if you have your Bibles and would join me in the Book of Numbers The Book of Numbers Chapter 14 and verse number six numbers chap 14 and verse number 6 God we want you to speak to us today and I can't get over the crowd that is here um on this less than favorable favorable Sunday morning thank you so much for your love and Devotion to the house of God we have a great multitude of those that are unable to get out and we greet you likewise as you're gathered around your computer watching this morning numbers 14 and 6 and Joshua the the son of nun and Caleb the son of shuna which were of them that searched the land rent their clothes and they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel saying the land which we pass through to search it is an exceeding good land if the Lord Delight in US then will he bring us into this land and give it us a land that floweth with milk and honey only Rebel not against the Lord neither fear ye the people of the land for they this is really what I'm going to preach on this morning for they they being the enemy for they are bread for us they are bread for us their defense has departed from them and the Lord Is With Us fear them not for a few moments to today I want to minister on this simple subject the battle for better the battle for better the purpose of prayer before the preaching is twofold this man standing in front of you today I don't need the anointing of God I must have the anointing of God the second reason is for you to pray for your ears to open because God wants to speak to you this morning so those two things could we lift our hands and could we pray oh god of Heaven I come before you today God you know that I'm a mortal man and I am filled with many limitations God you know Lord that I'm filled with much limitations but God today if you'll come down and anoint with your spirit if you will light up my head and cause me oh God to be able to minister your word today Lord you will speak to us Lord God if you will anoint your servant I am nothing God and you are everything Lord God you you have used many things throughout the Bible to speak to your people God you've used burning bushes and you've used you have used animals God so I am nothing oh Lord but would you use me today would you anoint my heart my mind Lord would you help me God to articulate and enunciate God the words that need to be spoken this morning and Lord touch the ears of the people speak to us today in jesus' name we all pray amen and amen you may be seated the battle for the battle for better you know that's the one word we can attach to salvation is better because when you're born again and you get in the disciple you get in the U the process of discipleship God is going to make you a better person as a matter of fact God has never entered into any situation and it be worse any situation that's been given to God when God walks away way it's always a better situation as a matter of fact the book of Hebrews tells us on many many verses Hebrews chap 1 verse4 says being made so much better than the Angels speaking of Jesus Christ being made so much better than the Angels the man Christ Jesus was made so much better than the Angels why Angels were made to be a messenger messenger Jesus Christ the man was made to be the sacrifice for our sins he was a better made better than the Angels Hebrews 7: 19 for the law made nothing better made nothing perfect excuse me the law made nothing perfect that word there is mature for the law made nothing perfect or mature but the bringing in of a what kind of hope better hope that's the gospel Hebrews 7:22 by so much was Jesus made a shity of a better Testament Hebrews 11:40 God have having provided some better things for us Hebrews 12:24 and to Jesus the mediator of a of a of the New Covenant and of the sprinkling of the blood of sprinkling that speaketh here it is better things than that of a so all through the Bible when it comes to Salvation when it comes to Jesus Christ the word better is attached to it because he's made a better people out of us as a matter of fact he not only started with the New Testament Church he started with his own children the children of Israel when he brought them out of 300 435 years of Egyptian bondage and he brought brought them to a land as a matter of fact as a matter of fact when God met Moses at the burning bush long before Israel and Pharaoh submitted to Moses word God told Moses at the burning bush you tell my people I'm bringing them out of Egypt to a good land I'm bringing them to something better than what they're in how many's thankful today that God has brought us to something better than what we were in I'm so thankful for that today so thankful begin to tell them I'm going to bring you to a better land but you see it has a lot to do not only with the promise of God but church what do you have to say about the promise of God because what you say what you Proclaim what you talk about is a manifestation of your faith in the promise the promise of God are sure but God in order for it to be activated God wants to hear what you have to say about his promise now he brought him out of Egypt just like he promised he let them out and he brings them in a few short days he brings them to the border of Canaan in a few short days through the Red Sea and on over in a few short days a matter of weeks he brings them to the border of the promised land Canan and there God says Moses I want you to choose out men and I want you to send them into the land that I have given them into the land that I have given them I want them to go search the land and they did but something happened there was 10 of those 12 Spies that came back and they gave an evil report about the land they came back 10 of them came back and they gave a negative evil report about the land which was the manifestation of their faith of saying God may have been able to bring us out of Egypt but God isn't able to take us in to the promised land now as I kind of end this Bible Lesson sermon message today go back and forth if God is able to save us from sin and save us in our sin God is able to redeem us and let us walk in his delivering power God is able but 10 of them come back 10 of them come back matter of fact numbers chap 13 verse 27 let's listen to them as they they they spot out the land for 40 days and they came back numbers 13 27 and they told him and said we came into unto the land which thou sentest us and surely it floweth with milk and honey and this is the fruit of it milk means there's a lot of herds there there's a lot of livestock there honey means there's a lot of bees there bees mean there's a lot of foliage there it's not a desert it's w well it is it is it it has a lot of of trees it's green it has a lot of rain and so when it said it's a it's a land that it's a land that just it just doesn't have milk and honey he put the word floweth which means abundance there's a there's an abundance of milk and honey and then they had a cluster of grapes that They carried on two poles and they said this is the fruit thereof but look at verse 28 nevertheless or you know what that word of Doubt is there that word of Doubt is don't even think about it nevertheless I know it flows with milk and honey I know God said we could have it I know this is the fruit thereof but don't even get your mind on it today nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land and the cities are walled and very great moreover we saw the children of anch there that's that's Giants the Amal cites dwell in the land of the South the Hittites and the jebusites and the amorites dwell in the mountains and the Canaanites dwell by the Sea and by the coast of Jordan and Caleb stealed the people before Moses and said let us go up at once and possess it for we are well able to overcome it but the men that went up with him said we be not able to go up against the people for they are stronger than we and they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel saying the land through which we have gone to search it is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof now wait a minute stop right there and think with me for a moment you see when you choose to walk in unbelief the spirit of exaggeration takes over now which is it Church is it a land that flows with milk and honey is it a land is is a land of abundance is it a land that produces fruit or is it a land is it a land that the very nature of the land causes it to consume the people which is it it's the land flowing with milk and honey but if you don't believe the god the promises of God's word you'll operate in the spirit of exaggeration and your problem will go from bad to worse and it will continue to go on and on and on that I can't come out of this so they begin to give an evil report it eateth up the inhabitance thereof and all the people man what get look at this and are you seeing this with me church and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature wait a minute he named several people at the beginning and then he says oh yes and among the jebusites and the amorites and the Canaanites oh yes we saw the children of anch there that's a whole different group The the children of anoch are are giants but now when the spirit of exaggeration comes in guess what we have here and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature in other words they're all giant no they're not all Giants they're not all giants look at verse 33 and there we saw the Giants the sons of anoch which come of the Giants here it is and we were in our own sight as Grasshoppers and so were we in theirs now here we have it these 10 men that lack the faith to possess the promise that God had given God didn't say I might give you the land God didn't say it might happen to you God God said I have already given it to you now just go into the land and give go into the land go into the land and give a report well let me sh share with you for a moment a little bit about the land Deuteronomy 11 verse number 10 to help you see what Joshua and Caleb saw Deuteronomy 11 verse number 10 here's the land for the land whether thou goest in to possess it is not as the land of Egypt from when you came out where you sowed thy seed and watered it with your foot as the garden of herbs but the land whether you go to possess it is a land of Hills and Valleys what sounds like East Tennessee it's a land of Hills and Valleys and drinketh water of the rain of Heaven a land which the Lord thy God carth for the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it from the beginning of the year even to the end of it now Egypt number one Egypt had to have an irrigation system now we've got all the slaves carrying rocks to build the pyramids but all the slaves all the Israelites were not employed to build the to build the pyramids No many of thems thousands of them worked in the Water Irrigation because Egypt was not a land that received a lot of natural water it was not a land that received a lot of water that would come as a matter of fact its water source was the N River and the only way that they could plant crops the only way that they could water their Gardens was through an irrigation system that worked by the slaves the Israelites pumping water by foot out of the Nile River it was a pump system and there was hundreds of them and they would pump with their feet and that that pumping with their feet would cause a suction and that suction would water that would would pull the water out and water all he said the land that I'm going to give you you're not going to have to have that irrigation system the land that I give you is going to be a better land than what you have than what you have now it's going to be it's going to be a better land now when they gave the evil report Joshua and Caleb whom I'll show you in just a moment the Bible says they had another spirit and they holy followed the Lord now that's not holy h o l y That's holy w h o l l y he said they holy they fully now I'm going to tell you something this word doesn't work until you're all in it doesn't work till you're all in can I get an amen this doesn't work until you're all in God may be merciful with you and God may have answered prayers for you according to his Mercy but there's so much more of life and life more abundantly that God wants to give you but you got to have two things you've got to have another spirit and you've got to Holy follow God you can't visit God on Sunday you can't visit God in the mid week he's got to be 7:24 he's got to be a God that's your God every day of the week you've got to fully follow him oh thank the Lord Joshua and Caleb stood up and Joshua and Caleb tried to calm the people because of negative report it rippled throughout all of Israel and they begin to weep and they begin to cry have you brought us out here in the desert for us to die Moses and they went on and on well look at look at Numbers Chapter 14 and verse 9 with me he says he says these words to them I read it in my text Joshua and Caleb said don't rebel against the Lord neither fear the people of the land for they are bread for us in other words God has put something in your life now God either God either puts things in your life or God allows things to come to your life but when God puts something in your life or allows it to be in your life it is to make you stronger God has never allowed nor put anything in any of our Lives to destroy us he's not that kind of God he is not that kind of God you say brother car you don't know the obstacles I've got in my life can I I tell you if you can see the obstacle is bread we're going to be stronger when through the help of God through the help of God it's not I might get through this I am going to get through this by the help of God it's not maybe when I come out I am coming out by the help of God yay though I walk through the walk through walk through walk through yay though I walk through not stay in yay though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil why I'm walking through this this is only a season in my life this is just a period in my life I'm not going to die here I'm not going to give up here can I get a witness in this house today the battle for better the battle for better and here it is numbers 14:24 God says but my servant Caleb because he ha another Spirit another spirit with him and hath full hath followed me fully him will I bring into the land whether he went and his seed shall possess it God said he's got another Spirit that's why we're here today I want to get refilled with the Holy Spirit today I want to get refilled with the Holy Ghost today call it what you call it what you will today say what you want we put our phone on a recharger every night I wonder what would happen to you and I today what that problem would look like that's not an obstacle that's an opportunity that's not an obstacle oh my goodness brother Carpenter what's happened to me you just don't realize the obstacle that's in the way that's not an obstacle that's an opportunity that's an opportunity to show your faith in God that's not an obstacle it's an opportunity there I'm going to show that I cannot only walk with God I'm going to tell God I'm not I can only serve you when everything is going good but but God I love you so much that I believe the darkness of the night has a purpose in my life and that's going to be bread oh would you give God a great hand of Praise it's going to be bread for me oh it went from bad to worse here because in numbers 14 and 10 the people got control in numbers 14 And1 this is what happens sometimes with unbelief and people but all the congregation bade Stone them with stones and the glory of the Lord appeared in the Tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel they got to stand there you got Joshua and Caleb said we can go in it's an opportunity not an obstacle we can take it where well able to take it they'll be breed we'll grow stronger as we fight and another inconsistency here another inconsistency see if you see this with me the doubter said they are stronger than us how you know did you fight any of them stop making up your mind by what you see and not what you have fought if you will fight with prayer and fasting and Bible reading what you see I promise you it will fall before your eyes it will not be an obstacle it will be an opportunity how you know how you know they're stronger you didn't fight any of them well I just saw them as a matter of fact you saw a lot of things didn't you as a matter of fact you saw yourself as a grasshopper and because you saw yourself as a grasshopper that's how people around you saw yourself um pardon for the personal reference today how you see yourself is how others see you you see yourself as defeated people see you as defeated you see yourself as more than a conqueror people said hey I tell you what I know what that girl's going through I think I'd like to have a little bit of what she's got I know what she's going through but she seems to keep on living and smiling and loving sorry for the personal reference today but over 44 years ago when I got in the ministry and I I I felt God was having me to evangelize um Karen and donetta Don and one the prophet's children and grandchildren go here maybe even great-grandchildren but at the time Don and Juan had a photog phography business and uh Brother Don Propet help helped me with a card I had a little church card and that church card somebody gave it me an old one it was um what what was my slogan brother Nolan you said it the other day I'm a young man with an old message that was my slogan across my card you know back in those days you had your picture took and back in those days you had to look mean when you took it remember that you know I had my Bible out you know that stoic look of heavenly Dove you know and when I'd get around preachers and I wasn't staying busy at all in those early days evangelizing I wasn't staying busy at all as a matter of fact I claim to be a full-time evangelist brother Elijah but my side job which took up a lot of time was that I I eak out a small living Elmer Bryant showed me how to go buy big stuffed animals and I would feel my little uh Pinto automobile up with these stuffed animals that I'd pay like $5 for and I'd go out to Green Acres flea market it burned down here a few months ago and on Saturday you know where you could find me at I was at Green Acres flea market I had my my Barneys and everything else around the hood of that car and I was I was selling and U things just wasn't opening up and you know if if if if preachers called me and thought about having me I would start off with some well hey I ain't nobody and and I ain't really good I'm not I I tell them I'm really not a good preacher I've only preached a few times and and if you're expecting brother M you ain't gonna get brother M here and I I'm just this and I'm just that and Don Prophet told me one day he said you need to stop saying that he said if I was a pastor I wouldn't have you either I said what he said the way you present yourself he said you're like you you're you're like somebody begging he said are you a man of God I said yes sir he you preach the truth I said yes sir he said when you get a call you tell them you're a man of God that preaches the truth and we'll have Revival if you'll let me come and I changed the way that I looked at myself and Buddy my phone started ringing off a hook and preachers why because they saw me in a different light I was a man of God I was going to bring Revival to their church if we get down and pray pray and seek the face of God if you see yourself as a loser today you have no hope but if you see yourself as a born again child of the most high God the god that's in control of everything Washington's not in control God is in control you're not just a citizen of the United States of America you're a son and the daughter of the most high God and you ought to get on your feet and Shout I'm a a child of God I'm a Child of God I'm a child of the most high God I'm a child of the god that made Heaven and Earth hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah but all Israel verse 10 said kill them Stone them can I tell you something be very careful and watchful and cautious getting critical of faith and critical of worship and critical of the ways of God if God I want you to hear this statement if God can't help you you can't be helped and let me make this other statement the house of God is your last thing standing between you and the Flames of hell can I tell you today the house of God is where I need to be I don't care how many Hypocrites go to church I've often said it I'd rather go to church with a few Hypocrites than to go to hell with all of them and and and if I let a hypocrite cause me not to serve God if I let a hypocrite come between me and God I Testify the Hypocrites closer to God than I am the church may have her flaws the church May have its faults but it's still the greatest body of people that you could ever be associated with the Church of the Living God I'm glad to be here this morning I'm glad to have my family here this morning I'm glad that my grandchild are in Sunday school today the house of God but here they said we're going to kill Moses and we're going to kill we're going to kill Caleb and Joshua now um Moses God showed up and just for time's sake because I'm a little a little behind on where I want to be today with the clock but God showed up glory of God began to puff down at the Tabernacle God said Moses get in here and the people saw the cloud puffing they said oh God has showed up Moses went into the Tabernacle and God said Moses you go back out there and you tell them people you tell them that they'll never see the promised land that they're going to wander in the wilderness for 40 years as a matter of fact the only people going to see the promised land are those here today that are under the age of 20 years old those are the only ones that are going to see it th those are the one only the ones that are under 20 years of age is going is going to see is going to see the promised land and he said you go ahead and tell them their carcasses is going to fall in the wilderness they're going to they they're I'm going to give them one year for every day they they went to the uh Promised Land I'm I'm I'm going to give them one year they're going to wander in the wilderness for 40 years and um they're they're going they're going to uh their carcass is going to die there in the wilderness now um you know nature is an interesting thing the human Spirit the human nature the adamic nature the adamic nature is an interesting thing for example for example you walk by a doorf frame brother Perry and the doorf frame says don't touch wet paint what do you want to do human nature we have the old adamic nature that we want to do we want to do what we're told not to do all right we want to do it we it wouldn't enter our mind it wouldn't even enter our mind to touch that door frame bless God it wouldn't even enter our mind to touch that door frame until there's a little sticky note on it that said wet paint then now look are y'all still with me today here's these same people that went over 10 of them went over and said Giants walled cities we're grasshoppers in their sight here they are saying we can't go in Moses comes out and says you're right you're going to die in this Wilderness you're going to you're going to you're going to die you're going to die right here you're going to die in this wilderness right here um well let me let's let the Bible tell you what they did Moses said you ain't going in wet paint you're not going in numbers 14:39 Moses told these say unto all the children of Israel and the people mourned greatly and they rose up early in the morning and get them up into the top of the mountain saying Lo we be here and we will go up into the place which the Lord God had which the Lord had promised for we have sinned now I have in my Bible written that that wet paint wet paint you're not I don't want to go in until the saying goes you can't go in and then when they said they can't go in they said we're going to go in we're going up we know that we have sinned well if you sinned where is your repentance let me follow on and Moses said wherefore now do you trespass the Commandment of the Lord but it shall not Prosper go not up for the Lord is not among you that that you be not smitten before your enemies for the amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you and you shall fall by the sword because you have turned away from the Lord therefore the Lord will not be with you but they presumed to go up until the hilltop nevertheless the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord and Moses departed not out of the camp isn't that amazing wouldn't think about going in until you were told no it's our human nature it's our human nature but now that we're told no now we want to go in but you're going in without the right Spirit you're going in without the right Spirit oh I don't want my carcass to fall in the wilderness oh I don't want to die in the I understand that but you'll never serve God longer than a month out of fear of dying you'll never serve God more than a few weeks just because you don't want judgment to fall the only way you'll serve God year in and year out is when you get a love for God and you understand that every day is a little bit better and every week is a little bit better and every month is a little bit better folks it is a battle but the battle is worth it for the better and see how they acted now Moses said I'm not going neither is the Ark of the Covenant verse 45 verse 45 they go on their own then the amalekites came down and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill and smoke them and smoked them and disc confited them even unto horma in other words they lost the battle there they lost the battle you know why the Lord wasn't with them they were only they were only moving forward out of guilt and out of Shame and the Lord was not among them and verse 45 somebody help me that's following in if you're following in your Bible with me today if you're following in your Bible with me today is verse 45 the last verse I I know the answer to this I'm setting this up is verse 45 the last verse it ends with a bunch of them dying right a bunch of them Dying God said your car is going to fall in the wilderness I have already pronounced death on you now let me tell you something about my God today Mark 12:27 says he is not the god of the Dead but of the but the god of the living wherefore do you greatly he Luke 245 4 and5 and it came to pass as there was a as they were much perplexed there about behold two men they're at the Tomb of Jesus behold two men stood by them in shining garments and as they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the Earth they said unto them listen to the angel why seek ye the living among the dead it's already dead your carcass is going to wander 40 years you're going to die there's already men on the hill that are dead because they didn't believe that's the last verse in chapter 14 look at the first verse in chapter 15 God works very quickly the last verse in chapter 14 is death the first verse in chapter 15 is this and the Lord spake unto Moses saying Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them when ye be come into the land of your habitation which I give you and will make an offering by fire unto the Lord a burnt offering or a sacrifice in performing a vow or in a free will offering or in a solemn Feast to make a sweet savior unto the Lord of the herd or of the flock look at verse number 17 of chapter 15 and the Lord spake unto Moses saying Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them when you be come into the land whether I bring you then it shall be what is your point brother Carpenter my point is that our God today isn't concerned over your dead things he's concerned about life too many of us are living in our past regret over things we've done can I tell you brothers and sisters if we have been water baptized in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ it wasn't as a profession of your faith to join a local church when you were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ according to scripture it is for the remission of every sin that you've ever committed now don't be foolish I have the memory of things I did before water baptism I still remember some of the immoral Deeds I did before I was baptized and hey don't look at me all Sanctified today you remember yours too but the difference is before I got baptized I not only had the memory but I had the guilt and the shame and the remorse that went along with it but after I got baptized in Jesus name I might have the memory but I don't have the guilt and I don't don't have the shame and I don't have the remorse anymore because he washed away my sins are you glad for that today he washed away my sin been baptized in his name filled with the Holy Ghost now because I wear the name of Jesus If any man sin we have an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the righteous if we confess our sins he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness God today is not concerned with the dead things of your life God went very quickly did he not he went very quickly you're going to wander 40 years he bypassed 40 years and said I'm not going to talk about carcasses anymore I'm not going to talk about unbelief anymore I'm going to go ahead and speak to the generation 20 years and under and I'm going to tell you you're coming into the land and this is how you worship I wonder today how many in this congregation which spiritually become of the age of 20 years and under and say you know what the past is the past I need to know how to operate in the future how do I worship my God how do I please my God and how do I love my God it's a battle let me go very quickly very quickly David and Goliath faced the same thing the men of Israel Saul and all the men of Israel saw the giant the giant of the Philistines the giant with his helmet of brass the giant covered in metal the giant who was the champion The Undefeated champion of the Philistines they all see the champion The Undefeated champion of the Philistines they all see the walled cities they all see uh they see themselves as a grasshopper before the giant but God had Anointed God already had his eye on a little boy that was watching pregnant sheep and making sure they didn't roll over on their side God had his eye on a little boy when nobody was watching listen to this now because I I believe this will bless you real good it is what you do when nobody is watching that what God sees God sees you when nobody is watching that's why you need to give God something in your private time Church shouldn't be the only place that you raise your hands Church shouldn't be the only place that you utter a Prayer church shouldn't be the only place that you open your Bible you need to open your Bible at 5:30 in the morning when there's nobody watching but I'll tell you who's watching God Is Watching God hears your prayer give him something God God had a little boy God had a little boy that when nobody was watching he was given the job of making sure pregnant sheep didn't lay on their sides too long nobody saw David out in the barn nobody was there in the we hours of the morning when David played his flute and worshiped his God nobody nobody was there to tell David kill the Bear kill the lion nobody was there David did it on his own Integrity now listen to this now it is what you do when nobody is looking that God say SE it is what you do when man is looking that what God can use God can't use you when people are looking if God hasn't first seen you when nobody's looking hey Church David didn't get God's attention when he stepped out and said you ain't you ain't a champion you don't even have a name you are an uncircumcised Philistine you don't have a covenant with God I don't care how big your helmet is I don't care how much brass you got I don't care how much battles You've Won you're nothing but an uncircumcised Philistine and I come to you in the name of the Lord God and all the people said whoa you know what elevated David he did what he did alone and God saw it but he also did in front of the people and it caused the people to say there's something about that boy there he went and fought a giant with a slingshot there's something about listen we're all leaders we're all leaders pastors are not the only leaders in this room today me and brother Eric and brother Hamond brother Carpenter Nolan Carpenter we're not the only leaders every father in this room is a leader today every mother in this room is a leader today every saint of God in this room is a leader you hear me I know it's a little quiet right now but you are a leader today and it's not necessarily you got to have a time that God only sees you but You' got to have a time that your children look down and your children know Daddy's went to church daddy's not been feeling very well Dad's not been feeling very well and Daddy went on to the house of God mom's not been feeling very well but Mom has went on to the house of God can I tell you it's what we do in public that causes our children to say I'm going to buy into that I'm going to follow that today I watched it was two people that caught my eye it was two people that caught my eye today when the choir was singing Masano caught my eye a woman that was not raised with anywhere near the spiritual opport opportunities to know truth that we were that we have been blessed to know a woman who was raised by a father in Japan that when an American missionary came and handed her father a Bible her father took that Bible and threw it in the waste can but that young girl mosino went and got that Bible out of that garbage can and began to read a prayer that said Our Father Who Art in Heaven and she said he must be a father roll the clock a few decades she enrolls her children in the apostolic Christian Academy Daycare she enrolls her children there God presents more cruit to her and she comes to know who Jesus is but there's two people that caught my eye I caught immediately I saw her worshiping but I looked up in the choir and I saw calling her son up in the choir magnifying God you know why that
