Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The God of the party
- He reads Acts chapter 2 at the stand — the day of Pentecost fully come, the rushing mighty wind, the cloven tongues like as of fire — prays over the word, and announces his subject: the God of the party.
- In his survey of the feasts of the year, he argues that holiness was never meant to be misery: God built parties into the calendar of his people, and joy belongs to the religion of the Bible.
Scriptures: Acts 2:1-4
The feast of weeks
- Leviticus 23 is read from verse 15: count fifty days, offer the new meat offering of two wave loaves, and leave the corners of the harvest for the poor and the stranger.
- Deuteronomy 16 is read from verse 9: keep the feast of weeks with the tribute of a freewill offering, and rejoice before the Lord — thou and thy son and thy daughter, the Levite and the stranger — remembering that thou wast a bondman in Egypt.
- God does not do his best work in our past tense: the rejoicing he commands is present tense, and a Pentecost received decades ago is not the Pentecost he wants to give today.
Scriptures: Leviticus 23:15-22; Deuteronomy 16:9-12
Two mountains
- Exodus 19:1 is read: in the third month out of Egypt, Israel comes to the wilderness of Sinai — counting and a mountain stand behind Pentecost as surely as behind Sinai.
- Galatians 4 is read from verse 22 as an allegory: Hagar is mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage; but Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
- Exodus 19:9 and 19:18 are read: the thick cloud, and mount Sinai altogether on a smoke, quaking greatly — at Pentecost the fire comes without the smoke, and God comes close enough to sit on each of them.
Scriptures: Exodus 19:1; Galatians 4:22-26; Exodus 19:9; Exodus 19:18
A better future
- Exodus 28 is read from verse 2: while Moses is on the mountain, God is already designing holy garments for Aaron, for glory and for beauty — directions for a better future.
- Acts chapter 2 is read again from verse 14: Peter, standing up with the eleven — this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. The future God promised is a future for your children.
- Exodus 32 is read from verse 1 against it: at that very hour Aaron is below, gathering gold for a calf. God knew what Aaron was doing and commissioned the priesthood anyway — while we are out making immature, sinful decisions, God is still saying, I have a Pentecost for you.
Scriptures: Exodus 28:2-3; Acts 2:14-18; Exodus 32:1-2
What meaneth this?
- Acts chapter 2, verses 12 and 13, are read with the church: they were all amazed, asking what this means, while others mocked, saying these men are full of new wine — and the mockers were not shut out of the offer that followed.
- The father kept the robe cleaned, the ring shined and the calf fattening while his son was still wasting his substance: the God of the party prepares for people who may never come home, and there is hope for everybody.

Have your Bibles and would join me today. The book of Acts, chapter 2, verse number one. The book of Acts, chapter 2, verse number one. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. There appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it set upon each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance. Let's pray over the word that we've heard right now. Father, as seed drops into the ground, your word is dropped into our hearing today. Lord, from the pages of your book into our ears and into our heart, God, we receive the powerful lifechanging word today. Now, Father, I pray that you would anoint it and water it today. Lord, you would water the word that has been swed today. That faith would erupt out of our hearts. We would hide thy word in our hearts today. Anoint the messenger today, God. Anoint my ears. Anoint my heart. Anoint my mind, Lord. anoint these people today in Jesus' name we all pray. Amen. And amen. You may be seated this morning. Thank you for standing. I want to preach for a few moments today or probably more I would probably be more correct to say I want to teach. I want to teach today. But I want to teach today maybe a little preaching. I guess they would call that preaching, wouldn't they? I want to preach today or teach today on the God of the party. The God of the party. Now, quite honestly, we very seldom hear those two words put together. We very seldom hear the word God and party put together because party seems to uh party seems to have a little bit of a of a just a a a worldly uh tone to it. Party party. But when you really dive into the Bible and you you begin to look in the Old Testament, you find that God himself commanded for there to be seven major on the calendar, the Jewish calendar, on the Jewish calendar, seven major feast days. Well, you say, "Well, that's that's a feast." Well, in the Old Testament, as words have changed in the word test, in the Old Testament, when you would mention the word feast, party came to mind, it was the Jewish, it was the Jewish, it was the Jewish party. Now, we understand that a party is to celebrate and remember. It's it's to celebrate something and and also to to remember something. We we're going to celebrate. We've got a a party that we're going to celebrate. Uh some may have a a a retirement party, right? A retirement party. And and uh that retirement party uh the the person has fulfilled a set number of years and they're retiring from that from that job. So they'll have a retirement party for them. But also in the midst of in the midst of the retirement party, there will be some remembering. You'll not only celebrate, you'll not only celebrate, but in the midst of celebration, there will be a remembrance of something. You'll remember when you the first day on your job, I was talking to sister uh Judy Wilson this morning and her son-in-law uh and daughter pastor up in Illinois and u I preached for them there at their church. It's uh he actually the son-in-law actually took his father's church that was there. And uh when I when I preached for them and from the church uh to the little town there uh they would we would pass by the factory where brother McGee's father worked at and retired from. And every time that week that we would drive by that factory, uh, Elder Brother McGee would tell us would tell me, "That's where I retired from. That's how many years I worked there." And every time he passed by there, there was a remembrance. And and uh and in the midst of the celebration, in the midst of remembering retirement, there was a there was a celebration. There was a celebration. C can I tell you that it is God's will for us to have joy and it is God's will for us to smile. It it is God's will for us to be happy. Now the problem is the problem is uh we've often and we've preached it I' I've preached it before you know people say I want to be happy. Well God wants you to be holy and I understand what we are saying but can I tell you being holy will make you happy. Let me say it again. Being holy will make you happy. Being holy will put a smile on your face. Being holy will put a spirit of joy and contentment in your heart. So, so follow me just a little bit today. Follow me just a little bit because I believe that in order to experience Pentecost, in order to experience what this day is all about, we we have to understand what is Pentecost. What is Pentecost? It goes deeper than just the 50 days. It it goes deeper deeper than that. So what is Pentecost and then why is Pentecost? I believe that if we can discover what Pentecost is, we can then discover why we need to have Pentecost in our life. Now Pentecost was one of the seven parties or seven feast days that God commanded. God evidently evidently church he is a god of a party. God loves to throw God loves to throw a party. And so here in Israel he gave seven parties or seven feast. Uh one feast is Passover. The other feast is the feast of unleaven bread, the feast of first fruits. And I could put I'm saying feast but I do no harm to the word of God, brother Nolan, if I would use the word party. It could be the party Passover. It could be the party of unleavened bread or the party of first fruits or the party of weeks or the party of trumpets or the party of atonement or the party of tabernacle. Now, just just real briefly today, just real briefly today, he said, "I want you to throw a party and I want you to celebrate the Passover. I want you to celebrate. I want you to remember and I want you to celebrate how I brought you out of Egypt. I want you to have a party about about having unleavened bread or should I say not having unleavened bread in your home. And I want I want you I there there was to be no leaven found in your homes. The party of the first fruit, the party of weeks, which we'll we'll talk about. But all seven parties, isn't this wonderful? All seven parties in the Old Testament, all seven feast days in the New in the Old Testament, Jesus Christ identified with all seven of those feasts. It's as if in the Old Testament, he's trying to say, "Feast of Passover, hint. Feast of unleaven bread, hint. Feast of weeks, feast of trumpets, hint." In other words, he's trying to hint and tell you, I'm going to come and fulfill that. And so Jesus fulfilled all seven feasts. Jesus Christ at the feast or the party of Passover. There was the death of a lamb. Was not Jesus Christ, behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. In the feast of the unleavened bread, he identified in the feast of first fruits, the feast of weeks, the feast of trumpets, the feast of atonement, the feast of tabernacle. He in this in this feast of tabernacle they were they were told to create booths or or tents and they were to move out of their dwellings. They were to move out of their dwellings and dwell in these booths or tents. And there they were to remember how they came out of Egypt. But he identified he identified with this when he said, "And the word became flesh because the word is forever settled in heaven." So before the word ever put on flesh, the word was in the mind of God. But the word moved from heaven and moved into a virgin girl. And the Bible said, "And the word became flesh and dwelt among us." So all of these today, all of these feasts today, Jesus Christ represents. And again, I'm just going to tell you, I don't believe that you will ever experience the true meaning of Pentecost until you understand what Pentecost is and why you need a Pentecost. So now, let's go to the book of Leviticus, chapter 23, verse number 15. Because here is where he begins to give instructions about the feast of weeks. And you'll find out in a moment why it's called weeks and why we call it Pentecost. Verse number 15, God said, "And you shall count unto you from the tomorrow after the Sabbath," everybody say count. From the day that ye brought the sheath of the wave offering, seven Sabbaths shall be completed. Even unto the tomorrow, after the seventh Sabbath, you shall number 50 days, and ye shall offer a new meat or a meal offering unto the Lord. Ye shall bring out of your habitation two way loaves of two tent deals. They shall be a fine flour. They shall be bacon with leavenan. They are the first fruits unto the Lord. Ye shall offer with the bread of seven lambs without blemish of the first year, one young bullet, two rams. They shall be for a burnt offering unto the Lord with their meat offering and their drink offering, and the offering made by fire of a sweet savor unto the Lord. Then you shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering. Everybody say sin. There's an offering for sin offering and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice and a peace offering. Please notice the order there. Please notice the order. You first offer a sacrifice for sin and then you offer a sacrifice for peace. Why does peace come after sin? Because you can never have the peace of God in your life as long as you've not dealt with sin. Sin first, peace second. Verse 20. And the priests shall wave with them the bread of first fruits for a wave offering before the Lord with two lambs. They shall be holy to the Lord. They shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. Ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day that it may be a holy convocation unto you. That means a day off. Ye shall do no survile work. That's a day off. Therein it shall be a statue forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. Welcome to the party. We've got a day off here. He proclaims a day off. But here here goes a little something he adds to it. And when you reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean radius of the corners of the field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleanings of thy harvest. Thou shalt leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am the Lord your God. He said this feast called weeks or the feast of Pentecost. You start counting after the feast. You count seven Sabbaths that's 49. And then you add a day that is 50. And then he begin to tell them everything that they were to offer to God. seven lambs and rams. And the priest had certain loaves of bread in both hands that he waved before the Lord. And then he said, "This is the party. You're you're you're to do no survile work on this on this 50th day. There's to be no survival work. There's there's to be there's to be rest upon this day." And then as if to tell you that this day is not just personal, this day is universal. He mentions the reaping of their fields. He said, "You are not to go into the corners of your field. Do do not I know that you're that that you're reaping around, but he said, I want you to leave the four corners of your field unh harvested." And then a matter of fact, as you go through the field and you you reap the harvest, I don't want you going back with a rake and raking it up. I I want you to leave that because on this day of Pentecost, I want the poor to be remembered. Can I get a witness today? On this day of Pentecost, I want the poor to understand that there's the fields of the people of God. There's the fields when when the world is empty of food. When the world is a burnover field and there's nothing there, some sinner could say to another sinner, "Say, I hear that there's always something to eat in the field of the Israelites." He said, "I not only want it for the poor and then I want it I want it to the stranger. I want it I want it to be the for the stranger." You you you see today Pentecost is Pentecost is not just something exclusively for your family. I've heard people say they they'll talk about well that's a family church. And I understand what they're saying. There's there's a lot of families that are connected. But in reality of it all, we are all a part of the greatest family and that is the family of God. I may not have your last name. I may not have your blood DNA. I may not be any kin to you. But because of the new birth that is in Jesus Christ, we're all a part of this family. Why don't you give God a praise right now? The God of the party. Now in Deuteronomy chapter 16 verse number nine, he continues. The God of the party continues to give instructions. Seven weeks shalt thou number. Sounds familiar unto thee. Begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginest to put the sickle to the corn. Verse 10, thou shalt keep the feast, the party of weeks unto the Lord thy God, with a tribute of a free will offering in thine hand. Can I tell you something about Pentecost? It is not a got to experience. It's a get to experience. Come on. It's not a got to. I got to. You got to got to got to. This is not a got to. When you really experience Pentecost in the freedom of Pentecost and the spirit of Pentecost, you'll find out it is a get to experience. Matter of fact, you'll look around at the blessings of God from Pentecost and you'll say, "God, you've been better to me." Come on now. You've been better to me, God, than I really deserve. God, I I don't deserve what you have done. the tribute of a free will offering in thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the Lord thy God, according as the Lord thy God had blessed thee. Verse 11, and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God. And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God. Can I tell you today that if you live in your past, you have no joy. If you live in your past, if you live in the hurt of your past, if you live if if you live in the mistakes of your past, and oh Lord, I I don't want to get off this because I really want to get to some parts here today. But I tell you something, if you live in your past, I will tell you what's on your mailbox. No joy. No joy. When you live in something that you have no control over, your mailbox says no joy, no smile. You don't know when's the last time you laugh. You don't even know when's the last time you just you you just had a rejoicing spirit. Come on, somebody. When's the last time you just got a song on your heart? You went through the house singing a song on your heart? felt them chill bumps so big you could hang a coat hanger on. Huh? I I mean, you just went through your house. But you dwell in your past. You dwell in what you've done wrong or what somebody's wrong you. And I'm going to tell you, when I walk up to your house, I read on the mailbox, no joy. Interesting scripture. Lord, help me to get back to my notes, Jesus. But the Bible says when Moses was come to years, he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter. In the book of Exodus, it says, "And when Moses was grown, he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter." Meaning that he came to a moment. He came to a moment of maturity. He came to a moment of maturity and he said, "I am not an Egyptian. I am the son of a Hebrew woman. I am a Hebrew. I am not you." Which means now now follow this. Which means he came to a moment of maturity and he said I'm not an Egyptian. But now let's deal with the years of immaturity. Let's deal with the years that he owned up and he said, "Oh, I'm I'm prince of Egypt. I'm heir to the throne. That's my mother." Pharaoh's daughter is my mother. But when he matured, he said, "That's not my mother. I have a Hebrew for a mother. I'm I'm a Hebrew." Now, this is what I want to say to you today. If you are dwelling in the sinful mistakes of past immaturity, your mailbox reads, "No joy." But if you can mature and get Pentecost in your life, all of a sudden you begin to say, "I'm not going down that road anymore. I'm not going down the past anymore. It is under the blood of Jesus Christ. It has been cast into the sea. never to be remembered again. I'm going to release people that wrong me. I'm going to release people that want to destroy me. I'm going to release myself today. Why? Because it's joy unspeakable and full of glory. Don't you let your tomorrows be paralyzed by your immature decisions of your past. Don't let you don't you allow your callings to be paralyzed because for years you lived in the immaturity and claimed the world as your friend. Come to yours today. That's not who I am. Verse 11. And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God. Thou wait a minute. This rejoicing is like co. It's contagious. When you begin to rejoice, you ever notice it happens in our marriage quite a bit. We be driving down the road and I look over Sister Carpenter smiling and you know what I'm gonna say to her? What you smiling about? And you can't ask somebody what you smiling about without smiling. Won't you try it right now? Why don't you try all smile? Look over. Come on. Come on now. Look over Flanner and say, "What you smiling about?" Huh? No. Get too close. Amen. What you smiling about? Because joy is contagious. That's why a Pentecostal church is attractive because we're not some dead mausoleum somewhere where we're where where it's spooky and it and it's dark and it's spooky and and nobody's saying it. I tell you I I can tell you why the Holy Ghost can't go to a lot of churches cuz it says it came on the day of Pentecost like a and suddenly they don't do nothing suddenly. They got to get this committee to to okay and they got to get that committee to okay. They don't do it. They don't do anything suddenly. But I'm going to tell you what's attracting about a Pentecostal church is the rejoicing that we have because people are looking for peace. They're looking for people that smile that have no alternative motive. Hey, I drive on a car lot. The salesman is smiling. What's his motive? Sell me a car. I walk in a clothing store. The man or woman is smiling. What's the motive? They want to sell me some clothes. That that's all a motive behind the smile. But when I walk into a Pentecostal church and people are smiling, it's like, "What are you smiling about?" I'm smiling about the joy of the Lord. Come on, rejoice with me cuz Pentecost is about rejoicing. I believe if a husband will start rejoicing, a wife will start rejoicing. I believe that mom and dad are rejoices, the kids will rejoice. Come on now. Am I in the book or what this morning? Why don't we start reading verse 11? You stop reading where it says thy God. And I'll continue on from there. But why don't we read that all together and and like we got some joy. And thou shalt thou thy son, thy daughter, thy man's servant, thy maid servant, and the Levite, that's a preacher. Can I tell you, if I ever look sad, if you want to give me a birthday gift, get to rejoicing because a praising church will make a smiling preacher. Can I tell you? And I people when when Listen, Ben Lee has never run around this church without me smiling. When you begin to rejoice, it gets on the Levite. It gets on your son. It gets on. Lord have mercy. Somebody help me today. The Levite. Now, stop there, didn't I? The Levite. That's the pastor. That's preacher within thy gates. And the stranger, that's them first time guests that never been here before. We get to rejoicing. Them first time guests get to rejoicing. And the fatherless boy, look at that. Look for look at look at a son. Look at look at a son or a daughter that doesn't have a bright future, that's got a hard life, that doesn't have anybody to provide for them, nobody to look out for them. They are fatherless. You know what they need ever? Every fatherless child needs a Pentecost because Pentecost, Brother Chris, was the greatest break you ever got in your life. when you were being shuffled around by the system to this home to that home as a kid, put in situations that that'll put a tear that that'll bring tears to your eyes and down the front. When Chris, stand right now. Chris Holden, would you stand right now? This young man begins to tell about being put in this home and that home and all of this and and all of that and it'll put a tear they'll run down your face. But the greatest thing that ever happened to Chris Holden is a thing called Pentecost. He stumbled into a Pentecostal church and there that church was having Pentecost. The spirit was fallen in that church. He's now a successful businessman in our community. He's now an entrepreneur. See, he's real smart. Well, Chris, I'm taking nothing away from you. You are every bit of that. You have charisma. You have drive. You have all of that. But I believe it was all developed when the God of party of Pentecost came down upon you. For the fatherless, for the son and for the daughter, for the widow that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name. Thou shalt remember. Here's what Pentecost does. Thou shalt remember. Thou shalt remember. Thou shalt remember that thou was a bondsman in Egypt. and thou shalt observe and do the you know why I have a party because every time I have a Pentecost I'm reminded of that 16-year-old boy that took that pack of Winston cigarettes and put them under the back under the back tire of his XL 100 Honda who was had a red helmet an evil conval helmet had the piece of c I was bad I was bad to the bone I mean I was bad but cigarettes had already taken my father to an early grave at the age of 46 years old. Cigarettes had already robbed me of my father, but I got a Pentecost. I was put in a school that had a Pentecost. I was put around people that had a Pentecost. And one Sunday night, I got a Pentecost. Knocked me flat on my back and I spoke in tongues and laid in the floor. Got up from got up from that Pentecost. Didn't even like the church before. If you've ever been to the Knoxville church, I used to irritate the daylights. Have you ever been to the old gospel church? I used to irritate the daylights out of my mama cuz I'd tell her it was not doing any good. They had they had these wood planks in the in the ceiling and I knew how many wood planks started over there and went all the way to the corner and how many wood planks started over there and went all the way to the corner. I didn't like that place. I didn't like the people in that place. I was doing everything I could to get out of that school. I would let my mama know I know how many boards go up here. I know how many boards go up there. because I was trying to discourage my mama from taking me to church. But my mama used to blister me with a scripture. She would say, "But God's word shall not return unto him void. Sure, it shall accomplish that which it is." And you know what? One Sunday night, I walked up to the altar. I was filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I got up. I got up and started hugging everybody. I was hugging men and women. They they later told me I wasn't supposed to hug the women, but I said I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. But I I just I'm just hugging everybody. Why? Because I had a Pentecost in my life. I thought the best that I'd ever live is to be a little elevated trash. But when God put Pentecost in my life, God come on. If you're glad for Pentecost, get on your feet. Make some noise. Rejoice a little bit. give you glad for Pentecost. Come on, rejoice with me for just a moment. Come on, rejoice with me for just a moment. What is Pentecost occurring 50 days after Passover? This feast celebrates the end of the grain harvest and commemorates the giving of the Torah or the giving of the law on Mount Si. What is our Pentecost in the New Testament? This feast celebrates the giving of the law at Sinai and the harvest. Jesus fulfills this by sending the Holy Ghost on Pentecost. Acts two, empowering the church and making the beginning of a new covenant where the law was written on the heart of the believer. Old Testament Pentecost written on stone. New Testament day of Pentecost written on the heart. Please notice something with me. The Old Testament came from a mountain. Exodus 19 and1. In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day, everybody say the same day. Came they into the wilderness of Si. Now look at that again. See if I'm right here. In the third month, look at the verse again. In the third month, on the selfsame day, somebody say they were counting. They were counting. What month is it? Help me now. What month is it? They were counting. They came to the mountain. Acts chapter 2 verse one. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, you can't have a Pentecost without counting days. You can't have a Pentecost without counting. Let's let's go on. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament, both of these things were given on mountains. The Old Testament Si and the New Testament Jerusalem. Both are mountains. Galatians 4:22. Boy, I hope this is all right today because you'll never get you'll never have a Pentecost if you don't understand what Pentecost is. Galatians 4:22, "For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a bondman, bondmaid, the other by free woman. But he who was of the bond woman was born after the flesh. But he of the free woman was by promise. Which things are an allegory or an example? Well, these are two covenants. The one from Mount Si which genderth to bondage which is Hagar. So one mountain had bondage. For this Hagar is Mount Si in Arabia, and answerth to Jerusalem, which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem, which is above, is free, which is the mother of us all. Now, I want you to know something today. In Exodus 19, a nation was born, the Jewish people. You can research this. The Jewish people do not mark the birth of their nation when they were delivered from Egypt. They marked the birth of their nation from Mount Si when God gave them the tablets of stone written the will of God. The commandments were there. But that mountain, that mountain is a mountain that produced bondage. But the mountain in Jerusalem, the mountain where the Holy Ghost fell. And friend, I don't care what denomination you are. I don't care what religious movement you're in. From the Catholic Church to the Episcopalians, we all agree that the birth of the church happened when at Pentecost, the church was born, birth at Pentecost. Both came from a mountain. I'm trying to give you some similarities here. Both were days that had to be counted. both happened on a mountain. Let's look at Exodus chapter 19 verse number nine. I hope I've not confused you. Here's the Old Testament. Exodus 19:9. And the Lord said unto Moses, "Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee forever." And Moses told the words of the uh the the words of the people unto the Lord. Verse number chapter 19, go down to verse number 18. Here it is. Moses goes to hear from God. And Mount Si was allto together on a smoke. That was not smoke break on a smoke because the Lord descended upon it and fire. Everybody say fire. And the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace and the whole mount quakdly on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2 3 and 4. And there appeared unto them clothing tongues like as of fire. So there was counting going on, there was mountains going on, and now there is the appearance of fire with the exception of one thing. The Old Testament had smoke and there's no smoke in the book of Acts chapter 2. Reason being, smoke blocks the view. If smoke comes in, you can't see clearly. And God said, "The only way that I can appear on a mountain, I've got to screen it with smoke, there'll be fire behind the smoke, but there'll be smoke to stream." But when God came down on the day of Pentecost, he said, "I want you to see me clearly. I'm going to put my spirit in you. It'll give you the revelation of who I am. It'll give you the revelation of what I am like. It'll give you the revelation that I am one. It'll give you the revelation that I am love. I am joy. I am peace. I am the deliver. It will give you It will give you that resurrection, that revelation, should I say. same mountain, same county, same fire. On the mountain from Acts, from excuse me, from Exodus 19, God begins to tell Israel about its future. About its future. From Exodus 19 to Exodus 32, God is telling Moses about the tabernacle. God is telling Moses about a better future. Everybody say better. a better future for Israel. Follow this closely. In Exodus 28:2, listen to this. God says to Moses, "On the mount, and thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron, thy brother, for glory and for beauty." He's receiving that on the mount. Verse three. And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise-hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. So, Exodus 28, God is speaking to Israel about about a better future. Again, I want to go back and forth. Counting took place. Mountains took place. Fire took place. And on both mountains, God was giving directions for a better future, the tabernacle, the priesthood. On and on it goes. Aaron is going to get beautiful garments that will identify him as the priest. The same thing happened on the day of Pentecost. Acts chapter 2 verse number 14. But Peter standing up with the 11 lifted up his voice and said unto them, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be let this be this known unto you, and hearken to my words. For these are not drunken as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day, that is the morning. And I didn't put that in my notes. But the fire came down in the morning, and the Holy Ghost was poured out in the morning. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel. It shall come to pass in the last days, sayaeth God, I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams on my servants and on my handmaidaidens. I will pour out in those days of my spirit, and they shall prophesy. Can I tell you in the Old Testament, God was saying there's a better future for Israel, tabernacle, priesthood. I'll tell you how to worship me. In the New Testament, God said, "I've got a future for your family." Your children may be, they may not have any aim. They may not have any vision. Your children may be hung up on video games. They have no movement. They have no joy, but God said, "I'll give a future to your children. Your sons and your daughters are going to prophesy. They're going to be Sunday school teachers. They're going to want to sing in the choir. They're going to want to come and be in the band. They're going to want to come and do something for God. Oh, thank God for the future. Thank God for the future. I greeted Sister Jean Phipe this morning when they came in. What a joy it must make them feel when their two sons want to come to the house of God and be involved in the work of the Lord. What a joy it is to all of our par all the parents that are here today. Your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren are working for the Lord. But now, let me let me let me just hold on for a moment. Wait a minute. God, you are in chapter 28. Listen to this, Brother Ericson. Wait, wait a minute. God, time out. God. You're in chapter 28 talking about what Aaron is going to wear and what Aaron is going to do. You're in chapter 28. You're telling that Aaron's going to have priesthood and Aaron's going to do this. Aaron's going to have garment for beauty. But can I tell you what Aaron's about to do while you're up there on the mountain? Exodus 32 and1. And when the people saw Mo that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron unto Aaron, and said unto him, "Up, make us gods, which shall go before us. Whereas this Moses, the man that thou brought that brought us up out of the land of Egypt. We wrought not what is become of him." Aaron said unto them, "Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, your daughters, and bring them to me." Guess what Aaron does? Now, he's real deceitful here. Aaron says, "Bring me your gold. Bring me your earring. Bring bring it all to me." And Aaron makes a golden calf. Now, wait a minute. This ain't working. This This This ain't working. God's on the mountain telling Moses to make Aaron beautiful garments. Moses is down in the valley making a golden calf. And then when Moses confronts him about it, Aaron says, "Well, I throw it in the fire." And out came the calf. Yeah, right. I got some oceanfront property up in Pigeon Forge I'd like to save you today. But wait a minute, God, is God not all knowing? I said, is God not all knowing? Did God not know the moment I'm talking about the shirt he's going to wear and the shoes he's going to wear and the the operants he's going to offer? Did God not know that the guy was down there making a golden calf to worship? He absolutely did. But he knew that what Sinai represented was Pentecost. And can I tell you that while we are out making our immature, sinful decisions, God is still saying, "I've got a Pentecost for you. I know what you've done." You see, some people cannot see a God that wants to do something for them because of what they're doing right now. But can I tell you the great God that I serve can be on a mountain saying, "Ron's going to be a priest. Aaron's going to offer up sacrifice." All the while Aaron is doing this. Do you know that when you were sitting on a bar stool getting drunk as a skunk, God was saying, "Angel, I'm going to call him to preach. Angel, I'm Do you know when you were going from man to man to man, God was saying, "I'm going to make a Sunday school teacher out of them. I'm going to make something out of them." Oh, you ought to thank God for Pentecost. I said, "You ought to thank God for Pentecost." Come on. Could we give him a just a deep thanksgiving worship today? Come on. Can you just give him a thanksgiving worship today? My God, I feel the Holy Ghost right now. This is Pentecost. I wish somebody shout, "This is Pentecost." This is Pentecost. This is Pentecost. Aaron's down there making a golden calf and God's telling what kind of garment he's going to wear. God poured out his spirit. 120 are rejoicing and praising God and speaking in a heavenly language. There's some people standing there that day. Acts chapter 2 verse number 12. They were all amazed and were in doubt saying one to another, "What meanth this? You know, I'm glad to I'm glad to have church that causes people to ask questions. Cold, dead, dry religion. Neverbody nobody asks a question other than when does it end? I'm glad to be in a church that guests leave and say, "Hey, I've got some questions." Do you know that's Pentecost? You know that's Pentecost for them to ask questions. Others said, What what what mean this? Others verse look at verse number 13. Read it with me. Would you read verse 13 with me? Acts chapter 2 verse number 13. Others. Now let's run all the way through Peter's message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And then another question is asked. Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, brother Doug, Then Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized. How many? Except those that don't understand it and except those that are mocking it. You You get where I'm going? He didn't exclude those that didn't understand it. And he didn't even exclude those that spoke against it. Ah, they're just drunk. Look at that. They just a They're just a bunch of drunk, ignorant fishermen, Galileans, uneducated. They just got drunk on new wine. They're just a bunch of drunks. God didn't look down and said, "No, no, no. Don't you talk about don't you do that. I I'll burn you up with a lightning bolt." God didn't do that. You know what God did? While there were mocking, God was saying, "I'm gonna put it in the preacher's mouth to tell you that the mocker can get the Holy Ghost." Can I tell you that the Apostle Paul is a testimony that the church's greatest enemy can be the church's greatest saint? You say, "Brother Carpenter, you got some enemies." Yeah, you better believe it. But I serve a God of the party. And the God of the party can make the church's enemy the church's greatest convert. Oh, don't you love that today? Don't you love that today? I wish somebody shout, "That's Pentecost." How about the prodical son? What a party. What's a prodical son doing? Sleeping with prostitutes. What's a prodical son doing? Drinking till himself drunk. What's the prodical son doing? Sleeping. Prostitutes. Getting drunk. What's the prodical son doing? Feeding pigs. Sleeping in a hog pin. But can I tell you while you're wasting your time, the God of the party has never changed his mission. Because the God of the party is still telling the servants, "Go up to my boy's room." I know he ain't been there in a while. I don't know when he's coming home or if he's coming home, but there's some dust on top of his robe. run his road down to the dry cleaners and get his road cleaned up. Boy, might come home. While you're sleeping with harlots and drinking yourself drunk and wallowing in a pig pin, there's a father saying, "Keep his robe dry clean." Keep his robe dry clean. While you're sleeping with the harlots, putting needles in your arms, stealing, and doing everything else, there's a god of the party saying, "Buff that ring a little bit. Shine that ring up a little bit. Put that ring in the safe and keep it because my boy may come home." While you're sleeping with harlots and drinking yourself drunk and denying everything about God, the father's saying, "Take a bag of feed down to the c down to the barn and keep fattening up that keep fattening up that calf because my boy may become while you're drinking and sleeping with harlots and doing everything else." The father's saying, "Come to musician practice and keep playing and tuning up the band because we're going to have a party one day." Welcome to Pentecost. Welcome to Pentecost today. There's hope for everybody. You hear me? There's hope for everybody. No. Oh my God. I I said there's hope for everybody today. Come on, shout with me. Praise God with me. Say it with me. There's hope for everybody. There's hope for everybody. Pentecost is the hope for everybody. The spirit is the hope for everybody. Oh, we should reach over and get the hand of somebody and pray right now. Come on, musicians. Come on. Somebody watching me today, there's hope for you. There's hope for you. I don't care what you've done. I don't care what you're doing. The power of Pentecost, there's hope for you today. Tell you the beauty of God. while they're out there saying every untrue and demeaning and slanderous and would have no greater joy than to hear of your death. The person they're praying, the person they're doing that to is in a prayer room calling their names. Father, forgive them. Father, take sleep from their eyes and rest from their souls. Father, hedge up their way around them. Let nothing they touch ever prosper until they find themselves back in the house of God. Instead of a God sending lightning boats, God is sending mercy to that individual. Do you not know I have prepared aast Thank you Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for saying you've got a new garment right now. Thank you, God, for saying you've got a new garment right now. Oh, thank you, Lord, for saying you've got a feast right now. Come on. God just spoke. Come on. God just gave a confirmation of the message right now. Come on, all of us. Would you put your hand over on somebody and pray for them right now? Come on, pray for him right now. Come on, pray for him right now. Pentecost. Pentecost. Pentecost. Pentecost. Pentecost. Pentecost. That's it. That Pentecost. Pentecost. That's it. Pentecost. That's it. Pentecost. That's it. Come on. Pentecost. That's it. Right now. Come on. If you want the spirit this morning, if you want to be baptized with the Holy Ghost right now, he said the promise is to you and your children. If you want a new life right now, if you want a new beginning right now, come on. Pentecost is open right now. It's open right now. It's open right now. Come on, right now. Come on. Build these altars right now. Build these altars right now. Come on, build these altars right now. Come on. Fill these altars right now. Fill these altars right now. Pentecostals, if we'll come to the altar, our guests don't want to come to the altar. Oh God, I thank you, Lord. I thank you, Lord. Come on, let's just take a few moments and lingering. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Jesus. Do your work right now. There's a party going on right now. Come on. There's a party going on right now. There's celebration going on right now. There's repenting going on right now. But why? We're repenting here on this earth. There's rejoicing going on in heaven. The party has started. The party has started. The party has started. Jesus God. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Hallelujah. Come on. Before we begin to sing today, before any singing goes on, why don't you raise your hand like a funnel? Pentecost is not past tense. Pentecost is present tense. Come on, let's all have a personal Pentecost right now. Come on, let's all ask God, I I know you got it 40 years ago. I know you got it initially 20 years ago, but right now, June the 8th, 2025, God wants to give you a Pentecost right now. Go ahead, lift up your voice. Make your arms a funnel. Yes, Jesus. Yes, Jesus. Yes, Jesus. Come on down, Lord. We your church want a day. We need the cleansing power of Pentecost, God. We need the acceptance of Pentecost right now. You hear me today? You'll never have joy till you have current Pentecost. You'll never have joy until you have a Pentecost right now. Come on. Come on. Praise him. Come on. Praise him right now. Come on. Pentecost. Pentecost. Come on. Come on, church family. I I'm I'm not talking to new people in the altar right now that's never received it. I'm talking I'm talking to the church right now. We need to have a current day Pentecost. Put your hands like a funnel right now. God, I'm hungry for you. God, I'm hungry for you. God, I need Pentecost fresh and new in my life. Come on, lift up your voice. God cannot fill a closed mouth. Praise him until you block out the distraction around you. Praise him until you're so loud all you can hear is yourself praising God. Pentecost. Pentecost. Woo. Pentecost. Joy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yes, God never perfect. Thank you, Lord. Glorif When the father's in the room, you still in the father's house at the well. You're in the father's house. I will come homeless home. Love is on the moon. When the father's in the room is on the moon in the room. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Don't stop. Don't stop. Don't stop. Don't stop your praising right now. Don't stop your praising right now. Don't stop your praising right now. Don't stop your praising right now. Don't stop your praising right now. Don't stop your praising right now. Oh, spirit of a great God. Oh yes, God. Oh yes, God. Come on now. Come on. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Move it right now. Come on, guys. Move it right now. Come on. We're having Pentecost. We're having Pentecost. We're having Pentecost. We're having Pentecost. Oh yes. Oh, get up. Get up. Get up. Here it comes. Here it comes. Here it comes. Here it goes. Here it goes. Here it goes. This is Oh yeah. Heat. Heat. Here it comes. The sun set free and free the morning without break in victory. out of my bra and free. All right. All right. We prayed for the spirit to fall and the spirit has fallen. One has been baptized in Jesus name and more is on the way. But I believe there's a healing spirit because God at Pentecost not only brought the gift of the Holy Ghost, but he brought the gifts of the spirit. And one of the gifts of the spirit, if you could just see it with me, you got a big present. It's wrapped. That's God manifested in the flesh. They hung that big box on the cross. They unwrapped it. Out came blood and water. They unwrapped that big box. And out came blood and water. But when they unwrapped him at at Calvary, they unwrapped him at Calvary. They found that he wasn't the only gift. There was another gift inside. For he said, "If you will believe on me, as the scripture has said, out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water." But this spake he of the Holy Ghost, which they that believe should receive. But the Holy Ghost had not been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified. Oh God. and they open him up on Calvary and they look down 50 days later. Here come another gift out. Tones of fire set up on 120. By the end of the day of the first Pentecost, the church had grown from 120 to 3,120. Because on the day of Pentecost, 3,000 people obeyed Acts 238. 3,000 is a number. when the law was given and the and the golden calf was worshiped, 3,000 people were put to death on the same day. But on Pentecost, 3,000 people are brought to life on the day of Pentecost. W. It's Pentecost. It's Pentecost. It's Pentecost. Amen. But they talked in tongues on the day of Pentecost. And somebody said, "Wait a minute. There's nine more gifts inside of that gift of the Holy Ghost called the gifts of the spirit. And one of the gifts of the spirit is the gift of healing. The gifts of healing. And right now I feel like that gift of healing. I feel like that gift of healing going to flow through this place. If you're standing close to brother Elliot Reggie's daddy, gently put your hand on his back. If you're in this room right now and you have an incurable disease, somebody reach over right now and touch high blood pressure in the name of Jesus, tumors cursed in the name of Jesus. Mental torment, anguish oppression, demonic oppression. Be free. Be loosed. Be gone in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Come on, pray right now. arthritis in the name of Jesus be cursed in the name of Jesus. I pray over every disease in this room. My God. My God. My God. My God. My God. Pentecost. Come on. Put your hand over on him right now. Put your hand over on him right now. Come on, begin to claim your healing. Come on, begin to claim your healing right now. Begin to thank him for it right now by faith. Begin to thank him for it. Somebody lay your hand on Sister Thompson if you're not already. I wait on you, Lord. I had designed to close this service out a little different. But I feel that as a good pastor, I'm going to tell you about some change that's coming. The first apostolic tell you about some change that's going to come. We are not going to fall prey coming and hearing some of the best singing and music and preaching and spend about three minutes in the altar looking around. We're going to go back and revive tearing and waiting on God. We may shorten singing and we may even shorten preaching, but I think that we have tied God's hand when we come up around this altar and we give him just a few minutes. Just a few few minutes. Could you treat God half the way you treat your doctor? How many's ever set out in a waiting room an hour? Why didn't you just leave after five minutes? So, she's waiting on the doctor. And thus saith the Lord today out of my mouth, if you should wait upon a man, should you not wait upon me? For when you wait upon me is revealing your determination to have me. Wait, I say, wait on the Lord. Can we just praise him for a moment? If you have to leave, I I totally understand. I'll keep my eyes closed while you leave. But we are not going to allow people that are in a hurry to get here and get out of here to flavor a church that is hungry for an oldfashioned 2,000y old move of God. Come on. Healing is in this room right now. Depression keeps rolling over and over in my mind right now in the name of Jesus Christ. Silver and gold and counseling sessions and medication I have not. But such as I have give I thee. In the name of Jesus, be loosed from that grip of depression, that grip of hopelessness and despair. Be free. Be free. Come on, shout it out. I am free. Come on, shout it out. I am free. and healing your soul. Just wait on the Lord. Wait on the Lord. And he renew your strength. Ah the Lord and he'll renew your renew. He's all you got away. He's sorry. You away. And the second thing I want to tell you, preaching and singing will not only be the loudest thing we want at church. I'm going to push you to let our personal worship be a loud time in our church. Thank God for our musical instruments, but they're not designed to praise my God. They're not designed to make the noise when my mouth squeaks like a mouse. So before we're dismissed, I want you to lift your hands and I want you to give God a loud praise. It has nothing to do with your personality. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. You're going to find out God's going to move. Yes. Yes.
