Hour of Power

i want to take us into the word of the lord the book of luke the book of luke chapter 22 and verse number 31 and the lord said simon simon behold satan hath desired to have you that he may sip you as wheat satan has desired to have you i was reading this very early this morning satan has desired to have you that he may sip you like weak that's what they do when wheat is harvested they begin to to sift it they begin to uh take it to a place a threshing floor and to beat it with a uh with a pitchfork looking object and to cast it into the air to sift it to separate it but i have prayed for you jesus said that your faith would not fail and when thou art converted strengthen thy brethren i want to preach a few moments tonight on this hour of power i want to preach on this subject this is war this is war right there in your home with me would you say that with me this is war father in the name of jesus tonight i pray that you would anoint my lips that i may speak the creative eternal word of god i pray tonight that doubt and fear would be cast out and nothing but faith would be alive in our hearts tonight i pray tonight that you would give us the vision of faith i pray tonight god that you would give us lord hope and that we can look god and believe that this will come to pass lord i ask you to touch our hearts and our minds tonight as we receive your word in jesus name we pray a man and a man in 1988 there was a hurricane that hit the united states called gilbert the interesting thing about gilbert was that when gilbert hit the united states that it not only we not only suffered from the impact we not only suffered from gilbert coming on land but there were two other things that i would like to bring to your attention tonight that hurricanes have a tendency to do and that is they have a tendency to destroy by the initial impact of their winds but that's not the only way that a hurricane takes lives and destroys property we understand that when a hurricane comes ashore that flooding there there's the rising of the tide and there is massive flooding that takes place but not only does flooding the rising of the tide not only do these things take lives and destroy property not just the initial impact of the hurricane and not just the rising of the tide and the flooding that is a result but also a hurricane can spawn tornadoes as a matter of fact when 1988 when gilbert came ashore it is reported that gilbert spawned 29 tornadoes there were 29 tornadoes after the initial impact of the hurricane and after the rising of the tide and the flooding then 29 tornadoes would spawn from gilbert's path i begin to think about that the day and i i read these two passages of scripture how that satan has desired jesus said to peter that satan had desired to have him to hold him to seize him that he may sipped him like wheat and i begin to think about the time that wheat is sifted it is the time of harvest it is the time of celebration that satan actually the timing of this that satan actually waited until there was there was a harvest and at the time of the harvest it was satan's good plan that he would take the apostle peter and there he would begin to separate there is the sifting of the wheat there is a separation of the grain and the chaff the chap part that is driven away the chap part that may that has to be removed from the grain the chaff that simply served its purpose but now it is the grain that our bread is made and he said he he is desiring that he may separate that he may separate you he he desires to separate you and uh if anything that we have faced during this covet 19 pandemic since march is the separation our our our daily schedules are not the same our our weekly to the child of god that loves the attendance of the house of god and loves the attendance of corporate worship to the child of god that is been been uprooted and you and i have been separated from the benefit of a of a corporate of a corporate gathering and and uh we understand that even now we're beginning to see the effects because when the covet hurricane as i would like to refer to it it it just it's not just the force of covet it's what covet brings with it the rising of the flood the rising of the tide and we can begin to see right now how that the strong in the church are getting stronger but the week and i felt this very early in the pandemic that when it would all be said and done and it's all in the history books and the church marches on victoriously that we will look back and know that no one stayed on neutral ground if you were strong prior to covet 19 you are stronger in the midst and afterward if you were weak and teetering and on the edges and you were you you were simply not sold out that you are weaker than you've ever been because the enemy has desired that he may shift us as weak covet 19 slammed into our coast in the month of march but now later in august we are battling we are battling the rising of the floods we are battling the flood of covet 19. isaiah chapter 59 and verse number 19 so shall they fear the name of the lord from the west and his glory from the rising of the sun when the enemy shall come in like a flood the spirit of the lord shall lift up a standard against him so we understand tonight that it's just not the initial of the slamming of covet upon our shore in the month of march but we're now in august and we're now feeling the flooding effects of covet but child of god be of good cheer that god in the midst of our flooding that god is able to raise up a standard against him to the child of god to the child of god when the flooding becomes around comes to your house be of good cheer worship god believe in god trust in god because he said i will raise up a standard against him we understand tonight that every good and every perfect gift comes down from the father of lights we know tonight we understand tonight in the blame of of covet and where covet has come from and and in china and all of the different things is really irrelevant tonight can i tell you covet comes from sin and covet comes from the adversary so we can understand and look at covet and know that this covet is not a god now i'm not saying that god cannot use this covet to perfect the church because i certainly believe that he can i believe that it can use covet to cause the church to have greater trust in him child of god don't lose your trust right now child of god don't lose your belief in god right now i know child of god that your world is turned upside down i know maryville church i know sevierville church that your world is turned upside down right now but you listen to the words of almighty god he said when the enemy comes in like a flood that he will lift up a standard against him a standard is a family in sign it's a family sign it was something that went up on a pole and it told what tribe that you're of and so the bible lets us know that when the enemy comes in like a flood that he steps out in front of our lives and as sure as i'm preaching tonight i believe this that the enemy comes in to the church like a flood the enemy comes into our community like a flood but what we can't see tonight is that our great god jehovah even when i can't see him working our great god jehovah steps out and he lifts up our family sign which is the cross which is the empty tomb which is the upper room he lifts up that sign and says you can go no further than this i believe tonight that the bible says he will lift up a standard oh praise god we understand in jeremiah 46 verse number 8 says egypt riseth up like a flood and his waters are moved like the river you see that that world that that that covet that that that hurricane that that were that that has caused the flooding and we connect this and tether this to the works of sin and how the enemy works through sin while even why even in revelation chapter 12 verse number 15 in reference to a flood and the enemy working says and the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman which is israel that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood we we understand how the enemy is working in the word of god is like a flood now it's working it's like a flood but now let's see how god can use the flood to fulfill his purpose yes god can allow evil around the church for the intent not to destroy the church but for the intent to perfect to perfect the church i i am reminded of a woman who lived right beside an atheist now she was a god-fearing she was a god-believing god-trusting woman and a child of god she fell on hard times hard times so much the fact that she didn't have any food so one day she got down she had ate the last potato she had drank the last bit of milk she had and she got down and she began to talk to jesus and she told the lord her need and she needed food and she prayed that prayer and just so happened the old atheist he was outside the window he heard her and he thought to himself i'm going to prove to this woman that there is no god so he went to the grocery store and he just got several buggies of groceries and he brought them and he snuck around the corner of the house and and he put all those groceries on the on the front porch and he walked to the corner and he watched as the woman the child of god came out and oh she saw the milk and the eggs and the bread and the bologna and she saw all the butter and all the things that was there and she began to worship the lord she began to magnify the lord about that time the olathe stepped around the corner and he said to her he said you are a fool said god didn't bring you those groceries god didn't answer your prayer she he said i bought them groceries said you god didn't have anything to do with that and then he was amazed at the changing of her behavior because she had praised the lord moderately but when she had heard that her next-door neighbor the atheist had bought and brought the groceries she got to dancing and shouting and praising god she shouted off the front porch and danced in the yard and he said didn't you hear me i told you that god didn't bring those groceries i did what are you dancing about she said i knew god was great but she said i didn't know god was this great that he could actually hear my prayer and have the devil go bring my groceries to my doorstep oh friend that's exactly what can happen with covet 19 god can use covet 19 to perfect the faith of you and i why don't we let him do that right now instead of living a day full of doubt and wondering what bad news we're going to hear today could we look up into the air could we look into the invisible and say god i know that you're at work god i know that when this has come and gone i'll be a better christian i'll be a stronger christian i'll have i'll be stronger in my faith than ever before can we believe that god can use god can use the flood you see in psalms chapter 29 and verse number 10 the bible says psalms 29 10 look at this the lord sitteth upon the flood yea the lord sitteth king forevermore oh where's god out in the midst of the flooding where's god at in the midst of the flooding of this cove well i'll tell you where he's at he sets on the flood he sets right on that flood as if to say to us don't let it alarm you don't let the flood cause you to lose faith in me i sit on this flood i sit as the king forever was a matter of fact in genesis chapter 7 verse number 17 speaking of noah's flood it says in genesis 7 17 and the flood was 40 days upon the earth that's a time and the waters increased and bear up the ark and it was lift up above the earth verse 21 and all flesh died that moved upon the earth both the found cattle beast and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth and every man and all flesh died could it be that god may allow the floods to help our flesh to die that part of us that wants to lean to our fleshly understanding that part of us that wants to work it out ourself and figure it out ourself and that part of us that wants to be a self-made and not have to depend on it could it be that god is allowing the flood so that our flesh can die so that our spirit our faith can be stronger in the lord jesus christ more than ever before you see the flood can even become a dividing mark in our lives we can actually refer back i don't believe i don't believe that there's one person living today that's of the age that'll forget covet it'll be a dividing a dividing mark it's a it's a dividing time why in genesis 9 and 28 says and noah lived after the flood can you say that with me and noah lived after the flood 350 years and noah lived after the flood can i tell you the church will go on after covet the church will march on victoriously after the covet the child of god will march on victoriously after covet can i tell you dear child of god that there's nothing that's been taken from us during covet that god cannot give back to us many many times over again amen he said he lived after the flood genesis 10 verse number one now these are the generations of the sons of noah shem ham and jaceb and unto them were sons born after the flood it even records not only that noah lived after the flood but it records that noah's sons had sons after the flood we're going to produce again church the baptismal waters as a matter of fact our baptismal waters have not been stopped since we have had to go online with our services we are baptizing people people are coming to joshua 24 24 and verse number verse number 2 and joshua said unto all the people thus saith the lord god and of israel your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time even terah the father of abraham and the father of nacor and they served other gods you know joshua said on the other side of the flood you serve the other gods but on this side of the flood you need to serve jehovah god on the other side of covet may god use covet to stir people up to come to god may god use covet to cause maryville alcoa louisville seymour greenback oh yes all the surrounding communities the covet but now not only can the flood be a dividing line of time but what will our actions be during the flooding that's the product of covet what will our actions be what's my actions what's your actions well psalms chapter 66 and verse number six it's a beautiful verse psalm 66 and verse number six he turned the sea into dry dry land and they the children of god went through the flood on foot there did we rejoice in him did you see that i'm not going to wait until covet is gone to put my garment of praise on i may not feel as well as i would like i may have the pressure of the world upon my mind i may feel like my heart and my head is in a vice with all of the flooding that's going on but in the midst of all of that may i put my garment of praise on and may i begin to say god you are good god you've never done me nothing but good the lord has given and the lord has taken but blessed be the name of the lord i praise your name lord jesus i worship your name almighty god i give you praise and i give you glory and i give you honor you say what are you doing i'm not going to wait until the flood is gone to praise him i'm going through on dry land and i'm going to praise him in the midst of the flood i'm going to praise him in the midst of bad news after bad news after bad news i'm going to praise the lord you know as well as i do he's never done us nothing but good god has always been good to us we've not always been good to god but god has always been good to us he's never done us nothing but good he's put food on our table shoes on our feet a roof over our head he has protected us he has been our healer he has been our way maker he's been our problem solver there's so many different things that we can praise the lord for right now if you're breathing right now the bible said let everything that had breath praise ye the lord why don't you do that with me right now let's take a moment and just praise him father i love you tonight father i glorify you tonight i thank you tonight god that you reached down years ago and put conviction upon my heart i thank you that you let me repent of my sins i thank you that you allowed me to be baptized in your name i thank you jesus that you filled me with the holy ghost i thank you god that you've had the abundance of mercy upon my soul god i've not always lived like i should but god you've always been merciful to me i give you praise from for the mercy i give you glory for the mercy tonight god i magnify you oh i hope home's all over tonight i hope you're praising with me not just watching me worship tonight why don't you praise him in your home right now i promise you your atmosphere will begin to turn if you'll begin to give god some praise right now if you'll begin to give god some praise and some worship the atmosphere will begin to turn because go ahead go ahead hurricane covet go ahead or hurricane gilbert go ahead ho hurricane uh covet go ahead and bring your flood in the midst of the water god is good god is great he's a mighty god he's a providing god he's a pillar of fire by night and he's a pillar of cloud by day he's a bread that comes down from heaven and he's a water that comes out of a rock he's the fourth man in the fiery furnace he's the lion tamer of daniel's lion's den he's the holy ghost on the day of pentecost and you hear me lift up your head he's the soon-coming king that'll split the eastern sky come on church don't lose faith tonight god is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we're able to ask and or think oh friend if you think pastor carpenter's happy tonight you are exactly right tonight my soul doth make her boast in the lord this evening he's a great and a mighty god i praise him in the midst i praise him in the midst this morning when i woke up i began to study that passage of scripture satan has desired to have you that he may sip you like wheat it's as if i heard the gentle voice of god in the back of my heart saying the enemy always attacks around harvest the enemy always attacks our lives around harvest every time the enemy attack you can be well assured that your actions had something to do either with your current harvest or a future harvest he said satan has desired to have you that he may sip you like wheat it's during the harvest that wheat is sifted i thought today when i heard the general voice of the lord say the enemy comes during the harvest we're fighting this church because the enemy knows that there's a great harvest that's coming in revelation chapter number 14 verse number 15. revelation chapter 14 and verse number 15. and another angel came out of the temple crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud thrust in thy sickle and reap for the time has come for thee to reap for the harvest of the earth is ripe you see as never before we have trouble but it's only because there's a harvest that's never before we're faced with situations that our parents nor our grandparents know our great-grandparents face it's all because there is a harvest so child of god tonight just understand that we're being fought by the initial impact of covet by the rising flood waters of covet and by the tornadoes those spirits that want to come into our homes and tell us that there is no god those spirits that want to spin into our lives and tell us we've wasted our life with foolish living to worship god those tornadoes that want to spin there's more there's more suicide in our nation tonight than ever before there's more depression going on as never before there's more drug use there's more crime than ever before because we're not only fighting the flood waters of the covet we're fighting the spawning of demonic spirits that delight causing you to think you're hopeless causing you to think your situation is hopeless and you don't even need to try to pray you don't even need to try to believe you going to live a life of torment can i tell you tonight in the mighty name of jesus christ that i bind through the holy spirit i bind through the holy name of jesus every demonic tornado wind that wants to tell you you're hopeless you need to say no i'm not you need to say with your mouth i'm not hopeless it's not over i have hope god is able god is able he is by my side when i feel that he's a million miles when the tornado of the demonic world wants to twirl around my life and tell me that god is a million miles away it is fact that when the enemy tells you something that you can turn around to the opposite god is closer to his bride than he's ever been before anytime there's danger you watch a parent reach for that child because there's a there's a potential danger if i could tell you tonight that the lord jesus if i can use the analogy the lord jesus has stepped up and he has put his arms around the church as if to protect us so we are actually closer to him tonight we're actually closer to him although the tornadoes that are spawned will try to tell us that we're far far away from god was it not the timing was it not the timing of satan to attack job when did he attack him when they were plowing when the oxen were plowing what his plowing got to do with the timing job was planting his next harvest you see the enemy knows tonight that you need more than the comfort of your barn field today but that you need the hope of tomorrow's harvest and so if the enemy can destroy your faith in tomorrow's harvest he'll eventually destroy your soul so satan attacked job when he was sowing tomorrow's harvest i'm reminded of a time that god used to turn the tide in israel israel had sinned and god had allowed the midianites god allowed the many knights to put the people of god under heavy oppression but at harvest time there was a man called gideon that was threshing wheat that's when god appeared to him and said you are a mighty man of valor it was david that found the threshing floor of orona and stopped the death angel that he could go no further it was the harvest time that the turnaround came it was jesus in john chapter 4 it was jesus that told the disciples say not four months then comes the harvest but i say lift up your eyes on the field for your harvest is already here i say tonight church say not say not when the vaccine comes say not when the election is over say not when 2020 is in the book but i say tonight lift up your eyes to the heels of god's promises from whence cometh our help oh i pray tonight i pray in my spirit somehow someway faith has exploded in your heart will you join me right now there in your homes will you join me will you get down on your knees with me if you possibly can and can we begin to call out upon the name of the lord right now father i love you father i praise you tonight father you are our shepherd and we shall not want father you prepare a table for us to eat in the presence of our enemy in the presence of our enemy o god of covet you want to feed us tonight god a meal of faith father right now from god oh jesus jesus jesus almighty god of heaven lord be that peace around us be that pillar of fire be that shield around us tonight god lord let our hearts be lifted up in faith lord no weapon formed against us will prosper lord we are the head and we are not the tale we are above and we are not beneath you've called us to this hour for a mighty work of god i pray that you would use us as never before lord jesus we ask all of these things in your mighty name in the name of jesus christ i pray go ahead right now go ahead and begin to believe god with me right now god is going to make a way god is going to make a way where there seems to be no way god is going to use your obstacle to make you stronger in him i believe that and would you say in jesus name tonight in jesus
