Small Acts Move Mighty Hands | Pastor Kenneth Carpenter

you have your Bibles with me would you turn with me tonight to the book of First Kings First Kings chapter number 17 and verse number one you'll want to leave your Bibles open to First Kings 17. and we'll read one verse and then we're going to go to the Lord in prayer but on in the message I'm going to be going back to First Kings 17. first and foremost it's so good to see everyone in the house of the Lord tonight thank you thank you thank you thank you in a day that we live in when people are trying to have less church I'm glad that we're having more people than we've ever had before and I'm so thankful I'm so I'm so thankful that this house is full tonight and I'm thankful I'm so thankful for the love that you have for God that you want to be in the house of the Lord not just uh not just on Sunday morning but you want to be in the house of the Lord on Sunday evening and I certainly appreciate that uh brother Nolan and sister Flannery really know how to plan their revivals there in Florida preaching a Revival for brother for brother Tony that boy gets more breaks than anybody I he's in Florida they're in Florida tonight preaching and already brother Tony called me and said several have received the gift of the Holy Ghost and they're excited amen they're excited don't forget in the morning in the morning at 6 30 the doors are open here at the church from 6 30 a.m to 8 30 a.m and we have prayer here in the auditorium it's a beautiful time people come and they come and they pray and they go some read and uh Global grounds is open it's a beautiful thing people come and pray and read and then they go over and have have breakfast and that's a that's a great thing all of the profits of global grounds go to support our missionaries and how many love our missionaries come on how many love our missionaries tonight yes the support goes to support them one one more announcement before I read my text several years ago we had a beautiful couple an older couple attend church here brother and sister McBroom and they were so faithful while they attended church here they loved God very supportive of the work of the Lord here uh sister McBroom that is brother Dale mcbroom's grandmother 90 years old went on to be with the Lord this past week and she ran a good race and she fought a good fight she went home to be with the Lord to have her reward we are having they're going to be having her celebration service at Jones's mortuary funeral home in Clinton Tennessee in Clinton Tennessee on Tuesday night they're going to be having systemic rooms homegoing celebration service they're going to receive friends from five o'clock till seven and then at seven o'clock will be the service if there's any of you that can make that short trip over to Clinton I'll tell you this right now that mcbrooms have definitely have their fingerprints all over First Apostolic church and we are indebted we are go ahead that's right give them a hand we are definitely indebted to them I could tell you tonight that I'm not going to be long but you wouldn't believe me and I don't know that I even believe myself so let's read the scripture First Kings chapter 17. verse number one and Elijah the tishbite who was of the inhabitants of Gilead said unto Ahab as the Lord God of Israel liveth before whom I stand there shall not be due nor Reign these years but according to my word my title is the summation of my message tonight when I say my title I say my title don't do it but you can just fold your Bible and go on up and go on home but don't do that all right but my title is simply this small Acts move Mighty hands small Acts move Mighty hands Lord Jesus tonight I thank you for your word God I thank you for that anointed choir I thank you for those anointed singers tonight Lord I thank you God for the people that prayed before church and create an atmosphere the people that pray and the people that praise and they create such a dynamic atmosphere God for you just to move and God do your Miracle signs and wonders that happen Among Us Lord God I just asked you tonight for the next few moments that you would anoint your servant that I could articulate what I feel I received from you in prayer and Lord I'll give you the praise and the honor and the glory in Jesus name we pray amen thank God Amen amen you may be seated the name Elijah simply means my God is Jehovah my God is Jehovah the time in Israel was a time when they needed to be woke up it was a time in Israel when they had went astray from God and the worst thing about their spiritual condition is that they were actually deceived to think that they were right with God there's no greater deception than to believe you're right when you're not right and they were deceived to believe that they were right in the sight of God had to wake an entire nation uh he had to do something that affected every man woman boy and girl and what would affect every family what would affect every person what would affect not only human beings but livestock would affect the fields would be for there to be no do and there to be no rain God chose one single man one single man everybody say one one single man speaks to the king and says according to my word one single man according to my word there will be no do and there'll be no rain these years according to my word and at that very moment the clock in heaven was set it would be three and a half years think about this three and a half years there would not be any moisture on the ground three and a half years not one not one raindrop failed from the sky I was reminded when I was thinking about this and writing some notes our last trip to Chile on the last day brother Salinas wanted to take us to a resort area it was up in the mountains there and he said the words as we were going up he said it seldom ever Reigns in this mountain range here so we seldom ever get any rain I am telling you they kept the windshield wipers on most of the day it rained and brother silliness kept telling me this is unusual well it normally is if you're going to take me there it normally will get unusual but think about this just think about it with me what God had to do for three and a half years God had to Simply create an environment around Israel where the rains and the moisture and whatever it takes to send the rain clouds in God just built a guard around the land of Israel there was no rain there was no do that was all simply because one single man allowed himself to be used by God can I tell you tonight don't ever don't ever underestimate yourself or your influence God has the ability to have small Acts in the hands of God can make a mighty difference just just simply one man just simply one man we understand that when God told Elijah to prophesy to Ahab that there would be no rain God immediately spoke to Elijah and told him to go down by the Brook cherith and he said there you can drink from the brook Sheriff and said I have commanded I have commanded the Ravens to feed you there 'll feed you bread and flesh every morning and bread and flesh every evening now when you just think about that one thing alone the raven bird he is a bird that thrives on things that are already dead he is a raven he is a raven bird he he thrives on what's already dead he's not a bird that's aggressive he doesn't go and fight and kill something he's only seeking for that which is already dead and when he finds it it's his prey but do you know that God was able to speak to that raven bird and that raven bird would actually go contrary to its nature when that Raven burned before God got a hold of it when that raven bird got something in its mouth it was his I don't know what was going through the mind of that raven bird can you imagine when God began to tell that raven bird don't eat that but carry it down to the brook sheriff and drop that piece of Flesh right beside that Prophet drop that piece of bread right beside that prophet and God was able to sustain The Prophet by speaking to a raven bird by speaking to a raven bird I read one commentary that said you know Ahab was the big enemy of the day that more than likely the raven bird got the bread and the flesh out of ahab's kitchen he flew into ahab's kitchen and got the bread and the Flesh and there he began to drop it down because I want to tell you something tonight there's one thing God wants to keep alive and God wants to keep his word alive if God has a desire to keep something alive God wants to keep his word alive because if God can keep his word alive he can take one single man and turn off the water supply of a whole nation but he can also take one single man to pray one single prayer and the water will come back on over Israel and if God can use one single man to do such a great thing I wonder what he can do with one single man at fac tonight I wonder what he can do with one single woman at fac tonight I wonder what he can do with one young person in a home tonight I wonder what he can do with just just one thing small small Acts in the hands of God small acts move Mighty hands well it didn't take few months there had been no water the Bible simply tells us the brook cherith dried up and although the prophet could have had bread and flesh he had no water and now in verse king 17 and verse number 8 the brook is dried up and the Bible says and the word of the Lord came unto him saying arise and get thee to Sarah path which belongeth to ziden and dwell there behold I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee now let's just stop right there for a moment I understand the brook has dried up I understand that I need water and God says it's time for you to move I've got to move you to another location and when God speaks of another location he speaks of Zarephath Zarephath wasn't even a city in Israel it was it was a gentile City maybe that upset him just a little bit that he was being moved out of his own country but I think what God Said after that was a thing that raised his eyebrow he said I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee now you've got to understand Widow women in the Bible where poverty stricken Widow women in the Bible were looking for somebody else to take care of them and so I can see Elijah's eyebrows Arch as God says I have commanded a widow woman to take care of you you got to understand the God that I preached to you tonight whose name is Jesus is a god that is just looking for small Acts to move his mighty hands it's all he's asking for is small acts to move his mighty to move his mighty hands it doesn't look very promising but nonetheless Elijah makes his way to zeropath and verse number 10 so he arose and went to Zarephath and when he was come to the gate of the city behold the widow woman was there Gathering of sticks and he called to her and said fetch me I pray thee now I want you to look at the terminology here I think you'll see what I'm seeing I want a little water in a vessel that I may drink water was of high value at that time was it not why they are in a drought so he doesn't ask he asks he puts a an amount to it I just simply want just a little water in a vessel that I may drink and as she was going to fetch it he called to her and said bring me I pray be watch the please paint real close attention bring me I pray thee ate more soul of bread just a morsel of bread in thine hand and she said as the Lord thy God liveth I have not a cake but a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruise and behold I am Gathering two sticks that I may go in and dress it from me and my son that we may eat this and die now you understand there are two voices that's going through this widow woman's mind two voices the first voice she has heard is God telling her there's one more mouth to feed and get ready he's coming there's one more mouth to feed Elijah is coming to Lodge at your house the second voice now I imagine when she heard the first voice really God another mouth because all I have is a handful of meal and a little Cruise just a little few drops of oil in a cruise and a vessel and I'm contemplating making one last meal that my son and I may eat it and that we may die now that's as Bleak as you could ever get we're making a last meal that's what's going through this woman's mind I'm going to make the last meal for my son and I and we're going to die I don't know about you but that sounds Bleak to me let me let me let me show you a few words I kind of looked up in the dictionary and tried to describe this dejected depressed despondent down one word is hang dog I don't know what that is sad unhappy woeful dim discomforting discouraging disheartening dismaying dispirited distrustful upsetting desperate hopeless pessimistic lamidable I don't know about you but all of those describe what's going on in This Woman's life I'm going to fix one meal it's the last meal and it consists of a handful and a little oil and I'm gathering two sticks not a bundle of sticks not gonna take a big fire to make this cake just two sticks is all it's going to take that I'm going to make you know I've never really understood these men and women that are on death row and they're gonna they're going to they're going to they're they're going to put them to death in the morning and they said it's a mercy thing they allow them to order breakfast the night before I don't know about you but let me order breakfast the first day you put me in jail because who feels like eating when you're sitting there cutting into a steak knowing Brother Dean it's the last bite I'm going to have it's the last time I want to have this and that's the that's the spirit that was in this woman that's what she in her mind when God begins to has God ever spoke to you in the midst of a time in your life when you just had it all planned out how it was all going to end and all of a sudden God just starts speaking into your life the prophet's coming the man of God is coming and and you you're going to take you're going to take care of him and the man of God did come and the man of God introduced the second voice into her life Elijah introduced the second voice and the second voice was make me a little cake first make me a little cake first and afterwards you can go and make for your son and yourself and you can live you see your faith expectancy is on the wrong View widow woman you're looking at the end you see what's on the outside no rain drought you see what's on the inside a little oil and a handful of meal but if I can get you to look upon God if there's ever anything we need in our time when it looks like the end is here we don't need a view of how it's going to end we need a God view of how God's going to take us through we don't need you don't need tonight whatever you're going through tonight you don't need to plan out your funeral you don't need to plan how it's going to end you need to get your eyes focused on God and say God how are you going to make a way when there seems to be no way don't turn back from the Red Sea God's Gonna split the Red Sea God is going come on could you give him some praise right now in the house of the Lord if there's something you need to keep alive woman if there's something you need to keep alive you need to keep alive the word of God in your life in verse 13 after the woman told Elijah how it was going to end Elijah said unto her in verse 13. fear not boy isn't fear paralyzing isn't fear in 3D doesn't fear play with our minds fear plays with our minds in 3D Living Color surround sound 3D I mean fear just just absolutely paints a picture in our mind of how things are going to end but when the word of God finds us the word of God says fear not you need to turn the channel off fear and you need to turn your channel on faith you're not going down it's a temporary detour you're going to go up you're going to be stronger than you've ever been God's going to pour out his Spirit like he's never poured it out come on I'm preaching to some victory people tonight God's going to turn some things around fear not fear not go and do as thou has said but make me a little cake first and bring it unto me and afterwards make for thee and for thy son for thus saith the Lord God of Israel the barrel of mural shall not waste neither shall the crews of oil fail until until that day the day that the Lord sendeth Reign upon Israel and she went and did according to the saying of Elijah and she and he and her house did eat many days and the barrel of meal wasted not neither did the crews of oil fail according to the word of the Lord which he spake by Elijah I don't know about you but I believe when that widow woman went scoop that last handful of meal took and shook that cruise of oil and got those last few drops of oil set it down there's an empty Mill barrel and an empty Cruise of oil she baked a cake for the man of God and after the man of God ate he said go back to the kitchen he said you you don't understand there's no meal you've got to go back to the kitchen because the altar the church is a place that might have been empty but go back one more time can you see that little widow woman can you see your tonight with me as she makes her way back to that kitchen may be mumbling under her breath like we do sometimes when the man of God tells us get your hands up open your mouth come down around the altar don't miss church keep on living for God and we kind of Mumble it out I'm going to church tonight things are not going to turn around but all of a sudden she lifted up the lid on that milk that millbearer and lo and behold that was a meal in the barrel and there was oil in the cruise hey hey hey hey hey why don't you hollered up here at me what you calling people that deliver groceries here to our house instacart can I tell you God's got insta angels God's got insta angels and when that little widow woman scooped up that last meal and took that last few drops of oil and baked that cake to keep the word of God alive because if you don't keep the word of God alive there'll be no rain but she was keeping the word of God alive she goes back to that kitchen she opens up that millbarrow and there's some instant angels that have done come and made a delivery of more meal and more God will do it again I said God will do it again I wish somebody would shout God will do it again that just if I just put in verse God will do it God will do it again come on praise him with me tonight God will do it again God is not through with you and God is not through with me and God will do it again well let me go on tonight so I may happily keep my message about my announcement of not preaching law the story doesn't end there death is coming to the Widow's house but not death caused by a lack of food it is death that has been recorded when her son was born the time of his death was recorded in God's book it's amazing it's amazing how that things small acts we do today do not only affect our tomorrow day after today but it has a way of affecting our future woman you don't know it but your son's gonna die you don't know it woman but the time of his death is already be predetermined of God and if you don't keep the word of God alive in your house when it comes time for a resurrection there'll be no man of God in your house that can pray that simple prayer of faith do you know why it's important to have faith even when life hands you great disappointments because God is able to take our disappointments and turn them around for Glory behold all things all things all things I'm talking about the word of God tonight I'm not talking about My Philosophy I'm talking about the word of God I'm not talking about Carpenter philosophy tonight I'm talking about the word of God we know that all things work together for good to them who are called who love God and who are called according to his purpose he didn't say all good things he didn't say all great things he said all things can turn around and work out for the good to them that are have you been disappointed don't lose your faith in God have you been disappointed don't give up on God keep keep the things alive in your heart Brother John and sister Pam Ryan are here tonight I I Pastor them at both campuses I see them in Sevierville and I see them here but they're both here and last Tuesday night brother Ryan told me a story that he was notified many years ago how many would like to have this for a Christmas present on Christmas Day your job's been terminated you're no longer employed here on Christmas day on Christmas Day For Heaven's Sake of all time to find out you're unemployed on Christmas Day but as he kept telling me the story he told me how a year or so later he got a job at another place and he said brother Carpenter if I hadn't lost my job at that place I would have never met Pam Ryan I'd never met her and we would not be married so I looked back on a Christmas day that was most disappointing and I could look back now and say thank you God you orchestrated things and look now I've gotta I've got a wife yo y'all are celebrating an anniversary this month right how many years 15 years give the riots a hand right now and you know why they're here tonight a disappointment on Christmas day that I've lost my job can I tell you hang on to God even in the midst of your disappointment you can look back on it and you can say look at how God weave we've got another little young lady from the Sevierville Church boy can she ever sing sister McKenna man can she can that young girl ever sing oh me the other night just right out of the blue the carpenter she said I keep hearing you talk about covet and how covet we couldn't have church and we couldn't do all these things and how you you don't like covet and I still don't like covet and and she said but do you realize that had covet not hit and my church shut down I'd have never got online and started searching for churches but because covet hit in my church got set shut down she said I got online and I found First Apostolic of Maryville and I got baptized in Jesus name and I got filled with the Holy Ghost come on Church y'all y'all picking up what I'm putting down tonight I'm telling you God is able to take disappointments and turn it around is it right is it right anybody live this way is it right well one brother John talked to me last Tuesday night and sister McKenna talked to me I haven't had this thought so help me my righteous God I haven't thought about this in years I couldn't tell you the last time I thought about it but I can remember sister arnoni I can remember being horribly scarred as a second grader as a second we got anybody here tonight in the second grade anybody would you would you raise me oh I see one right here would you I promise I won't make you say anything I want and your girls I need a boy that's we got a boy that's in the second grade we got who would he be brave enough to come up here right would you come up here no boy his mama just oh God she went to praying right now Nolan you in the second grade give me five right here all right look at Kenny Carpenter in the second grade all right I'm in a second grade sturkey elementary school sturkey elementary school uh we miss being able to go to Norwood Elementary School by a couple of blocks so I went to sturkey Elementary and I remember the kids in the neighborhood that went to Norwood they would call us the sturkey turkeys you're a sturkey turkey is what they say and I remember you'd be good I remember being in the second grade I went through I I went to sixth grades there I remember my mama going to a teacher's meeting at the end of the school year I mean remember when you got the report cards that told you it was going to another grade before report cards came out Mama took me to the sturkey Elementary School and I remember a conversation that her and Mrs McClary see you get scarred you remember names her and Mrs McClary had a conversation she said Miss Carpenter Kenneth is struggling in Reading and he's struggling in in several subjects but I will not hold him back to the second grade unless you want me if you want to work with him during the summer and I'm saying you want to work with me in the summer thank you let's give him a hand right now you want to work with him if you want to work with him in the summer he could come back and go in the third grade all my friends were in the third grade David Kitts my best buddy was in the third grade all the people that I was in the second grade with was going to the third grade all we'd play kickball together I was good at kickball and all of them were going to the third grade third grade got more privileges than the second grade third grade at sturkey elementary school was in a whole different plan we had two Wings there I don't know how many they have now but they had two third graders winning the other one I kept waiting to be able to go right I was looking forward not to have to turn left and and go right up the hallway and I heard my mother say Miss McClary hold him back I remember I'm not trying to I'm not I'm telling you exactly how I feel I remember going to school and going to lunch and I was in the second grade but a third grader and I remember being the second grade line looking over at the third graders that I used to be friends and play kickball with and thinking man what a bummer hey cost years away later my mother would want to put me at ACS in Knoxville at that time they had just started the school and they were going up one grade as as they had I think they started in the eighth grade and as they did a year they would go another grade to the ninth grade and do you know that I was in the ninth grade when mother called and they said you you we have just went up another grade and we would be able to take Kenneth now you said well what's your point my point is this had mother not put me back in the second grade I would have been in the 10th grade and I would have not been eligible to go to ACS well what's the big deal I'll tell you what the big deal is Midway through my first year there in the ninth grade I got baptized in Jesus name I got filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost I graduated I went the ninth grade 10th grade 11th grade 12th grade it was like a Bible College all rolled into one I graduated in June and I hit the Evangelistic field in November I'm telling you had that not them that way am I making sense tonight all things woman well I sound like Roger claber now woman you better keep the man of God alive because death is coming to your house verse 17. and it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman the Mistress of the house felt sick and his sickness was was so sore that there was no breath left in him and she said unto Elijah what have I to do with thee o thou man of God Art Thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance and to slay my son come on can we get transparent with with you with each other tonight have they not been times in your life that you have done your small acts that you have done what you could do and all of a sudden to have a disaster in a tragedy look you right in the face and if you've ever been tempted to say God is this what I get God is this what I get for doing this and that God is this what I'm doing she brought that listen she brought that dead boy to the man of God and she said is this what I get from making you a cake first is this what I get for offering bringing you in that and she said it with ridicule oh thou man of God I knew that there was nothing to this I knew that there was absolutely nothing to this and the Bible says and he took him out of her bosom here she's standing holding him in verse 19 he took her he took him out of her bosom carried him up into a loft where he Abode and laid him upon his own bed he Cried unto the Lord and said oh Lord my God hast thou also brought evil upon the Widow with whom I sojourn by slaying her son and he stretched himself upon the child three times and Cried unto the Lord and and said O Lord my God I pray thee let this child's Soul come again into him again and the Lord heard the voice of Elijah can I tell you something if there's one thing God is going to hear in your family in your life he's going to hear the word of the Lord he's going to hear you quoting the word of the Lord and the Lord heard the voice of Elijah and the soul of the child came into him again and revived Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the chamber into the house delivered him unto his mother and Elijah said see thy son liveth now watch this now and the woman said to Elijah now by this I know that thou art a man of God and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth wait a minute did not a miracle millbarrel prove I was a man of God did not a miracle Cruise of oil prove I was a man of God you see sometimes we go through stages of our faith we can believe God for Provisions as long as we see some life in it I can believe God enough to sin for Jesus when Lazarus is sick I can believe God enough to say somebody get to Jesus Lazarus is sick but what about when Lazarus dies do you still have some faith in God I believe God wants to elevate our faith tonight to go from God just providing things for us to us being able to look around and say God I know your God I know your God you have brought this man oh my my my I know you you have brought this back I'm telling you God is going to bring some things back to life in some of your lives in 2023 God is going to bring some things back to life he just said if you've got the faith to believe it do you have the faith to trust him can you praise again can you worship again can you go to church again can you believe again I know you're a man of God come on give him some praise the night in the house come on give you some praise the night in the house praise him like a minute tonight praise him like you mean it tonight you don't have far I'm gone I don't care how far you're gone God can resurrect you you don't know how long they've been out I don't care how long they've been out God can bring them back yeah listen God it's a miracle work I'm talking about small acts in a mighty hand you don't know how far you don't know you don't know how far they've been you don't know how long they've been out of church you don't know how much dead this marriage you don't know how this you don't know how that how about Samson Samson had a lot of high points in his life Samson was hero I've often preached and said Samson's a he-man with a she weakness he's a lousy choice of Barbers on top of that you know the story Delilah shaved his head his strength left him he finds himself with his eyeballs gouged out with a hot poker he finds himself doing the job of a mule they tied him to a post he ground the ground the meal as he was tied to a post he was a job a mule would do but there's a simple little verse that's got a golden nugget in it it says how be it hair of Samson begin to grow I've said it you've heard a thousand times the devil may have cut his hair but the Devil Couldn't get his roots the devil may take a lot of things out of us but if I can keep my roots in God he may he may take a lot of things on the surface but if I can just keep my roots in God and if I can just keep on serving God that hair will begin to grow again then there came a day when the enemy wanted to publicly ridicule him the enemy wanted to publicly publicly ridicule him and they brought Samson down to the stadium and the Bible said they made sport of him that's chapter 16 of judges chapter 16 verse 25 they made sport they made sport of him they laughed at him they sent little old kids out little old kids out smack around on him and they made fun of him and they cheered his little Philistine boys with sharp swords and knives would come up and Samson was fighting away he was fighting away all of all all these little and they were making smart of him something happened to Samson small Acts move Mighty hands Samson asked the young man verse 26. judges 16 and Samson said unto the lab that held him or that led him by the hand Samson said suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereup on the house standeth that I may lean upon them now the house was full of men and women and all the Lords of the Philistines were there and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women that beheld why Samson made sport they laughed at him that's what that means they laughed at him Samson called unto the Lord and said oh Lord God remember me I pray thee and strengthen me I pray thee only this once o God that I may be at once avenge of the Philistines for my two eyes a small prayer he offered God strengthened me just one more time not a three-day prayer meeting not even a 21 day prayer meeting just a simple prayer in the midst of public embarrassment and Samson took hold of the two pillar middle pillars upon which the house stood and on which it was born up of the one with his right hand and the other with his left and Samson said let me die with the Philistines and he bowed himself with all of his might and the house fell upon the Lords and upon all the people that were therein so the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his lifetime can I tell you I don't care how much of a public embarrassment you may have been you can move with a small Act of prayer you can move somebody hands just a small Act of prayer he moved you don't have to end up with being a failure you can end up in the book of Hebrews in the Hall of Faith as a hero of Faith because of that one small Act come on musicians and singers would you come to the altar would you come right now small Acts move Mighty hands small Acts preached about him a little bit this morning blind Bartimaeus got healed all he had to do was cry a little bit and he got healed the woman with the issue of blood God healed after 12 years of going to the wrong places she got healed immediately just by making her way to Jesus small acts move Mighty hands a woman a name she is finds your way to Jesus takes an alabaster box anoints Jesus when she anointed Jesus ridicule spread why was this waste Jesus said she's come to do this for my burial and in Luke 14 or excuse me Mark 14 and 9 Jesus said verily I say unto you whether so ever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial unto her can I
