Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

An angel comes to Cornelius

  • He greets the guests, reminds the trendsetters group of its first-Wednesday prayer meeting, and calls the church to give God all of their hearts.
  • He reads Acts 10: Cornelius, a devout centurion who feared God with all his house, gave much alms and prayed to God always, sees an angel who tells him his prayers and alms have come up for a memorial, and sends for Simon Peter.
  • He prays over the morning's named requests and asks God to anoint his lips to speak the word; the message came to him while he was praying in the auditorium that week: the angels are coming.

Scriptures: Acts 10:1-8

Created beings, without number

  • Angels are creatures God commanded into being, and Psalm 148 calls them to praise the name of the Lord.
  • After the fall, God placed angels with a flaming sword at the east of Eden to keep the way of the tree of life.
  • In Revelation the same tree stands in the New Jerusalem, whose twelve gates have twelve angels — in the Old Testament an angel kept people out; in the New the angels welcome them in.
  • Their number defies counting: the chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels; John heard ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Hebrews calls them an innumerable company.

Scriptures: Job (book-only, as spoken); Psalm 148:2; Psalm 148:5; Genesis 3:24; Revelation (book-only, as spoken); Psalm 68:17; Revelation 5:11; Hebrews 12:22

One angel's power, and ministry to the heirs

  • When the king of Assyria threatened Jerusalem, God promised to defend the city, and that night one angel went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians.
  • Angels are all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for those who shall be heirs of salvation.
  • Believers are children, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, so the angels' ministry now runs toward them.

Scriptures: 2 Kings 19:34-35; Hebrews 1:14; Romans 8:17

Direction, deliverance, protection — where prayer is

  • God sent Cornelius an angel of direction, yet sent a man — Peter — to tell him what he ought to do to be saved; direction for salvation comes through a man.
  • Pausing in the message, he prays for a neighboring pastor friend and asks God to send him an angel of direction.
  • An angel of deliverance woke Peter in Herod's prison, the chains fell off, and the iron gate opened of its own accord.
  • Daniel's God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths, because innocency was found in him.
  • An angel appeared to the priest at the right side of the altar of incense, while the multitude prayed outside, to announce that his wife Elizabeth would bear a son named John.
  • The common thread in every appearance is prayer: Peter was kept in prison, but prayer was made without ceasing by the church, and the angel came.
  • Jesus told Peter he could pray to the Father and presently receive more than twelve legions of angels.

Scriptures: Acts 12:6-7; Daniel 6:21-22; Luke 1:10-13; Acts 12:5; Matthew 26:53

The sign the angels look for

  • Ecclesiastes warns the worshiper to watch what he says in the presence of the angel.
  • Paul's chapter on order in worship says a woman should have power on her head because of the angels; angels are not all-knowing and look for an outward sign.
  • He testifies that when the angel passed his pew that morning, it did not find his mouth shut, but praising.

Scriptures: Ecclesiastes (book-only, as spoken); 1 Corinthians 11; 1 Corinthians 11:10

Messengers in his right hand, and angels unaware

  • God also directs through the preached and taught word: he gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints.
  • The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches — the messengers of God's word — and he applies the picture to the messenger standing before them.
  • He closes his preaching with an appeal: believe the gospel, repent, be baptized and buried with Christ, and be filled with the Spirit.
  • In the closing ministry he reads Hebrews 13:2 — be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares — and urges the church to worship so the angels are entertained.

Scriptures: Ephesians 4:11-12; Revelation 1:19-20; Revelation 2:1; Hebrews 13:2

If you'd remain standing with me today, the Bible says, "It is a good thing. It is a good thing to give praise to the Lord." >> >> It is a good thing to give praise to the Lord. We know that God sets the standard for good. We know that when he created the earth that he said it was good. And we know that the earth works. We know that the the earth works. I wouldn't want to be I wouldn't want to be by what I have seen. I wouldn't want to I wouldn't want to live on any other planet than this one. This one works. It sustains life. So, can I tell you this morning that praise works? >> It is a good thing to give praise to God. It is a good thing to tell him, "Thank you, Jesus." >> It's a good thing to say, "Thank you, Jesus." >> It's a good thing to say, "Lord, I just thank you for being good to me this week." You're so kind to stand for the reading of the word of God. Turn with me to the book of Acts, chapter number 10, verse number one. We greet all of our guests with us this morning. And we're so thankful that you have chosen First Apostolic Church to come and worship God today. And we we welcome you. And we pray by now that you have felt the warmth of the Holy Ghost. You have felt the great power of God Almighty. And so we're so so very thankful. I would like to remind everyone that uh this is uh this coming week will be the first Wednesday. and uh that elite group called the trendsetters. That elite group called the trendsetters, we will be meeting at 8:00 on Wednesday morning, the first Wednesday. We'll be meeting at 8:00 for prayer. And then after prayer, we'll be going to Global Grounds for a time of fellowship and the word. Last month, Brother Cooper brought us an amazing word there on First Wednesday. And uh this first Wednesday, we've chosen brother Salard's and he's going to be giving us he's going to be giving us a word this coming Wednesday and we look forward to that. How many love God with your heart today? >> With your heart. >> You love God with your heart. You love God with all your heart. >> Do you know that you'll never be happy? I'm so happy this morning. I'm so happy. And happy is more than a smile. I am so happy in my soul today. >> And the only way you can find happiness is to give God not some of your heart, >> but to give God all your heart. >> And so you'll never you'll never find a place you're content. You you'll ramble through life like a tumble weed until you finally give God all your heart. When you give God all your heart, you'll be satisfied. Could we just I know I've asked you to do a couple things, but could we just close our eyes and give God a praise from our heart? Doesn't have necessarily have to be a loud praise. If it's loud, that's okay. But could just everybody in this room just close your eyes and give God just all of your heart right now. God, I love you. Lord, you mean everything to me, Lord. Lord, I don't want to live life without you, God. God, I'm so happy in my soul and my spirit. So happy, oh God, in the in in the midst of everything, God. So thankful, Lord, for your love. Acts chapter 10 and verse number one. There was a certain man in Cesaria called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band. He was a military man, a devout man, one that feared God with all his house, which gave much arms to the people, and prayed to God always. He saw in a vision, evidently about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming into him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid and said, "What is it, Lord?" He said unto him, "Thy prayers and thine arms are come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Japa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter. He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside. He shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do." And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier and of them that waited on him continually. Can you say amen to the word? >> Let's go to God in prayer, not only for the message, but let's go to God in prayer for Lucas Stinit. It was a forklift accident and uh they have him at the emergency room right now. And let's pray for Lucas Stinit. Let's al also pray for brother Tommy Nichols today and Elise Andress today. Also, brother Tommy Akens, his brother passed away this week. Let's remember brother Tommy and that family in prayer. If you have requests, would you make it known by the lifting of your hand right now? Join me in prayer. Father, the name of Jesus, I pray over the sick today. God, I pray over these names, Lord, that have been mentioned today. I pray, Lord, for the names that have been turned in, Lord. God, you are the healer of body, soul, and spirit. God, you are the way maker. You are the one that can divide seas, turn them into dry ground that we can walk through. Lord, you're the one that can provide employment, God. You can be the greatest counselor, God, that we've ever had. Lord Jesus, I bring all the needs in Jesus' name. I bring them before you this morning, Father. Lord, I ask you today to anoint my lips of clay that I may speak the eternal powerful word to the hearts and the minds of the people today that through the word of God, a creative act would be performed. We would have faith in you, Lord. In Jesus wonderful name we pray. Amen. Amen. And amen. If you believe God heard our prayer today, would you give him a hand of praise right now? If you believe God heard our prayer and you may be seated in Jesus name. The inspiration for this message this morning came this past week when I was in the auditorium here during prayer times and was praying and um I was I was somewhere uh where brother Wimberly is at. I was somewhere up that aisle there. I was somewhere up that aisle and the Lord spoke to me very strongly these words, "The angels are coming." The angels are coming. I don't uh lightly say the Lord spoke to me. I don't handle it. I know that there may be those that just flippantly use the term the Lord said. I think sometimes they can't determine between the Lord saying and what they're thinking. All right. But uh I I I know that I heard the Lord in my spirit as I was walking up that aisle this past week. The angels The angels are coming. The angels That's what I want to That's what I want to minister on this morning. The angels The angels are coming. The angels are coming. Um the um fact is some want to disregard angels and say that they're no longer either existing or they're no longer at work on the earth. But uh I I believe that's an error of judgment. First, not to believe in angels, and second, not to believe that they are still at work on the earth. When the vast number of references to angels are made from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells us about angels. Tells us about angels. These created beings of God. Angels are spoken from Genesis to Revelation. We first hear of the angels in the book of Job when the Bible said that the angels shouted for joy watching God create the earth. That the angels shouted for joy. Now we know angels are are not like God in the sense that God is eternal and angels are the creation of God. Angels are the creation of God. Psalms 148 verse two says, "Praise ye him all his angels. Praise him all his host." Verse five of the same chapter speaking of the angels. Let them praise the name of the Lord for he commanded and they were created. So God has created these angelic angels. These angels, God had created them. We know that in Genesis chapter 3 and verse 24 when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, their eyes were open. They were now sinners. That there was a particular tree in the garden. It was called the tree. It was called the tree of life. Can't explain it. Just preach it. The fruit from this tree would produce life inside of a person. And so the Bible says in Genesis 3:24, "Man having now sinned, God was not going to let him live forever." In John Genesis 3:24, it says, "So he drove out the man, and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubams or angels with a flaming sword, which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life." God used an angel to guard the tree that man would no longer be able to go into the garden and there partake of the tree of life. But it's a it's interesting that we find this tree in the book of Revelation. We find this tree in the book of Revelation. But we also find in the book of Revelation that John sees an incredible city coming down out of heaven like a bride adorned for her wedding. He sees this monstrosity. He sees this huge city and John said this city it's it's it's un unimaginable. We we we we talk about large cities uh like New York City and Hong Kong and different cities around the world that that boast for how large they are. But I want you to know there's never been a man-made city on this earth that can compare to the new Jerusalem. >> But John said, now listen to it now. John said it's 1,500 miles wide and it's 1,500 miles long and it's 1,500 miles high. It's a four square city. You can compare, you can put Hong Kong, you can put New York City and LA and Houston, Texas and all the large cities of the world. You can combine them all together and put them before the New Jerusalem city and it would look like a BB rolling down a sixlane highway. There's absolutely no comparison. But this city that's 1500 miles square has 12 gates. Three on the north and three on the south, three on the east and three on the west. But the Bible also says that there's 12 angels that are there at the gates of those cities. Isn't it amazing? In the Old Testament, the angel is there to keep them out, but in the New Testament, the angels are there to welcome them to welcome them in. I I thank God. I thank God for that. today says um these angels in number. Let's talk about the number of these angels today. Psalms chapter 68 verse number 17. Psalm 68 and verse number 17 says the chariots of God are 20,000 even thousands of angels. The Lord is among them as in Si in the holy place. So now he just tells you that that God possesses 20,000 chariots. And then he just mentions that there are thousands there thousands of these angels. Revelation again is a great place to find angels. Revelation 5 and verse number 11 says, "And I beheld and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beast and the elders and the number of them was 10,000 times 10,00ands and thousands of thousands. The best research that I can do on this number here is that there it's describing at least 100 million 100 million angels. 100 million angels. Can you say amen? >> Hebrews now comes along. Hebrews 12 verse 22. Paul is describing the church of the living God. And I'm so glad to be in the church of the living God. >> He describes the church, God's God's body, God's house that he dwells in on the earth. And he he's liking it. He says in Hebrews 12 and 22, he says, "But you have come unto Mount Zion." He's talking about the church now. You you you've come to Mount Zion and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. Now, John tried to give a number, but Paul just says you you can't number these angels. So, now we've established today through the word that angels are created beings of God. And we have created we have we have established today that angels are just innumerable without without number. These angels are without without number. But now I would like to go from a hundred million and in and the innumerable number of angels. And I'd like to talk to you for just a moment about the power of just one of these angels. The power of just one of them. It happened in the days of Hezekiah the king. the king of Assyria, Sinicaria. You know, you know, he's got to be a he he's got to be a mean man. Any mama that would name their boy Sicaria. And then there's another wicked king called Rabshackle. You know that they were marked from their birth. They No wonder they were evil. I mean, Sinicarb and Rab Shackle. Well, Sicariah, he brought he brought a huge army army against the city of Jerusalem. And he sent letters to Hezekiah inside the city and he said, "We're going to destroy you. We're going to tear down your walls. We're going to destroy your temple. We're going we're going to ravish your houses. We're going to absolutely just make a mud hole out of Jerusalem." Well, Hezekiah did what any smart person would do. He took it before the Lord. He took them letters into the house of God. He laid them letters down on the altar and he said, "God, you hear what they're saying? Do do you hear what they're saying?" And basically, God spoke back to him. God spoke back to him. You know, sometimes sometimes they'll they'll put the the the initials uh on a text message. shaking my head, you know, just shaking my head. He said, God spoke back to uh Hezekiah and he said, he said, "Just laugh at him. Just laugh at him and shake your head at him. Just laugh at him and shake your head at him." And he goes on and he tells he says, "I'm gonna keep that city." Can I tell you something today? The church, God's body, is the safest place and the best place and the most prosperous place to be on this earth >> is in God's body. Amen. I am so thankful. And so they sit out there and it really didn't matter what Hezekiah said God was going to do to Sinicaria, but because the message wasn't necessarily for him. And uh the message was for the encouragement of God's people. And then in 2 Kings chapter 19:34, let's drop in on this. For God says, he says, "For I will defend this city to save it for my own sake and for my servant David's sake." And he said, "I'm gonna fight for this city." He said, "I'm gonna fight for this city." And I know he's talking about the old Jerusalem, but if he'll fight for the old Jerusalem, don't you know he'd fight for you and I? >> Some I'm gonna fight for him. Well, how you going to fight for him? It happened in verse 35. Glue your eyes on this passage. And it came to pass that night, everybody say that night. >> It came to pass that night that the angel of the Lord, one of the angels of the Lord went out. If I say one, got you got to get this in your mind. One. One of them. How many angels are there? Let me see if you've been listening to me today. How many angels are there? >> In numeral, right? Right. But how many knows that he just sent? >> One. It came to pass that night that the angel of the Lord went out and smoked in the camp of the Assyrians 100 score and 5,000. That's 185,000. And when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. In other words, one angel at night went through the camp and when they woke up in the morning, they were dead. Well, I don't guess they woke up, did they? They Nolan was preaching one time. He said, "Kill them dead." I said, "They sure did. Kill them dead." That's right. Kill them. Kill them dead. But think about that this morning. I want you to think about that. I want to build your faith. Just one angel went into a camp of 185,000 soldiers and in the morning they were all dead corpse on the ground. Do you realize that one angel? If it was a 12-hour night, that one angel average killing 15,000 per hour. 15,000. One angel per per hour was slain. Now, I wish to build our faith this morning. I know this sound more like a lecture of a college class today, but I want to build your faith in God because here we go. Hebrews 1:14 describing the angels. Hebrews 1:14. Paul said, "Are they angels? Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Now, the reason I'm starting to get a little happy inside of me today, I don't live in the Old Testament. I don't live with 185,000 uh enemy rashackle uh synicaria soldiers around me. I'm in the New Testament. And my identity today is that I am an heir of Jesus Christ. I am an heir of Jesus Christ. Romans chapter 8 and verse number 17. And if children then hes of God, joint hes with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him, we shall also be glorified with him. I want you to know today that if you're a joint heir with Jesus Christ, don't look at your suffering right now because he suffered but he is not in suffering right now. He overcame suffering and is in the glories of heaven today in a glorified body. I thank God today I am a joint heir of Jesus Christ now. Oh hallelujah. But what does that mean? That means everything I described to you today, that means the innumerable number of angels, that means that one angel that can kill 185,000, now their job is to minister to us. Now, their job is to be our servants. They're around the throne of God. They're around the throne of God. And when God knows that we need when God knows that we need the intervention of an angel, God is able to say, "Go down there to that city. Go down there to that neighborhood. Go down there to that place." I believe heaven is going to be a place of revelation of things that God has kept us from. how, you know, someone has a car wreck and and and they get some broken bones and some lacerations and and and you talk about the protection of God. Well, I don't believe God was protecting me. I I I choose to differ with you. You could be dead. >> You could be dead. Instead of instead of charging God because you've got a broke leg and a few stitches on your face, why don't you say, "God kept me. God's hand kept me. God's hand was there." I'm telling you, church, you you you got to you got to you got to lift yourself up today and realize that there's an innumerable number of angels. You see God You see God sent God sent Cornelius my text. God sent Cornelius an angel of direction, right? God said God said, "Angel God said, angel, go down to that soldier's house." I keep looking at his prayers in heaven. I keep seeing his arms giving in heaven. I keep I keep seeing him in heaven. And I want him to come to heaven and be with me. And I want you to go down to his house and I want you to walk in and I want you to tell him I want you to give him direction. I want you to tell him to go down by Japa and get a man called Simon Peter. And when he gets this man called Simon Peter, he's going to tell Simon Peter is going to tell Cornelius what he needs to do to be saved. It's an angel of direction. God is no respector of persons. Anybody in this room ever needed some direction? Don't you believe that if you need some direction and you'll talk to God and pray to God, I believe that God is able to send us a direct an angel of direction. Well, well, how do you think that would happen? I I'm going to tell you, I believe that we're all I believe we all can amen this. There have been thoughts come into my head and your head that was the right direction. You didn't come up on it on your own. >> You didn't stumble on it on your own. you sat there and and and and you you you you just spoke something out and somebody else at the table said, "Well, I never thought about that, but that would be the right way to go." Hey, don't break your hand, patting yourself on the back. You got to say, "I believe God just dropped an angelic thought in my mind, and God just gave me the angel of direction." Can somebody say, "Praise the Lord." tell you God going to give you I I feel like I just feel like I just feel like praying for somebody right now. I I really do. I feel like >> feel like praying for my good buddy, my good friend, my good neighboring pastor friend, Brother Magna. >> Brother Magna, would you stand right now? Father, >> in the name of Jesus Christ, >> I want you to give brother Magna the direction that he needs. Lord >> God, it is not in man to direct his way. God, it is not in man to direct his way. But Lord, today your servant, Brother Magna, Lord, your man that you have filled with your spirit and you not only filled him with your spirit, but you called him to preach and you called him to pastor. In the name of Jesus, send an angel of direction for the future of this man in Jesus name. Brother God, you clap your hands and praise God right now. I'm talking about I'm talking about the angel of direction that God that God can give us an angel. >> Either God's real or I'm the biggest fraud you ever listen to. But I'll go ahead and tell you right now, I'm not a fraud and God is real. He's able to give us an angel of direction. It's in it's in the book to the apostle Peter. God sent an angel of deliverance. It happened in Acts 12 verse number 6 when Herod would have brought him forth. The same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers bound with two chains the keepers before the door. He is in maximum security. I mean he is in maximum security. He He don't have a three-day pass. He not a trustee. He not Listen, you ain't going to find Peter on the on the on the pickup litter group coming down the highway. He's in maximum security. He got a chain around him of one guard and a chain around him in the other garden. There's guys in front of the door. And if that's not enough, there's a big iron gate out front that takes men to open that big iron gate. There he is. Herod's going to kill him tomorrow. Herod's going to kill him because Herod had beheaded James. with the sword. And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he then arrested Peter, intending that after Easter, he would do the same to Peter, his political popularity would grow. But you don't know who you're dealing with, Herod. For verse 7 said, "And behold, an angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison, and he smoked Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, arise up quickly, and his chains fell off." Look at the miracles the angel did. Look at the angel. A maximum security prison he broke into. He walks in a room while Peter's sleeping, chain around him one side to this guard, chain around him the other side to the other guard. And he walks in the room, turns the light on, smokes Peter on the side and says, "Get up." Peter stands up. And when Peter stands up, the chains fell off. And the angel said, "Put your robe on. We're getting out of here." The angels, let me tell you, they've done be given the the the the the the prisoners have done been put in a deep sleep. They've been put in a deep sleep. They don't even wake up. Peter starts following the angel. He follows outside the prison cell. And there's those guys. They're sleeping. He follows them down a hall and upstairs and out and out into the open prison courtyard. And then here's that big iron gate that takes grown men to push it open. But now the gate just opens of its own accord. Peter walks through the gate. And when Peter gets out on the street, he gets out on the street, the angel leaves and Peter comes to the realization and and and scripture says this. Peter thought he was having a dream. It was a good dream. He thought he was having a vision. He thought, "Man, I'm dreaming a really good dream." But when all of a sudden the night air hit him, he said, "This ain't no dream." Said, "The Lord has sent his angel and has delivered me." Can I Can I tell you something? Some of you have have been having unimaginable good dreams. You've been having unimaginable good thoughts of things being put back together and people being delivered. Some of you have been having thoughts of some good news coming your way. But I got news for you. That's not just your thoughts. That's God's angel of deliverance saying, "I'm going to move." Let me go on. Come on. Daniel. Daniel chapter 6 verse number 21. You've been thrown into a hungry lion's den. And the Bible said that Daniel Then said Daniel unto the king, "Oh king, live forever. My God has sent his angel, and have shut the lion's mouth that they have not hurt me. In as much as be before him innocency was found in me, and also before thee, O king, I have done no hurt. Look at this. Here is here is the angel of direction. Here is the angel of deliverance. And now here is the angel of protection. And I'm claiming all of these for my life and for your life today >> that God will give us an angel of direction. That's right. It wasn't my brother Solomon, that wasn't my great idea up on the hill with that paper's in my hand. That paper's in my hand. And and while I'm at it, there's a bunch of graduates walking all over around here passing out these uh cards. And I'm going to tell you, I'm not only going to be at their graduation. I'm going also put a little money in there. I might have to We got some money. I might have to go to the bank and get some money or rob the bank or do something. I may have to do do something. My wife said, "Oh, I wish you had said that." I wouldn't rob a bank. I wouldn't. Not Not alone. Anyway, I I I might take brother Clayron with me. But anyway, I'm claiming that that wasn't my ideal up on the hill. >> Wasn't my idea when I had that that piece of paper that broke down how to raise a million dollars and five years and five years we get a million dollars and we could start we could start putting the uh uh addition on the back of the old church up on the hill and uh we we're going to take up all the parking. We'd have to worry about the parking later. When God said, "My son, my coming is soon. I want you to begin to give to missions as never before, and I will take care of the new auditorium." That wasn't my That wasn't my slick thinking. I'm not I'm nowhere near smart enough for that. That was an angel of direction saying, "This is the way I want to direct my church. This is the way that I want to raise up." I claim that for you today. I claim that for you today. God sent an angel to Zachchariah in the New in the New Testament, which is the Old Testament. It's it's in the book of Luke. God sent an angel in Luke 1 verse number 10. And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Now, this is important. I want you to get this. When you hear voices speak to you, you hear voices. Angels always speak between the incense, which is prayer, on the right side of the altar. Between the incense and what's on the right side of the altar is the table of shoebre. Angels always will position themsel because anything you hear that you feel it's from God, take it to the word. Take it to the word. >> Take it. Take it to the word of God. You hear something? You hear something? Take it to the word of God. Look for verification in the word of God. And when Zachcharias saw him, he was troubled and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, "Fear not, Zachcharias, for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John." Now I want I want to show you something today. I want to show you a common brother Magna a common thread in many of the stories that I've told about angels appearing. Cornelius an angel appeared. The apostle Peter an angel appeared. Daniel in the Old Testament an angel appeared. Hezekiah in the Old Testament an angel appeared. Zachcharias here in the book of Luke, an angel appeared. Are you ready for the common thread that binds these all together? The common thread throughout the scriptures is that God works in conjunction with our prayers. >> God works in conjunction with our prayers. >> It has been witnessed more than just me has felt this. But many of the prayer warriors of this church have felt this. They have said, "Since we have taken our prayer up a notch and we've opened up the church for prayer from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, since we've opened it up," now I I felt this, but then it was confirmed by many others that have been coming. They say it seems that there is a holiness about our auditorium. It seemed like when we come in the middle of the day and we begin to pray, sometimes you're all alone, but you don't feel all alone. Sometimes it's one or two, but you feel like there's more here than just one or two. Can I tell you the common thread in Daniel, Hezekiah, Peter, Cornelius, the common thread is prayer. There was prayer going up before there was the appearance of an angel. No wonder, no wonder your flesh fights prayer. No wonder prayer becomes a difficult thing to do because all hell is fighting against you establishing a prayer life. Because when you begin to establish a prayer life, you begin to work in conjunction with the angels. The angels begin to work. >> Is it the truth? >> What was Cornelius doing before the angel came? Your prayers >> have come up for a memorial. What was Peter? No. What was the church doing before the angel showed up in the prison? Acts 12 verse number five. Peter therefore was kept in prison. I hope you got this on the screen. Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. Peter represents authority. Peter represents guidance. Satan wants to imprison your authority. Satan wants to imprison the things in your life. But the only thing that can set you free. Boy, let me tell you, I thank God for shouting. I thank God for our music. I thank God for our excitement, our enthusiasm, our leaping. I do it all. I I thank God for that. But can I tell you, you are being shortch changed if you don't develop a prayer life. If you don't develop a prayer life, you can shout all you want to here in this auditorium, but you'll go out there and live a bound up life, but if you can ever learn how to pray, there's an angel of direction coming. If you'll ever learn how to pray, there's an angel of deliverance coming. If you'll learn how to pray, there's an angel of protection coming. If you'll learn how to pray, there's the angel of an answered prayer that's coming your way. If you will learn how to pray, the church was praying, the angel showed up. Cornelius was praying and the angel showed up. Daniel is thrown in the Does anybody know why Daniel was put in the lion's den? >> What? >> Why was he put in the lion's den? >> Because he was a man of prayer. >> He was a man of prayer. But people of prayer seem to have the common thread of angels coming down. Prayer moves God to send angels to minister unto us who are the heirs of salvation. When you can't get to the hospital, God's angel can get there. When you can't get in the heart and the mind of somebody, God's angel can speak to them. Jesus is about to go to Calvary. Peter has looked at the men coming to arrest him. And Peter's taken out a sword and tried to defend Jesus. And in Matthew 26:53, Jesus looks at him and says these words. Matthew 26:53, he says, "Thinkakest thou that I cannot now pray to my father, and he shall presently give me more than 12 legions of angels." He says, "Peter, put the sword up. Don't you know that I could make one prayer? I could pray one prayer. Everybody say one. >> I could pray one prayer and presently there would be given me more than 12 legions of angels. 12 legions. 12 legions. According to commentaries, men that have researched the Bible, 12 legions of angels is 72,000 angels. Imagine that. 72,000 angels. He says, "Don't you know that I could pray one prayer and this garden would be filled with 72,000 angels." Now, would you remember with me? Let me check you out. See if you follow me. How many did one angel kill? 185,000. Do you realize that if you times that 72,000 times 185,000 is over 13 billion? Do you realize there's just a little over 8 billion people on planet Earth? But God's got a force in heaven that could take care of 13 billion angels. I don't know about you. I don't know about you. A lot of people have had they've had a knee-jerk reaction because people have, you know, they claim to see angels in trees and angels in the kitchen sink and all of that. Whether they do or not, that's between them and God. But I'm going to tell you, the Bible angels, >> the Bible angels, they'll give you the right direction. >> I said the Bible angels >> will give you the right protection. that car about slid off the road. When it does the next time and you come and you don't know how that you come to a stop and you didn't hit anything and everybody's all right, you ought to raise your hands and say, "Jesus, thank you for the angel. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord, for the angel. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord, for the angel." Aren't you glad today there's an angel? We're living in a perverse generation. We're living We're We're living in a sex trafficking. We're living in a day that children are being abducted from our city streets. I don't know about you, I feel for all of them today, but I'm not going to live my life in a certain vacuum of fear and woe. I'm going to live my life knowing that I am surrounded by an innumerable number of angels that are here to protect me. Now, if that doesn't make you want to live right, I don't know what would help you want to live right. If that doesn't help, you want to give God the praise, you have all the insurance you want to, but I'm going to have the blessed assurance. Could you just lift your hands and give him praise right now? Come on, lift your hands and give him praise if you're thankful for it right now. If you're thankful for it right now, if you're thankful, if you're thankful, you're thankful. >> Now, let me let me help us all today. Let me help us all. Do you know the Bible instructs us to be careful what we say in the presence of the angel? Does the book of Ecclesiastes it says you better watch your mouth in the presence of the angel. You better better watch what you say in the presence of the angel. Better watch. But then again talking about the house of God. talking about the house of God. The first chapter of Corinthians, the 11th chapter of 1 Corinthians, Paul begins to talk about order and creation and decorum in worship in the house of God. He begins to talk about he begins to talk about order, decorum and worship. And he talks about that God gave a woman's hair for glory. He gave it for glory. You could even if you want to study this out scientifically about a female's hair and a male and all all of that. It was God that gave the woman her hair for a glory for a covering for a for a sign for a sign. God gave God gave the woman God gave the woman her hair, her her uncut hair. It is a is a sign of her submission to the order of creation. And it talks about the order of creation. But here's where I want to introduce you to something. Paul sums it up by saying, "The woman should have a sign of power on her head because of the angels." because of the angels. In other words, the angels are not omni omniresent. They're not they're they're not omnisient is what I meant to say. Angels are not omnisient. They don't know it all. They don't know the heart, but they can look for an outer sign. You can look for an outer sign. I'm going to tell you today that if the angel was watching my mouth today in church, the angel did not watch a man that's been redeemed and blessed exceedingly keep his mouth shut when it came to giving praise to God. >> When the angel came by my pew and looked at my pew and they were singing the song about God being good, the angel did not find my mouth shut today. The angel found me saying, "Thank you, Jesus. I love you, Lord. I magnify you, God. I I glorify you, God. You see, the angels are not omnisient. They're not all knowing. They got to look for a sign. And when they see signs of rebellion, the angels begin to say, "We need to stay back from this." Because we understand judgment comes to the rebellious. No, Mr. Angel, I love the Lord. I love him with all my heart. I love him with all my soul today. I I love the Lord. I love the Lord. I love the Lord. My wife will joke with me sometimes because sometimes I ask questions while I'm preaching. I I I'll say things like, "Can I go on?" Or I'll say things like, "Does this make sense?" She said, "What are you going to do one day when somebody says, "No, I'll rebuke them. >> No, I won't. I'll teach them Bible study. Does this make sense? >> Come on. >> Does it just not just doesn't just not make sense today? I I know we got the Holy Ghost on the inside, but is anybody glad that the angels are coming? >> Is anybody glad with me today that I I'm just right there about where Brother Wimberly was is sitting right now. I was walking up there and I heard him say, "The angels are coming." And I believe the angels are coming to First Apostolic Church. and the people that go to church here because we are people of prayer. The angels are coming. The angels are coming. The angels are coming. The angels look at the angel of direction. Now, I'm not saying that God cannot give you direction through an angel, but let me show you a New Testament way that God is communicating direction. Ephesians chapter 4 and verse number 11. Ephesians chapter 4 and verse number 11. And he God gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for what? The perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. I want you to know today, you can you can an angel can give you direction, but God does work through the ministry of the preached word >> and through the ministry of the taught word. >> That's why you ought to do your best to pay attention. You ought to do your best to hang on the word and try to comprehend the word and try to conceive the word in your heart because the word is a lamp and a light. The word will tell me where I'm at right now, but it'll also be the light to my pathway. It is the angel of direction. Now, I I I I don't want anybody referring to me as an angel. Although, I believe that some do refer to me as an angel here in the church as a fallen angel. All right? But I I I want you to know the Bible does refer to the ministers of the gospel as angels. And that is found in Revelation chapter 1. And I want our musicians to come at this time, please. Revelation chapter 1 and verse number 19. Revelation 11:19. He says, "Write the things which thou hast seen and the things which are and the things which shall be hereafter." Now follow this now. The mystery I'm going to unveil something. The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand and the seven golden candlesticks. Now he said, "You saw seven stars in my right hand and you saw seven golden candlesticks." He said, "Now let me show you the mystery of them." He said, "The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand and the seven golden candlesticks, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches." Revelation 2 and one. unto the angel of the church at Ephesus. Right? Let me show you this. Each of the seven churches, seven is a number of completion. It's a number of wholeness. It's not just seven churches. It was to the whole church. But all these churches had an angel. But that angel is not like I've been preaching about. The angel is the messenger of the word of God. He is the messenger of God's word. That is the angel that he is that he is referring to. And here it is today. This angel standing in front of you proclaiming the word wants to give you direction today. If you've not submitted your life and heart to God, this angel wants to tell you that you need to empty your heart of all unbelief. You need to empty your heart of all unbelief. And you need to believe with all of your heart today that there is a God. There is an Elohim. There is a God, the creator of this universe. There is a God whom we cannot comprehend and conceive in our minds. And so this God that we cannot comprehend or conceive came to this earth and overshadowed a virgin girl and from the divine overshadowing this Elohim. This almighty God rob himself in human flesh to walk this earth. The God of eternity encapsulated himself into time. This God of eternity walked for some 33 and a2 years for one purpose. So that I can give this body. I can shed this blood and I can restore and redeem and bring back fallen man that's in the clutches that's in the the vice of the devil. I I I I've died on a cross and I rose again the third day. And that's called the good news. It's called the good news of Jesus Christ. He came to this earth. He paid the sin debt. He rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven. Believe it. Listen to this angel today. Believe it. >> Listen to this angel today. Repent. Turn your life over to God. Admit that you've made a wreck and a mess out of your life. You've made a wreck and a mess out of your life. You seem to think that you're getting ahead, but you find you're further behind now that you've ever been. Life is a drudgery to you. You dread getting up in the morning. Your life is one big basket of disappointment after disappointment today. Then give it to God. Give it to God this morning. Tell God this morning, "I'm done with it, God. I'm finished with it, God. I've made a wreck out of my life, God. I give you my life, God." Then listen to me. of your own free will. Come up here and tell somebody, "I want to be bapt The angel's trying to talk to you right now. I want to give you direction. I want to be water baptized. I want to be immersed. Not for the purpose, not for the man-made purpose of joining a church, but I want to be baptized. I want to be immersed. I want to be buried with Christ in baptism that like as Christ died and was buried and rose again, that we may walk in newness of life. I want to have all my sins, all my messed up life, all my lies, my cheating, all of my underhanded, dirty deals. I want to have them washed away in the waters of baptism. I'm trying to give you direction. And then when I come up out of that water, fill me with your spirit, oh God. Fill me with that overcoming spirit. To those of you today that are here and you said done that, check the box and done that, but I've drifted from him. Let the angel give you direction today. Get up from your pew and get down here in the altar and rededicate your life back to God. Red consecrate your life back to God. Rededicate it. Reconsecrate it. Revive it. Bring it back to God and say, "God, here am I, God. Here am I, God. Here am I, God. Here am I, God." If you're here today and you're sick in your body, you can make your way to the front and tell one of our elders, one of our ministers, would you get some oil and pray with me now again today? I know it's simple. I know it's simple, but this angel is trying to give you direction today. I know that God can send can but but but but would you please notice this could not that angel had told Cornelius Cornelius you need to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ you need to believe the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ you need to repent of your sins be baptized in Jesus name and receive the gift of the hol could the angel not have prayed him through the Holy Ghost why Peter because God says when it comes to directions of salvation I'm going to send a man. >> I'm going to send somebody to you today. Would you stand with me right now? Would you close your eyes all over this building? We're just going to let the Holy Ghost work among us today. Let the Holy Ghost work among us right now. Oh God, I love you right now. Come on. Let's invite the presence of the Lord with a song right now. That beautiful song you're singing right now. Let's tell God through a song right now that we want him. God, I've done my preaching. God, I've done what I feel. >> Lord, you told me the angels are coming. God, >> you told me the angels are coming, God. >> God, you told me the angels are coming. >> God, I believe the angels are coming right now, Lord. Lord, I believe, God, the angels are coming right now. We've got water if anybody wants to be baptized. We got water, a change of clothing. We've got everything you need today. >> Come on, right now. >> Come on. Right now. Those of you that need direction. >> Those of you that need deliverance right now. >> Oh God, I need the angels right now, God. >> God, I need the angels right now, God. >> Oh God, I need it right now. God, you'd be so kind to move up as close as you can around the altar so that everybody that wants to come will have a place. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Glory to God. But those of you that could give me your attention just for a moment. Hebrews chapter 13 and verse number two says, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers. For thereby some have entertained angels unawares." I wonder what could be the entertainment of angels this morning. I do know one thing. We're singing a song the angels cannot sing. I do know that we were made a little lower than the angels. >> The angels do worship. They bow. They cry holy, holy, holy. But I wonder if the angels could be entertained by us today. That in the presence of our God, the angels could hear the voices of the redeemed worshiping Almighty God right now. >> I don't want an angel to find me silent right now. I love you Lord. >> I worship you God. >> I praise you Jesus. Glory. Glory. Glory. Glory. Glory. Glory. >> Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you for the blood. Thank you for the blood.
