oh thank God thank God thank god well if you have your Bibles and you would stand with me this evening this half this morning let me get time correct here you would stand with me this morning and and morning evening night or noon you I may tell you why maybe just a little discombobulated my wife along with several of the women did not come home last night I think my wife came there I mean they're cleaning everything I mean we're wind we're windexing the inside of mailboxes I mean where the bugs stay I think we're putting things in there for the bugs to enjoy a movement conference I mean we're and so at 5 30 this morning she came home so happy Fourth of July everybody it's so good to see you it's so good so good to have you here today and um this a team of ladies were here and it's it's just it's just great second Kings I am correct there second Kings chapter four and verse number eight are you ready for the word thank God and it fell on a day that Elisha passed to shunum where was a great woman she constrained him to eat bread and so it was that as oft as he passed by he turned in thither to eat bread and she said unto her husband behold now I perceive that this is a holy man of God which passeth by us continually let us make a little chamber I pray thee on the wall and let us set for him there a bed a table a stool a Candlestick and it shall be when he cometh to us that he shall turn in thither and it fell on a day that he came thither and turned into the chamber and lay there for a few moments today for a few moments I want to minister on this subject opportunity opportunity versus temptation opportunity versus temptation my objective in this message today is to help us to identify which is an opportunity and which would be a temptation don't know about you but when I go to the doctor or and speaking of doctor's sister Sutton it is so good to see you back in the house oh how we have been missing how we have been missing have been missing you here I go to a doctor or a dentist I love for that doctor that dentist to tell me what they're about to do all right when they start that root canal business and all that I love them say hey I'm going to do this I'm going to do that and I I love it so I'm going to tell you what I'm my objective today is for you to leave and understand the difference in a temptation or an opportunity and then I want the Holy Ghost to work as I'm Ministry to touch your heart that at the end of this message at the end of this message that we're going to receive it the way the Lord would have us to receive it please as we're praying for the message today let's remember mother's the Ender in prayer Wednesday night after church they got home and she was going from the garage into the house and her foot got caught there and she fell and broke two places in her wrist and they're going to be putting some pins in this week and let's please lift up Mother's Ender in prayer today Father we love you we thank you that you are a prayer answering God Lord we pray over mothers the Ender today God we ask Lord that you would touch her body Lord that that those bones would mend back correctly Lord father I asked you this morning that you would have touched my lips of clay that I would speak your word Lord that Hearts will be touched today that God will be on the we'll be on the right pathway of opportunities we'll give you praise and honor and glory in Jesus name we pray amen one more time give God a hand of praise you may be seated we have recorded in the scriptures we have recorded in the scriptures this morning more than just the travel itinerary of the Prophet Elisha we have more when we read this that tells that Elisha would frequently go past and go through the city the country of shunum we have more here the Holy Ghost has recorded more here than just his travel itinerary concealed within this event that happened in the Old Testament concealed in the travelings of this man this prophet of God named elishon by the way I want to tell you that the name Elisha means god is salvation these travel itinerary that we have of Elisha presents to us today not just where he went but how that God gave a woman in shunum who is referred to as a great woman how that God gave this woman an opportunity God gave this woman an opportunity now obviously first lady has sermons such as this that I bounce off of her and and I'll kind of tell her this is what I'm thinking and how does this how does this sound but I made a statement today to her that may sound a little crude and a little rough but if you're lost you have no one to blame but yourself if you're saved after you give praise and honor and glory to Jesus Christ Our Savior then it's because you said yes to the opportunity no one has an excuse for being lost no one can blame any other person of their condition but their own selves and I I know that's not something that anybody's going to run around the aisles of the church or want to rush out to get this downloaded or all of that but it is simply it is it is the truth we all have the same opportunity we all have the god of Elisha we all have the god of Salvation that passes by our house that gives us an opportunity to be saved you will remember you will remember with me as I read those few passages of scripture that as Elisha passed by this great woman's house that the scripture said in verse 8 that she constrained him it was her that went out in the street and began as scripture says in verse 8 to constrain him I don't know about you but in any relationship there is someone that is pursuing and someone that's being pursued but it's not a good relationship if the one pursuing is always pursuing and the one being pursued is always the one being pursuited it's wonderful when that turns around and the one that was being pursued now becomes the pursuer if you if you're following what I'm saying today I think God takes great Delight did he pursue us you better believe that he did when we were lost in sin when we were when we were in the bondage of sin when we were our eyes could not see because we were blind into salvation thank God his goodness and mercy followed us all the days of our life his Mercy was after us but after we've embraced the god of Salvation I just believe that God takes great Delight in it turning around and we begin to pursue him we begin to go after him and so now we have this woman here God is salvation and Elisha's passing by her way but now we have this woman as she goes out and she begins to constrain him to eat bread I want you to come in my house and eat bread you're a traveler I want to invite you in I I want to I want to get to know you I I want to invite you into my home and the Bible says that as oft as he passed by evidently that woman did some more superb job at making him feel welcome evidently he she did some more good generosity uh making him feel like hey I'm actually wanted in that house that as oft as he passed by he would just turn in and go into that house you know and making the parallel today I want to make Jesus feel at home in my heart I want to make the Lord feel at home in my heart he's not a bother he's not a burden he's not something that I have to come and do and serve my time on Sunday morning I'm not here today to buy fire insurance I'm here today because I love him I love him I love him I love I want him to know today that as often as he passes by he can come into my heart now as we go on this woman recognizes this woman recognizes opportunity she recognizes this opportunity now to understand the difference in opportunity opportunities are given to you and I from God and they are to help us opportunities are given to us by God to help us for the most important thing in your life and that is your salvation your salvation is the most important thing in your life to all the college students today that are working hard to get your degree I applaud you this morning I applaud you your parents I pray for you I we we applaud you today but the most important thing in your life is not your degree but the most important thing in your life is your salvation it is our salvation and the opportunities that God wants to give you and I today yes God will bless us financially yes God will help us to Ace that exam if we study yes God will help us in all those ways but the greatest help God wants to give us today is in reference to our Salvation this opportunity to be saved this opportunity to help us now Temptation on the other hand opportunities come from God to help us to be saved Temptation comes from our enemy to wreck Our Lives now the reason that I'm having to teach this is that sometimes Temptations can appear to be opportunities sometimes Temptations can can can appear all this is a this is a great opportunity that we've got pastor this is a great opportunity I I'm going to be able to make more money and and uh it's it's an opportunity and as you begin to look at it closer you know there's a good church that is 70 miles away and and and we're gonna we're going to we're going to uh we're going to uh move midway between the church and and where we work and all of this and and really you need a reality check if you can't be faithful when the church is seven miles away what makes you think you would be faithful when the church is 70 miles away I'm going to go ahead and tell you that's not an opportunity that's a temptation to push you to push you away from God this woman sees this opportunity she sees an opportunity and therefore she says to her husband I want more than just a visit I want more than him being just a guest he needs a room here at our house we need to remodel we need to build on we need to buy furniture a bed a stool a lamp a desk we need to we need to add on and we all understand that remodeling is very expensive we understand that when she's going to build a room an addition on her house and she's going to buy all this furniture it's going to come at a price but you know opportunities do have a price tag opportunities have a price tag to it but can I tell you the blessings of God far far far far far away and outnumber the any kind of payment that we get don't we get a good deal in this come on Church don't we get a good deal in this living for God we get to give God our mistakes he gives us his Mercy we get to give God all our messed up life and God gives it he unfolds all that I believe he deserves a little bit more praise today he gets the good praise they remodeled they built a room they bought furniture the next time the next time he comes she surprises him and says you won't be sitting at the couch anymore you won't be just visiting for a few hours we want you to stay the night stay a few days and there was that room this woman took advantage of this opportunity now I told you about temptations that Temptations come from Satan and they come to wreck Our Lives now let me tell you something else about an opportunity God's opportunities always give us time to examine it to see if it's an opportunity now you remember reading with me Elisha passed by her way she got out in the street and constrained him to come into the house and eat bread after a while she makes the statement I perceive that this is a holy man of God I perceive we don't know how long it was three months six months we don't know how long but she had a perception she looked at it through and through she examined Elisha through and through and she came up and she said husband we have an opportunity here this is a holy man of God can I tell you if it's a god opportunity today it'll be a god opportunity tomorrow you see sometimes they sell things by putting you under pressure and they'll say oh you gotta buy this today we won't have this tomorrow and I'm thinking if you're willing to sell it today for this you'll be willing to sell it tomorrow for this but I just need some time to go and think I need some time you know when we begin to look at Opportunity versus temptation we need to look at and spend some time and she made the statement I perceive this is a holy man of God he's going to be good for our lives this man is going to be good to bring in to our family I wonder if he I wonder if she had him in the home long enough to hear his conversation oh you know you really know what someone's like when you get in conversation but not just a one-time conversation but a two or three uh times a week conversation you can kind of start finding out what what they're really like and she said I perceive that this is a holy man of God he will be good for our family if we can bring this holy man of God into our family he will be good for our lives he will be good for our marriage he will be good for the neighborhood can I tell you today that the things of God are good for your life the things the opportunities that God gives us through his word heard through his Spirit through his house through the different things that we offer to the community can I tell you it will do you nothing but good why even a sinner Man by the name of pilate examine Jesus Christ and had to make this statement I find help me now I find what no fault hey if a sinner man can say I find no fault in him how much more should you and I raise an Anthem of Praise this morning that we find no fault no fault you see God opportunities allow you to look at them God's opportunities allow you to see that if you bring this word into your heart if you bring this lifestyle into your heart it's going to do you nothing but good they sang this morning brother Wilson LED something got to hold of me something got a hold of me and I know some folks I love it they'll say something got to hope to me you know there's something got a hold of me something got a hold of you and can I tell you not me but because that something got a hold of me I'm a better man right now I'm a better person than I was before something got a hold of me and you you know why because that that woman said this is an opportunity let's bring him into our house let's let's bring him into our house let's make a room for him they had a table a stool let's make room for him this is an opportunity let me tell you about Temptation today Temptations always calls for quick decisions Temptations are always quick decisions I I have this I've got this opportunity brother carpet and I gotta make a decision today I gotta I gotta make a decision right now beware Church beware church let me show you how the great tempter works let me show you how the great tempter works Luke chapter 4 verse 5 Satan took Jesus and tempted him watch him in Luke chapter 4 verse 5 and the devil take taking him up into a high mountain showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a what it what does that say in a moment of time in a moment of time not even a minute in a moment of time he flashed all the kingdoms of the world before him and he said all this can be yours just fall down and worship me because Temptation always has to work quickly before you can examine it because if you examine it you're going to find out one thing the Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof in other words let me tell you how it would sound if I wrote it the house Belongs to the Lord and all the furniture that's in the house so he says if you can with temptation if you can just get to someone spiritual your pastor somebody that knows the word if you can just get to them and say hey he's telling me that if I just will fall down and worship I'll get all these things you know in a in a moment of time he showed it to me but yet he was the word made flesh and he says Satan these are not your kingdoms to give because I created the Earth and all the fullness see how that works when Satan tempts you he's got to do it quick he's going to do it quickly he's got to get you making decisions about your life quickly he's got to do that quickly you can't examine it let's look at lot and Abraham they had to make a decision in Genesis 13 and verse number 10 Genesis 13 and 10. and lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the plane of Jordan that it was well watered everywhere before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah even as the garden of the Lord likened to the likened to the land of Egypt as thou comeest unto Zoar in other words just quickly telling you the story Abraham and lot's cattle had had grown to such a number that there was fighting between Abraham's herdsmen and lots herdsmen and so finally Abraham had to say this bickering's got to stop this arguing's got to stop and he said Abraham said to lot he said you just choose whatever direction that you want to go in and I'll go to the opposite direction now the mistake was here's the mistake lot should have saw that it would be better to keep company with the spiritual than to multiply with his material things the right thing for a lot to do he received himself he was saved his family his children he would he would have saved he would he would have had grandchildren all of these things if he would just had looked and said law Abraham Abraham I'm willing to downsize material things but I got to stay beside you I gotta stay with you let me tell you something the most important place in all your life is the house of God the more most important book in all your life is the word of God and the greatest spirit that you'll ever mingle with is the spirit of the Living God can I tell you I don't know what you have to do but if if you you need to have and I know we live in a culture where people work on Sundays and I understand and I get it but your prayer ought to be God would you make a way so that I can go to the house of the Lord God would you make a way that I can go to the house of God why it's more than making more money it's worth more than having a bigger house or having finer clothes this house will make us all better people if we will take that opportunity lifted up his eyes and looked towards Sodom it looked good from a distance but it was on God's list of cities that would have judgment lot lifts up his eyes in temptation but in Genesis 13 verse 14 watch this and the Lord said unto Abram after that lot was separated from him lift up now thine eyes and look from the place where thou art northward Southward Eastward and Westward you see there's two looks that you're going to have you're either going to see life through opportunities are you going to see life through Temptations and lot was tempted to go to Sodom but after that Abraham was given the opportunity he was given the opportunity to follow after God now let me tell this woman something in the Bible and let me tell us all something today this woman remodeled her house to accommodate Elisha she she remodeled there was the cost and I've told you that the cost of remodeling it was the cost of furniture I just want the man of God the Holiness and please separate it's not the man it's the holy God the man brings in to the home but now I want to tell you you have never paid a price to house God that God hasn't more than abundantly rewarded you the Bible says in second Kings chapter four Elijah is laying in that comfortable bed he's enjoying quiet time being able to study he's got a lamp a stool a desk a bed he's laying there and in verse 12 he said to gehazi his servant call this shitamite and when he had called her she stood before him and he said unto him say unto her behold thou has been careful for us with all this care you went to Great expense what is to be done for you would it thou be spoken for to the king or or to the captain of the host and she answered I I dwell among my own people in other words he said would you would you like for me to speak to the king to put a few soldiers out here to protect your house and your livestock she said no I dwell among my own people verse 14. and he said what is then what then is to be done for her answered verily she hath no child and her husband is old sorry about that Brothers and he said call her and when he had called her she stood in the door and he said about this season nine months according to the time of life nine months Thou shalt Embrace a son and she said nay my Lord thou man of God do not lie unto the handmaiden in other words I have built a room on for you I have perceived you to be a holy man of God but now you're telling me that nine months from now my dream is going to come true I've not been able to carry a child I've not been able to hold an infant in my arms oh oh how I've looked enviously at other women that were having a baby in their arms but that was withheld from me I've dreamed about it my hopes were high at times but my husband and I were just never able to ever marry children brothers and sisters let me tell you today that if we will make a place for God in our lives you've got some dreams that you've given up on that God is able to say because you made room for me in your house because you made room for me you paid the price to get up and go to the house of God you paid the price to have a prayer life you paid the price to push back the plate and fast a few meals I'm going to give you what you have given up on I'm going to give you all he's the god that can make dreams come true I said he's the god that can make dreams come true she said oh man of God he said don't you lie to me now you've never lied to me don't you lie to me and the Bible said in verse 17. verse number 17 and the woman conceived and bear a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her according to the time of life oh what it must have been the joy the joy that that woman walking around pregnant and then that house that had never heard the crying of a baby that house but help me preach a little bit today and I try in my mind when I'm studying when I'm studying brotharpe a story I try to sit down in the story I I try to sit down in the story I I just wonder I just wonder if every time that woman walked by that door that went into that remodeling job every time she walked by and saw that door that led to Elisha's room that she didn't say oh I know it came at a price I I I I know we I know we had to take a little money out and say out of savings and we had to get some contractors out here and we had to go to the furniture store and and that was way back before you could get now and pay a year later and and I know we had to spend all we had to spend all this money but I guarantee you when that woman gave birth to that baby and that baby started walking around she'd probably point to that room and say son you're here because we put the right things in our lives son we want you to know that that we were unable to have children we couldn't have any children but we found a holy man of God and we put the holy things of God am I preaching to you today am I preaching that this is the answer Church your answer is not a a a a a better Financial class your answer is not a better way of management if you want the blessings of God you've got to bring the Holiness of God into your life yes it was tedious carrying the two before us yes it was tedious moving the furniture in yes it was tedious having to bake more bread for two more people coming to the house Elisha and gehazi yes he was all of that but when that little baby came to the house so when that little baby come into the world she said you're here today because we put the right things we put the right things in our lives I've got I'm going to mention a few people here today that have really worked hard really worked hard but oh how they're rewarding today we've got a teacher at ACA by the name of Penny Murphy many years ago the Murphy's moved here and immediately The Murphys wanted to put their three children Dakota Mesa and Bella in the Christian School unable financially unable to do that financially to put three children in but a job opportunity opened for Penny Murphy and for many many many many years she has been as faithful as a clock going off she is one of the most faithful employees that works at this church she goes beyond just what's ask of her and she goes far far beyond that oh those kids at Dakota and that Mesa and that Bella oh they they grew up they all three graduated from ACA and the reward is today that handsome young man over here playing the bass guitar that's Dakota Mesa and Bella somewhere on cameras around here running and working that's their children they're faithful to the house of God you see sister Penny Murphy don't try to Corner her about oh you work for you you you you could go do this and make much more money you see there's some things more money just won't give you there's some things more money just won't give you could she have went other places and made more money you're absolutely right but would these kids be here today that's a question mark that they're here today they're here today Dakota Mesa and Bella they're here today because a mama said the alarm clock's going off I gotta make a way I gotta go to a game I gotta make a way to send them oh somebody giving praise right now I'd met them before they lived in Georgia and I preached at the church that they attended but I walked in the office several years ago to a berry and a dawn Dempsey who had two small children at that time Zach and Abby and they're moving here and it wasn't the church it wasn't the preacher they came from a good church they came and had a good pastor but one thing their Church didn't have was a school and they were moving here to put their children in an Apostolic Christian School was it worth the job change you had pretty good you had a pretty good career there in Rome Georgia you had a pretty good setting there in Rome the economy was prosperous you had him pretty good well that's been years ago Zach's somewhere around here teaching Sunday school this morning along with a beautiful wife Brianna and and they're around here teaching they're teaching Sunday school today and I don't know one of those young ladies that walked up and got in the choir both graduates of ACA one of those young ladies up here in the choir today singing praises to God is their daughter Abby ask them is it worth it is it well what are you doing woman I'm adding a room on for the man of God oh you don't have to do that you can go to the mountains and meditate Upon Jesus you don't have to do all that can I tell you something when God begins to reward us we look at what he's get what we had to do and it's nothing in comparison to what God hey don't you talk to me about having to do this and having to do that I'm one of the most blessed men in all the world today opportunities a single parent as a single parent one of our single parents here at the church who has really worked hard physically she's a general contractor her name is Glenn Oz she's worked hard she put her kids in the Christian School she worked hard as a single parent she worked hard raising these two kids all by herself one of the hardest working let me tell you something I am sorry Brothers Glenn I always can just about work any man down in this place right here today I I'm going to tell you she is a woman never since the word woman but I'm going to tell you something she's had to come up rough and tough and she didn't make excuses she didn't feel sorry for herself she found herself an Apostolic Church she found herself a man of God she found herself a holy bible she found herself the Holy Ghost she found herself a place and she said that's where Donnie and Abby are going to go Donnie locks up the church here Donnie claims on the church here Abby's now become a daycare worker at the church hey folks it's time to buy into this thing it's time to buy into this thing you better examine it real good I I think a structured atmosphere is what my child needs I think an atmosphere oh would you just give him some praise right now oh Lord let me go on let me go on let me go on oh friend the Holy Ghost think about what God has given you today think about what God has given you today think about it today what God gave you the Holy Ghost there's nothing like the Holy Ghost there's nothing like the spirit of God in your life if you've ever received the Holy Ghost you're Amen in me right now there's nothing like the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost is the game changer of life if you've not received the gift of the Holy Ghost friend I I beg you today don't leave here without receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost it will totally change your life it's a gift that God has given me I built repentance onto my life I built baptism in Jesus name onto my life and God filled me with the baptism of the Holy Ghost that's one of the gifts God God has given me another gift God has given me God has given me a Godly mate God has given me a woman that loves the Lord and her price is far above rubies and I'm speaking on behalf of all the men here today man if you've got a wife that's here with you worshiping God you ought to start Clapping Your Hands right now and you to start praising God if you've got a wife that serves God how about it do you have some children here today do you have some children here today oh I'm listening I got children living for God come on Church these are our god-given gifts Jeremy and Sarah Stafford you better thank your God every day you've got two of the finest young children that well they're grown adults now they're they're grown but they're two of the finest respectful God-fearing God loving and you say well why are you telling all that because I'm telling you none of us would have had this if we wasn't willing to see the opportunity of building something onto our house yes it came at a price yes it came at being faithful to church yes it came to being faithful to prayer meeting yes it came it's saying no to things of the world but isn't it worth it right now isn't it worth it to have these things in our lives oh let me go on our jobs you ought to have a job that you feel like God's given you you ought to have a job you feel like God's giving you let me back up let me see if I can back this truck you ought to have a job that you feel like God is giving you y'all be thankful for it now I'm gonna stop stop right there he didn't got me he didn't got me irritated all right well we are haphazard about they're swimming Through Rivers to get here to get maybe well Lord see you see I said I was so sweet today I'm so sweet to see what we're just kind of haphazard they're swimming Through Rivers to get here and they're working and they're glad to be here they're thankful to be here it's an opportunity you ought to be thankful for your job that's more like it y'all be thankful for your job you ought to have a job you say hey hey God gave me this job I'm telling you God gave me this job you know why God gave you that job is because you made a room under your house for the things of God and God said give you that job I give you that job I give you that mate now listen you're going to get your ribs worked on right now you ought to be very thankful for the mate you have you ought to feel like God gave me that mate that that that that mate was given by God God gave me my children God gave me my job I'm here to tell you something I'm not trying to preach I'm not I'm not one of these health wealth and prosperity preachers but I am in a way I do believe that you'll Prosper if you honor God I do believe that you have a greater you have a greater percentage of being healthy if you'll obey God's plan to put unhealthy things out of your life I do believe that I do believe you'll Prosper I do believe you'll prosper wait a minute I think you ought to have material things that you look at and say I wouldn't have that house right there I wouldn't have that house right there if it wasn't for God God made a way for me to have that house right there they said I didn't make enough they said this and they said that and and they wasn't I've seen God do it all over this church we don't qualify that out it's price too high and all of a sudden they call you back up and say the sellers are dropping the price of the house so that I can get in it oh they just must have wanted to sell that house not so there was a God in heaven that said I want to bless you with something I want to bless you with something but you don't get the blessing until you're willing to step out in the street and say come on into my house you don't get the Dakota you don't get this back you don't get these things yeah look at things y'all look at material things your house your automobile you ought to look at business opportunities y'all look at business opportunities when they call you up and say you know what your bid was higher than anybody else but there was just something about you I want to give you the job and you know what it's all about you built a room you built around let me bring this to a close today because sometimes things can happen the Bible said and I like for the musicians and the singers to make their way the Bible says and I in second Kings chapter four verse 18. speaking of the same woman the same child Verse 18 when the and when the child was grown it fell on a day that he went unto his father to the Reapers he's a he's a small child that goes out to watch his father Harvest and he said unto his father my head my head he said to a lad carry him to his mother and when he had taken him and brought him to his mother he sat on her knees till noon and then died and she went up and lay him on the bed of the man of God and shut the door upon him and went out she goes to her husband she says allow me to have one of the mules I got to go to the man of God and her husband said why are you going to the man of God it's not a new moon it's not a holy day and she simply answered with these words it it shall be well it shall be well sister Carpenter of all the beds in that house she could have took that dead boy and laid upon why wouldn't a natural mother take that baby and lay it on her own bed you know what she said I'm going to take you back to your origin you came from God you came from God and I'm going to take you back to your or and I lay him on the man of God's bed and shut the door her husband said you have no reason to go to the man of God and she simply says it shall be well she gets to the man of God and before she gets to the man of God a man of God sees her a way off and the man of God sees her and she sees him that the man of God sends gehazi across the road across the valley said go see what the woman wants there must be something she's coming to me there must be something said ask her these questions is it well with your husband is it well with you and is it well with the child and when he has I got to her again I said hey what's he coming for is it well with your husband is it well with you is it well with the child she was looking at the man of God and she changes her wording at home she said it shall be well but when she gets the man of God in her eyesight she drops the shell and she said it is well it is well I know I've got a dead boy back home but I've got my eyes on the resurrection I've got my eyes on the Miracle Worker I got my eyes on the god that can make all things not most of the things the god that can make all things new I've got my eye on him Story Goes Like This Elisha came down went up the bed lay upon the child the child sneezed seven times child came back to life the woman comes in and picks up her child God can do it again God can do it again I don't know what you're facing today but God can do it again would you
