Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The last question: why do apostolic people go to church so much?
- He reads the first commandment together with the congregation: thou shalt have no other gods before me
- The whole answer to the last question is priorities: God first, before everything else in life
- Before the lesson he leads prayer for the needs that have come in, including a pastor's young daughter facing a mass in her abdomen
Scriptures: Exodus 20:3
God first, before family and before self
- Jesus stretched forth his hand toward his disciples and said, behold my mother and my brethren
- Whosoever does the will of the Father is counted his brother, and sister, and mother
- He that loveth father or mother more than Christ is not worthy of him, and the same is said of son and daughter
- A man must take up his cross and follow, and he that loses his life for Christ's sake finds it
Scriptures: Matthew 12:46-50; Matthew 10:34-39
Excuses, and seeking first the kingdom
- At the great supper the invited guests excused themselves over a piece of ground, a yoke of oxen, and a new wife
- Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and the things life requires are added
- Upon the first day of the week the saints laid by in store as God had prospered them — God given his place at the head of the week
Scriptures: Luke 14:16-20; Matthew 6:33; 1 Corinthians 16:2
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together
- The assembling together is not a habit to let slip but a duty that grows as the day approaches
- He compares the two passages word by word and shows they speak of one and the same gathering together unto him
- A church that puts God first treats the gathering of the saints as the first appointment, not the leftover one
Scriptures: Hebrews 10:24-25; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2
Drifting, doubting, dull of hearing, despising
- Neglect begins as drifting: give the more earnest heed to the things heard, lest at any time we let them slip
- Doubt hardened hearts in the wilderness, and they could not enter in because of unbelief
- Dull of hearing leaves believers needing milk when for the time they ought to be teachers
- To sin wilfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, and to count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing, leaves no more sacrifice for sins
Scriptures: Hebrews 2:1-4; Hebrews 3:7-14; Hebrews 3:18-19; Hebrews 5:11-12; Hebrews 10:26-31
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit
- He closes by reading David's prayer of repentance from its first verse to its last
- Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me
- The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, and a broken and a contrite heart he will not despise
Scriptures: Psalm 51:1-19

teaching the ladies only i will remain in the auditorium with our men and i'll be saying a bunch of things to them and they'll they'll have their guard down just a little bit better that so they're the youth sanctuary upstairs and they're going to be having a special class because i really believe where the devil fights the church is not necessarily here in the pews it's in the home amen i know thankful for that you have your bibles and would stand with me tonight the last lesson on questions apostolics are asked questions apostolics are asked this last question why do apostolic people go to church so much why do you all go to church so much i'm going to answer that exodus chapter 20 and verse number 3 first commandment thou shalt have no other gods before me let's all read that verse together shall we thou shalt have no other gods before me tonight when we pray do you have a need right now would you make it known by the lifting of your hand i got a call today from i got a text from sister nash because this is some of her family but brother lee and sister tanya cook they pastor over in olive branch mississippi their youngest daughter chloe they discovered a mass in her abdomen and they're rushing her to the hospitals and let's just pray tonight that that mass will disappear let's just pray tonight that god's hand would you would you agree with me tonight for that pastor and his family chloe tonight father i come before you this evening lord i ask you god all that all the prayer requests that have been turned in lord all the prayer requests that i read today that have come in online god all the prayer requests that have come in by way of text messages god god you know all of these needs father i pray for this very special need of chloe i pray god that you would touch her lord and by your stripes we are healed and i ask you to do the impossible tonight i ask you to miraculously by your hand remove that mass from her body right now lord i call on the name of jesus in the throne room of heaven by your stripes we are healed and we are your sons and daughters lord touch tonight in jesus mighty name we pray amen amen give the lord a hand of praise before you seated tonight would you why do apostolic people go to church so much now you would think that would be a very easy answer with just a few words but it actually isn't for you to understand why we attend church on a regular basis you have to understand some principles and the principle brother namey is god first god first the first commandment that israel was given he said you are to have no other gods before me in other words he is saying you are to put me first you are to put me first why do apostolics go to church so much it's because of our priorities our priorities a priority is to organize things so that the most important thing is done or dealt with first so to ask why do apostolics go to church so often i would have to talk to you about our apostolic priorities of the things that we deem need to be first in our lives and at the top of our priority list god is first god is first look with me in matthew chapter 12 and verse number 46. matthew chapter 12 and verse number 46 while jesus yet talked to the people behold his mother and his brethren stood without desiring to speak with him then one said unto him behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without desiring to speak with thee but he answered and said unto him that told him who is my mother and who are my brethren and he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples and said behold my mother and my brethren for whosoever shall do the will of my father which is in heaven the same is my my brother and sister and mother now what god is teaching here what jesus is teaching students is not a disrespect for your mother your parents or your family what jesus is speaking here is about priorities he was speaking he was teaching he had his disciples gathered around and he was interrupted by someone sent by his mother and brothers half brothers and they said we want you to come outside and speak to us he used that opportunity to teach a priority now i'm not teaching we neglect our parents as a matter of fact you cannot be the son or daughter you need to be unless god is first that's right well i want to be a good son or a good daughter put god first you'll be the best son or the best daughter if you'll put god first so he uses it to teach priorities he said you you they're wanting me outside he said um who's my mother and who's my brother and then he he just said these people right here that are hearing my word the same as my mother my brother sister and mother again don't misunderstand this that he's teaching that we can neglect our parents he is not teaching that he is teaching that we are to have the priority of god first look at matthew chapter 10 just go back a couple chapters matthew chapter 10 verse 33 34 listen to the words of jesus jesus says think not that i have come to send peace on earth i came not to send peace but a sword for i am come to set a man at variance a division against his father and a and the daughter against her mother and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law and a man's foes that's enemies shall be they of his own household he that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me and he that love a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me he that taketh not his cross and followeth after me is not worthy of me here's the key he that findeth his life shall lose it he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it what is he saying here priorities priorities priorities he says get ready when the gospel comes to your life it will cause a division among some some people cannot handle the division that the gospel that the gospel brings but the gospel will bring a division in in in such a way is that you have to love the god of the gospel more than father mother brother or sister and he says the gospel will set at odds a family and i have witnessed that and you have to you have witnessed the gospel people getting a revelation of truth in god's word and all of a sudden a parent turns a cold shoulder upon you or a parent may say something such as if you continue to go to that church you're not my son or you're not my daughter now we may not experience that to the level here but there are some countries that to convert to christianity can mean the death of the one converting to christianity to convert to christianity if they don't kill you they sure enough disown you and jesus said you've got to love me more than mother father brother or sister but then he not only talked about a family member but he talked about your own self you've got to love god more than you love your own self he said if you don't come and take up your cross now he's not talking about family he's talking about what you go through personally he said if you're not willing to take up your cross he said you're not worthy of me and then the golden nugget of the whole verse if you seek to save your life look out for number one if you seek to look out for number one you'll lose but if you will lose number one and make your place number two he said you will win your life and your life more abundantly turn over to luke chapter 14 verse number 16 priorities would you say that word with me priorities you know what we all have in common here on this wednesday evening we all have the same priority we're all here we all made the decision to be here at this place tonight to worship to worship god luke 14 16 listen to the words of jesus then said jesus unto him a certain man made a great supper and bad many now let me go ahead it's a parable i'm gonna go ahead as i read each verse and tell you what's all about the supper the great supper is the gospel the great supper is the greatest opportunity you or i will have ever had in all of our life and that is to hear the gospel the great supper has been made and many are bad many are invited to this gospel to this supper he sent his servant verse 17. he sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidding come all things are now ready and they all with one consent begin to make excuse excuse the gospel is preached the greatest thing that you and i will ever have presented to us but we can either answer with yes or we can answer with an excuse we've got an excuse why we can't come to the supper we've got an excuse why we can't do this some people's excuse is i'm young i'm going to do it a little bit later some excuse is i'm too old now for god to do anything with me excuse they begin with one consent to make excuse not now you see how flimsy these excuses are the first said unto him i have bought a piece of ground and i must needs go and see it i pray thee have me excuse well i know one thing about you you are a very sorry businessman who would ever buy a piece of property without going to see it he said oh oh i bought some property and i need to go see this another said in verse 19. listen to this another said i have bought five yoke of oxen and i go to prove them i i go to test drive them i bought them and now i'm going to test drive them isn't that a sorry way to do business whoever buys a car and then says hey yeah i'd like to test drive this here's the check and i'm going to test drive it be a sorry way to buy a car wouldn't it a sorry way to buy these oxen i'm going to buy them and i bought them and i got to go see if they'll pull i got to go see if if they're right they had excuses excuses and verse 20 doesn't need any elaboration i think it's as clear as can be and another said i have married a wife and therefore i cannot come i cannot come what i've just read to you has to do with material things and has to do with relationship and how many people have used material things and relationship to keep them from serving god i've heard excuses made well i i don't go to church they turn me off they talk about money every time i go well don't go to a restaurant and eat don't go to a restaurant and eat because every time you go to a restaurant and eat they're going to bring you a ticket at the end of that meal and they're going to want they're going to want money all right so you hear all kind of flimsy excuses well well my my husband doesn't like the church or my wife doesn't like the church i promise you if you'll put god first your husband or wife will have a better opportunity of seeing the truth other than go ahead i hear a faint hand clap somewhere in his house first you ask me why we go to church all the time and i have to tell you it's my priorities because the first commandment in the new in the old testament is you shall have no other gods before me and that's simply a saying you are to put me first things didn't change in the new testament in mark excuse me in matthew chapter 6 verse number 33 things didn't change in matthew 6 33 jesus said this powerful statement he said but seek ye first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you you know what he was saying he wasn't saying i'm against you having material things he was simply saying put me first before the material things he's not saying that he's got something against you having a wife or a husband or some friends but what he is saying is you need to put me before you need to make me first but seek ye first the kingdom of god i submit to you tonight i'd like to help somebody i'd like to help several people out tonight some of you are waiting for god to send things into your life and i'm going to tell you god is waiting on you to put him first god is waiting upon you to stop putting a timetable on when it's going to come god is waiting on you to turn your frown into a into a smile god is waiting on you to stop wringing your hands watching the door and start raising your hands praising god and if you will put god first god will bring you what you are desiring of would you give him a hand of praise right now put god first i'm here tonight you're here tonight because of a priority of putting god first if you look there's all these examples in the word of god first corinthians chapter 16 verse number two says upon the first day of the week let every man lay up by him in store as god had prospered him that there be no gathering when i come they met for worship on the first day of the week monday is not the first day of the week sunday is the first day of the week that's why it's our priority to join with our good first century apostolic brethren and what do we do on the first day of the week we have a priority we come to the house of god why do you come to the house of god on sunday because god is first it's the first day of the week not only that not only that now let me say this and clarify this because some may ask can i only can i only bring the tithe on sunday morning can i only bring it on sunday no the truth is you can you can bring it you can bring it any day of the week but on sunday doesn't this kind of fit a pattern we come to worship on the first day of the week because jesus chose the first day of the week to resurrect so we meet on the first day of the week monday is not the first day of the week sunday is the first day of the week we bring our first oh what's it called we bring our first fruits on the first day of the week i submit to you that if we will start our week off right we can end our week right if we can start it in that why do you all come on sunday it's priority why do you all come again back on sunday night i just have to tell you it's a god first thing in my life and i don't think there's anyone in this building tonight that has truly put god first that you wouldn't change one thing about your life right now because you see the rich benefits of putting god first our priorities are to put god first turn over with me to hebrews chapter 10 and verse number 24. now i want you to understand about hebrews for a moment hebrews was written because there were people that were wanting to go back to their former lifestyle they were wanting to go back to their former lifestyle and that was picking up things in the law under the old testament they were they were born again but they wanted to go back i can answer tonight i am not in a room with people that are wanting to go back maybe i got a confirmation from this tonight i was in the prayer room just really praying getting with it for not servicing brother jeremy poole come by come by me a young man in this church young young family in this church he came by me and he said pastor i just feel led to tell you it's not time to take our foot off the accelerator right now it's time to keep it kind of like keep the metal to the pedal it's time to go on i'm glad tonight to be in a church we're not looking for ways to slack up back up and shut up we're looking for ways to go forward we're we're not look we're not looking for how less we can do we god has proven himself we've put him first and he's put us first but now hebrews here brother thompson paul's having to deal with some people that want to go back so he says in hebrews chapter 10 verse number 24 he says and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works and i'm going to tell you priorities is a reason that i put god first priorities is a reason that i come to church but we sure have benefited from one another by coming together because when one is weak one is strong when one's going through a valley one's on top of the mountain when one begins to enter into a trial cast there's somebody that's already been through the trial that's on the other end saying you can make it come on i went through this i had this sickness i went through all this and i made it let us consider one another to provoke and to love and to good works not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is but exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching the word assembling here the word assembling here i want you to remember that word assembling forsaking not what are we not to forsake we are not to forsake what the assembling together second thessalonians i'm going to come back to hebrews just hold your spot there ii thessalonians chapter 2 verse number 1 2 thessalonians 2 and verse 1. now we beseech you brethren that means beg beseech means to beg now we beg you brethren by the coming of our lord jesus christ and by our gathering together unto him that ye be not soon shaken in mind or be troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter as from us as that the day of christ is at hand second thessalonians 2 1 and 2 brother erickson is talking about the coming of the lord hebrews 10 and 25 is talking about coming to church i want you to follow this now hebrews 10 25 is talking about coming to church he uh ii thessalonians 2 1-2 is talking about the coming of the lord what's interesting is the same root greek word for assembling in hebrews 10 25 is the same greek word for our gathering in ii thessalonians 2 and 1 are gathering together the same word that is used to denote our gathering together coming to church is the same word that is used to talk about our gathering together when the lord comes because it says that when the trumpet sounds that the dead in christ shall rise first then we not i then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up let me tell you you better get out of this long ranger mentality of serving god you got to get out of this me and jesus got our own thing going no you and jesus don't have your own thing going if you're in the church you are a part of the gathering if you're if you are a oh that's so good i know i said it but that still is good i'm telling you if you are in the church you want to gather if you're healthy you want to get among the church you want to gather together among the church you want to gather together come just let me say it like this you can't love jesus and hate church people you can't say i love jesus but i don't like church folks you are confessing that you are not healthy that you are in mature what do little children do on the playground they're all playing real pretty all the kids are all playing real pretty but one gets their feelings hurt he don't get the ball he don't get chosen you know what what will he or she do they'll go way over here all by themselves and them little darlings they know what they're doing they're trying to get the teacher's attention i'm over here all by myself sometimes grown adults do the same way they don't get their way they don't understand the church is not a bunch of eyes it's we for by one spirit we are all baptized into one body you got the same name i got you got the same experience i got and we all have the same heavenly father so get your thumb out of your mouth and get back to the house of god and let's get back in here you will be better when you get among the church now not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together verse 25 hebrews 10 25 as the manner of some is they started doing that but exhorting one another so much the more as you see the day approaching now can i tell you what faithful church attendance does faithful church attendance keeps us from drifting drifting second chapter of hebrews verse one through four you don't need to be drifting hebrews 2 and 1 therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to those things which we have heard lest at any time we should let them what's that word there that means drift you don't need to allow things to drift away from you but when you come to the house of god now watch this now we should let them slip for if the word spoken by angels was steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation which at the first begin to be spoken by the lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him god also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders and with divers miracles and gifts of the holy ghost according to his own will what's he saying there the high privilege of being in the church don't let it drift away from you don't let it drift away from you one sure way to let it drift away from you is not gather together and hear it it'll it'll drift away because it's it you heard it last year you got to hear it again this year what we heard monday night we got to keep on hearing because that which ceases to be preached will soon cease to be practiced you got to hear it you got to hear it you got to hear it you got to hear it over and over again because if you don't it's going to drift away from you it's going to drift away from you it's going to it's going to just kind of drift out out of sight the problem of things drifting away from you when things begin to drift away from you drifting away from a regular diet of god's word drifting now produces doubt everybody say doubt it's one reason you don't need to drift because faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of god but if you don't attend church on a regular basis you'll start drifting away and the next thing that will introduce itself to you is doubt doubt will come in hebrews chapter three verse number seven talking about doubt because these people are drifting wherefore as sayeth as the holy ghost sayeth today if you will hear his voice harden not your hearts as into provocation in the day of temptation in the wilderness when your fathers tempted me and proved me and saw my works forty years wherefore i was grieved with that generation and said they do always err in their heart and they have not known my ways so i swear in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest take heed brethren lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief departing from the living god but exhort one another daily why it is called today lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin for we are made partakers of christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end are you hearing this tonight are you hearing this tonight verse number verse number uh 18 of the same i just go down for time's sake verse number 18 and to whom swear he that they should not enter into his rest but to them that believe not so we see they could not enter in because of unbelief can you understand this is the reason that we have to stay here is because if we don't come on a regular basis things start slipping away from us and after they start slipping away from us we start doubting and we can never enter into the life and the life more abundantly if we don't believe but the only way that you can believe is to have that diet that gives you a hold on the word of god on a regular basis so we go from we go from things we go from having a drifting spirit a drifting spirit to a doubting spirit but what does doubting produce after a while doubting produces you being dull the word here for dull is lifeless you go from drifting this is why if you just get this i hope you just received this tonight you can understand this is why we assemble together and why you should assemble you ought to have a heart that wants to be here every time the doors are open because you don't want it to drift away because you don't want to have to deal with doubt because after doubt comes dullness comes hebrews chapter 5 and verse number 1. excuse me hebrews chapter 5 verse number 11. paul says of whom we have many things to say and hard to be uttered seeing you are dull of hearing you know why they're dull of hearing because they're doubting and you know why they're doubting because they're drifting and so now they're dull of hearing and they sit and they hear the word of god and even paul was saying you know there's some things i'd like to talk to you about but you're dull of hearing you're you're just dull of hearing you know i have not here it's not here don't sit here and try don't sit here and try to wonder what i'm talking about but i have been in some churches that unless you're preaching angels 10 feet tall walking through the building unless you're telling some story about a man praying for a thousand dollars in in in in a dog came up to his front door and had five you know had 10 100 dollar bills in his mouth and dropped all that can god do that stuff you better believe god can do that stuff but if that's all you have a diet to want to hear god's word also talks about us loving one another god's word also talks about us forgiving one another god's word also talks about us praying god's word also talks about us loving our wives ain't enough amen's in this house for me oh y'all waiting for an angel story the bible also talks about husbands love their wives and wives love their husbands you know the bible talks about families being healthy and wholesome and mom getting the kids up and teaching the kids how to pray and read a bible scripture oh that's a i i want that dog with them 10 100 bills yeah that's why a lot of people are dull they have miracles on their mind but misery in their families so the bible there's congregate they can't they can't handle they can't handle any kind of we need to be faithful and and god god god's word talks about uh consistency they can't come out for a normal wednesday night bible study but if you'll get if you'll get uh uh if you'll get uh smokey joe and the blowing fives to come by and have a singing while they'll pack the place out i hope there ain't no smokey joe and blowing fires or if you get something and i'm not again i'm not against this operating in the gifts i'm not against god giving a man the ability and he operates in the gifts and he's got a way of praying for faith but i'm going to tell you when a church can be empty 49 weeks out of the year until that man comes to town and everybody can come join in pack the place out we got to have the police out here directing traffic i'm telling you you're dull of hearing god's got something for god wants us to be good workers on our job god wants us to show up in the morning and submit ourselves to a sinner foreman and if we don't like what he says for the name of jesus we obey it and we work because we represent the king of kings and the lord of lords now that's where strong me you're dull of hearing he said i have many things to say i'm going back to chapter 5 verse 11. i have many things to say but you dull a hearing for when the time you ought to be for when the time you ought to be teachers verse 12. you ought to be teachers you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of god and are become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat this word dull means sluggish lazy and and this is in this is in my bible concordance and all it but we're not supposed to say this word at church stupid take it up with strongs don't mamas don't talk to me about it not take it up with strong's dull and slothful lifeless you tell lifeless people you know what all lifeless spiritual people got in common they've drifted they've drifted they're doubting they're dull well say don't it in there no it don't end there go back up with me to hebrews chapter 10 hebrews chapter number 10 and i believe i want to i believe i want to take off at verse number 26. drifting doubting dull right if i left one out drifting doubting dull for if we sin willfully after that we have come after that we have received the knowledge of the truth there remain of no more sacrifices sacrifice for sin but certain fearful looking for of judgment fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries he that despised moses look at verse 28 he that despised moses no wait a minute you asked me why we come to church so much i'm going to tell you right now just write it down ought to be in the front page of your bible i come to church so often because i don't want to drift i come to church so often because i don't want to live with doubt i come to church so often because i don't want to become dull and i come to church so often because i don't want to despise you go from drifting can't you see it you go from drifting to doubting to dull till you're actually despising what does the word despise mean means to set aside disesteem neutralize violate cast off disa null it means to treat in a disrespectful manner to treat in a disrespectful manner verse 28 again he that despised moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses of how much sore punishment suppose ye shall he be thought worthy of who hath trodden underfoot the son of god and have counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified as an unholy thing and hath done and hath done despite unto the spirit of grace for we know him that hath said vengeance belongeth unto me i will recompense saith the lord and again the lord shall judge his people it is a fearful thing to fall into the hand hands of a living god he said you that i'm addressing paul said you that i'm addressing you that have been forsaking the assembling of yourselves together you have been sake if you have been forsaking the gathering together of the corporate body yet you wait for the gathering of the rapture you that have forsaken come into the house of god on a regular basis and obviously i'm not talking about you tonight you're here i'm just wanting you to leave here and know why you come on a regular basis these people paul said you've stopped coming to the house of god so therefore you have drifted away you're not on the same page with the church you've drifted away from things and because you've drifted away you doubt things that you once believed and now that you're doubting things you have lost your energy to be at work in the house of god you've lost your energy to praise him you've lost your energy to pray you are dull you are lifeless but you don't stop there you want you then you go into despising because what happens when you realize you don't conform with the church you will either conform with the church or you will attack the church when you look around at people that are still doing what you once used to do they're holding on what they're holding on to what you let go of and while they're holding on and believing and seeing the blessings of god you have let go and have drifted and become dull but you can't stop there you've got to somehow despise those that are good you've got to somehow bring them down you've got to somehow find fault with them you've got to somehow try to despise and he just gives a warning he said don't you know that if they despised moses's teaching that they died under the hand of two or three witnesses don't you know that to have this kind of attitude now let me share with you what this verse means when it says for if we sin willfully after coming to the knowledge of the truth or truth there remain up no more sacrifice what it's talking about is the attitude of presumption you have absolutely no desire to stop sinning it doesn't cross your mind to stop sinning it doesn't cross your mind to put up a battle you just sin and sin and sin and paul just said i want you to know you are on dangerous ground i want you to know your attitude of nitpicking the church your attitude of despising what god is trying to do that that attitude will eventually lead to vengeance is mine i will repay saith the lord but i want to get off of that just for a moment because again i don't believe that i'm addressing you tonight i don't believe those people are here tonight i don't i don't i don't believe that they're here i believe you're here because you love god but what i want you to realize it's not a tradition that we're here we are here out of a priority to be here we are here because we got this precious truth and we don't want it to slip away tell me that there's one god tell me that he's the only saving name tell me about the holy ghost tell me about this tell me about how to raise my family i don't want it to slip oh god i never want to have the attitude that i can just keep on and keep on sinning and keep on sinning and you know what that's a product of that's the product that you've not let the house of god change you because every time we come to the house of god we ought to go through the cycle of repentance brokenness and asking god to fill us back up whether you're 18 or you're 88 whether you've been in the church 18 months or 80 years you ought to come to the house of god god i need you tonight god i need you to help me with my thoughts i need you to help me god with my ways i need you to help me god with my prayer and i just believe if we won't try to make excuses for our lifestyle god will give us the holy ghost and we'll be able to have victory over the lifestyle that we're living but please david there's no sacrifice for those who commit a sin presumptuously there's no sacrifice for those that repeat the act of disobedience after the act after the act after the act you know why they do because they've drifted and because they've doubted and because they're dull and because they despise they will belittle anybody they'll be little anything they'll find fault in the preacher if it's the car he drives or the suit he wears they'll find some kind of a fault so that they can bring that voice down they found fault with moses they found fault with moses's wife that's right that's in the bible they found fault with that and it's all because you drifted you doubted you got dull and then you begin to despise i want to close with this tonight it's in it's david's prayer it's david's prayer in psalms chapter 51. it's the psalm that david prayed after being confronted about adultery after being confronted about murder it was a presumptuous sin david knew very well what he was doing and he knew there was no sacrifice i really want you to get this david knew there was no sacrifice that he could go down and say hey i've done this i knew it was wrong there was no sacrifice for that he said have mercy upon me o god according to thy loving kindness according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity and cleanse me from my sin for i acknowledge my transgression and my sin is ever before me against thee the only have i sinned and done this evil in thy sight that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest and be clear without judges behold i was shaping in iniquity and incended my mother conceived me behold thou desirous truth in the inward parts and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom purge me with hyssop and i shall be clean wash me and i shall be water than snow make me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice hide thy face from my sins and blot out my iniquities created me a clean heart o god and renew a right spirit within me cast me not away from thy presence take not thy holy spirit from me restore unto me the joy of thy salvation uphold me with thy free spirit then will i teach transgressors thy ways and sinners shall be converted unto thee deliver me from blood guilt and guiltiness o god thou god of my salvation and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness open o lord open thou my lips and my mouth shall show forth thy praise now listen to this i read all this to get to this one part for thou desirest not sacrifice else would i give it but thou delight us not in burnt offerings david said i'm an adulterer i am a murderer and there is no prescribed sacrifice for what i've done so what do you give god he says there's no sacrifices verse 16 but then verse 17 he says this the sacrifices of god are a broken spirit a broken and a contrite heart o god that will not despise do good in thy good pleasure unto zion build thou the walls of jerusalem then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings then shall thou offer bullets upon that altar can i tell you something for just 60 seconds right now it ought to be everyone's goal to always get broken in the house of god let me tell you hot salty tears are not only for the sinners coming to the altar hot salty tears ought to be for every saint of god that comes into this place hot salty tears ought to be the man that says there's not a sacrifice for what i've done but the man steps out and says but god there's a sacrifice that you won't turn away it's a broken and a contrite spirit oh god you will take my spirit can i tell you something if you want to stop repeating the act of sin get broken in the house of god if you want to stop the repeated the repeated the repeated the repeated the repeated the repeated then when you come to church don't sit lifeless and dull and drifting and doubting get broken oh god i've got to have you oh god i've got to help you god if you'll just touch me one more time god if you'll just give me a get broken church get broken church you're staying with me tonight can i tell you i would rather have a woman come to this church he's got a past that's immoral but she's got a presence of being broken in the house of god than to have a woman that has a record squeaky clean but she wouldn't know a hot tear flowing down her face if she had to she comes in and wants to make sure everything is just right and every curl is just right and every crease is just right he wants to know that he's mr macho and he can look around and all of this i would rather have me the ranch sinner i would rather have me somebody that's wallowed in the sewers of sin and finally realized sin doesn't pay and they'll come to the house of god and say i gotta praise him if i don't praise him i'll go back to what i was doing if i don't get broken in the house of god i'm liable to go lust and again if i don't if i don't stay in the prayer room i'll able to get that old nitpicking spirit nitpick the preacher apart nitpick everything about the church apart i gotta stay right with god i've got to stay hungry with god that's why we come to church the cure for your repeated because behavior always goes after attitude you've never had the wrong behavior and the right attitude you've never had it that way if you have the wrong behavior you've got the wrong attitude but if you've got right behavior you'll have the right attitude ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters of the jewry i hope i have convinced you tonight why apostolic people go to church would you just give him praise you give him praise and dismiss yourself tonight give him all the praise you want go home god bless you see you sunday morning
