Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

He named apostles: Luke 6:12-13

  • New year, first things first: he taught last week on one God and continues this morning — not the usual Sunday-morning evangelistic style of presentation, 'but I believe that teaching God's Word can bring an evangelistic result.'
  • He reads his designation entire: 'and it came to pass in those days that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God; and when it was day he called unto him his disciples, and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles.'

Scriptures: Luke 6:12-13

The first message of the New Testament church: Acts 2:37-42

  • He designates Acts chapter 2 and verse 37 — 'the very first message on the very first day of the New Testament church, of which we are a part today' — and reads the whole exchange: pricked in their heart, the men ask Peter and the rest of the apostles, 'men and brethren, what shall we do?'
  • Peter's answer is read entire: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost — the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off; about three thousand souls were added that day.
  • The read closes where the doctrine is named: 'and they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers' — and he announces his subject: 'I would like to teach on the subject the apostolic doctrine', praying to preach and teach the word with the spirit of revelation on the hearers.

Scriptures: Acts 2:37-42

What 'apostolic' means

  • Webster's defines 'apostolic' as relating to, or conforming to, the teachings of the New Testament apostles; the Greek word for apostle means a delegate — an ambassador, an official, a commissioned delegate of Christ, one sent forth with orders, the highest-ranking representative of his own government living in another country.
  • Three categories must not be confused: the original apostles found in the Bible; the 'early church fathers', men who lived some of them several hundreds of years after the apostles — the so-called Apostles' Creed presents a God of three persons, and the original apostles had absolutely nothing to do with it; and the churches that came later.

Back to the original

  • The original church was birthed on the day of Pentecost — its mother is Jerusalem, its birthplace Jerusalem, the Holy Ghost filling the 120 in the upper room; several hundreds of years later another group formed what is known today as the Catholic, the universal, church, with its own Bible.
  • His prayer at the prayer times has been: God, lead us to people who are full of sincerity but maybe not full of scriptural truth — sincere people who love God as much as someone has taught them, whom God can reach with the fullness of truth and take back to the original.
  • 'No additives, no added book, no documents written hundreds of years later, no progressive revelation: if they didn't have it in this book, I don't want it — this is the only book I have confidence in, the only thing I'm staking my life upon.'

Light received, and light refused

  • The Protestant movement took its name from protest — they protested against the Catholic church and split into denominations. Martin Luther, who hated his flesh and fasted and stood barefoot in the snow to afflict it, stumbled on the scripture 'the just shall live by faith' and saw it was not the steps the church prescribed; John Wycliffe was burned at the stake for translating the Bible so the common man could read it.
  • Another chamber of light followed: nowhere in the Bible was anyone sprinkled — baptism was always immersion — and the people who held to it became known as the Baptist. But a grave error ran through the movements: they protested, received light, and stopped with the light they had and went no further.
  • He has come to preach as non-offensively as he can, but the original apostolic message must be proclaimed: if Mary had to be a virgin, the message has to be a virgin — man must have nothing to do with tampering with it.

He opened their understanding: Luke 24:45

  • Not only were the apostles chosen by God: 'Luke 24:45 says this about the apostles — then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.'
  • He did a spiritual thing on their minds — he gave them a revelation; he opened their understanding like he opened blinded eyes and deaf ears. The Bible comes alive when you are hungry to know its meaning.

Scriptures: Luke 24:45

That they might know thee: John 17:6-20

  • 'In teaching about doctrine you're going to hear a lot of Scripture': he designates John chapter 17 and verse 6 — 'and again John chapter 17 verse number 6' — and reads Jesus' prayer continuously through verse 20 with running comment.
  • The read carries 'I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world', 'I pray for them', the sanctifying word ('sanctify them through thy truth'), and the widening circle of verse 20: 'neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.'

Scriptures: John 17:6-20

The name in the commission

  • Expounding the commission Jesus gave the apostles — go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature — he reaches the formula: 'baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.' The wording is delivered entire and pressed twice.
  • His point is the singular: there is no name yet in 'Son', and there is no name in 'Holy Ghost' — Father, Son and Holy Ghost are titles awaiting the name, and that is why this church does not practice baptism by that formula: it is an apostolic church that goes back to the original. (The book is designated nowhere in the act — see the refs receipt.)

Mindful of the words: 2 Peter 3:2 and 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10

  • Years later, the same Peter who preached on the day of Pentecost writes that they be 'mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior' — the epistles were letters of instruction and admonition to the church.
  • At Thessalonica a cancer was growing within: the false teaching that Jesus had already returned and they had been left — against it he designates 'second Thessalonians chapter 1 verse number 7' and reads through verse 10: the Lord Jesus revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God and obey not the gospel.

Scriptures: 2 Peter 3:2; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10

Set in the church, built on the foundation

  • 'We get our church structure, we get our church order from the apostles: first Corinthians 12:28 — and God hath set some in the church, first apostles...'
  • 'Ephesians 2 and 20': built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone — the household of God fitted together on that foundation.

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 2:20-22

He gave some apostles: Ephesians 4:11-14

  • Designated and read: 'he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers — for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry', through the unity of the faith and the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (vv.11-14).
  • Do not discern whether a man is called to preach by how loud he gets or how fast he can spit the words out, or how flowery he is: determine whether he is preaching the original apostolic message.

Scriptures: Ephesians 4:11-14

The names in the foundations: Revelation 21:14

  • Before you enter the city — New Jerusalem, fifteen hundred miles wide, tall and long, three gates on each side — look down: 'Revelation chapter 21 and verse number 14: and the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.'
  • Don't downgrade the apostles: whichever gate you enter, north, south, east or west, you will step over a foundation carrying an apostle's name — that is the only way you got there.

Scriptures: Revelation 21:14

Take heed unto yourselves: Acts 20:27-30

  • 'Paul said, and I end with this — Acts chapter 20 verse number 27: for I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God; take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood.'
  • The read runs through verse 30: after his departing, grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock, and of your own selves shall men arise speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. When we leave for the admiration of men instead of the admiration of the message, we are in trouble: if you are looking for a man to follow you are looking at the wrong man — get behind the message.

Scriptures: Acts 20:27-30

Preach the word: 2 Timothy 4:1-3

  • Designated ('second Timothy four and one') and read through verse 3: preach the word, be instant in season and out of season — for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.
  • Never scratch an ear: don't go somewhere because they tell you what you want to hear, and don't want a preacher who will preach only part of the Bible to you.

Scriptures: 2 Timothy 4:1-3

The close: a man with his papers, and a baptism

  • His closing telling is of Clifford Hightower (the captions render the surname 'white towel'/'high tower' in the baptism introduction): a man who had been baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost and spoken in tongues, had tried churches, came asking what kind of church this is, and wanted to join — bringing his church membership certificate, his 'papers', with him.
  • 'The power is not in our music, as much as I love our music; our power is not even in our demonstrative worship — our power is in our message.' He prays for a harvest of the sincere across the county, to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
  • He baptizes Brother Hightower in the capture's close with the apostolic formula spoken entire — 'I do now baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost' — and dismisses the church: sign up for care groups as you exit, and tonight, prayer at 5:30.

you stand with me today if you have your Bibles and return with me to Luke chapter 6 verse number 12 if you do not have your Bible with you you turn your attention to the screens and the scripture will be on the screens I begin the new year off first things first and I taught last week on 1 God and I want to continue although it may not be what we have been used to on Sunday morning more of a an evangelistic style of presentation but I believe that teaching God's Word can bring an evangelistic result Luke chapter 6 and verse number 12 and it came to pass in those days that he went out into a mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God and when it was day he called unto him his disciples and of them he chose twelve whom he also whom also he named apostles he named apostles Acts chapter 2 and verse number 37 the very first message on the very first day of the New Testament church of which were a part of today now when they heard this they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles men and brethren what shall we do then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for the promise isn't to you and to your children and to all that are afar off even as many as the Lord our God shall call and with many other words did he testify and exhort saying save yourselves from this untoward generation then they that gladly received his word were baptized and the same day they were added unto them about 3,000 souls and they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers for a few moments this Sunday morning I would like to teach on the subject the apostolic doctrine the apostolic doctrine father I love you I thank you today for the privilege and the calling of God that has upon my life I thank you today that I find my fulfillment and my purpose in life by doing what you have called me to do and that is to preach and teach your word Lord I ask today that you would touch your people asked that today that you would give all of us in this room the spirit of Revelation that your word would be open to us today that we may behold the beautiful things that come from your word will give you all the praise and all the glory and all the honor for in the name of Jesus we pray amen and amen you may be seated Webster's dictionary defines the word apostolic as relating to or confirming or conforming relating to or conforming to the teachings of the New Testament apostles Daniel Webster says the word apostolic the word apostolate is relating to or conforming to the teachings of the New Testament apostles the Greek word for apostle simply means a delegate it means an ambassador of the gospel an official a commissioned delegate of Christ it means the word apostle means the highest-ranking person who represents his or her own government for the word ambassador represents his or her own government while living in another country it's an authorized representative a delegate a messenger one sent forth with orders and then it applies specifically it applies to the apostles of Jesus Christ now allow me today to take us a little bit of a history lesson this morning as we look because a lot of confusion is in Christendom today because of the use and the acceptance of non biblical words words that are not found in the Bible words that do not have their roots in the New Testament there are non biblical words now I'm very much aware of the fact that the word rapture is not in the Bible the word itself rapture is not in the Bible but yet we can't use the word because the foundational teaching of the Lord snatching up or catching up from this earth a people the Bride of Christ in we call it being being raptured being raptured but there are several non biblical words and non biblical doctrines that are simply accepted let me explain to you the three categories today there is the original Apostles found in the Bible there is what is termed and please don't get these confused early church fathers you'll hear the term our early church fathers believed such as so what they are saying when they say our early church fathers believed they are referring to men who lived some of them several hundreds of years after the original apostles for example you have heard people talk about the Apostles Creed and the Apostles Creed presents a God of three persons and they called it the Apostles Creed but you must understand that the original Apostles had absolutely nothing to do with what is referred to as the Apostles Creed we have the original Church that was what that was birthed on the day of Pentecost it has its mother is Jerusalem its birthplace was Jerusalem it started on the day of Pentecost with the coming of the Holy Ghost that filled 120 and a birth take took place in that Upper Room and the New Testament church was birthed on that day several hundreds of years later there was another group that gathered and they formed what is known today as the Catholic Church the universal Church the Catholic Church they have their own Bible many sincere people I'm gonna tell you something we'll stop here and tell you what God has been dealing with pastor about many of you that have been here at the prayer time have been hearing me say this over and over again this is my prayer I've been praying God lead us to people who are full of sincerity but maybe not full of scriptural truth there's a lot of people that are full of that they're very sincere they love God as much as someone has taught them from the Bible but I believe if I've been asking God to touch my eyes and help me to mature my eyes to the place to where we see an unprecedented move of God's Spirit upon sincere people in our county that we can reach them with the fullness of truth and add take them back to the original take them back to the original because this is the only book I have confidence in this is the only book I'm staking my life upon this is the only thing I'm staking my life no additives no added book no documents written hundreds of years later no progressive revelation if they didn't have it in this book I don't want it if they did not have it in this book I don't want it they didn't have it I don't want it and so we have the Catholic Church and from the Catholic Church we have the split of the Protestant movement now the Protestant movement movement take its name Protestant protest they protested against the Catholic Church they protested against it and they split off from the Catholic Church into different now label different denominations that have come out come out of that and they are called Protestants they came out with truth it was a Martin Luther that nailed to the door of the Catholic Church a list of Scripture and a list of things because Martin Luther a man that wanted to please God so much Martin Luther he read some of his writings he absolutely hated his flesh he felt like that the flesh was the biggest enemy of having God to fully move through your life as a matter of fact if you read some of his Diaries read some of his life Martin Luther used to fast and go without food and when that became commonplace to him Martin Luther would go stand barefooted out in the snow and he felt like the more pain he could afflict to this flesh the closer to God that he would get Martin Luther stumbled upon a scripture and it simply said this the just shall live by faith and he began to see it was not the works that he had been trained to come before God it was not the steps that the Catholic Church told him had to take place to get him in the presence of God it was not a priest that at that time kept their Bible chained to the podium because they did they didn't want the common people to read the Bible he's a matter of fact John Wycliffe one of the first translators of the Bible was burned at the stake what was his crime he translated the Bible they did not what the Bible translated because then the common man can read the Bible but Martin Luther read where the just should live by faith and he began to approach against the church and from that other light chamber other light came another light pain groups came that saw that it was a it took more than a few drops of water on your head to call it baptism they begin to see the revelation of scripture nonetheless of Scripture it was non biblical nowhere in the Bible was anyone ever just sprinkled with water they saw that that were always submerged immersed in water and they held on to that and a group of areas sincere people became known as the Baptist because they baptized they baptized but with many of the Protestant movements a grave error was committed they protested and they received light but they stopped with the light that they had and they went no further I have come today from the bottom of my heart to preach as non-offensive as I can but we must proclaim the original apostolic message if Mary had to be a virgin I believe the message has to be a virgin I don't believe man should have anything to do with the message it's got to be holy ghost sin it's got to be heaven sent it can't be tainted by anything diluted by anything man could have if you're thankful for a virgin message would you give God some praise right now what makes the original apostles so special well one of the things that makes them special as they were chosen by God but they were not only chosen by God the man Christ Jesus spent an entire night praying and the next morning he called his disciples and then of the disciples he chose twelve of them and then he called them apostles official ambassadors he called them a delegate he called them certified messages you are a certified messenger you've seen dealing with car warranties and different things you'll hear them say they are a certified for know they are a certified Schiphol a or there are certified Mercedes or whatever they're certified and when you see that certification you know that they've been trained by the manufacturer the twelve apostles were the certified messengers of Jesus Christ they walked with him for three and a half years they slept beside him they ate with him they heard him teach no other group of men in history had the closeness that the original apostles had with Jesus Christ I've used this example before but if I was called upon to do a funeral of someone that I do not know if I was called on and say a woman her husband died and she wanted me to preach his funeral and I wanted to know some things about this man you know that I would go to his wife I wanted to know something about him if I wanted to know what his favorite hobby was I wanted to know what he likes to do if I wanted to know what he was like I would go to his wife and I was asked her some questions why you know the answer to that she's the closest one to him she's going to know all the things that he does who other would know what Jesus Christ would want to be taught to this world but those apostles that's why today it's important that we could say we believe the Apostles message not only were they chosen by God but Luke 24:45 says this about the Apostles Luke 24 45 then open he their understanding talking about the Apostles then Jesus opened their understanding that they might understand the scriptures he did a spiritual thing on their minds he gave them a revelation I will tell you today the Bible comes alive when you're hungry to know its meaning it's a thing called revelation it's the thing called that that he reveals to you the world he opened their understanding like he opened blinded eyes he opened their understanding like he opened deaf ears he opened their understanding and all of a sudden they're able to understand what sit with me the scriptures Jesus prays in John chapter 17 and again John chapter 17 verse number 6 and again I want to make an explanation here in teaching about doctrine you're going to hear a lot of Scripture because scripture must interpret Scripture so it's not going to be about it's not going to be one small scripture a bunch of thoughts for brother carpenter because that's not how you come to a doctrine you come to a doctrine by let's scripture interpret scripture scripture ought to be like a pair of socks or gloves they're only good if they have their mate right a pair of gloves is only good if you got to make to it you don't have a mate to you know you may go around one one glove on one hand in your pocket you don't like doing that same thing with scripture all the scripture will have a mate to back it up and the matter matter of fact the Bible says if I say the Bible says out of the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established so we can't take one little portion of Scripture and make an entire doctrine out of it because I'm going to ask where's its mate where's the mate to this it's one of the reasons when we water baptized around here we do not repeat the words Father Son and Holy Ghost because there's no mate to it there's nowhere in this Bible the King James Version of the Bible there's nowhere in the Bible where anyone was ever baptized repeating those words it has it does not have a mate so if it doesn't have a mate what's the meaning well the meaning is baptized him in the name of the Father and it doesn't read although you'll hear this and this is why you need to be great you need to have your Bible I've heard I've heard people quote this i baptize you down the name of the Father and in the name of the Holy in the name of the son in the name of a Holy Ghost the Bible does not say that Jesus did not say that Jesus said go into all the world matter of fact nobody's even this is another thing about the Bible this is another thing about the Bible it's very easy the Bible is not complicated you just got to use a few rules to understanding the Bible number one who's speaking who's speaking number two who's being spoken to and number three what is the conversation it's easy you never you don't want to be like that guy that felt he used to he used to read his Bible and get direction from God by setting his Bible up on its end like this and closing his eyes I let it fall open and he just he had his eyes closed you put his finger down and wherever is that he just felt like that was God's word for the day he got up one morning needing direction from God and opened his Bible and closed his eyes and put his finger down and it came down on the passage of scripture that said and Judas went out and hanged himself he saw a man I don't like that I don't like that so we closed the Bible back hoping it back up close his eyes put his finger back down in a totally different book a totally different thing was going on and it simply said and you go and do likewise now who's being spoken to to speaking what has been what are they speaking about Jesus is speaking to the apostles he is commissioning them to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature and then he says baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost there's no name yet son and there's no name and Holy Ghost there's no mate to that that's why we do not practice that baptism that formula here at this church why because we are an Apostolic Church we're an apostolic church that goes back to the original prayed all night long shows them the next morning apostles we go all the way back to the original open their understanding that they might understand the scripture apostles because the certified messengers are recorded numerous times in the book of Acts and may even make mention of it in their epistles that they baptize calling on the name of Jesus Christ now Jesus is praying here in John 17 verse number 6 he is praying here analysts to follow along with him he says I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou has which thou gave us me out of the world time they were and thou hast gave us them me and they have kept thy word he is talking about the Apostles the man Christ Jesus is praying and he says I thank you that you gave me these men these men are the apostles and as a matter of fact he says I manifested jesus said I manifested your name to them and then he said they apostles have kept your word verse 7 now they have known that they is the Apostles have known that all things whatsoever thou has given me or of thee for I have given unto them that's the Apostles the words which thou gave us me they have received them and have known surely that I came out from me and they the Apostles have believed that thou didst send me I pray for them the Apostles and I'm I keep saying this because I want you to know he's praying for these apostles I pray for them the Apostles I pray not for the world but for them which thou has given me she the Apostles for their life and all my other hand mine and I am glorified in them and now I am no more in the world but these are in the world the apostles I come to the Holy Father keep through thine own name those whom thou has given me the apostles that they may be one as we are unified while I was with them the apostles in the world I kept them in thy name those that thou gave us me I have kept none of them is lost but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled and now I come to thee and these things I speak in the world they says I'm praying right now that they the Apostles might have my joy fulfilled in themselves he said I'm praying this so they can hear of this relationship I have given them thy word them the Apostles and the world have hated them because they are not of the world even as I am NOT of the world and we'll stop here for a moment and let you understand something we need to please God not man we need to please God not man s worshipers of Jesus Christ Bible reading and believing people we need to please God and not man we don't need to worry about pleasing the denominator church fathers we need to please God so I gave them the word and the religious system hated them verse 15 I pray not that thou should us take them the Apostles out of the world but that thou should us keep them from evil they are not of the world even as I am NOT of the world sanctify them through that truth that word sanctified means to separate for a holy use separate them through the truth separate for a holy use through the truth thy Word is truth let's let God's Word be true let's let God's Word be true he says verse 18 as thou has sent now here's where I want to go as thou hath sent me into the world even so have I also sent them into the world let's stop there for a moment all the different denominations the Protestants it's across the world today we all claim that God has sent us we all claim that God has sent us the Dalai Lama believes God sent him all kinds of people will tell you that God sent me and many of us come from one hood but when it comes back down to this one book we all claim God sent us yeah y'all all right this morning y'all just listening real good aren't you but when we come down to this book we have great disagreements we disagree about what it takes to be saved we disagree about what it takes to mein Satan after you're saved and some say that once you're saved you can't do anything you done say we disagree on a number of things can I tell you that if we are God's in God is not the author of confusion God is not the author of confusion now some people have got them a pastor they got amateurs yes why do you know that shirt I like my pastor oh I like my page just got a great person out oh I'm gonna talk about me now I just got a great personality in all this stuff you know I like this and I like that and some people determine whether a man is called to preach sometimes but how loud he gets when he preaches or how fast he can spit the words out when he's pretty and he's got it he says can I tell you the volume of a preacher and the rapid words that can come out of his mouth nor the other side of slow orator he said or - oh but he speaks he's a torrent you ought to hear the words some in words I try to learn but I try to pronounce them I get them all over my necktie after well I have to get wash them on that top truth the matter is you shouldn't you shouldn't discern whether a man is called to preach but how loud he is or how soft he is about how flowery is how he relates to you you need to determine if a man is priest is he preaching the original apostolic message because that's the one come on give God a hand of praise right now verse 18 Jesus is free as thou hath sent me into the world nobody would nobody would debate that Jesus wasn't sent from God as thou has sent me into the world even so have I also sent them apostles into the world and for their sakes I sanctify myself that they also might be sanctified through the truth he said I'm gonna leave them what sets them apart right now is me what makes the apostles special right now is me in their midst they're not healing the sick unless I give them power to heal the sick it isn't their sermons that's causing the multitudes to come it's my sermons it's causing the moment to the God he said so I'm about to separate myself from them but I'm not going to separate and leave them alone I'm going to leave them with the truth and for their sakes I said I sanctify or separate myself that they also might be sanctified through the truth you know what's gonna win Jesus left and ascending back into heaven and the Apostles went to Jerusalem with an open mind of the scripture and when the Holy Ghost fell on the day of Pentecost Peter stood up with the other apostles and Peter began to preach the death burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ and they said men and brethren what shall we do and Peter said you need to repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost not going to begin to happen that day because not 500 not 1000 not 1500 not 2,000 but 3,000 men and women stood up you say both Carmen I wish you wouldn't get wound up can I tell you how in the world can you help when you got fire shut up in and for their sakes I sanctify myself that they also might be sanctified through the truth that's the word now watch verse 20 Jesus says neither pray I for these alone but for them also which shall believe on me through their word you know while the Apostles are important because that's how people are going to believe upon Jesus it's through the word jesus said I'm not only I not only separate myself so that the word can separate the Apostles but I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to pray them to the future because there's going to be people that are going to believe before me after all this isn't that important can a man be saved without believing upon Jesus no so the man a woman cannot be saved without believing about Jesus is it not important that what the Apostles preached was the very roadway that you could believe upon him it doesn't stop there 2nd Peter chapter 3 and verse number 2 2nd Peter chapter 3 and verse number 2 look at these words now now we move into the epistles we move into the epistles the epistles were letters that someone said one time was an epistle on apostles wife no an epistle is not an Apostles wife an epistle was a letter written to saved people was written to people already in the church it was letters of instructions it was letters of admonition to them so years later second Peter this is this same Peter that preached on the day of Pentecost second Peter 3 and to that maybe mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior so years later they're telling those need to be mindful you need to be mindful of the words that you've heard from the Apostles you need to be mindful you need to remember and second Thessalonians chapter 1 verse number 7 Thessalonians is an interesting two books it's the church at Thessalonica and the church at Thessalonica had a cancer growing within it and the horrible cancer was the false doctrine false teaching that Jesus had already returned and if they had been lost out because Jesus had already returned so some of the teaching to the church at Thessalonica by the Apostle Paul was him killing them again because they were very much troubled about this we're very much trouble you could not be a serious Christian and believe and believe the rumor of the Lord had come and it not trouble you and so Paul writes in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 1 verse number 7 and to you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the law three of his power when he shall come to be glorified in his Saints and to be admired in all them that believe because our testimony among you was believed in that day see the connection here he says you've got one group that know not God and obey not the gospel of Jesus Christ he's coming back in flaming fire taking vengeance upon him I know it's old-fashioned I'm knowing so fashion yesterday and I guess I may be a little bit naive I'm probably a whole lot naive I may just be a little bit taken back but two wonderful young men came all the way from Arkansas yesterday brought all their recording equipment with them and and they set up to do an interview with me about the gospel and different things and the one young man that he started off by saying a river carpenter he said you recently preached a message that went viral on the internet and he said you preach the message called a place called hell and he said it said I wave throughout the movement he said can I can I ask you a question he said he said the reason I want to ask you is what inspired you to preach that message we don't hear messages like that anymore I said well I guess that's the reason God inspired me to preach it we need to hear message do this today I want to get you ready for college students today I want you to be as a matter of fact I believe that the workplace is yours for the taking I believe that the culture has so deadened the minds of Americans youth today that America's mind of youth their minds are so burned up on different things you are a prime and set and ready to take the workplace it's four years you can go as far as you want to go the workplace is looking for bright minded bright-eyed young men and young women that I'm preaching to today but I'm not going to preach 99% of my messages getting you ready for college I'm gonna preach getting you ready for heaven because what good is it for you to be ready for college come on there is a heaven to gain and there is a hell to shun there is a Judgment Day Sherman and you need to be ready for that day he's either coming back in flaming fire or he's coming back to my praise and worship he it's already a quarter to twelve Jesus Jesus that's somebody to this the five six hundred of you here today that's only two thank you I got fifty now in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God and that obey not the gospel of God verse 10 when he shall come to be glorified in his Saints and to be admired and to him and all them that believe oh I want to see him his look upon his face there to sing forever of his saving grace on the streets of glory you know why I'm going to be able to walk on streets of road do you know why I'm gonna be able to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus because our testimony was believed among you in that day we get our church structure we get our church order from the Apostles first Corinthians 12 28 and God has set some in the church first apostles we get our church order from apostles we get our church structure from apostles Ephesians 2 and 20 and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Cornerstone in whom all the building fitly fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the spirit we are on the datian you cannot separate the foundation from the building you cannot separate the foundation from the structure without doing irreparable damage to the structure we got several builders here today brother Perry brother hide by the Hopkins it is impossible to move a house off of its structure without and I know that some have been lifted off of a foundation and that's a whole sir that's a whole new sermon do you know when they lift a house off the foundation what they have to do before they lift it because some people have been lifted off of another foundation of which there is not another foundation but do you know I studied this when they move a house you know what the first thing they have to do they don't just come in and start jacking it up they come in and do a number of things they cut the power off first a lot of people get moved off their foundation because they get their Holy Ghost power cut off and the second thing they do is they get their water supply cut off they don't have any light and they don't have any water and then they cut off the sewer so everything is you'll stay in the house they cut the light out they cut the water out they cut the sewer out they totally disconnect that house before they jack it up can I tell you that you cannot take the church off of its foundation if you take it off this foundation it ceases to have its power if you take it off its foundation it ceases to have it's like we can't flush being out of the church we can't of seeing out of the chart unless we are connected to the founding it's all Ephesians 4:11 he gave some apostles some prophets some evangelists some pastors some teachers for the perfecting of the Saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God unto a perfect man unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ that we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness whereby they lie wait to deceive I'm gonna tell you there's a lot of wind's blowing but you better be on the Apostles doctrine there's a lot there's a lot of strange doctrines coming through the land but you better get your soul on the Apostles doctrine and you say why are you apostolic because he prayed all night long before he chose them why are you apostolic because he opened up their understanding that they might understand the scripture why are you calling because they spent three-and-a-half years around him why are you calling because that's the only one for sure we know and just before glory to God glory to God glory to God just before you're going to enter that city you have been raptured you find yourself looking at a city called New Jerusalem fifteen hundred miles wide fifteen hundred miles tall fifteen hundred miles long three days on the North three gates on the South three gates on the east and the west and you begin to make your way to that city I don't know which side you're going in on but I want you to look for something because it's there Revelation chapter 21 and verse number 14 and the wall of the city had twelve foundations and in them the names of the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb don't you downgrade the apostles because God says the only way you got here when you get ready to step into that north south east or west gate just before you walk through that gate I want you to look down at that foundation because you're going to either see Peter James John he's gonna see one of the names you say well brother Cartman Judas he hee hee his name's not gonna be that you're right his name not gonna be there he's gonna look down it's my opinion you're gonna see not Matthias Matthias is who they chose before they had the Holy Ghost Matthias was the man made 12 apostle but I believe in the one that the Lord had by the name of Saul that was going to be an apostle born out of due season I believe you're gonna look down and see Paul's name and just before you step inside that shittier you're gonna be reminded that somebody somebody thank you God thank you when the storm comes up standing when the flood comes up standing because I've been built on a rock I've been building a firm foundation hail couldn't stop it Caesar couldn't stop it Nero couldn't stop it the minute that the Dark Ages couldn't stop it this is a living oh my god I'm glad I'm in this church I'm glad I'm in this church now it's seven minutes to twelve I want to tell you what it took to get you in this church it took a tumble spirit but I also won't tell you what what it'll take to get you out of this church pride an humble spirit brought you in pride will take you out Satan stood back I can't divide the church I can't get a murmuring about the Grecian Hebrews I can't get a murmuring in the sixth chapter book of Acts I can't get them to implode from within I can't get it I can't get them I can't get them divided by their race I can't threaten them enough I can't beat them enough now I don't have any Bible for this thing you don't have to write this part down maybe Satan I can't divide him from within I can't threaten or Mikey they get threatened they get beat and they grow even more I kill them and they go to telling their story around and it emboldened the faith of the youth group and maybe this is the part I don't have any Bible for okay but maybe Satan thought well what brought me down I wonder if what brought me down and bring them down you know what brought him down pride brought him down pride running down Paul said and I end with this Paul said in Acts chapter 20 verse number 27 but I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the Church of God which he has purchased with his own blood for this I know for this for I know this that after my departing shall Grievous wolves enter in among you not sparing the flock also of your own selves shall men arise speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them brothers and sisters when we leave for the admin eight admiration of men and not the admiration of the message we're in trouble if you get listen if you're looking for a man to follow you're looking at the wrong man right here but if you're looking for a message to get you out of here get behind me did I tell you that's gonna be the last crib sure man did I say there's going to be the last scripture did I say it's gonna be like Scripture second Timothy four and one I charge thee I charge thee therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom preach the word be instant in season and out of season reprove rebuke exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine but after their own lusts shall he for themselves teachers having itching ears come on church don't don't go somewhere because they tell you what you want to hear he preached Oh you know I broke most of them I'm gonna go down the road where that man is not gonna talk about the blood he's not gonna talk about he's not gonna talk about faithfulness he's not gonna talk about all the things of God I like to go down there and hear in the poetry I'm not going down there I don't have to ever be condemned it service my way they have me in and out in 35 minutes I don't have to dress a certain way I don't have to sound doctor but after their own less shall hate for themselves teachers having itching ears man never scratch your ear if you'll come how much teach that Mister said right about to say I've got to teach them is sad all these different denominations we can't tell you how many gods here on all agree on it but we can all agree on one thing tie them that's right you better be aware of somebody that just wants to and don't want to preach to you the other 65 bucks out of the Bible they 65 more books in that Bible can be free I'm glad today I'm glad today not to be apostolic as a label to wear but
