if you have your Bibles this morning and turn with me to Mark chapter 16 and verse number 15 again I want to concur with brother Hammond about our guest this morning if you you are a guest here at First Apostolic church thank you thank you so very very much for making this your place of worship today of all the places you could have went and worshiped God you chose you chose to come to First Apostolic church today thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart I just about had to watch a moment ago about blew everybody a kiss Thank You From The Bottom thank you from the bottom of my heart today Mark 16:1 15 and Jesus said unto them go into all the world and preach the gospel to Every Creature he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned these signs everybody say these signs these sign these signs shall follow them that believe in my name shall they cast out Devils they shall speak with new tongues they shall speak with new tongues they shall take up serpents I going go ahead and stop right here and tell you we do not handle snakes here all right all right of course this is a gross misinterpretation of those that do handle snakes to prove that they have faith in God um it is simply that God has his Divine protection upon us let let me go on I just want to make clear we got a lot of guests here today I I don't want to freak anybody out here for a moment all right um they shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them they shall lay their hands on the sick and they shall recover so then after the Lord had spoken unto them he was received up into heaven set on the right hand of God and they went forth and preached everywhere the Lord working with them confirming the word with signs following amen would you pray with me for a moment father I thank you for your word Lord It's Your word that gives us our guidance Lord It's Your word God that gives us our foundation Lord It's Your word that gives us our identity Lord for the next few moments would you anoint your servant with your spirit that I would be able to articulate Lord your word today May the ears and the hearts God of people in this Auditorium and those that are watching online May their ears and their hearts be open and may there be Revelation truth revealed here today we'll give you the praise and the glory and the honor in Jesus name we pray amen amen thank you for standing for the word the reading of God's word we are pre privileged and blessed beyond beyond beyond comprehension to know about and to experience the baptism the infilling of the spirit of God the infilling of the spirit of the creator of the universe oh this lifechanging gift this life changing gift this powerful spirit of God that comes into to the believer when they believe that he would fill them with his Spirit we are privileged can you say Amen we are we are privileged this is Thanksgiving month if there's the first thing on your list you ought to be thankful for is the baptism of the Holy Ghost the baptism go ahead the baptism of the Holy Ghost for a number of reasons and here's one of them the baptism of the Holy Ghost gives us overcoming power overcoming power a little bit of what the song said the ladies sang about today strong that Holy Ghost baptism gives us overcoming or overcoming power overcoming power let me give you a verse of scripture to back it up first John not the Gospel of John but the Epistle of John 1 John chapter 4 verse number four ye are of God little children and have overcome them now he's talking about the spirits in the world and there are spirits in this world there is one Spirit the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost and then there are many spirits which are demonic and which are in direct opposite position to the Holy Spirit and so John says to the church he says you are of God little children and uh I read one time where John was about 95 years old when he wrote this and I guess a 95 year old man everybody would be a little child to them I mean you'd be in your 80s and they would be saying Little Children You are of God little children and have overcome them these spirit how have we overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world now that's one thing we ought to thank God for today we don't have to get we don't have to be fearful about being in a world that's dominated by demonic spirits because greater is the holy spirit or the Holy Ghost that's in US than is in the world now this overcoming power is to conquer this word overcoming when you break it down this word overcoming this word overcoming means to conquer it means to Prevail it means to get the victory it means to carry off the victory it means to come away Victorious so sometimes we just want to look at our life in the midst of the battle but I want to tell you today that if you have the baptism of the Holy Ghost you may be in the battle but you keep on fighting because you are going to walk away you are going to walk away Victorious you're going to Prevail you're going to overcome you're going You're Going To Conquer John chapter now this is the Gospel of John John chapter 16 verse number 33 Jesus said said these words these things I have spoken unto you that in me notice that notice the wording here in me in me you might have what peace what are you going to have in Jesus in me you might have peace in the world you shall have tribulation but be be of good cheer that's an emotion be of good cheer and I think about that laundry detergent that they had an advertisement for years ago all temperature cheer hot water lukewarm water or cold water it works in all that so what kind of water you're in today it don't matter you can have that all temperature Holy Ghost cheer in your life be of good cheer now why should I be of good cheer why should I be of good cheer I have overcome the world I have overcome the world what a privilege it is today to have the baptism of the Holy Ghost what a privilege it is today Jesus spoke if you go back a couple chapters in John John chapter 14 verse 15 Jesus spoke about the Holy Ghost and he says if you love me keep my Commandments and I will pray the father and he shall give you now notice these words another comforter that he may abide with you forever even the spirit the spirit the spirit of Truth whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not he says the world can't receive this because the world doesn't see him the spirit of Truth Now this word here is to comprehend he says even the spirit of Truth whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not neither knoweth him in other words the spirit of Truth is a hymn now watch this because it seeth him not neither knoweth him but you know him for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you notice this he said the world cannot receive the spirit of truth because it does not comprehend me I should have come riding in on a stallion I should have been born in Rome I should have been born to the elite of the religious groups but because I God chose to be born in a little unknown town called Bethlehem to an unknown girl unknown virgin Girl by the name of M Mary I chose the parents of poor Carpenters I I chose to live and be brought up in a city called Nazareth and it had the it had the reputation Nazareth had the reputation when they said he's Jesus of Nazareth guess what the next word came out of their mouth was can anything good he said because I didn't come in the container they wanted me to they have rejected me and because they cannot comprehend me they don't see the spirit of truth but I'm telling you that you know him for he Spirit of Truth dwelleth with you and shall be in you Jesus Christ the salvation of our of our souls Jesus Christ that paid the debt of sin with his body on Calvary did that to pave the way that you and I could be filled with the spirit of Truth notice the next word here Jesus speaks in verse 18 I will not leave you comfortless I will come to you I'm with you right now I'm with you right now and there's some people living in between oh the days that Jesus walked the earth oh to have been alive when Jesus walked the Earth or the other Spectrum oh when Jesus comes and raptures us oh when we're with him now can I tell you right now we have inside of us with the baptism of the Holy Ghost we have the same spirit that was inside Jesus Christ he says these words he says these words look at verse 16 for a moment excuse me chapter uh verse 16 for a moment and then Verse 18 we're going to go back and forth I will pray the father he shall give you another comforter now wait minut another comforter to give me another means I have one now you do it's me Jesus says I am your comforter but I'm going to give you another comforter now this word comforter today this word comforter today and and uh brother Ericson would you would you kind of be a little illustration with me today would you be a little illustrtion with me D would you come up and stand beside me this word comforter today this this word comforter today means one called alongside to Aid all right and to help so when he said I'm going to give you another comforter in other words you got one now Jesus never failed them there wasn't anything they ever needed that while Jesus was with them for three and A2 years that they ever failed did they need did did did they need bread to feed he gave them bread did they need a teacher did they need a teacher they had a teacher everything they ever needed he was called alongside them and he helped them he aided them with with what whatever they needed but Jesus said I'm going to give you another comforter all right I'm going to give you another help now I'm not only thankful today that we have the Holy Ghost this overcome power but I am thankful today through the scripture that we have one called alongside although he's inside us and he is there today to help us to Aid us and there is nothing that can stand in his way as long as we know that he's there to help us he's there to Aid us he's there to be with us so he said I'm going to give you I'm going to give you another comforter can I tell you those of you that have the baptism of the Holy Ghost You are not alone that's right the enemy the enemy wants to whisper in my ear your ear and my ear you're alone you're not alone you have one inside of you you have one there that's there to help you and you know as long as if he's here to help me if he's here to help me let's just say and we've been here before let's just say hey I I I've got a I've got a 12-hour driving trip I need to go on and and I want to be fresh when I get to the service tonight there in Tulsa Oklahoma wherever it be and so we take off early in the morning and I've got to preach that night and I've got him there because I need him to help me right yeah Comfort huh and it's amazing it's amazing if you drive through the night if you don't have anybody with you you're sleepy as can be but just as sure as you got somebody you couldn't buy sleep yeah you away so what if I say hey I've got to preach to tonight we got to leave about 4: in the morning to get there and uh well 2:00 2: in the morning legally we got to leave to get there well what if brother Donnie what if we get about we start off at 2 and about 6 o' brother Eric says Hey like to help you drive oh no don't worry about it I I got this he said all right I'm going go back to sleep about 10:00 in the morning i' like to have you drive about two no I got this i got this WOW come on and then we get all the there and I get ready to preach and I am slapped wore out yeah why is that I didn't take advantage of my help right here that's right I didn't take advantage of my Aid right here folks the baptism of the Holy Ghost is more than just just something that happened to the tip of your tongue at a camp meeting a long time ago the baptism of the Holy Ghost is there to Aid you and to help you but you got to realize what you got thank you you got you got to realize what you got oh I just think we ought to thank thank him this morning you you got to realize what you got he's one called alongside he said I will not leave you look at Verse 18 again I will not leave you comfortless I will come to you John chapter number 8 verse number 30 John chapter 8 verse number 30 I'm going to tell you let me preface this reading to this scripture here I think the biggest problem with a lot of people's lives that the Holy Ghost would really help them is people never live in reality reality they're always trying to to to live beyond some reality but listen to John chapter 8:31 then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him if you continue in my word then are ye my disciples indeed look at verse 32 we misquote it quite a bit you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free we misquote that often we say you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free well it doesn't say set you set is automatic all right making is a process don't give up on God inside you because all of us no one's EX included even the man that's preaching to you today we are all in the process of God making us what we need to be but it's got to be the spirit of Truth we have to know reality we have to know truth and there's no greater reality than the spirit of Truth Jesus Christ there's power in truth there's power in truth there is absolute power in truth absolute power in truth the book of Acts records not only the actions of the Apostles but do you realize the book of Acts records the reactions of the Apostles think about that Brother Art the book of Acts not only records the acts but it also records their reactions I'm going tell you the Holy Ghost will help you give a reaction that will help things and not harm things here's a reaction well I want to go the I want to go to the Old Testament first how we respond in trouble see the Holy Ghost wants to help you help all of us how to respond in trouble and I'd say today I'm going to ask you to raise your hand I'd say probably there'll be five people raise their hand how many's ever had trouble in your life would you raise your hand I think if I got this side doing this and this side doing that we'd take off from this place right here today hey right trouble trouble how to respond to trouble you Old Testament is interesting because it goes right beside the book of Acts Psalms chapter 833 and I I wanted to read this I wanted to read this because of where we're at right now where we're at right now in our world with the nation of Israel it's not a coincidence it's not a coincidence that things are happening the way they're happening Psalms 83 verse number one a song a song or Psalm of ASAP it's a song listen to the song Keep not thou silence oh God hold not thy peace be not still oh God now please remember you're not listening to a sermon right now this was what they would sing they would sing this verse two for L thine enemies make a tumult your enemies God make a tumult and they that hate thee have lifted up the head now wait a minute I I got you see this ain't a sermon this is not a sermon this is a song they're singing a song about trouble they're singing a song about trouble verse three see if this doesn't ring a note they have taken craftily crafty counsel against thy people and consulted together against thy hidden ones verse four here's what the enemy says they have said this is the enemy they have said come let us cut them off from being a sound familiar let's cut them off from being a nation that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance if that don't send chill bumps up your spine I don't know what will thousands of years ago the enemy was saying the enemy was saying they have said come and let us cut them all from being a nation that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance for they have consulted together with one consent they are a Confederate against them and then if I read the rest of 83 you would see all these nations that had come all against I mean just just names them left and right all these nations that have come up against Israel what you what do you what what have you taken us down this pathway for this is how the Saints in the Old Testament responded to trouble they begin to sing because they knew their God was greater and more powerful than any of the Nations that are around I I'm I'm I'm just saying today that we sing not because we're just personality uh genetically uh uh programmed to look on the bright side of thing we sing in the midst of trouble because we have the baptism of the Holy Ghost within us and we're able not to deny trouble but to step out in the midst of trouble and begin to sing a song I know the devil wants to erase my name out of the Lamb I know the devil wants to erase my name out of the Lamb's Book of Life I know the adversary would like no greater than to erase me my wife my children everybody out of this place that we would not be worshippers of Jehovah but I've got news for you enemy I've got something greater on the inside of me than what you're trying to do hear me this morning church the adversary wants to erase your name out of here he wants to erase your cause out of here but you got to sing about it and they just begin to sing about it and I go all the way down to verse number 12 of chapter 83 of Psalms and they simply said who said let us take to ourselves elv the houses of God in possession he said they're just saying we're just going to go in and take all of their houses but here it comes oh my God and let me tell you something friend I'm not saying oh my God in light of my trouble I'm saying oh my God this is the trouble I'm saying not oh my God look at what no no I'm not saying that I'm saying oh my God I don't know what you're going through but you ought to be able at the end of whatever you're going through and whoever is against you you ought to stand and say oh my God oh my God make them like a wheel as the stubble before the wind now watch this he said make them like a tumble weed and let the wind begin to blow but God's not through with them he's got you dried up enemy and he's got you tumbling around by the wind but verse 14 he's not only got the wind blowing as the fire burneth of wood as the flame set up the mountains on fire got a little wind take a little fire so persecute them with thy Tempest and make them afraid with thy storm he said God just send a storm and let the fear come because that storm now now watch this this is really important feel their face is with shame that they may seek thy name oh Lord David talks about his enemies that wants to come in and disinherit him take his houses take his wives take his children take everything he's got and he turns it around and he says God put some trouble on them put some wind on them put some fire on them but God put some shame on their faces that they may seek your face if that's not a good reaction to the enemy I don't know what would be a good Action Reaction god get a hold of my enemy's heart and put shame that they may seek thy name oh Lord verse 17 let them be confounded and troubled forever and in case they don't want to they don't want to serve God let them be confounded and troubled forever yay let them be put to shame and perish but we're not done yet let them be put to shame and let them perish but we're not done because God has one more thing that he wants us to know about today Verse 18 that men may know that thou whose name alone is Jehovah art the most high over all the Earth can I tell you whatever you're going through today you need to let the Holy Ghost Aid you and let the Holy Ghost help you and let the Holy Ghost walk with you because at the end of the day if your enemy will not submit and serve God God's going to take your enemy away the wicked do not have everlasting life the wicked will come to an end the wicked one and the wickedness that's in our world today may look like they're winning right now may look like they're prospering right now but one day the King of Kings will come and wickedness along with the wicked one will be put to rest will be put to an end but in the meantime I want to walk with the Holy Ghost on the inside of me not so everybody patch you on the back and says what a great person you are but so they can look at you and say there's got to be something about the God that they serve what is his name Jesus there's got to be something about the God that they serve we live our lives with the Holy Ghost to be a witness for him we want to be a witness to him now let me take you back to the book of Acts Acts chapter 16 verse number 21 Paul and Silas had been doing what God had called them to do they were preaching the gospel they were casting out Devils that were seeing lives changed but the enemy the adversary was enraged the adversary formed a group of lies on Paul and Silas had them arrested had them arrested they lied on them and told that they were teaching Customs that were against the Roman laws it was all lies but the magistrates were being being led by the multitude and so in verse 21 now we take up the story and the multitude rose up together against them and the magistrates rent off their clothes that's shameful and commanded to beat them that's painful I want you to know what they went through today shameful having their clothes ripped off and painful they were beaten to keep that shameful and painful Bible said in verse 23 and when they had laid many stripes upon them they cast them into the prison charging the Jailer to keep them safely who having received such a charge thrust them into the inner prison made their feet fast in the stalks and at midnight now let's before I go into this verse let's just see shameful they've been stripped of their clothing they've been beaten and they've had many stripes laid up on their back and they're cast in the deepest dark damp dungeon their hands are tied and their feet are tied what are you going to do notice I told you the book of Acts not only tells us the actions it tells us the reactions and at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang Praises unto God and the prisoners heard them you see God the spirit of God this is why we need we need the baptism of the Holy Ghost Church and we need to keep the baptism of the Holy Ghost current in our lives none of us would buy a new car sometimes when you buy a new car they will give you a complimentary first tank of gas spilled but you do realize that's the only free thing you're getting all right and when that runs out that car is going to stop and unless you keep refilling that car up and I know I'm insulting y'all's intelligence today but this as deep as I know to get you got to keep going by I don't care if it's $5 a gallon you keep on going by and filling it up if it's $2 a gallon you you go by with a smile on your face but you keep on filling it up why because you know if I don't refill it it's going to stop why should we think any different about the baptism of the Holy Ghost I got to keep filling it up I got to keep filling it up I I got things out in my Horizon that's coming I need to keep my Aid I need to keep my helper come on somebody this morning I I need to keep my helper I need to keep my Aid midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang Praises unto God in the prisoners heard heard them and suddenly there was a great earthquake everybody say that's the Holy Ghost suddenly there was a great earthquake that's the Holy Ghost I've often read this passage of scripture brother Ericson and I've often wondered you know God delivered Peter from prison with an angel uh why not send the angel to get Paul and Silas out of prison the angel did a good job that when Angel went down and got him out of prison why did you send an earthquake and I studyed that and many times when I study something and I Ponder something I'll bow my head and ask the author why is this and many times he'll answer me and when I read this many years ago and suddenly there was a great earthquake and I I bowed my head and said God why didn't you just send the angel he said the earthquake is symbolic he said the earthquake is symbolic and I studied the earthquake we have an earthquake when the power from within the Earth is greater than the power on the surface anytime it's greater Within then without you have an earthquake and that scripture rang to my mind greater is he that is within than he that is in the world that's why I'm preaching the Holy Ghost this morning because I face a lot of pressure and you do from the world but if we can keep our comforter if we can keep our Aid on the inside greater is he on the inside prison doors were shaken immediately all the doors this an unusual earthquake this is an unusual earthquake so that the foundations of the prison the earthquake started in the foundations worked its way up through the doors the doors were open everyone's bands were loosed now that's that's that's ever more an unusual earthquake nobody's lost it's an earthquake that can shake the foundation Shake shake the door doors unlocked and even shake the bed enough to come up and shake the stocks the bonds off verse 27 The Keeper of the prison Awakening out of his sleep and seeing the prison doors open Drew out his sword because in those days if you allowed a prisoner to escape you had to pay for it with your own life they took your life so he was going to go ahead and take his life for them he drew out his sword and would have killed himself supposing the prisoners have been fled but Paul cried with a loud voice saying do thyself no harm we're all here then he called for a light and sprang in and came and trembling fell down before Paul and Silas and brought them them out and said s what must I do to be saved now I know I know today I've taken the vast part of my Bible study on just how wonderful the gift of the Holy Ghost is but I'm going to tell you the gift of the Holy Ghost is all about being a witness to a lost and a Dying World Psalms 83 oh God we're going to sing this song because at the end of the day we want you to put your fear upon people and they would know your name Paul and Silas go ahead and go down to the jail what in the world in the midst of shame in the midst of pain in the midst of all this it came into their hearts to worship and praise God it came into their hearts to Bell her out and oh my God you see too many of us today when we run into trouble we think it's a strange thing well I gave my heart to the Lord I got baptized last Sunday I got the Holy Ghost a month ago a and my car broke down or I got laid off my job or I had all this yes yes yes yes that all is going to happen well I I gave some money in the offering and I you know you know that that that guy on television that guy on television said if I if I'd give a hundred I'd get a th000 and I gave a hundred and and and there's a leak in my roof and I'm going to have to get a new roof done yes yes yes and while I'm on the subject to TV preachers TV preachers a lot of times are like TV dinners they look good on the cover but they're frozen on the inside and when they're thought out they still ain't much good all right you got to believe God's word don't believe this hype that you know you're just going to give your life to God get the Holy Ghost and everything's just going to be peachy and Rosy in your life that's not true I'm going to tell you reality trouble is going to happen but here's the big difference now I've got a reaction to all the trouble in my life I'm not going to doubt God I'm not going to complain about God I'm just going to say silus it's just time us to sing I know that we had our shirts ripped off I know we were walk naked down the hallway I know that we would have stripes put on our back I know know all this but you know Silas God is so good oh my God he is so good and he's so wonderful and Lord I Praise You Lord I Thank you today Lord I magnify you today who knows today who knows today brother Holden who knows today said they sang songs who knows today what they didn't start singing let's just pray the Lord you know it praise the Lord now now now they're singing that prison all right they got their feet tied up and their hands tied up let's do that again let's just Lord praise the Lord I would lift my hands to heaven but they're nailed to the floor let's just pray praise the Lord come on now whatever you got going on in your life sister Yoko if you're watching today from your bed sister Linda Thompson if you're watching today you you you know I'd like to tell you that God's going to heal you of your cancer I'd like to tell you all of that but that's in the hands of the good Lord but I can tell you one thing with everything you've got in you worship and praise oh my God oh my God he's greater than cancer come on now that's why I got the holy God he's greater you you don't have any trouble that's greater oh you don't have any trouble that's greater than him today would you just praise him right now would you just praise him right now would you just praise him right now just praise him right now I don't have any trouble I'm going to praise God right now Lord you're going to help me navigate through this trouble for the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want you lead me beside the Still Waters you restoreth my soul yay though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil now I know I spent a lot of time matter of fact I spent the vast majority of my Bible class today on just how wonderful the Holy Ghost is when I have it down to teach on and bring Clarity from confusion because in the real of Christianity today there's a lot of confusion conf usion on the subject of speaking with tongues speaking with tongues and one of the reasons there's a lot of confusion is that there are three different tongues that's mentioned in the New Testament and you you you have to when scripture is talking or speaking you have to know which tongue it is referring to for example there is the initial tongue the initial sign remember we opened up our our Bible class today with these signs these signs shall follow them that believe in my name they would cast out devils and they would speak with new tongues there there is there is the initial sign the outward sign that the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost has taken up residence or a person has been has been filled the second sign is praying in an unknown tongue praying in an unknown tongue the third is the one of the nine gifts of the Spirit one of the nine gifts of the Spirit and one of the nine gifts of the Spirit is the gift of tongues and the interpretation of those tongues there were qualifications that were placed on the use of praying in tongues and the gift of tongues and interpretation as it was referenced to an assembly like this today an assembly like this today Paul had to come and bring order to it and from some of Paul's teachings some of Paul's teachings they have taken some of that and have said that speaking in tongues no longer was practiced after the first initial outpouring at Pentecost we know today and I'll use the last few moments of this Bible class and I like to ask for the musicians and singers to go ahead and make their way to the platform at this time let's look at the visible sign let's look at the visible sign now please today please please understand this is not a political statement this is not this is not a political statement today everybody say this is not a political statement this is not a please I I don't have enough friends as it is and I view you as my friend today that you've come here and I don't need to lose you today all right but you have to have some form of identification R run my run my my phone up here real quick we don't have billfolds anymore we have phones you're right let's say today we're going to lunch we're going to lunch today and I just get talking and I Bree through a four-way stop all right everybody say illegal illegal I Breeze through a four-way stop police officer sees me brother Patterson turns the lights on pulls me over can somebody tell me what the first thing he's going to ask me when he walks up to the car driver's license driver's license I'm Kenneth Carpenter well that's wonderful s sir I need proof of identification well I'm telling you who I am today I'm telling you who I am we're gonna have more trouble than just a fourway stop here I have to get in this billfold man I was skinnier then dear God I have to get that out Happ to it's the proof of my identification all right so when it comes to the baptism of the Holy Ghost the scripture tells us today and I'm so thankful that he gave us an outward sign he gave us the outward sign now the sign is not the Holy Ghost the sign is the identification see well that's a good example but where is it at in the scripture the first time it was poured out Acts chapter 2 Acts chapter 2 verse number four the very first time the Holy Ghost was poured out and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance that word utterance there means the ability the ability to do so no man's going to teach you the spirit of God is going to give you the ability or the utterance some eight years later not even Jewish they were full blood Gentiles some 8 years later 8 years after after Acts 2 and 4 comes acts 10:46 Peter preaches to Gentiles and this happens for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God then answered Peter a few years after that some of John the Baptist disciples in Acts chap 19: 6 Acts chapter 19: 6 when Paul had laid his hands upon these were John the Baptist disciples when John had L his hands upon them the Holy Ghost came on them and they spake with other tongues and prophesied and this is three of the examples
