Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Ready to Give an Answer
- The purpose of the lesson is to prepare our minds to be a witness in the world we live in: “Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15).
- “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
- Everyone who has the baptism of the Holy Ghost should be able to give a biblical answer, because the power is not in our opinion — the power is in the text; God does not anoint opinions or religions, but God will anoint the text.
Scriptures: 1 Peter 3:15; Acts 1:8
God Is a Spirit
- Tonight the one God is looked at by his essence: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24) — there is only one God, not two, not three, and this God is an omnipresent, omnipotent, all-knowing Spirit.
- “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:17): God is an invisible Spirit, who cannot be seen with our natural eyesight.
- When the risen Jesus stood in the midst of the terrified disciples, who supposed they had seen a spirit, he said, “Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” — Jesus is not a spirit; the invisible God made himself known in the flesh.
Scriptures: John 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Luke 24:36-39
The Image of the Invisible God
- Speaking of Jesus Christ: he “hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature” (Colossians 1:13-15).
Scriptures: Colossians 1:13-15
The Father of Creation
- “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”; the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, and God said, Let there be light: and there was light (Genesis 1:1-3) — the God who is Spirit spoke, and creation came into being; thus we refer to him as the Father of creation.
- “Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?” (Isaiah 40:12-14) — can you tell me who was teaching God on creation day?
- “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding” (Isaiah 40:28).
- “Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?” (Malachi 2:10) — when we use the term Father we are referencing the act of the Spirit of God, the Father of creation.
Scriptures: Genesis 1:1-3; Isaiah 40:12-14; Isaiah 40:28; Malachi 2:10
Holy Men Spake as They Were Moved
- Prophecy is God speaking to man about the future: “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21) — and when we say Holy Ghost we are referring right back to God who is a Spirit.
- He spoke to Isaiah: “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).
- Every true prophecy from God will come to pass: “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” (Matthew 1:22-23).
Scriptures: 2 Peter 1:21; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:22-23
Prophesied Suffering, Fulfilled
- Isaiah prophesied: “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5) — fulfilled when “Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him” (John 19:1).
- “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth” (Isaiah 53:7) — and before Pilate, when the chief priests and elders accused him, “he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly” (Matthew 27:13-14).
- “He made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth” (Isaiah 53:9) — fulfilled when Joseph of arimathea, a rich man and himself Jesus' disciple, laid the body in his own new tomb and rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre (Matthew 27:57).
Scriptures: Isaiah 53:5; John 19:1; Isaiah 53:7; Matthew 27:13-14; Isaiah 53:9; Matthew 27:57-60
The Holy Ghost Shall Come Upon Thee
- Mary asked the angel, “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?” and the angel answered: “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:34) — the same God who moved on the face of the waters hovered over a virgin; the birth was not miraculous, but the conception was.
- Jesus said to Satan: “It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:10) — yet the wise men came into the house, saw the young child with Mary his mother, fell down and worshipped him, and presented unto him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh; and being warned of God in a dream, they departed into their own country another way (Matthew 2:11-12).
- If Jesus is not God, the wise men are lawbreakers and God would do them no favour; but Jesus is God — the fleshly manifestation of the one God who is a Spirit — and when you worship Jesus you are worshiping God.
Scriptures: Luke 1:34-35; Matthew 4:10; Matthew 2:11-12
My Father's Business
- At twelve years old he was found in the temple, and when his parents told him they had sought him sorrowing, he said: “How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?” (Luke 2:49) — he is not referring to Joseph the carpenter, but to the Father of creation, the Spirit of God that caused that conception.
- “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:1-11).
- To Thomas he said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him”; and to Philip: “Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:1-11).
- As man he slept in a storm, hungered, and prayed; as God he stilled the winds, fed the multitude, and answered prayer — as man he was the sacrifice for sin, and as God he was the great high priest who received the sacrifice; the Father is not a person like Jesus is, for the Father is the omnipresent Spirit, and the fulness of the Godhead dwelt bodily in him.
Scriptures: Luke 2:49; John 14:1-11
God Alone
- Job says of God that he “alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea” (Job 9:8) — God alone can walk on the water, and it was fulfilled when the disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea and supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out (Mark 6:49).
- They lowered a crippled man through a roof, and when Jesus saw their faith he said unto the sick of the palsy, “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee” (Mark 2:5-12); the scribes reasoned, “Who can forgive sins but God only?” — and they were right about that, for when we sin we offend God, and only God can forgive sin.
- “But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the sick of the palsy, “Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house”; and immediately he arose before them all, insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion (Mark 2:5-12).
Scriptures: Job 9:8; Mark 6:49; Mark 2:5-12
I Will Pour Out My Spirit
- The cross of Calvary was not the end of the plan: God's ultimate plan was to move by his Spirit back into the heart of man, as he had been in the Garden of Eden. Joel prophesied: “It shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit” (Joel 2:28).
- Isaiah tells us what to look for: “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people: to whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear” (Isaiah 28:9-12).
- Through Ezekiel God said: “I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 11:19) — and the baptism of the Holy Ghost is the most wonderful thing you will ever receive; keep it active in your life, and the fruit of the Spirit will grow.
- In Christ, after you heard the word of truth and believed, “ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession” (Ephesians 1:13-14): the Holy Ghost is God's earnest money in us, until he comes back with the full payment and we are changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.

of people you share the story with them and you see their lives and and how that God has moved their lives around and and they've been married and they have children and and and and I I think often and I know you're standing but I I just got on a just something I want to say you know um you know you take um you take like the Hawkins Ken and Lori we were privileged to marry them years ago we're sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear be ready to give an answer Peter says Acts chapter 1 verse number eight but you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be Witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the Earth I'm going to go back tonight and continue to teach on one God put your Bibles down pray with me that God will open your hearts father I come before you tonight as the sower of the seed I come before you tonight God as the pastor of this work Lord I come God before you with the ministry of sowing the word of God from pages into fleshly hearts Lord I ask you this evening that you would anoint my lips of clay that I would be able God to rightly divide your word and I would be able God to cause Revelation to ignite in the hearts of men and women that are here and to those that are watching online Lord I will give you the praise and I will give you the honor in Jesus name we pray amen and amen you may be seated the purpose of the lesson the purpose of the lesson tonight is to prepare our minds to be a witness in our world that we live in to prepare our minds that we can give a Biblical answer when we are asked by the world that needs Jesus and needs the word of God that we can give a Biblical answer we can multiply here tonight more than just a pastor that can give a Biblical answer but when everyone that has the baptism of the Holy Ghost according to God's word should be able to give a Biblical answer when you're asked of the hope that is within you you should be able to say the Bible says the Bible says because always remember the power is not in our opinion that the power is in the text the power is in the text God doesn't anoint opinions and God doesn't anoint religions but God will anoint the text if we give an answer God will anoint the text one God last week I dealt a lot with the number one the number one but tonight I want to look at it from another angle and I find a text in John chapter 4 verse number 24 Jesus is giving the explanation he says in John 4 24 God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth last week we dealt with the number one there is only one God not two not three not nine twelve or 23. there is only one God tonight we're going to look at this God by his essence is Spirit Jesus said in John 4 24 that God is a spirit now I could add and tell you that not only is God a spirit he is an omni present spirit he is an omnipresent spirit Omni means all in present he is all present what does that mean that means wherever you are God is he is an omni present Spirit an omni present spirit now he's not only an omnipresent he's omnipotent that we're means all-powerful he is all present he is all-powerful and God is all he is all-knowing turn with me to First Timothy chapter 1 verse 17 and I I was asked after Sunday night I said pastor is there any way that we could get all the scripture you were trying to write the scripture down and after I will take my notes tonight and I will send them through a committee to make sure they're grammatically correct all right because they're not all right and once that gets done I will share I will share the notes tonight the the notes tonight that I that I have uh First Timothy chapter 1 verse 17. Paul says now unto the king eternal immortal invisible the only wise God be honor and Glory forever and ever amen so now we know that God is Not only just a spirit but God is an invisible spirit a spirit that cannot be seen with our natural eyesight we cannot see him with our natural eyesight he is an invisible spirit turn with me to Luke chapter 24 verse number 36. it's an event that happened in the life of Jesus and the apostles and it says and as they thus fake they're they're in a they're they're in a in a room and Jesus has been crucified they have visibly seen Jesus crucified and they have visibly seen him put in a tomb and the next thing three days later they're in a room they're afraid that they will be found out by the religious system and so it says in verse 36 and as they speak of course they're talking about fear Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and saith unto them peace be unto you that they were terrified and a frightened look at those two words they weren't just a frightened they were terrified and are frightened you put those words together fear struck they were terrified in a frightened and supposed they had seen a spirit they believed that they had seen a spirit now to read this you must understand a custom that they had in that day where they believed if you ever saw the Spirit of one who had died if you ever saw the Spirit of the one who had died whom they believed in that day that the spirit looked similar to the outside that if you ever saw the Spirit of a departed one that that Spirit had come to get you to all right so now we kind of see the reason they're terrified and a frightened because they believe they're seeing the spirit of Jesus and that he's there to take them with him verse 38. and he said unto them why are you troubled and why do thoughts arise in your hearts behold my hands and my feet that it is I myself handle me and see for a spirit hath not Flesh and Bones as you see me have in other words they thought he is a spirit and Jesus said no no no no no no I'm not a spirit because a spirit does not have flesh you're not seeing what you think you're seeing a spirit doesn't have Flesh and Bones it is an invisible Spirit God is a spirit Colossians chapter 1 verse 13. watch how Paul presents this speaking of Jesus Christ in verse 13. he said who hath delivered us from the power of Darkness that's Jesus Christ have delivered us from the power of darkness and have translated us into the kingdom of his dear son in whom we have Redemption through his blood even the Forgiveness of sins who are we talking about we're talking about Jesus Christ look at verse 15. who is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of every creature so now we're understanding that God is a spirit God is an omnipresent Spirit God is an omnipotent spirit but not only not only that that God made himself known in the flesh the man Jesus Christ can you say Amen now let's talk about the father of creation the father of creation because we must understand that when we refer to the father of creation we are referring to God as a spirit God is a spirit Genesis chapter 1 verse number one the very first verse of the Bible in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and uh follow along with me now and the spirit of God moves upon the waters God is a spirit and the spirit of God moved upon the waters and God said let there be light and there was light so we begin to understand now that God who is spirit is the father of creation that this God who is Spirit is the father of creation this God who is Spirit moved upon the waters this God who is Spirit spoke out and when this God who his Spirit spoke out creation began creation came into being let there be light and there was light and the whole Genesis story is about God who is Spirit speaks and creates and thus we can refer to God as the father of creation he is the father of creation Isaiah chapter 40 verse number 12. God showing his power God demonstrated his power because again as I said last week a lot of Isaiah is written because of the people of Israel are worshiping idols and God Compares himself to these idols he says in verse 12 who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand you want to know how vast God is God measured all the waters in the hollow of his hand he's trying to give you some imagery to tell you how vast that God is God is a spirit he measured the drops of water in the hollow of his hand and made it out or measured out with a span and comprehended the dust of the Earth in a measure I like what Johnny James would say some scientists came up and told how heavy the world weighs Johnny James simply asked I'd like to see those scales I'd like to see those scales no man knows exactly how much the world weighs but God measured and comprehended the dust in a measure and weighed the mountains and scales and the hills and a balance and then he says this who hath directed The Spirit of the Lord or being his counselor had taught him what he's saying there to Israel is can you tell me who was teaching me on Creation Day can you tell me who was directing God on Creation Day with whom took he counsel and who instructed him and taught him the path of judgment and taught him in knowledge and showed to him the way of understanding in other words God is just saying who was my teacher he's showing how vast and Powerful that he is again in Isaiah 40 and verse number 28 he simply asked a series of questions to us hast thou not known hast thou not known hast thou not heard that the Everlasting God the Lord the creator of the ends of the Earth fainteth not neither is weary there is no searching of his understanding he said haven't you heard of how vast I am haven't you heard of how powerful I am and he goes on and on I brought this scripture to you last week Malachi 2 10 in reference to God is a spirit and this Spirit God is the father of creation Malachi 2 10 spells this out plainly it simply says have we not all one father hath not one God created us why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother by profaning the Covenant of the father of our fathers what was he saying to Israel there I'm your father I'm your father I'm your creator there wouldn't be an earth without me there wouldn't be an Israel without me there wouldn't be a you without me so let's don't get confused when we begin to use the term father we are referencing the act of the spirit of God the Father of creation now this father of creation this father of creation had plans for the future Adam and Eve sinned Adam walked into sin and walked humanity and headlong into sin and this God who is Spirit and this God who is love had a plan for our future I'm so glad he had a plan for our future I'll just give you something to chew on for a moment the angels are pretty special the Angels were created being by created Created beings of God but do you know that when one third of the Angels chose to go in Rebellion against God and be like God or try to be like God I should say do you know that God cast him out of heaven and do you know that God never implemented a Redemption plan for those angels he cast those creative beings Out of Heaven and you'll find not one place in Scripture that God had a Redemptive plan for those angels that you and I were different we were made a little lower than the angels because we were made a little lower than the Angels when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden God already had a Plan of Redemption you realize that you realize that the god that we Embrace tonight in our praise and worship doesn't want to leave you broken the god that we Embrace tonight in our praise and our worship is a redeeming God he is a god of restoration he is not a god of three strikes and you're out he's not that kind of God I I don't serve that kind of God I serve a god that is a Redemptive God I serve a god that is looking for ways he'll even plant messages in Preachers Hearts knowing you'll be sitting on the Pew knowing that you're going to hear those words because he wants to draw you to the altar what I gotta let's take a moment praise him right now just what a God that he is tonight oh I thank you tonight that you're a Redemptive God oh yes Lord I Thank you tonight that you are a redempting not one thing was done for the Angels but man is different God had a plan for the beginning and God begin to speak to men to record what would happen in the future God began to speak to men look at second Peter II Peter chapter one verse number 21. second Peter chapter 1 verse number 21. for the prophecy what is prophecy God speaking to man about the future I want you to see that again with me what is prophecy prophecy is God speaking to man about the future God who is Spirit speaks to the heart of a man and a man begins to write it down and a man begins to speak it First Peter 1 21 for the prophecy came not in Old Time by the will of man it wasn't men that wanted this but holy men of God spake as they removed by the Holy Ghost now when we say holy ghost we are referring right back to that scripture God is a spirit God is a spirit and so we begin to to see the characteristics of God God is Holy oh we don't even I I don't even I don't even know tonight how many times in the Bible God is referred to as a holy God a separate God and so you take that God is Holy and you put it beside his spirit and we refer to him the Bible refers to him as the holy ghost or the Holy Spirit so where did we get prophecy at the Holy Ghost the Holy Spirit The God Who is Spirit moved upon men holy men and they spake as they were moved on by the Holy Ghost it sounded something like this he spoke to Isaiah in Isaiah chapter 7 and verse number 14. he spoke to Isaiah and he said these words therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel now you can't tell me that when this man Isaiah prophesied this it didn't make any sense to him virgins don't conceive if a virgin conceives she ceases to be a virgin but God spoke to Isaiah and Isaiah wrote it out I will give you a sign Jehovah says a virgin shall conceive and be with child and thou shall call his name Emmanuel what does this mean well it came to pass you see every true Prophecy from God will come to pass it came to pass in Matthew chapter number one in verse number 22. now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying Behold a virgin shall be with child and shall call his and and shall bring forth a son and they shall call his name Emmanuel what does that mean which being interpreted is god with us so we see that the spirit of God moved upon holy men of God and they foretold what the future would be this happened in Jesus Christ as a matter of fact Isaiah prophesied again in Isaiah 53 and verse number 5. listen to him prophesy again but he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed Isaiah prophesied that this person that would be bruised for us that his stripes would be the bases for our healing this was fulfilled in John chapter 19 the Gospel of John chapter 19 and verse number one Isaiah prophesied it it came to passed in John 19 and 1 then pilate therefore took Jesus and scourged him that man he took and put stripes on his back can I tell you something tonight this Bible Lesson ought to cause us to have that much more confidence in the word of God holy men of God spoke as they were moved on by the Holy Ghost Isaiah said they'll Scourge You by his stripes were healed pilate had Stripes put upon his back Isaiah chapter 53 verse 7 again Isaiah prophesying of this he says that he was oppressed he was afflicted yet he opened not his mouth he is he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before his shears is dumb that means it doesn't speak so he opened not his mouth Isaiah prophesied that whoever this was that was being slaughtered would not so much is open his mouth this was fulfilled in Matthew and Matthew chapter 27 verse 13. then said pilate unto him unto Jesus you hear thou not how many things they witness against thee he says don't you hear what they're saying about you hey Nazarene hey Jesus don't you hear what they're saying about you watch how he fulfills scripture and he answered him to never a word in so much that the governor marveled greatly the governors threw his hands up he's not saying they're accusing him of all this stuff they're accusing him of all this stuff and he's not rebelling he's not speaking back to them in the governor says don't you hear what they're saying don't you have something to say yes he does I'm going to silently allow the scriptures to be fulfilled again Isaiah 53 9 Isaiah prophesies God had it so pinpoint he said and he made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death because he had he had done no violence neither was any deceit in his mouth Isaiah prophesied that his grave would be a rich man's grave it would be the grave that a rich person would be would be buried in how could this happen he's a poor carpenter how could this happen he has no wealth he borrows a donkey he doesn't even have his own transportation Jesus Jesus borrowed his donkey he borrowed a donkey to ride he borrowed an upper room to have the Passover in even somebody said he borrowed it to him that's right he's a good businessman you're only going to use something three days don't buy it just rent it you know going back to the prophecy he'd be buried in the rich man's tomb Matthew chapter 27 verse 57. he's been crucified now and when the evening was come there came a rich man of armathea named Joseph who also himself was Jesus disciple he went to pilate and begged the body of Jesus then pilate commanded the body of Jesus to be delivered when Joseph had taken the body he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth and laid it in his own new tomb which he had hewed out in the Rock and he rolled a great Stone to the door of the Sepulcher and departed can I tell you tonight once again just doing the Bible study for this Bible study tonight causes me to squeeze my little my Bible a little closer to my chest and know that this word of God is real and it can be depended it can be dependent on give him a hand to praise right now in Luke chapter 1 verse number 34 an angel appears to Mary the angel tells Mary that she is going to Bear the Son of God the Messiah Israel's savior and then Mary says in verse 34 then said Mary unto the angel how shall this be seeing I know not a man how am I going to Bear a child how will I be pregnant and I know not a man follow closely and the angel said unto her answered and said unto her the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called The Son of God once again going all the way back to John 4 24 God is a spirit that same God created and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said let there be light and there was light and God said in the creation came into being and thus he is the father of all creation that now the world needs a savior a flesh and blood savior and so this same God that moved on the face of the waters and we have creation that same God hovered over a virgin girl that same God hovered over her and that same God caused there to be a Divine miraculous conception now the birth of Jesus Christ was not miraculous he was nine months in the womb uh give or take a few days just like all of us were but what was miraculous was not his birth what was miraculous was his conception because Mary is pregnant as any woman has ever been pregnant with one exception she doesn't know a man because this baby is going to be different than any man that's ever been born because this baby is going to be the s-o-n Flesh of the Living God this child is going to be the son of the Living God can you say Amen now Jesus is either God if he's not God if he's not God don't put another wise man manger saying up because the wise men if he's not God are law Breakers and here is my proof of this Jesus said in Matthew 4 10 to Satan Satan it is written Thou shalt Worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve so now it's written in the Commandments you can only worship the Lord thy God let's go to Matthew Chapter 2 and verse 11 the wise men arrive at the house where the baby Jesus is at Matthew 2 11 and when they were coming to the house they saw the young child with Mary his mother and fell down and worshiped him and when they had opened their Treasures they presented unto him gifts gold frankincense and myrrh if they are law Breakers if they are if Jesus isn't God they've just broken one of The Commandments but I've got good news to tell you tonight Jesus is God Jesus is the fleshly manifestation of John 4 24 God is a spirit he is the fleshly manifestation of that one God if they were law Breakers do you think the next verse would actually be there if they actually broke the law of God which would have displeased god with the next verse be there verse 12. and being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod they departed into their own country another way would God do them a favor no because they were worshiping they were worshiping God and when you worship Jesus you are worshiping God he's the all he is the almighty God now Jesus had some interesting things to say of course you do know that there were times that Jesus spoke as a man there were times that Jesus spoke as almighty God there were times he is called the son of man what's that referring to his Humanity there were times he was called the Son of God what's that refer to his divinity he was both God and man as man he slept on a boat in a storm ask God he got up walked to the bow of that boat and commanded the winds to cease and the waves to lay down as man he said I'm hungry as God he fed a multitude as man he would steal away and pray But as God the leper would say I pray you if it's your will heal me and he would say I will and he could answer he could answer prayer as man he was the sacrifice for sin as God he was the great high priest that received the sacrifice for sin he's 12 years old when this verse happened he's 12 years old when this happened they went to Jerusalem to worship and got busy and went home and forgot to take Jesus with them back home with them they begin to look for him and they were look for him and they were panicking and finally in Luke 2 49 they found him he was in the temple and they said how is it that your father and I have sought after and looked for you we've been looking for you and he said in verse 49 and he said unto them how is it that you sought me wished you not that I must be about my fathers business father's business father's business your father's a carpenter he works wood tables chairs hammers chisels nails your father has no business in this Temple Jesus is not referring to Joseph his supposed father but he's referring to the Holy Ghost the father of creation spirit of God that caused that conception matter of fact this is so beautifully brought out in John 14 and 1 follow along with me follow along with me please Jesus in John 14 and 1 is letting the disciples know that he'll soon go to Calvary you'll soon be buried as soon Ascend into heaven he says to them upon this news let not your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in me in my father's house or many mansions if it were not so I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there you may be also and whether I go you know and the way you know he says you know where I'm going and you know the way Thomas thank God thank God for people that ask questions thank God for people that would be there wouldn't be one thing wrong tonight matter of fact I would entertain it it would be the joy of my heart if there's something that you hear tonight and this is he said I'd like to ask him just wait around just wait around and coming in thank God for people to ask questions thank God Thomas thank you Thomas saith in him Lord we know not whether thou goest how can we know the way Jesus said unto him Thomas I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the father but by me if you had known me you should have known my father also and from henceforth you know him and hath seen him I want to thank somebody else for a question now verse 8 Philip saith unto him Lord show us the father and it's Sofia or satisfy Philip says wait a minute I've seen you I've seen the father Philip says Hey Lord would you show us the father and if you could show us the father it was suffice or it would satisfy us Jesus saith unto him have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me Philip he that has seen me has seen the father how sayest thou then show us the father we show you the father if you see me you've seen the father believeth thou not that I am in the father and the father in me the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself but the father where's he dwell but the father that dwelleth in me he doeth The Works women the father's in heaven I heard Jesus pray the father's in heaven but now he's saying he's in him both right you're both right because he's an omnipresent spirit he's the omnipresent Spirit the father is not a person like Jesus is a two-armed two-legged one-headed two-eared person the father is the spirit and the spirit is omnipresent and Jesus can say he's in me and in him the Bible said the fullness of the godhead dwelt bodily in him but not all of God dwelt in that one man not all of God dwelt that's why Jesus can be standing in one place tell a man your servant 20 miles away is healed and when that man takes him a day to get back to his servant he finds a servant that he left sick not and death up and running about and he says to the servant when did you get better and he said about this time yesterday and when he said the time the man said it was about that time that he said that you were healed how did he do that as man he could only cover the ground he stood upon But as God he could move around the world because he is the Omni present God Philip Jesus said unto him have I been so long time with you verse 9. and yet hast thou not known me Philip he that has seen me has seen the father has seen the father how sayest thou then show us the father believeth thou not that I am in the father and the father in me the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself but the father that dwelleth in me he doeth works he doeth the works believe me that I am in the father and the father in me said either believe me for that or else believe me for the very work sake if you don't believe me for what I'm saying believe me for what I'm doing what man can turn water into wine what man can take a basket of fish and bread and feed thousands of people what man can stand at the Tomb of the Lazarus a man that's been dead four days a man that ought to be stinking by now from corruption what man has ever stood and said Lazarus come forth it has been said and I partly believe it that he just didn't say come forth for had he come forth all the graves would have opened but he specified just one man Lazarus come forth what Mortal man can do Miracles they can't they can't if a miracle is done it is God and Jesus is saying to Philip if you don't believe me for my teaching then believe me for my my Works sake believe me job makes an interesting comment about God that I want to bring this out in Job chapter in Job chapter 9 and verse number 8. God begins to describe himself and he says in job 9 and verse number 8 which alone everybody say alone talking about God Alone God Alone which alone spreadeth out the heavens alone treteth upon the waves of the sea treteth that word treteth there means to walk to walk on the scene to walk on the water God Alone God Alone can tread or walk on the sea that's why we find in Mark 6 and verse 49 oh I love this but when they saw Jesus walking on the sea they suppose they had seen a spirit and they cried and they cried out can I tell you God just gave a little prophecy over in job and said I'm the only one that can walk on water and it was fulfilled when Jesus came walking on the water to them Jesus Jesus is God they tore the roof off of a house one day they tore the roof off of a house one day and they lowered a crippled man through the roof the Bible said in Mark 2 5. when Jesus saw their faith he said unto the sick of the palsy son thy sins be forgiven thee but there were certain of the scribes sitting there and reasoning in their hearts why does this man speak blasphemies who can forgive sins but God only they're right about that they're right about that when we sin we offend God and only God can give you forgiveness of sin you hear me only God can forgive you of your sin they said he just forgaved that man of his sins only God can forgive sin and immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they reasoned within themselves he said unto them why reason ye these things in your heart whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy sins be forgiven thee or to say arise and take up thy bed and walk he said it is the same thing same powerful same Miracle working power which is just as easy to say thy sins are forgiven or say rise up and walk but that ye may know that the son of man have power on Earth to forgive sins he saith unto the sick of the palsy I say unto thee arise take up thy bed go thy way into thy house and immediately he arose took up the bed and went forth before them all and so much that they were all amazed and watch this now and glorified God who did they glorify for the miracle the one that caused the miracle they glorified God saying we never saw it on this fashion they went when they saw the miracle they went to praising because only God can give only God can give a miracle the Old Testament God spoke through men not only about coming to be the payment the sacrifice for our sins but God spoke through men to tell the ultimate plan across of Calvary was not the end the cross of Calvary was not the end of it but the ultimate plan of God was to move by spirit back into the heart of man God wanted to move back into Adam just like he had been in the Garden of Eden so the spirit spoke to prophets remember I told you what prophecy is God speaks to men men write it down and speak to people Joel 2 and verse 28 listen to Joel prophesy and it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out of my spirit God is talking now I will pour out of my spirit upon All Flesh how much flesh All Flesh your sons and daughters shall prophesy your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions and also upon the servants and upon the handmaidens in those days I will pour out of my spirit God prophesied or God spoke to Joel and Joel prophesied God's ultimate plan folks God's ultimate plan he wants to move back into our hearts where he was before man sinned and when he comes back into our hearts he makes all things new there's nothing like receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost there is no comparison I've heard people talk about it's like being drunk and it's like being high I'm not proud of this tonight but I can tell you I've been both before I came to God I was both of them and having the Holy Ghost is nothing like either one of them it is nothing it is nothing like being paranoid and it's nothing like hugging a toilet when you get the baptism of the Holy Ghost when you get the baptism of the Holy Ghost it's the most wonderful thing you've ever received in your life when you stand and look at people and say the god of Heaven has poured out his spirit in me I didn't even know I was that valuable but he poured his Spirit out in me don't you feel that tonight God said I want to pour my spirit out upon All Flesh upon All Flesh and then God spoke to the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah chapter 28 verse 9 we put all these prophecies together Joel 2 28 God's going to pour it out upon all All Flesh Isaiah 28 9 God's going to tell you kind of how to what to look for he said Whom Shall he teach knowledge and Whom Shall he make to understand Doctrine them that are waned from milk and drawn from the breast God said I want you to look at it it's like a little baby an infant that is maturing you have believed Upon Jesus Christ you have trusted him for your salvation you have seen him as God so loved the world that he gave but you're still growing for precept must be on precept that's the word precept upon precept line up online line up online hear a little there a little that means as you grow in the Lord as you grow in the Lord I know more today about the Lord than I did over 40 years ago when he filled me with the Holy Ghost how is that what prayer line did you go in and he dumped a bunch of knowledge in your head I didn't go to any prayer line I went to midweek Bible study and Sunday morning Sunday school and Sunday night Evangelistic service I went and had here a little are you with me tonight now I went and got here a little and there a little so don't be discouraged tonight if you don't know all that you need to know I don't know all that I want to know but God is a God that says if you'll just keep growing in me I'll give it here a little and they're a little line up online and line up online and line up online verse number 11. look at this for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people to whom he said this is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest and this is the refreshing yet they would not hear that yet they would not hear refers to the nation of Israel but as a gentile bride tonight aren't you thankful that you heard that word the Holy Ghost is the greatest rest the Holy Ghost is the greatest refreshing the Holy Ghost is the greatest reason for living the Holy Ghost is the something that'll that'll always cause you to hope it's the refreshing that God will give you it's the rest it's the rest you see a lot of people are looking for answers in this world it's not going to come to your better job it's not going to give it to you your new relationship's not going to give it to you your new address your new gated community all of that foolishness that'll never give you the rest but get the baptism of the Holy Ghost you can still live where your living Drive what you're driving where what you're wearing that you'll simply have a glorious how many are thankful for that rest in Jesus tonight you're thankful for that rest tonight I'm so thankful for that rest well let me travel let me let me try to travel Isaiah or excuse me Ezekiel 11 19 God said I'm going to Ezekiel 11 19. he prophesied through him I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within you I will take the Stony heart out of their flesh and I will give you a heart of Flesh he's talking about he's talking about the baptism of the Holy Ghost he's going to take that that out he's going to take on the inside you see what you need to work on tonight's not the outside matter of fact if you if you get to inside tuned the outside just automatically take care of itself right you just automatic well I don't see that you don't see that because the Bible said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God see if there's things in here you'll never see if that hurts not right but oh if you can get the good baptism of the Holy Ghost and then don't just get it and use it like a little trinket on your arm I got it five years ago keep it active in your life keep it active keep it active in your life keep it active in your life whatever it took you to get get the Holy Ghost stay in that atmosphere stay in that atmosphere whatever whatever took you and and you'll see you'll keep that Holy Ghost that spirit of God you'll keep it active in your life and yes the the initial sign that you have been filled with the Holy Ghost according to according to the word of God is that you speak in another a language unknown to you you speak a language that is unknown to you that is the initial beginning sign that you have been filled with the Holy Ghost but don't stop there don't say that's the only time that I'm only going to speak stay in that atmosphere and keep that Holy Ghost stirred stirred up in your life because when you keep it stirred up in your life the next thing that's going to grow in your life is going to be the fruit of the spirit God gives you the sign of the spirit but if you'll keep the Holy Ghost active in your life he'll give you the Fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace gentleness long-suffering Temperance all of these personality traits that cause you and I to be people that other people want to be around not like a porcupine all right you see the world doesn't care that you spoke in tongues 20 years ago they are looking for somebody to love them somebody to reach out to them and so as we're as we're as we see that this God who's spirit this God who is Spirit it's omnipresent God whose spirit created the world moved upon the face of the water and he is the father of creation and his same God who is omnisphere omnipresent this same God moved on a virgin girl and from that overshadowing came forth the son the flesh God in human flesh Among Us but he didn't stop there he didn't stop because he promised you and I the baptism of the Holy Ghost you say well brother Carpenter if I've got the baptism of the Holy Ghost remember again remember again remember again you'll never exhaust the amount of God is omnipresent but I'll tell you what happens and I'll close but those that have my scripture tonight go all the way to Ephesians chapter 1 verse 9 verse 13.
