Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The breach of promise
- The reading opens with the command to search Canaan, a land God says he already gives to Israel — the gift is spoken before the spies ever see it.
- The second reading gives God's answer to the murmuring congregation: the generation that murmured will fall in the wilderness, their children will enter, and forty years of wandering answer forty days of searching.
- His text phrase is God's own: ye shall know my breach of promise — the sermon is built on what it costs a people to feel a promise withdrawn.
Scriptures: Numbers 13:1-2; Numbers 14:26-34
Not failed one word
- Against the wilderness story he sets Solomon's dedication praise: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise.
- Meditating on the promises, he says, is what lifts praise out of a person; murmuring and disbelief never made anyone want to praise God.
Scriptures: 1 Kings 8:56
The promise made flesh
- Jesus Christ is the fleshly embodiment of the promise of God: from David's seed, according to his promise, God raised unto Israel a savior, Jesus.
- He traces the seed promise through Abraham, Isaac, and David to the manger — the baby in the manger is the promise of God.
Scriptures: Acts 13:22-23
The promise of the Father
- Before ascending, the promise himself told the disciples to tarry in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father — the Holy Ghost he would send.
- At Jerusalem the exalted Jesus, having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, shed it forth; and the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off.
- The sealing of Ephesians is the same promise still open: those who hear, trust, and believe are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
Scriptures: Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; Acts 2:33; Acts 2:39; Ephesians 1:13
He promised he would come again
- His closing ground for believing Jesus is coming back is simple: he promised — in John's Gospel he said he would go, prepare a place, and come again and receive his own.
- The final act of the plan is the final promise: he will return for a blood-bought, Spirit-filled bride, and the sermon closes asking who wants to be part of that bride.

in the Book of Numbers Chapter 13 in verse number one the Lord spake unto Moses saying send thou men that they may search the land of Canaan which I give give unto the children of Israel Chapter 14 verse number 26 and the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying how long shall I bear with this evil congregation which murmur against me I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel which murmur against me say unto them as truly is I live sayeth the Lord as ye have spoken in my ears so will I do to you your carcasses shall fall in this Wilderness and all that were numbered of you according to your whole number from 20 years old and upward which have murmured against me doubtless ye shall not come into the land concerning which I swear to make you dwell therein save Caleb the son of jauna and Joshua the son of nun but your little ones which he said should be a prey them will I bring in and they shall know the land which ye have despised but as for you your carcasses they shall fall in this Wilderness and your children shall wander in the wilderness 40 years and bear your whoredoms until your carcass carcasses be wasted in the wilderness after the number of the days in which you search the land even 40 years each day for a year ye shall bear your iniquities even 40 years and this is what I want to preach on this morning and ye shall know my breach of Promise ye shall know know my breach of Promise God bless you today you may be seated for a few moments I want to minister on the topic our god of promise our god of promise it is my opinion that if God had a list of what he would like for us to know and believe about himself if God had a list my opinion now of what he would want you and I to know about himself about his nature about his character about what he is like if God had a list if he could say today this is what I want my people to know about me after that he is a god of of Love hi on that list would be I want my people to know when I promise them something I will provide that for them if I tell them something they can believe it and expect it because I am a god of promise you see that's what upset God so much about the children of Israel when it was time for them to go into their Canaan land a land flowing with milk and honey and Plenty when it was time for them to go in God said Moses have them go search the land and if you would pay just a little attention to verse 13 chapter 133 verse number two it settles it he says send thou men that they May search the land of Canaan which I give unto the children of Israel well see it's already over in that first statement God Of Promise said I give this land to them I make a promise to them I give this land to them but when they got over in the promised land those 12 Spies 10 of them begin to see not the promise but they begin to see the problems they begin to see the the Giants and they begin to see the population and they begin to see all of the obstacles and they got their mind off of the promise and when we get our mind off of the promise and we get our mind on the problem it is going to result in us becoming discouraged but if God gave you a promise that that promised land is is yours no matter of fact that's what they call it the promised land when God gives you a promise that it's yours it doesn't matter how tall the Giants are how many people are there in the land when God gives you a promise God can fulfill his promise I believe that if God could say anything to us today outside of this word he would say please I want my people to believe that I am a god of promise I want them to understand in their heart that I am a god of promise I want their heart to be so saturated with my promises that their eye cannot affect their heart what they see in their lives will not affect what they know in their hearts we see the blessings of having God's promises God said you're not worthy of my promises because you have murmured see God takes murmuring and and and and sometimes we have a uh we we kind of categorize sins into not so bad you know and I've heard folks mention you know well they told a a little white lie well there's no such thing as a little white lie it's all lies all right there no big lies or and and and sometimes we can we can think that our negative way of living our negative spirit in life we can just think that's you know just some little old thing that that you know we really ought to start looking at things different but you know it's really not a big deal well it was to the children of Israel cuz they got over there searching that land out and they got to murmuring they got to looking at Giants and they got to murmuring about how tall they were and they got to looking at the promised land they got to murmuring about how many people were there and murmuring about this and the Bible said God heard them murmur God heard them complaining God heard them talking about we can't do this and it upset God to the point that God said God said Moses Aaron I wanton you go tell the people that they're not worthy of the promised land they're not worthy of living in my promise so I want you to go tell them that they're not going to go in and that they're going to wander in the wilderness they search the land of Canaan for 40 days and you tell them that they're going to wander in the wilderness for 40 Years it'll be a year for every day they murmured Welly that's a STI penalty one day of murmuring equals one year of wondering makes me not want to murmur was one day of murmuring makes for one year of wondering now in the wilderness oh they survived they had water out of a rock oh they had some Provisions to get them through they had all that but they were just in survival mode our God is not a God that just wants you to barely get by he's not just a God that wants you to be happy once in a while when water comes out of the rock our God is a god of Promise he wants you living in the Land of Plenty he wants you living in the land of Canaan he wants you living in your own land he wants you building the temple building the house of God he won't you let he is a God he is a god of promise and so God said you're not going in your children 20 years and under they're going to go in but you're not going to go in because God said and you got to read this the right way God said in that verse 34 he said and ye shall know my breach of Promise he said you have been negative and murmuring and he said I'm going to let you feel the breach of my promise I'm going to let you feel that that that that my promise is no longer there with you folks what would we do without the promises of God how would we hope without the promises of God As a matter of fact the promises of God are so prominent in the church that one of the old standard hym book songs says standing on the Promises of Christ my king through Eternal ages let his Praises Ring glory in the highest I will shout and sing Standing on the Promises of God then it says standing standing Standing on the Promises of Christ my savior standing standing I'm Standing on the Promises of God Standing on the Promises that cannot fail when the howling storms of doubt and fear a sale by The Living Word of God I shall Prevail Standing on the Promises of God Standing on the Promises of Christ the lord bound to him eternally by love strong cord overcoming daily with the spirit sword Standing on the Promises of God Standing on the Promises Brother Art snitzer that cannot fail listening every moment to the spirit's call resting in my savior as My All In All I'm Standing on the Promises of God brothers and sisters today and those watching by way of television and the worldwide web I've got Giants you've got Giants I've got difficulties you've got difficulties should we choose to dwell on our Giants and our difficulties we'll murmur about our God but let's get our eye upon the promises of God that cannot fail and God says I will take you in through my promises you see the people in the Old Testament knew something that we need to know and the people in the Old Testament knew that the promises of God when thought upon and meditated on resulted in a spirit of praise and blessings to fall on their lips they knew that when they meditated on God God's promises although not fulfilled when they sang about his promises wrote about his promises spoke about his promises it wasn't long to somebody exploded with a praise be under Jehovah Oh Glory to God because promises have a way of causing the Rapture of praise to come out of my soul you see doubt has never made you want to praise God murmuring has never made you want to praise God disbelief has never made you want to stand up and wave your hand but if I can meditate upon his promises if I can get a hold of his promise come on now if I can just start talking about his promises thank you Lord come on I wish somebody they get a hold of a promise Well church church in First Kings 8:56 they got to talking about the promises and they said blessed be the Lord now they've already thought about him and they said blessed be the Lord that's a praise right there blessed be the Lord bless be the Lord let's say that together bless be the Lord bless be the Lord praise God hallelujah thank you Jesus that ha given rest unto His People Israel according to all according to all that he promised there hath not failed one word of all his good promise which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant the psalmist has got a praise break going on his soul is raptured with praise that cannot stop his lips flow The Glory Hallelujah and the thank you Jesus what causes him to say all of these Praises what causes him to rise up above the situations and the circumstances in life what causes him to rise up against depression and against divorce and against bankruptcy and against personal failures that we brought on oursel what causes a man or a woman to rise up against above the even things they've caused thems I'll tell you what it is it's the promises of God if I can start thinking about the promises of God I I got to begin to Rejoice I got to begin to Rejoice some of you me some of the members of this church are here today that have been going through trials and tribulations but I've got to tell you get your eye off your problem and get it on your promise and watch God Work It Out do you know do you know that Jesus Christ is the fleshly embodiment of the promise of God I said Jesus Christ is the fleshly embodiment of the promise of God look at acts 13:22 he says and when he had removed him talking about Saul King Saul he raised up unto unto them David to be their King to whom also he gave testimony and said I have found David the son of Je the son of Jesse a man after my own heart which shall fulfill my will verse 23 of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a savior Jesus Friend you that Old Testament is there for a reason because God made a promise to a man called Abram he his name would later be changed to Abraham and he said in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed and he's talking about Jesus Christ he said to Isaac in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed and then he comes to King David and he says through your lineage shall all the families of the earth be blessed what's he talking about he is talking about when God became flesh and used the lineage of Abraham Isaac and David he used that bloodline to come into this world and robe himself in flesh and when Jesus was born and when the when you drive by a Manger on your way home look at that manger and say that's the promise of God when you drive by a manger and see a little baby in the manger you just look and say that's the promise of God way back in Abraham's day he promised us that that's the promise of God As a matter of fact you can't even receive anything from God else you believe the promise the promise of God came flesh the promise of God said in Luke 2449 the promise of God said and behold I send the promise Luke 24:49 I send the promise of my father upon you but ter ye in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with the power of on high everyone can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost how do do you know that Pastor God promised it God would never promise something that would become an impossibility he said I want you to go to Jerusalem and you're going to receive the promise of my father acts 1 and4 being assembled together with them commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Father which saith he ye have heard of me Acts 2 and33 therefore being by the right hand of God exalted and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost he has shed forth this which you now see and hear acts 2:39 the Holy Ghost has been poured out as God has promised he promised that he would pour it out God Jesus Christ the fleshly embodiment of God the promise of God through the lineage of Abraham Isaac and David the promise of God himself turned and told them go back to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the father and they went back to Jerusalem and 50 days later they were baptized with the Holy Ghost and begin to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance but it's just not a one-time promise the Bible said in Acts 2:39 the Bible said for the promise is unto you and to your children and to all that arear off even as many as the Lord Our God shall call that's why I'm glad today to preach the baptism of the Holy Ghost because he's still a promise you can still receive it if you have not received the gift of the Holy Ghost and spoke with tongues it is a promise from the father can somebody say Amen Ephesians 1:13 says it this way in whom also ye trusted Ephesians 1:13 in whom also ye trusted after that you heard the word of truth I heard preaching I heard the gospel El and I trusted it the gospel of your salvation I trusted it in whom after all in whom also after that you believed I heard it I trusted it I believed it ye were sealed with the holy spirit of it's a promise it's a promise let me tell you something today friend I don't want to live and walk with God saying I'm going to teach you my breach of my promise I want to walk in God's fulfillment of his promise I don't want to barely get by getting a little water out of a rock and a little bread falling every day give me my Canaan land that flows with milk and honey give me my Land of Plenty give me my land that belongs to me that's what I want I don't want none of this survival bit hey some of you tired of survival business isn't some of you want to have life and life more abundantly I'm talking about a smile on your face I'm talking about a spring in your step I'm talking about joy down inside of your heart would would you please tell me preacher why you believe Jesus is coming back again simple he promised don't have to take you to the Book of Revelation I take you to the Gospel of John proving one verse that he's coming back he said for if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you and it's not if he comes again he is coming again so you need to understand it's a promise just like he said to Abraham there's a there's a seed coming through you that's going to bless all the Earth it'll come through Isaac and it'll come through David and a few thousand years later a virgin conceives and a baby is born in the seed of the savior of the world the promise lays in a Manger there the promise grows up to 33 years old and the promise goes and hangs on a cross and sheds its blood and makes the way into the holiest of holies and the promise turns around before the promise ascends back up into heaven and the promise says you need to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the father and friend they went back to Jerusalem and 50 days later they received the gift of the Holy Ghost but you see the baptism of the Holy Ghost is just act one of the full Plan of Redemption because the Final Act is the final promise when he splits the Eastern sky and comes out comes back after a blood bought Spirit-filled church who wants to be a part of that bride is there anybody here today in this church that says Pastor I I want to be a part of that bride I I want to go when he comes I I want to go when he come on stand with me today how many on television today you would say I want to be a part of that Blood Bought spirit filled bride
