you may be seated for just a moment before i read my text from first corinthians chapter 11 verse number one we're having as we said last week that this is a staff meeting wednesday night uh bible study and we normally would have it on uh cut use a couple of nights in the middle of the week and have but we just got so many things going on that i just said i'll just take a few wednesday nights and cover cover um the requirements of being on staff here at first apostolic church the what we call standard well some of these things are extremely familiar to us there are new people that are continually coming into first apostolic church that these things they're kind of like the disciples that john the baptist or that paul ran into in acts chapter 19 the holy ghost had been fallen for many years but paul ran into some of the disciples and you know what they said they said we've never heard whether there be any holy ghost and i'm convinced that there's things that i taught last week and things that i'm going to teach tonight that there may be good god-fearing god-loving people in this congregation tonight that would look around and say well i've never heard that i i've just i've just never heard that and by chance that you're sitting here and tonight we are kneeling first corinthians chapter 11 we're dealing with hair as it pertains to a woman and hair as it pertains to a man there may be a a woman here tonight that may feel like oh he's talking to me he absolutely positively not i'm not talking i'm not talking to you you may be what i've just mentioned a good god-fearing good person that simply you've never heard this talk from the scripture may be a man that's here tonight and you may say oh he's he may be singling me out i promise you i promise you it could be further from the truth but once again you may be one of those good-hearted god-fearing men that just you say well brother carpenter i've just never heard this before what this is intended tonight is for our staff and it is for you to sit in and and to listen and uh god to open up your mind to see because i believe everyone wants to be pleasing to god everyone wants to be pleasing to god i was at a funeral last thursday evening sister tina goes to the sevierville church her mother passed away and i was at a funeral and bishop mccool spoke at the funeral and uh he began to tell me that sister mccool is home watching her brother and tending to her brother and he said brother carpenter last wednesday night which would have been wednesday night a week ago he said the lord led me to teach on holiness said i was teaching on holiness last wednesday night and he said when i got home from church said sister mccool had you pulled up and said she was saying honey brother carpenter's preaching on holiness said listen listen to this what what he was saying and we were saying we were saying a lot of the same things and first and foremost it made me feel good that i was in the vein of the spirit of my spiritual father i was i was thankful that god because god has more than just a church here in maryville god's got a church around the world he's got a church around the world but bishop mccool told me a story i'd like to share it with you because it kind of says how he feels and it tells how i feel he says there's a woman that went to a banker to get a loan and she was being interviewed by this banker of whether or not he would approve her for a loan and of course the paperwork filled out and and the woman was going to get the loan but the banker decided he said ma'am he said i'll give you this loan on one condition there's one condition i'll give you this loan he said i don't know if you know it or not but i have a glass eye i have a glass eye and said one of my eyes is a glass eye and the other one a natural eye and said if you can tell me which eye is my real eye said i'll give you this loan and like that she said it's your right eye it's your right eye he said how did you know it was my right eye and she said because i saw compassion in that eye i saw compassion in that eye so tonight when i put the plow deep and i start taking us back to the order of creation remember that's the compassion i'm doing this tonight because i have compassion i have compassion in this i'm not doing it to embarrass anybody i'm doing it for the church to please the lord we want to please the lord that's why we're here tonight we want to please the lord now just remember if something stings you tonight it's my right eye all right it's my compassion stand with me this evening first corinthians chapter 11 we'll begin reading at verse number we'll begin reading at verse number one we'll read verse number one and as our custom is we're standing and as our custom is we'll thank god for the word i'm gonna read verse one leave your bibles open be followers of me even as i also am of christ lord jesus tonight i thank you for the privilege and the opportunity god i thank you for salvation why you would save a wretch like me god why you would reach down and save me is a mystery to me and lord why you would call me into the ministry god i'm without words lord help me tonight father to feed the sheep help me this evening o god to pour out compassion as i lay out your word dear dear savior lord move upon this congregation tonight open the hearts of our ladies open the hearts of our gentleman here tonight lord may we go deep in your word to be pleasing to you in jesus name we pray amen and amen you may be seated paul has written an epistle two of them to the church at corinth and it is a church that is calling he is calling the church to order you will find if you run reference on the word order the word order appears many times in the book of first and second corinthians i believe that everyone could give me a hearty amen that what is going on in this world today is that the world is out of order it is out of order paul is writing to the church and he is laying the groundwork for order he says in verse number one to be you followers of me even as i also am of christ he is not a braggard he is not self-righteous he is not an egotist he is a man of god that is under the authority of god that is leading god's sheep and he says i want you to follow me that word follow there has the greek word to mimic to mimic you see what is needed in the church as never before is good examples good examples haven't you seen someone turn to the good because they fell under the right influence and haven't you seen those fall out for the worse because they got under the wrong or the bad influence paul was saying i have fallen under the influence of christ and now i'm an example for him and every every leader every leader every christian should strive to be an example for others to read some have said there are 66 books in the bible i disagree with you there's actually 67 books in the bible what is the 67th book paul said that we the church are epistles known and read of all men that 67th book is you and i how we live what we do how we act is that 67th book that the world is looking at follow me as i follow christ now i praise you brethren that ye remember me in all things and keep the ordinances as i have delivered them to you now what this word is and i really want this for the for our youth tonight because i believe this is where they get attacked a lot of times about our apostolic pentecostal bible lifestyle someone will say those are old traditions that's just traditions that you are that you're holding on to to where the word tradition in the church has been linked to the pharisees the pharisees had traditions now i'm going to tell you tonight that there are some things we adhere to that are traditions they are traditions but traditions in the bible are not all bad let me tell you the difference let me tell you the difference what determines a good tradition from a bad tradition is that a good tradition tethers you connects you keeps you relevant with that scripture it connects you to a scripture so when you're asked why do you do this you have a scripture that you connect yourself to you can connect yourself and these things have been handed down traditions from generation to generation and that's what paul says he says i praise you that you have kept and remembered me in all the ordinances as i have delivered i have i have given you traditions that have kept you tethered to the word of god now what makes a tradition a bad tradition is when it becomes a tradition of men and is not tethered to the word of god now we know that when we mention the word traditions some automatically think about the pharisees what didn't jesus jesus was always getting onto those pharisees for those traditions not true not true the problem that he had was that their traditions their traditions were bypassing circumventing going around the word of god let me give you an example matthew chapter 15 verse number one matthew chapter 15 verse number 1 then came to jesus scribes and pharisees which were of jerusalem saying why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders for they wash not their hands when they eat bread now see the the the pharisees had a tradition and i'll tell you what this tradition was was tied to this tradition was tied to a belief that a man became demon-possessed when he went to the marketplace and he bought fruit or bread and he brought it home that demon spirits would get on his hands and that if he didn't wash his hands before he ate although that's a that's a good thing to do but not for that reason he's they believed that a demon spirit you didn't wash your hands a demon spirit you'd reach and get that piece of bread or that piece of fruit and put it in your mouth the demon spirit jumped in your mouth and down inside of you and you became demon possessed well jesus would later tell them it's not what goes in a man that defiles him but it's what comes out of the abundance of the heart so jesus they said we notice that your disciples are not obeying the traditions of the elders they wash not their hands when they eat bread but he answered and said unto them in verse 3 why do ye also transgress the commandment of god by your tradition for god commanded saying honor thy father and mother and he that curseth father and mother let him die the death but ye say he said now that was the word of god honor your mother and father do not curse your mother and father provide for your elderly mother and father is what jesus is saying here but he says that's a commandment of god but verse 5 look at these three words that started out would you read verse 5 just the three words in verse 5 see the commandment of god is here but guess what happened but you say whosoever shall say to his father or his mother it is a gift by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me and honor not his father and his mother he shall be free thus have you made the commandment of god of none effect by your tradition he's saying my word says to honor your father and mother my word says to provide for them to provide for them in in in the elderly age of their life but you know what you come along and say you come along and say well i've got money here but i'd rather go down to the temple and give it and and by the way god god god would be profited by this this would be all right and he said you you have made the commandment of god of none effect by your tradition your tradition has not tethered you to the word of god i hope you're seeing that with me you see there are there are traditions we do have traditions that have been handed down we respect i highly respect my pastor tonight i highly respect what he handed down to me and do you know what my pastor although his pastor bishop l.a parent has long since went on to be with the lord he speaks fondly of his pastor bishop l.a bishop l.a parent which by the way let me tell you bishop l a parent was the very first general superintendent of the assemblies of the lord jesus christ and so my pas and and that they've handed these things they've handed these things down matter of fact how many how many has heard uh the name gt haywood you heard that name oh you've been in pentecost any time you've heard you've heard that name uh that that man that was very instrumental uh uh the founder of the uh pentecostal assemblies of the world uh gt haywood uh the song i see a crimson stream of blood and it flows from calvary gt haywood wrote that he wrote that he wrote that song you know what i'm thanking god for tonight do you know that gt haywood laid his hands upon l.a parent he laid his hands upon l.a parent and ordained l.a parent and i'm thankful tonight that l.a parent laid his hands upon bishop billy mccool and ordained him and thank god tonight i thank god for my tradition i thank god for my heritage bishop billy mccool laid his hands upon me and ordained me into the ministry you see the beauty of being tethered to godly men because because listen to me now listen to me now this old world's changing this old world is changing now we talk about dress when we talk about we talk about leadership and some of it's dress but do you know that roll the clock back 50 60 years ago do you know the world looked like us now ask me with all the change and the nudity and the near nudity and the nudity is the world a better place are we a better place now that our kids can't pray at school are we a better place now when the bible is openly ridiculed on late night talk shows i say no and a thousand times no so we decide as a church which way are we going to go are we going to hold on to the traditions that keep us tethered to the word of god now let me go back to verse number six you honor not your his father and his mother he shall be free thus you have made the commandment of god of none effect by your tradition ye hypocrites well did isaiah prophesy of you saying this people draw nigh unto me with their mouth and honor me with their lips but their heart is far from me but in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men now jesus is quoting isaiah and i think i see the spirit of the day that we're living in isaiah chapter 29 verse 11. look and see if you don't think this is the spirit of the day as far as christianity is concerned isaiah 29 11 and the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed in other words he says the word of god is like a a book that is sealed which men deliver to one that is learned saying read this i pray thee and he saith i cannot read it for it is sealed in other words the word of god is like a book sealed and you hand it to a man that has learned and he says i can't i can't read that it's sealed and the book verse 12 and the book is delivered the word is delivered to him that is not learned saying read this i pray thee and he saith i am not learned wherefore the lord said for as much as this people draw near with their near me with their mouth and their lips do honor me but have removed their heart far from me and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men here's what he's saying listen to the culture today the culture today is we can't understand the bible in christianity we hear this we can't understand the bible don't you hear things such as well you can read the bible and get one thing out of it and i can read the bible and get a total different thing out of it and then there's people who will say i don't want to know anything about your brother carpenter i'm going to come visit you and worship with you but i got to ask you one thing about your church go ahead and ask me do you believe in the blood of jesus christ yes i believe in the blood of jesus christ and as i'm trying to tell them other things we believe in oh no no no no no no don't want to hear nothing else you believe in the blood that's good enough for me let's just get together and praise the lord let's let the lips of our mouth let's just get together and praise the lord well i'm sad to tell you it's not just about all getting together and praising the lord it's about reading the bible obeying the bible applying the bible studying the bible and those were those were the traditions paul said going back to first corinthians 11 verse 2 now i praise you brethren that you remember me in all things and keep the ordinances as i have delivered them to you but i would have you to know now listen that that sound he it sounds like it is he changed the subject he said now we've been talking about traditions that's been passed down but i'm about to talk to you about something that's not a tradition now what i'm about to tell you is is not a tradition that's been handed down i'm about to tell you about the order of creation the order of creation you know creation's been good doing pretty good hasn't it although the inhabitants of planet earth have changed i'm glad that creation hasn't changed how many how many are concerned that sun won't come up in the morning how many are concerned with what your neighbor may do before you get home right you see creation has been following its order we're the ones that are out of order but i would have you know that the head of every man is christ and the head of the woman is the man and the head of christ is god now if you're humanistic if you've got too much culture in you you're snickering right now if you've got the world inside of you this is foolishness to you it's just oh lord that went out with mayberry and opie that that's uh uh pastors fell off the turnip truck tonight he needs to understand that's not gonna that's not gonna float in my life well if it doesn't you'll live a life of disorder but the head now you understand when we use the word head here we're using the word authority the word authority who's your authority who's your authority but i would have you know that the head of course he's talking to the church the head the authority of every man is christ and the head the authority of every man is christ and the head of the authority of the woman is the man and the head of christ is god every man praying or prophesying having his head everybody say covered having his head covered now you understand we're not addressing his spiritual head because you can't cover christ he is talking about something that can be seen that represents that which cannot be seen let me say it again he is talking about something that can be seen that represents something that cannot be seen in the book of romans in the book of romans the bible tells us when it's sharing about about creation the bible tells us i believe it is in um romans 1 and 19. i'm just going to be going back and forth and everybody have prayer for those running the scriptures on the screen tonight romans 1 19 because that which may be known of god is manifest in them for god has showed it unto them look at verse 20 for the invisible things of him the invisible things of god from the creation of the world are clearly seen they are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made even is eternal power and godhead so that they are without excuse creation is an illustration of order it is the illustration of order the reason there's no life on mars and there's no life on the moon in jupiter the reason there's no life on these other planets we see is that there's no order on those planets there's not an order there's not a rotation there's not seasons and so we live on planet earth created by god created for us to see that we serve a god of order you want to know what god is like he is a god of order he is a god of order go back with me to corinthians if you would please he is a god of order but i would have you to know verse 3 that the head the authority of every man is christ and the head the authority of the woman is the man of the head the authority of christ is god every man praying or prophesying having his head covered what does he do dishonor of his head what does the american flag represent our freedom and i'm going to just tell you something you won't burn a flag around me so it's it's just a piece of cloth no it's what that piece of cloth represents we will you say well it's just hair no no no stay with me now it's what that hair represents oh it's just hair well no if you're a godly woman and a godly man it's what god gave you that hair to represent every man praying or prophesying having his head covered dishonor of his head but every woman that prayeth or prophesying with her head watch the distinction now uncovered dishonor of her head for that is even all one as if she were shaven for if the woman be not covered let her also be shorn but if it'd be a shame for a woman to be shorn that's shaved or excuse me shorn that's cut as scissors or shaven that's like a razor let her be covered now he says if there be a shame i've heard some of the most ridiculous explanations well brother carpenter it doesn't say it's a sin it says it's a shame well welcome to a person that wants to please god you mean to tell me that you would know something's a shame and because it didn't say it's a sin you would feel like you could do it you see god is not a dictator he's a lover and and and and and friend lovers sometimes don't have to have it spelled out you just have to know the nature of the one you want to please and if our god says it's a shame for a woman to be shorn or shavin any godly woman will say i'm going to tell you i'm not going to shave nor scissor my hair because the bible says it's a shame verse 7 for a man indeed ought not to cover his head to cover it for as much he is the image and the glory of god but the woman is the glory of the man you see the man and the woman speak of creation that's why satan's working overtime to erase our gender because as long as there's an apostolic church embracing male and female and husband and wife in a godly relationship there will always be an image on this earth that satan hates he'll try to marry it up he'll try to mar everything about us you'll notice something that the man is the image and the glory of god and the man the man is to be uncovered the man is to be uncovered you'll notice anything in the presence of god in the old testament had to cover its face the angels had to cover their faces but when it comes to man man walks into the presence of god uncovered why he is the reflection and the image of almighty god he is the reflection the leader the image of almighty god that reason his head is to be uncovered but the woman is the glory of the man and so the woman is to be covered she is to be covered this is a divine order this is a divine order of of creation verse 6 for if the woman be not covered let her also be shorn but if it be shame for the woman to be shorn or shaven let her be covered for a man indeed ought not to cover his head for as much as he is the image and the glory of god but the woman is the glory of the man for the man is not of the woman but the woman of the man he's talking about creation creation getting back to creation getting back to order neither was the man created for the woman but the woman for the man creation for this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels now the woman should have a sign of authority it's not just hair ladies it's not just hair it's your ability to have a sign on your head because of the angels leave verse number 10 just leave verse number 10 up on the screen because of the angels a woman should have power on her head authority on her head because of the angels well you see i'm not trying to get spooky or anything but when we enter into the presence of god we enter into a spiritual realm where there's ministering spirits and angels of god that are with us in this room tonight and with us as we go through life let's look at the angels for a moment you'll leave that verse on the screen let me read from second peter chapter two second peter chapter two and verse number nine listen to me intently please ii peter 2 9 the lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise government you better be careful when you despise the order of god you need to be careful when order bothers you we've got we had an order of service here tonight i'm sorry just anybody's not going to get up here and preach tonight we've got an order not not just anybody is going to get up here and sing not not listen we're not going to have somebody that pickles their tongue and alcohol on saturday night at a keyboard at a honky talk and be playing up here sunday morning we got an order in this place well i just don't know about all them rules and reg yet let me tell you something that speaks of order thank god thank god for order but listen there's those that love the lust of the flesh and they despise government i'm not talking about the united states i'm talking about the government in the church they despise government presumptuous are they self-willed they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities you know what a dignities are dignitaries simply put in the greek dignities or good things or good people who belong to god not afraid to lay their tongue on a teacher that wants order in their classroom not afraid to lay their tongue on a school that strives to have order apostolic christian academy a school to strive to have order not not afraid not afraid to lay there to shame on you shame on you send your kids across the road where they can get pregnant drink liquor and all that because there's no order i i love william blount but they don't have nowhere near the order that we do it at aca shame on people because they despise they despise government you see they despise it oh lord have mercy please get your house in order the church will be much more appealing to you if you get your house in order and the church is in order but it's hard to minister to you when your house is out of order and you come to this house and it's in order i promised pastor youth pastor brother hammond i promised matt he was supposed to have the kids up in the you his group up in the youth room tonight and i probably said this just give me one more wednesday night with them and and i might have to keep here a while but just give me one more wednesday night with you all right you hear what i'm saying they're not afraid to speak evil of dignities verse 11 look at verse 11 second peter 2 11 whereas angels which are greater in power and might bring not railing accusation against them before the lord even when the angels go before the lord they have a certain order that they go in and i'll tell you something they're greater in might and power than we are but do you know when angels get in the presence of god they just don't go to railing they just don't they have a they have an exact order of how they go before the lord for this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels the angels know the order of creation and when the angels behold those that have heard this and the angels behold that you are out of order let me let me read on let me let me read them memphis go ahead follow me to jude put jude jude 1 and 6 on the screen jude 1 and 6 jude 1 and 6. and the angels jude 1 6 and the angels which kept not their first estate do you know why we've got satan his name means an adversary do you know why we have demons is because they got out of order they were angels when they were in order giving god praise and glory they were angels but when they got out of doing what god had created them to do they became demons and the angels which kept not their first estate but left their own habitation god hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness under the judgment of the great day even as sodom and gomorrah and the cities about them and like are giving themselves over to fornication going after strange flesh are set forth for an example suffering the vengeance of eternal fire likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh defile the flesh they defile the flesh despise dominion and speak evil of dignities look at that they they they speak evil of these dignities they despise dominion i don't look to have somebody over me i'm not going to have a pastor over me well you got listen if you want to be saved you need to get a pastor that teaches you the word of god you say well well who's your pastor brother carpenter i just told you who my pastor is my pastor's bishop billy mccool that's who my pastor is that's who i'm subject to some people some some some people in ignorance think well i'd like to be a pastor you don't answer to nobody you just don't know you have no idea the way to burden i carry and i'm not trying i want sympathy i i don't i might take a few gift cards to the steakhouse but i don't want any kind of sympathy from you tonight but i feel i couldn't just ask you one time do you see my right eye tonight church do you see my rod i don't know i i'm not teaching this to be ugly or mean i'm teaching this i want to be in the order of creation when angels come down around us i want to look and say this is the order of creation what oh my god now i think we're going to have to move the holy ghost here in just a minute when the angels are walking around here tonight i want the angels to be saying that house is a house of worship it's a house of divine order there's order in that house there's order here jude one and eight they they're filthy dreamers defile the flesh despise dominion speak evil of dignities yet michael the archangel when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of moses does not bring a railing accusation but said the lord rebuked you when old moses brother patterson when moses died up there and god said god said go down there and get his body and bury him said carry him somewhere nobody knows they'll build a shrine to him they won't go into the promised land they'll build a shrine to him michael go down there and get his body and bury it when michael went down to get his body the devil was there the devil wanted his body and the bible said that michael did not rail didn't bring a railing he didn't come railing on him he came in order he came and he said the lord rebuke you can i tell you there's an order to god and you don't have to spit and sputter if you're in order all you have to begin to say devil the lord rebuke you get out of this house get your hands off my children but you can't want order on your children and not have order in your own soul daddies if you want your children to obey you set a good example and obey your pastor get in the flow of that divine order then you can stand up and say the lord rebuke you look at this tonight look at this tonight look at this with me what i'm really saying is if even angels know how to bring the right order how much more should you and i operate in the right order one thing we ought to pray about tonight we better keep our tongue off of dignities we better keep our tongues off of structure it's going to be that structure going to save our kids that structure that wants that child to tell the truth nothing but the truth so help you god that's going to bless that child that may keep that child from the penitentiary someday you better let that second grade teacher come and tell you your little sweet susie told a lie wow that just shocks me to death no it shouldn't shock you to death she been lying to you mama i hear brother cincotta give me my good oh all right all right let's go back to first corinthians the woman had to have power on her head because of the angels the angels verse 10 have power on her head because because of the angels have power on her head because of the angels let me read you something else first peter chapter three verse one it's really a simple bible lesson here tonight but we need to know why we do it first peter chapter three verse number one likewise your wives be in subjection to your own husband lord have mercy if you've got a husband here tonight and he loves god cherish him cherish him there's millions of women that would give anything to trade places with you don't discourage him encouraging because i'm going to tell you something if you discourage him from living for god and one day your discouragement leads to his decision not to serve god you may never get that fire built back inside him women men you got a woman beside you and she loves god you listen that woman shouldn't be dragging you you need to be dragging her i'm just pastoring tonight all right likewise your wives be in subjection to your own husbands that if any obey not the word they may also without the word be won by the conversation of the wise in other words your example can be a powerful influence to win them while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of the plating of the hair or the wearing of gold or the putting on of apparel but let it be the hidden man of the heart ladies i want you to really see this now let it be the hidden man of the heart in that which is not corruptable even the ornament watches ladies even the ornament of a meek and a quiet spirit which in is in the sight of god a great price women don't just be concerned with what you look like in the sight of men be concerned with what you look like in the sight of god how valuable is it i don't know it just simply says it's a great price let me tell you something lady you're going to need to buy something one day in the spirit and you better have that inside of your heart or you're not going to be able to buy it there's going to be some things you're gonna need to buy one day in the spirit oh the important things of this world are not bought at the mall the important things of this world are bought in the throne room of heaven but you can't buy things when you're more concerned with what the world sees you looking like other than what almighty god sees you looking like we we've got to get out of this culture we've got to get out of this culture i i don't want to stand out let's stand out for him let's stand out for jesus let's stand out for the lord which is in the sight of god which is in the sight of god of great price for after this manner in the old time the holy women of old who trusted in god adorned themselves being in subjection unto their own husbands even as sarah obeyed abraham calling him lord whose daughters ye are as long as you do well and are not afraid with any amazement likewise ye husbands dwell with them according to knowledge giving honor unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life how important is it how important is it husbands and wives tonight that we're in divine order how important is it well then let me ask you something how important is it to get a prayer answered i said how important is it to get a prayer answered one day you're going to need a prayer answered matter of fact you may need prayers answered once a week and if you're wondering why some prayers are not being answered maybe this bible lesson tonight could be a good reminder to get your life in order maybe god is waiting for you to get in order for your prayers to be answered that your prayers be not hindered this is talking about the presence of god this is talking about the angels hebrews chapter 12 verse 22 showing you that when we worship god we should we should not just it shouldn't just be here at church worship god in your home brother worship god in your home sister worship god in your car worship god in your life hebrews 12 22 but you
