jesus said take take heed that you despise not one of these little ones talking about children for I say unto you that in heaven their Angels do always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven so God has angels to protect the helpless to protect those that are helpless but not only that God has angels to Proclaim CL his message look with me in Revelation 14 and verse 6 and this is after the Rapture we could categorize these as the tribulation Saints because there will be Saints and don't get it confused with the church the bride of Christ I'm glad to be a part of the body of Christ I'm glad to identify myself as the bride of Christ what makes what's the difference between the bride of Christ and tribulation Saints well it's simple tribulation Saints will not be given the opportunity to be baptized in jesus' name and to be filled with the Holy Ghost they will make it to Heaven because they have endured tribulation they will not be identified in heaven as the bride of Christ we will hold a special identity in heaven as the bride of Christ as the bride of Christ what makes us the bride of Christ we have taken on on his name we have his name that that on July the 20th 1984 she took my name on she went from being Penny Lee Bennett to being Penny Lee Carpenter she took my name on and she became she she became my bride she became my wife that's the same thing that happens to us church when we that's why we make a big deal about the name when we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ we take on his name but we not only take on his name we take on his Spirit we have been filled with the spirit of the bridegroom that's what will identify Us in heaven when we're walking around the streets of gold in heaven you will identify people as Old Testament Saints and then there'll be somebody come by and they'll say man that's one of that's one of the Bride that's the bride of Christ that's one of his and then there'll be the tribulation there'll be the tribulation Saints and here they are in Revelation 14:6 I saw another angel fly in the midst of Heaven having an everlasting having the Everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth and to every nation and Kindred and tongue and people saying with a loud voice fear God give glory to him for the hour of his his judgment is come and worship him that made Heaven and Earth and sea and The Fountains of the deep an angel during the tribulation angels will fly carrying this message they will be carrying this message of fear God serve God now angels in our dispensation do not preach the gospel they do not preach the gospel if angels preach the gospel then when the angel was sent to cornelius's house to tell him to go down and get Peter why didn't the angel just preach to Cornelius because the Angels do not preach the message to the bride God has called men to preach that message to the bride but these Angels were made I'm trying to prove the point tonight these angels are made to protect the helpless to serve the Believers and to Pro Proclaim God's message during the time of the tribulation but not only that now and here God uses angels to execute his judgment God uses angels to execute his judgment it was a man in the book of Acts chapter 12 verse 21 his name was Herod Herod was a persecutor of the church Herod had um Herod had had um James beheaded and he further had Peter arrested Ed Herod was a hater Herod was a hater of the church now I believe with all my heart that Herod was given an opportunity to repent I believe that God has always given people an opportunity to turn and to repent and matter of fact I I I'm a firm believer I I believe we all know God in this place I believe that God not only gives a person one time to turn I believe he gives people multiple times multiple times multiple times to turn as a matter of fact God spoke about a wicked woman in the Book of Revelation by the name of Jezebel that was seducing prophets to commit fornication and God said I gave Jezebel a space to repent I gave her time I gave her time to repent so you got to understand you got understand some people some some people because judgment doesn't fall swiftly upon them they just kind of believe that what they're doing is okay I'm going to tell you tonight I I know you probably I'm not going to have to set anybody down tonight but Judgment Day is coming Judgment Day is coming it will either come while you're living or it will come in the last day judgment but you you can guarantee this judgment day will come if Judgment Day doesn't come then God is not the god of the Bible but EV evidently this Herod had reached his end with God and in Acts chapter in Acts chapter U 12 in verse 21 and upon a set day Herod arrayed in Royal apparel set upon his throne and made an oration unto them he gave this speech to them and the people gave a shout saying it is the voice of God and not of a man and immediately the angel of the Lord you see that the angel of the Lord smokee him because he gave not God the glory and he was eaten of worms and gave up the ghost now A A lot of people describe this that God smoted him with an intestinal disease that God smoted him immed immediately with pains and he suffered for days with pains until it it it was a a cancerous type until he died and he gave up the ghost see i' I've not had to set anybody down right now you've not even clapped the whole time I've been telling you about this all right not even clapped or anything but you got to understand judgment God uses angels to execute his judgment he uses his angels to protect his people he uses his angel to protect the helpless he'll use his angels in the tribulation to proclaim the Everlasting gospel and he'll use his angels he'll use his angels he's using them now and will use them in the final day to execute to execute judgment look at Revelation chapter 20 verse number one John the Revelator sees the end of time and the Bible says in Revelation 20 in verse number one and I saw an angel Angel come down from heaven having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand and he laid hold upon the dragon who who laid hold an angel on the dragon that old serpent which is the devil and Satan and bound him for a thousand years and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon him that he should deceive the Nations no more till the Thousand Years should be fulfilled and after that he must be loose for a little Seas God used angels to Smite Herod with a disease that a few days later took his life and God will use an angel at the end of time to grab Satan with a great chain and cast him into the bottomless pit let's look at some other events in the Bible of God using angels of God using Angels Daniel chapter 3 verse number 28 Shadrach Meshach and abedo has been thrown into the fire should have been consumed in the flame but Nebuchadnezzar comes the one that had him throwed in the fire in verse 28 then Nebuchadnezzar spake and said blessed be the god are y'all seeing this tonight blessed be the god of Shadrach mesach and abedo who ha sent his Angel he has sent his Angel and delivered his servants that trusted in him and had changed the king's word and yielded their bodies that they should not serve nor worship any God except their God what a power those angel that angel must have been that angel was the fourth man in the fire what power they must have had wait what are you talking about I'm talking about a fire that was so hot that the King's Men that were ordered to escort Shadrach mhach and been to go up into the fiery furnace and push them over the the fire was so hot that it came out and consumed these men and they died but when Shadrach Meshach and abedo walked into the Flames the flame had no power on their body no the no the flame had no power upon them not even when they came out the king even got to kind of sniffing around not a hair of their head y'all see this tonight not a hair of their head was singed and not even the smell of smoke upon them and the the king said God sent his a those angels they're they are mindboggling at the power that God has given to these angels not only not only Daniel 3:28 let's look at Daniel let's look at Daniel 6:22 Daniel has been thrown into the den of starving Lions his body should have been eaten before he even hit the floor of the dungeon but he wasn't the next morning once again the king came in verse 22 the king said or Daniel says to the king my God has sent what his Angel and has shut the lion's mouth that they have done me no hurt well that's the new that's the Old Testament we have the Holy Ghost now I know we do but look at Peter and chap chapter 12 of of the book of Acts acts 12 and verse number 11 Peter is in prison he has chained to 16 soldiers he must have been one more dangerous man in their eyes he was chained to 16 soldiers but an angel appeared and the chains fell off and the angel walked Peter out into the street the Bible said and when Peter was come to himself he said now I know know assurity I know this for sure that the Lord has sent his Angel and ha delivered me out of the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews now Pastor what you you're talking about prayer you've got off on The Mercy Seat and now you're upon on the Angels now the reason I'm doing that I want us to know that when we go to prayer we're standing in the presence of God and when we go to prayer we're standing in the presence of a merciful god a God that sees us through his eyes but not only that we're standing in the presence of an innumerable number of Spiritual Beings that were created to Aid us in our help and I want that to encourage you tonight in the presence in the in the presence of God in in the Pres presence of of of God we have this Mercy In The Presence I want to want to drive that home when we go to prayer please get out get out of your mind what I'm praying and I don't I don't feel nothing read my lips real closely get your mind off feelings and get it on knowing cuz a lot of people give up on prayer because go I try pray I don't feel nothing get your mind on knowing and if you'll get your mind on knowing feelings will take care ofs get your mind on when I go to prayer and I begin to say oh God have mercy on me that all of a sudden I'm in The Mercy Seat of God I'm before the Ark of the Covenant and God is in the midst of that mercy and God the angels of God are there in that place don't don't know about you but that'll help me when your emotions have taken the wrong turn and your spiritual emotions haven't visited you in a long time I'm telling you just knowing that you're in the presence of a merciful god will be more than enough would you give God a hand of praise for that right now to be in the presence of the Lord isn't it interesting I find it very interesting tonight that in Psalms chapter 57 I'm going to read several verses through the Psalms one in Ruth but in Psalms chap 57 verse number one listen listen to David again he starts off verse number one be merciful unto me Psalms 57 verse one be merciful unto me oh God be merciful unto me for my soul trusteth in thee I trust in you yes in the shadow of thy Wings will I make my refuge until these calamities be overpassed the shadow of the Wings God doesn't have Wings God doesn't have wings but the cherubims are there you see this the cherubims are there and the psalmist is simply saying I want to be under the shadow of your wings Psalm 63 and verse 7 listen to this Psalm Psalm 63:7 because thou H has been my help say that those two words my help say it again say it again therefore in the shadow of thy Wings will I Rejoice whatever you got going wrong in your life go to prayer and get in the mercy of God and you can say I'm underneath the shadow of his wings they had that they had that imagery oh yes they had that imagery under the shadow of his wings oh Ruth she's a moabit she has faith in the god of her mother-in-law Naomi she goes back to the land and in Ruth chap 2 verse number 12 Boaz says to her her future husband Boaz says the Lord recompense thy Work and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel under whose wings Thou Art come to trust the en imagery here is the Ark of the Covenant and the cherubim Psalm 178 I want to read you these verses and write them down as fast as you can if you would Psalms 17 and8 these are how they made it keep me as the apple of thine eye hide me under the shadow of thy Wings Psalms SE Psalms 60 uh excuse me Psalms 36 and verse 7 how excellent is thy loving kindness oh God therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy Wings Psalm 61:4 I will abide in thy Tabernacle forever I will trust in the covert of thy Wings Sila Psalms 91 And1 this is the original Psalms 91 And1 is the original 911 call the original 911 call he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty think about that church what do we have to fear tonight what do any of us have to fear tonight not death not any of that we are dwelling under the shadow hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah oh under the shadow of his wings but now let's go on down a few verses in Psalms 91 1 that's the original 911 now Psalms 914 he God shall cover thee with his feathers under his wings shalt thou trust his truth shall be thy shield and buckler now first off God doesn't have feathers and God doesn't have wings but God has created Angelic beings that have both these feathers and have both the These Wings now turning the corner the cherubims the trust but now we turn the corner because something else went on upon this Mercy Seat something else went on in The Mercy Seat Revelation 8 And1 opens it up for us and when he opened the seventh seal Revelation 88 and one there was silence in heaven about the space of a half an hour and I saw seven angels which stood before God and to them were given seven trumpets and another angel came and stood at the altar having a golden sensor and there was given unto him much incense that he should offer it with the prayers of All Saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne and the smoke of the incense notice this the smoke of the incense which came with the prayers of the Saints ascended up before God out of the Angel's hands so now prayer is like incense the priest stood on one side of the veil and he offered up incense but the incense went up over the veil what the priest could not see the incense went up and over the Veil and into the presence of God where the Ark of the Covenant was just like today have confidence in your prayers that when you pray well I I don't see anything again you don't have to feel anything you don't have to see anything you need to know you need to know that when you pray it's like incense it's like burning incense H have faith in have faith in your prayers uh look at the natural if you light some incense in your house you you know you're going to throw it away if it doesn't change and put the odor of whatever the incense is church prayer is a beautiful incense that ascends and goes into the presence of God your prayers are making a difference that's why we're fought so much to pray is because the adversary is trying to discourage us from believing in the word of God but I've come tonight to stand flat footed and tell the church pray on church pray on Church Don't Pray by your feelings don't pray well things are not changing I don't see any change I know my prayers are going to heaven they're going on up over the AR over the the the the veil and into the presence of God Psalms 141 and verse number one Psalms 141 in verse one David says I Cried unto thee I cried i c Cried unto thee make haste unto me give ear unto my voice when I cry unto thee let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense and the lifting of my hands as the evening sacrifice so David connects our prayers to our incense
