Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Two texts for a desperate day

  • David said in his heart that he would one day perish by the hand of Saul, and that nothing was better for him than to escape speedily into the land of the Philistines.
  • David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, every man grieved for his sons and daughters — but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 27:1; 1 Samuel 30:6

A tell-all book written for our learning

  • The Bible tells the good, the bad, and the ugly about its people, so no reader concludes that God's servants were set too high to reach.
  • Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope; he is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Scriptures: Romans 15:4; 1 Samuel 27:1

Jealousy hunts David out of the land

  • The women's song — Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands — planted a jealousy in Saul that made David a fugitive for years, sleeping with one ear open.
  • Worn down by the running, David decided in his own heart, without counsel from anyone, to leave Israel; once he fought the Philistines' battles, Saul let up on him.
  • A decision made all alone, out of a deceitfully wicked heart, will not be made in the right direction; godly voices are needed.

The burned city: hitting the bottom

  • David and his men came to the city on the third day to find it burned with fire and their wives, sons, and daughters taken captive by the Amalekites.
  • They lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep; David's two wives were among the captives.
  • When his own brethren began to talk of stoning him, David hit the bottom — and the bottom woke him up, as the prodigal son came to himself.

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 30:1-3; 1 Samuel 30:4; 1 Samuel 30:5; 1 Samuel 30:6

Encouraged by the Word of the Comforter

  • God answers the fear of man: I, even I, am he that comforteth you — who are you to fear a man that shall die, and to forget the Lord your Maker who stretched forth the heavens?
  • The same heart that got David into trouble could get him out; he began to say again, The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Scriptures: Isaiah 51:12; 1 Samuel 30:6

Inquire of the Lord and recover all

  • Even in a strange land David had kept the priest and the ephod close; he inquired, Shall I pursue after this troop, and was answered, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
  • David recovered everything that was taken and more besides — this is David's spoil; your best days and finest years are not behind you.

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 30:7-8; 1 Samuel 30:20

somebody say praise the Lord praise the Lord 1st Samuel 27 verse1 and David said in his heart I shall now perish One Day by the hand of Saul there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily Escape into the land of the Philistines and Saul shall despair of me to seek me anymore in any coast of Israel so shall I escape out of his hand turn over a few chapters to 1st Samuel 30 and verse number six verse number 30 of 1st Samuel verse number six oh thank you Jesus thank you Lord I praise you God and David was greatly distressed for the people spake of stoning him because the soul of all the people was grieved every man for his sons and for his daughters but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God and what's really important today as we pray and every prayer has purpose the prayer of the offering was to pray over the offering but the prayer right now is twofold to ask God to help me to preach to you and to ask God to help you to receive the word to receive the word today can we all pray together father would you anoint my lips of clay today I count it of the highest honor God to feed your sheep this morning oh Father I count it of the highest Lord I I don't know why you ever saved me that's a mystery God why you would look down and deal with me the way that you did and God bring me into this glorious thing called the church but God the greater mystery of all is why you would call me to preach God I thank you today and I ask you to give me the ability Lord that I would be able to feed your people I would be able to lead your people God Lord that I would be able to shine a light in a dark place to someone today to help help them Lord to come to you and to help them God have faith in you Lord for you've never left us nor ever forsaken us Lord touch us today God in Jesus name we all pray amen and amen before you seated I want you to give God a hand clap of Praise in advance in advance that God's going to speak to us today God's going to speak to us today you may be seated my title today will give away the depth of the message this morning but this morning I want to take a few moments and I want to minister on the subject lonely but not alone lonely but not but not alone you know the Bible is a wonderful book because it is a tell all book is a tella book it is a book that tells us about a person it tells us about the nation of Israel it tells us about the church and it's a book that that tells all it tells the good it tells the bad and it tells the ugly it tells it all about an individual you know had the Bible only recorded David killing Goliath then we would probably have such a different view of David you know he was spotless he was uh he he was he he was Stellar he he was all this he was a man of faith and if the Bible didn't tell The Good the Bad and the Ugly we would really put Bible characters too high and the fear would be that we would put them so high on the shelf that none of us would be able to reach we would just open the Bible up and read about a guy that killed a giant we' shut the Bible and say man I can never do that I I I can never do that I I have some good in my life but I also have some bad in my life I I also have some things that I'm I'm proud of and there some things I'm I'm not so proud proud of today and so we we would we would be at maybe just to lay the Bible down and say man I I I could never measure up to that guy but the Bible tells it all and it tells it all for a reason Romans chap 15:4 just briefly the Bible here's the reason the Bible is a t all book for it says for whatsoever things were written a four time that's the Bible were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scripture scriptures might have hope so he goes ahead and tells you I I have have had this entire book written I've had this entire book written so you can read it and you're going to read about the good of a person did and you're going to read about the ugly the bad the person did and when you read all of it you're going to see how I have worked all things together for good you're going to see I took I took all that ingredients and I mixed together and I produced something good and then as you read it and you see this you're going to begin to develop faith in your heart that if God did it back then God will still perform it today for this same book tells us that he's the same yesterday come on somebody help me now he's the same yesterday today and forever forever it changes not the life of David he comes on the scene unknown until he takes a slingshot and goes out and kills the champion of gath the Philistines Goliath by name we know that immediately he catches the attention of Israel's first King Saul Now David David Before Time had been in Saul's presence to play an instrument because Saul had rejected God and the spirit of God had left Saul Israel's first king and an evil spirit allowed from the Lord begin to trouble Saul and as Saul would begin to be troubled they would call for a musical instrument and as the musician begin to play pleasantly upon the stringed heart it seemed to soothe it seemed to soothe the nature of course I don't want to get off on this Trail today but I still believe that music I still believe that music sung to the name of Jesus causes the enemy to have to pick up his tools and walk out of our life I still believe songs sang To the King of Kings and the Lord of lords causes the enemy to have to say put your toolbox up in that mind can't work there anymore because they they've went to praising and worshiping God they David had been in Saul's presence as a musician but Saul never took note of it oh no it wasn't until that day that David his faith strong in his God took a slingshot and five smooth stones and went out down in the valley and through the brook and over to meet Goliath and there David returns with the head of Goliath in his hand it's then that David captures the attention of of Saul it's then that Saul has to take note of David but it is then also that Saul doesn't allow David to go home and be a Shepherd any longer he doesn't allow David to leave no no no he puts he enlists David he enlists David into his military he makes David a soldier or a warrior I mean a brilliant move a a brilliant move would you not say that I mean you done kill Goliath I mean you're not going home to tend sheep anymore you're you're you're coming into my Army you're going to you're going to go out and you're going to fight battles for me and all brother Jeremy everything was going smooth textbook perfect until Saul was standing watching the armies of David the armies of Israel led by David come back in the Gates of Jerusalem and as the custom was the young women would stand around the gates and the young women would begin to sing songs of Victory but then this time there was a different song you see in the past they would simply sing Saul has slain his thousands oh praise be to Jehovah Saul has slain his thousands oh praise be to Jehovah but on this day as Saul stood there and he heard them start out Saul has slain his thousands and he's waiting for the young maidens to say oh praise to Jehovah he he's a new verse that's written but David his tens of thousands I'm going to tell you there isn't a greater monster of cancer in people's life than the cancer of jealousy oh that that it's a it's a cancer when you you it it won't allow you to Rejoice over someone who's doing something you view as more than what you're doing oh this jealousy hit Saul this cancer of the spirit and the soul hit Saul Saul said these words what they have subscribed to me but thousands but unto David tens of thousands and the Bible says from that day forward Saul eyed David can I tell you what jealousy will do to you David didn't write that song David had nothing to do with that song as a matter of fact I'm going to tell you the only thing more than David had than Saul was character see only thing David had more and boy if there's anybody you ought to try to rub shoulders with you ought to find somebody that has more character than you why would I want to do that because you want what they got he eyed David from that day forward and he said what could he want more now that he's got the song What could he want more but the kingdom and he eyed him as a future insurrectionist he eyed him from that day forward David couldn't do anything right let me tell you something today when jealous he takes root in your life no one can do anything right for you everything has a different motive if you're kind to them you're only kind because you hurt them if you and the list goes on and on and on and on they perceive and so Saul perceived that David wanted the kingdom well as Saul became acquainted with David Saul recognized now I believe you were the Young musician that came and played for me yes I am David I I I'm I'm yes I am Saul I am the Young musician that played and then again once again the evil spirit began to torment Saul's mind and Saul came down and there there's scripture there's this scripture I can't explain all right I just have to take it at face value and I'm just I'm just telling you like it is today I'm not going to try to explain it but the Bible says that Saul sat there with an evil Spirit on him and that Saul sat there and begin to prophesy and Saul sat there with a jablin in his hand I'm going to tell you these are three ingredients that don't mix he got an evil spirit on him he got a mouth prophesying about what God's going to do and he's got a jablin in his say I can't explain it to you today other than other than when we allow jealousy to enter us we float into three different compartments in our minds evil prophesying fighting that's what you do with a jablin you fight evil prophesying fighting and so there he is tormented one moment he's digging into his head with anger from an evil spirit the next moment he's prophesying the next moment he's got a javelin ready David stand David sits there and begins to play with his instrument all of a sudden Saul catches a glimpse of him Saul takes the jaing and David's playing an instrument David watches as Saul gets up and eyes him from the room and David watches as Saul rars back with the javelin and away it throws at David the Bible said that Saul didn't try to kill him with a jablin once there was twice that David had to get out of his presence because of Saul was going to kill him it was then that David began to run for his life and him and Saul's son had a covenant together and David would tell Jonathan why is your father angry why why does he want to kill me and on and on and on it became apparent and then David had to leave home Saul knew where to get him one night David had married one of Saul's daughters and it they had got the report that they' got the report that uh Saul was going to send soldiers in the middle of the night kill David in the bed and uh Mel Saw's daugh daughter told David the plan and she even she even put something in the bed that resembled a man while David slept somewhere else and when Saul came in and thought he had caught David there in the bed he found David was going to kill him they bring back the blanket and there's there's a piece of kitchen utensil that looks like a head of a man and Saul then turns on his own children and begins a rail oh I'm going to tell you something I got to go back to this that demon that cancer of jealousy will have you turning even on your own family lose all parental love Lo lose all lose all lose all parental love I I don't I don't I don't care who you are if you allow jealousy it'll turn you against your own F it'll turn you against your own children Saul was ranting on Mel then David knows I've just got to run from my life I've just got to be a fugitive I've got to run from my life several years David ran from Saul and Saul's he had evidently convinced his army brother John Stone he had convinced his army that David was an insurrectionist that David was trying to overthrow and they're hunting for this man called David few times they thought they had cornered him and one time David had to run in the back of a cave and and and and to to to hide from Saul and Saul was in the front of the cave and the men that were around David they said not once but twice they said David go ahead this is your opportunity kill him go ahead David take your spear one time they one time David got so close to Saul he was laying on the ground sleeping and David got so close to Saul the men were Whispering this is your moment this is your moment kill it take one you just take the spear all it'll take is one that's all it'll take is just he'll be gone and David said no and they they stood for a moment with Glee because David got a knife out oh what's he going to do David reaches down and gets the robe of Saul and he cuts off a piece of robe and he waits till the next morning he waits till the next morning Saul goes out of the cave and is down in the valley and David stood up on a mountain and begin to cry out after Saul he said here it is here's your here's a robe I could have done you wrong I could have taken your life but I Saul I mean you no harm a roller coaster a roller coaster Saul turns and says David you're more righteous than I am David oh you're a righteous man but then in the next week or so Saul was right back in to hunting David like a dog through the woods I don't know exactly how long I guess I could do an in-depth study and tell you how many years it was that David ran from Saul but can all tell us all today and could we all be a little transparent with each other this morning on alone but not lonely could we all understand that when trials last for a few years and you have ups and downs it has a way of wearing on you when trials last for years and seasons and you can't put your mailbox up anywhere and you can't have normality of life you can't get a good night's sleep David doesn't remember the last time he slept sound I mean just a cricket just something just something making the smallest of noise would have woke David up in a is is it Saul is it Saul is it Saul but come on let's all see something today we're not superum nobody in this place is superum I don't care what kind of saw it you dressed up and came to church at with today none of us are s superhuman and over a period of time over a period of time David says one day and it was in my opening text he says one day 1st Samuel 271 and David said in his heart I shall now one day perish by the hand I shall now one day perish by the hand of Saul there is nothing better than I can do for myself than to leave the land of Israel and to go live and fight the battles for the Philistines it's there it's in the Bible yes I know David came on the scene by killing the giant of gath of the Philistines I know David come on the scene of fighting the battles against the Philistines but he came to a time in his life when he said there would be nothing better for me to do but to leave the land of Israel and go into the land of the Philistines and there I will fight the battles for them at least I don't have to be chased by Saul anymore I could get to a place that the enemy wouldn't care uh Saul would not care care that much from me anymore and he was exactly right when he did go live in the land of the Philistines and fight battles for the Philistines for 16 months the Bible does say and Saul sought him no more in Israel he just simply said guys I've been telling you for a long time he's an insurrectionist look at him he's over in the land of the Philistines and he's fighting for he's fighting for now I know I've got you I've got you I've got you on the ropes today because y'all say that I see people thumbing through their Bible right now I never read that in the B I never knew well it's in there because it's The Good the Bad and the Ugly he goes and fights these battles I'm going to tell you something today I would not disagree with you that the enemy will let up with you if you'll just go over into his land and fight for him right I I don't I don't I don't have any I I wouldn't have any qualms to tell you today that if you'll just stop serving God there is a spiritual force that will let up on you and you won't feel it anymore but I'm here to tell you today I may be lonely but I'm not alone I may be I may feel sometimes that I'm David all by myself and I'm trying to help somebody here today I'm David all by myself and it seems like all I was trying to do was good and now look how things have turned around and look how I am being viewed I've got to tell someone today that even if you go to the land I'm going to tell a prodal a backslider today even if you you you you see the here here's what's wrong with this the Bible said David said in his heart the Bible doesn't say David took counsel with anybody the Bible doesn't say David sat down with he the Bible didn't say David sat down and read any Scripture he simply said it in his heart can I tell you the Bible says our hearts are deceitfully wicked above all and that no man if if you're going to make some decisions don't make it all by yourself you may be lonely but you're not alone if you're going to make some decision don't get all by yourself and make those decisions because you won't make them in the right direction you need to get some Godly voices in your life and begin to pull him around come on give him a thunderous hand clap of Praise right now Saul's not hunting me anymore I don't have this Force I've slept good now for 16 months David for 16 months David fought for the Philistines for 16 months he lived among the Philistines and he fought among the Philistines as a matter of fact 16 months can do some strange things to you not only can time out of the church not only does the devil fo not only does the devil let up on you when you leave the church but you even begin to change your view of the church that's why I I'm I am so strong you're probably going to hear a message about this I hate the term Church hurt cause the church don't hurt people the church is God's Ecclesia the church is God's body now there may be people who attend a building where the Ecclesia meets but the church doesn't hurt you because the church is the body of Christ he is our head we are his body the body I'm going to tell you the only way your body tries to hurt itself is you crazy the if you're trying to hurt your body a something wrong going on you need some help but the body doesn't hurt let give give you a little analogy don't ever do this I I I would like to live my life telling you don't ever do this don't ever do this they make a but back before garage door openers were very popular brother Seth they make a handle on a garage door that handle is there for a reason it's called a handle hand you pull it down you reach and get the handle and you pull it down you don't do like Pastor as the garage door folds down you know in panels don't reach up and put your fingers yeah you know where I'm going and it wasn't a single garage door either it was a double and as I reached up I pulled it down losing track pulling it down all of a sudden brain begins to feel pain here right hand finger fingernails are being crushed left hand said you big dummy didn't you see the handle there what's wrong with you are you crazy why didn't you use the handle no sir left hand takes comes up under garage door and left hand lifts garage door freeze right hand fingers to come out I know this I know this is gross mouth opens up hand goes in why is that it's because the body takes care of itself and I got news from somebody say if you want to hurt the body you're a testimony that you are not part of the body this is where we're going to encourage you this is we're going to tell you hey I I know you I know you I know you got your hand caught I I know you're in some pain right now but God is good God will see you through God will help you out God God is here to help you we want to help you in the CH oh yes aren't you thankful today to be in the church so help me today help me eradicate this demonic phrase called Church hurt cuz there's no such thing as Church hurt the body would never turn on itself and try to hurt David 16 months he fights the Philistines got together and they said hey we got a big battle coming up we're going into the land of Israel we're going into Jezreel to fight now you would think that somehow David would wake up but David marched his 600 men that's who David was over David had 600 men that he marched right down in the parade and all the Philistines as culture of that day all the Philistine armies would line up parade after parade after parade and the city would come out and clap and as they begin to line up David lined his 600 men what for why cuz he's going to go fight he's even going to go back to where he came from he's going to go back he's going to fight but the Bible says the Bible says that the Lords of the Philistines brother Nolan they were on a platform looking out over all the different armies and they said hey hey hey hey hey what's them Hebrews doing here what's them folks with the funny clothes on doing here what what's them Hebrews doing here what's them Hebrews here for I saidoh man he's been living here for about 16 months he been fighting all of our battles he been he he is a Hebrew he said wait a minute this is in the Bible now is the lord of the Philistines said wait a minute isn't this the one that they sung the songs about that Saul is slain his thousands but David is tens of thousand yeah that's the guy that's the guy isn't he the one that killed our giant our our champion isn't he the one yeah that's the one that's the one but Hey listen I know he at one time he was over there fighting for them but now for 16 months he' been over here fighting for us he's one of us now and the Lord of Philistines said huh he's not going to battle with us you take him back to the land of Israel and his heart may turn against us he may see what we're going to do to Israel and he'll turn his heart back toward Israel and he'll begin to fight with us he's not going to fight with us and you know what you talk about a predicament Saul don't want you Saul doesn't want you and the Philistines doesn't I mean he I I mean Saul doesn't want you the Philistines don't want you so David just makes his way back to where he left his family at he goes back to zigg we find this in 1st Samuel chapter 30 won't you join me there 1st Samuel chapter 30 verse number one man what a predicament he's in Saul don't want him the Philistines don't want him 16 months I've lived here now I've got to go back to Zig laag it came to pass when David and his men were come to Zig on Third Day C could could everybody say could everybody just say this with me bad day David is having what kind of day help Mead day she having a bad day he's having a bad day I mean Saul don't want me 16 months I've lived in the land of the Philistines and now you all don't want me say it again with me David's having a bad day so he comes to Zig on the third day that the amalekites had invaded the South and Zig was smitten and and smitten Zig and burned it with fire and had taken the women captives that were therein they slew not any neither great or small but carried them away and went on their way so David and his men came to the city and behold it was burned with fire and their wives and their sons and their daughters were taken captive then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep now I'm going to tell you once again I don't I I don't know how to explain scripture I just tell you they cried they boohoo until they didn't have a any more boohoo power they they didn't have any more I mean they cried that's the only way I can s first they cried they have no more tears they cried wore out these these Warriors these rugged fighting men were wore out with tears our wives are gone our sons and our daughters are gone our houses are burned with fire the only thing we've got running is our imagination did they kill my wife did they kill my Nolan did they kill my Laura Did did they kill my family did did did did did they Massacre what did they do with my family man this is a bad day and it doesn't look to be getting any better either the Bible said verse four they lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power you ever you ever come on help me out now you ever just cried till you can't cry anymore you ever just thought about things and how it ought have been different and how you'd like for it to been different and wish this would have happened and wish that would have happened and wish they hadn't done this and wish you hadn't done that and you ever just thought about it till you can't think about it no more they had no power to weep verse five and David's two wives were taken captive a henm the jezus and Abigail the wife of nabal the Carmelite here it goes there's a text we read today and David was greatly distressed for the people spake of stoning him because the soul of of all the people were grieved every man for his sons and for his daughters man you got a bad day the enemy doesn't want you the enemy doesn't want you you've lived 16 months in the en enemy's land and they don't want you you come home to hopefully your wife and your children and it's not been attacked and burned with fire they're nowhere to be found but now this Army of 600 men that you've LED for 16 months this Army of men that you fought side beside with this Army of men that you've been Brothers with now they're holding secret little meetings around the ashes of Zig lag and guess what they're discussing let's kill David let's just kill him I don't know about you I don't know about you but I'm so glad the Bible tells us more than just he killed a giant I'm glad the Bible tells us more that he had faith and I know brother Hammond you preached an excellent message on this he stood for the conviction of his God there's no uncircumcised Philistine going to blaspheme the name of my I'm glad for your conviction to go kill a giant but I'm really interested how you come out of a bad day I'm really interested how you get back on the on the right track because all of us in this room today if you've served God any time at all we get knocked off the we get knocked off the right track and we have to admit I'm on the wrong track my attitude's not right my are not right the way I'm thinking is not right I got to get I got to get back on the oh Lord have mercy could you just lift up your hands and worship him right now for a moment oh the Holy Ghost is in this room right now could could you just Worship the Lord with me for a moment right now could you just Worship the Lord with me right now just worship him with me right now come on just worship God's going to put somebody God's going to put somebody on the right track this morning God's going to help somebody come out of a dilemma in their life right now God's go God's going to God's going to begin to move Saul tried to kill me the enemy doesn't want me the enemy's attacked and now my own brothers are talking about stoning me but I didn't read to you the rest of verse number six because sometime God has to take us to the bottom you say man if I'm not on the bot botom where am I at well I'm going to ask you this if you're not looking up you ain't hit the bottom yet I said if you're not looking up you've not hit the bottom yet David hits the bottom right now Saul was not the bottom the Philistines saying get out of here was not the bottom his house is being burned his wives being taken was not the bottom but when his own Brethren began about killing him David said I've hit the bottom right here that'd be the best thing thaten happened to all of us today if we get off track God help us to hit the bottom God take everything out from underneath me that I'm depending upon but you Lord I want to get I want to get to the bottom where you're the only one that I can reach up to and I can cry out to and I can say God you've got you've got the answer to this God and so David hits the bottom and look at the end of verse number six but David encouraged himself self in the Lord his God the bottom woke him up the bottom woke David up David you weren't thinking in your right mind when you left Israel you were not in your right mind and there's a little phrase in the story of the prodical son that we ought to really underline because the prodical son was not in his right mind when he left the father's house he was not in his right mind when he didn't appreciate the beauty of the father's house he wasn't in his right mind when he went down to a far country and there began to drink wine there begin to begin to hire harlots to come into his room he was not in his right mind guess what put him in his right mind the Bible said no don't miss this now the Bible said and when he came to himself he said how many servants in My Father's House have bread enough to spare that little phrase right there and when he came to himself tells you that he wasn't himself when he left the father's house he wasn't himself when he began to spend his inheritance on wine and women and loose living he wasn't himself but thank God the bottom thank God the bottom thank God the bottom brings me to myself and I begin to say how many servants in my father's house oh how happy I was when the choir was singing oh how happy I was when the church was praying oh how happy I was when I was Usher oh how happy I was when I was teaching Sunday school oh how happy we were when we were getting up on Sunday morning and we were getting ready to go to the house of the Lord oh how happy we were David comes to himself and he says I've done hit rock bottom now and the only thing I can do look at that phrase and David encouraged himself in the Lord Lord his God and David I I want I want I want you to no the same heart that got him in trouble is the same heart that can get him out of trouble the Bible said David encouraged himself there wasn't a choir there there wasn't Elders there there wasn't a best friend that loved God there there was nobody there the same heart that turns you against God will be the same heart that can turn you back to God the the the the the the same the the the same feeling that you have about the church and this thing is really not real will be the same thing that you can begin to say I know this is real I know this is right I know I'm thinking about that old song my God is real for I can feel him in my soul I'm I'm going to tell you I thank God for the number of people here today I thank God for a choir I thank God for all that but all of that is additives to the one thing I have in my heart I know my God is real I know my God is real I know that I'm being held in his arms right now I know my God can I oh come on come on Praise Him With Me Right Now Praise Him with me I know my God is real Hallelujah but David encouraged himself and the Lord his god brother Nolan one translation of that is I read one translation that said that David had a copy of some of the word of God and that he be to read the I'm G to tell you something one of the best ways to get encouraged to get your nose in this book now I'm not the originator of this but I sure do believe in this you need to get your nose out of Facebook and get your nose in thebook cuz Facebook won't encourage you oh feel I I'm tell you something my chill bumps have got chill bumps right now I got one on my arm right now you could hang a coat hanger on right now I'm feeling mighty good right now in the house of the Lord you might not want to get up and go to a restroom right now cuz I may run slap over the top of you cuz I feel my holy ghost coming on right now because it was my heart that got me in trouble and it's going to be my heart that's going to get me out of trouble David said within himself die one day but David also be to say I I I believe the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want I believe he leads me in Paths of righteousness for his name sake God Lord have mercy let me go on now I ain't going to go on I'm going to read you what he might have read he might have read this he might have read Isaiah 51:12 he may have read it he may have read Isaiah 51 112 look at it closely I even I am he that comforteth you who art thou that thou should us be afraid of a man that shall die and the son of man which shall be made his grass and forget us the Lord thy maker that hath stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth and H has feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor as if he were ready to destroy and where is the fury of the op you know what God is saying who is Saul other than a man that's going to die who is who is the people after you other than people that are like grass green one day and brown the next I I mean and he says and and you have lost notice that I the Lord and the Creator you've lost notice that I I I am God oh oh there somehow today that I got preach to you get your eye off Soul get your eye off people and get your eye off the creator of the universe he is for you he's not against you he's went to Great length to give you Victory he loves you more than you can imagine and he's able to fight any and every battle for you and David in encouraged himself in the Lord his God first Samuel 30 and verse 6 and David encouraged himself in the Lord his God but now look at verse seven and David said to abiathar the priest imc's son I pray thee bring me hither the the ephod and abiathar brought hither the ephod and David inquired at the Lord saying shall I pursue after this Troth shall I overtake them and he answered pursue for Thou shalt surely overtake them and without fail recover all oh Lord help me right now can I tell you something although he was in a Strange Land somehow he kept the priest close to him somehow he's in a Strange Land been there for 16 months but somehow he keeps the priest with the copy of the law and and and the epod close by now why you are intoxicated with the world you don't see that the answer is right there in your word in the word of God you don't see that God has put people right beside you to say hey would you please listen to me hey would you please listen why you're intoxicated by the world I'm just a loud obnoxious preacher that holds you for about an hour or so on Sunday morning I I'm just some guy that you're going there in case you ever have some young children that need to be married he can marry them and he can give you a sweet little ceremony or when you die you ought to hear Pastor preach on F oh he's the best funeral preacher there he is he Don't Preach quite as long funerals I add that in oh man I'm I'm telling you so it's the best thing and you don't know that a pastor is more than just a marriage man and he's more than just a good funeral man he's a man that God can bring the word into your life and say right here's what you need right right right here what you need but you won't see the value of the word until you hit rock bottom but when you hit rock bottom you begin to come around and oh I'm so glad you're here today I'm so glad I'm I'm so glad I'm so glad you're here today I'm so glad you're here today you'll never hear this 5 foot 7 inch greeneyed preacher tell you that if you're not going to worship God what good is it for you to be here no no no there's a lot of people that don't understand the value of the house but they're in the house they don't understand the value of living for God but they're in the god I'd rather have them right here and I'd rather have them right here because when they hit rock bottom I'm going to be close by to bring the EOD when they hit rock bottom I'm going to be close by to bring them the word oh couple points couple am I doing all right this morning all right David said bring me the ephod now there's a lot of there's a lot of thoughts about this but let's just go with what what is apparently there the reason for the ephod was that the priest wore a very beautiful garment and as the priest began to slaughter animals and blood be to sling the ephod was there to protect the beautiful garments from blood stains but the ephod had the blood stain he said would you BL bring me The Blood Stained ephod today I don't know about you but I cried I cried during that video presentation today I cried during that video presentation that one that's twice I've heard I heard it once at at uh the Veterans Day for the school and that one phrase in there that Ronald Reagan says they deprived them themselves of becoming old men they've deprived them themselves of becoming men they could have become had they not that that just struck and I I just about cry about right now just thinking about it watching those young men go off to war and um I cried when the lady's Trio got up Not only was it just beautiful it just something about that that that blessed flag flying in the background telling about telling about when that flag was raised and they said we'll we we will send so many bombs we we we will burn it down oh say can you say does that Star Spangled Banner still fly is is it still there charred full of holes from the enemy but whole Glory kept on waving and and being an American you you begin to think about the price that's been paid for our freedom but that far pales in comparison to that Blood Stained ephod called the cross of Calvary that blood that was shed 2,000 years ago go that hell doesn't have a device hell doesn't have a scheme hell doesn't have the power to keep us down when that old blood stain would you give him praise oh stand with me today stand with me today give him praise right now oh thank you Lord oh thank you God thank you Lord L thank you for your blood that was shed for my freedom God thank you Lord thank you Lord thank you Lord come on thank you for the blood right now what can wash away my sins nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh what can make me whole again nothing but the blood of Jesus oh would you just feel this Auditorium with the voices of thankful people people that are thankful and grateful for the blood that was shed come on feel it feel it feel it right now feel it right now feel it right now if tomorrow everything I work for if tomorrow everything I work for I don't know the exact words brother Knuckles nickels knows the right words and I had to start all over with just my children and my wife I would thank my lucky stars and that man's writing about a nation he's writing about our nation but if tomorrow everything I ever work for the loneliest of moments never alone in the loneliest of moments at the mere mention of the name of Jesus there's somebody here today every head is bowed and every eyes closed there's somebody here today you are fighting loneliness so much you can't even believe that you you can't even believe that God would love you so much today you you've dismissed it as just a lucky chance the preacher got but I'm here to tell you something today as every head is bowed and every eyes closed You Are Not Alone Lady you're Are Not Alone sir I don't care the mistakes that you made that drove you out of the land of Israel and you fought the wrong battles for a long time right now on this Sunday morning there's a God that is saying I want him to encourage himself right now I want to encourage him right now I want to to tell him that I've never left him I I want to tell him that I'm going to have him recover all I want to have him recover all David David now learns his lesson Church David learns his lesson I've made too many mistakes on my own I've made too many mistakes I thought in my heart I made I I made a decision in my heart I I I've made too many now now God now God I'm not going to go to battle unless you tell me to go to battle God should I go to battle and will I recover and God says go to battle and you will recover all let me tell you something today you're not only going to get back what you lost God's going to give you more back God's going to give you more back and that's more than just a preacher trying to say good words because when David taken but then David looked around it's in the Bible First 1st Samuel 30 David looked around and he saw the Philistines he saw their cattle and their sheep and their oxen and the Bible said David
