you have your Bibles let's go to the book of Acts talk about fire brother Garnett let's go to the book of Acts this morning Acts chapter one and verse number eight and I couldn't help as I was rejoicing with the Garnett this morning couldn't help to think you know I'm glad to have friends that I can worship with and I'm glad he is probably on on the number one list of men that can get me tickled all right we have um he can he get me so tickled sometimes I think we were in a hotel in North Carolina one time and after service we got so tickled they called the front desk that y'all going to have to and U he had a plan he was preaching our watch Night Service it was going from 1999 boy how old we getting was going from 1999 to 2000 and he came and he said I got a plan to get a bunch of folks to the altar I said man let me hear it he said well you know they think that when the when the clock strikes midnight you know the computers and everything is going to you know y 2K you know Johnny James said that stood for you're too crazy but anyway um he said you know you know that everything's supposed to happen when the clock right he said uh he said let's get somebody right at midnight to go back there and pull the main breaker on the electrical box and he would have done it if I would have let him all right but aren't you glad to have friends you can worship with and friends that you can laugh with acts chap 1 verse number 8 but you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and you shall be Witnesses everybody say witnesses witnesses and you shall be Witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in Judea and in Samaria unto the uttermost part of the earth the book of Isaiah chapter 43 Verse number 10 the book of Isaiah chapter 43 Verse number 10 the word in Acts 1 and8 was Witnesses after the Holy Ghost has come upon you you shall be Witnesses Isaiah 43 and10 God says ye are my Witnesses sayeth the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he before me there was no God formed neither shall there be after me I even I am the Lord and beside me there is no savior I have declared and have saved I have showed when there was no strange God among you therefore ye are my Witnesses sayeth the Lord that I am God yay before the day was I am he and there is none that can deliver out of my hand I will work and and who shall let it just simply want to teach today and continue to teach on one God father I thank you this morning for your word I thank you Lord for your spirit that mixes with your word comes Lord into our ears and into our hearts and illuminates our mind oh God and Lord I pray today that you would help your servant you would help me God to preach and teach your word Lord I give you the praise and the honor and the glory in Jesus name we all pray amen amen you may be seated I thought today as a way of introduction to this Bible lesson that I would liken it to a tree you know you don't want to be a Christian you don't want to be a Christian that that's like leaves on a tree that are here today and gone tomorrow I don't I don't want to be that kind of a Christian that's here today and gone tomorrow neither do I want to be like a branch of a tree that can be blown off or cut off from the tree but if I want to be a part of that tree I want to be in the root system I want to be in the roots of that tree you see I think that maybe we need a little correction I thank God for Evangelistic preaching I thank God for preaching that they would call relevant preaching where people meeting people's needs I thank God for all of those for all of those subjects but yet there's no greater relevant subject than you and I getting roots in God's word understanding what we believe understanding what the Bible teaches and understanding why we do why we do what we do so today I stand before you as a witness for the Lord and I want to fulfill my purpose as a Christian and I want to share the scriptures with you this morning on the subject of one God and you will notice with me in the book of Acts chapter 1 verse number 8 that he said when the Holy Ghost comes upon you you will be a witness unto me you will be a witness about me I am not a witness today about Joy I'm not a witness today about Prosperity I'm not a witness today about family Prosperity although I will tell you if you will get roots in God God will give you you Joy if you get roots in God God will give you Prosperity if you get roots in God God will give you a family but you got to get the roots first he said I want you you are I'm going to give you my spirit and you are going to be a witness about me Isaiah chapter 43 opens it up even broader where he says in Isaiah 43 and verse 10 he says you are my Witnesses let's go back to that verse 10 Again Isaiah 43 and verse 10 he says you are my Witnesses sayth the Lord You're my servant that I have chosen and look at these next three words why am I a witness why am I a servant that is a witness why it is shown in the next three words that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he and before me there was no God form neither shall there be after me I would really take the task people that say that teaching on the roots of the church is archaic and not needed I find in my Bible That's the very reason that we are called to be witnesses that we may know and believe and understand look at those three words Know believe and understand the only way you can know is to be taught knowledge the only way you can believe is to choose to believe in your heart that what you're being taught is the word of God well what is understanding that's an interesting Hebrew word there it means to articulate it simply it means when you articulate it and you explain it that you do it in ways that's easy to understand so today God has given us the Holy Ghost and we are witnesses to him to be a witness that there is only one God there is only one God as a matter of fact today I would like for you to see in the Bible that the Bible does never does not speak of pluralities pluralities of persons in the godhead we say well brother Carpenter where did that came from where did it come from it come from the second and third Century men that had no knowledge or no personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ begin to meet in councils is what they called it and they begin to look at the Bible and not accept the Bible as face value and they begin to come up with this plurality of persons in a godhead but the Bible shows no plurality of persons Isaiah 43 and 10 once again I'll skim through it quickly he said I want you to be a witness I want you to know I want you to believe and I want you to understand that I am he does it sound like pluralities before me there was no God form doesn't sound like plurality neither shall there be after me so there's no God but there's no God before me and there's no God after me verse 11 see if you see plurality here I even I am the Lord and beside me there is no savior I have declared I have saved I have showed when there was no strange God among you therefore you are my Witnesses sayeth the Lord that I am God does it sound like plurality there yay before the day was I am he and there is none that can deliver out of my hand I will work in who will let me well brother carpent I really don't feel like this is a real essential Heaven or Hell subject today I I I really you know tomato tomato pan peon you you know it's kind of how we say it three and one one and three it's how we say it oh I I beg to I beg to I beg to differ with you today can we allow Jesus Christ to testify of how important it is Jesus I call you to the witness stand here and in John 8 verse 24 Jesus said I said therefore unto you that ye shall die in your sins now that sounds serious what it would mean to die in your sins you shall die in your sins for if you believe not that I am he ye shall die in your sins look at that that doesn't sound like some tomato tomato to me that doesn't sound like some just any halfhazard way that I want to go about believing let me tell you something when I want to believe who God is I want to go to the book of all books and I want to go to the word of God and I want somebody to teach me so that I can know that I can believe and then I want to be a witness for him that I can go around and start explaining it that I can EXP explain it that I can explain it to people you see the Bible presents to us that there's one God who has throughout history made himself known to us in many manifestations that's right God has manifested himself to us in many different ways one of the ways of many he appeared to Moses in a flame flame of fire in a burning bush and the Bush was burning but was not consumed that was a manifestation of God but we don't ever hear anybody teaching on God the burning bush God appeared as an angel many times throughout the Bible God manifested himself took on the appearance of an Angel the Angel of the Lord and God appeared but we don't we don't really hear people talking about God the angel we come to the parts that God manifested himself in and the Bible says that God is the father of creation God is the father of creation Malachi chapter 2 verse number 10 look at Malachi 2 and two 2 and10 have we not all how many fathers we got one father hath not one God created us so when we talk about God a manifestation of God is creation God is the father of creation not only that is not only is God the father of creation but God was the father of the Hebrew race he was the father of je of the Jewish religion Isaiah chapter 63 and verse 16 look at this with me listen to the Israelites doubtless Thou Art Our Father though Abraham be ignorant of us and Israel acknowledge us not oh thou oh Lord our art Our Father Our Redeemer and thy name is from Everlasting so God manifested himself as as the father of creation as the father of Israel another manifestation another manifestation of God for the purpose of redemption you see God had to create so we could be here so God has a purpose in his manifestation why is he the father of creation because he wanted an earth and he wanted a people thus he is the father of creation but then when man when Adam and Eve chose to sin in the garden there came a need for a redeemer and so we start talking about the son the Son of God which is for the purpose of redemption listen to this today closely anytime you see the word Sun connected to God it was and is for Redemption purpose if you hear the word Son of God it is for the Redemption purpose here we are in Isaiah 9 and6 For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name Shall be Called wonderful counselor the Mighty God the Everlasting father and the prince of peace it was for the purpose of redemption Matthew 1 and 23 behold the Virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and they shall call his name Emmanuel which being interpreted is God With Us anytime you see the word son you see the word son it is for the purpose it is for the purpose of redemption 1 John 3 and verse number 8 look at this closely with me the manifestation he manifested himself as the father of creation he's manifested himself as the son of redemption 1 John 3 and8 he that committeth sin is of the devil for the devil sinth from the beginning look at this for this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil so when father is mentioned the manifestation of of of God in creation as the father of creation is for creation purpose when son is mentioned the manifestation of son is mentioned it is for the purpose of redemption but now let's look at the term Holy Ghost Holy Ghost is a descriptive term used to describe the almighty God holy ghost is the descriptive term used to describe the almighty God habca 1 verse number 12 art thou not from Everlasting oh Lord my God my Holy One We Shall Not Die oh Lord thou Hast ordained them for judgment and ohmighty God thou Hast established them for correction so here he calls him the Holy One nowhere in the Bible is a holy two holy three or holy half dozen there's only one Holy One Luke chap 4 verse number 34 Luke 4 and verse number 34 listen to what they said to Jesus saying let us alone what have we to do with thee thou Jesus of Nazareth Art Thou come to destroy us I know who I Know Thee who Thou Art the Holy One Of God so now we see the term Holy Ghost used to describe the almighty God we receive the Holy Ghost now listen to this closely please holy describes his uniqueness there is none other holy like the Lord God he is unique of all unique he there is not another one like him he said it there's no God before me and neither will there be a God after me because I am the only unique I am the only one of my kind I am Holy Holy Holy describes his uniqueness none other holy like the Lord God and I'm going to tell you something friend there is power in Holiness I said there is power in Holiness now if you wonder if you if you'd like a little verse to go along with it I'll be kind enough to give it to you when Peter and John grabbed the lame man that had been lame from his mother's womb and called out the name of Jesus Christ and lifted him up and miraculously his feet ankle bones and legs received strength and he walked and leaped and prayed Raa God and was miraculously healed the crowd gathered around Peter and John and began to look at them with amazement to where Peter and John said to them why look you on us as if by our own power and Holiness we have made this man whole the Old Testament and the early New Testament Jews knew that there was power in Holiness they knew that any time that you got the holy go in your presence that you had power uniqueness that is available demons have to tremble at the holy presence of the King of Kings and the Lord of lords holy describes his uniqueness none other holy like God his Spirit describes his essence or his being God is Holy and God is Spirit put them together and God is the holy spirit or God is God is God is the Holy Ghost that's one of the reasons we teach emphatically on receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost yes too much emphasis has been made on the initial sign of the Holy Ghost of speaking in Heavenly language now I say that I I'm I'm say that I'm not saying we don't do it we don't preach it but when people just get their mind on well I got the Holy Ghost and my tongue moved a little bit and I didn't know what I was saying friend you are short changing yourself about the power of the Holy Ghost because God said be ye holy as I am Holy and the only way that I can be holy unique like he is is to receive his holy spirit on the inside that's why there's power with God and when a church believes in the baptism of the Holy Ghost and they believe that they they're f with the Holy Ghost there's power in that there's Miracle power in that there's life in that there's joy in that there's Deliverance in that in the Holy Ghost there's not a lock the devil has that the Holy Ghost can't break there's not a chain the enemy has the Holy Ghost can't snap there there's not a situation you can get in that the Holy Ghost can't Father Son and Holy Ghost manifestations of one God not three separate persons as second and third and fourth theologians wanted to tell us but I'd like to take the remainder of my Bible lesson today I'd like to take take the remainder of this Bible Lesson and address a few questions that have been asked to me last week when I finished the subject brother Carpenter if there's just one what did he mean in Genesis 1:26 Genesis chapter 126 if there's not plurality of the godhead in Genesis 1 126 it says and God said let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over the Earth and over all creeping things that creepeth upon the Earth the carpenter here is plurality let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea over the foul of the air let us make man there's plurality well please anytime you read a scripture anytime you read a scripture sometimes you need to read the scripture before and the scripture after and it can shed light Genesis 1 126 is what God said he was going to do but Genesis 127 is what God actually did so God Genesis 127 so God created man in his h i s his own image in the image of God created he him male and female created he them but we do need to address the L us the L us make man well let's go back to Creation Isaiah through prophecy takes us back to Creation so as we look at Isaiah 44 and 20 because if Genesis 1 126 is saying there was a plurality of persons in the godhead and they said let us make man there's a plurality of persons there let's see if Isaiah 444 Bears this out thus sayith the Lord thy Redeemer he that formed thee from the womb I am the Lord that maketh all things that stretcheth forth the heavens here here here we're in creation he said I want to tell you who I am you were not there you were not there God says so I want to tell you who I am I am the Lord that maketh all things that stretcheth forth the heavens alone that spreadeth abroad the Earth by my S but we still must deal with let us make man well let's go back to that for a moment if God is what the second third and fourth theologians say he is three separate distinct persons all right now I don't know how you make a person out of the spirit but I don't believe that so I don't have to worry about explaining that all right so three separate persons that are co-equal co-eternal now if there's three separate persons and these three separate persons all speak at the same time and say let us make man in our image after our likeness and the man was referred to as Adam how many men how many Adams should have been created if God is three there should have been three Adams there co-equal co-eternal all created the same moment in time and all with the same amount of power but there's not it was only one man there and God made man in his own image after his own likeness and you got to understand this about God too and I hope you're I I hope you're quiet today because you're listening when God speaks God speaks neither in the present neither in the past neither in the future God speaks in eternity now that that's hard because I'm speaking right now in the present I have spoken in the past I am speaking now in the present and the Lord keep me alive I'll speak in the future but when you're God you have no present past and future you are you see we we try to we try to understand God from our little finite minds but God never programmed you to understand through your finite brain he gave you his word which is forever settled in heaven and he said I want you to know my word I want you to believe my word and I want you to articulate my word that they may know that I am now you see the Bible says the Bible says that Jesus Christ was the lamb slain before the foundation of the world in the mind of God Calvary was not an afterthought of the Fall it wasn't that Adam and Eve Sinn and God said hey angels I need to call a special counsil and we need to decide what we're going to do it wasn't that Adam and Eve fell and the persons got together and the father said son I love you so much that I want you to go and die for them that that that is that doesn't even make sense to me I would take a bullet for one of my kids and you would too you would give your life for one of your kids and it doesn't even make sense that one person would tell another person to go and to go and die and go through the humiliation it doesn't and it doesn't make sense because it didn't happen come on what really happened was a loving God that dwells in eternity look down and knows the beginning from the end God looked down and had a master plan and God said I'll create an earth I'll create something lower than the Angels I'll create something that I can not only get into that I can become and when they fall I'll go be a redeemer and manifest my great love because I don't want to hide my love I am a god of love I am a god of unbelief able love and I don't want to contain it to a place called heaven and a place with the angels I want to demonstrate it on the woman caught in the act of adultery I want to demonstrate it on the on on people that need my Mercy can I tell you God didn't become merciful when he made man he was already merciful he didn't become merciful when he created us he was already merciful I wish somebody just helped me preach a little bit today oh I wish somebody just hold off and praise him right now I told somebody D they said why don't you have your t-shirt on Daddy I guess I just told who asked me dad why don't you have your t-shirt on I said I got a I said I got a good Bible lesson today and I said this Baby's liable to go viral and I don't want to be wondering if I'll wear a t-shirt every time I teach amen and that's a God's honest truth I hope this Bible lesson goes viral today I I hope listen I I hope it goes around the world I hope it goes to Rome I hope it goes to places they've never heard it that somebody will begin to say man I can see that now I can know that now I can believe that now I can explain that now I heard somebody just now say he's crazy I know that you see God who dwells in eternity who already had the plan spoke and said let us make man and Romans even Romans even says it that Jesus that Jesus was the image but God is able to look down and say you see he's able to look down and say let us make man in our image in our likeness and let them have dominion he was able to speak as God in Bethlehem had already happened let us make man after our image after our likeness but again what would it mean for wisdom what would it mean what would it mean let us make man we we need to keep hammering at that for a moment what does it mean let us make man now let us make man was a phrase used at creation everybody say at creation everybody say it was said at creation so at creation the the phrase let us make man was M was was mentioned Proverbs 3:19 the Lord by wisdom hath founded the Earth by understanding he hath established the heavens can I tell you that we don't have to live in fear of trying to come up with a new green deal we don't have to live in fear you hear me today we don't have to live in fear of global warming we don't have to now I think we need to take care of our Earth oh I I feel that little tremble oh no no I think we have to take care of our Earth but don't worship your Earth because this Earth was not founded by Steve Jobs this Earth was not founded by Albert Einstein this Earth was founded by the allmighty God you know how long the Sun is going to shine until he tells it not to shine you know how long it's going to go round and round until he tells it not to do it but until that day thank you Lord thank you Lord thank you Lord thank you Lord the Lord by wisdom hath founded the Earth by understanding he hath established the heavens Proverbs 8:22 2 listen to Proverbs 8:22 the Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way before his works of old I was set up from Everlasting from the beginning or orever the Earth was when there was no depths I was brought forth when there was no fountain abounding with water before the mountains were settled before the hills was I was brought forth while as yet he had not made the Earth nor the fields nor the highest part of the Dust of the world that's man when he when he prepared the heavens I was there when he set a compass upon the face of the de de when he establish the clouds above when he strengthened The Fountains of the deep when he gave to the Sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment when he appointed The Fountains of the earth I was there who was there wisdom was there so one biblical explanation for let us make man was man was made in the wisdom of God but I like Ephesians chap 1:1 Ephesians chap 1:1 says it this way in whom also we have obtained an inheritance being predestined destinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will who was he speaking to when he said let us make man it wasn't a who it was a what and it was wisdom it was wisdom now let's go to my final question that was asked last week well brother Carpenter if what about the right hand of God it's a good question because it says it many times in the Bible the right hand of God but you understand when you have the total focus that God is an omnipresent Spirit he's an all-present Spirit present everywhere at the same time that it would be impossible to get to the right hand physically of of a God that FS all and all but again let's just don't leave you there what does it mean well it's figurative language it's figurative language it's language that is used in using human terms to describe the almighty to describe the almighty now it's a figurative term it is a term the right hand of God refers to a place of power and position and honor with man before the fall man Adam had a place of honor and a power and position with God after the fall man lost his honor and man lost his power so the right hand of God the right hand of God is used in a figurative language while we do the same thing today if we've got a person that works with us or works for us and they're real profitable we will say we will say something like that's my rightand man well that don't mean there that don't mean they're standing on on the right hand of you they're just simply saying man that that's my go-to man that's my right hand man right there or or as many women that work in this church and we have to say that's my right hand W man you know Mark 16:19 let's finish this up Mark 16:19 so then after the Lord had spoken unto them he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God there it is acts chap 2 and verse 33 Peter preaching therefore being by the right hand hand of God exalted in having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost he has shed for this which you now see in here now if you take 19 of Mark literal that Jesus is sitting on the right hand of God if you take it literal and I'm not trying to be funny or cute I'm just trying to teach to you the Bible because if we're going to really emphasize one word we got to emphasize all words if we're going to emphasize us means plurality then then we need to emphasize here that then Mark 1619 so then after the Lord had spoken unto them he was received up into heaven and set on the right on on I mean we're going to make us a Doctrine we need to make on a Doctrine but that would be ridiculous wouldn't it he said on the right hand it's figurative if we're going to take it literal that means that three days at that night that the Romans guarded the tomb because look at acts 2:33 therefore being by the right hand of God exalted and having received to the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost he has shed forth this which you now see in here if we really believe it literally then we believe that that night when his body was in that tomb that the literal right hand of God reached down pushed the stone away and pulled him out of that tomb and none of us believe that not literally but figuratively acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be the prince and savior Isaiah 41 and10 going back Isaiah 41:10 listen to God fear thou not for I am with thee be not dismayed for I am thy God I will strengthen thee yay I will will help thee yay I will uphold thee with my right hand of my righteousness we know that the people in the Old Testament didn't have God's right hand leading them it's once again Church a figurative and and and please I hope you're hearing this today to believe this today to go out in our community and our world and share this today figurative Exodus 15 and8 look at this Moses describes the splitting of the Red Sea Exodus 15 and8 and with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together the flood stood up as a heap and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea Moses is describing the The Parting of The Waters at the Red Sea and he says by the nostrils of God you can't take that literal God's nose a big huge nose didn't poke down through the cloud and blow on the sea God is just showing his awesome power using human terms saying all it took was a little sneeze and I divided a red sea oh what a God we serve today what a God we serve today Luke 11 and 20 musicians would you come Luke 11 and 20 listen to Jesus Luke 11:2 Jesus says these words but if I with the Finger of God cast out Devils no doubt the kingdom of God has come to you now we all know we all know that when Jesus cast out Devils he didn't reach around in his robe and get the Finger of God and he's talking figurative please keep that in mind with the right hand he's talking figurative he says when I get ready to handle what's causing you to foam at the mouth when I get ready to handle what's causing you to catch yourself and burn yourself in the fire when I get ready to handle what torments you day and night it just takes a finger I just have to flick it off you it's just it's just I listen too many people watch Hollywood movies about exorcism and Priests getting blown out windows and beds jumping up and down and heads doing 360 and all that junk not happening I was doing a camp meeting somewhere between here and Vietnam and they came and got me and they said we got a girl over here with the devil in her and said well come help us and I went over there and man these guys were down in the floor and and and holding her and all this and I said I'm not being a part of that I I said I'm I'm not being part of that come find out the girl didn't want to pray the girl was rebellious and the girl didn't want to pray she had a devil in her but was it was a different devil she just had a devil that's a natural she didn't want to pray and people tried to make her pray and she started fighting them and when they start there's a devil in her and they wrestled her down the poor kid just wanted up sorry that's it that's the story I said I'm I told the man I said I'm not going to do I'm not having anything he said why not I said that's not how you cast The Devil out you don't cast The Devil out by binding them hands and feet you cast The Devil out by saying in the name you talk to him Devil by the authority of the name of Jesus Christ that I took on when I was water baptized the Lord rebuke you come on stand with me right now the Lord rebuke you what power oh my God what power what power I got news for you today God's able to take a Bible study on the Oneness of God and build faith in your heart today you can talk to that devil right now if you've been baptized in Jesus name the Devils that want to cause all kinds of hell and Chaos in your home you can walk in your home this afternoon and start saying devil tired of you wrecking this house devil I'm tired of you messing around devil I'll prove point to you I'll prove point to you now my brother serving God Kathy my sister sister tiip my brother-in-law I'm not talking about family issues here today my brother my our brother Jerry is serving God now but boy he went through a rough time in his life of drugs and imprisonment y'all know all about it but when we lived in the same house I was trying to serve God he had come home in the middle of the night turn his stereo up loud you dare not try to talk to him cuz he cuss you out you dare not try to talk to him because he' do all kind of ugly things and and he was on he's on drugs he's a different man today but that was his behavior he cuss you out he throw throw ice water on you throw anything on you one night he come in I knew better than fuss with him he came in he had a big old stereo and he playing that walls was vibrating I thought to myself well I'm might as well just get in here and pray can't sleep might as well pray right I just got up sh praying now my one voice sister Tim is not as loud as his big boom boxes my one prayer ain't rattling the walls matter of fact I wouldn't even think my voice could overpower his speakers but I got to praying for a few moments I caught on to it I got to praying for a few moments but all of a sudden boom boom boom boom boom on my door he said what are you doing in there I said I'm praying I said I make a deal with you you turn your stereo off I'll go told the Ed won't pray he said that's a deal you know what that was that was a devil knowing hey that boy's over there in the Next Room praying angels are going to come down in this house Ang are going to come down and it's still available to us today it's still available to us today oh God come on say the name of Jesus worship the name of Jesus right now now listen to me right now right hand figurative right hand figurative let me say my last thing who was he praying to on the cross well go on back who was he praying to on the cross let me ask you this who was he praying to in the garden who was he praying to at the tomb of Lazarus he why did he pray because he was as much human as you and I finally some want to be a little skeptic and they want to say is Jesus his own father absolutely not Humanity cannot beget deity but deity can beget Humanity that you may know that you you may believe and that you may understand that
