Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Behold, this dreamer cometh

  • Reuben heard his brothers say, Behold, this dreamer cometh — come now therefore, and let us slay him — and delivered Joseph out of their hands, persuading them to cast him into a pit instead, intending to return alone and restore him to his father.
  • When Reuben returned to the pit, Joseph was not there; he rent his clothes and cried, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go? He had simply come back too late.

Scriptures: Genesis 37:19-22; Genesis 37:29-30

Running out of time with your soul

  • With your soul you are either in or out, saved or lost, ready for heaven or not; there is no almost in or almost out.
  • Hell will be full of people who meant to come next Sunday, next week, after the baby, after the divorce; they will take every message and every opportunity with them, and their worm will not die.
  • Today is the day of salvation; no one knows the time they have left — a heartbeat away from a heart attack, inches away from a head-on collision.

Harps upon the willows

  • By the rivers of Babylon Israel sat down and wept when they remembered Zion, and hanged their harps upon the willows while their captors required of them a song: How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?
  • It is worse to go blind after having once seen; but a broken bone mends stronger at the break, and it is not over for the backslider — the house of the Lord is open and the altar is open, so come home. The ball is in your court; it is your move — but you are running out of time.

Scriptures: Psalm 137:1-4

in Genesis chter 37 in verse number 19 and they said one to another behold this dreamer cometh come now therefore let us slay him cast him into some pit and we will say some evil Beast has devoured him we shall see what will become with his dreams of his dreams and Reuben heard it and he delivered him out of their hands and said let us not kill him and Reuben said unto them shed no blood but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness lay no hand upon him that he might rid him out of their hands and to deliver him to his father again verse 29 and Reuben returned unto the pit and behold Joseph was not in the pit and he rent his clothes and he returned unto his Brethren and said the child is not and I whether shall I go my topic for this morning is simply running out of time running out of time you may be seated Ruben is the firstborn Joseph is the young hated by all of his brothers dreamer his brothers allowed jealousy and bitterness to so enrage them to the point that they schemed to kill him Reuben is a man who is not a man enough to truly tell how he feels he knows in his heart he knows in his heart that they cannot kill their brother Joseph but he's not man enough to stand up and speak up so in his mind he comes up with a plan and convinces his brothers let's don't kill him with our own hands but let's throw him in this pit in the ground he will die of starvation a beast will go down in the pit and kill him we won't have to carry the guilt that we actually did it but in Reuben's mind he knew what he was planning on doing he knew that as soon as his brothers left the mouth of that pit he would Circle back around in a few hours and he would get his brother Joseph out of that pit and take his brother Joseph back to their father Jacob but the plan went horribly wrong when when Reuben walked away the Bible said ishmaelite trador came and ishmaelite Traders bought Joseph out of the pit but could you go with me for a moment in the mind of Ruben when he come back around and over the hill and down through the veil and he saw that nobody's standing around the pit and he thought to himself my plan is working just as I thought but when he steps to the mouth of the pit he finds that the pit is empty he finds that he's come to the pit just too late he's too late to save his dreamer brother he's too late to stand there and so he goes to his brothers and his brothers tell him of what happened with sold him but the Bible says that Reuben said the child is not and I whether shall I go can I tell you today there's something much much much worse than not being able to retrieve your brother and that is running out of time with your soul running out of valuable time that youve got to turn your life life over to Jesus Christ 100% I have come this morning to spend some time reaching and calling and stretching for somebody in this room right now or watching by television that it's in your heart to one day make a move for God it's in your heart one day to get your Joseph out of that pit but you've let peer pressure and you've let the things of this world so oppress you that you're not acting like the man that you want to act like one day the conditions will become favorable one day I'll be able when nobody's there to go back but my dear friend today don't be like Reuben because Reuben ran out of time don't be like Reuben today when it comes to your salvation you're either in or you're out you're either saved or you're lost you're not almost in or almost out you're either in or you're out you're either saved or you're lost you're either ready for heaven or you're going to go to hell you've got to make your calling and make your election sure today you see Reuben simply ran out of time there will be multitudes of people burning throughout eternity in a lake of fire that had every intention of walking to the front of a room and bowing on their knees not caring one bit about what anybody thought thought of them or thinks of them hell will be full of people that thought I'll get it one day when things get right I'm going to go you want to hear some prayers in Hell prayers in hell will be people walking around on fire saying I was was going to go next Sunday I was going to go next week I was going to dedicate my life next Easter I was going to give my life to God when the baby got here I was going to give my life to God after the divorce got final and so on and so don't run out of time you're running out of time today is the day of salvation you don't know how much time you got left you're a heartbeat away from a heart attack you're 6 Ines away from a head on collision today is the day of salvation some people will never live their dream because they allow their dream to be thrown in a pit because of too much peer pressure what will people think who cares what will people say who cares because friend on that day when we stand before God the scripture tells us us this Jesus describing the burning fires of Hell Jesus said where their worm dieth not where their worm not the worm their worm it's not talking about a worm will not die in hell it's talking about in that day that the mind the brain of a person resembles that of all kinds of worms put together and what the illusion is that Jesus makes is when they get to Hell they'll take their memory to hell I'm not trying to be a pessimist today I'm being a realist today you're going to take every message with you if you end up in heaven you'll take every Victory with you and if you end up in Hell you'll take every message every opportunity every time the Holy Ghost dealt with you every time God got on you you'll take every opportunity with you and your worm will not die come on today I know that I'm preaching on television but I want you to know this altar is open right now this altar is open right now if you want to come out of your seat and come find your way to Calvary it's open right now now go ahead well what will they think you're not going to worry about that on Judgment day you won't care what anybody thinks on Judgment Day excuse me I've got to get to the altar I've got to make my way to God why not this morning if not here where if not now when come on why not this morning you make your start for God hallelujah hallelujah come on Sir come on don't deny your heart beating don't deny conviction in your heart today come on get out of that seat and get to this Altar and let God begin to save you this morning I'm running out of time I'm running out of time Reuben was going to get Joseph out of that pit Reuben was going to take him back to his brother Daddy but he ran out of time I believe today that I'm preaching to some hurt people in this congregation in by television I believe I'm preaching to some hurt people that was once involved in the work of God you were once strong in God you were once strong in your walk with God you were once a pillar in the church you were once a leader in the church you once sang the Praises and preached the glory and taught the classes and mow the grass you were once a worker in God's kingdom the Bible says in Psalms 137 verse1 by the Rivers of Babylon there we sat down yay we wept when we remember Zion we hanged our Harps upon the Willows in the midst thereof for they that carried us away captive required of us a song and they that wasted us required us us Earth saying sing us one of the songs of Zion how shall we sing the Lord's song In a Strange Land you see it was sin that put Israel into Babylon confusion it was sin that took the holy people of God free to worship Jehovah free to sing their songs free in the city of Jerusalem free to love God it was sin that caused them to be taken captive into Babylon sin did that and it was God and his love that allowed Babylon to come and get them but sin is so cruel sin is so cruel to the child of God you see my friend if I had the choice if I had the choice I would rather be born blind and never see one color never see one rainbow never see one sunrise or one Sunset I would rather be born blind having never seen than to go blind after I had once seen it's horrible to be a sinner that's never seen and tasted and felt the power of God but oh the child of God that loses their way how dark that night is you can't drink enough at happy hour because you know that there's a spirit that's upon you you can't have enough Affairs you can't can't get it you can't have enough of the things of this world because you know too much I believe that I'm preaching to a backslider on the television today you're sitting there in that house you used to go to church you used to be used of God I've got news to tell you today the house of the Lord is open the mercy of God is Rich the love of God is real come on home come on home Fallen preacher come on home Fallen preacher come on home Fallen preacher's wife come on home Deacon come on home youth director but do you know the reason Babylon wants to afflict us it's bad enough it's bad enough being in Babylon but now the wicked spirits of Babylon come and say sing us one of your songs how it used to be but the Bible says we hung our hearts on the Willows I'm never going to play this again I'm never going to play this again I'm never going to feel I'm never going going to play this again I'm never going to ever be involved like I once was in a church that's a lie from the pit of Hell that's what the enemies that's what Babylon hopes you believe today I'll never get back to where I should I'll never be what I used to be you know they tell me that when a person breaks a bone that the place of the breaking of the bone after the body mends the place of the breaking of the bone is actually stronger than what it was before it was broken now I'm not telling you to sin that Grace May abound but I am telling some people that have found themselves with broken bones today that it's not over for you it's not out for you God has brought you here for such a time as this God has brought you in this room today to tell you today's your day but you're running out of time today's your day but you can't put it off any longer you got to make a move today the ball is in your court it is your move the decision is yours a church is worshiping a preacher is preaching an altar is open it's your move to come into God's Fellowship this morning how shall we hang our heart upon a willow I'm glad for my nephew John fer I'm glad for that man that preached the gospel carried the gospel but Babylon sin threw him an ugly curveball something he never planned in life something that he never figured on in life came his way right in the midst of the ministry and all of a sudden John finds himself in a frame of mind selling the suits that he has changing his wardrobe because after all I'm never going to preach again after all I'm an embarrassment after all people are talking about me after all all that let me tell you John stayed in Babylon until somebody got to him and said you better go get your harp you better go get your harp because God has one more touch for you God has one more touch in your life here he is today he's getting geared up to preach the gospel he's getting Babylon won't you're not always going to stay in Babylon you're coming out of Babylon you're not going to stay in that season all always you're coming out
